Author's Note: Well now, that was a long weekend... After a little over a year, I've returned! Sort of. Long story short, and to keep it as brief as I can, I've been dealing with a lot of personal issues for the past year and a half, which led to 1) me to change my penname on here (if you remember my old one -- no you don't); and 2) a writing slump for me. To put it in perspective, this chapter has been in the works, edited, re-written, re-edited, and so on for months now. But as I've written and edited this chapter, I've also jotted down and partially wrote content for the next chapter, so I have a solid base to build off of.
Unlike last time, I won't promise any estimated dates, as I don't want to disappoint anyone if I'm unable to meet any self-imposed deadlines I give out. But I'll do my best to continue this story, as it's the sort of thing I've wanted to write for a long while now.
Now, onto the adult content warning tags for this chapter: Minor1, Minor2, Brief Rim, HJ

Shinko woke with a start after what felt like a few minutes, but the house was far too quiet for it to have been that long. After he twisted his head to look out his window, he saw the sun slowly rising from behind the Hokages’ stone faces, and realized he had slept through the rest of the afternoon, dinner, and throughout the night. He felt strangely peaceful, and after he swung his legs out of bed -- and noted he was still quite naked -- he realized that the pain and soreness he had felt lately had mostly abated. He slowly raised his arms up over his head, stretching slowly to see how the rest of his bare body would react. There was very little complaint, which brought about an intense feeling of satisfaction. Sakura was magical, he couldn’t help but think, and the thought of her brought back memories of their day together yesterday.
Before he could ruminate on them for too long, there was a knock on his door. “Don’t come in,” he said loud enough for the person to hear, but not too loud as to wake up anyone else that was sleeping. His brother’s voice came from behind the door, and he felt his breath caught in his throat for a few moments, wondering if he’d found out about what happened yesterday. “Shinko? Lady Fifth sent for you. She said there’s another mission, if you’re feeling rested enough,” Kazan called softly.
Safe, Shinko thought to himself in relief as he replied, “I’m much better now, actually. I’ll head out right away.”
He could hear the smile in Kazan’s voice as he replied. “Good... I was worried for a bit, little bro, especially when you missed dinner. Kazu’s still asleep, but I’ll tell him you had to leave quickly. Come back safe,” he said softly through the door before his heavy footsteps could be heard going back down the hallway.
Shinko showered and dressed in relative silence, with only his thoughts for company. He thought about Kazu and Sakura, and wondered at what the future held for him and his... What was she to him? A friend? A girlfriend? Something in between? The distraction caused him to refocus on what he was doing and take a breath. He held it for a few seconds, then slowly let it out. There would be time to think about that later; right now, he needed to meet with the Hokage, and focus on whatever his mission would be.
A few minutes later, he was kneeling in the center of the room before Senju Tsunade, who gestured with her hand for him to stand. “You know better than that, Shinko. Up you get,” she said impatiently. “I can see you’ve recovered nicely. Very good, as I have a joint mission for you, not strictly Anbu-related.”
Shinko nodded as he stood, listening intently to the instructions he was to be given.
Tsunade sat down behind her desk and rifled through some of the papers strewn about. “This is a follow-up to your investigation near the Village Hidden in the Waterfall,” she began, pausing for a moment to see how Shinko would react to the news. When there was no objection, she continued, “As I said, this will be a joint mission; I’m assigning Kakashi’s Team 7, as well as a sensory-type shinobi. Now-“ Tsunade was cut off by a knock on the door, to which she called for them to enter.
Filing into the room were four people, all of whom Shinko recognized from one place or another. The first that caught his eye, and caused his heart to skip a beat, was Sakura. The two of them carefully avoided each others’ eyes, but Sakura couldn’t stop her cheeks from reddening so very slightly. It was unnoticed except by the second person to catch his attention: a boy with yellow-blonde spiky hair, blue eyes, and whisker markings across his cheeks.
“Oi, Sakura, why’s your face all red? Are you sick?” The boy asked loudly, peering at Sakura intently with his face mere inches away.
