The body under Kakashi’s arm moved, waking him. He groaned. “Time to go to work?” Kakashi crocked.
Sasuke reached for the lamp, rolling out of his grasp. He turned it on and Kakashi’s first view of his lover was him turning toward him with dark, squinting eyes and matted hair.
“It really is a crime that you’re still so good looking even when looking like shit.”
Sasuke smiled even while squinting. “Ditto.” He rolled back into bed and captured Kakashi’s lips. They both started laughing at the staleness of their mouths. At least they both tasted disgusting.
“Damn, I missed you so much,” Sasuke whispered against Kakashi’s mouth.
“I was drowning without you.”
“Never again.” He renewed their kiss. “Sakeyo is taking care of things today,” he explained as he snuggled down next to Kakashi.
“You do look dreadful,” Kakashi commented.
“Exhausted. I haven’t been sleeping all that well. If you weren’t in my bed, I wouldn’t have bothered with a shower.”
“It’s your bed. I don’t mind the way you stink.”
“Hn. Thanks. I don’t really like to get into bed dirty anyway.”
“Fastidious as a cat.”
Sasuke’s groan did sound like a cat’s purr.
Then they both realized why Sasuke had woken up: his stomach growled.
Kakashi chuckled. “I’m a bit hungry too.”
Sasuke got up. He was nude. He looked back to see Kakashi was also nude. Despite the innate scowling at mornings, Sasuke gave a small smirk.
“Did you even bring clothes with you?” Sasuke asked.
“Just what I was wearing, a yukata, and your coat.”
The smirk became larger. Sasuke went to a drawer and took out two pairs of boxers and threw one to Kakashi. “My clothes will have to do until I buy you new ones.” Kakashi had indeed left most of his few possessions and almost all his money in Konoha.
Kakashi stood to pull on Sasuke’s boxers. They were too big. “I’ve filled back out, but I’ve never been as broad as you, not even in the hips.”
“I like your slim hips. I’ll order food,” Sasuke said as he pulled on his robe. He went to the outer door and spoke a few words. By the time Sasuke shut the door, Kakashi was right behind him, his boxers threatening to slip from his waist. He turned Sasuke so that his back was against the wall and Kakashi crowded him.
“I noticed the remodel,” Kakashi said.
“Without you here, I really just sleep and shower here. I thought you’d want a little more independence and we’d need more room, so I had the kitchen added and expanded the bedroom.”
Sasuke was going to say more, but Kakashi kissed him. Sasuke had been planning on his return and such a thing would have taken weeks to excavate and force Sasuke from his room.
Sasuke smiled. It was such a wide, genuine smile it stretched his lips, pulling them from Kakashi’s.
“Stop smiling,” Kakashi said. He didn’t move his head back, keeping his face very close to Sasuke’s.
“Why?”
“Because it makes it hard to kiss you.”
“Hn.” He didn’t stop.
“Why are you smiling like that?”
“You’re more assertive this time. I like it.”
Kakashi grabbed Sasuke’s right hand and took two fingers into his mouth. Sasuke settled his head back against the wall and let Kakashi pleasure him. After a bit, he slid his left hand down Kakashi's abs. As much as he might hate that arm, he wanted to touch his lover. The more sensitive skin on his left hand registered the warmth and texture of Kakashi’s body as pleasure.
“Did you keep your promises?” Sasuke asked, breathlessly.
Kakashi pulled the hand away to kiss his palm. “I trained back up to my old standards, I didn’t fuck you over, and I didn’t die.”
Sasuke hummed in contentment.
Kakashi’s other hand strayed to Sasuke’s waist, slipping easily into his untied robe. His fingers strayed down to his hip around to the muscular ass under the boxers, and to the crease between his thigh and groin, avoiding Sasuke’s organ. His hand came to rest again on Sasuke’s waist.
Kakashi took his hands away and instead put his arms around Sasuke’s back. He leaned in to rest his head against Sasuke’s. Sasuke noticed his breathing was coming deeper and shaking. Sasuke abandoned any sexual touching as well and put his arms around Kakashi’s waist.
Sasuke understood by the way Kakashi’s body relaxed against his: he was relieved. Sasuke was too. His own breath became shaky as well.
“I love you.” Kakashi was surprised it was Sasuke who said it first.
“I gave up everything for you, and I would’ve even if I had anything left to give up.”
Sasuke’s arms gripped him tighter. “I was so angry when I found out how they treated you.”
“You knew?” Kakashi asked, feigning that Shou hadn’t told him.
Sasuke pulled back to look Kakashi in the face. “Of course. I have spies in every village,” he said with a smile. It died. “I didn’t think it would be that rough. I thought your reputation would stead you.”
“I think it was the only reason I wasn’t ‘retired.’”
With a face more serious and sober than ever, Sasuke said, “I would never have let that happen.”
“I believe you.”
“I had spies ready in case something like that happened.”
The sexual moment had passed. Sasuke had ordered food after all. “We should get dressed.” Sasuke smirked. “You can use some of my clothes for now.”
He gathered a few articles of clothing and presented them to his lover. Kakashi took them one at a time from Sasuke’s hands and dressed. The white, open front shirt was comically too large for him.
Sasuke smirked and grabbed the lapels to pull Kakashi closer. “I think I like you dressed in my clothes.” He gave him a brief kiss on the lips.
A knock at the door made Sasuke let go. He went back out where two men were depositing a pair of luscious breakfasts on the low table. Sasuke thanked them and the shinobi left.
Kakashi sat down to the best breakfast he’d had in an awfully long time. Not that Iruka wasn’t a good cook, but this was a meal made by the chef of an osa. He missed this place. He merely took a shower last night, he was looking forward to using that ufou, with or without Sasuke.
The first minute they concentrated on eating, but they both missed each other too much to just eat in silence. Even Sasuke found the silence empty. But after so long apart, where did one start?
