Gaara POV

                I woke up to her in my arms again. After James and everyone found out, we decided there wasn’t any use in keeping it secret anymore. I kissed her head and breathed in the smell of vanilla. Her shampoo always smelt amazing, and I will always think of her from now on when I smell this scent. I felt her head move, and then she sighed softly. I smiled, and watched her look up at me with a dazed look on her face. She grinned slowly “Morning”, I rubbed her cheek with my thumb “Morning beautiful”. She smirked at me and laid her head back on my chest. I couldn’t stop thinking how lucky I was to have her with me. I never thought I would be so lucky, and I am forever grateful that I am.
                We laid there a little longer, until my phone rang and I groaned. I didn’t want to get out of bed, but I knew I had to. Jensa sat up and I grabbed my phone, seeing my brother’s number on the ID. I rubbed my eyes and took a deep breath, then hit the green button. “Morning. What’s up?” I said, and I heard Konkuro sigh in the phone “Gaara, did you forget about something today? In about 1.5 hours from now?”. I looked around the room confused for a second, until my eyes rested on my cloak and I gasped, jumping out of bed “Shit! Okay I’m coming. Give me 10 minutes”. I could hear the aggravation in his voice “Hurry up Gaara. We can’t keep the Kage Summit waiting”.
                He hung up on me and I tossed my phone on the bed while I got dressed. Jensa was watching me cautiously, then I smiled at her “Everything’s okay. I just forgot about a meeting I need to attend in an hour”. Jensa hissed “Oops”, and I let out a small laugh while I pulled on my cloak over my clothes. I grabbed my phone and slipped them into my jeans, then pulled my shoes on. I turned and looked at the amazing woman laying naked in my bed, and bit my lip “I hope I can come back soon”. She grinned “Me to, I’m going to miss you”. We kissed each other and rested our heads together for a second. I took a deep breath “I love you…please be safe”. I got a beautiful smile from her, and she kissed me again “Ditto”. I stood up and walked toward the door, looking at her one last time before leaving.
                I had to half walk and half run to the gates to meet my brother and sister. They were both standing there waiting on me when I walked up, each looking at me like they were disappointed or something. I shook my head “Don’t start. Let’s just go”. To my relief, they didn’t say anything, but we did end up talking a little bit. “Have you decided on warning the other villages?” Konkuro asked, and I groaned a little inside. I did think about it, and even talked to Jensa about it, but I didn’t think they would like the answer. I shrugged “I decided to leave it a secret to the nations…however, I am going to warn Naruto about it”. Temari looked a little troubled “Gaara, why only warn one? We need to tell them all about this”. I shook my head “No we don’t. If he does rise then he will go straight towards the Leaf, due to his tomb being right between the leaf and our village. We’re already prepared, but they aren’t”. Temari was silent, but I knew she still disagreed. Konkuro took a deep breath “I think it’s a good idea. If you did tell everyone, the panic and mayhem would be outrageous. Naruto will keep it quiet, and take precautions”. I nodded “My thought’s exactly. The last thing we need right now is another war”. Temari crossed her arms and stared at the ground while we walked “I still think it’s a bad idea. They all need to be warned”. I didn’t say anything else because I didn’t want to argue right now. I had already made up my mind, and I am sticking to what I said.
                We finally reached the summit, and only 15 minutes late. We walked in to everyone around the table talking, then went silent when they saw me. Naruto beamed “Gaara! About time man!” He stood up and we hugged, then sat down together. I got comfy and sighed “Apologies everyone, I had to take care of some things before coming”. I could practically feel Temari’s eye roll, but ignored it all together. They all said it was fine, then we got started with the meeting. It went like it always does, boring and long. We just spoke about new measures we should take with trading and talked about things each village needed and who could help each other. I promised to send some materials to the Land of Water, and then Naruto and Darui talked about trading some goods they each needed.