Sakura looked annoyed right off the bat, and shoved him to the side. “Personal space, Naruto,” she chastised him. “And I’m fine, it’s just warm in here is all,” she added in response, fanning herself.
Shinko watched with a raised eyebrow, wondering if this was the norm for their team. His attention was then drawn to the two individuals bringing up the rear. The first he recognized right away, having just seen him the other day. “Yo,” came the lazy-sounded tone of Kakashi as he stood by Naruto.
The last person in the room was a slight figure, one that would glance between Naruto and Sakura as she walked somewhat hunched toward her spot in the room. “H- hello,” the figure stammered out shyly, and Shinko recognized who she was the moment he saw her eyes. She was one of the younger Hyūgas in the village, Hinata.
Shinko nodded at them all as they formed a line beside him, and the group’s attention all turned toward Tsunade as she cleared her throat.
“Late as usual I see, Kakashi,” Tsunade said with a smirk. Her tone was one of amusement rather than chastising.
Kakashi chuckled softly and placed a heavy hand on Naruto’s head. “You try wrangling this bunch and tell me how it goes,” he replied endearingly. It was clear to Shinko that he was quite close to his team, unlike some of the previous teams he had failed after their first test.
Tsunade rolled her eyes as she stood from her desk, but before she could speak, Naruto opened his mouth first. “Granny Tsunade, why did you call us in so early? Do you have a super secret S-rank mission for us?!” He asked excitedly.
“If you’d listen you’d know!” Tsunade said with a raised fist, leaving Naruto cowering.
“Okay, okay, I’m sorry!”
The Hokage took a moment to compose herself, then slowly exhaled. “Okay, listen up,” she began, her expression turning serious. “There have been reports of two Rogue Shinobi being seen on the border of the Land of Fire. We don’t know who they are or what they’re looking for, but they are looking for something, that much is certain. Your main mission will be to track them down,” she continued as she peered over her interlaced figure at the ragtag group before her, “after which Kakashi and Shinko will move in to capture them if possible.”
Kakashi and Shinko looked thoughtful at this information, while Sakura and Hinata both looked nervous. “Do you think their presence has anything to do with my last mission?” Shinko asked carefully, unsure how much of his mission was known to the rest of the room.
Tsunade was quiet for a moment, then sighed. “On the surface, the only similarity I can see is that they are Rogue Shinobi, but considering what happened during your mission, we can't discount that as a possibility. That is partially why I’m assigning you and Hinata to this mission with Team 7. Your experience from the last mission on the off chance they're related, and Hinata’s sensory abilities, will both be useful.”
Shinko thought this over, then nodded, accepting her answer. He hadn't gotten his hopes up; if Tsunade had all the answers, she wouldn't need to dispatch all of them.
She continued, "Based on the sightings all being along the border, I believe them to be heading toward Hachō Village should they keep their course. I'd like you five to start heading that way, and gather as much information on them as you can. If need be, Kakashi, Shinko, capture them if you can, otherwise..." She trailed off. By the end of her speech, she had her elbows resting on the desk with her fingers laced together, eyeing the group over them. "You are dismissed."
---
Kakashi and Shinko stood in silence, leaning against a wall outside of the inn their squad stopped at after several days of long, hard travel toward the Land of Fire border. “How are you really feeling?” Kakashi asked after a few minutes of staring into the dark forest before them. The two of them hadn’t spoken much during their journey the past few days, focused as they were on watching over their youthful charges that were so full of life and energy.
Shinko thought for a while, staring in the same direction, before he answered. “I feel... A lot better, actually. Better than I have in a long time.” Then, deciding he needed to explain further before Kakashi probed too much, he added, “It’s strange. After you’ve been exhausted beyond what you could ever imagine, when you bounce back... It feels like you’re larger than life. You know what I mean?” He asked, glancing sideways at the older shinobi.
