Sexy no Omake | By : bucketmouse Category: Naruto > Yaoi - Male/Male Views: 1272 -:- Recommendations : 0 -:- Currently Reading : 0 |
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Notes: This
started out as part of a Naruto RP of Gai (The Mysterious S) and Kakashi (myself) going on a mission. After the fact, I had realized
at some point it would have been funny if Kakashi had used the Sexy no Jutsu,
and we decided to do a little scene for if that had happened instead. Thus, the
monster of the ‘Sexy no Omake’ was born. Though it’s been over one hundred
pages in Word since that happened, we don’t have a better name for it and don’t
really need one. This is just for our personal enjoyment, but a few other
people have expressed interest in it so I’m posting it in case anyone wants to
read. So this is actually a co-authored ‘fic’ by myself
and someone who wishes only to be known as The Mysterious S, I just lost the
coin toss to post this.
The actual beginning of the RP will be posted here for the sake of
continuity so no one has to go “What the fuck just happened?!” You’ll know when
it gets to the ‘start’ of the omake that created the monster. It’s when Kakashi
gets totally boobular.
Warning: This is
filled with some pretty cheesy cliché shit. Seriously. Read at your own risk.
Like I said, we were doing this for our own amusement and so we could be stupid
fangirls and NOT affect the actual plot of the game (allowing us to gratify our
fangirl urges and yet keep Kakashi and Gai actually IC). In much later chapters
there will be an OC, but he’s mostly as a walking plot device. Still, heads up
now.
Disclaimer: Naruto and
all things relating to it in this story are so not mine that it isn’t even funny.
They also aren’t The Mysterious S’s. Unless she is not telling me something.

It was a fresh morning and a cool wind was blowing chasing dark clouds
across the steel grey sky. Gai stood at the looming wooden gates that allowed
entry into Konoha. This was not the first mission he would be paired with
Kakashi for, and he fully expected that the other man would either turn up to
late or barely on time. That hadn't stopped him from being earlier. Thoughts of
this mission had driven him from his comfortable futon earlier than he had
planned and after he had finished his morning warm up he had found himself
without anything left to do so he had turned to waiting which in his years of
association with Kakashi he had honed to perfection.
Ten minutes late - a drop in the pond, for Kakashi as far as lateness
goes - the scarecrow ninja could be seen strolling up the path to the gates.
When he got within sight, he gave Gai a minor wave, barely a movement of the
hand. “Yo."
"Good Morning my eternal rival!" Gai greeted him
boisterously.
"Are you ready to do your best for the sake of our mission and
Konoha?" Falling into step besides
the other man they left Konoha behind them.
"Yeah, yeah." Kakashi waved his hand, always laid back. Never
ruffled. This mission's outlook seemed barely worth their time, but he could
always use time to relax.
"We should get this done as fast as we can." he added, a
veiled dedication in his voice.
"Of course" Gai nodded, his as always immaculate hair bobbing
with the movement. He had to admit that when he had rejoined the ANBU he had
not expected to be presented with a mission such as this. Undercover was
something Gai was not particularly experienced with due to his easily
recognizable appearance and mannerisms. And undercover in a private Onsen
resort? He had never heard of anything of this sort and for a moment weighed
the chance of this being an elaborate hoax of the Hokage. But no, aside from
the unique location there was no reason to be suspicious of this mission.
"We should be there in less than 2 days" he remarked in an attempt to
start a conversation.
"And back within four, with any luck." Kakashi added. It
wasn't that he disliked spending the time with Gai. ... But a magazine that
came out in exactly six days had a teaser chapter for the next Icha Icha book
in it, and Kakashi simply couldn't miss it. The mission promised to be
uneventful, sure, but... there was then the matter of Gai. Nothing with Gai involved
was uneventful.
It would be nice to camp outside, though, as they traveled. And he
couldn't really complain about staying in an Onsen resort and calling that
work.
Gai nodded the fell into a thoughtful silence a frown making itself know on his face. Kakashi had received the details of
just where they where supposed to retrieve the information from and how to get
there. "What are the exact specifications?" he finally asked.
Kakashi shrugged. "There isn't much to it. The Onsen is a 'themed'
one, it caters to men only. We're to pose as a couple on a romantic getaway,
apparently the place is full of them this time of year, so it won't be anything
out of the ordinary. Headbands get put away once we get close to the village
it's in, though, we're to act as civilians. I believe you were already told the
briefer on the information itself that we're to gather, right?"
