  • AN: After a long absence, aff.net is back! Yaaay. I hope the authors slowly come back (I miss Chasing Naruto and Convictions!) but in the mean time, I shall upload the chapters of JoS, and a new ItaSasu story that I've been working on.

....Gah, don’t throw things at me for this chapter. Have faith that I’m not completely the type who’ll leave a story at a sad point. Besides, my girlfriend would kill me. o.-

Sasuke woke earlier than Itachi, utterly calm. It was almost foreign to him, and hard to name at first, but that was what he felt. Calm. Once or twice he had drank with Kabuto, or the other ever cycling ninja Orochimaru keep around him. Not many lasted long in his service. Sasuke rose from the bed, knowing from previous encounters with drunkenness that it would most likely bring Itachi a lot of pain upon waking. He got a glass from the cupboard and filled it with water from the bathroom sink. The pipes creaked and Sasuke glanced quickly at the bed to make sure he hadn’t woken his brother. There was slight stirring in the bed as Itachi shifted, but didn’t open his eyes.

The medicine cabinet had the basics, and Sasuke knew which pain reliever would make at least a little head way in Itachi’s soon to be condition. Taking out a few pills, Sasuke walked toward the bed, setting the glass on the bedside table. Itachi moaned, hand lifting from the sheets to his forehead.

“God.” He mustered all the hate and loathing he could into that single word, expressing clearly his current state.

Sasuke chuckled softly and held out the pills to his brother. “Here, I got something that should help with your hangover.” The younger Uchiha picked up the glass as well, waiting patiently for Itachi’s eyes to focus enough to take the medicine from him.

“I feel like a raisin.” Itachi took the offered pills and popped them into his mouth, which felt drier than the desert around Suna. He carefully took the glass, grateful for Sasuke’s thoughtfulness. After he swallowed most of it, he heard his brother laugh and kiss his forehead, bed sagging as he sat next to Itachi.

“You’ll feel better. Give the medicine time to work.” Sasuke shifted, laying next to him, smiling slightly. “Mm... love you.”

Itachi hid his face in the pillow, wishing nothing more than to disappear. Even sparing with Kisame didn’t feel this bad. Every breath made his head pound even worse. “Mhmm.” Sasuke blinked slightly, looking up at him. “Did Kisame drag me back here? Last thing I remember is playing some drinking game with him... in his room.” Never again. Ever. He usually didn’t underestimate his enemies, and he would learn from the evil that was drinking. At least in excess. Or against Kisame.

Sasuke stiffened, pulling back. “Yeah... he did.”

He felt Sasuke pull away, and was slightly confused by it. “What’s wrong?” Itachi tried to look at Sasuke, but his eyes weren’t focusing correctly.

“You don’t,” his voice was quiet, sadness filling him, “remember anything else?”

Itachi sighed, rubbing his temples to gather his thoughts. “Did I say something wrong to you last night? Did I hurt you?”

“No... you didn’t hurt me. It was perfect.”

Smiling as much as Itachi would, and could with a hang over, he touched Sasuke’s cheek, stroking it softly. “Well then, tell me what I did so I can repeat it.” He hoped he hadn’t inadvertently hurt Sasuke by taking him. His wounds might not have been fully healed yet.

    “You said you loved me.”

Itachi’s face fell a little as he looked away, dropping his hand. “Sasuke.” His brother began to shake slightly, knuckles white as he gripped the sheets. “You know I can’t. It was just... I was just drunk.”

The younger Uchiha jerked back sharply, stumbling off of the bed. “But you said it three times. You said... you said Kisame made you realize you were being stupid... and... and you said you’d never hurt me again. You had to have meant it... aniki.” The pleading tone of his voice made Itachi wince.

    “Sasuke, don’t...”

The boy flinched, tears coming to his eyes. “You had to... I thought...”

Itachi tried to sit up, groaning as he did so. If his head exploded right at that moment, it probably would have been an improvement. “I told you why I can’t.” Why he couldn’t, or maybe he was afraid he could care that much about someone again.

Hesitantly moving forward, Sasuke cupped Itachi’s face with his shaking hands. “But you said it, even... even if you were drunk, even if you don’t remember you... you wouldn’t say that if you didn’t mean it, right? Right, aniki?”

Itachi tried not to pull away. Facing this... the look on Sasuke’s face was pained, but hopeful. He knew he would kill that hope, and part of him didn’t want to. Torn between doing what he had lived by, and what he felt. “I wouldn’t lie to you.”

“So... so you meant it?” Sasuke’s eyes were painfully hopeful, brimming with unshed tears.

“Even if I did... I can’t love you, Sasuke.” His brother pulled back, shaking his head in denial. “I’m sorry... Besides, could you kill someone that loved you?”

“I can’t kill you anyway, you know that... and don’t say you’re sorry.”

    “I’m sorry you’re in pain, I’m sorry I said something I shouldn’t have said.”

“You said you’d never hurt me again.”

Itachi blinked, mind still foggy with pain and having just woken up. “Did I?

“Yes!” Sasuke flinched, half glaring at Itachi.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” That much was true. “...but I can’t love you. And I can’t live on with you, the way you want to.”