There was something that Kakashi had been wondering about. “Were there more assassination attempts while I was gone?”
Sasuke smirked. “Two. One from Kumo and one from Konoha. The Kumo shinobi was expected. The Konoha assassin was a former member of Root. He was loyal to Danzo, so he had reason to hate me. I believe he was set on to attack me by more official parts of Konoha’s government. He was a disavowable assassin. My life was never in real danger. Shou made sure he’ll never be a threat again.”
Sasuke’s smirk turned into a smile when Kakashi’s eyes narrowed.
“I won’t leave your side again,” Kakashi said.
“I don’t intend to keep you leashed. Although, you would make an excellent head of ANBU.”
“No, thank you,” Kakashi responded emphatically.
“I wouldn’t do that to you. I already have a reliable secretary I trust and ANBU to guard the tower. You will be my most trusted shinobi, my sword. I promise I won’t turn you against Konoha. Don’t get me wrong, I want to keep you locked away in here where no one else can ever touch you or even look at you. But I love you too much to muzzle you. However, I would appreciate you teaching my ANBU a thing or two.”
“My pleasure. So, what is the situation now, politically?”
Sasuke took a few bites while he collected his thoughts. “I already told you the basics of why I had to send you back, but I’ll lay it all out. My alliance with Konoha keeps Kumo at bay; they cannot make any overt action against me or my country without risking war with Konoha as well. Even if Tsunade fears me, she cannot violate her treaty with me without sacrificing the validity of all her agreements. I could not allow anything to disrupt that alliance.
“Tsunade was the one who made the first move by sending you; capturing and torturing you was merely my counter. Keeping you, however, would cause an incident between our countries and that would spur Kumo into action.
“If I had to send you back, I wanted it to be worth something. I had you ‘run’ so you would be trusted, put in a position of trust. You could bring me something of value, but I couldn’t wait any longer. I regret it. It was stupid to use you for espionage. I’m so sorry.
“Having you ‘run’ also gave you the chance to change your mind, to rebuild your life in Konoha if that’s what you wanted. I gave you a choice and you chose to come back. Though, I guess they didn’t really give you choice.
“It also gave me time to fortify our position. Our defense has tripled, my alliance with the Land of Steel has been solidified, I’ve established a trade deal with the Land of Waterfalls, so they don’t feel as threatened anymore, and our ninja academy has just graduated its first year of young genin. The village and country are in a strong position now. Well, stronger, anyway.”
“If you wanted me to spy, why didn’t you say so before I left?”
“If I had given you orders, they would have found them in your memory. Our relationship was one thing; actual orders to spy would have been another. I don’t understand why they didn’t look in your mind. I feared they would see the truth about our relationship.”
“They did look, but I pushed my memories of the torture to the fore and that corroborated my report. They didn’t bother digging deeper. After you used your Sharingan on me, they did look, but I was able to warp the memory. I did tell Iruka about how I fell in love with an enemy shinobi and couldn’t get over him. I have to admit, I started a relationship with him, but I never loved him like I love you.”
“I wasn’t celibate either. I’m not jealous; I gave you no indication I would call you back.”
“I thought about coming back on my own, but I knew the political ramifications. I hoped you’d make a move. But I did engage in espionage. Despite all the work you’ve done, will this hurt you?”
“One reason I waited was preparing for the ramifications. Don’t worry about it. Yet.” Sasuke smirked. “I doubt Tsunade will actually do anything. She may saber rattle a bit, but I didn’t do a thing. It’s not my fault if one of her shinobi defects to my village. I don’t have a responsibility to return a defector.”
“Not in the treaty you signed?”
Sasuke gave an evil smirk. “Neither of us are required to give up defectors. I’m confident that I won’t lose anyone. She’s lost you, at the very least. I don’t believe people turn traitor; institutions create traitors. My father, and I for that matter, would not have thought of rebellion if the Second Hokage and Danzo had trusted our clan. You would probably not be here now if Tsunade had shown you more trust.”
“I’d still be here. I could have become Hokage, gotten married, had five kids, had everything and I would still return to you.”
Sasuke smiled. “I may not trust every person in the village, but I give them all the benefit of a doubt. I learned the lesson Konoha has yet to learn: distrust breeds traitors.”
They finished their meals. Kakashi leaned back on his hands. Sasuke tilted his head. Kakashi looked particularly relaxed and attractive like that. Dressed in his own open chested shirt made the sight downright sexy. The lack of a mask helped. The term ‘beauty mark’ was well named.
“If it wasn’t for my full stomach, I’d jump you right here on the floor.”
Kakashi smirked at him and rubbed at his face, uncomfortable having it uncovered for so long and it being stared at.
“In the meantime,” Kakashi said as he crawled over behind Sasuke and enveloped him in his arms. “I’m not leaving your side. For at least a week.”
“Well, I can’t take too much time off. You can join me in my office though. I do have a lot to teach you about my village.”
Kakashi kissed his cheekbone. “So, what mission did the osa have to carry out last night?” Kakashi asked.
“Dealing with some rogues to the east. I needed some exercise. I take the random job. I didn’t know when you’d arrive; I was getting anxious. People like it when their leader takes risks for them and does their own dirty work.”
Kakashi rubbed his cheek against Sasuke’s and was about so say something else when there was a knock on the door.
Sasuke froze to solid stone. Kakashi responded by separating himself slightly from the on-edge shinobi.
“That can’t be good. No one is to interrupt me.”
Kakashi leaned back so that Sasuke could stand. Sasuke unfolded himself and answered the door without caution, knowing it was his apprentice. Kakashi covered his face with a sleeved hand.
“Sorry, sensei, but a Konoha shinobi has surrendered to our border guard.”
Kakashi’s back straightened. Iruka?
“Who?” Sasuke demanded.
“Shiranui Genma.”
That surprised them both.
“They didn’t fully trust him either after you captured him,” Kakashi said, “but he was trusted far more than me. After I ran, he probably feared it would be worse for him.”
