Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. MPreg |
A/N: This chapter is
a little shorter than normal, but this felt like where it had to stop. The concert and what happens there is
deserving of its own chapter. Uh-oh,
suspense building, huh? I hope this
doesn’t feel too … false. I think it
fits with the characters personalities within my mind, but I’m not sure it came
out in a way that everyone else will understand that.
Review Responses:
Nejislady: Thank you.
Thank you. I like to give people
answers. Lack of answers drives me nuts,
so you should never quite have to fear about a question left unanswered.
The Simi: I don’t mind long reviews; it’s nice to hear everything
you’re thinking. :) Minato loves Naruto
to death and has spent a large portion of his life searching for him. But all he had to go on was the last
name. He didn’t know anything about what
he looked like or where he lived, so it was almost impossible to locate
him. Sasuke’s reaction to the kidnapping
is almost numb. Obito, Kisame, and
Deidara are the ones who really freak out.
It’s the ‘this is not happening’ factor that keeps Sasuke pulled
back. Don’t worry; what he’s really
feeling does come out later in the chapter.
Ero Sennin: I had to do MPREG someway that wouldn’t
completely be impossible. I mean, they
could find a way someday to impregnate a man.
I agree though. If a man had to
spend one second dealing with pregnancy and birth, they’d whine like bitches
and expect us to fix it. My husband
asked me what contractions felt like.
All I could say was take the most intense pain in your life (he’s had a
collapsed lung, so I know it was a fairly sizeable pain) and multiply it by 10,
and you might come close. When my
girlfriends ask, I tell them that whatever their worst cramp has ever been to
multiply that at least 10. I couldn’t
sleep for two days because the contractions were so strong from the start for
me…stupid going into a 36 hour labor at like 8 at night.
Chapter Eight
Naruto groaned. He
had been sitting in this warehouse for two days now. Sasuke was scrambling to find the money, or
at least that was what Zetsu was telling him.
He wasn’t able to speak with Sasuke.
Hidan and Kakuzu wouldn’t allow him near the phone because Hidan was
still driving the band around. His cover
hadn’t been blown.
Naruto’s incision had begun to sting. He was suspecting it might be infected. He gasped in pain as he tried to sit up. “I need something for this infection. I’m going to get really sick and end up
needing the hospital otherwise.”
Zetsu was beside Naruto almost right away. “Fix it.”
“No; they never said I had to keep him healthy.” “FIX IT!” “Why should
I?” “Fix it or I’ll fight my way out.” “Good luck with that.” Zetsu seemed to wrestle with himself before
he went to a phone. “I need some
meds. Yeah, for an infection for a
pregnant person.”
He hung up the phone and turned to Naruto. “You should have some soon. Will you mind if I try to disinfect it?”
Naruto shook his head.
“What’s going to happen if Sasuke can’t find the money?”
Zetsu shook his head.
“I won’t let anything happen. I
have to make up for being a horrible asshole.”
Naruto sighed. “If
you feel that way, why did you help them get me in the first place?”
Zetsu sighed. “I have two
personalities. They,” he waved towards
the not-currently-present Kakuzu and Hidan, “split us through some crazy ass
experiment once. I don’t know how they
made it so that we were separate people, but they did. We ended up getting merged back because it
made me more of a liability to be separated.
They promised me freedom from my other personality, permanent freedom,
if I brought you to them.”
Naruto frowned. “I
really have a hard time hating you when I hear that. I’d say what you just told me was impossible,
but I’m a pregnant man, so impossible just seems so much more plausible these
days.”
Zetsu pulled a medicated wipe from the first aid kit he’d
retrieved. “I’m sorry if this hurts.”
“I’m not; sting the bastard.” “Shut up!”
Naruto hissed as the antibacterial cloth hit his
incision. “Fuck,” he bit out as he
clenched his hands to distract himself from the pain. Zetsu frowned as he cleaned the area as
quickly and thoroughly as he could.
