Acquiescence

Hi there. I'm Rook, and this is my first Naru/Sasu fanfiction. Or rather, first fanfic altogether.

Firstly, this story is yaoi. You would have had to go through various sections to get here, so one would think you'd know this. So please, no 'Eww, that's gross!'.

Secondly, the reason I've actually posted this is for review. I haven't written anything in a long time, RP included, and at three o'clock the other morning I opened up a picture and get a bit of inspiration to start a story. I don't know if it's good, and this is the first time I've posted anything for people to see. So please, your opinions are important. Even if you hated it and it sucks, let me know! I'd like to know where it needs improvement.
Thirdly…There’s a smidge of language (One or two words.) Blood (Wounds being treated from a non-described battle.) And maybe something more hefty than kisses in the future. Depending on how far I get around to taking this. I didn’t know if that was to be added to the list, concidering the low low amount and even lack of the third thing thusfar, but I figured it should be mentioned just in case.
Sorry for taking up your time, on with the chapter.

A gleaming sun was the forecast for this afternoon, as it was for just about every afternoon in this particular part of the world. Few clouds peppered the vast expanse of sky as wisps of sand danced in the subtle, but still stifling breeze. Few creatures could be seen moving about the dunes, most hiding from the rays either within the sand itself or beneath the scarce vegetation. One lone figure could be seen as he came over one of said dunes, cloak billowing softly, visage mostly hidden beneath the wrap that would serve as a hood and face mask. Only optics that mirrored the pure blue expanse above could be seen settled on generously sun treated skin and framed by flecks of blonde, sun bleached to near white, tresses. News had surprisingly travelled fast to this individual, and he was on his way to the village he’d grown up in to check on an old friend and rival that had abandoned them all a long time past. Though it certainly wasn’t the first time this friend had vanished, this time had been solely for doing so, and no other time had him away for quite so long. Seven years, in fact. Though the blonde had far from forgotten him.

Through his trek, the scenery shifted. First it was to small, sparse shrubs and what could be considered trees, followed by more appropriate sized and more abundant foliage, before finally warping to an all-out forest. Not long into the venture through the forest he came to a tall stone wall, and reached to knock away the wrap that obscured his features. Wouldn’t want to go in looking like a vandal, now would he. Cheeks, marred by three scars in the form of whiskers came into view, accompanied by a slightly pert nose and a wide grin framed by pinkish tiers. He was sure that the sentry was already alerted to his presence, as he made no attempt to hide it, and he pushed at the wide doors, stepping once more into the place that both gave him joy, and sadness. The sight of a pink-haired, fair-skinned maiden greeted him, and his grin grew wider, if possible. Stepping forward, he opened up his arms, beckoning her into a brief display of affection. “Sakura. It’s been a long time."

Moving into the embrace, she smiled, though a part of her missed the childish and more forceful and forward display she had grown accustomed to. It really had been a long time, and it was obvious he had matured immensely. Outwardly, at least. “Naruto, you’re finally here! We’ve all missed you very much.” Stepping away, she watched as he rubbed the back of his head, mumbling some apology or another for his lack of appearance as of late. Though, in his eyes was a hope and concern that she knew consumed him. He hadn’t really returned for her, or even the other members of the village. He’d come to see Sasuke.

The raven haired male had been apprehended as he wandered through the forest surrounding the village early that morning, bleeding greatly from various wounds about his slender frame. His clothing was a mess, covered in dirt, blood, and ripped to shreds. He was unarmed except for his skills at hand to hand combat and jutsu, but even those were dwindling, along with his strength. The capture had been unnervingly easy to the ANBU that found him, and they were sure he was embarrassed, though it didn’t last as he lost consciousness halfway back to the village. He had yet to regain consciousness, and was being held in a carefully guarded hospital room, being treated for the lacerations.

The brief encounter between him and Sakura ended with him apologizing profusely as he rushed to the hospital. She had given him details on his wounds, which were quite extensive and weren’t responding well to the healing sessions. Favoring the roof tops to avoid any more confrontation, he quickly reached his destination and received a brief update before being let in by the guards. Glancing about the pristine white walls and décor of the room, his vision soon settled upon the splash of obsidian. Naruto took a shaky step forward, the beeps and clicks of various machines hooked up to the pale one being drowned out by the pounding of blood in his ears. Flashes of various instances where he’d come home from missions to see a setup similar to this haunted him, though then it had been from foolish antics the other participated in to either become stronger or kill his sibling. Naruto had come to think Sasuke was invincible the last time they had met, as no one but Naruto himself could really come close to defeating the raven in combat. What could possibly have brought such misfortune unto the frail looking male?

