It was another lovely day at Konoha Leaf Hospital. It was the first day of spring and the sun was bright and the sky was the clearest blue, but it was still put to shame as a stunning blue-eyed blond entered the building.
He was wearing a pair of lose blue jeans, a faded orange button up shirt and an old pair of sneakers. He readjusted the nap sack on his back as he walked up to the front desk where the receptionist/nurse and a doctor were talking.
“Good morning, Sakura-Chan and Ino-Chan.” The blond male sing-songed to the doctor and receptionist.
Both women rolled their eyes at the blond ball of sunshine.
“Good morning Naru-chan…” Ino said drawing out the ‘Chan’ part.
“Ahhh…Ino-san not nice. I’m not a ‘Chan’.” The blond whined to the receptionist.
“Well you defiantly not a ‘kun’. You whine like a little girl.” She said not looking up from her computer screen.
The blonde’s pout turned into a devilish smile. “You could always just call me ‘sama’, Ino-san. But not you Sakura-Chan, you can call me ‘koi’.” The blond said as he wagged his eyebrows.
“I don’t think so, Naruto and you shouldn’t have sexual relationship with people you work with.” She mockingly scolded.
“If that’s true then I’ll just have to tell the physiotherapist, Lee that you feel that way.” He said with a sly smile.
“Don’t you dare, Naruto or you’ll be the one laying on one of those tables on your floor.” She said shaking her fist threateningly.
The blond ‘yelped’ as he jumped away from the scary doctor. ‘Sometimes I swear she has two people living in one body. Like an inner Sakura or something. A very scary inner Sakura.’ He thought. He was so wrapped up in his thinking that he didn’t hear the pink haired doctor talking to him.
“…aruto…Naruto!”
“Huh? What is it Sakura-Chan?”
The doctor just sighed and shook her head at him. “Never mind.” She said with a small smile.
“Oh okay. I have to be going anyway. Have to check and see if I’ve got any new guests. See you around Dr. Haruno and Nurse Yamanaka.”
“Bye, Dr. Uzumaki.” The two women called back.
The blond female sighed. “Sometimes it’s hard to believe he’s a doctor, especially with the way he flirts. That whole ‘koi’ comment he made to you.” Both women chuckled a little at the blond males antics before becoming more serious.
“Yeah he does flirt a lot but it is nothing more than flirting. He wouldn’t take it to the next level even if they were willing to. Trust me when I say there are a lot of people he flirts with that are more then willing. I kind of feel sorry for Dr. Hyuga in Ophthalmology.” The pink haired doctor said.
“Which one Hinata or Neji?”
“Both! Naruto flirts with both of them and both would be more then willing to drag the little blond to bed. Hinata might seems mild mannered, but she has a wild side too.” Sighing the green-eyed women continued. “It’s not Naruto’s fault though it’s just what he does. I guess flirting is a cooping mechanism that he developed after losing his lover.” The pink haired doctor said sadly.
“He really misses him doesn’t he. Heck we all miss him, even though he was a little on the anti-social side. It’s the three-year anniversary of his death this week isn’t it? Tomorrow, right?” the blond women asked.
The pink haired doctor nodded as they watched the blond male skip down the hall.
“He’s strong that’s for sure.”

He continued to skip down the hall toward the elevators ignoring the strange looks he was receiving. Once there he pressed the button going down and waited for the elevator to come.
It was only a couple seconds before there was a ding announcing its arrival. The blond walked in and pressed ‘G’ on the elevator button pad.
An old woman started to make her way in side with him.
“This elevator is going down, Ms.” He said politely.
“What? Why is it doing that?! Isn’t this the Main floor?” she said snappishly.
He winced at her at her cruel tone.
“Yes this is the main floor, but I must go below to meet my dead brethren. You are welcome to come, you can’t have more then another year left in you anyway.” He said in a spooky voice.
The women look slightly scared by what he was implying and backed out of the elevator slightly pale. It was all the blond could do to keep from laughing, before he heard the bone rattling voice of the hospital Dean.
“Gaki what did I tell you about harassing patients!?” the large breasted blonde women growled.
“Ahhhh…I got to go!” the blue-eyed doctor said as he frantically tried to get the elevator door to shut.
