Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: Thanks to my reviewers and faithful readers. You guys really make it worthwhile to continue writing.
On a side note, chapters may be updated less frequently as I recently got a job. I have a 3 day probationary period, followed by a 30 day probationary period. So, I’ll be working something like 6 hours a day, which will severely cut into my writing time when you consider I still have homework that needs to get done. I promise I won’t just abandon the story. I love my stories; they are just like my babies.
I haven’t re-read this chapter, so it could have a few mistakes…if you catch one, just point it out. :)
Sasuke stared at the assortment of food that was currently taking up space on their kitchen counter. He shook his head as he grabbed a piece of venison supplied by Shikamaru. He was glad that Shika and Neji could both come, because he was nervous about Deidara and the fact that there was alcohol. He didn’t know if he got drunk how well he’d be able to control himself, but Neji and Shika didn’t drink very often, so if he didn’t drink, he wouldn’t be the only one.
Naruto came around the corner and smiled at his friend. He was eating some of the food that Shikamaru had dropped off on his way to training. “So, you ready for tonight? Itachi and his friends should be here soon.” He smirked at the blush on Sasuke’s cheeks. “You like Deidara, don’t you?”
Sasuke shrugged. “Hn.”
Naruto laughed. “You know when you revert to stick-up-his-ass Sasuke, we all know you’re hiding big emotions. That would mean that you really do like Deidara. So, really you could just answer the question, since we’re going to figure it out anyway.”
Sasuke glared at Naruto. He was nervous. He didn’t know what to do with himself when Deidara showed up. After Naruto had revealed who his admirer was, he found himself watching Deidara more and more when Itachi would bring him around. Granted it was infrequent that Itachi brought more than Genma over to their apartment, but it did happen. “Fine.” He sighed heavily. “I’m nervous.”
Naruto smirked. “Well, that’s a good sign. If you didn’t really care you wouldn’t be nervous.”
Sasuke sighed. “You wouldn’t know about it. You see something you want and just go for it.” Naruto shrugged. “You did with Shino.”
Naruto smiled softly. “Yeah. He’s pretty great. I mean, he reminds me of you a lot, but still – I don’t know – different. He’s quiet, but it’s not because he’s trying to shut everyone out. He just observes things a lot more than other people do. When you do ask him for advice on something, he seems to have the perfect answer.”
Sasuke smirked. “So, you don’t mind the fact that his greatest ninja skill is his ability to use his bugs? Or that said bugs are within his body?”
Naruto shook his head. “It’s not like there are gaping holes all over his body that bugs just whip in and out of.” He smiled softly. “He’ll probably pass the chuunin next month.”
Sasuke shrugged. “We all probably will, except maybe Sakura and Lee.”
Itachi pushed the door open. He was carrying a couple of boxes of food. Naruto smirked, “Get enough, ‘Tachi?”
Genma sighed as he followed Itachi in with another few boxes. These contained disposable cameras, markers, and make-up. “Don’t worry, Deidara’s got fireworks.”
Sasuke’s eyes widened. “You did just say ‘Deidara’ and ‘fireworks’ in the same sentence and tell me not to worry?”
Deidara’s eyes sparkled as he came through the door. “Yes, Sasuke-kun. Don’t worry. I’m an expert with fireworks.” He shifted his box to one arm and threw his free arm around Sasuke’s shoulders.
Sasuke almost blushed. He shrugged Deidara’s arm off his shoulders. “If Kisame were here instead of off on a mission, he’d keep your hands off the fireworks.”
Deidara paled just a bit at his comment. Kisame was really a lot like an overprotective brother to Diedara. In actuality, he was one of the ‘Three Musketeers’ that made up their core group. Sure there were others who were friends with Itachi, but Deidara and Kisame were the closest. Kisame and Itachi were the only ones who didn’t fear Deidara’s wrath and would tell him when his pyro tendencies got too strong.
A knock at the door saved Deidara. He opened the door to a smiling Neji and Shikamaru. “Neji, I can’t believe you turned me down and then start dating Sasuke’s old boytoy.”
Neji resisted the very tempting urge to roll his eyes. Shikamaru sighed, grabbed Neji’s hand, and pulled him through the door. Seeing Sasuke, Shikamaru smiled. “Hey, Sas,” he smirked a little, “Can I borrow you for a minute?”
Sasuke nodded. “You don’t mind; do you, Neji?”
Neji shook his head. “We talked about this on the way over.” Neji walked over to Naruto. “Anything I can help with?”