“Hn. Where is he now?”
“They’re on their way to the village.”
“Fetch an ANBU uniform for Kakashi, weapons and all. Bring it here quickly. We’ll go to my office and ten minutes after we go up there, bring him in.”
“Hai.”
She ran off and Sasuke shut the door.
“You trust him?” Sasuke asked.
“I do. He’s not a back stabber. We’re friends.”
“I will trust him.”
“If we’re going up to your office, I brought my houseplant with me.” He gestured to the little plant on the counter. “Ukki-san will need sunlight.”
Sasuke smiled. “I remember him. He can come up to my office; he’ll get sunlight there. I just hope my presence doesn’t poison him.”
Kakashi laughed lightly, suddenly fearing Sasuke might not be joking.
-----
Kakashi’s new uniform was mostly black with shades of grey, perfect for slinking in the shadows, similar to the one Shou wore. Sayeko brought him the ANBU mask as well, but he left that on his new dresser. She had great foresight and gave him a cloth mask as well since his normal mask was connected to a sweaty shirt. Once Kakashi was dressed, Sasuke came up and straightened his lover’s clothes then admired the ensemble. He didn’t say anything, but his eyes communicated enough.
Sasuke led Kakashi up to his office, Kakashi carrying Mr. Ukki. Once they stepped inside, Kakashi paused to look out the floor to ceiling windows; it was already afternoon. Sasuke continued to his desk and the low shelves and cabinets behind it. He stopped at the end closest to the window.
“Think he’ll be less gloomy here?” he asked.
Kakashi brought Mr. Ukki over and set him where Sasuke indicated. “I think he’ll like it here. I’ll come and water him every day.”
Sasuke smirked. “That will ensure I get to see you every day. Hn. I guess we need to take a picture of you without the mask for your records. I should have asked you to steal it from Konoha.”
“Oh, I did. That I prepared a week ago. I stole your file too.” Kakashi stood at Sasuke’s desk and summoned Pakkun. The little pug lifted a paw in greeting to Sasuke. “Yo.” He had a package on his back.
“Thanks for holding on to that,” Kakashi said as he unstrapped the small pouch. “I’ll summon the pack later to acquaint yourself with our new village.”
The pug saluted and vanished.
Kakashi presented a small stack of files. “I love you,” Sasuke said as he accepted them.
Sayeko knocked on the door. Sasuke got to his seat and Kakashi flanked him. Sayeko seemed to have a sixth sense; she opened the door as soon as they were ready. Genma followed close behind the young blonde.
“Shiranui Genma,” Sasuke greeted.
“Sasuke-sama.” His eyes darted to Kakashi in his new shinobi gear. “Um, I’d like to defect.”
“Your reason?”
“If you know how they treated Kakashi, they didn’t treat me that much better. Just being captured by you puts a stain on our trustworthiness. When he fled, I knew things would get worse for me, so I followed suit.”
“You’ll pledge your loyalty to my village?”
“I will.”
“Very well. I won’t force you to make any moves against Konoha. We have a free dormitory for shinobi. You are welcome to stay there as long as you like. Sayeko will take you there. Get settled tonight and in the morning come back here and Sayeko will interview you, learn where your skills lie so she will know how to use you.”
Genma looked at the teenager, surprised this young girl was apparently so involved in the deployment of much older shinobi.
“I give a level of trust to all those who come here,” Sasuke continued, “but Kakashi has vouched for you as well.”
“I’m sorry it’s come to this because of me,” Kakashi said to Genma.
“Don’t worry about it. My own fault for getting caught. Tsunade did you dirty. She’s too paranoid about the Sharingan.”
“If we weren’t allies, she’d be right to be,” Sasuke said. “Get settled and rest.”
“Yes, sir.”
Genma left with Sayeko.
“Thank you for giving him a chance,” Kakashi said.
“I give everyone a chance.” Sasuke stood up. “I may watch some more than others, but I do give them a chance to prove their sincerity. It’s how my village was established.”
Kakashi turned to the large window and stepped closer to look out at said village. “I missed this place. Not as much as you, but I fell in love with this village. I spied on it long enough.”
Sasuke came closer to him. “The Konoha we knew is dead. The only thing I recognized there was the monument. The architectural style is the same, but it didn’t feel like home.”
Kakashi turned to him and put his hands on either side of Sasuke’s neck to bring their faces closer and he leaned his forehead on Sasuke’s. “Our fathers’ village is dead, for better or for worse.”
“I promise you: this village will be better.”
“I trust you.” He kissed him. It started sweet and superficial, but neither could stop it from deepening. Kakashi pulled away. “We should close the curtains.” He went do just that.
Sasuke was in a daze. “Why?”
Kakashi went to the other side of the window and pulled the curtain nearly shut, leaving a small gap. “I can’t wait until we get downstairs.”
Kakashi crowded Sasuke against the front of his desk and sank to his knees. He untied Sasuke’s thin rope belt and pulled Sasuke’s pants down before Sasuke could register what was going on. He leaned back and sighed as Kakashi’s mouth enveloped his soft cock. It didn’t take long for Sasuke to harden on Kakashi’s tongue.
“You are more aggressive.”
Kakashi varied his technique, using his tongue more around the head, then using his lips on the shaft, sucking all the while. Sasuke’s mind wasn’t working that well at the moment, but he believed this was the best blowjob he’d ever received.
“Take them off,” Sasuke panted while rubbing his knee against Kakashi’s shoulder, trying to push his pants off that way.
Kakashi complied, not removing his mouth from Sasuke’s now hard cock while he stripped Sasuke of his pants and boxers.
Once freed, Sasuke brought his leg up and rested his thigh on Kakashi’s shoulder. Kakashi moaned and returned his full attention to sucking off his lover.
