Plans and Evil Dreams

Shikamaru was more than a little disturbed by the
recent turn of events, events that he had felt coming with a persistent
abundance of energy. Shikamaru was never energetic and on those rare occasions
when there was energy to spare he knew that there was a lot of troublesome work
waiting on the horizon. Were it not for the fact that Sasuke was his oldest and
dearest friend and that Shikamaru in working for Sasuke was allowed to have a
one day work week, most of the time, and his work often consisted mainly of
formulating plans, which could be done while watching clouds or the insides of
his eyelids, Shikamaru would not be in Sasuke�s employ.
Sighing and reviewing his conversation with Ino and
Shino Shikamaru began to formulate the plan that would dispose of the man that
Sasuke was looking for, when they found out who it was that Sasuke was looking
for.
�This is a pain indeed� Shikamaru muttered to
himself.
�A pain is it?� Shino asked from the tree branch above
him. �And why is it a pain?�
�Because I know that I will have to use the bag
that I did not unpack last week when we went to America to
dispose of that senator�s daughter and I don�t think that it is fair that we
will have to work more than once this month.�
�So then you think that we will be going to some
part of America?� Shino
asked knowing that if Shikamaru was taking the time to say what he thought then
it was something that they would be doing, Shikamaru did not work on guesses,
he worked with well thought out fact.
�Don�t be so bothersome� Shikamaru grunted letting
his eyes slide closed.
�I will unpack wash and repack your bags,� Shino
offered.
�We need to go to Sasuke� Shikamaru said. �We
should be getting there as soon as possible.
Shino did not say another word. Jumping down from
the tree Shino pulled out his cell phone and called Ino. After he got off the
line with Ino Shino called the airport and made arrangements for the Uchiha jet
to be made ready Shikamaru was a pilot so they could leave as soon as they got
him to the airport. The last thing Shino did was called the last member of
their group to let him know that they would be on their way to America in a
couple hours, but he didn�t answer his phone.

Iruka watched as Naruto walked up the stairs to the
room that he shared with Sasuke and now Neji. It amazed and to some extent
relieved Iruka that the young master had started building a life, a real life
that was not just cold calculation. When Iruka was sure that the three of them
were in their room he set the alarms with the remote from his small cottage on
the far side of the land and placed a call to his home in Japan and his
best friend and longest coworker.
�Iruka, what�s up?� Kakashi asked in greeting.
�I think that we are about to have a big problem
and I would feel a lot better if the four of you were here with us.�
�And this problem would be?�
�Sasuke has taken in another person.� Iruka said
hating to admit that they would have to deal with the Hyuuga family but knowing
that they would not sit idly by and let their young leader become a part of the
enemy ranks.
�And that person would be?� Iruka could hear the dread
in Kakashi�s voice.
�Hyuuga Neji� Iruka said nonchalantly. �He was
claimed by Sasuke last night and the claim was consummated this afternoon. Also
Sasuke is seeking vengeance on behalf of Neji as a show of faith. Neji is his
now.�
�Neji, really Sasuke, you had to take Hyuuga Neji.�
Kakashi said then let himself digress into a long string of curses in Swedish,
which as everyone knows is the best language for profanity, ask any Viking.
When he calmed somewhat he spoke. �Well he has good taste, if the last time I
saw Neji was any indication, Neji is one of the most beautiful people I have
ever seen. I would think that he is a perfect match for our boy.�
�Wait until you see Naruto� Iruka said smiling. �He
is a perfect match for Sasuke, but I have to admit in seeing the two of them
together I like that he has taken Neji in, and his desire to protect him shows
that he was not damaged beyond repair like we thought for so many years. But it
also proves him vulnerable because he has the ability to care for something or
someone other than himself.�
�Shino is trying to call me. I will call him and
then I will let you know when we will be there.� Kakashi sighed. �Shikamaru
will be the problem you know Shino and Shikamaru were in America a week ago it
is going to take a lot of bribery to get Shikamaru to fly us back again so
soon.�
�Take care of it� Iruka ordered. �And let him know what the situation is. I know
we usually only communicate with him
once a year to let him know how the young master is doing, but I think that he should know about this just in case
something goes wrong.�
�Agreed� Kakashi said �I�ll call him before I deal with Shino and
Shikamaru.�
Sasuke had been just a child when his brother, who
was his protector mentor father friend, his everything had come into his room
and lay with him until he fell asleep and then left him. Itachi had left an
envelope under his little brother�s pillow and instructions with the two men
that had pledged their lives to him. Iruka and Kakashi had not wanted to let
their young master go off into the world alone he was just a boy himself and
they had insisted that at least one of them stay with him at all time until he
was at least a little older and had others to replace them, instead Itachi had
left them with the task that he felt was the most important, take care of his
little brother.
Iruka and Kakashi knew why Itachi had left the
Uchiha household and they knew the pain it caused Itachi to leave Sasuke
behind. Iruka had even gone so far as to suggest that Itachi kill the entire
family or at the very least his father all Itachi had to do was place the order
and Iruka would do the deed. They all know what a monster the oldest Uchiha was
and they knew what would happen to Sasuke if he was not protected.
�But� Itachi had explained to his men all those
years ago. �If I kill them Sasuke would not understand. He would be heartbroken
and confused he is still such a delicate child.�
�He knows that your father is a monster in some
ways.� Kakashi had argued. �He knows.�
�Yes he knows that father is a monster but he does
not understand it.� Itachi told them. �He is still young enough that the
knowledge that father is a monster and the acceptance of that reality is not
the same thing. He is still young enough that he seeks father�s love and
attention. It would damage him inside if I were to kill father at this time.�
�It would damage him if you leave him alone here,
you should know that.� Iruka argued. �I don�t know why you don�t just kill them
all.�
�Because I love Sasuke� Itachi said. �I think that
I could live with Sasuke hating me, and if I killed our entire family he would
hate me, but eventually he would want to know why and I would not lie to him. Knowing
that I killed the family our entire family to protect him would make Sasuke
hate himself, and I love him to much to put him through that.�
So Itachi had left his little brother to the not so
tender mercies of their father with the protection of two men and an envelope
that would grant Sasuke his brother�s identity.
Itachi knew that living with their father without
him to shelter his little brother would change and possibly break something in
Sasuke, so he left the envelope with everything that Sasuke would need to
assume his identity, and the pass codes for a bank account that Itachi set up
for Sasuke in his name so that when the time came that Sasuke wanted to leave
he would have more than enough money to do so. Though Sasuke was never told his
location Iruka and Kakashi had ways to contact Itachi and they left yearly
reports on Sasuke�s wellbeing.
Even though he didn�t know it Sasuke was still very
much under the protection of his big brother and would be until the day they
died.
�Ino wanted to call Sasuke and let him know that we
were coming there� Shino told Shikamaru as they drove to the airport. �But
Kakashi said that he is busy right now and that Iruka is waiting for us.�
Shikamaru was sitting in the back seat of the car
in a fine rage. He knew that he should not have told Shino that they needed to
go to where Sasuke was but he had in a fit of nervous energy talked too much.
Now he would have to fly them all the way to America and he
was sure that when they got there he would have more work than the minimum that
he was allowed. They would be on active duty and that duty would last them for
more than a week or so he was sure, because at the moment he had more than
enough energy to fly them all the way to America kill a couple people and
dispose of the body in a distant remote location.
When they were all on the plane had gained a
cruising altitude and the auto pilot was set Kakashi began to speak to them.
�I just wanted to let you know that we are going to
have to kill off the entire Hyuuga clan.� He said calmly.
�Really� Ino smiled. �Then can I have Neji? He is
so beautiful and I want to spend some time with him before he goes. He was
rapped as a boy you know.� Then Ino paused. �Hey isn�t it strange that we will
be getting rid of the Hyuuga clan and I was just told that we are to find and
kill the person that rapped Neji as a boy and he is the rightful head of the
Hyuuga clan?�
�No� Shino said.
�No� Shikamaru said.
�No because Neji is now part of Sasuke�s family.�
Kakashi told them
�Family like us or family like this Naruto that
we�ve heard so much about?� Ino asked.
�Like Naruto� Shikamaru said as if she had asked
the most stupid question in the world. �Think woman why do you think it is that
we will be killing off the Hyuugas?�
�Because I have wanted to kill them for a long
while and my request has finally been accepted?� Ino said with a growl. �And
hopefully my request to take you out will soon be accepted as well.�
�Sasuke had made Neji his own.� Shikamaru said with
his eyes closed. �Neji was rapped as a boy, his father is dead and he should be
but is not the head of the Hyuuga clan. Could it be any more obvious that we
are taking them out for Neji�s safety? I think that either his uncle who took
his place as family head rapped him after his father died or he had it done.
Neji�s uncle is the root of this issue and taking him out will save us a lot of
time and effort.�
�I think you�re right� Kakashi said. �When we get
to America I will
send Iruka back to watch the Hyuuga family head.�
�He is not the head of the family� Shino said
patiently. �I checked into it the council granted him authority over the family
until such time as Neji takes command. The only thing is that now Neji has
shown that he has no interest in leading the family by letting his uncle claim
his birthright. Neji could take the position but he would be open to
challenge.�
�I see� Kakashi mussed �So the family council
thinks that Neji doesn�t want the position?�
�Something like that� Shino said. �I think that it
is that and that they now think that he does not deserve it. There are a lot of
people that follow the old ways especially in the yakuza but his lack of
respect and desire for the position has made him appear weak. Sure he is
growing the business in leaps and bounds in America and is
generating lots of money, but the fact that he never took his seat has marked
him a follower, and the family would not willingly accept him as their head.�
Shino looked at the uninterested eyes of Ino and
the sleeping eyes of Shikamaru and shrugged. He knew that both of them had
absorbed everything that he said but it would have been nice if they would have
acknowledged him in something more than a grunt and a snore.
�We appreciate your work Shino� Kakashi said in a
sarcastic voice.
�Yeah you can go somewhere and die old man.� Shino
said as he woke Shikamaru and followed him to the cockpit.
Sasuke and Neji woke shortly after Naruto arrived
with their dinner. Neji for the second time in less than twenty four hours had
slept deeply and peacefully.
�I think I need to call and check on Hinata.� Neji
said with a start as soon as he opened his eyes. �She must be feeling
betrayed.� Neji said sadly as he sat up in bed pulling the sheets around him
tightly. �She was all I had for so very long and now it is like I have found
happiness and just thrown her away. That is a horrible thing for me to do to
her. No matter what happened in the past she is the one that got me away from
Uncle. Hinata gave up her life so that she could come with me and protect me.�
Sasuke sighed and lay flat on his back looking up
into the eyes of his new love� Love� had he just named Neji love in his mind?
Sasuke watched the pulse jump in Neji�s neck and let his eyes wander to the
slope of his shoulder and the clean lines of his jaw. Yes Neji was Sasuke�s
property.
�Neji� Naruto said softly from the corner of the
bed. �I like Hinata a lot, she is the first person that I thought of as a real
friend, not someone that I idolized and wanted to be a part of their life like
Sasuke and you. But the fact remains that she left this house when she saw the
three of us in bed together. There may be a chance that she wanted to let you,
or us have some privacy or she may have been hurt by the fact that all of us looked
like we were sleeping happily here and she was not a part of that, but that has
nothing to do with the fact that she left this house when she knew that you
would not be in a position to stop her and she made contact with at least one
person that she knows is your enemy.� Naruto reached his hand out toward Neji
and then pulled it away. �I don�t want to hurt you. I know that you are a
strong person but everyone has a weakness, Hinata knows that yours is what
happened to you a long time ago, and I think that if she were so worried about
you and wanted you to be happy then she would not have left this house in a
huff she would have waited until you were awake and made arrangements for her
safety.�
�Have you ever thought that she is doing this just
to act out?� Neji asked hope in his voice. �Just like she was all that I had
all there years I am all she has had. She gave up a lot to come away from the
family with me. She left her life so that I would not be alone to start a new
one.� Neji turned away from Naruto and Sasuke huddling in on himself and
clutching his shoulders. �You don�t understand.�
�I will check on Hinata� Sasuke said standing.
�Neji don�t think that we don�t know what it is like to be alone or to loose
the one person that has protected or sheltered you all your life.� Sasuke went
to the bathroom. �I will bring her back here.�
Neji was frustrated there was a part of him a large
part that wanted to just forget about the past and revel in the fact that there
was someone that would take care of him and protect him from all the things
that would hurt him, all the things that he could not admit still plagued his
dreams. But Neji hated the fact that he with this new security was made to feel
weak.
�I am not weak� Neji said in a firm voice.