The silver-haired shinobi chuckled softly. “More than once, I’d say, though it’s been quite some time since then...” Kakashi fell silent for a few minutes, as if remembering a specific incident. The surrounding forest was silent but for a gentle wind that disturbed the leaves it passed over. “It’s been a while since we’ve been on a mission together. You remember the two bandits on Mount Jofuku?”
Shinko could tell Kakashi wanted to change the subject he himself had started. Nevertheless, he couldn’t hold back a grin. “Aye, 2 years ago, was it? We set up camp in a thunderstorm and made off as if we went hunting. Instead, we watched as they had the bright idea of stealing some scrolls from our packs. Blew up in their faces, didn’t it?”
Kakashi chuckled. “That it did. There were reports they were stealing various bits of paper during storms all over the land. The Wet Bandits, I believe they called themselves.”
“You believe?” Shinko said with an eyebrow. “That fellow shouted that name as often as he could when we took them into custody. What was his name? Marv?” He laughed, remembering the absurdity of the situation.
“That it was, that it was,” Kakashi chuckled, and Shinko could tell he was smiling beneath his face covering. The two fell into another companionable silence for a few minutes, until Kakashi straightened up and began to stretch. “It’s getting late, and we have a long day tomorrow. I’m off to bed,” the silver-haired shinobi said with a wave.
“Good night.”
---
Shinko tossed and turned on the uncomfortable bed the inn provided, failing to find his way into the sweet embrace of sleep. After several days of running with very little rest, he wanted nothing more than to sleep the night away. It was the thought of Sakura being just a few doors down from him that made his heart skip a beat and kept him awake. He shook the thought from his mind. They were on a mission, and surely she would not want to be disturbed or risk being caught by their superiors. After laying on his back for an hour, he decided sleep would not be coming any time soon. With a sigh, he slowly rolled out of bed and stood, heading into the room with the miniature, private hot spring adjoined to his room. A soak should help him relax, he hoped as he began undressing.
Considering he still had bandages on, he gently peeled them back to inspect the healing wounds underneath. His skin had healed nicely over the past few days, and all that remained was light bruising. Still, he knew to be careful as he slowly lowered his naked body into the steaming hot pool and groaned softly as the warm water embraced him. He hissed as the heat spread to his healed wounds, but it caused no further discomfort after a few seconds, so he finished sitting down and let out a sigh of relief. Warmth flowed through him as he submerged his head for several long seconds, letting the water soak into his hair.
When he re-emerged and his vision cleared, his eyes widened for a moment, before his expression softened. Where there was just an empty space between him and a wall, a figure had filled the space, crouched next to the spring. The bright, smiling face of Sakura flooded his vision, and a smile of his own quickly formed. “Hey, you,” Shinko murmured softly, leaning back against the stone wall of the hot spring. “Fancy a soak?”
Sakura giggled and nodded, “Sure, it’s been a long day.” She sat down without another word and took off her shoes and socks, then without hesitation, she lifted her shirt up over her head, and unclasped her bra that held her small breasts in place. Finally, she wiggled her shorts and panties down her smooth legs, and not a second later she had slipped into the steaming water with a soft moan. She waded toward him in the small pool and got herself situated in his lap, leaned herself against his chest, and laid her head on his shoulder.
His arms wrapped gently around her waist, lightly stroking along her belly with his fingers, which caused her to giggle again. “You couldn’t sleep either, huh?”
He shook his head in reply. “The bed was too uncomfortable,” he murmured softly.
This made her smile a bit and tilted her head upward. “Couldn’t fall asleep without me?” She teased softly before turning to the side and nuzzling into his chest. “I had trouble sleeping when I got home a few nights ago,” she admitted quietly.
The thought that she missed him made his heart flutter, and his arms tightened more protectively around her. “Well... Tonight, you’re welcome to share my bed,” he said with a grin, planting a gentle kiss on her forehead.
