He was covered in blood. Katana in his hand dripping with the blood of the enemy ninja scattered dead around him. Sharingan spun wildly as he turned, trying to pick up any movement. Tied to a tree shaking and crying stood Kyusuke. Sasuke could feel the adrenalin and blood lust pooling in his stomach. Naruto should have been back by now, but he had been delayed. Sasuke had permitted Kyu to walk alone to the Nara’s home, instead his son had gone to the training grounds outside the walls. Sasuke didn’t know when Kyu had been taken but he knew three hours had passed since his child had walked away from him. There was a feeling the Uchiha hadn’t been able to shake so he’d gone to check on the youngest Uzumaki. He, Shikamaru, and Neji had searched everywhere. When it was obvious foul play had been used the Nara gathered Kiba and Akamaru and the five ninja, without permission, set out in search of the boy.
Each had prayed that the boy had just wandered too far but they knew deep down that Kyusuke knew the way home and he would never go out that far. As they passed the borders of the village the four men separated broadening their search. Sasuke had the good fortune of stumbling upon the kidnappers. Originally he’d intended to get the others and take prisoners of the enemy ninja whose mission had been to kidnap the Jinjuriki’s child. The plan had been the right thing to do but one of the men had back handed Kyusuke who had been bad mouthing the group as cowards. In that moment Sasuke had lost it, massacring the entire squad in a few seconds flat.
Shikamaru was untying the quivering boy when Sasuke snatched him up. He held Kyusuke close uncaring of the blood he smeared across the child. “Let’s get back. I want him checked over by Tsunade.” Kiba had tried to take Kyu once but threat of having his throat slit kept anyone else from trying. Sasuke carried his child back through the gates of Konoha and was not surprised to see an ANBU escort waiting for him. Pressing a kiss to Kyusuke’s forehead he whispered into the boy’s ear.
“You need to go with Shikamaru. Do NOT run off. DO you hear me? You don’t leave his side. Your Dad will be back soon, I’m going to make sure he knows what happened so he can come get you.” Sasuke said, hugging Kyusuke tightly.
Kyusuke held tight looking up. “I want to stay with you.” His voice was hoarse and scratchy from yelling and screaming.
Sasuke swallowed and pulled the clinging child from him, passing the boy to Shikamaru. “I have to go with the AMBU. I broke the rules.”
“So you get a time out? That’s dumb!” Kyusuke looked at the AMBU guard mulishly.
“Kyu, go with Shikamaru and get cleaned up.” Sasuke’s voice brooked no further argument. Glancing at the guards he waited until Shikamaru had turned and taken Kyusuke far enough away not to see what was happening. “Thank you for waiting until he was gone.” He whispered as the chakra controlling cuffs were clicked into place on his wrists. Sasuke held his head high as he was led through the streets to Hokage tower.

Naruto come home within hours of the message arriving. Sasuke had personally sent a summons to him before leaving the bloodied clearing. He’d taken no time to even tell his team where he was going or why. As soon as he’d arrived the blond had gone directly to Sasuke’s, shocked to find the house empty. The summons had clearly said Sasuke had their son and that he was safe.
“He’s not here.” Kiba jumped down, Akamaru whimpering at his side. “ANBU took him away and Shikamaru has Kyusuke.” Kiba took a deep breath and shook his head. “I don’t like him. Hell I pretty much want to punch his pretty face in. But he loves Kyusuke, Naruto. If I hadn’t seen it myself, I don’t think I’d have believed it. He slaughtered those ninja. One of them hit Kyu and he just went off.” Kiba stuffed his hands into his pockets.
Running hands over his face and then through his hair, Naruto calmed down. Sasuke had taken care of it. That shouldn’t bring him any sort of peace, but it did. Of all the people he trusted, of all the people in his life that had stood by his side, Sasuke was the one he had unyielding belief in. The Bastard didn’t deserve it. Didn’t deserve that place in his heart that he’d always had. He didn’t deserve to have that place growing as Naruto watched his son open up and saw Sasuke become more of a part of their son’s life.
Naruto turned heading to the Nara lands. “The ANBU picked him up?” Naruto didn’t want the answer, he was pretty sure he knew why.
