Thanks for all the reviews I received; this story is turning out to be one of my favourites to be writing about! I may even turn this into a novel one day with different characters and use it as a plot idea. For now let's get to the questions! I'll answer about 6 because I don't want to bore you guys. Questions: Won't Naruto be worried when he doesn't see Sasuke for a few days - Of course! Poor Naru; an overbearing Itachi a strangely happy Fugaku I think he's probably tearing out his hair as we speak. Why haven't Jiraiya and Kakashi joined them? - Fugaku only opened the gate for the two of them and Jiraiya also realized - only now - that Kashi can't disappear at the time because he runs a big publishing company and Jiji is launching a new book. Also they are covering for Naru's sudden disappearance. Actually, couldn't the Uchiha's use their abilities to try and heal Naruto's mind a bit? - They could but the dynamics of Sasu and Naru's relationship is the fact that they take comfort from each other; that would give Naruto a sense of false happiness and he wants to deal with his grief with the help of his mate. I think that answers the questions for now; let me know if I missed any please. Thanks for everything guys this story could not be written without the support I've been getting. For now though; enjoy a whole new chapter with some comedy, Itachi with a bed head and Naruto all fluffy and cute after a towel dry. Oh and a story telling Fu. ----------------------------------- "Nggh!" Naruto whimpered slightly in his sleep; dark dreams flitting before his eyes. For all the times to be living through a nightmare this was not one of them and Naruto cursed colourfully as he sat up; sheets falling from his form as his cheeks flushed in the sudden heat that crept over his skin. Blinking the tears from his eyes; whenever he remembered that night it was the blood that got to him - the splatters that stained his mouth and spilled over the wound in his heart. His desperate cries and words of 'please forgive me' were always unanswered and ignored and the pain of that fact was enough to upset Naruto's equilibrium. Blue eyes looked desperately for the one he knew would be able to calm his heart and pain; yet there was no sign of the spiky black hair and red eyes. Naruto's heart was pounding in his chest; where was Sasuke? Had he also left him now? Like Kashi and Jiji who had decided to stay in the Human Realm and finish 'legislation' aspects of them disappearing for such a long time. He had no idea what they were talking about but then again Naruto's mind had been so scattered that he could barely concentrate on anything that was being said. "Yare, yare! Can I stop thinking so much?" Naruto whined softly. Wiping the sleep from his eyes before heading for the bathroom; gripping the silk yukata between his fingers - it reminded him of the fact that he had completely forgotten to bring any clothes. Biting his lip as he contemplated borrowing some of Sasuke's clothes. First he had to find the Uchiha and going by the darkness of the house and the light of the moon - it was way too early. Settling for washing his face, Naruto splashed some cold water on his face to clear his mind before he tugged at the Yukata to try and lengthen it but it was useless - his fluffy tails were too much. So with a sigh Naruto carefully opened the shoji doors and looked down the dark hallway; it was desolate and not a soul was there that he could sense. This was getting too confusing for him; Naruto crept towards the front of the home and from his memory where the beautiful garden was. Something about the soft grass brushing against his bare feet and the touch of soft flower petals was the only thing besides Sasuke that could calm him. Making sure to keep his noise down to a minimum, Naruto finally slipped outside. Bowing his head to the moon and saying a silent prayer to Tsukiyomi (1*); asking for forgiveness that he was being such a burden to the Uchiha household and for not being able to save his father. After paying his respects Naruto headed for the beautifully kept garden; drawn to the cherry blossom tree that was in full bloom. The scent that drifted from the tree was intoxicating; the sweetness reminded him of the scent that drifted from Sasuke. Yes that was it; without the cinnamon's spicy scent it was just like the flowery scent of cherry blossoms and brown sugar... "What a beautiful sight you make in the eternal darkness; just like Minato - the brightest Taiyo in the home of Tsuki (2*)." Naruto started at the voice; blue eyes losing their happy glimmer to a shadow of fear. When he saw red eyes, black cat ears and a tail he scowled. "What is it with Uchiha's and scaring me!" Naruto yelled; blue eyes flashing brightly before he took a calming breath. This Neko standing before him was rife with power but Naruto caught a whiff of a sweet scent and his instincts led him closer; not paying attention to the unknown Uchiha as he pressed up against a strong chest and sniffed at the traditional