Rising with a fluid motion that surprised Itachi, Sasuke turned and headed toward the door. “Stop it.”

    “Wait.... Where’re you going?”

“I don’t know!” He wheeled away from the door, fists clenched tightly at his side. There was something he needed to know, to say and hear Itachi’s response. “Was he that much better than me? So much so that I’m not even worth loving? That you want to die just for him and leave me again?” That overwhelming sense of loss threatened to envelope him as it almost did when he was a child, facing the fact that his beloved brother murdered everyone that was dear to him, then left him alone.

    “Shisui?”

    “Yes.”

“You’re worth it, Sasuke... more than worth it. I just don’t deserve you, after what I’ve done. I died with him. All that’s left is to finally leave.”

“No. You’re still here,” Sasuke lowered his voice, resorting to something he loathed to do. “Please, Itachi... I’ll do whatever you want. Do you want me to be like him? I can do that... just tell me what to do.”

Itachi flinched, looking down. “You can’t be like him... no one can. I don’t want a copy of him, I want him. But he’s not here, because I made him that way.” Yelling didn’t help the pounding in his head, but it felt like the only way Sasuke would see his reasoning. “You’ll love someone else, you deserve better... You love a ghost, Sasuke. I’m dead.”

“You want him.... him... that’s why you can’t love me. Because I’m not him... because you still love him.” He leaned back against the door, tilting his chin up to stare at the ceiling.

“It’s not... no. It isn’t like that, exactly...”

“That’s what you just said. You want him, not me. Him.”

“I said him, not a copy.” The argument was dragging on, not improving either his mood or his headache. Itachi just wanted it to stop so Sasuke would stop looking at him in ways that made him feel guilty, which was something he did not feel, except for that once. He wanted Sasuke to go back to smiling and warming his side by being close. “You’re your own person. You have your own things that I... care about with you.”

“But you still want him. You can’t love me because of him. You can’t just,” his nails bit into his hand, small crescent shapes breaking the skin. Itachi wouldn’t be his, because he already belonged to someone else. Someone he wouldn’t let go of, even though he was dead, and not even for his brother. “I... I hate him.”

That set off a spark in Itachi, eyes narrowing at his words. “You didn’t get to know him. Don’t say that.”

“I do. I hate him.... I hate him more than anything.”

Itachi tossed the pillow at him. “Snap out of it!” The pillow hit and sank to the floor, Sasuke remained unflinching. “Get your head out of your ass. He didn’t do anything wrong to you.”

“My head’s not in my ass. I understand now. Because of him, I lost you before I ever even had you. I hate him. I wish you’d never met him.”

“I wouldn’t be me if I hadn’t met him. Without his influence I probably would have left you at Orochimaru’s if I hadn’t killed you when I slaughtered the rest of the family.”

Sasuke was quiet for a moment, still staring at the rock ceiling. Tears stayed barely contained, filling his vision. “That would have been better.”

    “What?!”

“I wish you had killed me along with everyone else.”

“How could you say that?” Wasn’t the time they were spending now worth it? He thought it was... at least.

    “Because it’s true.”

“That’s such bullshit.” Sasuke was being overly emotional. It was something he knew the younger Sasuke was prone to, but didn’t expect the older version to do the same.

Sasuke glanced down at him, tears finally spilling down his cheeks. “You want me to prove it?” Moving more quickly than someone that was still healing should, he pulled open one of the drawers that held a few kunai, taking one out and holds it to his own chest. “Do you want me to prove it?”

Itachi took a moment to assimilate what was going on. Maybe it was still the hang over speaking, but that was the last thing he expected Sasuke to do. “Put it down.” Sasuke looked hesitant, fingers tightening on the kunai. Part of Itachi sighed in relief. All he had to do was talk the boy out of doing something so foolish. “Are you honestly considering hurting yourself?”

Tilting his head a little, Sasuke thought about it. Yes, he was, and there only seemed to be one way to express that. If Itachi saw how much pain he was in, then maybe... maybe he would stop this. Or maybe it would end this helpless feeling, of not being able to change Itachi’s mind, of losing him to a dead man. His hand was steady as he plunged the kunai into his shoulder, knowing where to hit that wouldn’t kill him directly.

Itachi’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Sasuke....” Wincing, Sasuke looked down at it, eyes slightly wide and dazed, then twisted it slowly. In less than a heartbeat, Itachi was there, ignoring the way his head roared in protest, headache growing almost blinding-ly painful. “Stop it!” He didn’t want to jerk at the blade, and risk Sasuke pulling against him, possibly pushing it deeper.

“Actually,” he twisted again, wincing before giving Itachi a pained smile, “make it feel a little better.”

The older Uchiha grabbed the hilt, covering Sasuke’s fingers with his own. “That doesn’t solve a damn thing! Let go.”

    “Why?”

“I don’t like seeing you hurt.”

Sasuke let out a bitter laugh. “Oh, you’re fucking hilarious.”

    Itachi’s eyes flashed, “excuse me?”

“You don’t like seeing me hurt? This hurts a lot less...”

Carefully, he pulled the kunai toward him slowly. “I told you how I felt, I told you what would happen... Dammit Sasuke, you’ll find someone else to love.”