So surprised was Gai at this scenario they would be need to up hold
that he almost didn't hear Kakashi's question. With an absent-minded nod he
automatically quoted what they had been told about the information they were
supposed to retrieve. "The cousin of the fire country's daimyo fears that
some of his retainers have been plotting against him. Two of them frequent this
spa quite regularly we are supposed to gather all the information we can
without revealing our presence. Once we have the necessary evidence we return
to Konoha where the matter will be turned over to the Daimyo."
Kakashi nodded. "That's right." he stretched his arms up high
above his head. "Maa, I'm going to be looking forward to taking a relaxing
bath in the onsen."
Keeping his head facing the road Gai did his very best not to think
about Kakashi among the men they would encounter there languidly relaxing in
the hot water, the steam making his usually untamable hair droop. As Gai's very
best was exceedingly impressive he managed to keep his reaction to these
thought to the minimum of a barely visible blush staining the bridge of his
nose. "We will need to change clothes as well before we enter," he
mentioned, alluding to his own and Kakashi‘s vests and all around shinobi
apparel.
Kakashi didn't seem too affected by that idea, himself. That, or it
hadn't occurred to him. He simply nodded once more. "I took the liberty of
grabbing some civilian clothing for you before I left. We can change when we
stop for camp tonight, that way we're going the rest of the road in
disguise."
"That's a good idea my eternal rival." Squashing all
non-mission related thoughts with only a force a Maito Gai was capable of he
smiled at Kakashi. "It's going to be nice night tonight, I'm sure. A bit
cool maybe but very clear" It was a rather impudent statement considering
the towering dark clouds that hung in the sky and looked like they would start
spilling out a torrent of water any second.
Kakashi glanced up at the sky. He glanced over to Gai. He glanced up to
the sky once more.
"If it rains, it's your fault." He stated.
"No worry's my weather predictions have never failed before!"
That was accompanied with an optimistic thumb up and a sparkling white smile.
Kakashi had dealt with the nice guy pose often enough to be unaffected
by it. He took one more glance up at the sky before continuing on.
The day had passed with little to make it memorable, filled with
walking, walking and some more walking broken up by Gai challenging Kakashi to
various walking involving dares. No the sun had begun to set and was dyeing the
sky in various pink and red tones. On an unspoken signal both men stopped and
looked around for a place to camp for the night.
Kakashi pointed out a spot by a few tightly packed together trees,
which would offer good coverage if it started to rain, and was shielded safely
by bushes from the road. "How about there?"
Nodding Gai moved over and started to prepare a fire pit. "Could
you get some firewood?" he inquired after a minute while looking for
stones to line the fire with.
Kakashi nodded, setting down his pack and leaving to look for firewood
without a sound. Although Gai had promised the rain would not come, and Kakashi
knew Gai was a man of his word, he couldn't ignore the ominous clouds above and
got enough firewood to last them until morning, intending to place the extra
under a dry shelter in case it started raining. If it did, it'd be impossible
to keep the fire going for lack of things for it to burn.
Still ignoring the weather Gai cheerfully turned to preparing the food
they would cook over the fire. It was almost like many of the missions he had
gone on with his genins. He almost expected to have Neji and Lee return from
gathering firewood with Lee loudly proclaiming that since he had picked up all
the branches under the time limit Sakura would one day look at him with loving
eyes and Neji blithely ignoring him. It was almost a disappointment to see
Kakashi return and drag him back to the reality of his situation.
This did not go unnoticed. "Wishing you were here with someone
else?" he commented, separating the wood for the pile they would use now
and that which would be saved for later, which he stored under the safety of
the waterproof blanket he brought. He would not need it, if it rained, he could
afford getting soaked for one night and spend the next in the hot springs water.
"Not really, I was just reminded of camping out with my cute
students" A proud smile glowed on his face. "Sometimes I miss them.
What about you Kakashi? How is Sakura doing?" with the utter tactlessness
that let him get away with running around all day in a skin-tight jumpsuit Gai
blundered straight through a topic that everybody else would have avoided to
bring up with the other man at all costs.
Kakashi fell silent for a moment, looking off into the distance.
"...I wouldn't know." He said, sitting down and rummaging through his
pack for nothing in particular.