Sasuke gripped the edge of his desk as Kakashi brought him closer and closer to orgasm. He left one hand on the desk to brace himself, the other flew to Kakashi’s hair. He mused it and almost kneaded it, encouraging him. Sasuke was a sighing mess by the time he finally came. His body grew taut and his grip on Kakashi’s hair was like iron. His chocking moan sounded like he was dying from the pleasure. Then he deflated, lying back on his desk, boneless.
Kakashi rose from his position between Sasuke’s legs licking his lips. He stared down at his half naked lover and pushed his own pants down. His cock was arching upward and leaking with desire. He leaned into Sasuke, his cock sliding against Sasuke’s softened flesh. He pulled Sasuke’s thighs closer together so that they hemmed in his own. He caressed those long, muscular thighs.
Sasuke was still recovering, his breathing still not under control. He opened his eyes, blurred and soft.
“You are so beautiful,” Kakashi said.
Sasuke smiled at him. Kakashi was maskless of course having just sucked Sasuke off. Sasuke’s eyes grew more alert as he let them wander over Kakashi’s bare face. “You are more beautiful to me.”
Kakashi leaned down and Sasuke braced himself to meet him halfway and they kissed again, languidly. Kakashi pushed that open front shirt down off one shoulder, happy there was no zipper he needed to deal with. With Sasuke’s belt gone, the shirt had nothing to keep it in place.
“I don’t suppose you have any lube,” Kakashi said.
“I’m not that much of a pervert.” He lay back to think of an alternative. “I keep medical supplies in that cabinet.” He pointed back over his shoulder to the shelves and cabinets behind his desk on the furthest end from the window. “I don’t think ointment would hurt either of us.”
Kakashi went over and retrieved a tube. He returned to his previous position and used the ointment to coat his erection.
“Don’t bother prepping me,” Sasuke said, “I’m relaxed enough.”
Kakashi didn’t argue. Sasuke was already satisfied, but Kakashi was in dire need of release. To his relief, Sasuke’s body easily yielded to him. It may have been about a year since they were together, but Sasuke was utterly relaxed and wouldn’t care about pain now even it did hurt.
Kakashi didn’t know why, but Sasuke did feel different from Iruka. The tightness, the heat, something was different. Something made Sasuke’s body sweeter. He was like warm silk wrapped around him. Luxurious. There was no comparison.
He stopped once he was fully inside his lover and looked down at him, still laying there as if unable to move. Kakashi ran his hands down Sasuke’s body, from his strong pectorals, over his nipples, down his toned abs, to the dip and swell of his pelvis. His cock was still limp, but he could still feel the desire radiating off the younger man. He wrapped his hand around the soft flesh, rubbing his cock through the loose skin around it. Sasuke moaned pleasantly.
Kakashi released his organ and started to move within him. It began as gentle exploration, reacquainting himself with Sasuke’s body. He was overcome with lust soon enough. The force of his thrusts slid the desk back. Kakashi leaned over Sasuke to grab the edge of the desk on either side of Sasuke’s head, but that did little to stop the movement of it.
Sasuke tried to squeeze Kakashi’s body with his legs, but he didn’t have the strength and Kakashi was moving with too much passion to hold him. Not that Sasuke wanted him to slow down.
“Kakashi, fuck,” Sasuke struggled to say. He’d just climaxed, but he came nevertheless with a small dry orgasm that left him gasping.
Kakashi grabbed Sasuke’s shoulder and his waist, his hips quickened their pace and soon his rhythm faltered. The rough sound coming from his throat as he came nearly gave Sasuke a third orgasm. He could feel the vibrations in his body even as he felt the swell and twitching of Kakashi’s ejaculation.
Kakashi put his hands on the desk to hold himself up while the ecstasy flowed through him, his head hanging. Then he opened his eyes and tilted his head up to stare at Sasuke’s face. “I’m addicted to you.”
“Hn. If that were true, you’d have been going through withdrawal this past year.”
“I was.”
Sasuke’s voice lost the deep, smirking confidence it normally held. “Me too.”
Kakashi lay gingerly on top of Sasuke, resting his head on Sasuke’s chest, his cock slipping out of his slick body.
Sasuke had neglected to put on any kind of deodorant, but that was alright. It wasn’t the acrid sweat smell from over exertion, just the warm, spicy scent that was uniquely Sasuke. It was comforting and calming to him.
Finally, Kakashi stood, but Sasuke didn’t want to move just yet. Kakashi realized the state they were both in and looked around for something to clean up with.
“All I can offer you is a tissue,” Sasuke said. He reached over to the box that had shifted from its normal position but hadn’t fallen from the desk. He handed Kakashi one. Sasuke took another for himself and sat up, bringing his heel up to brace on the desk and lean forward to wipe up the mess between his cheeks. The pose reminded Kakashi of a dog licking his balls, but Sasuke looked oddly sexy anyway.
“Think we can make it downstairs before round two?” Sasuke asked as he tossed the tissue in his trash can.
“I think we can manage.”
Sasuke stood and pulled his pants back on. He took a deep breath and blushed. “I don’t think Sayeko will appreciate the smell of sex lingering in here.”
Kakashi felt guilty. “I forgot she was running things today.” He pulled his own clothes back on.
Sasuke opened one of the curtains. The wall was a series of windows, some of which could be opened. Sasuke opened one. “Hopefully, that will ease the smell.”
Kakashi tied his mask back on and they left the office.
Right before they rounded a corner on their way downstairs, Sasuke stopped. Kakashi continued but pulled out a kunai. He caught an attacker’s kunai with it. Behind it was a familiar masked ANBU.
There wasn’t a lot of room in this corridor, but the two were experienced in close quarters combat. The fight was swift and brutal. It ended with Kakashi grabbing the ANBU’s wrist, twisting him around and pressing his chest against the wall.
“Welcome back,” Shou said in defeat.
“Good to be back.” Kakashi released him.
Sasuke sighed. “Children.”