“No... I won’t... You refuse to love anyone after Shisui, you think I love you any less than you loved him?” It was painful to say, reminding him that once again Shisui was more important than himself.

“That’s because I killed him! He trusted me, and I killed him as coldly as I would any other nin. Its not that I don’t... care for you... its that I can’t. I made a promise, and I’m sticking to it.”

    “Then I’ll die with you.”

    “No.”

“Yes. I will. You’re asking me to do the same thing to you that you did to Shisui. You want to die after doing it, why don’t I get the same courtesy?”

“Because... it’ll be in a fair fight.”

“That doesn’t make a difference, bastard.” Sasuke tried to pull the kunai closer to him, Itachi’s grip on it only causing the blade to move slightly. Blood soaked his shirt, the red creeping along the white fibers.

Itachi gritted his teeth and pulled harder, trying to get the kunai away from him. At the very least, keep it from sinking in further. “Just stop hurting yourself, stupid, and we’ll talk!”

    “We’ve been talking.”

“So you’re going to kill yourself now?”

“Maybe, I haven’t decided yet.” That wasn’t completely true. He wouldn’t do that to himself, at least not right now. Part of Sasuke just wanted Itachi to flinch. Show some sort of reaction that might make him believe that his brother cared while not drunk.

Sasuke wasn’t disappointed. The older Uchiha sank to his knees, hands still on Sasuke’s kunai. He stared at the floor, leaning his forehead against Sasuke’s stomach. “I couldn’t make it... not through this... not without you. Don’t make me see someone else I love die.”

“Someone else you love,” he questioned in a quiet voice, pain in his shoulder all but forgotten. Itachi didn’t respond or move. “Aniki?”

“I told you... just because I feel it... we can’t be like that.”

Sasuke pulled the kunai out and let it slip from his fingers, hitting the floor with a loud clatter. He dropped to his knees as well, hands on Itachi’s knees. “Yes we can, please.... gods, please...”

Itachi wrapped his arms around Sasuke, pulling his brother against him. “Sasuke... I can’t.”

“Please, I love you so much aniki.” Sasuke clung to him like a life line, shoulder throbbing dully.

“I don’t deserve to be here with you.” Itachi knew he had died a long time ago, and yet... Sasuke made him feel. It was confusing, and made him a little apprehensive, but he felt something toward his brother, something strong.

“Yes you do.” The blood from Sasuke’s shirt began to stain Itachi’s skin. “Just forget the past, please... lets forget it all and be together. Keep the few happy memories and just forget all the rest.” That was what he was doing, or had been. Why couldn’t Itachi see that it would be better for them both if he did it as well?”

“I can’t run away from this Sasuke.”

“Yes you can.” Tears spilled over his cheeks, hands tightening around Itachi. “Please Itachi.... I can’t do this, I can’t just be with you until you’re ready to die.”

“I’m ready now. I’m staying because of you.”

Sasuke flinched, “no...” He leaned away, taking Itachi’s face in his hands, forcing him to look his brother in the eyes. “Please.”

Itachi’s heart sank a little at the tears, frowning. “Sasuke...”

“Please,” he pressed hoping to get through to him.

“...I can’t.” His brother took a shaky breath, letting his hands drop. “I’m sorry... Come on, lets go have that wound looked at.”

“I’ll go by myself.” Sasuke pulled himself up slowly, standing.

“No.” He stood, taking Sasuke’s arm gently. His head paid him for the gesture, headache growing to a roar, head pulsing with every heartbeat.

Sasuke shook his head quickly. “I don’t want you to come right now.”

“I don’t trust you won’t hurt yourself again.”

“If I wanted to hurt myself right now, I could do it here. Get back in bed, you don’t feel well.” He turned toward the door, wiping the tears off of his cheeks quickly.

    “Sasuke... don’t do anything stupid.”

“I won’t.” Sasuke opened the door then paused. “I tried my best. I won’t ask you again. Ever. I promise.” He left before he could see Itachi flinch, shutting the door behind him loudly. The boy fisted his hands, shaking a little. No more happy ending for him...

    “I’m sorry... Sasuke....”

Itachi leaned back, closing his eyes as he tried to relax. It wasn’t easy with the others in the same tub, especially not with Deidara and Kisame. They seemed to feed off each other. Kisame was amusing occasionally, but together, they become either funny or annoying, usually straying toward the side of annoying. Sasori stirred beside him.

“I saw something rather disturbing, today.” The blonde boy mumbled, kicking his legs in the water. He didn’t need to bathe this way, but he stuck near his partner. Sasori sat on the edge of the large tub, pant legs pushed up to his knees so his legs could dangle and not wet his clothes.

“Oh?” Kisame prompted, elbows resting on the sides of the tub.

“It seems Leader has kept... disturbing pictures of Orochimaru.”

Kisame tilted his head back, laughing. “So he has porn, ne? I don’t know if that would qualify as disturbing.” It disturbed Itachi. There were probably pictures of himself some where, hidden from him. Rightfully so, deal or not, Itachi would burn any trace of them.