�No one thinks that you are weak.� Naruto said in a
soft voice. �You were hurt a long time ago just like Sasuke and just like me.�
Naruto could tell that Neji was closing off from him and decided to tell his
story. �I will run you a bath and then we can talk ok? I�ll tell you a story.�
Naruto smiled at Neji as he stood to run to the outer bath.
�What makes you think that a story will make it all
better idiot?� Neji asked in a huff.
�I don�t think that.� Naruto said shoulders
stiffening. �I think that the story will be sad, but it will make you
understand.� With that Naruto was gone and Neji was left alone feeling like a
weak traitor. Rummaging around Neji found his cell phone and called his house.
The manservant picked up on the second ring.
�Is Hinata well?� Neji asked without preamble.
�Yes sir� the man said in a nasal voice heavy with
a Japanese accent.
�Ask her to come to the line�
�Miss Hyuuga is asleep sir� The servant said. �She
informed the staff that her head hurt shortly after arriving at the house and
went to sleep not long ago. I will of course wake her if you�d like.�
�No, that won�t be necessary� Neji said quickly
hating to admit that he was relieved for his short reprieve. �I will be home in
the morning. Tell your mistress as soon as she wakes.�
�Shall I send a car for you?�
�I will call and let you know.� Neji said and
disconnected the call. Closing his eyes for a moment Neji sighed deeply. �I
don�t want to have to choose between what I think I can have here and Hinata.
Why do I have to choose?�
�You don�t� Sasuke said from the door to the
bathroom. �Hinata is the one that has to or maybe already has made the choice.�
Sasuke had a towel around his waist but his skin was still dry. �You need to
know that if I find that Hinata is a threat to my family, and that includes
you, I will have her killed. For your sake her death can be a painless one.�
�You don�t�� Neji began
�Don�t you dare tell me that I don�t understand.�
Sasuke ground out. �You don�t understand.�
�I am not WEAK!� Neji growled. �Stop making
decisions and arrangements for me like I am some child. I can protect myself
now.�
�Neji� Sasuke deflated somewhat finally realizing
that he had not understood. �I know you can protect yourself now. I just want
to� No I am going to protect you from the past, from when you couldn�t protect
yourself. Try to understand. I know that you are not weak, and I like that,
hell even the idiot is not a weakling, I would not desire you the way I do if
you were. You just have to understand that in letting you into my and Naruto�s
lives I have made your vulnerabilities my own just as mine are now yours. If
there was something that you knew I could not deal with efficiently, wouldn�t
you take it over?�
�I would have no choice� Neji pouted turning away
from the site of the shirtless Sasuke. �If we are truly a family then to
protect you is to protect me.�
�Now that we have an understanding� Sasuke said as
he turned to the bath.
�Naruto� Neji called to the blonde that was
standing quietly in the doorway.
�The bath should be ready now.� Naruto said
quietly. �Come on, please�
Neji stood stiffly oddly the strange stiffness and
slight pain brought a smile to his face that was followed by a sudden intense
blush. He was no longer a virgin, but he had to do something about the fact
that he had been on the receiving end and not the giving end. Neji shuddered as
he thought of Sasuke�s strong body pushing into him and Neji�s eyes glazed over
at the thought of holding Sasuke down as he thrust into Sasuke.
�Flashback� Naruto said in a soft husky voice. �I
don�t know what he does to people but you just can�t stop thinking about him,
his touch his strength his skin his voice. I think he is the devil.� Naruto
whispered as he led Neji to the bath.
Turning to face Neji Naruto said �You�ll have to
loose the sheet and try not to get it wet we need it on the bed.
�I can take a bath without help.� Neji said holding
on to the sheet.
�Give it to me and get in the tub.� Naruto said
reaching out his hand for the sheet. �I�ll be right back.�
Neji reluctantly gave Naruto the sheet and turned
to climb into the large tub. Hearing Naruto�s gasp Neji froze looking over his
shoulder.
�What� Neji asked?
�You�re badly bruised.� Naruto said sadly. �He hurt
you. Neji� I�m so� I�m so sorry he hurt you.�
Neji looked down at himself for the first time and
noted the many bruises on his thighs where Sasuke had grabbed his legs and held
them in position, the bruises on his hips where Sasuke had gripped and pulled,
his arms his back his nipples his neck. Everywhere Sasuke touched Neji evidence
of his claim was left in bruises in the form of Uchiha fingerprints and hands.
Neji smiled cherishing the bruises and eased his body into the hot water.
�I think I like the bruises� Neji sighed.
�But he��
�Pleased me greatly and the evidence of my pleasure
is written on my body.� Neji said calmly. �Naruto you see how pale my skin is,
I bruise easily.�
�Oh so� then he didn�t hurt you?� Naruto asked
shyly easing closer to Neji.
�Not in the way that you were thinking.� Neji
answered with his eyes closed.
�Good� Naruto said dropping the sheet and coming to
stand beside the tub. �May I touch your hair?�
�It is dirty� Neji said looking at Naruto with one
eye open.
�May I wash it� Naruto asked softly.
�If you want� Neji shrugged. �But you have to tell
me this story of yours�
�Deal� Naruto said gathering shampoo conditioner
and soap. �In exchange for my story I get to give you a bath.� Naruto said
excitedly. �You are getting a good deal, I think after this you will owe me
one.�
�I don�t know about that� Neji smiled. �Now start
this story.�
�There was this woman who was loved in the small
town she was raised in. One day while she was out, on the wrong side of the
tracks it is said she met a man.� As Naruto talked his fingers began to wet
then lather Neji�s hair.
Neji relaxed into the feel of Naruto�s fingers
gently scratching his scalp.
When Sasuke was dressed and ready to leave the
house he called and told Iruka where he was going and what he was doing. Then
he stopped by the bathroom door where he listened to Naruto tell Neji the story
of his youth, and the beating that ultimately drove him from the town he was
raised in. Naruto had not given Sasuke the intimate details about his past that
he now shared with Neji. The horrible truth was like cold fire through Sasuke�s
blood. Sasuke�s anger threatened to overflow until he heard Neji�s calm voice
ask if those people were still living in that town in an almost uninterested
tone. Smiling Sasuke thought having Neji there was a benefit indeed.
Turning from the bathroom to walk silently down the
hall and out of his house Sasuke knew, he needed Neji and Naruto in his life to
make him alive and strong and whole and human and to keep them safe Sasuke
would kill more than just the Hyuuga clan and a few senators� daughters.
Thinking of Neji the last time Sasuke had seen him angry and out for blood
Sasuke relaxed if something happened to him Naruto would be taken care of Sasuke
realized that he as well had a protector, Neji
is more than a pretty face and a tight ass Sasuke laughed as he slid into
his car to go pay Hyuuga Hinata a visit.

The direct flight to the private airfield in Maine was not
one that Shikamaru would like to repeat any time soon.
�I think that I will take active duty here for a
while when this is all over and done with.� Shikamaru told everyone as he
walked to the car that was waiting for them leaving his bag to anyone else�s
care. �I don�t know how you all are going to get home but I will not be the one
to fly you there not for at least another three to four weeks. I have earned a
vacation.�
Kakashi smiled knowing that as soon as the reality
of staying with Sasuke settled in Shikamaru would be in more than a hurry to
get back to where there was no �boss� to make him earn his disgustingly large
pay.
Iruka smiled as his partners in crime settled into
the car, Kakashi taking the seat beside him in the front.
�Take us to somewhere we can have a meal and a
nap.� Shikamaru said in a bored tone and closed his eyes.
�I have a task for you to attend to.� Iruka told
Shikamaru as he pulled into traffic. �One that I think that you will like� the
annoyed grunt he received in response told Iruka that Shikamaru was listening
to him so he continued. �I think that Hyuuga Hinata will be a problem in the
near future and I think that some time in your tender mercies will serve her
well.�
The ghost of a smile fluttered across Shikamaru�s
lips but he said nothing. The other passengers of the car knew that he would
take his time with the Hyuuga heiress and that when Shikamaru was done with her
any information she had would be theirs, though Hinata would be little more
than a doll until the time that they decided to send her body to the shadow
that Shikamaru would cast her mind into.
�Why is it that the lazy one gets all the fun? Shino
asked in a huff.
�We appreciate you and all that you do Shino� Iruka
said in a long suffering voice. �Can you tell me what you know of Hinata? I�m
sure that you have information.�
�Well in the event that she is making a move then I
think she would send for a guy named Rock Lee� Shino said closing his eyes
while retrieving the information gathered on they Hyuuga heiress. �From what I
know just from general information on her she has been sleeping with this guy
for years. He has a reputation of being flamboyant and loud, full of lively
energy. I think it is a cover that he uses to gauge his opponents. He and his
mentor Guy like to take part in silly challenges from everything to rock paper
scissors to hopping on one leg.�
�Rock paper scissors, really, is this guy on any
medication, or should he be?� Ino asked.
�No I just think it is a ploy to make people think
he is silly, because he is one of the deadliest killers associated with the
Hyuuga clan that is not a Hyuuga, and when I say Hyuuga I mean Hinata her
father or Neji.� Shino said. �The one person that survived an attack from him
said that he is stronger than the devil himself and fast. The rumor has it that
he wears weights at all times. Even in the bath, and if he were to take them
off��
�May I have that one?� Ino asked Iruka and Kakashi.
�I think I have earned the right to some fun on this trip and I haven�t had a
man in a while.� Ino�s smile made all the men in the car cringe and the two men
in the backseat on either side of her moved as far away from her as they could
in the confines of the backseat of the car.
�He�s yours� Kakashi said not wanting to know what
she had in mind. �Just get some information from him before you do whatever it
is that you do that makes men bite off their own tongues.�
�We have no proof that he will be coming here but I
think that before we can take care of Hinata we will have to deal with him.�
Shino said.
�If she�s been sleeping with him for years then she
will send for him.� Ino said. �He�ll be here.�
The remainder of the car ride was spent in silent
conversation the old friends catching up on each other�s lives as Shikamaru
sleepily planned his time with the Hyuuga heiress.
Sasuke arrived at the Hyuuga mansion and was
greeted by the manservant that worked their door.
�Master Uchiha� the man said in greeting opening
the door before the Uchiha had reached the top step. �I apologize sir but
master Neji is not in and lady Hinata is asleep. She has asked not to be
disturbed for the rest of the night.�
�I am aware of your master�s location and I need to
speak to Hinata.� Sasuke said in an emotionless tone that left no room for
contradiction especially from a servant. �I will wait in the parlor while you
wake and inform your lady that I am here.� Having spoken Sasuke walked past the
servant and knowing the layout of the lower level of the house took a seat in
the waiting room that the Hyuuga cousins had awaited his arrival the night
before.
Little less than an hour later Hinata stepped into
the waiting room, though she tried to hide it behind her normal timid tone
Sasuke could see the fire of resentment in her eyes. She was going to be
trouble, big trouble.
�Hinata, I have come here because Neji as well as
Naruto are worried about you.� Sasuke said watching her closely. �They don�t
understand why you left the house.�
�I was not feeling well� Hinata began taking a seat
across from Sasuke. �And from my understanding it was my cousin and not me that
would be the one that would stay with you this time. Was I not correct in my
understanding that Neji would be the offering?�
�Neji is in my understanding your guardian.� Sasuke
said looking her in the eye. �And as your guardian responsible for your
safety.�
Hinata�s laugh was an eerie one. Sasuke knew that
she would have to be killed but just this once though he knew that it would be
more trouble than it was worth in the long run he would wait until there was
hard proof before he had her killed.
�Did you know that in all actuality I am Neji�s
guardian?� Hinata said in a mocking tone. �I am three years older than he is.
It has been the lie that we have told over the years that he is older. We have
told this lie so much I myself often believe it.�
�And that has what to do with this situation? You
know that Neji has always cared greatly for your safety.� Sasuke said doing the
math in his head. Hinata was years younger than Sasuke and Naruto that made
Neji... But Sasuke had known Neji and Hinata for years done business with them
for years.
�I see you counting in your head.� Hinata continued
venom dripping from her words. �Neji was only eighteen seventeen
when you first met him face to face and only sixteen fifteen
when the two of you first started doing business together. I see
that you did not notice that he grew a full three inches over the time that you
have known him.� tapping a finger to her chin Hinata mused, �It must be the
delicate bone structure. He was a very small boy at eleven when we left home he
was the same size as one of our seven year old cousins.� Hinata laughed to
herself angry that no emotion showed in Sasuke�s eyes, she knew what she saw
earlier that day but could not read it in him.
�It does not change the fact that��
�Uchiha let�s not play the game.� Hinata told him.