kimono. Blue eyes flashed before they settled on startled red. "You smell a lot like Sasuke; but different." Naruto said softly with a frown marring his features. A blush blossomed across his cheeks. What had he just done? What was wrong with him, every time he so much as smelled Sasuke he couldn't control his actions anymore; especially now that his senses were heightened and he was aware of every movement his nine tails made as they swayed behind him nervously and his fox ears drooped in his embarrassment. Naruto was dragged from his thoughts by a snort and a deep chuckle; fingers ruffling his hair as the tall Neko Deity bent down to stare into his eyes causing his blush to flare a deeper red. "I'd think I'd smell like my son don't you?" A small noise of distress spilled from Naruto, had he made the Uchiha Patriarch angry at him now? He chewed his bottom lip softly but before he could begin his sincere apology; Fugaku clucked his tongue before cooing softly strong hands resting on Naruto's shoulder as he started leading the young Kitsune into the house. "I can see you inherited your father's fiery personality as well as his looks. That however won't shield you from the cold or keep a fever at bay." "Wait how did you know my father? Are you really Sasuke's father?" Naruto asked; there was so many questions running through his mind that he had no idea what to ask first. His tails were as restless as his mind; in fact he could have sworn they hit Fugaku a few times - he was struggling to get them under control. Fugaku's rumbling laugh was a lot like the laugh that Sasuke had; okay so maybe he really was Sasuke's father especially going by that smirk and red eyes. "I think I would know if I fathered my own child, Naru-chan. As for how I knew your father it is unfortunately a tragic story bathed in the blood of the Uchiha Clan and the death of the Namikaze Clan. A story I will not reveal to you in your sensitive state as you have enough to deal with at this point in time." Naruto pouted; his curiosity peaked but he snapped his attention back to Fugaku when the Uchiha shook his head and an exasperated sigh spilled from his lips. "Pouts don't work on me. Ne Itachi?" Naruto's eyes focused on the Neko that crept into the kitchen; long black hair tangled in sleep and a yawn spilling from the elder Uchiha brother as his ears pulled flat against his head. Naruto not for the first time wondered how Itachi had snuck up on them without him noticing it. "Hn." Itachi grunted before putting on the kettle and shuffling through the kitchen. His footsteps quiet and a soft purring spilling from his chest; Naruto chuckled softly. Itachi looked a lot like Sasuke when he first woke up - completely oblivious to the world around him. "I can see you had a good dream Itachi; nevertheless that does not excuse you from not greeting our guest." Fugaku purred warningly and Naruto wanted to chuckle; only to startle when arms wound around his shoulders promptly and a kiss was placed on his cheek. A deep blush staining his cheeks cherry red as a small noise of surprise echoed through the kitchen; sounding more like a squeak than anything else but not that Naruto would ever admit it. "Good morning; Naru-chan. Morning Father." Itachi purred before going back to his task of making tea. Leaving Naruto completely confused with his mind reeling at what Itachi had just done. He toyed with the glass of water in front of him restlessly, nervously until he finally exploded. "NANI! Do I have a sign on my forehead that reads - I am a Namikaze; please molest me?!" Naruto yelled when reality finally struck him. Daring the two Uchiha's to so much as smirk at him and yet they paid his expression no mind as they smirked and chuckled delightfully at his expense and embarrassed red cheeks. This was so not going to be a good day. ~ Naruto stared at the moon from the private onsen; still trying to figure out how deities perceived time when no sun existed on the plane. The only thing visible was the beautiful view of a overly large moon that shone a constant silver that was almost ethereal; this was what Fugaku had called the Eternal Night that shone over the Heavenly Realm as punishment from Amaterasu for the wars that wracked the Heavenly Realm for thousands of years before the Human Realm had been created by the Rikudo Sennin, Uchiha Clan and Namikaze Clan. "So confusing." Naruto thought but he had never before seen such a beautiful place even if it was eternally cursed to be night. The moon was beautiful and according to Itachi the cherry blossoms never went out of season and the flowers were always in bloom; the water of the natural spring was calming and shimmered with the light of the moon like a mirror of peace. The four corners of that mirror, a reflection of his heart at that moment in time. All this he could perceive from the outside onsen of the shrine and the warm water that washed over him was a soothing touch of brushing fingertips and warm tails. His tails were now finally still as he