Sasori wrinkled his nose delicately. “It disturbs me. I don’t like seeing Orochimaru in that sort of state.”

“Ah, well there’s nothing wrong with porn.” Kisame shrugged, “I’ve got enough in my room.” Itachi held back a groan. Yet another thing he didn’t wish to hear from his partner. Ah well, he was screwing his brother, compared to that, a porn collection wasn’t quite as perverted.

Deidara raised his hand, watching the water trickle from his fingers. “You have porn?” He slid his eyes over Kisame’s blue skinned body then blinked. “What do you do... record shows off of the nature channel?”

The former mist ninja threw back his head, laughing loudly. “That’s cold Deidara. Coming from someone who probably whacks off to that one guy that paints and uses that slow and calm voice.” Deidara splashed him, shooting Kisame a sour look.

Sasori snickered then glanced away. “Itachi... You’re more distant than usual today.”

The Uchiha peeled open his eyes, aware his tub mates were watching him. “It’s nothing.”

“Having trouble with the little wife?” Kisame snickered then winced, receiving a kick from Itachi. “Oi, I was just kidding. Is Sasuke doing well?”

    “Fine.”

“He’s a fast learner... yeah...” Deidara mumbled, going back to playing with the water. There had been a few times where he met the couple on the way out to train, adding his own knowledge to that of what Sasuke should learn. They were interesting to watch; there was always a tension between them, one that grew when ever the other was closest. Sasuke’s eyes had dulled considerably since the first time he had met the boy, assuming he and Itachi had a fight of some sort. Itachi was equally as effected, more distant and quiet than usual. Which said a lot; Sasori spoke more than Itachi now.

“He is.” Itachi re-shut his eyes, tilting his face up. Sasuke was stubborn, insisting everything was fine. The midget medical ninja had approached him earlier, chirping about making sure Sasuke would be more careful while training. Itachi assumed that was the story Sasuke had told and just nodded when the nin would look at him expectantly. Still, Sasuke clung to him at night, grip taking on a more desperate edge. He knew he was constantly upsetting Sasuke, and what made it worse, he was beginning to become more reluctant to do it.

“The boy is interested in the experiments we do,” Sasori said passively, brushing his hair out of his eyes. “That’s a rare quality indeed. Besides, from his... some what limited training with Orochimaru, he understands the basic mechanics of it. I want to take him now and then, see just how much he can absorb.”

“You mean you wanna experiment on him.” The blonde mutter, popping a sudd bubble.

“In a way, I guess.” Sasori looked at Itachi, “would you mind?”

“No. As long as he isn’t harmed,” Itachi added hastily, opening his eyes. Sasori’s experiments were usually bloody, though he grasped why the former sand nin wanted to borrow his brother. There wouldn’t be any harm to Sasuke if Sasori only wanted to drill him.

    “Of course.”

Deidara stood and quickly hopped out of the bath. “I’m bored. Lets go get something to eat, Sasori-danna.”

“Right.” Sasori lifted his legs out of the water, rolling his pant legs back down the pale slender calves. He stood slowly, watching Deidara get dressed. As soon as his partner was done, he was promptly dragged out, Deidara chittering happily.

Kisame waited until they were out of ear shot, then nudge Itachi with a toe. “So what happened?”

    “With what?”

“The game.” The gilled man rolled his eyes, “with Sasuke, smart ass.”

Itachi leveled a cool gaze at his partner. Kisame returned it, not backing down. Of course his partner would be used to his glares. Sighing, Itachi relented, “when I was drunk, I told Sasuke I loved him.”

    “...So where’s the problem?”

    “I took it back.”

Kisame smacked his forehead, shaking his head. “Was the Uchiha clan heavily inbred before you killed ‘em all?” He knew why Itachi held back from the little Uchiha, but he didn’t understand it completely. What was done, was done. Itachi hadn’t seemed the type to dwell on such things.

“Probably, considering what Sasuke and I do.”

“True.... But look, Sasuke wants a little return, ya know?”

    “No, I don’t.”

Sighing, Kisame spread his hands out over the water. “He’s told you he loves you, and all you’ve said was to kill you. That isn’t equal. You need to show him he’s important to you.”

    “I keep him around, don’t I?”

“...No wonder he’s mad at you. Did you tell him that?” The Uchiha gave him a look, raising one eyebrow. It was meant to say, ‘of course not you idiot’ but Kisame preferred to think of it as ‘do I look like I wouldn’t miss my balls?’ “Then try showing him he’s important.”

    “That all sounds... very girly.”

“Bah. Even men need a little reassurance now and then. Especially after taking back the I love you stuff.”

    “I guess...”

“Are you completely sure you can’t love him?” Kisame couldn’t picture Itachi muttering sweet nothings in Sasuke’s ear, but the two... they just felt right. Even if they were brothers, their bond was closer than that of any sibling he’d met. Closer than Itachi let anyone else get, even himself. He had years to get used to this side of Itachi, Sasuke didn’t know it all that well yet. What Itachi figured as gestures on his part to show how important Sasuke is to him were perfectly clear to himself, but not to the boy. Itachi probably couldn’t understand that very well; Kisame contemplated taking Sasuke aside. Getting into other people’s business wasn’t his thing, but their love hate relationship was annoying.