“Don’t shut that door on me, Gaki! I’m not finished talking to you!”
‘Close, close, close’ the blond chanted and finally the elevator gods answered his plea.
The door closed right before she got there, but he still heard her voice through the metal door. “Don’t forget to check on your living patient, too!”
The blond male sighed in relief.
“Feeewh… that was a close one.”
The door dinged again signaling that he arrived at his floor. He readjusted his bag again and walked out of the elevator. He passed through a couple doors before he reached a stainless steel room.
“I’m back!” he yelled to the room filled with metal tables and dissecting tools.
He walked over to the chart hanging on the wall and flipped through a couple of pages.
“Awe…No new guests. This month has been so slow…” the blond whined to himself.
He heard the door open behind him as someone walked in.
“You say that likes it’s a bad thing.” The familiar voice said.
Turning around he saw his friend Kiba.
“Yo, Kiba.” He greeted
“Honestly dude, it’s a good thing it’s slow for you because that means that there’s less people dieing.” The dog lover said with a smirk.
“If I was a vampire I’d say that we need some fresh blood in here, but that type of humor would be a little morbid wouldn’t it?” the blond asked with a cheeky smile.
“Dude you work in the morgue part of the hospital! Of coarse your sense of humor is morbid.”
The blond just shrugged.
“That’s one thing I never understood about you Naruto. You spent all that money and all those years in medical school just so you could poke at dead bodies. Why didn’t you major in something else? I heard you were the top of you class in almost every aspect of medicine you took, so why this? Why not be up stares where you can prevent people from ending up down here.”
“That’s exactly it Kiba. You cannot prevent people from ending up here. It’s just a fact of life. People die and we can’t stop it.” The blond said seriously, but then a small smile found it’s why across his lips. “Besides I like the quietness down here.”
“That’s hard to believe considering you’re the noisiest people in this whole hospital.” The brown haired paramedic said with a smirk.
“Hey!” the blond cried.
“Oh, speaking of noisy how’s your living patient doing?” Kiba asked.
“Oh he’s great for an a coma patient. Yep he’s as lively as a rock. I named him too!”
“Ah… didn’t the dude already have a name? He did have ID on him when we were called to the car accident.” The dog lover pointed out.
“Yeah but that’s no fun, so I decided to name him Teme!”
The spiky brunet rolled his eyes. “If half the nurses didn’t have a crush on you they would probably hit you for calling their dark prince that. I swear they all went crazy over him and the dudes in a coma.”
“Yeah I know that’s the reason I’m stuck baby sitting him. Every one of the nurses in charge of looking after the Teme got caught trying to molest him. That’s why Tsunde-baba said I have to do it. Well that and I haven’t had any work to do down here for the last couple months. Honestly I mean did someone discover the fountain of youth or something because it’s just weird not having any dead bodies in the morgue for over two months!” The blonde complained.
Just then voices crackled over the radio in the paramedic vest. “Oh, looks like I’ve got to go. There’s an accident on the number 4 Highway.”
“Oh really! Bring me back something nice… and preferably dead.” The blond said.
The dog lover just stared at the blond.
“I’m just kidding.” The blond laughed.
“Really dude you need to get out more your morbid sense of humor is even getting creepy for me.”
“Fine, fine I have to go check up on the Teme anyway. Honestly I think I’m starting to enjoy our one-sided conversations.” The blond pondered thoughtfully.
“Later dude I gotta run.”
“See ya Kiba!”
The blond sighed as his friend ran off. He picked his knapsack up and tossed it on this desk. He pulled out his white doctors coat and put on he brunt orange tie.
“I guess it’s time to play doctor with the Teme again.” The blond said as he headed for the stairs. Deciding he had enough troubles involving elevators for one day.

The raven wasn’t sure how much time had passed since he first heard that voice. It felt like years, but at the same time only seconds. Wherever he was time was a hard thing to judge. Instead he would busy himself thinking about that warmth, light and voice.
The voice would come and go bringing with it the light that would chase the darkness far away. When it left the light would go with it, but strangely enough the warmth would remain. It would protect and comfort him from the darkness until that voice and light would return. Honestly the warmth was the only thing that kept him from almost losing himself to the darkness.