calmed his heart. "Naruto? It's time to get out; I've laid out some clothes for you." Naruto nodded; winding the towel around his waist but his tails were once again making things difficult for him. Itachi had been nice to him; even explaining to him that Sasuke would be away for a few days. He had been called away on a mission so Itachi was looking after him for now; Naruto didn't mind Itachi that much but it was Sasuke that his heart called out for. After ringing most of the water from his hair and tails Naruto scowled as he could see his reflection in the calm water; his tails were more fluffed up that usual and his hair was sticking up places that he didn't know it could. Grumbling to himself Naruto headed into the room and got dressed; the black pants were at least his size even though they hung low on his lips but the dark blue shirt was a bit big and the unusually high colour hid his mouth from view. It was strange but for some reason Naruto relaxed when he caught the scent of Sasuke on the clothes. Naruto never noticed the Uchiha fan emblazoned on his back; marking him as one of the Uchiha's. When he and Itachi finally started towards the town below the shrine did Naruto notice that a cold wind was picking up and a shiver travelled through him; fox ears pulling against his head and against his soft hair to keep warm as his tails wrapped around his waist. Itachi had asked him to come with to the small village below; it was a supply point for the Deities travelling to and from Earth, Fire, Wind, Lightning and Water country. This village was called Kaji Arashi(3*) for a reason as it was the gathering of those living in Fire Country. As Naruto walked closer he could understand why it was called so as a deep orange from a large fire at the centre of the village illuminated the sky and made it look like the sparks flying through the air was rain drops of orange and red... "Come Naruto before the Haruno and Yamanaka clan find us." Naruto nodded; for once grateful for the large collar around his neck - not only did it keep him warm it also stopped people from seeing his face too clearly. Before he could make sense of what was happening Itachi had gripped onto his arms and dragged him into a store; hand clamping across his mouth just as he saw two female deities walking past. One was definitely a cat, with white ears and a smooth tail - she had pink hair and the other with long blonde hair had dog ears and a waving tail. "Damn that was close." Itachi breathed in his ear and when Naruto finally broke free he tried to put as much distance between him and the Uchiha; he had no idea what had just happened but he merely shrugged - slipped out the store and when he saw a ramen stand he rushed there. Despite Itachi's calls for him to stop. By the time the Uchiha reached Naruto he had already ordered a bowl and was smiling at the Ramen stand owner. "I see you discovered the Ramen stand. Ichiraku's is at least safe for now; I'm going to pick up some things Naruto. Please stay out of trouble until I get back." Naruto nodded; he was after all at a Ramen stand - there was nothing to be worried about he wasn't going anywhere soon. ---------------------------- Sasuke's fingers curled around the sharp blade of his Kusanagi; not even flinching when blood poured from the wound on his palm. Anything to distract him from the pain curling in his stomach and the unbearable heat that spread through his veins. He didn't care that blood dripped all over the immaculate floors of his father's room nor that he couldn't see properly anymore. His vision was swimming in and out of focus; his body was crying out for touch. So much so that he ached all over; nothing it seems could distract him from the overwhelming heat and heady scent that invaded his senses. He could smell Naruto all over him; in his hair, on his clothes and on his skin. How much he wanted to... "Sasuke! Focus! I know this one is going to be difficult but you need to control yourself. Self inflicted wounds isn't going to help; I will use a genjitsu on you if you don't stop this. I'm worried about you; I have never seen you like this." Sasuke's breath was haggard and he clung to his katana; refusing to let go even when his father was begging him. He could still taste Naruto on his tongue, feel the fur of his tails as they wound around him. It was too much; with a final breath he slipped into unconsciousness. For once grateful that his father had forced him into unconsciousness. If not; Sasuke was sure he would have carved out his own heart to stop the pain from spreading through him. His Naruto; his Naruto...HIS Naruto was hurting, breaking and he couldn't be there because he knew he would hurt his beloved even more... ~ "Tell me Naru-chan why do you cry so much?" Big blue eyes; the colour of the azure skies blinked when large tears stained whiskered cheeks. Little sobs falling from cherry blossom lips; the scent of ramen, apples, lilies and bright sunshine, the epitome of innocence, pure white and unstained. A soul