“No... I made a promise, and I’m sticking to it. Why would he want someone that could lie and break promises? I don’t understand why he doesn’t get that.”

“He thought that much of you anyway, before he knew the... other thing.” Saying Shisui’s name would usually put his partner in a terrible mood. “You hurt him a lot back then, even tortured the boy, and yet he gives a shit about you. I think he wouldn’t mind you fudging on one promise.”

“I’m not going to give on this, Kisame.”

Kisame sighed, shaking his head. “Fine, fine... just think about it.”

    “Mm... I’ll try.”

Sasuke came back reluctantly, rubbing the bandaged shoulder through his shirt. It itched, healing skin pulling together. Itachi hadn’t been too pleased with him after the stunt he pulled. He was torn between wanting to make Itachi proud while they trained, and wanting to learn very slowly to keep him close. Grasping that Itachi was leaving, one way or another, was yet to settle correctly in his mind.

Quietly he crept back into their room, closing the door behind him. He would take walks at night, had gotten used to staying up until Itachi was in bed with him whenever these missions would take him away. Now even when Itachi was home with him, he needed to pace at least once before settling down.

Itachi was hidden under a mound of blankets which heaved now and then as he breathed. Sasuke shivered and dove under with him, thankful for his brother’s warmth. The older Uchiha winced, lips moving silently. Frowning, Sasuke shook his shoulder gently. “Aniki?”

His eyes fluttered open, unfocused and sleep hazed. “Sasuke?”

“Aa. You looked like you were having a nightmare...”

Pulling his brother into his arms, Itachi nuzzled his hair. “It was... I dreamt you had off-ed yourself and left me alone.”

Sasuke snuggled against his chest, fingers stroking his chest through the nightshirt. “I won’t do that. I won’t kill myself while you’re still alive,” he whispered, closing his eyes.

“So you’ll kill me then kill yourself?”

“I’m not sure yet that I’m going to kill you, but if I do, then yes, I will kill myself right after.” Sasuke preferred not to think about it at all, but he knew he would have to come up with some sort of solution. It was what Itachi wanted, and part of him did not want to disappoint his brother. The other wanted nothing more than to have him close.

    “Stop that.”

Sasuke stiffened, not sure what he had done. “Stop what?”

“The more you talk, the more I want to stick around.” Sasuke was changing his plans too much, it wreaked havoc on his mind. This was the plan he had set out from the age of thirteen, allowing a few changes to take Sasuke in from the snake’s grasp. Itachi never counted on having more feelings than he already had for his brother. It was confusing, and he felt horrible for being so weak. Part of his plan was already destroyed; he loved Sasuke, even though he did not like to dwell on that realization. The other was crumbling before him with every pained word Sasuke would utter. If he didn’t have his plan, then what did he have?

    “Then I should keep talking...”

“Then you should stop,” Itachi corrected, kissing his hair. “Stop changing me.”

“Changing you was never my intention, I just want to change your mind.” Sasuke shifted, wrapping his arms around Itachi’s neck, opening his eyes to watch his brother.

“I don’t want to change my mind.” The younger Uchiha’s eyes flickered in pain at his words. Itachi sighed, stroking his hair. Damn him, and the feelings that his pain stirred. When Sasuke was this close, he felt like telling him how much he cared, that he wanted to protect him from any pain. Itachi knew it was not realistic; pain happened, it was a part of living. Still, knowing that did not sway his mind from thinking such things. Love was unrealistic, and senseless. Sasuke looked away, obviously hurt by Itachi’s words then silence. “Maybe this is my fault... I’ve gotten you too attached to me.”

“I would have gotten attached to you anyway.”

Something had to change. There was a slight distance between them ever since he had taken back his words, and Itachi wanted it to end. Of course ending it meant saying something as difficult as saying I love you. “...I’m sorry I told you those things last night.” When Itachi didn’t combust for saying he was sorry, his fingers toyed with Sasuke’s hair gratefully.

“No, you should be able to tell me things like that. I overreacted.”

“Kisame did show me I was being stupid. I shouldn’t get mad at you for not wanting to kill me... because you care for me too.” Itachi shifted under the sheets, uncomfortable with this... touchy feely sort of talk. Sasuke didn’t seem to notice, nodding a little to Itachi’s words. “I still will train you... For two years.”

    “What happened to three?”

“You’re learning more quickly than I had thought you could.” If he worked hard enough, he could prove Sasuke’s worth to Leader, and the older man would accept his brother into the Akatsuki once he died.

    “Three years.”

    “Two.”

    “Three. You promised me three.”

“I can’t...” Gritting his teeth, he amended what he was going to say. “Fine, three.” He did not like having to break his promise, and was a little tired of telling Sasuke he couldn’t do things. Three more years of Leader touching him... Worth it, Sasuke was worth it, Itachi repeated silently in his mind. He owed it to Sasuke as well.

A week later, and Sasuke had mostly come to terms with his fate. He was good at that, accepting to change for the circumstances. Before, he would have never thought of hurting his brother, but he changed to avenge his family... No, he changed also to prove to Itachi that he was not the weakling he appeared to be.