                Finally, the time came to ask if there was anything each village needed to know. Any new dangers, and new materials, or any good news we needed to tell. Everyone shook their head no, and then I took the piece of paper out of my pocket that I’ve written for Naruto. I slipped it to him under the table, and he looked at me confused for a second. Then he opened it and read the “I need to speak with you privately, meet me outside afterward”. He folded the piece of paper up and placed it in his pocket, nodding slightly as he looked back around the table. The last time this happened between us Naruto needed protection, and had slipped me the note instead. Kurotsuchi stood up and sighed “Well then, since were all done I am going to excuse myself. It was nice seeing you gentlemen again”. She bowed and walked out of the door, then Chojuro and Darui did the same.
                Naruto and I walked out together, and then walked to the side of the building. He had Sauske and Shikamaru with him, just as he always did, and I stopped to turn and face him when I knew we were alone. “What is it Gaara? Everything alright?” He asked, and I shook my head “No, not at all”. He crossed his arms and waited for me to explain. “Listen, Naruto you need to keep this secret from the other villages. I don’t want them to go crazy and try something stupid”. He nodded and I took a deep breath, proceeding to tell him everything that has been going on and what we think is going to happen. I told him that Kami is close to his village, and he should be prepared just in case the Apolo’s fail.
                After I finished speaking, Naruto took a few seconds to let everything sink in. “How confident are you in the Apolo’s?” Sauske asked, and I looked at them “I believe they can do it. But I still think that anything could happen, and you should always be prepared for the worst”. Shikamaru rubbed his eyes “What a drag. If he gets resurrected it could be the end of everything”. I nodded “Yeah, and we are trying really hard for that not to happen”. Naruto took a long inhale, then met my gaze “How long do you have left?”. I tried my best to keep eye contact, but I failed “About a week”. Naruto looked a little pale for a second, but then he cleared his throat and smiled “Alright. If you believe in the Apolo’s then I will to. We will double our guard and be ready for anything. Just keep me posted on everything so we know if it’s solved or not. Also, we are here to help if you need us”. We shook hands and hugged good-bye “Thank you, I will be sure to let you know when anything happens”.

                After leaving the summit, everyone was quiet for the walk home. Konkuro and Temari must really be mad at me because of this. When we finally reached the village, I slowed down and looked at the gates. Our guards were standing there peering out into the distance, but something felt off to me. It was too quiet, and this nervous feeling crept over me. No matter what I did I couldn’t shake it off. Without any warning, fire started to fall from the sky, and we had to run for cover between the walls of the village.
                I ran to the siren and hit it, alerting the villagers to safety and alerting the shinobi to prepare for battle. Konkuro and Temari grabbed me and ran through the gates into the village. The Apolo’s were right there in an instant, and Lynn threw a shield around the whole village to protect it. Jensa ran up to me and I hugged her “I’m glad you’re alright” she said with relief, and I kissed her head “Of course I’m alright”. She looked at us and smiled “Lynn’s barrier will protect the village and keep them out. She can hold up to 5 force fields at a time, so don’t worry about it running out. You all stay inside, and we will deal with them”. I shook my head “What? No this is my village and I have to help protect it”. I heard James scoff “Listen, I know you want to help, but it will be better to stay out of the way. Trust us, they are stronger than you think”. I looked at him and he folded his arms “What?” I sighed and Konkuro placed his hand on my shoulder “Gaara, let it go. We will be here for back up and we will watch from the walls. Let them do what they do best”. James gave me a crooked grin “Exactly. We got this”. Jensa and I shared a kiss, then I had to watch the woman I love walk right into battle without me.

James POV
We walked out into the dessert, and was face to face with the Akkans. I was still a bit upset over the kiss between Jensa and Gaara, but I had to shake it off and focus. I might not like the idea, but I can’t let it distract me right now. I needed to pay attention, and I needed to breath. Jensa had told Luke to go for Ryuu again, and Luke summoned 20 warriors to stand behind him. Ryuu was already in dragon form, and he was massive this time. “Luke, you got this man or you going to need help?” He smiled and held onto Lynn’s hand “Nah I got help”. They shared a look and I felt a bit of anger go through me again. I thought about my sister and Gaara doing that, and it made me a bit pained. I was still upset over the fact they kept it secret and lied to me, but I was slowly getting over it. I saw Jensa turn toward the gates and smile when she saw Gaara watching us. I growled quietly, and her attention snapped back to me and then to the people in front of us. Yuki looked pissed, and he was watching me with a hard expression. Then he yelled “Your mine James!”, I smiled “Can’t wait”.