“We had to go outside of the village boundaries to get him back, Naruto.” Kiba followed not saying more. He knew Naruto didn’t want to hear it. To hear that Sasuke was going to be punished for rescuing their child.
“That’s bull shit.” The future Hokage growled. As soon as he passed the gates of Shikamaru’s clan, the tiny black haired bundle slammed into his body sobbing.
“They took him! Dad you have to help him. They took Sasuke. He’s in jail. He didn’t do anything bad! He’s in jail because of me.” Crying so hard he was shaking Kyusuke clung to his father. “Please help him Dad.”
Holding his son tightly Naruto felt tears of relief fill his eyes. He didn’t know what he would do if he’d lost his son, “I’ll try. I promise Chibi, I’ll try.”

Three days, three days in solitary with no visitors, no answers to his questions. Sasuke knew the elders were trying to find a way to deal with his defiance of the rules while respecting that he did it for his child. He lay down on the cot in the corner and closed his eyes. Deep breathing seemed to put him to sleep and in his dreams he was with his family. Naruto had forgiven him, Kyusuke was calling him dad, and things were right.
“Thank you.” Naruto’s voice pulled him out of his meditative state and forced Sasuke to sit up.
“He’s our son. It’s my job. I should have walked him to Shikamaru’s. I broke the rules first. I don’t even remember why I didn’t but I’m sure it wasn’t a good reason.” Sasuke moved toward the bars holding him captive.
Looking down Naruto sighed. “It probably would have happened at some point anyway. They were hired to do it. Kyusuke was a target.”
“Is a target, which means I need to be more vigilant. I won’t let it happen again Naruto. As soon as I’m out of here I’m putting a tracking device on that Kid.”
Smiling Naruto sighed, “They’re talking about a prison sentence. One a few months, but there is some concern that if they let you off lightly others will use it to think they’ve gone soft.”
Sighing Sasuke sat. “They can’t do this. He is just starting to trust me.” Looking up at Naruto, Sasuke leaned forward. “I love you.”
Blinking, the Uzumaki stepped back in shock. “Sasuke I can’t…”
“You do too, if you didn’t it wouldn’t be so hard for you to face me. I’ve proven myself to Kyusuke, let me prove myself to you. I’m not going anywhere without both of you.” Sasuke pressed, he couldn’t face losing Naruto too. This entire mess had scared him like nothing had before. He couldn’t lose another family.
Naruto was now pressed into the bars of the cell opposite Sasuke’s. “Sasuke I told you. Please don’t do this. It is great that you are close with Kyusuke but you left me. You left me and ran from me and I don’t think there is enough of me left to take it if you left me again. I wasn’t enough to keep you here or make you come back.”
“No! NO! Stop it. You are all I wanted, but I hate this village! I hate it and I hate that they always got you. They came first. They destroyed my family and my life! Naruto you know what they did. They were worse to you but you still love them and want to protect them.” Sasuke argued shaking now.
“Stop it. We had sex! We made love Sasuke. You laid next to me after taking my virginity and then while I slept you got up and walked away. How, tell me how to forgive that? I’ve tried, you think I don’t want you? I don’t want to believe you? Do you really think with as much as I love you I don’t want you? Are you completely stupid Teme? I want this. I want everything you’re offering and I’m fighting myself not to give in, because I… know … I don’t know.” He whispered looking down. He’d had arguments in his head… reasons… a list of reasons he could never let Sasuke back in. Reasons he couldn’t give him. “I hate you because I love you.”
“Please give me another chance, Naruto.” Sasuke looked up. He’d never asked. He knew Naruto and Sasuke was cheating once more because Naruto was all about second chances and making people better than they were when he met them. “You changed me, Kyusuke changed me, I’ve wanted you for longer then I can remember and right now I need you. I need you to keep me from taking the wrong path again. Please Naruto.”
Naruto had forgotten how to breathe. Bright blue eyes looked up full of tears. So many emotions mixed in them- pain, heartbreak, hope, love and desperation. Every one of those were for Sasuke. As the tears broke the barrier holding them in Naruto opened his mouth to speak and Sasuke felt himself stop breathing. This was it. If Naruto wouldn’t give him a chance after rescuing their son, he would never give him a chance.