�I know that you know his past. So I will tell you this. Neji is broken. He looks like a grown man and is very powerful and very dangerous, but
he is nothing but a wounded boy that cannot outrun his past.�
�He may be younger than I thought he was but��
�Neji belongs
to me� Hinata said evenly, her voice deep and heavy. �From the time we left
home he has been mine. I saved him and I will not let you take him away from
me. I will not let you hurt him.�
�What I do with Neji is my business.� Sasuke said
standing. He had learned all he needed to know.
�If you hurt him�� Hinata let the threat hang in
the air.
�There will be nothing you can do about it but hope
that I don�t hurt you too.� Sasuke said as he walked out of the Hyuuga house.
When he got into his car Sasuke sighed heavily and
drove to his home. He hoped that Ino and the others would be there soon because
that Hyuuga bitch needed to die. Damn Neji and patience she would have to die
within the week if he had to do it himself, and God help her if it came to
that.
Sasuke could see in Hinata�s eyes that she was not
worried about the Uchiha hurting Neji as much as she was insulted by the fact
that she felt that Sasuke had usurped her claim. The young Hyuuga was little
more than a boy that had been forced to soon to be a man. Thinking back on his
first meetings with Neji Sasuke realized that the Hyuuga had been young, but
the arrogance power and confidence he exuded had overshadowed his youth.
The size of a seven year old, Hinata had said, Neji
was the size of a seven year old when her father had tried to rape him. Sasuke
knew that Hinata told him that bit to see if there was any emotion behind
Sasuke�s dealing with Neji and as a true Uchiha Sasuke had kept his emotions
locked away, but now he could think of it Neji had been tiny at the time, a
typical Japanese seven year old was small and from Neji�s bone structure Sasuke
was sure he was no exception. The years had given Neji height he now stood just
under six feet, but then� yes Hyuuga Hinata and her father would have to die.
Horribly!
When Sasuke reached his grounds he noticed the
lights in the small house. Pulling up to the front door he decided to talk to
his friend. Walking in Sasuke saw that everyone was in attendance, good; plans
could be made and set in motion.
�Sasuke� Ino said in a low sultry voice. �I hear
that you are growing quite the harem.�
�Quite� Iruka nodded kicking Shikamaru�s foot off
the couch so that Sasuke could sit.
�You are here for a reason tell us so that we can
get this started so we can go home.� Shikamaru grouched as he reclined beside
his old friend.
�Min�� Sasuke began
�English only on American soil� Kakashi said.
�God you sound like Neji� Sasuke sighed, �Though I
understand his reasoning for it,� deflating Sasuke said, �Even more now. Shino,
how old is Hyuuga Neji?�
�It is widely believed, even by members of his
clan, that he is twenty six but the truth is that he has just turned twenty
little under a month ago.� Shino answered.
Everyone in the room looked shocked Sasuke
resigned.
�What,� Iruka said �He�s a child? That can�t be
right Shino, we have been dealing with that bastard for at least five maybe six
years now he��
�Is only twenty� Shino said firmly.
�That explains a lot� Kakashi said. �Ino will kill
the man Rock Lee that Hinata sent for earlier today Shikamaru will take care of
Hinata and once that is done we will go home to Japan and take
care of the Hyuuga family head.�
�Just to be sure Sasuke� Shino asked �are we taking
them over or just killing them all?�
�I think after Hinata and her father are dead that
there will be no more need for violence. Neji is their leader we will kill
Hinata and her father and anyone that is loyal to them and then I don�t care
what happens to them, and to be honest it is not my choice, but Neji�s.�
�Neji�s Choice� everyone in the room whispered.
�I guess� Sasuke shrugged
�You, what, love him or something?� Ino asked
�Not as much as I love you� Sasuke said looking Ino
in the eyes emotionlessly.
�That�s my boy� Ino said patting him on the
shoulder. �In a way I�m glad we don�t have to fight Neji. I�ve heard some of
the things he�s done to people and it made me shiver with the telling.�
Everyone in the room except Sasuke nodded. Neji was
very dangerous and he was creative with his methods the only thing that made
Sasuke more feared was that he was emotionless; he never cared for anyone or
anything, oh how times had changed.

Neji listened as Naruto spoke in an offhand manner
of the small town and the small boy that was tortured his entire life. Neji
knew, though Naruto did not say it, that Naruto was telling his own life story.
For the first time in his life Neji thought that maybe he was the lucky one as
far as childhoods had gone. Naruto�s eyes had glazed over as he worked the
soapy sponge over Neji�s skin. Though the touches could have been intimate they
were more an unconscious mechanical action than anything else. By the time the
bath was done Naruto was explaining in graphic detail how the light reflected
off the bloody glass as he fell.
Neji stepped from the tub with a bath sheet wrapped
around his waist and turned Naruto to face him. Looking into blank sky colored
eyes Neji sighed. How has this man stayed
so innocent through all this? How is it that Naruto still has such a capacity
for love after the world had tried his entire childhood to kill him?
�Naruto� Neji whispered pulling the blonde from his
thoughts �There is nothing wrong with resenting or seeking revenge against
people that try to hurt you without reason. There is nothing wrong with hating
them. You would be justified in it.�
�That may be true� Naruto said shuddering as if the
physical motion shook off the memory that had for so many years caged him. �But
then if I carry that hate in me it will make me like them and I like to think
that no matter what I can stay at least that one step away from them. My goal
in life is to never become like them. I would rather die.�
�I think it would be better if they were the ones
to die.� Neji muttered under his breath. �I am going to dry my hair.� Neji said
aloud to Naruto. �Could you go and find me something to put on, please?�
�Sure� Naruto said with a smile. �The bastard has
plenty of clothes. They are way too big for me but I think that you would be
able to fit most of them without too much problem.�
Naruto walked from the bathroom in search of
clothes and Neji watched him in awe. It was as if the blonde had dropped the
baggage of his past and only picked it up when needed. Neji was stunned, �How
does he do that?� Neji wondered aloud.
�How does who do what?� Sasuke asked
�I was just wondering how Naruto can be so easy and
open about his past. I don�t understand how it is that he can let go of so much
pain as if it were nothing more than a bad day at work.� Neji explained.
�He is special� Sasuke said and turned to walk
away. He didn�t even seem surprised that I
was standing behind him. Sasuke noted to himself a little disappointed that
his sudden appearance had not startled Neji. I guess I�ll have to try harder to sneak up on him.
�Hey Bastard� Neji called.
Sasuke turned
�You can�t sneak up on me, and if you insist on
trying then I may have to start sneaking up on you.� Neji said combing through
his hair Neji began the long process of blowing it dry.
Sasuke grunted and walked back to the bathroom. He
was going to let Neji�s little secrete remain a secret but hey, all was fair.
�Neji, I saw Hinata.� Sasuke began letting himself
sink into the emotionless void that sheltered him when his brother left him
knowing that Neji would not easily be able to read him that way. �She has
decided to stay at home she was not feeling well and wanted to get some rest.�
Neji did not speak, nor did he turn off the
blow-dryer, but Sasuke noted the tightness around his eyes and the stiffness in
his shoulders.
�Hinata is well and she has sent for a Rock Lee to
come to her side so she will fair well now that you have moved in here with
me.� Sasuke continued pretending not to notice the subtle changes in Neji�s
posture. �We will go tomorrow and get your clothes.�
Neji still did not speak busying himself with the
task of drying his hair.
Sasuke leaned in brushing his lips across the bruises
on Neji�s shoulder smirking at the thought of how those bruises came to be.
�Oh and Neji,� Sasuke said meeting Neji�s eyes in
the bathroom mirror �I know you just turned twenty a few weeks ago, just after
your uncle ordered you to kill me.�
Naruto�s gasp pulled two sets of eyes to the
doorway where Naruto stood, mouth open in shock. The clothes he�d brought for
Neji forgotten on the floor at his feet.
�He What!� Naruto asked �Are you telling me that
Neji is only twenty years old? Just turned twenty years old, why didn�t you
tell me Bastard?�
Sighing Sasuke dropped his head. �I just found out
today from Hinata. I thought he was our age.�
�She told you� Neji asked shocked that his secret
had been revealed by the one person that he was so sure would never betray him.
�She did not tell it outright but she told me that
she is three years older than you.� Sasuke said leaning against the wall
watching Neji efficiently deal with his hair. �I got the information from my
staff after talking to her. I would never have though about it otherwise.�
�Well� Neji separated another portion of hair and
began to dry it. �I guess your knowing doesn�t really hurt anything.�
�Tell me about Lee� Sasuke said. �I was informed
that Hinata and Lee have been having an affair for years now.�
�I guess that�s true.� Neji said �He is hers. There
is nothing that she could ask him to do that he would refuse her. But if Lee is
coming then that means that Guy will be here as well. The two of them together
are hard to deal with.�
�I was told that they are powerful� Sasuke muttered
more to himself than either of the other men in the room.
�Well there is that too,� Neji hedged trying to
find the words to describe the men that would soon be on American soil. �They
are just hard to be around, when they get here I will take you to meet them.�
Neji smiled. �You�ll see�
�You�ll what?� Sasuke asked in a deceptively calm
voice.
�I said that I will take you to meet them when they
get here.� Neji said slowly looking Sasuke in the eye in the mirror over his
shoulder. �Or do you think that I will allow you to restrict my movements. I am
still a member, high ranking member of the Hyuuga clan. I will take you to meet
Hinata�s men.�
�Hinata�s men, not yours?� Naruto asked.
�No those two are not mine nor are they her
father�s those two belong to Hinata and Hinata alone.� Neji said evenly.
Sasuke looked Neji in the eye once more in the
mirror and then turned to leave the bath. He knew that there was no way he
would be able to control Neji with force and he didn�t think he wanted to deal
with the headache of trying, and to be honest at the moment he was more
concerned with the fact that Neji was so young.
Naruto followed Sasuke out of the bathroom glancing
over his shoulder every so often at Neji. When Sasuke and Naruto closed the
bedroom door behind them Naruto looked worriedly at Sasuke.
�He is a child Bastard.� Naruto said in a low sad
voice. �I know that it would make him angry to hear me say this but he is so
young and from what I understand of the little bit that I have heard he has
been on his own for longer than I have.�
�I know� Sasuke said pulling his sweater over his
head. �But he is not a child and he can take care of himself. We have to
remember that or things will not go smoothly around here.� Sasuke disrobed
quietly wondering how he would deal with Neji. �Or are you saying that you
think we should give him back because he is too young?� Sasuke glanced at
Naruto amused by the thunderstruck look Naruto gave him. �I don�t know that his
age makes a difference.�
�I don�t think it does as far as him being a part
of our family but I will say this.� Naruto spoke as he handed Sasuke a fresh
pair of pajama pants. �I want those people that hurt him out of the picture permanently.
Then I will rest a lot easier. I don�t want them to have the chance to hurt him
again, in any way. You better make it happen bastard.� Naruto spoke as he went
about picking up the clothes Sasuke had dropped on the floor.
�What about the people that hurt you?� Neji said
from the door. �If you have the right to seek vengeance for my past then I have
the right to do the same for you.� Neji said to Naruto.
�It�s not the same� Naruto tried to explain. �They
hurt you at a time that you could not protect yourself. They were supposed to
be there for you.� Struggling for the words to describe how he felt Naruto just
shrugged. �I care for you, you are mine and what they did to you was wrong.�
Sasuke smirked from behind Naruto knowing what
Neji�s response would be.
�I�m glad we understand each other Naruto.� Neji
smiled.
�I agree� Sasuke said pulling back the cover on the
bed.
�What does that mean?� Naruto said looking at the
two men that he was sure would be the death of him. �Why couldn�t I have been
satisfied when there was just one of you?�
�Let�s get some sleep� Sasuke said. �Get in
beautiful� Sasuke motioned Neji under the cover then climbed in behind him
Naruto turned off the lights and crawled in behind Sasuke spooning the taller
man.
�Is this strange?� Naruto wondered aloud.
�Does it feel strange?� Sasuke asked.
�No it feels like home, it feels good.� Naruto said
sleepily.
�Then that�s what it is.� Sasuke murmured nuzzling
into Neji�s hair.
The three of them were asleep in minutes.
Hinata paced her room in a frenzy. It had been
twelve hours since Orochimaru had left her and she was sure that his flight had
not arrived in Japan yet.
There was a part of her that was afraid now that she had let the secret of
Neji�s age out. It wasn�t the fact that it was such a big deal now that he was
an established power, it was the confidence that she had openly broken in her
anger.
I never
even remember that Neji is as young as he is, Hinata thought. I was just this morning thinking to myself
that he was twenty six and still a virgin and then at the worst time do I not
only remember his real age but I all but blurt it out.
