Hello, Everyone! First time writer here. I am very excited about this story!
Currently I have a full and complete plot with 20 chapters. You will see a lot of development in our favorite characters' lives in this fic. I must warn everyone, however... There are some major spoilers in the fic. If you do not like, do not read on.
She is the Moon, I am the Sun
Chapter 1 – What comes after the end of the World
The Tsukiyomi was over. Naruto, Sasuke, Obito, Kakashi and Sakura stood exhausted though triumphant next to Katsuya’s sealed body. It took much effort, but Naruto and Sasuke killed Black Zetsu, effectively handicapping Katsuya. Jumping from dimension to dimension, they were finally able to meet and perform the sun/moon seal to end the infinite tsukiyomi.
All around them, people were dropping from the chakra tree and awakening from slumber. The team began the long task of cutting everyone from their bonds. As soon as people were freed, they grabbed kunai to continue the task. In a matter of minutes, not a single person remained bound.
People came from all directions to thank Naruto. Many were surprised to see Sasuke. They were even more surprised to learn that Sasuke was just as much a hero as Naruto. The entire scene was wonderful and terrible at the same time. Lee and Ten Ten stood consoling each other over the loss of Gai and Neji. Many dropped down to their knees sobbing. The sweet dreams of tsukiyomi were a wonderful escape from the reality of fallen friends and a broken world.
Team 7 looked completely exhausted. Much of Sakura’s chakra had been used to simply keep Naruto alive. She couldn’t believe that just hours ago, Naruto and Sasuke died. Now, here they stood before the entire world, demi-gods. Saviors of the world. To everyone’s surprise, those seeking medical treatment were assisted by Kabuto quite expertly. Sakura for this short period of time was offered at least some reprieve. She continued to focus on the health of Obito who was fading fast.
Hinata cut herself out of her own binds with her chakra scalpel. She dreamed sweet dreams of a beautiful life with beautiful Naruto. Kids, dates, lovemaking and happily ever after were all she envisioned for the past several hours. If she had been released from the infinite tsukiyomi, it must have been because the real Naruto was still alive. If Naruto was still alive, she could make this a reality. She wouldn’t stare at him from the back anymore. Instead she would stand at his side.
This was a new Hinata. The Hinata that would die for Naruto, her last breath would only be an “I love you,” to the man she held most dear. She began to push through the crowd gathered on the hill knowing, just knowing that the man she loved would be surrounded by so many admirers. She began to catches glimpses of him. Tsunade giving him a good hard pat on the back. Iruka lovingly ruffling his hair. Bee fist bumping him. Naruto and Sasuke respectfully fist bumping each other.
And then she was being pushed forward. Kiba noticed her approach. Everyone in Konoha knew about her love and adoration for Naruto. Several other shinobi also saw it on the battlefield themselves. Konoha shinobi began to whisper into the ears of others and many began to part ways. And soon, Naruto was also being nudged towards Hinata.
And finally they were shoved into each other.
“Hinata!” Naruto grinned at the young woman before her.
“Naruto, I-“ Hinata stopped as Naruto took her hand in his. His Demi-god appearance starting to fade as he release his superior form. In seconds, he looked like an almost normal form of Naruto in addition the the chakra balls surrounding him.
“You still love me?” He asked, grinning from ear to ear. She could only smile back at him, rose painting her cheeks.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” The crowd began to chant. Naruto wrapped his arm around Hinata. She could no longer breathe. Here he was. His eyes were staring right back at hers.
“You always loved me… You were always there for me… Even when others weren’t…”
And then his lips were on hers. The crowd erupted. She began to weep. And they kissed and kissed again.
The crowd dissipated slowly. Shinobi all around were shaking hands and patting each other on the back. New friends were pondering when they would be able to see each other again. These countries were spread out so far apart.
In the background, Tsunade approached Sasuke who somehow remained alone, sitting by himself.
“You know,” Tsunade began. “There is this whole issue with your crimes against Konoha that we have to deal with.”
“I am aware,” Sasuke sighed.
“Don’t worry about it too much. I’m sure there are no harsh punishments to be dealt towards the Savior of the world.”
“I am as well.” Sasuke smirked, then surrendered himself into the custody of Shizune, who would escort him back to Konoha.
The celebration for many continued on through the night. As Sasuke was escorted back to Konoha, Naruto took upon the tasks of saying goodbye. He was surprised to see tears well up in Bee-sama’s and Raikage’s eyes. The mizukage told him to be sure to visit soon. Gaara embraced him closely and simply said, “I’ll see you soon, friend.”
In the morning, Hinata and Naruto began the long journey home hand in hand.