"But surely you have talked to her, right? After all even with
Tsunade-sama as her mentor you still are her sensei." By now Gai had
managed to make small fire and was busy keeping it from going out so he didn't
notice Kakashi's behavior.
"I'm not." Kakashi said, simply. "You might not have
gone back to being a full time ANBU, but I have. I hear she's doing well,
though." Kakashi shrugged. He removed his Jounin vest and began to remove
the things that he would need to hide on his disguise tomorrow.
Gai sighed and watched Kakashi busy himself with his equipment.
"She's a good girl."
"She is." Kakashi agreed, and then spoke again before he
could stop himself. "She could have used a better teacher."
Remembering something to take Gai's attention away from the current
situation, he took the civilian clothing out and tossed them over to him.
"This is your disguise. Hope it fits."
Well aware of the fact that Kakashi had diverted the conversation Gai
caught the civilian clothes. It had been literally years since he had worn
anything else but his jumpsuit and he almost felt nostalgic when he got a good
look at the clothes. "Thank you my eternal rival. I will wear them with
the same pride as my uniform!"
Standing up he held them against his chest and legs to see whether they
would fit.
It appeared that Kakashi had chosen well, for the clothing seemed the
perfect size. It would be good to get him out of the green uniform, Kakashi
decided, mentally adding a cynical thought that maybe there was an attractive man
hiding behind it. Instead of voicing any of these, he just said, "Your
uniform would stick out."
Laughing Gai had to agree with that, perfect for training and fighting
as it may be the jumpsuit was not what one would call inconspicuous. But at
Kakashi's words an idea struck him, much the way a bolt of lightning strikes a
tree. "What about your mask Kakashi, I doubt that that would not STICK out
either." A mischievous sparkle was gleaming in his eyes.
Kakashi pulled something white out of his bag. It was a paper medical
mask that covered the nose and mouth, but still allowed breathing.
"Allergies." He stated, calmly.
Sighing but not really surprised that Kakashi had once again found a
way to conceal his face Gai shook his head with a fond smile. Some things never
changed and sometimes it was good to be reminded of them. "As expected
from my eternal rival. An ingenious disguise." Having decided that the
clothes would probably fit his muscular frame he began a repeat of the
procedure Kakashi had begun, removing all of the essentials he carried in his
vest and hiding them in the fabric. "Did you see a pond or a stream when
you were gathering firewood?" he wondered, after all it would only make
sense that if there was a hot spring here there might be a small spring close
by.
Kakashi nodded. "There's a small pond about half a mile off that
way," he pointed in a way opposite of the road. He put the mask back in
the bag for now, relaxing in his Jounin shirt and pants.
"I'll get some water to cook with then" Taking one of the
small cooking vessels that were a standard in every pack Gai set out with a
determined stride in the direction Kakashi had pointed.
While Gai was gone, Kakashi considered, then took the liberty of
undressing and redressing in the clothing he'd brought as a disguise. Over the
night they might get a little dirty, then, and so look like they had actually
been traveled in. It also gave him a chance to change his mask over without Gai
around. To cover his eye, a simple black headband that took the place of his
forehead protector worked.
Returning roughly an hour later Gai had pot full of water and hair that
clung to him in damp clumps, the legs of his jumpsuit were literally soaked up
to the knees and the only really dry fabric was the headband wrapped around his
waist. Setting down the pot he grabbed the clothes without comment and wandered
of into the surrounding trees again.
The next time he entered their sparse camp he was almost unrecognizable
as the same Maito Gai. The eternal green jumpsuit was rolled in a bundle under
one arm and the civilian clothes comfortable hung of his frame making him look
...oddly normal in a completely abnormal way.
Kakashi raised the visible eyebrow as he watched Gai return, then
vanish once more. His eyebrow shot up even further upon his return, and
although he said nothing his surprise was evident at how different Gai looked.
"Mou, and here I thought I'd never see you out of that green
thing." Kakashi said.
Scratching his head in a rather out of character show of nervousness
Gai chuckled. "It certainly has been a while.“ Hanging his jumpsuit over a
nearby branch so that it could dry he returned to the fire. "Do you want
to cook? I'm afraid my culinary talent isn't as well developed as I would like
it to be." It almost physically hurt having to admit a flaw to the other
man, but it also physically hurt to eat his own cooking so Gai figured it was
worth it.
Kakashi blinked. He was actually surprised, and just assumed that Gai
had somehow found a reason to find a way to cook better than his rival.