Sighing Hinata sat at her desk, Neji will see it as a betrayal, and I need
him complacent for my plan to work. It was my idea to pretend that he was older
in the first place. Hinata muttered to herself remembering the time she and
Neji spent their first year away from home. Neji was small and people looked at
him as prey. The school that they attended that first year got many complaints
form parents about Neji abusing their sons. Hinata laughed to herself. They
thought he was prey because he was small and he turned out to be a bruiser. His
trauma made Neji fearful of anyone beside Hinata touching him or getting close
to him and his frustration at his powerlessness on the night of his attack made
him angry and violent. Add to that the fact that he had trained in various
forms of martial arts from the time he could walk and that added up to lots of
bullies eating shit sandwiches.
The one thing that made it easier to pretend that
he was older was the fact that he was a genius, and as such by the time they
left home he was already entering high school, which only took him two years to
complete. By the time they decided to make America their
home Neji was in his first year of University. Neji had completed an advanced
degree by the time Hinata entered University.
�And that is a big part of the problem.� Hinata
muttered to herself. �Neji is a fucking genius and he is sick in the head.�
Hinata thought of how she would get Neji to trust
her again, or at the very least delay Neji in coming after her until her men
got there. She knew that she would have to protect herself even if Neji didn�t
come after her Hinata was sure that the Uchiha would. But Hinata was also sure
that she would be safe when Lee and Guy got there. Lee had always resented
Neji, because Hinata made sure to let Lee know that Neji was the reason that
she would not be able to have the life with him that Lee longed for.
Hinata�s excuse for all the rejection that she had
dealt Lee over the years was that Neji needed her at his side that Neji would
not allow her to leave him for an extended time. Hinata had even told Lee that
Neji sent her to stay with the Uchiha for a while to solidify a business deal.
Hinata chuckled when she remembered how hard it had been to keep Lee from going
after Neji at the time.
�You�ll have your chance to try to kill him Lee, I
hope you live through it.�
Orochimaru walked through the airport with a
purpose. He knew that Hinata was planning something and it was big. What he did
not know was where Neji was and what had happened. Orochimaru knew that two
Hyuuga cousins when into the Uchiha compound but only one had come out and he
also knew that when that one came out she immediately sent him home for what he
was sure were reinforcements. Had Neji been injured or killed?
�Orochimaru� the man that had come to meet them at
the airport called.
�I need to get to the master immediately. I have a
return flight in three hours.� Orochimaru spoke in English.
The man nodded to Orochimaru and Tenten and turned
leading them to the car that would take them to see the master.
In what seemed to Orochimaru like seconds they were
kneeling outside the sliding paper door waiting for The Hyuuga�s response to
the letter that the driver personally handed to the master. Apparently
Orochimaru snorted times were dangerous and no one was allowed in the presence
of the Hyuuga lord unless they were one of the trusted few.
I wonder
what honor less thing he did this time to put the other families on the
offensive again, Orochimaru mused. Everyone knows that he is a bastard with no honor yet no one makes
the move to bring the true head of this family home.
After what seemed like an hour of kneeling the door
opened and the same man that had brought the two of them to the house backed
out and closed the door. Standing he nodded to Tenten and Orochimaru and they
followed him out of the house and back to the car that would take the two of
them to the airport. When they got into the car the man handed Orochimaru a
sealed envelope with the seal of the Hyuuga clan, no words were spoken.
They arrived at the airport just in time to board
the plane to return to America. Just as
Tenten turned to walk to the terminal Orochimaru heard the voice he wished he
could forget.
�Hey there snake tongue� was yelled from behind him
as his back was pounded in greeting. �I didn�t think that you would make it
here in time.�
Orochimaru felt his stomach drop to the floor. Lee
and Guy would not only be coming home with them, they were going to be on the
same flight.
�Cut my throat, please� Orochimaru said earnestly
to Tenten.
Tenten who had not spoken in weeks just shook her
head and turned to walk away,
If she
sent for them then there is a rift between Hinata and Neji Tenten
thought and I would like to know just
what the hell is going on here that she would come home and Neji is with the
Uchiha and now Hinata has sent for her own men instead of Neji�s man Garra. If
Neji were in trouble the first move should be to call in the sandman.
�You know� Orochimaru whispered to Tenten when they
were settled on the plane as far from Lee and Guy as they could get in the
first class section of the plane. �I never thought I would see the day that the
two of them would not stand together, I wonder what he did.�
Tenten who had not spoken from the time she
recovered from Neji�s tender care looked Orochimaru in the eyes and shook her
head.
�This is a war that she is starting.� Tenten said.
�No matter what Hinata does, even if she were to stab him in the heart Neji
would not raise a hand against her. She has always been his only care.�
�Then she will be his destruction� Orochimaru said.
�Tabun� Tenten said softly her eyes sliding closed.
Or this will be the end of her, she
added to herself.

Sasuke woke the moment Neji began trembling in his
sleep. Pulling his young lover close Sasuke stroked Neji�s back and murmured
words of comfort until Neji�s quick shallow breaths deepened and evened out.
�I will kill him for you my beautiful one.� Sasuke
said holding Neji close pushing his nose into Neji�s hair. �I will let you
torture him for hours before he dies and he will know that it is your wrath
that is his death. On my life I promise you this.�
Neji�s fear woke Naruto as well and the sound of
Sasuke�s earnest promise warmed him. Now that Naruto knew how young Neji was
there was a part of him that more than anything wanted to shelter and protect
Neji.
�We have to get him, soon� Naruto whispered pulling
Sasuke and Neji closer to him.
�He is more fretful tonight than he was last night�
Sasuke said, �I don�t know why�
�He slept between us last night� Naruto said. �And
remember that he said that he only sleeps a few hours at a time.�
�I know but that is not acceptable.� Sasuke growled
clutching Neji tighter.
Naruto got out of the bed and sliding in on the
other side of Neji he turned to face Sasuke.
�He is so beautiful and so broken� Naruto said
softly. �More than me because they used his love and the love of his father to
break him.�
�I know� Sasuke muttered, wondering what his own
mental state would be if his brother had attacked him as a child. How would it
feel for the last memory you have of the one person you trusted and loved more
than yourself to be� horrific?
Naruto leaned in closer to Neji and inhaled deeply.
�His hair smells so good.� Naruto said dreamily to Sasuke. �How is it that he
still smells the same and he used the shampoo that we had here?�
�I noticed that too� Sasuke said closing his eyes.
�I think he is like an angel or something and he
just naturally smells good.� Naruto said yawning.
�You�re an idiot� Sasuke grunted.
�And you�re a bastard� Naruto said and after a
moment he laughed.
�I don�t want to know.� Sasuke said when Naruto
opened his mouth to explain his laughter.
�It�s like we��
�I really really don�t want to know.� Sasuke cut
him off again. �It will be too stupid to stand, I can already tell.�
�Three stooges, we�re like the three stooges we
sleep together like them and everything.� Naruto said laughing at the thought.
�Yeah but Moe wasn�t fucking Larry and Curley.�
Sasuke said.
�How do we know that? They all slept in the bed
together.� Naruto pouted �It could just be that they never showed it. And all
that hitting they did was just love taps.� Naruto explained. �I mean think
about it at their age what straight man will sleep cuddled up in bed with
another man every night. And on top of that look at the way they carried
themselves.�
�Even if the stooges were a love threesome we can�t
be them.� Sasuke said firmly.
�Yeah we are like them� Naruto insisted. �Bastard
Beautiful��
�And Baka better known as Idiot here in the states�
Sasuke said rolling his eyes.
�Whatever, but we are like them because all three
of us are a mess just like them.� Naruto said and snuggled into Neji�s side.
�We can�t be stooges Naruto, because only one of us
is an idiot.� Neji said startling Sasuke and Naruto both.
�I�m not an idiot.� Naruto said when his heart
stopped racing. �What did I do to make you start calling me an idiot Neji? I
have been really nice to you.�
�And that in itself was foolish before it was
assured that I would be willing to become a part of the bastard�s family.�
�Lets just go back to sleep� Sasuke said gruffly a
little upset that he had not noticed when Neji woke. �I won�t try to sneak up
on you Neji.� Sasuke muttered.
Neji chuckled �Truce�
�How long?� Sasuke asked.
�Long enough to confirm that Naruto is an idiot.�
Neji said then looked over at the insulted blonde. �Is it the hair, are natural
blondes really slow, or is it just the pretty ones?�
�I am not an idiot� Naruto ground out in a huff.
�And I am not an angel� Neji said pointedly.
�You know some people would take that as a
compliment.� Naruto said and turned his back on Neji.
Neji reached out putting his arm around Naruto�s
waist he pulled the smaller man against him and nuzzled into Naruto�s neck.
Inhaling deeply of Naruto�s scent Neji said softly �And what makes you think I
didn�t?�
Naruto grunted in reply.
�If there were such thing as angels, which I don�t
believe then out of the three of us it would be you.� Neji said seriously, �But
the goodness inside you does not change the fact that you are an idiot, as a
matter of fact I think it is the purity in you that makes you blind to a lot of
things and therefore contributes to your idiocy.�
�I don�t��
�I agree� Sasuke said cutting Naruto short. �It is
like he lives in this pure little world blind to the world that we live in no
matter what happens to him. It is like a purity idiocy bubble he lives in.�
�Hey!�
�No matter what happens to him he is unable to see
the world for what it is and he refuses to see the evil in the things that are
done to him, but because he is so pure and kind and unaffected by life he has
compassion sympathy and empathy for those around him.� Neji said.
�There is nothing wrong with that� Naruto
protested.
�It will get you killed� Neji and Sasuke said
together.
�And now that we are all linked,� Neji said softly
looking Naruto in the eyes.
�It won�t� Sasuke said before Neji finished. �It
will humanize us.�
�You think it will save us?� Neji asked.
�It has already saved me� Sasuke said. �Now we need
to sleep, all of us� He added looking Neji in the eyes when he said the last.
�Tomorrow we have to go to the Hyuuga house and you both need to meet the
staff. Also Rock Lee and Guy should be here sometime late tomorrow night and I
want everything to be prepared by the time they get here.�
�I will make arrangements for security.� Neji said.
�My people are here from Japan.� Sasuke
said evenly, �They have been given tasks.�
�That is all well and good.� Neji said evenly
arrogance dripping from his words. �I will assign Naruto a guard tomorrow.�
�Neji� Sasuke growled.
�It is decided� Neji said firmly finality in his
cool voice.
�I don�t need a guard� Naruto said softly. �It�s
not fair that I should have to have a guard and the two of you won�t�
�We are in our element and you are not.� Neji
explained. �And if Sasuke is correct in his thinking that Hinata is going to
try to do me harm then she will come after you. In your time with her over
these last weeks she has gotten to know you and she would see you as the weak
link in the Uchiha chain. Also she would see you as the reason that I am here
in the first place. So I would think that she would send her men after you. And
though they may not be able to get to you here you would not want to stay here
on the grounds at all times. So I am going to have my very best and most
special friend come and stay with you until the time that all of this is over.
When he is with you there will be no limits on where you can go and what you
can do.�
�Neji�� Sasuke whispered shuddering. �Are you?�
�Yes, tomorrow I am going to call in the sandman.�
�The sandman� Naruto laughed. �What does he do put
people to sleep?�
�Yes� Sasuke and Neji answered at the same time
though Sasuke�s voice was little more than a whisper.
�Will he be safe with him?�
�Do you think that anyone could get past him?� Neji
asked.
�No� Sasuke answered.
�To date no one has survived him� Neji said
proudly.
�That�s what worries me.� Sasuke said.
�He is the only person that I call friend in this
world.� Neji huffed, �He almost died for me many times and there is nothing I
can think of that I would not do for him. He is loyalty incarnate.�
�Funny I always thought that he was death
incarnate� Sasuke said sarcastically. �Is there anyone that has lived past
meeting him?�
�You did� Neji said. �And for that he respects
you.�
�We never got serious� Sasuke said.
�Hey guys� Naruto called. �I don�t want to talk any
more, let�s go to sleep.�
Sasuke and Neji looked at Naruto for a moment and
then decided that they would not protest. After a few minutes of shifting and
grunting each of the men found a comfortable position and soon once again they
were drifting off to sleep.
Naruto smiled as he drifted off to sleep, for me to be the idiot it is damn easy to
get them to do what I say.
Just as sleep threatened to overtake them Sasuke
and Neji realized something. They both seemed to obey Naruto�s commands even
when it was something they didn�t want to do.
How the
hell did he end up being the boss of me? They both wondered as they went
to sleep.