-----
Iruka’s morning wasn’t as pleasant as Kakashi’s. He reached out to Kakashi’s side of the bed as he woke, but his hand landed on empty bed. That wasn’t very unusual, Kakashi did use the bathroom or have trouble sleeping and retreat into the living room or kitchen. No cause for concern. Perhaps he was even making them both breakfast.
Iruka got up and peeked into the bathroom then went out into the rest of the apartment. Kakashi wasn’t there. He looked around and noticed the note on the table. Maybe he was needed for a mission or planning one. Or something. He took it up with a growing sense of dread.
Iruka,
First off, I want to assure you I never lied to you. I do love you and you have been the one thing that kept me sane and alive these last few months. Your kindness knows no bounds and I have come to treasure you. But I did warn you I would break your heart.
Despite all my efforts, I am still not trusted. I can’t live like this. Not only that, but I am tired of the political games I’m forced to participate in. I wasn’t sent back to Konoha to spy and your faith in me was justified. But I can’t live like this anymore.
The dread solidified into certainty that this was a suicide note. But as he continued to read, he realized what Kakashi was really saying.
I have no future in this village anymore. But I do in Kazaguruma. I’m returning to Sasuke. I never lied about what he did, but he assured me that it was mostly business, with a bit of genuine lust. What I failed to report is that after I broke, the torture ended. Yes, I was a prisoner, but he nursed me back to health. It was with a heavy heart that I returned to Konoha.
And so, I must now tell you the one secret I kept from you. His name. The name of the man I fell in love with and pine after. Uchiha Sasuke. I am returning to him. When I saw him again, he assured me that he did love me and asked me to return. I falter myself that his pale condition is because he missed me as much as I did him.
If I’m caught on my way there, I will be executed. If I make it, I will never return. Regardless, this is goodbye. You deserve so much better than me.
With my love and gratitude,
Kakashi
He drew a Henohenomoheji under his signature.
There was an envelope under this letter addressed to Tsunade. Iruka tearfully took the first letter and hid it in a book then read the second. It explained how the lack of trust made him feel and that he wasn’t sent to spy but that the distrust he was shown drove him to defect.
He’d barely finished reading it when there was a knock at his door. He wasn’t surprised to see four masked ANBU there. He just handed them the letter addressed to Tsunade.
“I didn’t know,” he said and shut the door on them.
-----
Their libidos hadn’t been dampened in the least by their tryst in the office or Shou’s violent greeting. They were naked and on the bed within a minute of returning to their rooms.
Kakashi fell back, barely able to straighten up before Sasuke was on him. He attacked Kakashi’s chest first, his left hand clutched around the glass vial of lubricant. Sasuke was desperately licking Kakashi’s body, his right hand caressing and rubbing at Kakashi’s side and hip.
Sasuke licked his way down to Kakashi’s hips. He focused for some time on Kakashi’s flat stomach. As Kakashi breathed and tensed with the lust growing within him, his abdominal muscles came into sharp relief. Sasuke growled in lust. He slicked his fingers and started to prepare Kakashi while he continued to reacquaint himself with Kakashi’s body.
Kakashi’s body was tight so Sasuke took his time relaxing his muscles. “At least I know you didn’t let anyone fuck you in the last year.”
“I only slept with Iruka; I only topped.”
“I didn’t have slept with anyone. Either way.”
“But you said you did. You said you weren’t celibate.”
“Yeah, I do have sex with them and BDSM is intimate, but the sex is just about pleasure and the culmination of all the pain and pleasure for them, and dominance and sadism for me. I remain aloof. I don’t ‘sleep’ with them. I do care for them as they recover, but it’s not my favorite part; I never open myself to them. Just to you. I’m intimate with only you. Nevertheless, I haven’t let anyone else fuck me since you left.”
“You didn’t need any prep.”
“Relaxed and much more experienced in general than you.”
“You have a thing for patronizing your elders.”
“I do,” Sasuke agreed with a smirk. He capped off the conversation by taking Kakashi into his mouth.
Sasuke moved his tongue up and down the underside of Kakashi’s cock quickly while he rubbed the head with the transition of his hard and soft palates. That movement of the rough side of Sasuke’s tongue teased out several small spurts of precum.
Sasuke took full advantage of Kakashi’s ecstasy and added a third finger to opening Kakashi’s entrance. He wasn’t any looser, in fact he was a little tighter, but he was quite distracted.
Mouth overflowing with a mixture of his saliva and Kakashi’s precum, Sasuke left off sucking on Kakashi’s cock, leaving it soaking and shinning in the lamp light.
“I can’t hold back any longer,” Sasuke confessed. He sat up between Kakashi’s legs.
Kakashi looked down to see Sasuke’s angry erection straining upward. The sight made his own erection twitch. “Do it,” Kakashi urged.
“Careful what you wish for. We can have sex a hundred times and I will still be desperate to make up for a year apart. I still feel like I’ve waited a year, not an hour.”
“I’ve longed for you for a year. Hurry.”
Sasuke didn’t take a moment to smirk, just guided his cock to its destination. Kakashi pulled his balls up to make the journey easier. Sasuke was entranced by the sight; he aborted his intent and pushed Kakashi’s thighs wider.
“I am attracted to both men and women, but you’re the only man I would call beautiful.” He caressed Kakashi’s scrotum with his thumb. Then lower. Then lower, rubbing his entrance with circles that served to relax it and tighten it in turns.
“We’ve had enough foreplay, Sasuke.”
“I’m afraid I might cum the moment I penetrate you.”
“I won’t begrudge you that.”
Sasuke’s eyes darkened. He knew Kakashi would find relief on his own if Sasuke failed him. His pride was now on the line.
Kakashi was still tight, but the prep made the way easy. Sasuke moaned as Kakashi’s body consumed him. He had penetrated others in the last year, but none were so delicious as this.