He felt her shiver against him and clutch at his chest with her nails lightly digging in, making him shiver in return. “I like that idea,” she murmured softly. There was silence for a few minutes as the two of them enjoyed each others’ company, until she turned her head slightly to murmur against his skin. “How do you feel about being watched again?” Her eyes twinkled mischievously as they gazed up at him. He raised an eyebrow in curiosity, to which she explained, “I’m rooming with Hinata, and I’m sure she’ll be wondering where I am soon... and would be quite surprised at what we’d get up to. With her Byakugan, she can see through walls...” There was that look on Sakura’s face again, the same one that she had when they discovered Kazu spying on them. It was a look of pure, shy excitement.
The look made his manhood harden with excitement of his own, and caused him to smirk down at his young lover. “You sure do love being watched, don’t you?” He murmured softly. “I don’t blame you. It was... exciting, admittedly.” A thought crossed his mind that made him look curiously down at her. “You’re into girls as well, then? Since it doesn’t sound as if you mind Hinata watching...”
Sakura flushed deeply at the question, and looked up at him with uncertainty. “Yes... Is that bad?”
Shinko leaned down to kiss her gently on the forehead, then shook his head so she could see. “No, it isn’t. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
She seemed to melt into him at those words, and wrapped her arms and legs happily around him, content to sit in his lap a while. “Good...”
After a few minutes of the steam filling the room, she began to purr softly against his neck, lightly nuzzling into it. This tickled Shinko a bit, causing him to grin. “Mm,” he murmured softly in her ear as he kissed and nibbled the lobe teasingly. “Someone’s happy...” he commented quietly, while his hands slowly slid down her bare back under the water, and lightly groped her ass cheeks.
Sakura moaned softly against his neck and kissed it affectionately. “Of course I am... After a long day, I get to be here, with you,” she replied just as quietly. She had felt a fluttering within her ever since they first met, and each time they met afterward, the feelings only got stronger. When she felt his hands on her, that made her feelings intensify. She giggled and moved her head to his earlobe, whispering, “How about we give Hinata something to watch?” She asked impishly.
She didn’t need to say another word. With ease, Shinko hefted her up in his arms and stood up. Without bothering to dry themselves off, he carried her out of the hot spring pool and into his adjoining room. He flopped her down on the sleeping pad, careful not to let her head hit the ground, and straddled her belly, letting his hardening cock lay along her chest. His hands stroked through her wet hair affectionately as he looked down at her. “Mind doing me a favor? I’ll return it, I promise,” he said playfully.
This made her laugh, and she reached out with her hands to grasp his toned ass cheeks to shuffle him forward. “You’re so silly,” she purred as his cock slid up her chest and poked her chin. She adjusted to allow his spongy head to press against her lips, which she slid open to accept his warmth inside. She could taste the pre-cum that had beaded at the tip when she swept her tongue along the head.
Shinko groaned softly as he felt her small lips wrapping around his shaft, and when her warm, wet tongue brushed against his sensitive tip. The bedding beneath them was becoming soaked as the water trickled down their skin, but the two of them were too lost to care. His hips tilted upward and pushed down slowly, feeding her more of his hard cock.
Instead of stopping him from going too quickly, Sakura urged him forward by gripping his ass tightly, and pulled him closer to her. She choked for a second as his cock hit the back of her throat, making some of her saliva spurt out over his shaft, before she took a breath through her nose and relaxed. Her eyes flicked up to watch him, and she offered him a lazy wink as she began bobbing her head up and down from the bedding, suckling and licking along his cock as she went.
Her eye contact and the slurping, lewd sounds her mouth made around him made him shiver; quite literally, his knees were shaking from where they rested on the floor on either side of her head. He let out a shuddering groan that made her look rather pleased with herself as she slurped once more, then relaxed as she moved her head upward, easing his cock slowly down her throat. It had only gone a few inches before she had to stop, eyes watering a bit as she got used to him, then she slowly lowered her head to let his cock pop out of her mouth.
Sakura’s hand was immediately on his shaft, stroking along his cock with a firm grip. Her other hand remained on his ass and pushed him forward once more. Curious, he shuffled his knees further until she stopped him when his sack was resting on her forehead. After a moment, he realized what she was about to do, and another moment passed before he felt her warm, wet tongue licking slowly along his tight asshole.