Naruto took a deep breath as the stinging sensation went away. “Thank you.”
Zetsu nodded and put the first aid kit back. “Sasuke will get the money, Naruto.”
Naruto nodded. “What
about you, though? Do you have any
guarantee they’ll let you go?”
Zetsu shook his head.
“As long as you are safe, my life is insignificant. I can’t worry about myself when I’ve wronged
you so badly.”
Naruto smiled softly.
His voice was softer and deeper than normal. “You’ve made a mistake, but it’s not entirely
your fault. You are making it up to me
by taking good care of me and my child.
I will concern myself with your safety and your freedom if it kills me.”
Zetsu smiled sadly and nodded his head. “I’ll contact you once they’ve released me.”
“They won’t let that happen.” “I won’t be a threat to them, since you’ll move
after all this is done.” “You know their names.” “They can erase my memories of
them.” “They’ll erase Naruto, then, too.” “You can’t know that.” “You’re just a
waste of perfectly good body, anyway.
They’d be better off feeding you to the sharks.”
Naruto growled in warning.
“I don’t take kindly to my friends being threatened.” He wanted to stand up and grab the guy by the
throat, but he’d just be grabbing the good Zetsu then, too. He settled for growling again. “When the good Zetsu is separated, you’d
better make sure he can call me and let me know, or I will find you three and
hunt you down until there’s nothing left.”
Zetsu grabbed his head as the personalities warred inside
him. He stilled suddenly when Naruto’s
arms went around his neck. “You can win
your body.” Zetsu collapsed against
Naruto as he started sobbing.
*********************
Sasuke paced the floor as Obito and Kisame questioned Deidara
once more about what happened. Deidara
was nearly in tears as he told them that he had gone to the bathroom and come
back to a missing Naruto.
Obito sighed and punched the wall. “You KNOW you’re not supposed to leave them
alone. EVER.”
Deidara nodded, pushing back the tears. He made the mistake; he would take the
punishment. “It was stupid on my
part. I knew the rules. I’m prepared for whatever punishment you see
fit.”
Kisame put his hand on Obito’s shoulder and whispered something into his
ear. Obito nodded. “Sasuke, go with Kisame. I have to discuss something with Deidara
alone.”
Sasuke glanced over at the blonde that had once threatened his life, before
revealing who he truly was. “I know you
didn’t mean it, Deidara.” He walked through
the door with Kisame and heard the thud of something hitting the door almost
immediately after.
Obito sighed from above Deidara, where he had landed against
the door. One good shove. That was all he was going to give
Deidara. Deidara had been one of his
most loyal associates, other than Kisame.
He knew Deidara was beating himself up over this mistake, and there was
no reason to torment the man further.
“Stand up, Deidara.” Deidara
pulled himself to standing. “You screwed
up, big time. I know you know that
though. I know you’re torturing yourself
over this, so I won’t do anything more.
I want you on the team that finds Naruto, understand?”
Deidara nodded. He let himself bring his
hand up to massage his throbbing scalp.
“That was a hell of a hit, yeah.”
Obito couldn’t help the chuckle. “It wasn’t anything compared with what it
would have been if you were a lesser member of my group. Besides, you’ve got few enough brain cells the
way it is.”
Deidara gave a half hearted glare. “I’ll start running that guy’s description
through the databases.”
Obito nodded. “I want
you stay with Sasuke and Kisame. I want
two people guarding him because it was Zetsu, and it’s obvious that someone is
trying to get to Sasuke.”
Deidara nodded and stepped from the room. He was surprised to see Sasuke and Kisame
still waiting for him. Sasuke noticed a
sizeable lump forming on Deidara’s head.
He smiled sadly. “Sorry you got
that,” he said pointing at said lump.
Deidara shrugged.
“Nothing more than I deserved.
Let’s get to your room, yeah?”