"Alright..." Kakashi sat up to get a very simple meal ready for them.
He was about to ask if that counted as a win for him, then realized it would
not be a good idea to let Gai know he occasionally listened to the words that
came out of his mouth.
After finishing the meal, which much to his sorrow he had to admit was
a lot better than anything he could have procured himself. Gai comfortable
stretched out on a grassy patch between the trees that where moonlight filtered
through the branches and stared up into the sky where as promised not a single
cloud remained and the starts glimmered even brighter than usual. "Thank
you for the meal." He murmured quietly unwilling to break the peaceful
atmosphere that was seeping through the forest.
Kakashi was leaning against a tree trunk, looking up at the spotty
light between its branches. "You're welcome. ... Get some sleep. I'll keep
watch for the first half of the night."
Humming a content reply Gai folded his hand behind his head and continued
to gaze at the stars, quickly dozing of.
Kakashi tilted his head back and watched the sky through the trees,
relaxing in the peaceful scene but careful to stay awake. He allowed himself
the liberty of pulling his mask down while Gai slept, and he was effectively
alone with only the stars for company. It was times like these he cherished and
hated. Cherished for the peace of body they brought, but hated for the ease the
guilt could consume him.
Gai snorted and rolled onto his side mumbling something under his
breath that could have been any thing from 'I'm a little tea cup' to 'and
someday I shall rule the world' before falling back into a deeper sleep,
snoozing peacefully, completely unaware of the mental torment his companion was
suffering.
Kakashi let Gai sleep. At least one of them found peace. For a moment
he felt resentment to the other man, his team was still around...
...Then again, he was a teacher. Kakashi was surprised that Gai had
actually passed the ANBU test. He didn't doubt his 'rival's skills, he knew
very well Gai was good. Maybe better than him, even. But Gai was... soft. He
loved his students. He was a teacher, and his heart was warm. Kakashi's had
been frozen for a long time now... and just when it started to thaw, those that
caused it got hurt. Both could be dead now and he wouldn't know, even. Sasuke
probably was as good as dead.
So immersed in his own self-hatred Kakashi didn't even notice the
passage of time until he could hear the first birds start to awaken.
It was a particularly penetrating bird's chirping that finally managed
to drag Gai back to the surface of consciousness. Blinking hazy eyes he sat up
and blearily regarded his surroundings and Kakashi. Choosing not to mention the
fact that apparently Kakashi's definition of the first half of the night was
decidedly different from the rest of the human race he got up and staggered
into the nearby underbrush to relieve himself. Having finished his business he
moved back with a hint more of the grace once could expect of one of Konoha's
best Taijutsu specialists. "Good morning my eternal rival" he chimed
as he one again laid eyes on Kakashi.
Kakashi was thankful he was in the shadow of the tree at that point in
the morning, and had pulled up his mask once Gai awoke. "Yo." he
said, suddenly realizing how little sleep he got. He could survive on it, of
course, easily, but it was not something he cared to do.
Also, he had a reputation to maintain and was a little interested in
making himself feel better in an attempt to get an amusing reaction out of Gai.
"Wake me when it's noon." Kakashi said, curling up on the
ground and looking like he was preparing to sleep.
Giving his partner a perplexed look Gai looked like he would protest
before a grin shimmied its way onto his face. Something was working under that
bowl cut and Gai seemed visibly satisfied with whatever it was that had popped
up in his brain. "Certainly."
Kakashi was actually surprised at the way Gai just let him do as he wanted.
He greatly wanted to know what was going on in the other ninja's head, but he
had a sharingan, not a byakugan, and that was likely to just show him the
chakra flow of the brain, anyway. Well, he couldn't complain about getting some
sleep. He shrugged, and let a dreamless relaxation overtake him.
After a quick breakfast that consisted of bread, water and more bread
Gai began to pack away their equipment again, all the time keeping an eye on
the slumbering from under the tree.
When everything was once again properly returned to their packs he took
a moment to study Kakashi as the other man slept. Not that there was much of
the man to see with his face almost completely covered by the headband and the
mask and the silver-grey hair falling into his face. Once he was completely
certain that the other had reached the deepest period off sleep due to the
gentle fluttering of the one visible eyelid he cautiously crept closer until he
was near enough to touch the other man.