Sasuke led Shikamaru to his bedroom. “So?” He hadn’t meant to sound cold, but there was still a small part of him that was hurting. He would really love to shove Shikamaru against the bed and kiss him retarded, which would have been quite the feat. He wouldn’t do that though. He valued Shikamaru’s friendship over everything else.
Shikamaru smiled. “Neji and I are kind of making secret plans to get married.” Sasuke smiled. He was happy for Shikamaru. Shika continued, “That’s not really what I needed to talk to you about, but I wanted you to know. Tell me about Deidara?”
Sasuke did blush this time. “I like him. His pyro obsession scares the crap out of me, but I like him.”
Shikamaru smiled. “Good. Then I’m going to go have a small chat with him. I know his reputation. I also know, now, that your brother would rip him apart if he hurt you. Still, I’m going to go have a little chat with him.”
Sasuke sighed and shook his head, smiling softly. “I’m glad you care what happens to me. I’m happy for you and Neji, too.”
Shikamaru smiled. “Thanks, Sas.” He gave his friend a hug before walking to the living room. He smirked again. “Oh Deidara. I need a word with you.” His very false sweet tone put everyone on edge. “Let’s do this before everyone else shows up, okay?”
Deidara swallowed the carrot he’d been chewing and nodded. He looked at Itachi for help, but Itachi shrugged. Neji turned toward Genma and Itachi. “Shikamaru has plans to show Deidara what will happen if he hurts Sasuke.”
Itachi smirked. “That’s the third threat of bodily harm to him since he said he wanted to date Sasuke.”
Neji smiled. “You do know what Shikamaru’s specialty is, don’t you?” Itachi shook his head. “Shadow manipulation.”
Naruto laughed. “Can I go watch whatever is going on over there, because I think it will be funny as hell.” Itachi shrugged and Naruto trotted out to the balcony where Shikamaru and Deidara had disappeared. “Get out here, this is fucking hilarious.”
Itachi, Genma, Neji, and Sasuke walked to where Naruto had called them from. With the shadows being cast from the lights in the apartment, Shikamaru had taken control of Deidara’s body and had him leaned out from the railing in the apartment. His feet were on the railing, but his rest of the body was leaning out over the street below. Deidara looked very frightened and his voice was almost hysterical. “I promise not to hurt him. This is fucked up. Don’t fucking drop me.”
Itachi buried his head in Genma’s shoulder to keep his laughter from being too obvious. Genma’s hand came up and wrapped in Itachi’s hair, a smile on his face. It always made him laugh when Deidara went into panicked bitch mode. Naruto was actually rolling on the ground in laughter, while Sasuke and Neji watched with little smirks on their faces, both knowing full well that Shikamaru would never actually harm Deidara unless he’d done something to do deserve it.
Shikamaru’s voice carried a touch of mirth, “I’d never hurt anyone.” There was a syrupy quality to Shikamaru’s voice that Neji knew was only used when he seriously felt like intimidating someone. “At least not without cause.” He pulled Deidara back up, but didn’t allow him to step down from the ledge. “Sasuke was my first boyfriend. He’s one of my best friends. His welfare is more important to me than just about anyone’s. You promise me right now that you’ll watch out for him. You promise me that you’ll learn his quirks and keep an eye on his bad habits and keep him safe, or so help me god,” he paused as he felt Sasuke’s arms wrap around his waist.
Sasuke laughed from behind Shikamaru. “Let the man go, Shika. I know you mean well, but if you completely scare him away before I get a chance to try him out,” Sasuke shrugged. Shikamaru nodded and had Deidara step down from the balcony railing before releasing him. Sasuke wrapped an arm around Deidara’s waist. “So just treat me right, I guess.”
Neji wrapped his arms around the waist recently vacated by Sasuke’s arms. “Come on, Shika. People will be showing up soon, and I want to have a good spot on the couch before that happens.”
Shikamaru smiled. “Sure,” he leaned over to kiss Neji. Neji drug Shikamaru to the couch. Naruto smirked from the kitchen. “You guys want a drink?”
Shikamaru shrugged. “Some soda, if you’ve got.”
Naruto came into the living room with two orange sodas. “Sasuke mentioned you guys don’t drink much. That’s probably why it was so easy for you to keep him away from alcohol.”
Neji glanced toward the bedrooms as the sounds of moaning and a headboard hitting the wall started to creep through the apartment. Naruto sighed before hollering, “There’s no music on yet, Itachi. Keep it the fuck down.”
