A/n: BTW I am I’m dire need of a Beta. Most days my fics are riddles with typos and mistakes becuz, by time I churn the chapter out I don’t wanna look at it again. Occasionally I re-read them but most times… n. I’m difficult to work with unfortunately cuz last time I had a Beta… I was young naïve and mean and ignored their wishes and dropped the fic altogether. I think I’ve changed so… Any takers?
Power Trip: n. Slang An action undertaken chiefly for the gratification associated with the exercise of power over another or others
**************
It had been a couple of years. Naruto had left Konohagakure again for a training trip or, as Sakura called it when she intercepted him leaving, running away. Jiraiya was gone and as it were he was one of the closest things he had to a family. Matter of fact, Jiraiya was the only link he had to his father and knowing that bit of knowledge so late didn’t make it any easier on him when the Ero-Sennin died. Then on top of it all there was more trouble with Sasuke, the fox growing less controllable, and Sakura was growing more and more distant from him he hadn’t had the chance to fully process the love confession he had received.
She had horrendous timing, that Hinata. Her confession had gotten swallowed up by the stresses of life. To be honest it took him a complete year before he could get to realize those words really had come out of her mouth. She was willing to die for his sake because of love. Well by then he felt like a complete and total loser not worth her time if it not only took him this long to not have noticed, but then to on top of it all a year to realize it was said.
Upon his enlightenment he grew clumsy. Someone loved him. Someone was willing to die for him and not just as a friend but loved him. He didn’t know how to take that. But it could never be he decided with some dismay. He’d always loved Sakura and that would never change. Plus, he had too much going on right now to try to read her shyness, which was now explicable that he knew the truth. On the plus side it has been a couple of years so surely she had moved on without him and he could just pretend it never happened.
“You still haven’t learned how to treat women?!” He could hear Jiraiya now.
“Shut up, Ero-Sennin.” Naruto smiled softly as he neared the door of his apartment. Sheets covered everything, a trick he’d learned some years back when Jiraiya had laughed at him when he caught Naruto dusting his house. “Home. Sweet. Ho-”
Creek!
He narrowed his eyes looking straight ahead hearing his toilet flush not even a moment after. He threw his bags on the couch and made his way to the ceiling hanging out as light footsteps made the floor creak back toward his room and opened the window. Listening further the intruder wasn’t gone. So quietly and stealthily he made his way to his room. The door was partially open. He heard the person sigh and his bed groaned softly under new weight. When it grew silent he made his move and kicked the door wide open, several kunai went flying. It was then he saw his target.
“Sakura-Chan!” The three kunai jabbed into her chest and he just stared.
Pyon!
The Pinkette vanished and there was a pillow in her place. He sighed in relief, the felt the coldest chill run up his spine. “I feel danger.” He turned to look.
“You scared the crap outta me!” And Naruto went flying out of his own window. He groaned when she poked her head out to wants him pull himself back up onto the little terrace with now broken and splintered railing. He hand managed to grab the edge before falling to his doom.
“What the hell?!? You were the one sneaking around my-”
“Hehehe!” Sakura only smiled at him. “Welcome home!” He could only smile.
“I’m home.” He smiled back.
*~*~*~*
“So you were staying in my house because why?” Naruto wiggled his eyebrows at Sakura walking down the street having convinced her to go with ramen for lunch. The morning spent uncovering his furniture.
“I kept hoping you’d come home.” Sakura sighed softly.
“You missed me?” He looked at her shocked.
“I never said that!” Sakura glared a vein popping.
“Alright, Alright.” He put up his hands and backed away. “I bet everyone changed again. He thought back to the last time he had gone and returned.
“You have no idea.” Sakura rubbed her head, her gaze going distant.
“Ah! I should try and remember Shino fast. Last time he was sulking.” He smiled.
“You’ve matured quite a bit Naruto.” Sakura smiled softly.
“Yeah I have!” He rubbed the back of his head chuckling.
“Good.” She smiled.
“Hey… is that Naruto?”
“Hm?” The remnants of Team 7 turned around to see Akamaru and Kiba.
“It is Naruto!” Kiba smiled and greeted him.
“Kiba! You haven’t changed a bit.”
“Well, I guess this time I haven’t. But soon enough.”
“Kiba.” Sakura smiled and Kiba nodded.
“Did you just get back today?”
“Yeah, this morning. I was actually on my way to check in with Granny Tsunade. Let her know.”
“Yeah, we’ve been sort of on edge around here lately”
Arf!
“Hmm, Really?” Naruto poked out his lower lip looking around. “Doesn’t seem different to me.”
“Well, it might not be that bad.” Kiba chuckled.
“Where’s Shino?”
“Shino’s on a training trip with his father.” Kiba nodded. “Yeah won’t be back till next week.”
“Oh… okay then.”
“Are you two on a date?” Kiba looked between Naruto and Sakura smirking.
“Actually… “
“No, Lee would actually cry if I stood him up.” Sakura made a face.
“Ah!” Naruto yelled pointing at Sakura. “You’re dating fuzzy brows?”
“I didn’t tell you?” She blinked innocently. “I’m giving him an honest try.”