Bolstering his courage once again with the passionate fires of youth
Gai reached out and gently grabbed Kakashi. Moving slowly as not to awaken him
he then managed to maneuver his sleeping comrade so that he rested against his
back. From there on it was easy to thread one arm underneath his legs while the
other secured his arms around Gai's neck.
Confident that Kakashi would not fall off he stood and with the hand
that had been responsible for his arms grabbed their bags to sling over one
broad shoulder. "Yosh! If I don't manage half the way before you wake up I
will do 500 one handed handstand-push up‘s" he swore softly before he
returned to the road and began their trek anew.
Kakashi, of course, awoke by the time Gai started putting the bags on.
He kept his eyes closed and his body relaxed anyway, feigning sleep until he
could find out who the assailant was. Gai's soft promise alerted him that this
was no assailant, but a hyperactive, over-working team-mate. Still, Kakashi
rationalized to himself that he was only doing this to keep Gai from taking up
more of their time on doing those 500 push-ups. And Kakashi knew he would, too,
come hell or high water. Trying his best to ignore the
feeling of warmth he knew he didn't deserve, Kakashi tightened his arms around
Gai's shoulders, just a little, and let himself drift back to sleep for the
time being.
Trotting along at a steady pace with Kakashi as a warm pliant weight on
his back and a goal in his mind Gai easily ignored the looks the few travelers
they encountered threw him. A few small breaks in between to drink some water
and take a breather hadn't really hindered his progress and he was close to
reaching the meaningful halfway point when his stomach started complaining
again.
Judging that it would be at best another 30 minutes till the halfway
mark was reached at the speed he was going he decided that he had to risk
waking Kakashi either way, either through the impolite grumbling of his stomach
or by jostling him. Choosing option number two i.e. speeding up was, when all
was considered preferable and so Gai started channeling a hint more chakra into
his legs and arms and accelerated quickly until he hit a comfortable speed that
he could hold for as long as needed.
Kakashi would be lying if he said that the trip wasn't relaxing for
him, the feeling of motion when one was not actually moving was always
something he liked, and it was easy to fall back asleep for the few times he
woke up. Still, he managed to get enough sleep to start feeling restless, and
he began to wonder if Gai was halfway there yet or not. It was at that point
that Gai started to speed up, and Kakashi had to hold on a little tighter to
keep hold of him.
Having decided that he had safely crossed the imaginary finishing line
Gai slowed down again until he reached a nice outcropping along the way that
looked as if it had been used for travelers to rest quite frequently. There he
untangled the bags and then gently lowered Kakashi to the ground keeping a keen
eye on him to see whether he would 'wake up' soon. In the meantime he angled
another piece of bread out of his pack and slowly nibbled at it to stave of the
hunger.
One he was set down, Kakashi started to stir, stretching his arms high
above his head leisurely and yawned as though he had been entirely asleep the
whole way. Blinking his visible eye, he looked around curiously. "...this
is a different place."
Smiling widely Gai nodded at this "Indeed my eternal rival!"
Straightening from where he had crouched down to be at eyelevel he quickly
swallowed the rest of his bread and motioned for the road. "Shall we
then?"
Kakashi sat up and ran a hand through his hair, stretching his arms up
once more. "...Ah, sure. Looks like you've done most of the work yourself,
though. I'll have to make it up to you."
Feeling his smile grow even wider although one could doubt that that
was even anatomically possible Gai shook his head. "That's what partners
are for, ne? Now let us continue my eternal rival or we will fall behind our
itinerary."
"And we can't have that." Kakashi said, standing.
"That'd mean work would cut into our hot-springs time." he joked with
a totally serious face. Still, he did feel the need to do something for Gai in
return, but that could wait until they got to the onsen.
"Well" Gai replied seemingly not seeing the humor hidden in
his words "You said you wanted to be back in six days, so I thought it
would be best, this way." then the earnest expression drained from his
face "Plus you make a good training weight." he joked jovially.
"Glad to be of service." Kakashi said, taking his own bag to
stroll leisurely the rest of the way,
Mumbling something about his 'modern attitude' Gai soon caught up to
him and they quickly covered the remaining distance so that it was only early
evening when they finally could see the outskirts of the village the hot spring
resort was located at.
"Ahhh, I hope they have a cafe inside, I could use something to
eat." Kakashi fell into step next to Gai as they got closer to the onsen.
He was silently taking in the surroundings for most of the way. "So, do
you want to be the woman, or the man?"
Startled at the question Gai turned his face to Kakashi.