Sasuke was making his way to the cafeteria, limp completely gone. Thanks to some new jutsus he had learned, the younger Uchiha had experimented on himself, healing the wounds that were hindering his progress. The scars lingered, white cris-crosses on his alabaster skin. Despite reassuring Itachi that he was feeling better, the stubborn older brother kept to the medical ninja’s request. If it had not been so embarrassing, Sasuke would have marched down to the infirmary and ordered the man to look him over again.

“Sasuke.” Leaning against the wall, Leader had waited for Sasuke to walk by. He was annoyed with how Itachi was reacting in bed, obviously closer to his brat. Itachi seemed happier, to those who know how to pick up on it, and that infuriated him. If anyone was to make Itachi happy, it was he, not some whelp.

Blinking, he glanced over at the man. From Kisame’s description, he could guess who the man was. Scowling, Sasuke remembered to be respectful, bowing his head slightly. “Yes?”

“Come with me, Itachi’s pet. I have something I want to show you.”

    “I’m not Itachi’s pet.”

Leader sneered, “and what are you?” He grabbed the boy’s arm, dragging him back to his room.

Sasuke stumbled after him, crying out. “Hey!”

“Do you know who I am?”

“Aa...” An asshole? Sure, he knew that well enough from the other Akatsuki he had spoken to.

“Good.” Opening a door, he forced Sasuke inside. How kind of Itachi to mention him. He was sure, from what he had observed, that the brat didn’t know of their agreement. Leader shut the door behind him, letting go of Sasuke to snatch a remote off of the table. “Do you know where your brother goes at night?”

Sasuke stiffened, “what does that have to do with anything?”

“I’ll show you,” he said with a smirk, leaning against the table, crossing his ankles. Leader pointed the remote at the tv, turning it on. “Your brother’s... late night missions are quite entertaining.” Pushing the play button, the screen flickered to life, a recording of Itachi writing below him playing. One of their more fun nights, before the brat had gotten closer to Itachi.

Sasuke’s eyes widened, staring at the tv. So this was what was so important... This was the reason Itachi had marks from some mystery lover. His fists started to shake, jaw clenched in anger and pain. Looking away, he let out a shaky breath. “Turn it off. I have no interest in watching that.”

“Why not? Doesn’t your brother moan prettily?”

    “Turn it off!”

Leader’s hand whipped out to grab the front of Sasuke’s shirt, eyes narrowing. “Don’t you dare raise your voice to me.” A cruel smiled played on his lips. “I mean... I might as well be your brother as well... With how much we screw.”

Unable to control himself, Sasuke punched him. His fist connected with the older man’s jaw, sending him stumbling back in surprise. “Fuck you!” Sasuke could not help but shake, hoping it would pass as simply anger alone.

Blinking a little he touched his jaw. It had been a very long time indeed since the last time someone had gotten a punch in. “You... fucking hit me...” He laughed, throwing his head back. “You must think you’ve got balls of steel.”

Sasuke tried to ignore the sounds coming from the tv, glaring at Leader. They were really... He could not please Itachi and this was what he did? The sounds were so similar to the ones he made his brother mutter, but since he couldn’t bring himself to look at the tv once more, he didn’t see the pain in Itachi’s face.

Leader licked his lips, “I’ll let that slide, this time... but if you ever raise a hand to me again,” he lowered his voice, “I’ll make you watch as I fuck your brother, then kill him. As much as I’m sure he’d love the first part,” Leader shrugged, “I don’t mind losing a lover. I have others. Your brother though... He’s my favorite, he’s so fucking tight.”

Unable to hear any more, Sasuke turned toward the door, jerking it open as he stalked out. His brother... Shaking Sasuke ran a hand through his hair. He was so stupid... thinking Itachi actually loved him.

Leader was pleased with Sasuke’s reaction. With that set in motion, he would wait for their relationship to crumble. Raising his voice, he called out to Sasuke, “don’t forget to tell your brother we have a date tonight.”

Sasuke began to run, pushing past people in the hall. It was embarrassing to have to force the tears from coming to his eyes. He was a man, and he had already cried too much. Head down, he slowed his pace, stalking back to their room.

Itachi was in the study, reading the scrolls he had collected earlier from the library. He picked up a cup and sipped at its contents, half distracted with the theory the scroll contained. Another growl from his stomach, and looked around, wondering where Sasuke was. The boy insisted they ate before absorbing themselves fully in the reading. The door clicked open then creaked before shutting with another click. “Sasuke? What’s for lunch?”

“I didn’t get any. Leader stopped me on my way.”

Itachi’s blood ran cold, fingers tightening on the ceramic cup. “What’d he say?” Putting the cup down quickly, he stood, chair skittering out behind him as he walked back into the main room.

“He told me to remind you that you two have a date tonight. Right after he showed me a video of him fucking you.”

Clenching his fists, he hit the wall behind him. “That bastard...” Why could not he be happy with what was going on? Itachi was giving the man his body, was it not enough? Did he have to kill whatever enjoyment he received from his brother.... His brother... Itachi took a step toward him. “Sasuke...” The younger Uchiha promptly took a step back. “Sasuke! What did I tell you about him? ...Remember? I told you to give me a change to explain first.”