Sasuke’s eyes were closed, long dark lashes settled delicately on pale cheeks, light pink tiers parted slightly to draw in shallow breaths. From the drawn back sheets Naruto could see his torso was wrapped in bloodstained bandages, as were his forearms and the upper arm on his right side. His lower half, however, was covered by the thin pallid sheet, and Naruto could not see the damage that may lie beneath. A dark tanned hand reached to brush a few strands of hair from those soft features, concern showing within those azure depths. “Sasuke …why couldn’t you just stay home? This wouldn’t have happened to you then…”

Grabbing a chair from by the window, he placed it beside the bed and settled into the cushions, relaxing a little after his long trek. Watching the sleeping figure, he sighed. It had been so long since they’d seen each other last. He figured he should harbor some sort of resentment towards the other for the past, but couldn’t bring himself to do so. In fact, he’d come to accept the feelings he had for the bastard years ago, but never tried to hunt the raven down so as to act upon them, or even inform the other of their existence. His mind flicked back to the last time they parted. It had been shortly after the Orochimaru incident, and Sasuke still remained in the white uniform of the deceased snake, though he had abandoned the strange purple belt. Naruto’s hair was still a bright blonde, and he was still a bit shorter than the other. He had found himself trapped between a large stone and his rival, a kunai lodged in the rock just above his head and his arm pinned to the cold surface. Though he had still held his own weapon within his grip, he knew if the raven had wanted to kill him, it’d be over. The other leaned in, and the close proximity of the other’s body had him nervous, though that was a fleeting feeling as a sad expression graced those ever-expressive features. ‘Sasuke…why do you keep doing this? There’s nothing else out there for you to do! Why can’t you just stay in Konoha, with me and Sakura-chan?’

Sasuke had simply stared intently at Naruto, their noses near-touching, before he released the male and turned away, leaving the blade lodged in the stone. ‘Don’t follow me, Naruto.’ The statement hurt, though that didn’t affect the blonde near as much as the word whispered afterwards, so quiet that he wasn’t sure he’d caught it at all as the distance between them greatened. ‘..Please…’Naruto slumped against the wall and slid down to sit, staring blankly after the retreating figure. Somehow with that simple addition, he understood why the other felt he had to leave. A click snapped him out of his thoughts, and he glanced up to see a nurse had entered the room and had busied herself with checking Sasuke’s vitals. A small nod showed he acknowledged her existence and she smiled in response. As she took her leave, he allowed himself to drift into the arms of slumber, unaware of the slow rise in chakra that took place throughout the night and early morning, and onyx eyes slipping open. Only after a sudden slam did he snap to attention, glancing first to the direction of the sound. The blinds had been pulled to the side and were swaying from the prior breeze and draft from the window slipping to a close. Darting a glance to the bed confirmed his fears as it was empty, save for a few changes of clothes that had been hastily pulled out from a cabinet and gone through, and he took chase after the once more fleeing male.

The chase took longer than he had expected it to, seeing as Sasuke was still injured, but it ended abruptly as they raced along the slanting slope of a gorge that had once been underwater, over the flat ground that had once been the bottom of a great river. A quick foot allowed Naruto to finally catch up, and an equally quick hand darted forward to grasp one of those bound wrists, jerking him back. The action made the raven turn slightly from the force and in an effort to catch himself from falling, giving Naruto the window of opportunity he needed to snag the other wrist and shove them both against the stony barrier beside them, the body of the captured male following suit. Wasting no time, Naruto stepped in front, providing another barrier in any attempt at fleeing that Sasuke might think to do, and trapped a leg with one of his own, the other to the left of Sasuke’s frame. Pushing upward, he held the other’s arms above his head. Briefly, he thought of the similarities between their last encounter and this one, though this time it was obviously Naruto who had done the trapping, and Naruto who was the taller of the two, which amused him. Though, not enough to dim the anger coursing through him. He’d just gotten Sasuke back, and he tried to leave again, without even saying anything!

“What the fuck, teme?!” He ground out through gritted teeth, the old insult working itself in without his realization. His eyes were blazing as they met the bloodied optics before him, and the mirroring snarl twisting those full lips. “I’ve been hoping you’d return for a long time, and when you finally do you had to be captured in an injured state, and you tried to leave without saying anything?! I WAS RIGHT THERE.” He was fuming now, and though he’d gotten good at masking his chakra, red-orange flicks were still painfully apparent to Sasuke’s bloodline view. The sun was high in the sky now, though not quite at its highest point, and it showed the stark contrast between the two in an almost stunning beauty, and Naruto couldn’t help but take in the image of the male before him, bathed in the morning light.