He enjoyed the light. It almost felt like he was basking in the suns glow. Sun… yes that pretty much described what that voice, light and warmth were to him. The sun. His sun. Okay maybe the “his” part was a bit of a stretch because he didn’t even know what that sunny presence was. Still, for some strange reason he felt almost possessive of it.
Possessive wasn’t a strange thing for an Uchiha to be but still this felt stronger than any other time. Perhaps it was because this sun had saved him from the darkness? Just thinking about this was giving him a headache. Could he even get a headache if he couldn’t feel his head? Whatever it doesn’t matter because ‘his’ sun had come back.
It was a strange thing for the raven to feel so happy about something like that. Honestly he hadn’t felt this cheery since before his brother had…had… No he wasn’t going to think about that. Instead he listened to melodic sounds ‘his’ sun was making.
He was pretty sure that the voice was speaking words but what they were he was unsure. It didn’t really matter anyway as long as his sun’s voice rang with happiness.
He briefly wondered to himself when he started to be so sappy. If someone in his life before talked this much it would just annoy him. Also he had this weird feeling that the voice was sometimes insulting him.

“Good Morning, Teme!” the blond said cheerily as he entered the room that held his only living patient.
He walked over to the chart at the end of the bed and picked it up. He hmmed as he looked over it.
“Looks like not much has changed which is a good and a bad thing. It means you aren’t getting better, but it also means the you aren’t trying to die on me again.” The blond smiled at the raven breathing peaceful on the hospital bed. The blond thought back to when he had first been put in charge of the other male.
The raven know as Sasuke Uchiha had arrived a little under a week ago and already he had been through 7 nurses. Not that it was the raven’s fault because he was unconscious, no it was because they kept trying to molest the dark haired man. The Dean of Medicine, Tsunade thought that it wouldn’t be good if he woke up to someone molesting him. That could mean a lot of trouble for the hospital and her. She decided that the only one she could trust not to molest the a coma patient was the man she saw as a little brother. Beside the little blond Gaki hadn’t had much in the way of work for quite a while now and she wasn’t going to pay him to sit around and play tic tac toe with himself. That was just unhealthy and a waste of money, too.
He wasn’t happy, but after a little threatening he arrive at the room. The blond stared at the unconscious man in the bed and one word came to mind. ‘Teme.’
He hadn’t been in the room but 30 seconds before all the monitors started beeping like crazy. It was a funny thing that when he seen the other males heart rate drop he was so afraid that he’d lose the raven he just met. It was almost like feeling he got when he first saw the body of his dead lover. It was really strange because he had never met this man before. He had been so afraid and just stood there staring as nurses ran around the room trying to stabilize the raven.
Then there was and unmistakable sound of the monitor flat lining. The nurses tried to revive the raven but in the end it seemed futile. They were just about to pronounce him, when he stepped forward. He dropped to his knees at the side of the raven’s bed and grabbed his hand. He didn’t know why he did it. Technically the others heart had stopped he was dead, but it didn’t stop him from speaking.
“Stay with me… Stay with me.”
The blonde’s call was answered as the flat lining machine started beep again as the raven’s heart rhythm slowly returned to normal.
Blond laid his head against the side of the hospital bed. The others pale hand still tightly clasped in his own. It wasn’t possible. It wasn’t real, but it was real! He was dead and now he isn’t, he’s alive.
The nurses were shocked at what they had seen, but not one of them ever spoke of it. Because as they watched the dead mans stats return to normal levels, they also watched the blond cry tears happiness and sorrow, for the man who lived and his lover who didn’t.
The blond swore that as the tears fell he felt the raven squeeze his hand lightly, but then again it was probably just his imagination.
The blond sighed as he placed the clipboard back into the slot at the end of the bed. When Kiba asked him why he chose to be a doctor to the dead instead of the living he had answered truthfully but joked it off at the same time. He didn’t want to take care of the living because he didn’t want to fail. He had seen to many people die in front of his eyes. He didn’t want to see anymore die. Besides you can’t die if you’re already dead. Dead he could handle, dieing he couldn’t.
The blond sighed at his morbid thoughts.
