Knock Knock! Kai struck the wood door. He was currently at the Nara compound, responding to the mission. The compound was fairly big with many trees separating the different buildings. "Yes?" A voice asked as the door opened.
Before him stood a fairly attractive older woman, probably mid thirties. "Uh, hi. My name's Kai, I'm here about the job you requested." He introduced.
"Oh yes! Please come in." The woman said with a smile. "In Yoshino Nara, the Matriarch of the clan." Yoshino introduced. Kai bowed, showing her respect. "It seems at least some people show others respect." Yoshino said, raising her voice at the ceiling. Kai sweat dropped.
"So your mission request says there's something in your forests killing your deer. Is it doing anything else?" Kai asked. Yoshino raised a finger to her head, tapping it a few times.
"Hm, you know, now that I think of it, there have been deep gashes left in some trees as well." She thought aloud.
"Thank you, that is most helpful in tracking this thing. Where might I look first Ma'am?" He asked. Yoshino smiled at his politeness.
"I'll have Shikamaru show you. Do you know each other?" She asked.
"We've met, but I don't really know him." Kai said rubbing the back of his head.
"Hm, well I hope you become good friends. That way maybe your politeness will rub off on him." She said as she turned to go up the stairs. He watched her shapely backside as it dissapeared. As he waited, a light bulb appeared above him. Before he could capitalize on it, he heard a lot of screaming from upstairs.
After another minute, Shikamaru walked downstairs, rubbing his ear, followed by a smiling Yoshino. Maybe she gets off on commanding her son? Kai asked himself. His earlier light bulb appeared again.
"Hello Shikamaru." Kai said. Shikamaru waved before the two exited the house.
"Troublesome. My mom wants me to hang out with you, since your well mannered." Shikamaru said slipping his hands in his pockets. "I would like to know how your tests went yesterday." He said.
"Quite well, we may have a new way to, at the very least, slow down Akatsuki. At most, we may be able to trap them and capture or kill them." Kai said as they entered the forest.
"Troublesome. That means we're probably going to get a team together to fight them. How does your jutsu slow down your enemy?" He asked.
"Kurenai and I found my jutsu, Corrupt, messes with a person's sense of time. So for example, I placed her under it for half an hour, but she only experienced thirty seconds." Kai explained. Shikamaru stopped moving.
"Your serious?" The pineapple head asked.
"Would you like a short demonstration?" Kai asked.
"Troublesome. But sure, as one of Konoha's strategist, and the one most likely in charge of Countering Akatsuki, I probably should. But only a short one." Shikamaru concented. Kai nodded before casting Corrupt.
"Shikamaru, you will, without realizing it, start lusting after your mom, and will come to enjoy taking commands from her, and even the occasional punishment." Kai said. Then he released the jutsu.
"Interesting, how long has it been?" He asked.
"About a minute and a half." Kai said. Shikamaru raised an eyebrow.
"Alright, we're nearly where the attacks started. I'm going to go deliberate on how to add your jutsu to the counter team." He said. After another few minutes, they stopped. "We're here. Bye." He said immediately turning around.
Looking around, Kai saw many saw many slashes in the trees trunks. "Hm." He said, placing his fingers inside one of the gashes. "About two inches deep, but about a half a foot long. The cut is not clean either. This wasn't a human." Kai figured. Looking around at the different gashes, he spotted something in one of the trees.
Taking a kunai, he dug the object out of the wood. It was blacked, and slightly curved, but seemed to be part of a larger piece as it had a jagged, spintered end. "This is some kind of claw. There must be a large predator out here." Kai summarized.
After depositing the claw in his bag, he kept searching, finding more gashes in trees. Eventually, he came to an older part of the forest, where the trees were large enough to have a home in. There he found gashes, but much older ones that the tree had healed. "Interesting." Kai said aloud.
Soon, he felt like he was being watched through the canopy. Taking out his knife, Kai eyed the tree tops, searching for any sign of his stalker. As he turned around, a loud screech bellowed through the woods, before Kai was slammed into the ground. As he stood up, he felt a wet, burning sensation in his back. He reached around, and felt his back, before returning it to his face. His hand was covered in blood.
"Shit, not good." Kai said. Another screech was let out, but this time, Kai was more prepared and dodged to the side, catching a glimps of his assailant. It was a large bird. "So those gashes were from talons." Looking around, he couldn't spot the raptor anywhere. "Earth wall!" He yelled as a ten foot wall erupted behind him. He then released a bit of water from his bracelets, preparing his water needle attack. "Where are you?" He asked himself.
Suddenly his peripheral vision caught sight of movement, closing in on him. Turning towards the bird, he flung his hand, sending a thousand tiny needles at it. The bird, going quite fast, tried to turn, but couldn't maneuver fast enough, and the needles picked off a few feathers out of it's tail and wing. The sudden change of aerodynamics caused it to slam into the ground.
