Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto nor make profit of it. Kishimoto owns it. |
Author's note: For the ones saying they appreciate my word vomit fics - you might want to rethink that after this monstrosity. I'm sorry; this is a very weird messed up version of something vaguely crackish. I don't know what I was thinking. I just wrote this. Sorry. Run away while you still can.
Warnings: Both Ino's and Naruto's pov; set some years after the last war; established slash; Hokage Naruto; crack fic; lame attempt at humour; mature references; Shikamaru is done with their shit; why must he suffer so?
I'm sorry. That's all I have to say
Most Important Day of the Year
The whole village had been abuzz for a week now, ever since the Hokage had announced that he had a very important announcement to make. Curiosity ran rampant, everyone gossiping and discussing what the Hokage could possibly have to say.
"Maybe it's a war announcement?" Old man Tanaka muttered suspiciously, stamping his cane on the ground.
"Of course it's not," his daughter tutted her lips before continuing to refill the wooden crate outside their shop with fresh apples. "Why would it be a war announcement when all the villages are cooperating now?"
"I'm telling you, that Suna folk can't be trusted," he grunted. "Never could, that folk. They've always been violent, rolling in the blood of their enemies."
"Daddy, the Hokage and the Kazekage are friends, you know that."
"He's just waiting for the Hokage to be lured into a false sense of peace, I'm telling you!" he insisted and pointed at the crate. "And stop putting too much produce in that; I keep telling you the crates can't hold that much weight!"
"I haven't even covered the bottom of the crate yet!"
"Could it be that we're organising some kind of festival?" Kanda, the owner of the bookshop, questioned aloud. "It's been a while since we last had something like that around here."
"Maybe an important person will visit us?"
"Maybe he's going to leave for a meeting elsewhere?"
"You think he's going to step down?"
That last suggestion was laughed away, because Uzumaki stepping down after not even a year of being Hokage? Ridiculous! There wouldn't have been any point in him becoming a Hokage then!
Clearly the rumour mill was working overtime; everyone eagerly speculating what this important announcement could possibly be.
"So, what's this important announcement that Naruto is going to make?" Ino inquired curiously, removing the tie out of her hair so she could redo her ponytail.
Shikamaru sighed loudly, rubbing his forehead. "I don't have a clue."
"How the hell do you not have a clue?" she asked incredulously. "You're his assistant, aren't you?"
"Yeah, Shikamaru, aren't you supposed to know about all his announcements?" Chouji asked, cocking his head before he slapped another piece from the barbecue on his plate.
"If you think he tells me everything, you're sorely mistaken," Shikamaru grumbled. "He's refusing to tell me what he's planning, but he's been grinning about it all week."
"So nothing too dire then," she surmised. She could work with that. Another war was not something she'd been looking forward to.
"How late is he going to make the announcement?" Chouji asked. "It's today, isn't it?"
"Yeah, at two. He's calling everyone to the tower who wants to come."
"There's not going to be enough space for everyone," she said, shaking her head. The entire village was high strung about the announcement; there was no way they would let this pass without showing up.
"Well, news travels fast here, so even if some people can't be present, I'm sure they'll know about it very soon," Shikamaru said dryly.
That was true, she acknowledged, twisting the tie around her hair. Not much really stayed a secret for long here – especially not when it concerned their new Hokage.
The fact that he was dating Sasuke for example – shocking a lot of people and disappointing several women – was not something that had remained a secret for long. Granted, it could hardly have remained a secret for long when they were caught fucking in the office, but still.
The hot July sun was unforgiving, beating down on them harshly, but in spite of the heat, a lot of people gathered in front of the Hokage Tower; anticipation almost tangible in the air. It was nearly two o'clock; the time that Naruto would step out and make his very important announcement.
Shikamaru was currently in the office, probably making sure that Naruto was decent and in no way doing inappropriate things with Sasuke. Having grown out of her crush, Ino could only feel amusement now at the thought that Shikamaru had to keep an eye on both Naruto and Sasuke just to ensure that they would keep their sex related activities out of the office. That probably wasn't one of the tasks he had envisioned himself doing once he became Naruto's assistant.
Ino had offered to switch with him if he wanted to do so, but Shikamaru had shot her down, accusing her that she would enable those two idiots instead of stopping them. She would never! She would just suggest other more private spots or perhaps give them some pointers if needed; what was wrong with that? An assistant was there to give advice after all!
She disguised her snicker as a cough, waving her hand when Shino threw her a curious look.
A hush instantly descended across the crowd when the doors to the Hokage balcony opened and Naruto stepped outside; dressed in his heavy Kage robes. The heat had to be killing him in those thick robes, but he was grinning wildly; excitement basically blasting off him, making Ino unwillingly smile in response.
Nearly a year later, it was still nice to see Naruto so excited about his new position, especially given how against his new appointment the council had been. The Clan Council, however, had pointed out that with only two members left, they couldn't exactly form a big opposition – especially because all the clans and the previous Hokage, Kakashi, had agreed that Naruto should take up the position next.
Ino raised an eyebrow when she spotted Sasuke stepping outside as well, though he lingered behind Naruto; his face an odd mixture of exasperation, annoyance and something she couldn't immediately identify. Clearly, whatever Naruto was about to announce, was something Sasuke didn't necessarily agree with, but he wasn't doing anything to stop Naruto either.
That only made her even more curious to find out what this "most important announcement" could be.
"Thank you all for coming today! I didn't expect such a huge crowd, so thank you very much for not having me stand like an idiot here for an empty square," Naruto started cheerfully, grinning when several people laughed.
