"Hello? Yamanaka Flower Shop? I would like to know your new address, and order some flowers." Sasuke said into his phone. Naruto gave him a look from his place at the stove cooking dinner, which Sasuke swiftly ignored.
"Who are you giving flowers to?" he asked when Sasuke paused in talking.
"I'll tell you later," he said, before talking once again into his cell. "Yes, I would like to pick them out myself when I get there. I think I'll get something pink. I don't have a girlfriend, and its none of your business if I do or not anyway." Sasuke paused, listening to the other for a moment. "I can't make it today, but I might be free tomorrow?" he said looking questioningly at Naruto who already had his planer out.
"Your free from 1-o'clock to 3:30 pm tomorrow," he confirmed.
"I'll be there at 2:15, to pick out the arrangement. Yes, see you then," he said as he hung up.
"What was that about? I know you aren't getting them for me or Kiba if you're thinking pink. I don't think Deidara or Itachi would be very amused if you sent them pink flowers either."
"They're for Sakura. She did after all bring us together. And it wouldn't feel right if I didn't rub it in just a bit, it's because of her, that I got you in the end. Just seemed kinda poetic." Naruto just laughed shaking his head as he placed dinner on the table, it was a blob of red and white. "What is this?" Sasuke asked, looking at it suspiciously.
"It's just curry, don't worry it won't hurt you, after all you like spicy things. Itachi on the other hand, should stay far away from this. Just sniffing this will have him passing out." Sasuke burst out laughing.
"You mean like the time you once made chicken wings and didn't bother to tell him that you'd put habanero sauce on them?" Sasuke replied, his face twisting into a smirk as he recalled the incident. "That was priceless. I was so sure he would of breathed fire from the way he reacted, before passing out. We should do that again sometime," he said before laughing slightly.
"It was fun, maybe we could do it again when we next go to see your family," Naruto suggested.
"For the last time, I'm. Not. Going," Sasuke replied with a tone of finality. "We already discussed this. I'm fine and therefore have no reason to go to see them."
"Itachi said if I didn't get you to go he would drag you."
"You have already proven yourself a capable bodyguard; I'm not worried. And besides, I have work to catch up on. I don't have time to waste on going to see them when all I would hear is mothers fawning, fathers constant attempts to marry Itachi and me off, not to mention uncle Madara will just bitch about everything in sight. Obito will more then likely just be telling lies all night, which will set Madara off all the more. I don't need that, thank you very much."
"Alright, I won't push. But you have to tell Itachi you're not going. I want to watch what happens, and could you do it in a place with cameras? It would prove priceless and I want a recording," Naruto said giving Sasuke a peck on the lips before settling down at his own plate.
"We'll see," Sasuke conceded, he really couldn't deny Naruto anything.
Well, there was no video of Sasuke's argument with his brother. Sadly. Yet the absolutely humbled and destroyed look as he bowed his head down in defeat, was very satisfying to watch, even as his very being conveyed hopelessness, while walking off the elevator at work spoke volumes. Naruto sincerely regretted not being able to witness it. And as much as he may love Sasuke, Naruto had wanted nothing to do with that particular phone call. So he left, leaving Sasuke walking slowly behind in the parking garage. While waiting he got to work on gathering everything they would need for this mornings schedule. It was some time before Sasuke finally managed to drag himself into the office.
"So, we're going to your family's house this weekend?" Naruto assumed.
Sasuke's only response was a Death Glare that should have had Naruto pissing his pants, but unfortunately for the Uchiha had the opposite effect.
Naruto did a lot of laughing that morning.
-
"I don't know how I let you talk me into this." Sasuke grumbled. They were on their way to the Uchiha family home. Itachi was sitting next to him as smug as the cat that caught the canary.
"Come on, Otouto, it won't be that bad," he lied smoothly.
"Liar," Sasuke called. Maybe not smooth enough.
"You know me so well."
Deidara was sitting in the passenger seat next to Naruto who was driving.
"I don't know how the two of you get along, and don't hate each other. All you do is fight and bicker," he commented, his head tilting a little as he regarded the siblings.
"That's not all we do, sometimes we send each other nice things," Itachi countered.
"You mean like that box of booze chocolates, Sasuke sent you two weeks ago? That wasn't very 'nice,' Itachi. Funny, but not nice."
"That was an isolated incident, a onetime thing. Sasuke shut up, you're not helping," he chided Sasuke who had started snickering, remembering all the other 'nice things' they had sent each other over the years.
"Itachi, I think your fighting a losing battle," Naruto said.
"Why me?" Itachi mumbled.
"Karma?" Naruto offered, Sasuke didn't bother fighting it as he burst out laughing.
-
Mikoto was the first seen to come running out the front door. "Oh, my baby!" She rushed out, hugging Sasuke to her while she tenderly stroked his hair, before kissing his forehead.
"Uchiha-sama," Naruto addressed her.
Mikoto finally letting Sasuke go, went to meet the bodyguard/PA who had retrieved her son. Though that only freed Sasuke to face his stern father.
"He's fine, Mikoto," Fugaku sighed. "What a waste of time." Yep, that's dad; he wouldn't be concerned unless Sasuke was paralyzed or castrated.