Shinko’s eyes widened at the foreign sensations, and wondered if this was how Kazu felt the previous day. His breathing was staggered, something she made note of and decided it was a relatively good thing. Her hand was slick from her saliva as she stroked his cock quickly, and let her tongue go wild against his tight asshole, circling and licking and wiggling against the sensitive ring.
It took a few minutes, but the loving tongue bath and her hand going wild on his shaft made his cock begin to throb. Sensing what was about to happen, Sakura slid her body up the bedding underneath him and pointed his cock at her face, while her free hand took his heavy scrotum and massaged his balls gently. This tipped him over the edge, and within seconds, his loud groan filled his room and his cum spilled from his cock quite literally all across her face. He had quite a bit stored up since their fun a few days ago, and the new sensations she had made him feel were quite effective it seemed.
He panted heavily for a few seconds before he chuckled softly, "Thank you... That's a good look for you."
Sakura giggled as she licked her lips, "No, thank you for the treat."
His mouth opened to reply again when he felt his hairs along his arm and neck stand on end, which caused him to shift into a crouch and look around the room.
Seeing the intense expression on his face, Sakura said quietly, "Shinko? Everything okay?"
"Something's not right," came his reply just as quietly. "There's a... A presence," he frowned deeply in concentration, then took a breath. "Sakura, I need you to dress and wake Kakashi-senpai. Tell him you heard a strange noise outside, and when you stepped into the hallway to investigate, you saw me running outside. Please do it, now," he said quickly as he dressed faster than he ever had before, and not 10 seconds later he was in dark, form-fitting clothing, and his chokutō was slung across his back.
Shinko wasted no time in dashing out of the room down the hall. His steps felt like drums pounding in his ears from the silence of the building. He couldn’t put to words what made him rush into action; all he knew was the presence he felt did not have good intentions.
As he slipped outside through an open window, he saw two figures in the distance. One was tall and bulky, and carried a huge weapon wrapped in bandages across his back, while the other was shorter, slimmer, and carried no visible weaponry. Both wore long, dark cloaks with red clouds scattered across the fabric, and something about the cloaks seemed to ring a bell in Shinko’s memory. He stayed in the shadows, watching the duo for a moment, before realizing there was a third presence: Naruto. The boy had his back to the strangers, and had been peeing in a bush off the side of the inn. Shinko was filled with dread as he realized the duo were silently approaching Naruto.
His realization was confirmed when the bulky figure suddenly rushed forward with the huge weapon drawn. The hilt of the weapon was thrust forward, signaling to Shinko that the aim was to incapacitate, not kill. Time slowed for him as he dashed along the side of the building, drew his chokutō, and made it to Naruto’s side just in time to catch the hilt of the stranger’s weapon against his own blade. Shinko followed through with the blow, slashing at the stranger’s body, causing the man -- for he now could see the figure’s face -- to leap backward back to his counterpart.
Naruto heard the clash of weapons behind him, and looked over his shoulder. It felt to him as if he was only turned around for a few seconds, and now there were three people behind him as he finished peeing. “Hey! What’s going on?!” he shouted and drew his kunai as if preparing to fight.
Shinko reached to shove Naruto behind himself, hilting his chokutō as he did so. “Shut up and let me deal with them.” he muttered under his breath, then spoke loudly and clearly, “You’re trespassing on Land of Fire territory, and attacking Leaf shinobi on a mission. You have this one chance: leave now.”
The bulky figure laughed aloud as he pulled back his hood, revealing the shark-like face Shinko caught a glimpse of moments ago. “You’ve got some nerve interfering. We just want the jinchūriki behind you, and then we’ll be out of your hair,” the man said with a sharp-toothed grin, though the grip on his weapon told Shinko that it was anything but the truth.
