Grunting, Sasuke slowly stretched his arms up over his head while the rest of his study mates groaned with him, all of them sitting back. They rubbed their hands, wrists, backs and eyes as they tried to stop from just leaving for the night. “Damn, Umino-sensei had to drop this test on us didn’t he?” the Uchiha groaned, Kiba waving a hand as Naruto let his head drop onto the table before him with a groan.
“He had to since the school dumped it on him. And fuck if I’m going to fail this shit. My mom would gut me if I failed this test after the C on my last project,” Kiba grunted, rubbing his wrist as Sasuke nodded his head.
“I can understand that. I need to use the bathroom,” Sasuke said, standing up after dropping his pen down onto the table and scowling. “I’ll be right back you guys,” he grunted, heading out into the mostly dark hallway, the only light source coming from track lighting along the floors.
Back in the library, the group were getting back to their studies when Kiba looked up from his book and frowned at the window, ears twitching. “Anyone else hear that tapping noise?” he asked, everyone turning to the window, seeing that it was raining once more. A flash of lightning lit up the window and they jumped at the sight of a pale woman, skin pulled tight over bones, one long finger tapping on the window. “What is she doing out there?” he asked.
“And why is her eyes closed?” Naruto asked, before they all screamed when she opened her eyes. They were staring at nothing more than deep black holes that were in place of what eyes should have been. She raised a fist and smashed the glass of the window just as the lights flickered and died, plunging them into darkness and screams of terror filled the library.
Sasuke was washing his hands as the bathroom was suddenly dark, making him blink as the track lights flickered on, giving him very little light but just enough to finish at the sink. Drying his hands, unaware of what he was going to end up walking in on, he left the bathroom, finding the hallway silent and only half lit by the track lights, telling him that only one generator had kicked on.
Sighing, he headed back to the library, hands in pockets. Opening the door, he came to a standstill at finding his friends and fellow studiers dead, strewn about the library. Some of his friend’s bodies were on the floor, while others still were on desks or on filing cabinets. Swallowing and stepping in a bit more, he looked over the bodies and rubbed at his lips, wondering what could have caused such a massacre so quickly.
It was footsteps that echoed down the hallway that drew his attention back to what had happened instead of what had caused it. Thinking quickly, he dived to lay next to Naruto’s body and closed his eyes, laying motionlessly as he listened to whatever it was creep into the library. He heard rustling as whoever it was moved around, ears straining even as he made sure not to make any sound. Words came to him in a whisper.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…” Again and again until his curiosity got the better of him and he opened his eyes to take a peek.
He spotted a woman, ghostly pale and dressed in white, standing in the middle of room. Feeling a scream of horror bubble up, he bit his tongue and closed his eyes, listening to the ghost continue with it’s odd chant, hoping that it would leave the library soon.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…”
Sasuke kept his eyes tightly shut, praying that the ghost wouldn’t find him.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…”
He could hear the creature going to each of his friend’s bodies and worried what the creature was doing to them.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…”
Sasuke continued to keep still, not wanting to attract the ghosts attention, not wanting to know what it was doing.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…”
Even as it drew closer, Sasuke kept still, relaxed on the floor but ready to jump up and run if needed.
“One, two… One, two… One, two…”
He could almost hear it right beside him, Sasuke holding his breath in fear. Suddenly the rustling and counting stopped, making him wonder what was happening, what the ghost was doing. He strained to hear any sound but it was suspiciously quiet in the room. Waiting for several moments of utter silence, he hoped and figured that the ghost was gone, slowly opening his eyes.
To his horror, the ghost was crouched right over him, grin fixed upon her face as she reached out. “One, two,” she cackled, the sight of long fingers the last thing that Sasuke saw as he lost his eyes.