“No one asked them to find me. Nor did I ask for you to come see me, or follow…now let go!” A struggle ensued, the captive very displeased at his current situation. Seeing Naruto in the first place had triggered something within him that he’d stuffed away to the corners of his mind, and he didn’t want to be forced to think on it again. Long ago he’d decided it was just better to leave, instead of admitting to himself and others just what had grown between the two throughout their past and despite the multiple desperate attempts he’d made to stop them. To add to that, he was ashamed that he was useless to his extinguished clan, and an insult to his family, as he had no desire to really rebuild the clan, and to make matters worse, no real way. The one that held his attentions was currently pressing him against the rocks, causing a barely concealed flush. Applied pressure to the injured arms caused a wince and ceased the struggling, however, and he bit his lip, refusing to allow that and the suddenly blurred vision and stinging sensation in his optics to bother him.

“No one had to ask, damn it! I wanted to! No, I needed to! You should know I’ll always come for you!” The blonde caught himself and let out a frustrated sigh. How the raven could bring out such a reaction never ceased to amaze him, even if it was annoying. The stubborn look the other gave him was also grating. It seemed nothing he could say would make this idiot understand just how much he meant to Naruto. But, as he caught sight of the others eyes, his anger slowly dissipated. Sasuke’s eyes were tearing up, from either pain or frustration, or maybe something else. Tightening his grip unconsciously, he steeled his nerves. The decision to finally admit himself to the raven had hit him suddenly, and he acted quickly so as not to give time to talk himself out of it. Tipping forward, he closed the distance between their features, pressing his tiers against the soft petals of the other, in a desperate attempt to be understood, hoping that he wouldn’t be turned away.

Ruby optics widened, staring in shock as those blue orbs slipped closed and the distance closed until their lips met. He froze for a moment, the brimming liquid spilling past those dark lashes to course down rose-tinted cheeks, before struggling once again. Panic had set in quickly. He needed to move. To get away from the blonde and his feelings that were shoved into display, however mutual they may be. He couldn’t surrender, couldn’t finally fully admit to his failures and imperfections. Uchihas were supposed to be perfect! He was supposed to be perfect…But when the blonde didn’t retreat, the struggling slowed to a stop, and he slumped against the rock surface, allowing most of his weight to be held up by the blonde’s grip on him. He’d resigned to the insecurities and now stood motionless before the male, gathering what was left of his pride and succumbing to the moment, providing a slow, hesitant response.

Naruto was about to give up and release Sasuke when the feel of tiers ghosting across his own in an almost shy manner caught his attention. A smile graced his features as he pressed a firmer kiss to those lips, affirming his feelings for the dark-haired male. Volumes were spoken between the two in that moment, without a word actually being uttered. Rather, the grip upon those damaged wrists lessened considerably, and the distance between their bodies closed somewhat, as lips met again and again in desperation for an affection, understanding, and acceptance that neither had really had as they’d grown. His lips parted, the slick muscle that had been hidden within slipping forth to lap at Sasuke’s lower lip, a silent query for entry that was granted with little to no hesitation. As the barrier separated, he took full advantage, plundering the moist orifice and coaxing Sasuke into a brief duel for dominance over the heated kiss, years of frustration bleeding into the developing lust.

Callous hands slid down mostly wrapped forearms, smearing the blood that had soaked through the fabric along the exposed skin before breaking the contact to grip narrow hips, pulling the male flush against him and winding his arms about the now available waist, keeping him close. Following suit, the freed arms fell from their pervious position against the rock to settle upon the upper part of the others arms. Tiers would separate, breaths mingling in the still-close proximity. Settling their foreheads against one another, blue optics would open to gaze down the others features. Sasuke, however, kept his eyes closed, hesitant on making eye contact just yet. Though, that did nothing to deter Naruto from attempting to convince Sasuke to return, best interest for the other in mind, as well as his own. “Sasuke…come back to the village with me. You’re hurt. It’s not safe for you to be up and out.”

A moment of tense silence fell between them, and Naruto didn’t think Sasuke would answer, let alone in a positive manner. But then, lids parted to reveal near-pleading eyes. It was the most expressive he’d ever seen the raven be, and the feelings still never reached his face. But that look was all he needed to feel as if he had finally learned to read the dark one. The grip tightened on Naruto’s forearms as Sasuke worked through the ways to tell Naruto he wouldn’t go, without hurting him. Deciding, his expression turned to stubborn, as was his usual nature. “I won’t. And don’t try to make me go. Anywhere but there.” The blonde nodded, ushering Sasuke further into the gorge after sending back a small frog to relay the message of their departure. Relief flooded the ebony haired male at not being forced to return, though apprehension still lingered as Naruto kept in his company.