"What?"
Kakashi remained cool and unruffled. "Do you want to be the woman,
or the man? For the disguise? You were listening to our set disguises, weren't
you?"
"But you said it was a resort only for the male clientele"
Confusion showed in the wrinkles between Gai's eyebrows. He kept the thought to
himself that neither he nor Kakashi would make an, in his eyes, acceptable
female looking woman.
Kakashi successfully managed to resist laughing. "When men have
sex with each other, one has to 'take it'... the 'woman', and one has to 'give
it', the 'man'. Since we're posing as a couple..." Kakashi hoped Gai would
understand it. And even if he didn't, Kakashi was having fun acting as though
it was so very important.
Fighting down a blush by the sheer power of his will not to let his
rival see his embarrassment Gai coughed, hiding behind his hand. "I wasn't
aware that anything of the sort was required for this mission, but since you
seem well versed I'll let you decide. I'm sure we will be able to adapt any
necessary behavior."
Kakashi held out his fist, palm open under it. "Jan ken pon?"
"Jan ken pon" Gai readily agree holding out his fist as well.
It was a perfect replay of how their rivalry had started
Kakashi threw down paper, then sighed a little when he saw Gai throw
down scissors. He was pretty sure Gai was going to throw rock. Shrugging,
Kakashi moved his hands back to steadying his bag. "Alright, you're the
man."
Gai had to admit he was somewhat relieved about that. This kind of
pairing was new for him as it was, at least he got to keep his gender. "Is
there anything else I should know about?" he quizzed his more
knowledgeable companion.
Kakashi pondered if there was anything else Gai needed to know. "...not really. It's pretty much the
same other than that." Kakashi doubted that Gai had ever been in a
relationship before, though. At least, he hadn't seen the man with anyone,
romantically.
...Of course, Kakashi wasn't exactly close with Gai. It suddenly struck
him that this was the man who stayed by his bedside when he lost a fight, to
make sure he recovered, and... he knew next to nothing
about him.
"Ah, look, we're here." He said, instead, pointing to the
sign in front of the onsen.
Facing the doors with a look of determination on his face Gai raised a
fist and applied his knuckles forcefully against the wood.
The door was answered by ... a woman?? No, it turned out to be just a
very attractive young man with his hair left long, dressed in the typical onsen
staff uniform.
"Good evening! Forgive our closed doors, we're trying to keep the
heat in so the rooms are as warm as possible for our valued guests!!" the
young man bowed, stepping back and holding the door for them.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow, but went in.
Smiling in thanks at the young man Gai followed Kakashi. Slipping of
his dirty shoes he slipped into a soft pair of guest slippers and looked
questioningly around.
Kakashi did the same, heading up to the registration desk. "Ah, do
you have any vacancies this time of year for some last-minute travelers?"
he smiled, pleasantly, behind the mask.
The person at the registry was, however, definitely a girl. Either that,
or a man with a very suspicious bulge at his chest level and pretty blonde hair
tied back away from her eyes. She smiled cheerfully at Kakashi.
"We have a few rooms left, yes. One or two for you and your
companion?"
"One please."
The girl looked over Kakashi's shoulder to Gai and giggled. She was
clearly new at this job.
Stepping closer to Kakashi until he could feel the warmth the man was
radiating Gai had a vague idea that he looked possessive, which was the look he
was going for. Due to their slight height difference he was also partially
hidden from the gaze of the giggling blonde that was dealing with Kakashi.
Hopefully him being big, strong and silent would be
sufficient for this. And so the green beast did what many in Konoha would have
found to be only achieved when he was unconscious, he remained quiet.
The girl managed to somewhat hide her giggles, occasionally glancing up
to Gai as she listed a few room types available (they were all terribly cliché.
Peach blossom, cherry blossom, strawberry blossom...) and Kakashi chose and
paid for one (peach blossom).
"And the names the room is under?"
"Dai and Kanaye." Kakashi answered, smoothly.
The receptionist made a few notes on a scroll, then handed them their
room card. "Room 205, up on the second floor. It's
right by the stairs down to the hot
springs, got a good view. Would you like me to call
someone to take your bags?"
Kakashi shook his head. Their bags had inside their other clothing,
after all, among other things. He took the room card. "We've got it, thank
you."