‘I really do need to get out more.’
“Okay Teme it looks like your doing okay. I’ll tell a nurse to bring another multi vitamin IV drip for you. Errr… on the other hand I think I’ll get it. I don’t want to give those nurses any reasons to molest you more than they have.”
The blond walked out of the room and returned soon after with another IV bag. He hooked it up and turned to man in the bed and smiled.
“There you go you’re all set. I’ll see you tomorrow, Teme.”
Then the blonde left. He had some other work to do in a couple of the other departments before he’d headed home early. He knew what tomorrow was and something told that he was going to need all the strength he could muster to get through it.
††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††
The darkness had returned and was lurking around trying to get at him but the warmth was protecting him still.
Then finally the light had come back but something was wrong because the voice didn’t speak. All that could be heard from his sun was little sobs and silent crying. Crying? Why was his sun crying.
‘Don’t cry. Don’t cry my sun.’ He felt this overpowering need to comfort his sun.
What sadness could have befallen his sun that tears would fall like rain. Then he felt it, dampness on his cheek. His cheek? When could he ever feel his cheeks?
Unsure of what was happening he attempted to raise his hand to touch the damp spot and to his surprise he actually felt it. He could feel his hand touch his cheek, he could feel the wetness there. Raising his hands up he was surprised once again as he could now see a shadowed outline of his hands and arms. What was happening? Never since he entered this darkness had he been able to see or feel any part of his body. Not only that but, the darkness around him seemed to have become less, ominous.
His thoughts were cut short as he felt another drop of wetness hit his cheek. Was it raining? Were clouds trying to hide his sun. No, he wouldn’t let that happen. He struggle to get free from the remaining darkness. His sun needed him!
††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††
He was right thinking that today was going to be a bad day. It was the anniversary of his lover’s…death. He swallowed hard at the memories.
He was doing well though. He made it to the hospital and had already finished almost everything he needed to do and it was only noon. He might actually make it through the whole day without braking down.
His fake smiles were foolproof and as long as no one started asking how he was feeling he would be fine. Honestly it was the day his lover died how do you think he felt?
He took a calming breath as he walked up the stares to check on his only living patient. He hollowly smiled at all the nurses that greeted him and continued on his way to visit his Teme. His Teme! When the hell did he start calling him ‘His’.
Maybe he would go home early today. Yeah that sounded good, go home and get a nice big bottle of vodka and drowned his sorrows away. Actually he probably wouldn’t need that big of a bottle. He never really drank and was kind of a lightweight. Come to think of it this day was the only day he really drank at all.
The blonde’s attention snapped back to reality after realizing he had been standing out side his patients door for probably a good couple minutes. Not wanting to embarrass himself further the blond walked swiftly inside and shut the door behind him.
Not looking at the raven laying in bed he picked up the clipboard and check over his vitals.
‘Everything looks fine.’ He thought to himself.
He looked up at the sleeping raven and his breath caught in his throat.
‘Why haven’t I noticed how beautiful this man was before?’
The blond unconsciously walked to the side of the raven’s bed and sat lightly of the side of the bed. His eyes were glassy with tears as he ran a tanned hand gently through the others midnight hair.
‘I’m not going to make it home. Don’t cry. Don’t cry!’ he mentally berated himself.
But even his own mental commands couldn’t stop the tears from falling. A tear land on the ravens check just as the blond started to silently sob over his lost lover. Watery blue eyes closed to try and hold in the tears, but still they fell down like raindrops onto the sheets of the bed. His sobs started to grow in volume as his heart ached.
The blond was startled when he felt strong arms circle his waist and pull him down onto the bed.
Surprised blue eyes looked up and locked with endless midnight-orbs. The blond was so lost in the raven’s eyes that he didn’t struggle when he felt the other pull him tighter to his chest.
Both men lay on the small hospital bed staring wordlessly at each other. Slowly weary blue eyes started to drop until his tan eyelids covered them. The blonde’s breathing evened out and he slipped into a restful sleep.
Onyx-eyes watched the other fall asleep in his arm and slowing fell asleep too. This time his sleep wasn’t one filled with darkness, but one will with oceanic blue eyes and sun kissed gold hair.