Madara was also standing at the door, looking down his nose at absolutely everything in sight: the lawn, the innocent flowering bushes on either side of the porch, Sasuke's car, Sasuke, Naruto, Itachi, Deidara, Fugaku, Mikoto, the sky, the lone cloud in said sky . . .
"Sasuke," Madara greeted coldly. "Kidnapped by a woman." The man didn't even try to hide his disgust.
"I was drugged."
Madara didn't argue because it was beneath him.
Deidara popped out of the car, kissed Itachi, then turned to be introduced to Madara first to be polite to the oldest Uchiha.
Fugaku looked Deidara up and down, noticing how girly he looked. He leaned toward Mikoto and Sasuke. "Itachi finally got a girl? I thought he was gay."
"His is," they responded together.
"I was born in the wrong decade," he muttered.
Itachi turned to Deidara presenting him to his parents. Sasuke had been shocked he wanted to introduce Deidara to them; he never even mentioned his boy toys to them before, knowing Fugaku merely tolerated his sons' lifestyles. Madara was fully aware, but disapproved. In his day, they would both marry women he chose and produce children. Luckily, they lived in America and Fugaku wasn't quite that controlling. After finally stepping into the house they were about to walk down the hall toward the living room when the door opened behind them. (The house has a hallway from front door to the foyer.)
Obito had finally arrived. "You're late," Madara chided.
"Sorry, there was an old woman who was trying to cross the street, so I stopped to help her, but ended up driving her home. Then I stopped at this girl scout cookie stand and bought a few boxes." He offered the open box to everyone in the hall. He took a bite and Madara watched the crumbs fall to the ground.
"Cool!" Deidara happily took an offered cookie while dropping just as many crumbs. Itachi took one too, causing the offensive cycle to repeat.
Obito turned to Sasuke, the box of the super-sweet Samoa's stretched out to him. Sasuke narrowed his eyes at him, promising death if he brought those horrid things any closer to him. He wanted to be gone and done from all these blood relations. He cursed that pinkette now; he tried hard to keep his life Madara and Obito free. But things only got worse as he walked down the hall.
A party. A fucking party. His family was always looking for an excuse to throw a party and had used his safe return as the perfect one. If there was one thing Sasuke hated more than visiting his family, it was god damn parties. "Can I leave now?" Sasuke asked Naruto.
"We just walked in the door not even ten minutes ago," he said.
"Don't care. It's been ten minutes to long."
"No, you can't leave."
"Fine," he said walking off toward the kitchen. But his arm was snagged by Naruto.
"You are not drinking either," he said with finality.
"Look, I can only stand my family (Itachi aside) in one of two ways; over the phone or through a haze of liquor. You pick."
"One drink and that's it," Naruto conceded.
Twenty-four (strong) drinks later…
"What did I tell you about just one!?" Naruto admonished. Sasuke was currently hanging for dear life on Naruto's shoulder, and drunk as sailor.
"I tolded you, I needeed it for all these-a crazy poeples!" he said as seriously as a drunk could manage, comically nodding his head very solemnly.
"Time to get you home," Naruto said taking Sasuke out to the car and telling Sasukes parents goodbye. In the car on the way home Naruto had the nagging feeling that he forgot something important, but shook it off when Sasuke leaned his head out the window and started yelling something about crazy families and the need for cheaper medicationsgood booze.
"Hey Tachi?" Deidara asked.
"Yeah?"
"Have you seen Naruto or Sasuke? I haven't seen them for a while. You don't think they left do you?" he said still scanning the crowd of people.
"They wouldn't have left without us. We carpooled. Naruto is our ride home remember, and even if Sasuke would be happy to leave us here, Naruto would never let himself be talked into it. He's a lot kinder than my brother. They're probably up in Sasuke's room either hiding or having fun doing other stuff," At Itachi's words Deidara calmed down a bit.
"If you say so."
-2 Hours later.-
"I can't believe they did that! I can't believe he left us!" Itachi ranted, pacing the length of his old room. Deidara was sitting on the edge of the bed watching.
"Now we have to wait till my father sobers up enough to drive us home in the morning, how humiliating."
"Don't worry, Tachi, I'm sure yelling at a hungover Sasuke tomorrow will make up for having to spend a little extra time with your family. And besides, I've been getting along great with your mom." he said unhelpfully.
Itachi just looked at him. "Just so you know, that doesn't make me feel any better. I don't want you to get along. If you get along they will want to see you more often and I can only handle so much of the family visit thing."
"Don't worry, I'll just say its too far to travel very often. And I want them to like me. The more they like me the less they will nag you."
"You don't know my family. The more they like you the more they will want to see you. I'm telling you, that line of thinking will only back fire."
"You worry to much. If they like me then your dad can't complain to you about finding someone else." Deidara said nodding thoughtfully
"I'm going to kill Sasuke when we get back." Itachi's said falling on the bed next to Deidara, who only smiled.
Getting up he walked to the in suite bathroom. "I wanna shower, you gonna join me or lay there and sulk some more?" he said, tossing a coy smile over his shoulder.
Itachi was off the bed in a matter of seconds and following him into the shower. His parents where drunk and passed out over an hour ago, they wouldn't notice anything no matter how loud they where…..
That's all for now. I will put up the next chapter after a review is posted. I don't care how big or small, I just want to know what your guys think. And yes, Im shameless. ^_^