A soft whimper woke Neji. The sound was so soft
that until he felt the soft trembling in the body that had moved a few inches
away Neji thought that the sound was imagined.
Naruto was having a nightmare. The fear unlike the
physical reactions the blonde�s body kept under control was rolling off him in
waves. Reaching out Neji drew Naruto in and much like he had when he was a
small child and could not control his gifts Neji let himself be washed away in
Naruto�s fear and with it his nightmare.
He was in a cold dark smelly alley and suddenly he
was surrounded. Hate filled voices taunted him telling him that he should go
ahead and die. Though the voices were familiar there were no faces to accompany
them, there was only shadowed bodies pressing in and the deep fear of falling
to the ground. He knew in his heart that if he fell to the ground they would
beat him to death and though there was no fear of death there was fear of the
pain. Pain was such a familiar thing and being the only fear that lived here it
was overpowering and all encompassing.
Naruto�s fear made breathing hard Neji was like a
shadow in Naruto�s mind undetected by the blonde, a silent unseen observer.
Neji knew instantly where he was and what was happening. Feeling Naruto�s fear
spike with the memory of pain and the knowledge that pain was set for a speedy
return Neji felt Naruto steel himself against what he could not prevent.
They are
about to hit him in the face with the lights, Neji realized.
Exerting his will in Naruto�s mind by absorbing
Naruto�s fear into himself Neji wrapped his arms around Naruto and turned them
so that it would be his back that received the blow. Because it was Naruto�s
fear Naruto�s memory and not Neji�s own the nightmare began to fade.
�You are not alone� Neji whispered to Naruto as the
dark alley dissolved. �They can not hurt you as they once did.�
Shivering Naruto settled into Neji�s embrace. For
the first time Naruto did not wake in a cold sweat after dreaming of his past.
Naruto woke with a smile and turned to look at Neji who lay with his eyes
closed seeming asleep. Neji�s arms were wrapped around Naruto and the young man
held the blonde close as he slept.
�I don�t care what you believe in or what you
think.� Naruto whispered, �You are an angel.�
Looking at the clock Naruto saw that it was a
little after 6 in the morning. The staff would be in and he could sneak down to
the kitchen and get some ramen before the others woke. This was starting out to
be a good day indeed.
When Naruto left the room Neji shifted to his back
and sighed deeply. Naruto had been through a lot in his life, as had Neji and
Neji knew that Sasuke had a painful past as well. Why else would he have
assumed his brother�s identity?
After a few minutes of lying beside the man that
had decided to take him in Neji turned to get out of the bed. The arm lazily
thrown across his waist pulling him back startled a yelp out of Neji.
�I thought you knew that I was awake.� Sasuke said
groggily.
�How was I supposed to know you were awake, you
didn�t say anything or move?� Neji growled annoyed trying to pull his back away
from the warmth of Sasuke�s chest only succeeding in conforming himself more securely
to the Uchiha�s body. �Let me go Bastard it is too early in the morning for
this shit.�
�You are not allowed to get out of bed yet.� Sasuke
nuzzled the hair beside Neji�s ear.
�Ok we need to get this straight.� Neji huffed.
�You cannot tell me what to do. I get out of bed when I am good and damn
ready.� Pulling himself free of Sasuke Neji moved to get out of bed.
�You won�t let me hold you for a while?� Sasuke
asked softly halting Neji�s movement. �Is there a problem with me lying beside
you? Do you fear or loath my touch?�
�That is unfair and you know it bastard.� Neji said
looking over his shoulder at Sasuke.
�Come� Sasuke raised his arm for Neji to lie
against him.
�Damn it� Neji cursed as he returned to Sasuke,
letting the taller man spoon him. �You want something� Neji said prompting
Sasuke to speak.
�I was just wondering how you were feeling today.�
Sasuke said in a husky voice holding Neji by the waist he ground into Neji, the
slight wince told him that Neji was tender. �I see that you are really bruised
I wanted to make sure that I did not hurt you. I don�t want you to have any
more bad memories associated with sex, especially with me involved.�
Neji could feel his face burning. �No I�m fine� he
whispered.
Sasuke hummed and used his grip on Neji�s wait to
roll the younger man onto his stomach and quickly Sasuke was straddling Neji�s
upper thigh.
�I am going to need to check you beautiful� Sasuke
said leaning down to whisper in Neji�s ear. �I would rather do it in the
shower, but we can do it here if you want.�
�I said I�m fine� Neji�s blush deepened. �Get off
me� Neji�s voice was a furious whisper.
�Good� Sasuke smiled rising off Neji and quickly
getting out of the bed he reached out and pulled Neji behind him. �Shower it is
then.� Sasuke said as he dragged Neji sputtering in embarrassment behind him.
When they walked into the master bath Sasuke turned
Neji to the shower stall pushed him in and turned on the water. The thermostat
on the shower stall water tank was set for Sasuke�s comfort so there was no
need to adjust the water in any way.
�Damn it bastard I still have on my pajamas.� Neji
sputtered as the water jets soaked him and Sasuke instantly.
Sasuke flicked a switch and light flooded the
shower.
�Be quiet� Sasuke said voice heavy. Reaching out
Sasuke pulled the string on Neji�s pants and efficiently undressed him, then
turned Neji to face the shower wall. Trailing his hands down Neji�s arms Sasuke
lifted Neji�s hands to brace him against the wall and pulled his hips so that
Neji�s ass was presented to him.
�You have so many bruises� Sasuke said the hint of
anger in his voice. �I don�t like that you look like you�ve been abused.�
Neji could not respond to Sasuke�s words because
warm strong hands were exploring his most private areas. Sasuke�s fingers
traced Neji�s hole and slowly gently one entered him. Neji could not stop the
gasp moan that escaped his lips or the trembling that instantly followed the
gentle exploration.
�Sasuke please� Neji whispered leaning his head
against the shower wall.
At Neji�s soft plea Sasuke removed his finger.
There seemed to be a little swelling inside Neji but nothing that should make
him worry, but looking at his young lovers body Sasuke made note to be more
gentle, of course one as beautiful as Neji would be delicate.
Neji�s whimper drew Sasuke�s attention.
�Are you hurt?� Sasuke asked turning the flushed
man to face him. �Did I hurt you?� Heavily lidded eyes gazed up at Sasuke.
�Neji, are you ok? Are you hurting beautiful? Tell me where it hurts.�
�I�m not hurt� Neji whispered leaning in to Sasuke,
�But aren�t you going to�� Neji blushed letting his words trail off.
Sasuke smiled, �I don�t think that would be a smart
thing to do right now. I want to be sure that you are ok before we do anything
else.�
�Damn it� Neji stomped his foot prettily. �I am not
fragile and I am not a baby.� Turning to leave the shower he hissed �You guys
make me sick.�
Neji was surprised at himself all these years there
was a part of him that could not seal the
deal as they called it when it came to sex and now after only one time,
well two technically, his body was craving it.
�Ok Neji� Sasuke said grabbing Neji�s arm tightly
he pulled the young man back and pressed him against the shower wall. �You
wanna play with the big boys? OK�
Pressing another button on the console in the
shower the jets began a pulsing spray and Sasuke leaned into Neji pulling an
ear between his teeth.
�From this moment the only words I want to hear are
you begging me or you calling my name as you cum.� Sasuke growled as he
released Neji�s ear.
�I won�t beg you bastard.� Neji shuddered as the
hot pulsing water and Sasuke�s hands cascaded over his body.
�We�ll see� Sasuke smirked. �Oh and water and lube
are not the same thing.�
�What?� Neji asked trying to force his mind to
function through the haze.
Sasuke had Neji pressed against the wall of the
shower between the jets. Dragging his teeth across Neji�s shoulder as he
stroked Neji�s throbbing erection had Neji panting and whimpering Sasuke�s
name.
�I said that water and lube are not the same
thing.� Sasuke said using his knee to open Neji�s legs Sasuke lifted Neji and
wrapped the slender man�s legs around his waist.
With his legs wrapped around Sasuke�s waist Neji
sought Sasuke�s lips. Sasuke grabbed a handful of Neji�s wet hair and roughly
pulled Neji�s head back exposing the slender pale neck that wore Sasuke�s
fingerprints in bruises.
�Neji,� Sasuke growled as Neji reached down to grab
his and Sasuke�s erections.
�I was thinking that you could teach me some
things.� Neji winced as Sasuke�s grip tightened in his hair.
�I am going to teach you some things.� Sasuke
panted as he let Neji�s legs slide to the floor. Leaning down Sasuke caught
Neji�s left nipple between his teeth and began to suckle. �I want to wait to
make sure that you would be able to function today but this is good too. This
way you will stay at the house while I go to the Hyuuga compound and get your
things.�
Neji tensed pulling away from Sasuke.
Smirking Sasuke completely released Neji and
freeing his aching member from Neji�s grasp he turned Neji to the shower wall
and forcefully pushed Neji against the wall. Sasuke moaned letting his wet
member slide between Neji�s cheeks relishing Neji�s hiss and flinch in reaction
to Sasuke�s hard flesh pushing against his tender hole. Neji trembled.
Sasuke pushed Neji�s hair out of the way and after
kissing Neji on the color bone bit deeply into the flesh.
�AAAAhhhhhhhhhh� Neji screamed. �That hurt!�
Sasuke�s body pinned Neji to the wall.
�I know that you are not a child.� Sasuke growled
fighting not to take Neji. Reveling in the feeling of the Neji trembling
against him pinned helpless against the wall. �But you are,� Sasuke hissed
biting Neji�s ear �My�� Sasuke chuckled �baby.
You are mine to take care of mine to love and mine to protect.� Sasuke pulled Neji into his arms gently. �I want
you so bad right now that it is frustrating because I know that you are not
ready. Your body is still tender and I don�t have it in me at the moment to be
gentle with you.�
�Let me go� Neji said in a calm even voice.
�I will not abuse you Neji.� Sasuke said cupping
Neji against him. �I want to hold you I want you to want me I want all the same
things that you want but you have to let go of the I am not a child complex
that you�re carrying on your shoulders. Do you want to protect Naruto because
he is weak?�
Sasuke turned Neji to face him and cupping Neji�s
head Sasuke looked into Neji�s eyes.
�You bit me� Neji whined to his distress like a
child. �You didn�t have to bit me. You could have just said no.� Neji�s cheeks
were beet red.
�I don�t ever want to reject you, for one and for
two I didn�t want to say no. I bit you to help me get control of myself.�
Sasuke sighed reaching over to get the soap and began washing Neji�s body.
�Fine� Neji pouted as Sasuke bathed him. �But I�m
telling Naruto that you bit me.�
Sasuke�s startled intake of breath and laugh forced
Neji to smile.
�We need to get to the house early.� Neji said. �If
I know Hinata she will sleep late today because she is worried about how you
are going to react.�
�What about you?�
�She knows that there is nothing that she could do
that would make me turn against her. I love Hinata.�
�Well then she is sunk because I don�t love her.�
Sasuke muttered as Neji lathered his chest. �But I think I am falling in love
with you.�
Neji froze
�Don�t worry� Sasuke smirked. �I won�t tell
anyone.�
�You�d better not.� Neji said in a low voice, �all
your enemies would come after me if they found out we loved each other.�
Sasuke grunted as he finished bathing Neji and they
stepped from the shower. Looking at the bruises on Neji�s body made Sasuke
cautious, but he had to admit that there was a part of him, a large part that
liked seeing his claim written on Neji�s pale flesh.
That is my
proof that Neji is mine, Sasuke smirked as he got dressed.
�Where is Naruto?� Neji said as he pulled on the
borrowed socks Sasuke handed him.
�Most likely he is in the kitchen getting some
ramen before breakfast.� Sasuke smiled. �He is like a little kid with candy when
it comes to that nasty stuff. He wants it all the time and I won�t allow him to
have it for breakfast, so he gets up early to have some as a morning snack.�
�Bastard� Neji grunted looking for his shoes. �If
he likes it so much you can�t keep him from buying it.�
�Naruto doesn�t have money of his own.� Sasuke said
sobering. �He was an orphan that was abandoned by everyone at a young age. What
makes you think he has any money?�
�I didn�t think about it at all.� Neji said softly.
�Money has never been an issue for me and I know that you have plenty of it so
I just thought that he did as well.� Neji sighed. �I mean you�ve had him
working for you for over a month so at the very least he has his pay.�
�I don�t pay him� Sasuke said realizing that he had
never even thought to offer Naruto pay for working with him.