Neji blushed a little. “Itachi and Genma?” Naruto nodded. Neji turned to Shikamaru. “Let’s do it tonight.”
Naruto laughed so hard he spilled his beer. Neji blushed when he realized what it might have sounded like he was saying, especially considering the situation he had previously been talking about. Shikamaru pulled Neji close and kissed the top of his head, trying to hide the smile from Neji. Naruto got up to get a towel to clean the beer, but couldn’t stop laughing. Shikamaru pulled Neji away from him to look into his eyes. “You meant you want to go elope, right?”
Neji nodded. “We can have a family ceremony later, but why should we wait to make it legal? I love you more than I have ever loved anyone. I have only had eyes for you for over two years. I know you are completely over Sasuke.”
Shikamaru smiled. “I don’t want you to feel forced into anything. And my mom will kill me if I don’t tell her first.”
Neji sighed. “I know. It was just a spur of the moment thing. We don’t have to.” Shikamaru sighed. He hated hearing Neji’s voice so defeated and sad.
Naruto came back, wiping up the beer on the carpet under the chair he was sitting in. “You know, I think Kakashi can marry people. I invited him to come here tonight. Just so you know.”
The doorbell rang just then. Naruto answered it, after turning on some music, since it was his place. Kakashi and Iruka were the first to show up. By an hour after the party officially started, Itachi and Genma had finished their first ‘talk’ of the night, and everyone who had been invited, other than Chouji, Lee, Ino, and Asuma who were on a mission, had shown up.
Kakashi and Iruka were dancing on Naruto’s balcony, away from most of the party. Sasuke and Deidara were sitting on the couch with Neji and Shikamaru. Sakura was hitting on Kisame, who had come home early from his mission. Kisame kept making ‘save me’ faces towards Sasuke who would smirk and shake his head. Finally Haku took pity on the slightly blue man and started making out with him. Sakura deflated, but instantly started looking around to find her next victim – or future boyfriend – fixing her sights on Shino. Shino and Naruto were talking quietly at the kitchen table, both fairly intoxicated.
Sasuke nudged Shikamaru and pointed toward the kitchen. Naruto and Shino were leaned close discussion who knows what, while Sakura sauntered up to the table. “Shino-kun,” she purred as plopped down in Naruto’s lap, “we never really talk. Don’t you like me?” She pouted at him, trying to give him sexy puppy dog eyes.
Sasuke buried his head in Deidara’s chest in an attempt to keep from laughing. Shikamaru grabbed Neji’s hand and pulled him off the couch. They each grabbed one of Sakura’s arms and hauled her away from Shino without a word. Naruto started laughing as he watched Shikamaru and Neji sandwich Sakura between them. She was beet red, knowing full well the two men were in a serious relationship and she was stuck between them. She paled a bit when they kissed right beside her head before she passed out, blood dripping from her nose.
Neji smirked as he stepped over Sakura to press his body close to Shikamaru’s, which was now swaying to the slow music playing. “That was kind of mean.” He leaned in and started to nibble on Shikamaru’s neck softly, before pulling away after receiving cat calls from all directions.
Shino smirked. “Thanks for saving me, guys.” Shikamaru smiled and nodded, pulling Neji out to the balcony where Kakashi and Iruka were sitting cuddled up and watching the stars.
Kakashi smiled. “Needed some air?”
Neji nodded. “Sakura got a bit too touchy feely in there for everyone’s taste. We decided to separate her from them by putting her in a Hyuuga/Nara sandwich. She’s apparently a yaoi fan.”
Iruka snorted, obviously intoxicated. “I so knew I was righ’ when I told ‘Kaski tha’ you were Sasuke’s problem. I can’ unnerstan’ how he changed so much, bu’ ‘mglad.”
Kakashi laughed, snuggling into Iruka’s neck, pulling the warm body closer to him. “You’re wasted, ‘Ruka.”
Iruka shrugged and relaxed into the embrace of his lover. “Your fault.”
Shikamaru pulled Neji against his body, resting his head on Neji’s shoulder. “Those two are kind of cute, huh?”
Neji nodded. “Kakashi, you can marry people right?” Kakashi nodded. “Marry us, now?”
Shikamaru sighed. “Troublesome.” It was half-assed at best, and the way he pulled Neji closer and softly kissed his jaw gave away his true feelings.
Iruka sighed and a goofy smile crossed his face. “It’s like a fuckin’ fairy tale. I wanna be bridesmaid.”