//////////
The next morning when Sasuke woke up, he reached for Naruto
only to remember he wasn’t there. He
grabbed his cell phone and called Minato immediately. “Is there anything medical that Naruto needs
to be doing that he’s not going to be able to do because of being kidnapped?”
Minato sighed into the phone. He’d finally gotten his son back only to lose
him again. “No. He’s fine until his two week check up. We’ll need to give him some vitamins and
hormones then.”
Sasuke sighed in relief. “Look, I know
it’s not your fault, okay? We all
know. So, would you please come over
here when you can and help us with this rescue operation?”
Minato smiled, though Sasuke couldn’t see it.
He truly was happy his son had found someone so caring. “Yes, I’ll be over as soon as I’m done with
work for the day.”
Sasuke hung up and took a shower. When
he got out of the shower, Itachi and Obito were sitting in his room. He shook his head. “I don’t remember giving you two keys.”
Itachi shrugged. “Since when has a lock
kept either of us out?”
Sasuke smiled. “So, any contact from
them yet?”
Obito nodded. “They
called your cell while you were in the bathroom. They wouldn’t give the demand to either of
us, so they’ll be calling you back in the next 15 minutes. It was an untraceable number.”
Sasuke bit his lip.
He wouldn’t cry. He shouldn’t
have taken a shower. What was he
thinking? He sat down and stared at his
phone. When it rang, he jumped. “Hello?”
A dark voice on the other end spoke. “Uchiha Sasuke?”
Sasuke closed his eyes to reign in his anger. “Yes.
Where’s Naruto?”
“Naruto is fine.
Bring $5 million in a black briefcase to the concert Wednesday afternoon
in the garden. Set the briefcase by your
chair. Someone will walk by and pick it
up. If you so much as think about
stopping that person, your little lover boy and baby will be killed. If the money checks out, we’ll release Naruto
in time for him to take the stage with the band.” The line went dead.
Sasuke sighed. “They
want $5 million to be brought to the concert on Wednesday. I have to get on the phone with my bank. I don’t give a shit about the money. Naruto is all that matters.”
Obito nodded. “Given
the circumstances, I think that is the best option. We can track them down and pay them back for
this after Naruto is safe.”
There was a knock on the door and Itachi moved to the door
to check it out. He sighed and opened
the door to Hinata and Baki, Kiba, Ten-Ten, Deidara, Anko, and Kisame. “What’s with the large group?”
Hinata smiled as she kissed Itachi’s cheek quickly. “We’re all worried about Naruto,
obviously. We wanted to help.”
Itachi smiled and wrapped his arms around the lithe
frame. “Hina, baby, it’s all ready taken
care of. We’re just going to pay the
ransom, and Naruto will be given back.”
Kiba sighed. “They’ll
have hell to pay if we don’t get Naruto back.”
****************************
Naruto was blindfolded and sitting in a van. He assumed the same van he had first been brought
to the warehouse in. He was gagged, but
he could feel Zetsu’s reassuring hand on his as they drove through town. He was putting his trust in Zetsu’s goodness
that he would be released.
******************
Sasuke sighed as he sat, restlessly, in a lawn chair with a
briefcase with $5 million dollars in it sitting beside him. He sighed when he saw a boy coming toward
him. The boy was young, maybe 12 years
old. He stopped by Sasuke. “Someone told me this briefcase belonged to
them. I was supposed to pick it up from
you.”
Sasuke nodded and let the boy take it.
He was frantic while sitting there, doing nothing, waiting to see if
Naruto would be released. He was waiting
for a call from Kiba saying they had Naruto now. He sat for 20 minutes before his cell phone
rang. Kiba was laughing, “He’s
back. Get over here. He wants you.”
Sasuke had tears of relief running down his face as he
sprinted over to the stage. He climbed
over the fence separating the stage from the audience. The security guards would have stopped him,
but they recognized him as Naruto’s husband.
He ran around the side of the stage and fell to his knees when he saw
Naruto. He couldn’t help crying when he
saw Naruto safely released and seemingly unharmed.
