Ok, I suck at titles - I admit that much... but anyways - here comes the[Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto...]
The song that you can find in the middle of this is My beautiful FlowerDesert Lion
Gaara growled as his sister tried to
pull him out of the car. Summer camp – the word itself was that of pure horror
to the green eyed teen. He had no desire to be here, he would rather roam the
streets back in town.
“Let me go!!” snarled the 17 year
old red head.
“Stop this nonsense Gaara. This camp
will be good for you,” said Temari and finally got him out of the car.
“I don’t want to be here!”
“You can’t go on living the life you are
now living. You must change or else you’ll end up in prison. You need new
friends and here you can find those that are the same as you.”
“You are crazy! Nobody is like me!!”
Temari sighed and silently agreed with
her younger brother. Nobody was like him. But this was something that the social
workers said had to be done, this or juvenile hall for Gaara. Temari had no
choice.
Gaara growled again but silenced when he saw the sadness in his sister’s blue
eyes. He took a deep breathe before reaching for his bag.
“Alright Temari-neechan, but this will
be the last time you decide for me how I should live my life – remember that!!”
“I love you little brother,” said Temari
and hugged Gaara.
“Don’t do that!!”
“S-sorry, but please…. Gaara, don’t do
anything that will destroy your future,” begged Temari.
“I can’t promise anything like that and
you know it Temari-neechan,” said Gaara and hoisted the bag over his right
shoulder. “But I can promise to try and stay out trouble, will that make you
happy?”
Temari nodded with tears in her eyes.
“Take care now, Gaara-chan,” she
whispered.
“Yeah… I will… You too ok? And tell
Kankurou that I will be alright?”
“Of course Gaara…”
Gods it hurt to part from her little
brother. She had been taking care of her two brothers since… since forever it
seemed like. She had managed to pull Kankurou out of the heroin swamp and he was
now attending art school. The boy had always an artistic vein in his body. But
Gaara, he had been more troublesome, getting into fights that always ended in
him pounding the other person black and blue. He had this summer to clean up his
act and Temari would die before she saw her little panda-bear in prison. But
leaving him in a place where he didn’t want to be was hurting her heart more
than she thought it would. But she had no choice, not unless she wanted to see
him go away for several years.
“I love you Gaara, always remember
that,” she whispered as she closed the door to the car and drove away.
Gaara felt a sting in his chest when
Temari disappeared down the road. He might not care much about the rest of the
world, but he would die for his little family, which consisted of only Temari
and Kankurou. Temari had sacrificed much in order to make their family function,
but alas, she could only do so much. He was an anti-social creature, he would
rather sit alone, dreaming, thinking and he didn’t mingle with others. But
somehow he always drew attention to himself, people who didn’t like those that
were different. And Gaara was different and he did defend himself, but since he
always lost his temper he always ended up being the bad guy.
He let out a curse and walked over to
the office to report in, and of course, he was the last one to do so, which the
woman behind the desk sourly pointed out for him. He was shown to the meeting
room and he found to be cramped with people. There were the others that were
just like him and there were the teachers or leaders that would help them
through the summer. He found a place in the far back, his green eyes scanning
the room. His eyes stopped when he saw a black haired girl with a bob cut. In
her hand she held a white stick and next to her she had a dog with special made
collar and leash.
‘A blind girl?’
he thought and watched her more closely. She was shaking slightly and he guessed
she was nervous or perhaps even frightened. But he couldn’t understand what a
timid and scared girl was doing here and on top of it all, she was blind. Gaara
couldn’t figure it out. He saw a man; a few years older than himself walk up to
the girl, placing a heavy hand on her shoulder to get her attention. Suddenly
Gaara felt the need to know what they were talking about and he took a few steps
closer.
“Hinata-sama, I’m sorry, but they don’t
allow dogs here at the camp,” said the man.
“N-Neji-niisan, please, don’t take
Akamaru away from me,” begged the girl and Gaara could from his position see
tears form under her closed eyes.
“I’m sorry Hinata-sama; you will have to
make due with your stick this time. Don’t worry, you’ll be fine, you are here to
train your abilities,” said the man and Gaara wanted to punch his face to pieces
for making her feel uncomfortable like that.
‘Why am I feeling so protective all
of a sudden? I don’t know her…’ Gaara thought,
confused over his feelings that he was having towards the girl.
“Please… Neji-niisan, I need Akamaru!!”
”I’m sorry, I can’t help you with this
Hinata-sama,” said the man obviously named Neji. And with that he grabbed the
leash and walked away with the dog. He didn’t even say good bye to his sister.