�And I called him the idiot.� Neji shook his head
as he walked from the room. �You know if you wanted him to have some self worth
you could have given him an income so that he would not be dependant on you.�
Sasuke realized that Neji was right. Naruto had
told Sasuke that he did not want him for his money and in spite of that Sasuke
had every intention of setting the blonde up with accounts of his own just in
case something happened to Sasuke Naruto would not be left out in the cold but
that did not change the fact that Naruto needed money of his own. Unlike Neji
who had just as much if not more money than the Uchiha Naruto was financially
dependant on Sasuke for his livelihood, because no matter what happened Sasuke
would not accept Naruto returning to his prior living conditions.

Neji found Naruto in the dining room waiting for
Neji and Sasuke so that they could all have breakfast. Naruto was dressed in
jeans and an orange t-shirt.
�Hey there Beautiful� Naruto smiled. �I want to
introduce you to the new people here in the house. I know that you have met
Iruka before but there is another guy here named Kakashi and there is Shino and
Ino and Shikamaru they came here last night from Japan. Isn�t
that neat?�
With just a glance Neji knew that the five people
sitting at the table with the blonde were Sasuke�s personal staff. Neji was
stunned that there were five he himself only had one person, though it was said
that one person was a thousand killer demons wrapped into one.
Neji nodded to the people at the table and took a
seat at the head. Coolly inspecting them as he settled into his seat and told
that serving girl that stood by what he wanted for breakfast.
�They were
dressed as normal people all of them in casual comfortable clothes the men wore
loose slacks of varying colors with t- shirts the woman wore jeans and a button
front shirt. They were average people nothing like the Asian assassins that you
would see on some television show. There was nothing about any of them that
would tell you they were killers. If an untrained person were to look them in
the eye they would still not know that the five people at the table had killed
repeatedly, and the woman seemed to be the most dangerous one in the group. The
men�s looks varied from bored to uninterested to sleepy to expectant, but the
woman though she looked uninterested seemed a little off.
No there were no black leather outfits and only one
of the men had sunglasses and they were not the sleek kind that they showed on
the movies they looked like they were prescription glasses with tint. There
were no swords in sheaths across their backs and no large imposing guns. No,
Neji thought, this is the real thing here and it is much more frightening than
television because it is harder to spot and more painful to encounter.
Sasuke joined them a few minutes later. Neji noted
his entrance as he watched Naruto talk excitedly to the killers that shared a
table with him. Several times he saw them exchange looks with Iruka, who had
known the blonde the longest as Naruto smiled and told them about himself and
the time that he had spent with �the
bastard�.
�Hey bastard why didn�t you tell me that your
friends were here from Japan?� Naruto
asked when Sasuke settled in at the table beside Neji.
�I told you last night� Sasuke said not looking up
from his plate.
�I don�t remember that, do you Neji?� Naruto said
looking confused.
�Yes�
�Oh I guess I forgot then� Naruto smiled and looked
back to his new friends. �Why aren�t they staying in the house? They�re friends
right. Haven�t you known them for years? You should treat them better.� and
with that Naruto began to rattle instructions on how his new friends should be
treated.
�Atarashi tomodachi desu ka?� Ino asked looking at
Iruka.
�English only on American soil� Kakashi said
smiling at Naruto.
�I wish I spoke Japanese� Naruto said wistfully.
�It sounds so cool.�
Everyone at the table looked at Neji and Sasuke
sitting at the other end of the table sitting beside each other Neji at the
head of the table Sasuke to his right. The dark haired pale beauties seemed not
to notice the blonde and answered or responded to his questions or comments as
if the things he said were normal.
�Hey, we need to let them make a list of the things
that they want so we can make them more comfortable while they�re here.� Naruto
said nodding his head vigorously.
�That�s fine� Neji and Sasuke said absently.
Shino Shikamaru Kakashi and Ino were shocked by
both Neji and Sasuke�s response to the blonde. They had known Sasuke all their
lives and they knew well of Neji. Who were these people sitting at this table
catering to the ignorant happy blonde like he was a friendly child?
�Oi sono futari wa, dare desu ka?� Shikamaru asked
�Wakarimasen� Kakashi
answered in Japanese breaking his own rule.
�English� Neji said sharply not looking up from his
newspaper.
�Hey Neji, what are we doing today.� Naruto asked
as he ate his food enthusiastically.
�Don�t talk with food in your mouth.� Neji said
without looking at the blonde. �I think that after we have gone to the house to
check on Hinata you and I are going to run some errands.� Neji looked at Naruto
with cool eyes. �You won�t mind working as my assistant as well as Sasuke�s
will you?� Neji asked.
�Really� Naruto asked happily. �I get to work with
you too?�
�It is done then� Neji said and stood. �There
should be a car here in a moment, make sure that you are ready. While we are in
public you must discipline yourself. I have an image and it must be upheld at
all times. You will call me nothing but Neji when we are in public and there
will be no physical contact for any reason.�
�Yes Neji� Naruto tried to sound serious but
everyone could see the excitement in his eyes.
�Bring your ID with you.� Neji said.
�Ok� Naruto jumped up from the table to prepare to
leave.
�What are you up to?� Sasuke asked as he clicked
away on his computer.
�I will take him around with me today so that you
can have some freedom, and so that he will get to spend time with Garra.�
�Garra� everyone at the table except Sasuke
whispered.
�He will be our driver today, and if you plan on
keeping me here then my friend will have to stay at the Uchiha compound as
well.� Neji said and turned to leave the room. �Oh and while I�m at it I want
to set Naruto up with his own accounts, if there is anything that you want to
contribute when we are finished at the bank I will call you and give you his
information so that you can transfer funds.�
By that time Naruto had returned to the room ready
to leave and there was a buzzing signaling Neji had an incoming call.
�Garra is here so that means that it is time for
the two of us to leave Naruto.� Neji nodded to the Uchiha and left the house
with Naruto chattering excitedly as he followed him.
�So let me get this straight.� Ino said in a slow
voice, �The Sandman is going to stay here while we are here and this is ok?�
�Garra is Neji�s man� Sasuke said tiredly �And
maybe it would make the job a little easier to have him on our side on this
one.�
�On our side,� Shikamaru said in a lazy voice, �he
is Neji�s man and Neji is yours so that means that you are saying that Garra is
now your man?�
�Something like that� Sasuke said in a tired
breath. �I don�t want Neji to see Hinata ever again is there any way that we
can take care of this thing at the Hyuuga compound before he can get there?�
�Well if it was me and I wanted Neji out of the way
for a few hours and if technically Neji is yours then why don�t you just tell
him that he is not allowed to go to the compound?� Iruka asked in a sly voice.
�Don�t play dumb old man� Ino snorted �we all know
that Sasuke can not order Neji not to go there hell he couldn�t order us not to
go there if we really wanted to.� Looking Sasuke in the eye Ino said. �All you
have to do is tell Naruto that you don�t want Neji to go there because you
think that Hinata will hurt Neji in some way and Naruto will keep Neji busy
until we are done.�
Sasuke smiled. He had not even thought to bring the
idiot in on the plan. That was an issue that he needed to work on if the
situation were reversed and it was something done for Naruto�s safety Sasuke
would tell Neji. Sasuke realized that he was being unfair to the blonde.
�You are not being unfair to Naruto� Ino said in a
cool voice reading Sasuke�s thoughts. �He is not from the same world as you and
Neji is it makes sense to tell Neji things that you would not tell Naruto. The
only reason I suggest pulling the little guy in on this one is that it seems
that he has the two of you wrapped around his finger, I mean the both of you do
whatever he tells you to.�
Shikamaru and Shino laughed out loud Iruka and
Kakashi just looked at Ino as if she had revealed some great secret.
�What� Ino asked looking at the older men. �I hope
no one thought that was a secret, because it wasn�t.� Biting her bottom lip in
a manner Sasuke had not seen in over a decade Ino said softly �There is
something about him that makes you want to see his smile, like you want to be
the person he sees when he looks at you.� Ino looked Sasuke in the eye and
spoke. �You� you aren�t going to hurt him are you?�
Sasuke looked at Ino and smiled for the first time
since he had rapped her all those years ago there was a look in her eyes that
was fragile and timid, and in some way more whole than he had seen in years. �I
love him, and I hope that if something happens to me you all will take care of
him.�
�We will make sure that no harm comes to him if we
live.� Ino said. �And we will protect Neji as we would you.�
�I guess we should call the little idiot then�
Sasuke smiled, and this smile was filled with mischief. �And sick him on Neji.�
When Naruto slid into the cavernous back seat of
the car that waited for them in front of the house he was so excitedly talking
to Neji that he did not notice the side seat or the body that sat in it for a
few moments, but when he did his excitement hit an all new level.
�Neji!� Naruto shrieked happily, �Thank you so
much, it is beautiful is it for me? It is for me isn�t it?�
Naruto reached out and grabbed for the pale red
headed doll on the side seat hugging it close to him. �I love it!�
�Get your hands off of me before I kill you.� Garra
said softly.
Naruto gasped holding the doll or rather what he
thought was a doll close to his chest. �It seems so real, but I think that we
should change the voice, I mean really why is it threatening me?�
Naruto,� Neji said in a calm voice wondering what
the hell the blonde was thinking and why Garra had not forced the blonde to
release him. �You are hugging a man that you have never met before and you are
talking like a crazy person.� Pinching the bridge of his nose Neji asked the
blonde. �What do you think is going on here?�
�Man�� Naruto leaned back still not releasing the
form that he clutched to his chest. �I thought� are you trying to tell me that
this is�damn it� Naruto sat back in the corner of the car and pouted muttering
under his breath. Suddenly Naruto shouted to no one in particular. �I am not an
idiot.�
�Garra� Neji said to the silent man that watched
the blonde with interest, the first emotion that Neji had seen in Garra in
years. �This is Naruto, I would like for you to protect him while you are
here.� Looking at the blonde pouting in the corner Neji snorted, �As you can
see he is a very special boy.�
�Why did he touch me?� Garra asked Neji not taking
his eyes off the blonde. �And what happened to you why does it hurt you to sit
and to move?�
Naruto�s gasp only helped to darken the blush that
was forming on Neji�s pale cheeks.
�You�re hurt� Naruto said moving closer to Neji.
�Tell me, are you hurting right now?�
�I�m fine Naruto� Neji said dismissively. �Now why
did you hug Garra when you got into the car, what did you think was going on?�
�Nothing, it is not important� Naruto said blushing
himself.
�I think that you at least owe Garra an explanation.�
Neji said happy that the conversation had easily been turned from him. Garra
though unlike the blonde would not forget.
�Well� Naruto said looking into the eyes on the man
across from him. �I thought he was a gift for me.� Naruto
began to twiddle his thumbs. �I thought he was one of those life sized dolls
that they make to look like people. I mean his eyes are such a color and he was
sitting so still. He didn�t look like he was alive. I though he was a doll.�
�You thought I was a doll so you hugged me/� Garra
said looking confused. �Why?�
�Because I was happy you were perfect and I thought
you were mine something special that someone got for me as a gift just
because.� Naruto sighed. �But I should have known better�
�Naruto�� just as Neji was about to speak the car
stopped in front of the Hyuuga compound. The same manservant that had let
Sasuke into the house waited to open the door for Neji, knowing Garra�s car on
site the man knew that the master of the house was home.
When the door opened Naruto noticed that there was
a man and a woman that stood just behind Garra when he got out of the car there
was something about them that made Naruto shy away from them hiding somewhat
behind Neji. Naruto reached his hand out to beckon Garra closer so he could whisper
in his ear as they walked to the house.
�You should stay away from them� Naruto said
nodding to the man and woman that walked just ahead of them into the open door
of the house. �They give me a funny vibe. I don�t think that they are safe for
you to be around.�
Garra was so shocked by what the blonde had said to
him he almost tripped into the house. Neji looked at him in shock as it took
Garra a moment to regain his stoic composure.
�Where is Hinata?� Neji asked
�She is in the parlor sir I think that she is
waiting to have a talk with you.� The manservant said.
�Wait for me here� Neji said to everyone in the
room and went to face his cousin.
When he walked into the Parlor Hinata was sitting
behind his desk working on his computer. She had the passwords to all his
accounts as well as access to all of his files but she had never in the past
used any of the permissions that she had. True there were accounts that he had
that she was not aware of but not because he did not trust her, it was just a
precaution. The site of her working on his computer did however give him pause.
�I didn�t think that you would come back here�
Hinata said in place of greeting. �I am just about to transfer all of your
funds into my accounts.�
�Why would you do that?� Neji asked. �I was not
injured in any way when you last saw me and we were under vouchsafe when you
left the house.�
�What happened to you?� Hinata asked and when she
asked the veins around her eyes pulsed, Neji stood in the middle of the room
and let her read as deeply into his private thoughts as she could, he held nothing back from her.