Naruto saw Sasuke fall to the ground in relief and started
crying as he ran over to Sasuke. “Shh,
baby, I’m safe.”
Sasuke cried harder. “I’m supposed to be
the one to tell you you’re safe.” He
hiccupped as he tried to compose himself.
“Naruto, I was so worried about you and the baby.”
Naruto smiled as he was wrapped even tighter in his
husband’s embrace. “Deidara didn’t get
into too much trouble did he?”
Sasuke shook his head. “Who was with
Zetsu?”
Naruto sighed. “Our
bus driver and some guy named Kakuzu.
Zetsu needs us, Sasuke.”
Sasuke sighed. “How
can you say that?”
Naruto growled. He
wanted to explain it, but they’d just called for him to go onstage. Kakuzu made it perfectly clear that if they
didn’t perform, he wouldn’t help Zetsu.
“I’ll tell you after the concert.”
Naruto rushed the concert just a bit. He just wanted to hold Sasuke and tell him
and Obito everything he’d found out from Zetsu.
He wanted them to understand that Zetsu really wasn’t bad. He was just misguided…at least half of him
was.
Sasuke grabbed Naruto as fast as he could. He didn’t want to give anyone half a second
of Naruto’s time. He gently rubbed his
hand across his lover’s belly. “Come
home with me baby. Once you’re home we
can do anything you want, talk about anything you want, but I need you to hold
me.”
Naruto smiled and let Sasuke fawn over him. He knew his significant other was an
emotional wreck right now. He’d felt the
same way when he got Sasuke back all those years ago. He smiled and nodded while kissing Sasuke
softly. “I love you, Sasuke.”
Sasuke smiled. “I
love you too. I’m sorry I didn’t come
with you.”
Naruto shook his head.
“Don’t be. You should be sorry
for not telling Dr. Namikaze was my father.”
Sasuke frowned as he ran his hands through Naruto’s hair. “I just wanted him to tell you himself. If he didn’t have the balls to say it, I
would have wanted him to leave us alone.
I wanted him to come clean to you on his own.” Sasuke smiled softly. “He’s been keeping me company every day. He’s a good man, Naruto.”
Naruto smiled. “I’m glad. I’ll have to ask him all the questions I
couldn’t ask him at supper.”
Sasuke sighed as he settled against Naruto in the bus, with
a completely new bus driver, all ready background checked by Obito over the
span of the concert. It was amazing the
things Obito could accomplish when he put his mind to it. Naruto curled up under Sasuke’s arm, wincing
as his stitching pulled.
Sasuke sighed and helped to shift Naruto to be more
comfortable. Naruto smiled and laughed
at Sasuke. “I’m not helpless yet.”
Sasuke shrugged. “I’m
just using the excuse to put my hands on you.”
Naruto sighed. He let
Sasuke hold him until they got back to the hotel. He let Sasuke kiss him until he was ready to
let go. Sasuke held his head to Naruto’s
forehead. “What did you want to talk
about?”
Naruto frowned. “Sasuke, Zetsu isn’t all
bad. He’s got a bad half and a good
half, like evil twins or something.
Anyway, they’ve been holding freedom over good Zetsu. And they’ve been threatening him with harm to
others he cares for if he doesn’t listen.
They told him if he got me they’d let him go, but I don’t see that
happening. He said they were going to
split his personality, but I just have the feeling they’re going to keep
holding him against his will. Sasuke, we
have to help good Zetsu.”
Sasuke exhaled sharply and pulled Naruto close to him. “I don’t want you doing anything like that in
your condition.” He sighed and called
Obito to the room. “I want to make you
happy though, so we’ll do it. You’re
going to have to sit on the sidelines, though, and let me baby you as much as I
want.”
Naruto nodded. “I
don’t mind being babied a little bit.
Zetsu is supposed to call me when they free him.”