Grabbing his bag he barely waited for Kakashi before
fleeing the giggling blonde. What he wondered had been so funny? Looking up as
Kakashi finally joined him in front of their doors he watched patiently as the
other used their room card to unlock the door and stepped inside.
Following Gai gave the room a good once over. It
wasn't to small for a single person but two would have to be somewhat'
friendly' to comfortably fit.
Kakashi stretched his arms up once more, setting his
bag down. "We should split up and start searching for our targets."
he went over to the window, peering out of it cautiously. On the floor below,
the part of the hot springs itself could be seen.
Shaking his head in agreement Gai had one more
question before he stumbled back into that strange world outside. "What
was that girl laughing at? Do I have dirt on my face?" He looked around in
search of a mirror.
"Mou, it was probably laughing out of
nervousness." Kakashi passed it off. "...I'll check in the hot
springs." he turned to Gai, smiling behind his mask, innocently.
Rubbing his hands over his face in a search for
anything that might have been reason for the girls hilarity Gai had to agree
with Kakashi, maybe it really had only been nervousness and he was being to
self-conscious, but he really couldn't help it. "Ok."
"I'll start in the cafeteria, and after that the
ground floor common room. How long do you think you will need at the hot spring?"
Now at the mention of the possibility of food his stomach reminded him that he
had used quite a bit of chakra today and that it demanded to be fed.
"Ahhh, right, the cafeteria..." Kakashi's
stomach rumbled. He hadn't eaten anything since he awoke. "...Maybe we
should check things out together to keep up appearances. Cafe, common rooms,
then the hot springs for the rest of the night." he nodded.
Grinning Gai thumped his rival on the back. " I
can see that your stomach knows what it wants!" Pushing the door open he
then proclaimed loudly. "The desires of a man's body need to be sated in
order to keep the flames of youth burning!"
Gai promptly got more than a few looks from those in
the hallway, or ones that were peeking out of their rooms. A narrow-eyed blonde
yelled at Gai from down the hall, standing in his doorway. "As long as you
keep it in your room, go right ahead!"
He was pulled back into the room by a taller,
dark-haired man who gave the blonde a stern gaze and a quiet comment to not be
rude. Their door closed quickly.
Kakashi coughed. "Right. I feel like something
sweet." he headed down the hall to the cafeteria.
Staring after the retreating back of his comrade Gai
blinked before the rude blonds words seemed to hit him like a bucket full of
ice cold water. Hurrying to catch up to Kakashi he hissed "I didn't mean
it like that. This place is full of perverts. It was a completely innocent
remark!" Of that he was certain, after all he had made it more than once
in to Neji and Lee and neither of them had thought anything but the obvious of
it.
Kakashi waved his hand. "*I* know." and he
thought how Gai really was made for a more innocent era, indeed. He did better
off in a hidden village where being a ninja was the most important thing.
Relieved that Kakashi understood him Gai straightened
and let his eyes drift over the corridor they were following, Taking in the
bare wooden floor boards and the cream collared walls with sparse lighting
every know and then. "I think I'll have a salad and a bowl of ramen,“ he
decided after hearing his stomach rumble again. "I have to get my energy
levels up again after this morning."
Kakashi nodded. "I should get something filling
and healthy..." he mused. Still, he knew when he got to the cafeteria he'd
probably get a parfait or something. He kept an eye out for anyone who looked
like the two targets.
The cafeteria was a large room filled with tables and
chairs and a counter alongside one wall, stereotypical as far as cafeterias go.
What was slightly less usual were the customers and their behaviour. Gai could
see more than one couple that was holding hands, embracing or cuddling, there
even was one young man who was being fed by his older companion like a small
child. Gai felt completely out of place knowing that he and Kakashi would
probably stick out like a sore thumb even amongst the less affectionate
couples.
Kakashi smiled behind his mask at Gai. "Anyplace
you want to sit... daaa-ling?"
Smiling came easy to Gai, smiling at Kakashi was also
something that did normally not take to much effort but now Gai had to actually
force his facial muscles into any resemblance of a smile. Spotting an empty
table against the wall opposite the counter he numbly pointed in its direction.
"That table look good?"
Kakashi nodded. He patted Gai on the shoulder, a sign
of affection he rarely displayed. Kakashi rarely touched anyone during what he
counted as 'work' unless it was to cause some kind of pain. "Relax."
he whispered, making his way over to the table, searching faces in the crowed.