�So I was right, you have become the Uchiha�s
bottom boy toy?� Hinata said coldly rising from her chair. �You are his butt
slut now, you gave yourself to him like some common whore and now you think
that you can just abandon me, and our family.�
�Hinata,� Neji began but her tirade was just
beginning.
�Should I have just stayed in that closet that
night?� She asked him as she circled closer. Her anger at being cast aside,
after all those years that she had put into making him whole he would dare to
leave her. �If I had known that you were just going to become some man�s
plaything I would have let my father have you that night.� Hinata spat reaching
out she pulled the collar of the shirt he wore a shirt that she had seen on the
Uchiha in the past. Her harsh pull on the shirt exposed the bruises on his neck
and the bite mark.
�Well this is it, this proves that you are nothing
but a little pain whore, look at yourself wearing his clothes and his stench. I
should send you to father and let him deal with you, you��
The slap that brought Hinata to her knees shocked
the room into motion. The tan hand that had lashed out with such force and
anger that Hinata could only sit on the floor of the parlor of her own house in
a rage closed in a fist at Naruto�s side.
When Hinata looked into the blue eyes that she had
seen as innocent and foolish she gasped, the fury she saw when she looked into
those eyes gave her pause.
�Garra� Naruto called
�I am here� Garra said from behind him.
�Take Neji to the Uchiha, right now.� Naruto kept
his back to Neji because he knew what Hinata saw in his eyes and he did not
want Neji to see it. �I don�t care what he says take him now. And tell the
other two that came with us to come here.�
�We are here� the two said as one.
�Get the manservant to take you around this house
and get all of Neji�s clothes and any other personal belongings that he would
need if he were moving house. Also this computer is his as well I want that
loaded into the car right now.� Naruto spoke with his back to the room eyes
only for Hinata, who had not moved from her place on the floor.
�You don�t understand Naruto, this is �� Neji tried
to explain but Naruto cut him off.
�Garra why is he still here?�
�I am to protect you� Garra said, �I will take him
to the Uchiha and I will return in ten minutes no more do not leave this house
before I return.�
�I wont� Naruto said, �That is all the time that
you have to gather his things.�
In seconds the room was emptied Naruto heard Neji
protest but Garra said something and then there was no other sound in the room.
�Stand up so we can talk� Naruto said breathing
deeply, he closed his eyes and when he opened them again he looked like his
normal self, but Hinata would not forget the rage she had seen in those eyes.
�I don�t have a lot of time, something tells me
that it will not take Garra a full ten minutes to return and it will not take
the gruesome twosome that long to get his things.� Naruto said not moving back when
Hinata stood. �I need you to understand something. Neji is the only one that
cares about you, the Uchiha and I could care less about you. Up until this
moment I thought it would be best for us to just leave you alone, I mean for
all it is worth you stood by Neji�s side when he had no one, but what I saw
today showed me something. You have not been with him all these years out of
loyalty you stayed with him because you feel that you own him.� Naruto shook
his head and closed his eyes not having the stomach to look at the corruption
of love that Hinata had become in his mind. �You wanted him for yourself, you
lusted for him and when your father tried to rape him the only reason that you
saved him was because in some way you felt that you would get him for yourself
and now that you see he is out of your reach you would rather destroy him than
let him go.�
You think you know so much you blonde slut.� Hinata
sneered. �You don�t know anything.�
�I know lust and I know corruption.� Naruto said
sadly. �I know pain and I know all the emotions that cause people to inflict it
on others.� Naruto walked to the door without looking back he spoke to her. �If
you try to hurt him in any way, I will be the one that will make sure that you
die a painful death. If your death will make this world a safer place for him,
then die you shall.�
�You don�t have it in you Blondie to break me.�
Hinata snorted. �You�re nothing just like Neji an abused orphan that was taken
in by a powerful man. You become one of the Uchiha�s butt sluts and now you�re
so high and mighty. What is in the semen that he is feeding you that makes you
think you�re so strong?�
�Before I turned 20 I suffered more beatings than
any one person on the face of this earth should. The worst was not the one
where my face was scarred but the one I got when I was about 8 years old. I was
beaten for stealing food from the orphanage cupboards. They wouldn�t feed me
you see so I had to sneak food when and where I could. At first I ate from the
trash, because they would throw the food away rather than give it to me, they
started peeing on it, when they found out that I was eating out of the garbage.
At eight years old malnourished I was tied up and beaten over the course of
three days. The key to beating someone to death, if you really take pride in
your work is to beat them until they are on the brink of passing out, and then
stop, give them an hour or two, time for the body to mend itself just a little,
and then you begin again. That way the person that you are killing does not
become numb to the pain.� Naruto turned sad eyes to Hinata and spoke softly.
�Please don�t make me show you what I�ve been through and what I know that I am
capable of. I have lived my life without hurting others. I won�t kill to
protect me, but� it isn�t me that needs protection any more.�
With that Naruto left the room. When he stepped
through the doors he saw Garra standing there waiting for him with the man and
woman.
�Let�s go to the Uchiha� Naruto said softly.
�He is in the car outside� Ino�s voice called from
the side of the door. �We have all of Neji�s belongings in the cars and we will
take the three of you home.� Looking at Garra Ino spoke �should we��
�No� Garra shook his head looking at Naruto
curiously. �I think that we should take them about their normal day and wait
until Lee and Guy get here to deal with the rest of it.�
�Well you know this house better than we do so I
guess on this one we will follow your lead.� Shikamaru said.
Naruto left the five of them in the house talking
he saw that the car that they had arrived in as well as Sasuke�s sedan and two
other expensive looking cars were pulled up in front of the house and a third
was coming from the garages.
When Naruto got into the car with Sasuke he noticed
Neji sitting in the passenger side seat angrily.
�I guess we may as well go on that errand you
planned this morning� Sasuke said calmly. Neji only grunted in reply
The three of them pulled off and the other cars
followed them to the fork in the road that went either to town or further north
which would take them to the Uchiha�s compound.
When they arrived at the bank the branch manager
greeted Neji and Sasuke happily and though Naruto was not paying attention to
any of what was going on around him he noticed that in the hours that they were
at the bank the man�s attitude towards him got a lot nicer also. When they
finally left the bank they stopped at Neji�s offices in Bath and then
they went to pick up a few things from Sasuke�s office. By the time they
returned to the house it was well into the evening and Naruto had no idea what
they had been doing all day.
�I thought you would have been happier, or at least
more excited� Sasuke said as the three of them walked up the stairs.
�Who� Naruto asked �me�
�Yes you� Sasuke said tiredly. �This whole day was
about you.�
�About me how?� Naruto asked.
�We just set you up with your own accounts.� Sasuke
said. �When we went to the bank Neji and I both set up accounts for you with
all of our banks.� Sasuke explained as they walked into the room and Naruto
flopped down on the bed.
�Why would you do that I don�t have any money to
put into the bank.� Naruto said confused about the whole thing. �I think I have
about 65 dollars but I may not even have that.�
�Idiot� Neji grouched. �With what the bastard and I
have contributed to your accounts you have a little under three million dollars
broken up in several accounts and bonds. But I think you are at least 41%
liquid.�
�Liquid� Naruto looked confused.
�It means that you have just under a million and a
half in cash in the bank.� Sasuke said shaking his head. �And you wanted to
give him more than that.�
�How was I supposed to know that he was that slow?�
Neji asked irritated and crawled into bed fully dressed pulling the cover tight
to his shoulder.
Naruto�s stomach growled loudly, �Hey guys did we
eat anything?�
�No, are you hungry Neji� Sasuke asked reaching out
to touch the young mans shoulder but he pulled back when he saw Neji flinch.
�No�
�Hinata called him a slut and she said that she
should have let her father have his way with him if he was going to be nothing
more than some man�s booty butt slut, she also said that�� Naruto was cut off
by Sasuke�s glare.
�I wonder if they guys are back I will go and get
us something to eat.� Naruto said softly. �I�m sorry Neji I am an idiot and I
should shut the hell up.�
�Its not you Naruto� Neji said, �and Garra is here
he will take you out, you�ll be safe with him.�
�ok� Naruto looked at Sasuke he was not sure if he
should leave there was something so small and hurt in Neji�s voice and Naruto
did not want to leave him in that condition. �I think that we can just order
in. and we will lie in bed and eat and then we can sleep with the crumbs.�
�No one wants to sleep with crumbs Naruto.� Sasuke
said walking to the bath, Naruto heard the water running in the large tub and
decided that he would just ask if Garra would mind ordering them something to
eat.
�Hey bastard� Naruto called to Sasuke, �I think
that we should ask Garra if he would like to eat with us, I mean it is not like
he has any friends or family here. And I am not sure that the others will make
him feel welcome.�
�Garra has family here� Neji said looking over his
shoulder at the blonde. �The man and woman that rode with us today are his
older brother and sister. They are with him at all times.�
�Those two weirdoes are his brother and sister?�
Naruto asked shocked. �I think that maybe he would be better off if they were
to stay away from him. I mean Garra is really nice but those two�� Naruto
looked to struggle for words. �I don�t know for some reason I don�t like them I
mean I guess if they are Garra�s family then they are alright but� I don�t
know. But since I like Garra I guess I can stand them if I have to.�
A throat clearing behind him called Naruto to
Garra�s presence behind him in the room.
�I just came up to check on Neji� Garra said
looking at Naruto with curiosity. �I heard you saying that you would like
something to eat. If you tell me what you want I will get it for you or I will
take you.�
�I don�t know what I want.� Naruto said deciding
that he would not be embarrassed for calling Garra�s siblings weirdoes because
they were and nothing could be more embarrassing than thinking that a person
was a doll anyway so there was nothing to be embarrassed about with Garra. He
had reached his Garra embarrassment limit. Naruto suddenly smiled brightly at
Garra and reached out to grab the slightly taller man in a side arm hug. �I
just realized Garra.�
�And what is it that you have realized that would
make it necessary for you to touch me?� Garra asked not pulling away from the
blonde.
�I have reached my Garra embarrassment limit.�
Naruto said with a bright smile.
�Do you know what that means?� Garra asked Neji who
was looking at the blonde with a dry expression on his face.
�I think� Neji said with a sigh. �That to him it
means that there is nothing that he can do in front of you that will embarrass
him because he has already made such a fool of himself in front of you that it
just doesn�t matter anymore.�
�Right� Kind of� Naruto said �we�re friends now
anyway so there is no need for me to be embarrassed around you anyway.�
Sasuke came from the bathroom, having heard the
conversation through the open door he opted out. Walking to the bed Sasuke
knelt behind Neji placing his hand on the cover that was clinched to Neji�s
shoulder.
�Come on beautiful,� Sasuke said pulling the
blanket softly, let�s have a bath so we can go to bed.�
�Don�t baby me� Neji said in an angry voice.
�I think I will come with you to that pizza parlor�
Naruto said to Garra quickly pulling the other man out of the room. �I think
the two of them need some time. Neji has been mad all day.�
Garra looked at the Uchiha for a long moment before
he allowed the blonde to pull him out of the room and down the stairs. Through
the open door Sasuke could hear Naruto telling Garra the bastard would not hurt
Neji, but more surprising was Garra�s response of I know that.
�Neji� Sasuke said in a slow warning voice. �Get up
and come into the bath with me.� Sighing
deeply Sasuke said �Please�
� �I�� Neji
began.
�Please beautiful, let this be as easy here as
possible, it was hard enough this morning.� Sasuke said pulling the cover away
from Neji and sliding his hands under the younger man�s body. �I don�t want you
to feel as if I am forcing you into anything but I would like for the two of us
to have something of a war council before Naruto comes back.� Lifting Neji into
his arms with a sigh Sasuke added. �And I just want to make you feel better, I
want to hold you.�
Neji did not speak as Sasuke carried him into the
bathroom nor did he help or hinder as Sasuke slowly undressed him and guided
him into the hot water once Sasuke settled in beside Neji pulling the younger
man closer so that he was held in Sasuke�s arms the two of them sat in silence
in the tub for a long while.
After the long silence Neji spoke.
�I don�t know what I feel about what she said to
me. I mean I know that she is angry about the fact that I have found a place
and people that love and want to protect me with no gain in it for them, but�
the things that she said.� Neji shook his head. �I think I am in shock. I let
her read me and in the process I gleaned a little of her emotion, not on
purpose, but she was so angry and out of control that she was leaking her
emotions and thoughts out onto me.�
�You let her read you?� Sasuke stiffened. �Neji��
��She doesn�t know your secret.� Neji shook his
head, �She was only interested in seeing us together, she was driven by ��
�Neji��
Neji turned to look Sasuke in the eye. �I think
that she hates me and has for years. it was like she was not thinking of me as
a person but a thing, a possession, and I am so shocked by it that I am not
hurt or angry, I�m just in shock. Its like all these years when I thought that
there was one person on my side one person that no matter what loved me and had
my best interest at heart and now I find that I have been alone all my life.�
�Well you�re not alone now so�� Sasuke said taking
Neji�s chin into hand so that he could tilt Neji�s face up. �You have two
people that love you, and that is more than she can say, shit that is more than
a lot of people can say.�
�I guess� Neji shrugged looking Sasuke in the eyes.