“No way… I just came back and already shot down.” Naruto whined and Kiba laughed at him.
“You haven’t changed much either.”
“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean.”
“Uh-oh.” Kiba looked down the way. A young man was leaning from a window a turned bucket in hand. Down below a young woman stood there in a fancy kimono soaked from head to toe. Evidently the young man had been told to empty the cleaning bucket and he recklessly threw it out the window in his laziness.
“Who…” The voice came out low and quiet. “WHO DID THIS?!?” Well the quiet didn’t last. She glared at someone her hair sticking to her face and body, her Kimono drenched and clinging to her body. If not for the fury an improper man would try to drag her elsewhere and have his way with her.
“H-H-Him…” A little girl who had been caught in the line of vision pointed up and her pale eyes shot up. The little boy ‘eeped and pulled his head back inside.
Two men both similarly featured as the furious young woman moved to knock on the door and all she could do was stand there with her arms held out to the side as water dripped her. Her eyes wildly taking in the sight of water dripping from her person as if it had been blood splattered all over her.
“Crying from the young man was heard before the door opened and a meek woman came to the door. She looked at the soaked female and it all clicked and she began to apologize on her son’s behalf.
“You know how children are. I told him to dump it out back and lazily he threw it out the window not realizing Hyuuga-Sama would be out there. Please forgive him. He’s only a child.”
“You must be a helluva mother.” The young woman spoke up pointed a soaked finger in her face. “Are you married?”
“Excuse me?” The woman blinked.
“Simple question dummy. No wonder your son is the lazy bastard he is. What kind of mother doesn’t correct bad behavior right away?”
“Hyuuga-Sama, I apologized I can’t do much more-” The woman glared. Never talk a person’s child.
“Sorry?” She snorted in her face staring her in the eye. “You think sorry is going to fix this?” Hyuuga-Sama glared. “Do you see this kimono I’m wearing? It is 100% silk and I am drenched in your nasty cleaning water that your boy was too lazy to dispose of properly.” The woman looked. “This kimono is a family heirloom. Can your apology take the watermarks out of it?”
“Well… no…” The woman’s tone dropped.
“Huh?! I can’t hear you!”
“N-No…” The woman just stared.
“Can your apology save me from a random illness? Can your apology for a lazy child-”
“That’s enough, Hinata.” Kiba growled and Akamaru growled softly bearing his teeth in his displeasure.
“I told you don’t address me like a familiar.” Hinata brought up a finger and pointed at Kiba.
“Quit acting like such a bitch. That’s not an heirloom. Accept the apology and move on with your life.” She narrowed her eyes at him.
“Excuse me.”
“What?!?” Hinata turned and the boy knelt; his nose pressed to the dirt.
“I-I-I-I’m sorry!” He sobbed. “Don’t yell at my mommy anymore. It was my fault. I can’t pay something so nice yet, but if you can wait till I save my allowance monies…” The boy had quickly grown snot nosed, but his face remained bowed. She just glared down at the boy.
“Hinata.”
“I said don’t address me so familiar. A third time and you die.” An idle threat they all knew but her temper still remained. They watched longer before she turned to leave.
“Hinata-Sama.” One servant watched the mistress walk off wringing water out of her kimono. The two then looked at each other and took off after the wet mistress.
“She’s still like that?” Sakura sighed bringing a hand to her cheek.
“Yeah.” Kiba rubbed his head. “Its like she’s broken.”
“THAT WAS HINATA?!?” Naruto gaped blatantly pointing, as if he had no manners whatsoever.
“Naruto, you’re loud.” Kiba sighed tiredly.
“What happened to her?” Naruto watched the people tell the woman and child how lucky they were.
“Honestly…” Kiba paused. “We don’t know. They said she was okay after that weird day in Konoha a couple of years ago.” Naruto looked to the ground. “She wasn’t supposed to have been injured too badly and she went home to recuperate and she never came back to being a Shinobi.”
“Is that so?” Naruto felt horrendously guilty.
“Yeah, she resigned herself to the life of the young mistress of the Hyuuga family and made her way through Konoha with that nasty attitude. No one can make it into the Hyuuga household to really speak to her about it, but I think something happened and she got hurt really bad.”
“Really bad…”
“Or maybe this is the true Hinata. I always thought her shyness and innocence was so pure it’s unreal.” Sakura said. “I mean she’d get so flustered she would pass out, especially around Naruto. I mean there is no way anyone could be that pure.”
“Maybe…” Naruto sighed. “But we should get going Sakura-Chan.”
“Oh of course, what would Naruto do without his daily dose of Ramen? Do you even have blood anymore?”
“Probably not. I probably have ramen instead of blood by now.” Naruto chuckled.
“Probably.” Sakura smiled at him, giving him that “you have changed a little” look.
“We’ll, uh, see you Kiba.” Naruto smiled.
“See you.” Kiba nodded as he and Akamaru took off.
“Well come on Naruto. You’re treating!” Sakura kept walking in the direction of Ichiraku Ramen.
“Hinata…” Naruto sighed following Sakura silently. “Did I make a monster out of the nicest girl in the world?”

Now… I wonder how many people did I turn off to this fic by making Hinata a meanie….