“It’s fine... I knew you were sleeping with someone else. I just didn’t expect to have to see it.”

“No.” Angry, he picked up the small vase from the dresser and threw it against the wall. It would be a pain to clean up later, but it made him feel better. “It is not like that!”

Sasuke flinched at the loud shattering vase, whispering “then what is it like, Itachi?”

It was over. There was no way he could keep it from Sasuke any more. Hopefully the boy would not react as he thought he would. “Do you remember those cuts I came home with? I may be giving out my body, but it is not because I want him. Or even stand him.”

    “Then why?”

Annoyed with how unimpressed Sasuke seemed by the admission, he glared at the boy. “He wouldn’t let you stay. Not unless I returned to his bed.” That got his attention, Sasuke’s eyes snapping to his own sharply. “I told him that I didn’t want him leaving marks on me... because it hurt you. That’s where I’ve been, yes... but not because I want him like I want you. Don’t be mad, Sasuke... I hate him, but I didn’t want to lose you.”

Sasuke watched him quietly for a few moments. It wasn’t likely that his brother would lie to him, though if he did, there wouldn’t be any way he could tell. Itachi was good at lying. He wanted to believe him... Not only that, it made sense, for the most part. “Okay.” The next thing to consider... he couldn’t stay here. If it meant Itachi enduring that for him, it was not worth it. “I don’t want you to put up with that for me.”

“You don’t have any choice in the matter. There isn’t any other way, and you will not leave.”

    “But...”

“But what? Are you going to make what I put up to keep you here all for nothing? Just let me do this, Sasuke.” He walked slowly to Sasuke, reaching up to brush his fingers over his brother’s lips. “You’re worth this, and a lot more, to me.”

Closing his eyes, Sasuke nodded, licking one finger as it passed over. “I just... then don’t treat me like a leper.” He opened his eyes again, leaning closer to him. “We only had that one time together, I want to do it again.” There were other times, where they touched... or Sasuke was on top... but he wanted his brother to do more than touch him, he wanted to feel him inside. “Please, aniki... I’m healed...”

Itachi’s resolve wavered. Sasuke did indeed seem healed, but there were wounds on the inside of him that he could not examine and see scars. “Sasuke, I don’t want to hurt you...”

“You won’t.... but if you do, I wouldn’t mind. Anything is better than not feeling you near me.” He flattened his body against Itachi’s, wrapping his arms around him.

    “I thought you were mad.”

“I hated to see you like that, with someone else.” Sasuke lowered his voice to barely above a whisper, lips brushing over his brother’s as he spoke. “Make me forget... drive that memory out of me.”

Itachi’s resolve shattered at that, quickly claiming Sasuke’s lips with his own. His hands wandered up Sasuke’s back, more firmly than he ever had before. Now that he knew that he could not hurt his brother, he would give his body the proper exploration it deserved. Sasuke moaned against his lips, pressing his body even closer, hips meeting each other.

Leader showed Sasuke to cause them strife. Itachi had a good way of paying that back, and showing him that while he would keep up his end of the bargain, it was in no way submitting to him completely. Breaking away from the kiss, Itachi caught his breath for a moment then smirked as he nuzzled Sasuke’s cheek. “I want him to see us.” If he was perverted enough to tape their times together, then he would get an eyeful.

Sasuke smirked knowingly, nuzzling back. “Aa... but where?”

    “In the hallway.”

“Someone else might see us.” Not that Sasuke cared at this point. Itachi could have suggested they have sex on the Hokage’s desk, and the younger Uchiha would have asked for it hard. “Then again, that’s... sort of hot.”

“Mm,” Itachi nipped at Sasuke’s earlobe. “Pervert.”

Playfully smacking Itachi’s arm, Sasuke chuckled. “You’re the one that suggested it.”

“I think we’re equally perverted, now.”

“Aa... Equally.” Sasuke cupped Itachi’s butt and squeezed, fingers kneading the fleshy bottom. Itachi stepped away and grabbed his wrist, eyes flickering with mischief as he pulled Sasuke toward the door. The boy pulled away, holding up one finger as he took out the bottle of lube, stuffing it into his pant pocket. Nodding to Itachi, he offered his wrist to his brother’s waiting hand. He had long given up on having their next time be loving and romantic; his first time on top was the only memory he needed. It had been perfect, and even though the words murmured then were disputed later, Sasuke wouldn’t have changed anything.

Wrenching the door open, Itachi led Sasuke into the hallway. There was a side walk way that not many used, there was less of a chance of them running into someone. In theory it would be amusing, but Itachi did not want any distractions. After rounding a sharp turn, Itachi pushed Sasuke against the wall, kissing him again. Their tongues played as their hands struggled to unzip the other’s pants. Itachi moaned as his brother’s skilled hands reached his length first, taking it out through the flap in his underwear and stroking it lovingly. Not one to fall behind, Itachi soon had his brother moaning as well.

“How... do we... work this?” Sasuke said through ragged gasps of breath.