                Yuki started to charge at me, and everyone took off into position. I threw fire at Yuki, and he froze it in an instant. I thought about how the fire attacks might not work out so great. We finally reached each other and I dodged a punch to the face. He tried to hit me repeatedly, but I was too fast for him, and sent him flying with a solid punch to the temple. He laid there for a second, then started to laugh. He got up and looked at me “I can’t believe you didn’t know your sister was sleeping with the Kazakage”. Shock hit me hard, then it was nothing but anger and hate “Excuse me?”. He smiled “Oh my bad, did I strike a chord?”. I threw fire at him again, and he dodged it. This time when we fought, he didn’t shut up. “We’ve been watching for a while James! I can’t believe you didn’t realize them fucking in the next room!”. I began to get sloppy with my hits as the rage flooded me. Every time I tried to hit him I would miss, and he would laugh. That made me madder, and then he hit me harder than I have been hit before.
                I went flying backwards and landed on my feet. He continued to laugh, and I tried to breath and calm down. If I continued to do this, then I wouldn’t make it out of this battle. Yuki sighed “Oh James face it, your sister is easy”. I don’t remember moving in front of him, or slamming his face into a sand dune, but I did. The sand dune behind him collapsed from the force, and I heard sand fall into what sounded like water. He pushed me away and punched me in the face, but there was too much rage going through me to feel it. I punched his stomach, his face, and anywhere else you could imagine. He was taking it like a champ, and keeping up with me. Then, something I didn’t think would happen, finally did happen. With a huge push, he knocked me on my ass and froze me. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t even yell. Everyone around us was so into their battle they didn’t notice. I fought against it, but it was no use.
                Then, Yuki took an amulet out of his pocket and I knew what was happening. “This amulet drains powers the more you fight the person. So, you are pretty much useless now James”. I have never felt as helpless as I did now. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t scream, and I couldn’t fight back. I just had to lay here and take it. He leaned in close as a sharp ice crystal formed into his hand, and pointed it to my chest where my heart was. I looked over at Jensa, who was fighting Amaya right now. She was so beautiful, and I have been hard on her. I didn’t want to die, I needed to protect her…but It looks like it wasn’t going to happen. Yuki whispered into my ear “This is for killing my lover. Tell her I said hello”. He slammed the ice crystal into my chest, and I felt pain and agony fill my body. Yuki unfroze me so everyone could hear the scream escape my lips. Everyone stopped, and Yuki slid the crystal out of me, only to slam it in again.
                He stood up and called for everyone to retreat, then in an instant they were all gone. I felt Jensa grab me and everyone surround me. Jensa was in tears, and she was trying not to freak out “It’s okay, you’re okay”. I knew I wasn’t. I was already seeing black spots and I could feel the life draining away from me. I saw Gaara and a couple shinobi around me, and my eyes rested on Gaara. I wasn’t mad any more. I looked at Jensa and took a deep breath “Listen to me” I gasped out, and she tried her best not to break down again. Getting words out were harder than it looks, and I tried again “I love you…please don’t give up. I’m so sorry I was hard on you, I should have let you do your own thing”. Jensa shook her head “Stop it you’re fine. I love you to it’s okay. Please…Please don’t go”. She held onto me tight, and my team was in tears as well. Adam and I held hands and he smiled “I swear to God he is dead when I see that bastard”. I felt myself grin a little, then I slowly looked at Gaara. I knew I had to tell him this before I left, so I made him kneel to me. His arm was around Jensa tight, and he leaned in closer. I took a deep breath and winced at the pain “Gaara…I’m sorry. Please… she’s my world. Don’t let her get into trouble. Please…”. He placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled “I won’t let anything happen to her, I give you my word”. With that, I felt at peace, and I felt happy. I looked at Jensa, and she gave me a kiss on the head, before I whispered I love you, and slipped away to the darkness.