Kai grabbed his dagger, which had been sent flying, and slowly approached the bird. As he got closer he realized it was some kind of owl. The owl itself looked battle hardened, having a few scars visible through its feathers. It's talons looked razor sharp, no doubt what killed the deer and lacerated his back. It was also quite large, much more so than any regular bird.
Before he could get close enough to kill the bird, it regained consiousness and jumped to its feet, a glare aimed at Kai. "You are a very tough bird, Mr. Owl." Kai said.
"Thank you human." It said as it assumed a strange stance. Kai face planted in suprise.
"You can talk!?" Kai yelled. The owl nodded slowly before charging at him, his talons ready to tear chunks out of Kai. Kai countered with a kick to the wing, knocking the bird off balance. He charged with his dagger ready to use his advantage, but the owl thought otherwise. Using its apparent off balance, it somersaulted sideways, reflecting the dagger, while dodging to the left.
Quickly going through some seals, Kai gathered water in his mouth before shooting it at the bird. The owl, still injured from the last water jutsu, couldn't dodge, and got hit straight in the chest, knocking it into a tree, and breaking it's wing.
"You've bested me Human. I ask that you kill me quickly." The owl asked.
"Why are you attacking the deer of this forest?" Kai asked.
"My mate and I are expecting. We need the food to feed our children." The Owl explained. Kai nodded.
"You are powerful, might I know your name?" Kai asked.
"Riku. My mate is Kana." Riku introduced.
"I am Kai. Your quite large for a regular owl, are you a summons?" Kai asked. Riku shook his head.
"There is not an owl Summons that I am aware of. I am big because I train to protect my mate." Riku explained.
"Well, how about you and Kana become my summons. If she's anything like you, she must be strong. It also would keep you guys out of trouble, as the owners of this land wanted me to kill you." Kai explained.
"Is there a way to create a summons?" Riku asked.
"I believe so, but I currently do not have the knowledge of how to do it. But I believe the Hokage, the leader of this human Village, knows how, or at least has the information of how to create a contract." Kai explained. Riku thought for a moment.
"I will discuss it with Kana. You will be back?" He asked.
"Once I have the information I will be back to ask you your decision. But first, as I have broke your wing, let me fix it." He said. He pulled out a basic first aid kit.
"This will hurt." Kai informed. Riku nodded before biting a stick. Kai grabbed the wing and yanked it back into position. Riku winced. Kai then wrapped the wing in bandages, keeping it locked in place. "Where is your nest?" Kai asked.
"Not far." Riku said. The two walked deeper into the woods, passing some deer along the way.
"How tall are you Riku?" Kai asked.
"Roughly five feet tall, why?" The owl responded.
"Just wondering if you would get any bigger." Kai said. "What kind of owl are you?" I asked.
"Eagle owl." Riku said. They stopped in front of a large Oak tree. "You may wish to step back." He suggested. Kai looked at him confused before complying. "Kana, I'm back, I need some assistance." Riku yelled. A large shadow appeared, in the trees before an owl, a bit smaller than Riku, landed on the ground.
Kana looked at Kai with distrust and confusement. "Kai here bested me in battle. He has offered to let us become summoning animals, to protect us from the other Humans." He informed. Kana looked at his wing before shaking her head. She flew off for a moment before reappearing with a large rope.
"Like i said, we will talk about it." Riku said before he grabbed on to the rope with his talons and beak. Kana looked at Kai once more before flying up to their nest, dissapearing in the shadows.
Kai turned around, and started heading back to the compound. About half way there, he started feeling dizzy from the wounds on his back. He stopped and carefully wrapped his body in bandages to help stop the blood before continuing back. Eventually, he made it to Shikamaru's home.
"Oh Kai, your back." Yoshino said as she opened the door. When she opened it fully, and gasped at the shape he was in. "Kai what happened!?" She demanded.
"I found the source of your deer problems." Kai said before he sat down on the doorstep.
"Kai, should I call a medic?" She asked.
"No, I'll go to the hospital after this. It was a giant owl. He was getting food for his mate who was watching over their eggs. I engaged him and this is the result. He was quite injured as well." Kai said.
"Thank you. I will get the men to go kill them immediately." Yoshino said.
"Wait. His names Riku. I gave him the option of becoming my summoning animal along with his mate and kids. I told him I would be back to get his response after I find out how to make a summoning contract." Kai said. Yoshino nodded.
"Very well, I will give you some time, but they better be gone one way of another. Let me get you some water at least, before you go to the hospital." She said. As she turned around, Kai placed her under corrupt.
"Gotta do this now." He said to himself. "Yoshino, you will start feeling pleasure when you order Shikamaru around. When he's good, you will feel the need to reward him. When he's bad, you will punish him. You will start to feel lust towards these acts as well." Kai said before cancelling the jutsu. Yoshino snapped out of It and got him the water.
"Thank you." He said guzzling it down. "I better go get treated." He said.
"Wait." Yoshino said. Kai turned around, seeing the mission scroll on it. "I'll say you took care of it, since your coming back." She said with a smile. Kai thanked her before slowly heading towards the hospital.