�Ok now that we have that out of the way, how are
you feeling?� Sasuke asked.
�I told you I feel ok, I�m not hurt or anything
just in shock I guess.� Neji shrugged again leaning into Sasuke�s side.
�Good� Sasuke said guiding Neji�s hand under the
water. �Because I think we were having a conversation this morning that you
need to finish.
Sasuke guided Neji�s hand to his firm member and slowly
used Neji�s hand to stroke himself to life.
�And what� Neji snorted �Would you say if I told
you that I was not in the mood?�
Sasuke looked into pale eyes that were so dilated

�Hum� Neji said as he slid off the seat of the tub
to straddle Sasuke�s lap. �No more talking, there will be enough of that when
Naruto comes back.�
�Agreed� Sasuke said reaching out to take Neji into
his hand slowly Sasuke stroked Neji to life. �I don�t think that we should let
Hinata and her men live,� Sasuke said as he stroked Neji making sure that the
young man on his lap was breathless as he spoke. �I was thinking that we should
kill this Lee person before he even gets to the house to talk to Hinata. I
don�t believe in giving my enemies any time to gather forces or make plans.�
�Sasuke� Neji gasped as he felt the muscles in his
stomach begin to clench, the firm hand that stroked him moved faster. �Wait I can�t��
Neji could not stop himself from thrusting into the hand that worked him in the
hot bath water.
�I am asking you for permission to kill your
enemies.� Sasuke said his own breathing speeding up as Neji ground into his
hand face flushed lips parted. �I want your permission to protect you my
beautiful one.�
�So close� Neji moaned �Please Sasuke don�t do this
now� Neji gasped knowing that Sasuke was asking him for permission to do
something Neji was not sure of but his mind and body were at war for power at
the moment and his body was winning.

Sasuke ran his tongue up Neji�s neck pulling a delicate earlobe into his mouth.

Sasuke tilted Neji�s head back so that he could look Neji in the eye as he
stroked him to completion Sasuke spoke �I love you and will protect you with

bricks. He could not stop the tears that streamed down his face as his body

know that you are not alone in this world, not until the idiot and I are dead.�
Sasuke sighed pulling Neji to rest his head on Sasuke�s shoulder. �I know that
with Naruto it is easy to see that his feeling for you is real. And I know that
it has only been a day or two. I just want you to know that my feelings are
real also and that you are a part of me now so that means that if you need the
reassurance of reading me to know that I mean what I say to you then I am ok
with that.�
�Sasuke I don�t need that to know that you are
serious about your feelings for me.� Neji said trying to raise his head so that
he could look the older man in the eye.
Sasuke pushed Neji�s head down to his shoulder. �I
know that you went all those years with Hinata and you thought that she loved
you but you were afraid to read her because you were afraid of what you would
find. I just want you to know that there is never any reason to be afraid what
you will find with me. Even if I am angry, or sad, whatever the mood is under
the anger there will be love and devotion.�
�I know� Neji smiled snuggling in close to Sasuke�s
neck Neji felt like falling asleep right there in the tub. �I feel so safe
here. I could just go to sleep here in the tub.�
�Don�t� Sasuke said shaking Neji.
The two of them went about the process of finishing
their bath, Neji who was suddenly exhausted barely made it into the bedroom.
�Don�t go to sleep yet Neji� Sasuke said shaking
the slender shoulder that leaned into his side. �I want you to eat something
before you go to sleep.�
�Not hungry� Neji grumbled sleepily.
�If you don�t eat something I will tell Naruto that
you haven�t eaten since breakfast and I think that you have a fever.� Sasuke
threatened.
�I�m not afraid of Naruto.� Neji mumbled with his
eyes closed.
�So you say� Sasuke intoned as he watched Neji pull
the cover over his shoulder and settle in to sleep. There was a part of Sasuke
that wanted Neji to eat something, but there was another part of him that was
happy to see Neji going to sleep in the bed alone. Shaking his head Sasuke
decided that he would let Naruto decide it for them Naruto was the one that
took care of them at home anyway.
�Hey bastard we got the pizza� Naruto�s voice
called from the doorway. Garra stood beside him holding a pizza and large bag
to match the pizza and large bag Naruto held.
�I do not understand why you think we need two
pizzas.� Sasuke said as Ino Shikamaru and Shino came into the room holding
identical bags and pizza boxes.
�There are four pizzas here with salad and pasta.�
Garra said �If you can call ramen pasta that is.�
�Damn it Garra� Naruto said playfully punching
Garra in the shoulder. �I told you the ramen is for my breakfast in the
morning.�
�I do not understand why you insist on touching me
all the time.� Garra said looking at Naruto in confusion. �I am not attracted
to you.�
�WHAT� Naruto shouted? �For one, I am way hot, and
for two I am not attracted to you either. Friends touch each other, its not
like I touched you touched you I just touched you.� Naruto shook his head and
laughed as he set his bags down and helped the others set up the folding card
table that Iruka gave them. �You are weird.�
Garra looked at Naruto in confusion. �You say that
I am weird,� Garra spoke to Naruto �Just after telling me that you did not
touch me touch me you just touched me. What the hell does that even mean
Naruto?�
Sasuke looked at Garra and internally he shook his
head. Leave it to Naruto to turn an introverted killer into a new best friend.
�What I would like to know is why are all of these
pizzas and people in here.� Sasuke said looking at the group that was now
setting up folding card tables in the bedroom that he shared with Naruto and
Neji.
�We are all going to eat party picnic style and
watch some movies.� Naruto said smiling. �I just have to find a TV in this
house that we can bring in here.�
�But Naruto there is a TV in here.� Ino said
looking at the blonde man that was her height and only two inches shorter than
Garra. �The whole wall behind you is a television console.�
�Really?� Naruto looked excited. �Then pop in a
movie and let�s enjoy the night.
Sasuke looked as his staff, or were they his
friends, he wondered for a moment before he admitted that they were both,
helped his lover setup for the night. From the corner of his eye he saw that
Garra went over to check on Neji, staying by the side of the pale beauty for a
few moments and then he went to help get the tables and food out. Sasuke caught
Garra�s eye and nodded him over.
�I know that you are worried about him� Garra said
before Sasuke could speak. �I have seen him like this once before. He is in
shock, the blow dealt him by Hinata was a hard one and he is stressed out.�
�So what should I do about it?� Sasuke asked �And
how do you know?�
�I have known Neji for about 12 years we were
friends before his father died, and when he left home I followed shortly
after.� Garra informed Sasuke. �I can only suggest that you make sure that he
takes care of himself� Glancing over his shoulder at Naruto Garra hummed. �But
I don�t think that you should worry too much, that idiot that you are keeping
here will take care of both of you.�
Sasuke noted that Garra�s face was confused when he
looked at the blonde. Sasuke could understand there was something about Naruto
that fascinated and confused him as well. Considering their conversation at an
end Sasuke stepped away.
�I want you to know that thought I am not a homosexual
and do not find myself attracted to men, I have been in love with Neji from the
time that I was eight years old.� Garra�s words snapped Sasuke to attention. �I
have on many occasions wished that he was a woman and would fantasize that he
was Hinata.� Garra turned cold dead eyes to Sasuke. �I want her, alive to do
with what I will. I promise you that she will never leave my possession for the
time that I keep her alive, and that the end result will be her death, but I
would like to have that toy for a year, if she can survive my fantasies for
that long.�
�Are you asking my permission?� Sasuke asked.
�No, not at all there is only one� Garra looked to
the laughing blonde man and Sasuke thought that he saw the hint of a smile on
the killers face. �Two people that have in my mind the right to ask anything of
me and you are not one of them.� Sighing Garra continued. �I am however for
them letting you know that this is my intention. I would have Neji and now that
you have the original I will take the cheap imitation.�
�I will let my people know that she is your
property.� Sasuke smiled Garra had given him an out with Neji on the Hinata
issue. He would not have to be the one responsible for her death. �I did
however want Naruto to get some time with her, he has never ��
�Hinata is mine.� Garra said, �But if Naruto is a
virgin I will get him something.� What looked like the shadow of a smile
ghosted across Garra�s lips. �He is in fact my friend.�
Sasuke shook off the eerie feeling his conversation
with Garra gave him and went to tell Naruto that Neji had not eaten anything
and that he was sure that the long haired beauty had a fever. Naruto instantly
fixed up a plate and woke Neji all but feeding him the food that he portioned
out. The look of death that Neji sent Sasuke over Naruto�s head made Sasuke
smile as they all settled in around the room to watch the movies that the
blonde had picked out for them.
Neji lay with his back propped up against a mound
of pillows Sasuke lay in the middle and Naruto was on the opposite side of the
large bed. As the movie continued Ino began to nod off on the chaise lounge on
one side of the room while Shikamaru could be heard snoring on the lounge on
the other side of the room. Garra and Shino who were settled on the floor with
mounds of pillows were having an intense conversation, Sasuke was sure that
Shino was gathering all the information he could from the red haired man.
The feel of a hand on Sasuke�s Nipple under the
cover pulled his idle mind to the two men in bed with him. Neji had turned
toward him so that his head rested on Sasuke�s right shoulder, Naruto was
resting on his chest on the left side a tan hand had slid under the top of his
pajama top and gently traced his nipple hardening the dusky nub instantly.
Neji�s hand grazed across his stomach before sliding into the loose waist of
his pants to circle a fingertip around the head of what would soon be Sasuke�s

you.� Naruto said, his voice had become a heavy whispered pant and looking in
his eyes Sasuke could see that the blonde was gone, off into his fantasy world.
Clearing his voice Sasuke spoke. �I know that the
five of you are still awake, but I would like to get some rest, so��
Ino opened her eyes and looked at Sasuke. �He wants

for Garra like that. I just was feeling jealous that he has such interest in
the two of you.� Sasuke sighed. �The only person I ever loved was Itachi and
then you and Naruto came and now I have two more people in my life, and though
it is comforting it is also scary.� Sasuke gripped Neji�s waist tightly. �It
just means that now there are two more people that can leave me. Don�t leave
me, I know Garra has��
�Stop! Right now� Neji said in a stern voice. �I
accept your apology, but don�t do it again. I love you and the only way that I
will leave you is if I die.� Neji sighed amazed at the vulnerability he saw in
Sasuke. �Garra is not even on the radar. He knows that and has for years, and
you should too, your logical mind does know that it is just the little boy
inside that hasn�t accepted it.�
�No more sex shows� Naruto said in a firm voice.
�Even if it was hot as the sun� Naruto buried his nose in the hair on the back
of Sasuke�s head. �I won�t leave you, I just made a friend, but I love you
enough that if you don�t want me to��
�No that is unacceptable� Neji said. �Just as he
wants me, us to believe in him he has to believe in us.�
�I do� Sasuke said, �I�m just��
�We�re all scared� Naruto said for Sasuke and for
Neji. �I�m just the only one that isn�t to prideful to say it.�
�You don�t understand how it felt.� Sasuke said
closing his eyes and huddling as close to Neji as he could. There was a part of
Sasuke that felt as though he were trying to hide inside the younger man�s
skin. �I didn�t and still don�t understand why my brother left me. He didn�t
explain to me he just said that it was not my fault and then he left.� Sasuke
sighed. �I know that I am the reason that my brother left home. I was always
around him, I would go and sleep in his room at night. Hell there is a part of
me that is almost positive that I was in love with him.� Sasuke whispered, �it
was my weakness that drove him away. He got tired of me hanging on to him all
the time and left.�
�I think that is one of the stupidest things I have
ever heard.� Neji said. �I am sure that your brother loved and still loves you.
he is probably watching you from afar until this day.�
�If he is then why hasn�t he come to see me?�
Sasuke asked looking up into Neji�s eyes.
�Because he is afraid,� Neji answered feeling as
though he were looking into the eyes of a lost child. �He doesn�t know how to
explain to you why he left you.�
�I don�t care why he left I just want to see him.�
Sasuke said softly.
�Shhh both of you, go to sleep.� Naruto said sadly
reaching behind him to turn off the light. �We are about to go to war, we can
mend the past once we are sure that we will have a future.�
