Light filtered through the canopy, hitting the six bodies leaping silently from branch to branch. The young pink haired girl looked at her blond friend. “Naruto, I think I finally understand you, understand your life. It…. Its inside you isn’t it? The Kyubi! That’s why you were hated isn’t it? Everyone… even me looked down on you, not even knowing why,” she bowed her head with shame and continued, “I can’t believe you went through that, and I’m just as bad, never…” a tear slowly slid down her cheek.
Naruto looked over at her, “Is everything ok Sakura-Chan?” His bright blue eyes shined brightly as he grinned at his friend. She looked up, wiping the tear away. “I’m… I’m fine, got something in my eye Naruto” She whispered to herself “even after everything we’ve been through, that he’s been through, he can still smile, he’s always happy. He’d die for me, and I was always just rude to him, insulting, no, not anymore… ok Naruto! No more!”
A deep voice rang out behind her “Glad to hear it Sakura-Chan!!!” Sakura turned toward the ninja dressed all in green, holding the copy ninja on his back.
“Gai-sensei, do you believe what Sasori said? The hunt for the Bijuu and the Jinchuuriki?” looking back at Naruto as she said it.
“I do, but not to worry Sakura. As long as we have the springtime of youth on our side, we cannot be beaten!” he thrust his thumb forward, smiling.
“I don’t care, we just need to stop them, I won’t let what happened to Gaara happen to anyone else, ANYONE ELSE!” The smile on the young boys face faded, replaced with a look of feral angst, engulfed with an evil red chakra!
“Naruto-kun, we all feel as you do, not wanting it to happen to others. Gaara-kun saved my life, so I hold him every bit as dear as you do! The problem being we have no confirmation that what was said is true; do not get me wrong my friend. Should it be true, I am with you ‘til the end, we shall not let it happen again, of this, you have my promise,” Lee smirked, thrusting his thumb toward Naruto.
The glow faded and Naruto’s smile returned slowly, “Thanks Fuzzy-Brows, but I can handle it, you’ll just slow me down,” his smile shone brightly, bringing warmth to his companions.
“I will prove myself against you again Naruto-kun, I am the better Ninja, even with just my tai-jutsu, and we will see who has become the strongest since you left for your training!” Lee gave the blond nin a warm smile.

With Kakashi safely taken to the hospital, only Naruto, Sakura and the rest of team were left to give the mission report to Hokage Tsunade. “I am aware of another Jinchuuriki, the Jinchuuriki of the Nibi, the Two Tailed cat.” The blonde Hokage sat with her fingers crossed before her, looking piercingly into the eyes of Naruto.
He glared back at her. “Where…. where can I find them? I have to go to them; they need to be aware of what’s going on, they need protecting if possible, another cannot fall to the Akatsuki! I will not allow it! I have to get to them Granny Tsunade”
“No! Naruto, you know as well as I do that you cannot put your life on the line in such a manner, they are after all, after you also. The Elders forbid it, and I also, I do not want you in that kind of danger. I simply cannot allow it,” she said, still glaring into his eyes.
“I must go, sanctioned or not, I knew when I became a ninja, there would be danger, if I wasn’t aware I’d be an idiot,” Sakura rolled her eyes, “I know I was hyper before, but I am all to aware of the dangers this life holds for me, and I am all too aware of that which is inside of me, that is exactly why I must do this! I cannot let this happen to anyone else, I won’t let anyone else get hurt like Gaara did! I won’t give up! That is my nendo... my ninja way!”
“Are you aware you could face the same fate that Gaara almost did?” Anger was clearly building in her eyes, “and then we’d not only have lost you, but the Nine Tails would be in the hands of the Akatsuki!”
Gai opened his mouth, “Sorry Tsunade-samma, I am with Naruto-kun in this situation, I saw what happened to Gaara, and I cannot stand by as more people are harmed or victimized by that horrible organization, Uchiha Itachi will not take any more victims!” He slammed his fists together and yelled, “I will not allow it!”
Tsunade pondered for a while, sitting with her eyes closed, finally seeming to arrive at a decision. “I will send Team Gai. I want you to discover the Jinchuuriki, report back if the person seems to be free of danger. If they are in danger, warn them, and offer them sanctuary within the Leaf Village. Naruto, I want you to stay here with Sakura and look after Kakashi-sensei until I have a different mission for you.”
“You can’t stop- !” a soft hand covered Naruto’s mouth before he could finish his sentence.
“What Naruto means to say Tsunade-sensei, is that he is very worried, as are we all” Sakura stared into Tsunade’s eyes for what felt like forever.
“Granny Tsunade, you must let me go, this person could be killed, and there may be no one there to help them!” Naruto begged hopefully. “I SAID NO!” Naruto turned and stormed out, followed by a glow of red chakra.