Sighing Gai decided to follow Kakashi's advice and
literally force his tense muscles to relax. It probably wasn't what the
copy-nin had had in mind but it simply would have to do. Following after the
familiar back in unfamiliar clothes Gai decided that if Kakashi was able to
jump over his own shadow and touch him, in public, he damn well would be able
to do the same. Remembering long forgotten rules about how to treat a nice girl
he had been taught by his mother and had under the hand been handing on to Lee,
he moved slightly faster so that he reached the table before Kakashi and pulled
out a chair for him. "What do you want?" he asked in an offer to get
both their orders.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow again. He'd expected Gai to
remain stiff the whole mission, and then out of nowhere he displayed skills on
how to treat a 'lady'. Kakashi wondered if maybe Gai DID have relationships
before that he never knew about. He managed to recover in time enough so it
wasn't so suspicious, and looked over the menu. With another smile, he replied
"...Manju. And green tea."
Gai nodded then walked back through the tables to the
counter carefully keeping an eye out for their targets. Now that the first
hurdle had been successfully tackled he felt his confidence come streaming
back, allowing him to hold his head high and walk with his usual self assured
stride. Joining the cue he gave a hidden glance to Kakashi to see how he was
holding up at his end.
Kakashi seemed to just smile and wave at Gai when he
turned, but he was actually giving an ANBU hand signal - 'no sign of target
yet'. Which Kakashi was thankful for, in a way. It meant their meal could go
uninterrupted, at least. His gaze shifted to the door to watch anyone new who
came in.
Gai nodded in understanding and turned his
concentration back to the counter. It was his turn to order and he was quickly
handed his salad, the ramen, the manju and Kakashi's green tea, which he placed
on a tray to make the trip to the table easier. Balancing the tray easily on
one hand so he had one hand free at all times. (One of the basic rules of being
a shinobi) he swiftly made his way back easily avoiding any possible
collisions.
"Here you go" placing the food next to him
he then sat down and handed Kakashi the tea and his sweets. "That by the
way is neither healthy nor filling." he reprimanded.
Kakashi's one visible eye widened. "...Really?
You don't say?" his voice had feigned shock in it.
"Yes, really." Emphasising his point Gai
waggled his chopsticks at Kakashi. "How you can hope to sate your manly
appetite on that I have no idea. You'll probably be hungry again in no time at
all. If you continue like this you wont be able to keep up with my youthful
energy!"
Kakashi pondered this as he ate his Manju.
"...I'll take my chances." he finally answered.
Since Kakashi's continued health was a topic he could
argue in depth later but his ramen were growing cold quickly and required
immediate attention Gai let that pass with a simple shake of his head. After
that the rapid devouring of food was the only sound from him.
Kakashi just smiled enigmatically, managing to eat
without revealing his face behind the mask, somehow. There was one young man,
however, to managed to glance over at just the right moment. He proceeded to
stare adoringly at Kakashi until his own partner noticed and dragged him off, jealously.
Kakashi finished off his manju and green tea silently.
Having decimated his food in record time Gai leaned
back and rubbed his stomach with a satisfied smile. "So what's next?"
"Check the common rooms. Then hot springs."
Kakashi ran a hand through his unruly hair. After all, they didn't want to go
into the water right after eating.
"Ok. Do you want to split up for that?"
After all that would save time and lessen the chance of their targets slipping
through their fingers.
Kakashi nodded.
"You take the bottom floor, I'll take the top floor, and we‘ll meet up in
the changing room for the hot springs?"
"Ok. We'll meet there in an hour." Standing
Gai walked out of the crowded room without a backward glance. He knew he could
trust Kakashi to fulfil his part of the mission just as Kakashi could count on
him.
Kakashi waited a moment, then took his leave as well,
heading for the second floor to browse the common room(s). He didn't find the
targets in any of them, but after talking (which was a little more like
flirting) to some of the other residents there, he did get a confirmation that
they were indeed at the hotel at this time, though no one knew the exact rooms.
The hour was coming to a close for his search, and Kakashi headed to the
meeting spot for Gai.
Gai had had little more success than Kakashi, although
he had spotted a man that would fit the description given to them he had been
unable to follow him. Now, returning to the meeting point he was looking
forward to spending some time in the hot spring. Not only cause he thought that
may have been the target disappeared but also for chance to sooth his muscles
that had started clenching up again as soon as he had left the cafeteria and
had only grown worse with the odd looks he received from some of the men here.