He spread out his arms slightly; the sleeves of his robes so long they covered half of his hands. "I won't keep you here for too long, because I know you all have important things to do."
"You can keep me here all day," a woman sighed wistfully somewhere behind Ino.
She barely covered her snort on time; like Naruto would give her the time of the day when he was with Sasuke. Not that she could blame him. She might no longer crush on the sole remaining Uchiha heir, but you had to be damn blind not to see how handsome he was.
"As I mentioned before, I have a very important announcement to make," Naruto continued. The crowd was so silent he didn't even need to raise his voice that much to be heard. "I have decided to introduce a new public holiday! A holiday that is so important we would be remiss to not celebrate it every day!"
Excited murmurs went through the crowd. A new holiday? Nobody was going to refuse that!
"When is this new holiday and what are we celebrating?" someone in the crowd called out.
Naruto pointed at him with a wide grin. "I'm so glad you ask. We will celebrate this important holiday on the twenty-third of July, so next week already!"
Wait, the twenty-third of July … Ino narrowed her eyes. He couldn't really …
"We will celebrate the glorious existence of this bastard here!" Naruto crowed and abruptly tugged Sasuke forwards, slinging an arm around his neck.
Sasuke himself just covered his face with his hand, shaking his head.
"Because how could we not celebrate him when he's such an amazing and kind and strong man? Therefore I declare the twenty-third of July as National Uchiha Sasuke Appreciation Day!" Naruto bowed before a contemplative look crossed his face. "We might make it international soon, but I still need to discuss that with the other Kage. But that doesn't matter now! We're looking forward to celebrating this special day with you all next week! Thank you very much for your attention!"
With another flourish bow he returned to his office, Sasuke following him closely; arguing by the looks of it.
The crowd, meanwhile, was still quiet, but the respectful tone of it had made place for a stunned version as people exchanged looks with each other, clearly wondering whether they were being pranked or not.
"Maybe this is just another prank?" Kiba suggested tentatively; his face twisted weirdly.
"It's about Sasuke – when has he ever joked about that guy?" Tenten retorted unimpressed. "You think he would make an official announcement out of this if he wasn't serious?"
"Did he really just make a holiday for Sasuke?" Chouji asked in a measured voice.
Ino just closed her eyes and sighed. "Yes, yes, he did."
Obviously Naruto still hadn't let go of his obsession with Sasuke completely – even though he was literally fucking the guy now, so why keep being this dramatic?
Because he was Naruto obviously and being dramatic about Sasuke was like, ingrained in his system or so by now.
"At least it's not a war announcement," Sai said blankly.
At least it was not that, right. Such an announcement might come from the other villages, though, once Naruto pitched his idea to them. They were going to think he was insane – then again, shouldn't they already know by now that Naruto could be rather … unconventional? Especially when it concerned Sasuke.
Clearly life in Konoha wasn't going to be boring with Naruto as Hokage. Shikamaru could keep his job as Naruto's assistant, though. Ino didn't think she could handle Naruto's more … outlandish ideas. He was a good friend, but no. Just no.
She turned around, figuring she might as well stock up on some sake for tonight. She had a feeling a certain assistant was going to need it.
"You're not going to make that thing into a stupid national holiday, Naruto."
"That thing is called National Uchiha Sasuke Appreciation Day and yes, I will. I just said so, didn't I?"
"What for?!"
"Because you need to be appreciated, obviously, and they won't do it on their own, so there. And obviously I appreciate you a lot, so what better way to show it than to make this day? I'm Hokage, I'm allowed to do that!"
"No, you're not. Pretty sure the Clan Council has to agree first. And if you wanted to appreciate me, why not just suck my dick?"
A lavish wink. "That's part of the celebrations, silly."
"You need to make a national holiday to suck my dick?" Sasuke couldn't look more unimpressed if he tried.
"I need a national holiday to suck your dick in peace as many times as I want," Naruto corrected him, waggling his finger. He paused. "Well, and ride it as much as I want, of course, but that's another thing."
"I don't even know why I tolerate your stupidity," Sasuke sighed the sigh of the long suffering.
Naruto snickered and kissed him. "Because you love me obviously. Also because I'm good at sucking you off, remember?"
"For the love of god, can you two please remember that you're supposed to be professionals?" Shikamaru groaned. "I don't want to hear anything else anymore if it doesn't concern the files you need to sign off on!"
"You know," Naruto started speculatively, "if you would just leave the room, you wouldn't have to listen to - "
"Naruto. Paperwork. Sign. Now."
Naruto sighed and dropped down on his chair, dragging those blasted files to him. Clearly his ideas were too advanced yet to be appreciated now, but they would be accepted very soon, you'd see!
But maybe he should shorten the new holiday to "Sasuke Appreciation Day". Then again, shouldn't every day be Sasuke Appreciation Day? He paused, staring contemplatively at the file in front of him.
Then he shrugged and started signing away. Making that kind of decisions was tough, but he was Uzumaki Naruto! He would get this holiday approved, you'd see!
Believe it!
The End
AN2: I'm truly sorry. I literally have no idea where this came from and perhaps it should have stayed there. Please stay with me, I promise my next fics will be more normal! (Everything will be more normal compared to this, I guess)
Please leave your thoughts behind in a review; should you spot any mistakes (aside from the giant mess it is) please point them out to me.
I hope to see you all back in my future stories! Please stay safe and take care of yourselves!