It was uncomfortable for Kakashi. Like the first few times, his insides cramped a little. His body did not want to yield but yield it did. Kakashi hadn’t realized he was holding his breath until he gasped for air when Sasuke’s cock nudged his prostate. The feeling of Sasuke’s cock within him was strange after so long. But so fulfilling. So satisfying.
Fully seated within him, Sasuke groaned and rolled his neck. His eyes were vacant. His hands blindly sought Kakashi’s raised knees. Once they found them, he rubbed up and down the length of his thighs. That action seemed to ground him and wake him of his daze. He looked down at him with more awareness and started to slowly move. It didn’t take long for pleasure and Sasuke’s heat to ease Kakashi’s cramp.
Sasuke thrust in with quick power, but withdrew more slowly. He dared not move too quickly lest he finish too early. He leaned down over him to make love to him rather than focus on fucking him. He propped himself on an arm and slowly moved his hips.
Kakashi raised his hands to caress Sasuke’s straining body. His weapon calloused hands moving over Sasuke’s nipples made Sasuke shudder. Kakashi rubbed his chest as Sasuke moved more vigorously. Kakashi slid his hand up to Sasuke’s neck, to his jaw. He rubbed Sasuke’s lips with two fingers. Sasuke eagerly took them into his mouth.
One hand panted on the bed, Sasuke grabbed Kakashi’s shoulder with the other, trying to ground himself as his cock moved through Kakashi tight body and his tongue teased those fingers in his mouth. Kakashi’s other hand continued to explore Sasuke’s chest.
Sasuke tried to enjoy the feelings coiling in his body without coming, but his blood was not so cold. The hand on Kakashi’s shoulder went to Kakashi’s cock. He would not allow himself to cum before Kakashi, but he needed to cum.
They were now both filled with desperation, both to cum and for each other. Sasuke pushed Kakashi’s fingers from his mouth. He eased his body down to Kakashi’s and kissed him. Kakashi pushed his hips up to meet Sasuke’s. Sasuke’s real hand sought out Kakashi’s and knotted their fingers together.
In a haze of passion and lust, they didn’t know which came first or if it was at the same time. They panted, taking in the same breath. Sasuke sinuously moved his body against Kakashi’s. Both sated but both still craving each other.
Soon, Sasuke fell to Kakashi’s side and tucked in close.
No matter the time of year, it was cold underground. Feeling their heightened body heat starting to seep away, Kakashi grabbed at the blanket and covered them both before they could feel a chill.
“That was almost worth waiting for,” Kakashi said.
“Nothing was worth this last year.”
Kakashi thought about Iruka. He didn’t hate the time he spent with him. He really did come to love Iruka. Just not as deeply as Sasuke. He valued Iruka. He was addicted to Sasuke. But distrust, bored, depression, and shame had filled this year. “Yeah, I agree. But it will make the rest of our time together just a little bit sweeter.”
“Hn,” Sasuke agreed.
“I can’t believe I doubted you for even a moment. I did wonder if you really did love me. I’m sorry I doubted you.”
“It’s okay. I’ll admit something to you: I did lie to you once. Just the once. I said I didn’t love you before you were captured. The truth is, I had a crush on you long before that.”
“How long?”
“It was after Zabuza and Haku died. Haku nearly killed me and you had overused your Sharingan. We recuperated together while Naruto and Sakura watched over Tazuna. Even though the threat to him had passed, they watched him. It gave us time to heal. You spent most of the time reading that damn book. I didn’t speak to you because I didn’t understand my emerging feelings.”
“I thought you were sleeping from blood loss.”
“I was thinking about your Sharingan and how I admired you. I thought you were a lackluster, humorless, old shinobi when you opened the door and got hit by Naruto’s prank. I learned to respect you during the bell test. I guess I started to admire you when I saw you fight. You were also much younger than I first thought. I had little to judge your age other than your hair and one hooded eye, but I realized you were maybe twice my age at the time. I didn’t have any family or even close friends to talk to about my feelings, so I hid them.
“As I said, I didn’t think of you sexually back then. That came about while I was with Orochimaru. I realized I was bisexual during that time. I tortured and had sex with primarily men at the time, but I was attracted to women. Sakura and Karin weren’t my type. Ino and that jounin, Anko, they were more my type. And Hinata when I saw her during the war. Don’t ever tell Naruto that.”
“Never,” Kakashi agreed.
“The day I left, when you told me that everyone you cared about was already dead, if I wasn’t so angry, my heart would have bled for you. A few days later, after I calmed down, I thought about you. My heart bled then. I realized how alike we were, but you were calm while all I wanted was revenge. I thought maybe if I could grieve with you, be held by you, I might be able to accept it and give up on revenge and be like you. But I needed to confront Itachi. I fell in love with you then. Maybe it was just the idea of you. I’m sorry; you reached out to me and I left.”
Kakashi held him tighter. “You were always my favorite. I saw myself in you from early on. I did love you, just not in the same way I do now.”
“So, the truth is, I’ve loved you for a long time. I just couldn’t let myself admit it to anyone else. Especially after what I did. I walled away those feelings after I left Konoha for good. I promised I would forget those feelings and move on. Then you came here. You were unconscious when I first came to see you. That wall crumbled and so did I. I loved you still.”
Kakashi caressed Sasuke’s hair. “I never stopped caring about you. It didn’t take much to make me fall in love with you.”
Sasuke hummed contentedly and fell asleep. Kakashi cuddled him until he too lost consciousness.
-----
Tsunade had some sympathy for Iruka and visited him rather than summon him to her office. The man was grieving, that was clear. She barely had the heart to ask him anything.
“I tried so hard,” he said. “But every time I made some progress with him, something would drag him back down. More than anything, it was the distrust. He knew he was being watched; he knew you didn’t trust him. Sasuke may have tortured him, but I think they still trusted each other. Despite what he did, Kakashi still cared for Sasuke.
“I believe he truly did love me, but I could see this life grinding him down every day. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I’m relieved. It was hard to be happy when it took effort for him to act normal. I loved him dearly, but I was being ground down too. I just hope he’s happier now.”