Sasuke nodded and pulled Naruto closer to his body. His needs to hug and touch and hold the blond
were back. He put his lips to Naruto’s
neck and whispered, “I was so scared, Nar.
I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you and the baby.”
Naruto finally cried, hard.
He collapsed into Sasuke as the events of his past three days hit him
fully. He’d been so close to infection
of the incision, but Zetsu had helped him with that. He’d thought he may never see Sasuke
again. The worst thought though was that
something awful would happen that would cause him to lose their baby. He sobbed into Sasuke’s shoulder, coughing
and hiccupping as he became near hysterical before choking back the sobs and
forcing himself to calm down. “I want to
call off the tour, Sasuke. I know I
can’t, and I know there is only one stop left before we go back home, but I
want to be sure nothing happens to the baby, our baby.”
Sasuke smiled sadly.
“We’ll be leaving tomorrow after your farewell performance. From Obito’s home base he’ll be more able to
help Zetsu out than from a place where he doesn’t have his full office. I promise that I will do everything in my
power to help out the person who you have deemed worthy, oh good sir.”
Naruto couldn’t help but chuckle. “You always seem to know what I need to
smile. Stupid corny-ass Shakespeare
attempt.”
Sasuke smirked. “I
could have done a perfect Shakespeare if I wanted. I just knew that would bore you rather than
make you smile and laugh.” He kissed
Naruto’s lips as his hand gently caressed the still flat belly, loving the fact
that Naruto was still carrying his child.
“You should never do anything but smile and laugh. Sadness just isn’t meant for you.”
***********************
Naruto rang the number nervously. “Hello?” The voice on the end answered.
Naruto smiled. “Hi. I guess it’s dad isn’t it?”
Naruto could hear the smile in Minato’s voice. “Oh thank god. I thought you’d leave the country without
saying goodbye. It isn’t as though I
wouldn’t see you soon, but I’m so glad you called.”
Naruto relaxed. He’d
been extremely nervous about calling his father. There was still something so surreal about
finding out that what he’d known all his life wasn’t the truth. “I want you to come to the show tonight, if
you can. Sasuke will take care of the
arrangements, if you want to.”
Minato smiled. “I’d
love that. I’m so glad you have it in
your heart to forgive me.”
Naruto sighed. “It’s
not total forgiveness, but I want to get to know you. Kiba said he remembered pushing away a guy
who was trying to get me to open my mouth.
He said he had a Q-Tip. I can only
assume he was your man. Hinata said she
turned you away just after Sasuke and I had gotten together. They really do look out for me. Sometimes it’s too much, but I’d take that
over too little.”
Minato chuckled. “I’m so glad you’ve
been taken care of. I looked for you for
so long. I couldn’t believe it when
Sasuke called my office. I knew it was
my chance and I hoped I wouldn’t blow it.”
Naruto shrugged. “I
have to get ready now. Come to the
concert. When you get to the ticket ask
for either Sasuke or Obito. The ticket
people will know who they are.”
“Okay, Naruto,” Minato laughed again. “I’ll see you at the show tonight. Goodbye.”
“Bye, dad.” Naruto
hung up the phone and leaned back into the arms that wrapped around his
waist. He breathed out a deep sigh. “He’s coming tonight, Sas.”
Sasuke smiled. “I’m
glad, baby. You deserve to get to know
your dad. I’m actually happy your father
is our doctor. I know our baby will get
all the love and attention he deserves, even before he’s born.”
Naruto laughed. “You’re
such a cornball sometimes.”
Sasuke smirked. “That’s
your fault.”
Naruto settled back into the embrace of his husband. “I want to get legally married so badly,
Sasuke.”
Sasuke laughed. “And
just a little while ago you were telling me that we could wait.” He wrapped his arms tighter around
Naruto. “Besides, I think you’re
right. After all, it’s really just a
piece of paper to make legal what we already feel for each other.” He kissed Naruto’s neck. “Let’s get you ready for your concert.”