“Mm... Hold on.” The younger Uchiha whimpered at the loss of warmth around his aching member, leaning heavily against the wall. Itachi pulled down his pants to mid-thigh, then lifted Sasuke’s legs as he stood again. Supported by the wall and his brother, Sasuke wrapped one arm around Itachi’s neck, adjusting his legs to a more comfortable position. Leaning his almost full weight against Sasuke, he pinned the boy to the wall, using his now free hands to retrieve the lubrication that was so thoughtfully brought along. Itachi wetted his lips as he concentrated on rubbing the cool gel around his length. “Should I...”

    “No. Just do it.”

Nodding, Itachi pressed against him, adjusting Sasuke position on the wall to accommodate his entry more fully. Sasuke moaned, one hand clawing at Itachi’s back, the other lifting to the wall behind him. He took a moment to let Sasuke get used to the feeling and relax, not wanting to hurt his brother. Narrowed black eyes caught his own and Sasuke nodded for him to go on. With a deep breath, he pulled away, body quickly slamming into the one pinned to the wall. Itachi moaned, body hunched over Sasuke’s as he leaned his head against his brother’s, bodies connecting loudly.

    “Wow.”

Itachi did not even bother to look up, closing his eyes against who ever had walked upon them. If they tried to stop them, they would quickly die. Nothing, except for Sasuke’s call, would stop him right now. A sliver of a thought wormed into his mind; no wonder Orochimaru wanted to keep Sasuke. The boy felt amazing around him, responded perfectly to every movement. Thoughts of the snake during sex were quickly chased away.

“Oi, don’t stop so sudden...ly...” Kisame blinked at the sight, “wow.”

Deidara nodded, “that’s what I said... yeah.”

Sasuke drowned out the other’s voices; every pore of his body felt, tasted, and heard his brother, moving in and out of him, breath tickling his lips, sweat mingling with his own. Every villager from Konoha could have been watching, and he would not have cared in the least.

“Hmm...” Deidara’s hands disappeared under his cloak.

Kisame gave him an amused look. “Shouldn’t you at least do that in your own room?”

“Nooo.” Smiling, he brought out a package of candy he had bought earlier. “Pop rocks?”

    “No thanks.”

Alright, maybe all of Konoha could have been there, but the two that were actually there were slightly annoying. “Do you mind?” Sasuke half glared at them, words harsher than usual. Itachi’s thrusts never missed a beat, used to his partner and friend by now.

“No, I don’t mind at all. Free porn.” The blonde smirked, tossing the candy into his mouth. He left it open, giggling a little as the candy popped and crackled in his mouth.

Sasuke twitched, thoroughly annoyed now. Kisame didn’t help, grinning down at the smaller Akatsuki member. “You’re right. Besides, this is better than the stuff we got on the tv. No boobs.”

“No boobs... yeah...” Deidara said around a mouthful of candy.

“Besides, they’re pretty good. Oi, you two would make a killing in porn.” Kisame snickered, not at all repent-ful for heckling the two. If they wanted to do it in public, they would have to get used to it. At least they were making up nicely.

Sasuke was about to say something rather rude to that when Itachi’s hand wrapped around his length, stroking it in quick jerks of his hand. All thought went right out the window once more. Moaning, Sasuke clutched at his brother more desperately. He was edging closer to release, Itachi’s every thrust and stroke driving him to there. “Ita...chi,” the last syllable was gasped as his body shook, pleasure whitening his vision for a moment. Even his toes went numb for a moment, feeling separate from his body, floating above it. He was aware his own moans were joined by Itachi’s, hips jerking off the tempo he had so wonderfully kept. Sasuke could not tell if his eyes were open or closed, and really did not care either way, struggling to regain his breath. His brother’s hot gasps were mingling with his own, for one moment he couldn’t discern his own body from the one joined to him.

“Damn,” Deidara breathed, blinking and fidgeting. “Now I’m horny, yeah....” Kisame grunted beside him, then cleared his throat. The blonde slide his eyes over the muscular blue toned body. He would do. “Oi... come back to my room with me?”

Tearing his eyes from his partner and brother, Kisame glanced down at the slyly grinning blonde. “To your... oh. Sure.” He smirked, following Deidara as they doubled back, returning to main hallway.

After the sensations faded a bit, Sasuke chuckled. “That... might be a little disturbing.” His body ached from the position they were still in, and his rear twitched in annoyance for its abuse. Itachi withdrew from him gently, putting Sasuke down. It took the younger Uchiha a moment to stand without assistance, but he was grinning from ear to ear. Shameful, he knew, but not in the least bit sorry.

“I don’t know, I’m glad Kisame has something... someone,” Itachi winced and glanced down the hall, not wanting to annoying his friend, “to take that out on.”

“Mm... true.” Having finally regained his breath, and most of the rubbery feeling gone from his legs, Sasuke pushed away from the wall. “We need to do this often.”

“Yes. Often.” Itachi smirked, hoping Leader watched the whole thing. His toy was not just his, and if he did not feel like sharing, that was Leader’s problem, not his. Perhaps the three years would not be so horrible after all, even if this was taken out of his hide later. The feel of Sasuke against him would always push those memories away. Now if only he could think of a way to get Leader disinterested in him...