Jinchūriki, he repeated to himself. Shinko knew about the ill-kept ‘secret’ of Konoha that dwelled within Naruto, but he was momentarily shocked that a couple of Rogue Shinobi would know it. He needed to act fast, and so he did. Weaving the signs for Horse and Tiger, chakra kneaded deep inside.
Just before he wove the signs, a voice was heard from the shorter figure. “Kisame,” it said, and placed a hand on the tall figure’s shoulder, guiding him backward. The speaker’s face was hidden in shadows, but the voice made Shinko’s hair stand on end. Why did it sound so familiar? Before he could finish even thinking about the question, he saw the figure’s hands raise and weave the same signs in unison with him.
Both Shinko and the figure raised their index finger and thumb to their mouths. Fire Release: Grand Fireball Jutsu! Fire burst from their mouths, lighting up the area surrounding the tavern. The intense, burning hot collision of fire shattered the surrounding windows and peeled away a stretch of paint from the wooden walls. The intensity caused Naruto to yelp in surprise, the sheer power displayed between the two combatants leaving him in a state of awe. The boy suddenly had a newfound respect for Shinko. Naruto blinked, and the next second Shinko was gone.
Kunai drawn, the Uchiha reappeared when he burst through the remnants of the colliding Grand Fireball Techniques high above the duo, and slashed downward with the kunai at the closest target: the thin figure. A kunai appeared in the man’s hand, and the clash of metal kept Shinko airborne, glaring down at his opponents.
The hood of the shorter figure fell back, revealing his face and eyes. Shinko’s own eyes widened, and with a twist of his body he pushed himself back several feet. His eyes shimmered as he activated his Sharingan, memories of the past welling up inside him.
The deep voice of the figure across from him confirmed what he saw. “You’ve gotten a bit stronger over the years, cousin. Much more than Sasuke, I’d wager,” the man said, though he sounded as if he was bored.
Shinko’s face was pale now, and his grip tightened on his kunai. He felt several emotions warring inside him. Anger, hatred, and a strong need for retribution... But he was better than that. He slowed his breathing and kept his eyes focused on his opponents. "Itachi. I'm surprised you've returned to the Land of Fire. I hope you don't expect a warm welcome back,” Shinko said more calmly than he felt.
Itachi was expressionless as he raised his gaze, showing his Sharingan was activated.
Shinko forced his arm back to cover Naruto's eyes. "Don't look him in the eye," he whispered urgently. "On my signal, you're going to jump through the window and find Kakashi-senpai." He sensed the boy was about to argue and shook his head firmly.
"You can't expect to defend the child, cousin. Hand him over, or I will ensure that I take yet another step toward becoming the last Uchiha," Itachi said in his monotonous, deep voice.
It was no empty threat. Shinko didn't allow the duo time to think. The signs for Ox, Rabbit, and Monkey were weaved in an instant, and after clutching his right wrist, lightning burst from around his hand, covering it completely. Chidori!
The power that came from the technique startled Naruto. He remembered seeing the technique used by Sasuke before when they fought, though Shinko's had felt much stronger. Naruto was finally beginning to understand the level everyone else was at compared to him. The boy, understanding this was the signal Shinko meant, followed his instructions immediately.
Shinko couldn't pay any more attention to the boy as he began to run forward, the technique in his hand whistling loudly as he did so. His Sharingan were focused on Itachi and Kisame, and he made note of the slight widening of Itachi's eyes before his face returned to its expressionless state. It felt as if Shinko's hand was burning as he ran, and the electricity crackled with each step. It took only a second to clear the distance, and he thrust his electrified hand forward, aiming for Itachi's heart.
Before he connected with Chidori, Itachi was pulled backward roughly, and was replaced by Kisame's large weapon. Chidori struck it hard, leaving the two shinobi to struggle against each other... Until Shinko felt a heavy drain on his chakra. Before he could understand the cause, Itachi's voice came from behind him, he heard the kunai being drawn, and knew he was in a bad spot. "For all your training, for all your improvement, you're still weak, little cousin," Itachi droned on and raised his kunai. "Go now, and meet-" He couldn't finish his sentence. Itachi's head jerked to the side, looking over his shoulder.