‘What an asshole…,’
thought Gaara and snorted and folded his arms and slid down behind the black
haired girl. He could her quiet sobs and it disturbed him. And again he cared
because?? ‘Fuck, I’m already going crazy and I haven’t been here two hours
yet.’
The rest of the hour he didn’t listen
very carefully, but he knew that the owner of the camp introduced herself. For a
second Gaara almost dropped his cold face, the woman had the largest pair of
breasts he had ever seen. Then the leaders introduced themselves as well, but by
now, Gaara’s attention was back with the blind girl. It was not until he heard
her name being called by one of the leaders.
“Hyuuga, Hinata?”
“Y-Yes?” Gaara heard her trembling voice
answer as she stood up, her fingers tightly gripped the white stick in her hand.
“It’s your turn to draw the name of the
person that shall be your roommate for the rest of the summer,” the leader named
Iruka said and held out a bowl of small folded papers. He gently grasped her
hand and guided it to the bowl.
Just seeing another man touch her made
Gaara see red but he swallowed the eruption of sudden jealousy and again he was
convinced that he was going crazy.
The girl picked out a small piece of
paper and Iruka read it. “Sabaku, Gaara…?”
‘Ehh, what the fuck??’
And without noticing it, he had let out a surprising sound,
notifying the teacher of his presence.
”Oh, good, you are already sitting here behind her, you will be Hinata-san’s
roommate for the rest of the summer,” said Iruka with a soft smile and Gaara was
ready to kill. There was no chance in hell he would was going to be stuck to a
blind chick for the rest of the summer.
But as the rest of the youngsters were
given roommates he realized that he couldn’t get away. He growled and rose to
his feet and within two seconds he had grabbed her wrist and pulled her along as
he almost stormed out of the meeting room. He didn’t hear her small protests.
“Stair, two steps down,” he mumbled as
he came to the door and opened it. He left her just enough time to get down
before he began walk again. He saw the key-ring in his hand, it read 8, and he
searched for cabin no. 8. He found it to be last in a row of cabins, closest to
the woods. “Stairs, three steps up. Doorknob to your left, opens to the right.”
Gaara unlocked it and led the girl
inside. “Two separate beds on the right, table and four chairs to the left. Five
metres ahead, two doors. The one on the left goes to the kitchen and the one on
the right is the bathroom.” He flopped down on one of the beds and his bag next
to it.
Hinata said something but being the
quiet being she was, he didn’t quite hear her. “What?” snarled Gaara irritated
that he had to be stuck with her.
“M-my b-bag… I… well… uhm…,” she
whispered totally mortified that she had forgotten it back at the meeting room.
“What does it looks like and where did
you left it?” growled Gaara and stood up from the bed. She began to stutter
again and he had to bite together not to scare her too much. “Just spit it out
will ya girl!!”
“ It’s black with a… a.. w-white lily
s-sown into i-it. The m-meeting room,” came the soft answer and without saying
anything else, Gaara stormed out through the door.
Hinata was at lost and she felt her way
over to one of the beds and sunk down on it. She could feel new tears sting
behind her eyelids. Her dog had been taken away from her and now she was stuck
with a boy that seemed to be angry with her for some reason. ‘Why Father, why
did you send me here? Why couldn’t I just live in the mansion like I always
have?’ she asked silently as the tears began to fall from her eyes. Her
hands tightened around the stick she always had with her and she wanted to
disappear from the face of the earth.
Gaara found the bag and picked it up and
was about to exit the room when he was confronted with the woman with the
enormous chest. She stopped him and looked at him with hazel brown eyes.
“Sabaku, Gaara was it?” she asked him
and Gaara nodded. “You have Hyuuga, Hinata as you roommate?” He nodded again,
wanting to just get away from it all. “You know, your sister approached me the
other day, she told me some very interesting stuff, are they true?”
“What did she say?” was Gaara’s only
answer to her question.
“She said that you were one of the odd
people in our society and that you rather sit alone than mingle with others. She
said that you didn’t want others to mess with you and most of the time you only
defended yourself but ended up loosing your temperament and thus beating the
other one into oblivion… is it true?”
“Perhaps.”
The woman with the enormous breast began
to laugh and she put an arm around the red head before she silenced and looked
at him with hard brown eyes. “You know Gaara… If I see you hurt the little girl
you are staying with…. juvenile hall and a life time in prison will seem like a
holiday in the tropics, do we understand each other?”