A tear slid down his cheek. “I didn’t know he was planning to leave. But he did seem so much happier after he saw Sasuke again. He must have told him that he would be welcome in his village. More welcome than he was here,” he said with bitterness.
He didn’t ask leave, he didn’t ask Tsunade to go, he just stood and went to his bedroom, shutting the door behind him.
Tsunade realized she had turned two shinobi against her with her distrust; she would not allow Iruka to feel the way Kakashi had.
-------------------------
Sasuke traveled with three others back to Konoha.
Kakashi and Genma had defected a year and a half ago. The official story told to the general populace, and Naruto and Sakura, was that the two jounin left with permission as sort of permanent ambassadors to their ally. Those who knew the truth were forbidden to speak of it. Not that that could stop the rumor of the truth from spreading. To those at the top of the village, Kakashi and Genma were traitors who were to be killed on sight.
Sasuke entered the village with his three guards. There was a celebratory atmosphere that made the anti-social Uchiha withdraw a bit. He had asked Sayeko if she wanted to come, but she preferred to remain and run things while he was gone. His companions were masked ANBU.
They were momentarily stopped by the gate guard then escorted to the Hokage’s office.
Tsunade was a bit tense, but they greeted each other cordially.
“As per your request, we’ve arranged a small, isolated house for your stay near the edge of the village,” Tsunade said.
“Thank you. I don’t intend to remain more than four days.”
“The ceremony is tomorrow.”
Sasuke nodded and waited to be dismissed.
“How are my shinobi?”
“Your shinobi? If they were yours, they wouldn’t be in my village. Your former shinobi are doing well. Kakashi wanted to attend, of course, but that’s impossible under the circumstances.”
She waved him away. It was a rude dismissal to a sato-osa, but she definitely saw him as lower than a Kage. Sasuke didn’t complain. He and his people followed their escort out to the edge of the village and the small, but well-appointed house.
The rest of the village heads, osa and Kage, would be staying at a luxury hotel built in the past year. Sasuke wanted to be away from the other village leaders, but there were other reasons he wanted his privacy.
They were just getting settled when the front door was flung open and an energetic blond ran into the room and flung himself on Sasuke. They’d all sensed him coming so no one tried to kill the intruder.
“I’m so happy you came!” Naruto exclaimed, still hanging onto his best friend.
“I told you I would come to your wedding.”
“And you’ll still be my best man?”
“If that’s what you want.”
Naruto let him go. “Of course, it’s what I want. You’re my best friend! Iruka’s going to act as my father. Hinabi is the chef bride’s maid. Sakura, Ino, and Tenten will also be bride’s maids. All the other guys are going to be my groomsmen. Gaara said no to be being a groomsman; he just wants to be a guest.”
Naruto deflated a little. “I just wish Kakashi could be here. Baa-chan said he couldn’t because of the rumors that he defected to your village rather than being sent.”
“Well, he really did want to be here, so . . .” Sasuke turned to one of his ANBU. His hair was black when he pulled the hood of his cloak back, but when he pulled away his ceramic mask, there was Kakashi, his cloth mask ever in place. He’d dyed and gelled back his hair for this occasion.
“Kakashi-sensei!” Naruto exclaimed and hugged the older man.
“I couldn’t miss your wedding,” Kakashi said. “But no one else can know I’m here, alright?”
“I understand. But what about Iruka?”
Kakashi wasn’t sure what Iruka told Naruto, but since Naruto didn’t seem to be mad at him, Iruka must have constructed a believable lie.
“Probably best he doesn’t know I’m here. If he’s moved on, he doesn’t want his ex-boyfriend around. I don’t want him to be depressed on your big day. It’s best we stay away from each other. How was he doing after I left?”
“Depressed. He assured me it wasn’t your fault, that he knew you would be leaving eventually. He’s much better now.”
“I’m glad. I never wanted to hurt him.”
“He probably won’t be happy to see me,” Sasuke added.
“No, but I don’t think he’ll make a scene about it,” Kakashi said. He turned his attention back to Naruto. “I’m so very proud of you.”
“Thanks. Can I tell Sakura you’re here? Or Hinata?”
“Better not. I don’t know Hinata that well and I was least close with Sakura, so I’d like no one else to know I’m here.”
“They don’t think you’re a traitor.”
“I’m glad, but really, no one else should know, okay?”
“Okay.”
-----
Kakashi hid like a good ANBU near Sasuke during the ceremony. Though it was Naruto’s day, Kakashi kept looking at Sasuke. Not as a guard, but as a lover. They would never get married or even publicly acknowledge their relationship. People knew, of course, but they never engaged in public displays of affection. But people knew.
Kakashi didn’t think that would bother him but attending a ceremony like this with his lover made him regret they couldn’t be more official than they were. Having to hide in tree and being unable to touch him added to his melancholy.
That and seeing another of his ‘kids’ getting married did make the legendary jounin cry. Just a little.
After the ceremony ended, he remained hidden as Sasuke was pulled around by Naruto to enjoy the reception. All Naruto’s other friends eventually captured the blond’s attention and Sasuke was able to slip to the back of the room where he could be unnoticed. A lot of people still didn’t like or trust Sasuke, but they chose to just ignore him on Naruto’s big day.
Sasuke finally had enough and went over to Naruto. He embraced him and gave him a final congratulations. He bowed to Hinata. “You are both always welcome to my village.”
“Thank you, Sasuke-kun,” Hinata said.
“You’re leaving already?” Naruto asked.
“I’m not comfortable at gatherings like this. I won’t be leaving Konoha until the day after tomorrow.”
“We’ll get together tomorrow,” Naruto promised.
“You should probably spend tomorrow with your new wife. Come see me the next morning.”
“Okay.”
He bowed them again and left.