Lightning Blade! A familiar, shrill whistle tore through the air and slashed through where Itachi stood. In his place, a log appeared in a puff of smoke, utterly demolished by the lightning-coated hand that struck it. At that exact moment, Kisame raised his weapon and slashed downward across Shinko's chest, taking advantage of Shinko’s brief distraction.
Shinko felt a hand grip his shoulder and pulled him back, but he still felt a sharp pain spreading across his chest. Kakashi, he thought to himself. Kakashi saved him from a surely fatal injury, but he could still feel his clothing dampen from the immediate flow of blood that began to seep out from the wound. He couldn’t think about that now, however. Kakashi drew Kisame’s attention, and Itachi’s hands began to raise as if to weave signs, but Shinko was too quick. He drew a scroll from the pouch at his waist and flung it outward, unraveling it before him. The scroll seemed to float in the air as he pressed a hand in the middle of some markings. Weapon Summoning: Twin Shuriken!
The scroll burnt to a crisp, and as if out of thin air, two large shuriken materialized and were caught by the younger Uchiha. As one seal was partly formed by Itachi, Shinko flung both shuriken at the thin man: one aimed at his head, the other his knees. His seals interrupted, Itachi darted forward and flipped horizontally through the shuriken. As he landed and his gaze returned to Shinko, his Sharingan focused on Shinko’s hands.
Shinko pulled at strings he held, and the shuriken reversed course, flying toward Itachi once more. Itachi twisted, throwing two well-aimed kunai at the incoming shuriken, deflecting them as if with ease. Shinko didn’t allow him any respite; he’d crossed the distance between them in a flash and kicked toward Itachi’s exposed ribs. Itachi finished the twist by swinging his foot outward to block the kick.
The past few minutes had passed like a blur for Naruto, who was still crouched by the wall of the inn, having not had a need to flee in search of Kakashi any longer, and the next few minutes felt even quicker. The boy watched as both pairs of combatants exchanged blows, and even interfered in their counterparts’ fights to counter seemingly-fatal strikes. He watched as Shinko’s strength slowly began to falter as he lost more blood. He even watched as Itachi and Kisame both took damage they couldn’t avoid: scratches across the face from glancing kunai, bruising from an unblocked kick, and more.
So this is what it means to be a great shinobi... It wasn’t until now that Naruto finally understood how far he’d have to go to achieve his dream. His Rasengan would only get him so far as he is now... In the short time he took to think this over, one of the fights came to a close with Kakashi being kicked with such force, he flew backward and crashed through the wood inches from Naruto, who stared wide-eyed at the spot his sensei stood just moments before.
This is bad! Shinko thought to himself as he felt his vision darkening. He’d lost a lot of blood by now, he didn’t have much chakra left, and Kisame now had his sights set on Naruto. He acted without thinking, letting his instinct kick in as he leaped backward, placing himself between the duo and Naruto. There was only one final thing he could do to delay the onslaught of Itachi and Kisame, until someone... anyone... could come help. Just one sign was woven: Dog.
Wind Technique: Providence: Judgment of the Wind God!
A flurry of wind exploded from around him in a frontal cone, causing the duo before him to brace themselves against the strength of the attack. The wind battered at their defenses, until they were blown backward into the forest behind them and disappeared from sight. The resulting drain on Shinko’s chakra, as well as the effects of blood loss, hit him suddenly, and he gestured behind him. “Naruto... run...” he gasped for breath, clutching his bloody chest as he fell to his knees.
Naruto looked behind him at the window to the inn, then back at Shinko, and then rushed to the Uchiha’s side, trying to drag him toward the building. Shinko was too heavy, and groaned at the boy’s efforts to move him. The crunch of footsteps from across the clearing drew his attention upward, and he saw what caused them: Itachi and Kisame approached, and seemed rather weary from the fight.
“Don’t...” His vision faded, and the last image Shinko saw was that of a long, furry white mane appearing in a flash before him.