Gaara swallowed and nodded.
“Good, because Hinata-san is not here
because she’s been causing troubles to others. She’s here because she needs to
work on her self-acceptance and her confidence. And since you are now her
roommate I will expect you to help her with that – and you will help her with
that – am I right?”
“Ehh?”
“Come on brat – I may have a few grey
hairs in this wig of mine, but don’t you ever doubt my abilities. I both saw
and heard you when you ran off just when the meeting was over. You guided her
perfectly. Better then any other person would have done. Tell me Gaara – have
you been with blind persons before?”
“No.”
“How odd, because you did that guiding
as if you had done it a thousand times before.”
“Seen others,” came Gaara’s growling
reply.
“Nevertheless, you helped her in a way
that no other would have in this place. But still…. You have an obligation here
this summer Gaara-san, and that is to make sure that Hinata gains her confidence
back – and if I hear a word about you treating her badly I will break every bone
in your body and you will still be alive for your own funeral, do we understand
each other?” said Tsunade sternly.
“Yes.”
“Good, now run along boy before she
misses you too much.”
Gaara looked confused.
“You are carrying her bag aren’t ya?
Because I don’t thing flowers like that are your style Gaara-san,” said Tsunade
with a wide smile and pointed towards the black bag in Gaara’s hand.
He left, mortified over her words and
her laugh was still ringing in his ears as he opened the door to the cabin he
was going to share with Hinata for the rest of the summer. ‘I hate this place
already…’

Hinata heard the door open and close and
she turned her face towards the sound.
“Gaara-san?” she hesitantly asked.
“Yeah, got your bag, so shut up now,”
said Gaara with a silent threat that if she bothered him again she would be in
trouble.
“Thank you Gaara-san… but p-please… tell
me… have I done something t-to anger you?” she asked as she put the bag he had
shoved into her hands onto the bed she had been sitting on just moments ago.
“You exist,” came the short reply, the
threats from the Dolly Parton wannabe-woman blown out the window already.
“I’m sorry if I’m c-causing you trouble
G-Gaara-san,” stuttered Hinata and felt as if she wanted to sink through the
floor to be buried within the earth itself.
“Just shut up and we both will be
happy,” snarled Gaara and fell back on the bed. How was he supposed to survive
this hell hole?
To his surprise she didn’t say anything
else; instead he saw her fumble around with her bag and pulled out a mp3-player
and a set of headphones. Her fingers moved over the surface of the player and
then she lied down on the bed, her eyes still closed and he could hear the very
soft tunes of music coming from her headset. She was plying music – very loud
music. Odd he thought since a blind person was dependent on their hearing to
survive.
And why was he disturbed by the fact
that she was crying softly? She didn’t make a noise but he could clearly see
those liquid drops of crystals flow from the corner of her eyes. And still, he
had not seen her open her eyes – not once. ‘I hate this fucking summer camp
shit.’

Hinata understood him. Don’t ask why,
but she did. She had no desire to be here either and if she was being forced to
live with a person that couldn’t take two steps on her own and instead was being
glued to a pillar of cement, she would rather run free in the woods. Yeah, she
understood Gaara perfectly.
The words of the first song echoed
through the headphones and Hinata was soon lost in them.
We`re going to a nice place..
Your mouth blooms like a cut
Sweet and full of sin
I prick myself on your thorns
And I bleed within
Your leaves fade to brown
And I watch you die
In my torture garden
Under black sunshine
My beautiful flower
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me..
Our love starts to spoil
Your lips bleed like a rose
Underneath the soil
Is where the evil grows
Your petals start to fall
And the weeds attack
In my torture garden
The blue sky is black
My beautiful flower
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
Your mouth blooms like a cut
Sweet and full of sin
I prick myself on your thorns
And I bleed within
Our love starts to spoil
Your lips bleed like a rose
Underneath the soil
Is where the evil grows
I am earth..
You can feel me touch you
Hear me breathe...
Coz` it`s my air that loves you
And I am fire...
You will feel me burn you
Come inside...
And I`ll be water with you
He loves me not
He loves me
He loves me not
He loves me
It was dark, it was haunting, it fitted
her soul just fine at the moment. Nobody knew about her dark taste in music and
she had no desire to let anyone know about it either. But as the last words of
the song died out she stopped the player and she removed the headphones and for
the first time that day she opened her unseeing eyes. Unknowingly of the pair of
green eyes that was looking right at her the moment she choose to open her
eyes.