-----
Once back in their small refuge, Kakashi and the third ANBU, Yokuto, appeared and the three of them deposited all the food they stole on the table. Shou came out of the second bedroom; he’d slept while they were gone, having absolutely no interesting in guarding his osa during a wedding. He would take the night watch guarding them. The four of them sat down to their own private feast away from strangers and stares. Though they were an osa and his guards, they ate like a lowly shinobi team eating takeout.
“Why do they always serve salmon at weddings?” Yokuto complained.
“At least it’s decent salmon,” Sasuke said.
“You didn’t bring back enough cake,” Shou commented.
“We hate cake,” Kakashi explained. “You two can have it all.”
“Please don’t serve salmon at your guys’ wedding,” Yokuto begged.
“We’re not getting married,” Kakashi said.
“What about Aika?” Yokuto asked.
“I won’t marry her either,” Sasuke said. “I’d break every vow within a day since I’m in love with this bastard. The only reason to marry her is give her legal rights as the Uchiha matriarch. Since I make the laws in The Land of Windmills, I can just give her those rights. No reason to make a bunch of false vows.”
“As long as she doesn’t mind just being an Uchiha baby making machine,” Yokuto said.
“She had fair warning.”
“Well, I vow not to serve salmon when I marry Sachiko,” Shou said.
“Thank you,” Yokuto said.
“Speaking of Aika, are you taking bets yet on whether it’s a boy or a girl?” Shou asked Sasuke.
“Huh?” Yokuto exclaimed.
“His kid,” Shou explained.
“Aika’s pregnant?” Yokuto asked. “When were you going to tell me?! I’m one of your bodyguards!”
“Now you know,” Sasuke said.
“Really, we just found out for sure right before we left,” Kakashi said.
“Well, I’m putting down for boy,” Yokuto said.
“Me too,” Shou added.
“I’m betting on a girl,” Kakashi said.
“No idea,” Sasuke said. “Either way, I’ll be happy.”
“Going to remain living underground?” Shou asked.
“I’d like to, but I don’t want my children to grow up like that. Our rooms aren’t big enough anyway.”
“I was thinking we could expand upward,” Kakashi said. “We’re on the third sub-level, they could sleep in the first and second and have a house on top to actually live in, but we could all sleep safely underground.”
“That’s an idea,” Sasuke mused.
They had a merry feast of stolen reception food and hung out talking afterward. Then they all stilled as a presence approached. The three ANBU put on their masks and stood. Shou opened the door before their guest could knock.
“Iruka,” Sasuke greeted.
“Sasuke. Can speak alone?”
“Under the circumstances, I think my guards should remain.”
“I’m no threat to you.”
“Few are, but here they stay.”
Iruka glanced at the three ANBU, then returned his attention to Sasuke. “How is he?”
“Well. Happy.”
“Why did you do it?”
“The torture? I’m sure he told you: I’m a sadist. He’s at fault too, too stubborn to admit what I already knew. But I assure you, I love him. I did even when I ordered his torture. I could not put my personal feelings before business. I am sorry for your pain, Iruka, but I did nothing aimed at you. I know Kakashi regrets the pain he caused you.”
“He told you that?”
“Of course. He’s been circumspect about your time together, but he did love you. May I assure him you’re well?”
Iruka glanced at the statue like guards. He suspected one might be Kakashi, but none gave anything away. All had black hair and were distinguishable only by their height, which really didn’t tell Iruka anything.
“Yes.”
“I will tell him. You’ve not suffered any distrust because of your association with him, have you?”
“No. No, just pity.”
“He wasn’t a spy for me. The only thing I think he might have deceived you about was his relationship with me.”
“I still trust him.”
“Good. That, he still deserves.”
“He said he did doubt your feelings for him.”
“I did send him away.”
“So, you did let him go.”
“Yes. I told him to escape. I wanted to prevent a diplomatic crisis and I wanted to give him a chance to change his mind about us. But he chose to come back. I didn’t mean to ruin his reputation here; I thought he’d be welcomed home. I was wrong. If I had known . . . I might have let him stay. I called him back because I was in a better political situation. I can protect a defector now.”
Iruka didn’t know how to politely end their conversation, so he just turned to leave.
“Thank you, Iruka,” Sasuke said. Iruka turned back to look at him. “Thank you for taking care of him. I fear what might have happened if he didn’t have you. Thank you.”
Iruka just nodded in acknowledgment of the thanks and left.
“At least he didn’t bitch slap you,” Shou said.
Sasuke huffed.
“I’m sure he would me if I revealed myself,” Kakashi said.
“At least you’d deserve it.”
“Yeah, I probably do.”
The pair retired into their temporary bedroom. Yokuto would sleep in the second bedroom and Shou slipped out to guard the house.
“Was there any person or place you wanted to visit while we’re here?” Sasuke asked. “Naruto should be enjoying his first day of married bliss.” He said it with a little of scorn.
“I better not. Sounds like there’s a kill on sight order for me. I don’t want to tempt fate.”
“I would never let that happen.”
“No need to start a war over some sightseeing.”
“I am getting bored, but with a baby on the way, war isn’t a good idea.”
Kakashi wrapped his arms around him. “No, it’s not.”
Sasuke melted. “Are you sure you’re not jealous of Aika?”
“Naw. I was a little jealous of Naruto though.”
“Don’t nuzzle my ear.”
“Yes, please, don’t nuzzle his ear,” Shou whined from the window. “I can hear everything from here.”
“I don’t feel that comfortable here to go all the way,” Kakashi said.
“Naruto probably is right now,” Sasuke mused.
“Yeah, but he isn’t in enemy territory. We’ll make up for time when we get home.”
Kakashi followed Sasuke into bed. He spooned his younger lover. It was Naruto’s wedding night, but Kakashi and Sasuke were already firmly wedded. Though they may never be able to marry, they were already starting a family. Sasuke may have needed a woman to grow their family, but he didn’t doubt Sasuke’s feelings. He was indeed finally happy.