How dare she, Naruto thought as he threw himself down on a chair, still engulfed in red, anger boiling up inside him. How the hell dare she… What if this person is like me? No, they’re definitely like me, but what if they didn’t get someone close to them, they could be all alone… it’s not fair! DAMN YOU GRANNY TSUANDE! A rustling bush took his attention away; he spread the bush and was eye to eye with a familiar face “Hinata!”
“N-a-a-a-r-r-u-u-t-t-o-o-ku-ku-kun, H-h-h-i-i……” her face went bright red as she nervously twiddled her fingers.
“How are you doing Hinata? It’s been ages, truly” he threw his arm around her, pulling her in for a tight embrace. ‘Naruto’s… touching… me…I-I-I-I-I-I” Her whole body went red as she passed out in his arms. “Hinata?”

“What’s the meaning of this Iruka?!” the blonde Hokage screamed at the Jonin Teacher.
“Tsunade, you have to take a moment and try and see where the boy is coming from. He lived his life alone, with no one to protect him, to be there for him when he made it home at night. No one cared if he lived or died, most hoping for the latter. He’s had to fight to get the respect he has, the friends he has. He hates to see people in the situation he was in, why do you think he cared so much about Gaara? To him, Gaara was a kindred spirit; such is the new Jinchuuriki. He hates the fact that he can’t do anything for them, but can’t you understand why he is feeling this way? Why he feels so… so angry?”
“I understand it Iruka, don’t you think I wish I could allow it, I shouldn’t have even sent him to the sand, sometimes I think it’d be better to just stop him from being a ninja, but this is his whole life. I don’t think he could survive if we took this away from him.”
“Can’t you just let him go Tsunade-samma? You know he’s strong, and it’ll put his mind at ease.”
“Yeah but instead of having one Jinchuuriki, they could end up with two, I don’t want to put the boy into that kind of danger, not to mention it could put this other Jinchuuriki into danger should we lead the Akatsuki to them. I understand that this boy means a lot to you, he does to me and I don’t want to see him hurt.”
“Neither do I Tsunade-samma, trust me, that’s the last thing I want, but he’s trained so hard to be ready to take them down. He’ll have to face them eventually anyway, we can’t baby him forever,” The scared teacher looked calmly into the beautiful Hokage’s eyes.
“I would, but in this case, my hands are well and truly tied, the Elders will not allow it I’ve been ordered to keep Naruto here at all costs,” she sighed deeply, her anger at the situation evident.
Iruka smirked, “It’s not like you to take orders from anyone Hokage-samma.”
“You’re right… Shizuni bring me Naruto Uzumaki!”

The beautiful Hokage stood quietly behind her desk looking into the eyes of her subordinates, “Team Gai, Naruto Uzumaki, I have decided to make a change. I hereby charge you with the Mission to the Clouds. You are to locate, and protect the Jinchuuriki of the Nibi and escort this person back to Konoha where they will be under our protection completely.”
A bright smile spread across the young ninja’s face. “Thank you Granny Tsunade…Thank you, but what about the rest of Team Kakashi?”
“I currently have Sakura working with an extensive medical team to stabilize Kakashi, but they are unable to accompany you, it’ll be a five man unit, with of course Gai-sensei as the lead.” she turned to look the young blonde in the eyes, “and Naruto, please, please be safe.”
“I will. Thank you Tsunade-Chan!”

(This is my first Naruto fanfic, I have a whole story planned for this, but reviews are welcome :-) )