Kakashi couldn’t stop the laughter if he had wanted to. Iruka stood up, a little wobbly, and pulled his down before pretending to walk down an aisle. Shikamaru smirked and rolled his eyes. “Iruka-sensei, I really think you need to lay off the alcohol for a while.”
Inside, Sasuke noticed the interaction between the men on the balcony. When he saw Iruka get clumsily to his feet and act like he was walking down the aisle at a wedding, Sasuke stood up and Deidara followed. He opened the balcony door. “What’s going on out here?”
Iruka twirled and laughed as Kakashi grabbed his arm just in time to keep him from falling over the railing when he tripped. “I’m a bridesmaid.” The plastered smile on Iruka’s face had even Sasuke wiping tears from his eyes. “Let’s make a wedding, right now. And everyone can have a job.” His eyes were twinkling.
The small commotion had drawn the attention of just about everyone inside. Sakura was still passed out on the floor and Genma and Itachi had disappeared again, but everyone else was gathered at the open door. “Who’s getting married if Iruka’s going to be a bridesmaid?” Naruto hollered from the back of the crowd.
Neji blushed. “I guess maybe we shouldn’t do this now. Word will get out too quickly.”
Shikamaru shook his head. “We’ll just have to get our own place so my mom doesn’t kill me for doing this to you.” He kissed Neji’s cheek before sighing and realizing what he was saying. “No, we can’t now. I promised my mom I’d wait and let her help with the plans we are all ready making.”
Iruka pouted, “I don’t get to be a bridesmaid then?”
Kakashi smiled softly. “Sorry ‘Ruka.” He nuzzled Iruka’s neck. “Maybe you could be a bride instead?”
Iruka beamed. “Yes, a bride!” He sighed sadly. “I don’t have anything to wear.”
Deidara nudged Sasuke, “Is he normally this feminine?” Iruka was swirling around on the balcony, completely happy once again. Sasuke shook his head.
Kiba and Hinata pushed their way through the crowd. “Okay, everyone, let’s just give Iruka some time to feel pretty. I challenge Deidara to beer pong.”
Hinata smirked. “Then I challenge Ten-Ten as well. Her and Deidara vs. you and me.” Though no one but Neji knew, Hinata was very good at beer pong.
The party moved inside leaving Kakashi and Iruka alone on the balcony again. Kakashi pulled Iruka down into his lap. “I meant it ‘Ruka. We’ve been together for like 8 months now. I really love you.”
Iruka bit his lip. Even in his extremely intoxicated state he realized the significance of those words. Kakashi rarely shared an honest feeling with anyone, even him. Iruka smiled softly, the buzz wearing down a bit at the sobering words. “I love you, too, ‘Kashi.”
Kakashi began to nibble Iruka’s neck. “So will you?” His hands slipped down into Iruka’s pants and toyed with the growing member.
Iruka arched up into the touch moaning. “Mmm, ‘Kashi! Of course I’ll marry you. Don’t fucking stop though. God, fuck.”
Kakashi pulled Iruka’s zipper down and tugged the chuunin’s pants down, getting a much better grasp on the erection that was only his to touch and tease and lick and suck. He tugged gently, letting his thumb slide over the leaking tip, earning a loud gasp from Iruka.
Kakashi sighed as Iruka came almost immediately, before passing out in his arms. He had gotten a little worked up, but Iruka was almost impossible to wake up after a drunken orgasm. He wiped up quickly and zipped up Iruka’s pants again. He pulled a nearby blanket over their bodies, and found himself drifting to sleep quickly with a warm, sated lover in his lap.
Sasuke smiled at the sight of his two senseis so happy together. He looked at Shikamaru and sighed. He could have had that with the man sitting next to him if he hadn’t been so stupid. But he couldn’t think those thought anymore. Shikamaru and Neji were together and Deidara wanted to be with him. He smiled as Deidara put an arm around his waist, having just won his match of beer pong against Kiba. Hinata had taken Ten-Ten down.
Shikamaru smirked as he and Neji stood up, sitting on opposite sides of the coffee table. “Sasuke, I know you are good at bullshit. Neji and I challenge you and Deidara to a round.”
Neji shuffled the cards and smirked when Sasuke sat down next to him. “Sasuke, you might be good at this game, but Shikamaru and I are excellent.” He smirked at the dark haired boy next to him. “You want to make this game interesting?”
Sasuke shrugged. “What do you have in mind?”