filled with love and yet the sorrows of a past it could not remember. "Naruto; you are eight years old. A big boy now; you shouldn't cry anymore. The other children are going to make fun of you." A gentle voice whispered; bright fiery red hair and kind amethyst eyes. The soft touch of a loving mother... "Uugh," Naruto wailed; tiny fists wiping at the stream of tears that spilled from beautiful blue eyes. "Kaa-chan! It hurts!" Naruto cried suddenly; throwing himself in his mother's arms. Fingers fisting in flowing red hair; soft cooing sounds that only a mother could produce danced through the bright sunshine. The park was lighted in the early morning sun; the laughter of children ringing through the air but it was the single image of a tiny blonde haired child in his mother's arms that burned the image into Sasuke's heart. He was merely an outside observer but it was absolutely heart wrenching; one that knew the pain that lay ahead. A mother's love for her son and a son who was experiencing emotions not his own. "I k-killed him! Kaa-chan! I killed him!" Naruto cried; blue eyes dulling into a lifeless glow that showed more than the age of his body. A soul with the experience of more than a thousand years of pain. Sasuke was startled by those eyes; they were eyes that he knew. Knew from a long time ago...A time no longer written or talked about... "Hush my baby; who did you kill?" The red haired woman cooed softly; amethyst eyes darkening in worry for her child as she curled her arms around Naruto protectively. "T-the m-man with bl-blood eyes; c-cat ears and a tai..." Blue eyes clenched shut in pain as a bout of fresh sobs tore from Naruto's body. He was small; too small for his age; something was stunting his growth... "Naru-chan; you shouldn't listen to the stories Papa reads you. It's not true and you killed no one; my baby is too precious to kill anyone. You're heart is too pure..." Disbelieving blue eyes opened to lower in shame... "But Kaa-chan! H-he w-w-as..." Naruto was interrupted by a sob tearing lose from his body; his entire frame wracking with it. "Tell me; what was he Naru? What was the man?" Blue eyes cleared; wisdom shimmering deep in the depths as a calm voice said the words that tore apart Sasuke world. "He was my other half; Kaa-chan. The part of my soul that is missing." ~ Mangekyou Sharingan eyes shot open; the black star like pattern spinning out of existence as the three tamoes finally came to a halt. A headache bursting behind his eyes; pain washing through his entire body - his soul crying out for the one he now realized was his. Meant to belong to him, be his forever... "Sasuke? Have you finally realized the significance of Naruto in your life now?" A deep voice asked; Sharingan eyes locked with another set of red. A frown marring perfect features as the Uchiha tried to decipher the words his father had just spoken. "Wait; you knew?" Sasuke asked; a perfectly sculpted eyebrow rising in inquiry. Sasuke's mind was still groggy from the forced sleep but the memory he had seen was as clear as a crystal. He could even remember how those big blue eyes glazed over in pain; ultimate pain and remorse. It was a revelation that hit him squarely on the forehead; like a flick of Itachi's fingers when the elder Uchiha didn't have the time to spend with his Otouto. Wait; the burning question that spilled forth was how he could experience a memory that was clearly not his own. "I did; I knew the moment that Naruto was brought into this world. What you just saw was what I saw when I visited Minato in the Human Realm two years before his wife died. Little Naruto is a precious gem just as you are; you are literally the sun and the moon to each other. One cannot survive without the other; the sun illuminates the moon and moon over shadows the sun. That is the legend known as the Taiyo No Tsuki Ai (4*); it has been passed down from generation to generation for all deities; the chosen mates that would become the rulers of the Heavenly Realm to bring both peace or war." Sasuke was listening to all this with silence; trying to understand just what his father was trying to say. Okay; so he now knew that Naruto was his mate but even as he thought about it - it wasn't such a surprise but it was the information that his father knew that startled him; how? How did he know was all that Sasuke wanted to know but there was something... "Lair. It is impossible; the Taiyo No Tsuki Ai have been dead for a thousand years. In fact it was them that created time, the Heavenly Realm and all the Deities. How can it be me and Naruto; it's impossible." Sasuke said but even now that wasn't completely untrue; it would explain the emotions he felt, the dreams he had been having since coming in contact with Naruto and it would also explain why Naruto sometimes cried out his name at night in the saddest tone he had ever heard. Darkened Sharingan observed his father's movements; how long fingers ran through shoulder length black hair before those fingers covered wary eyes. "Do you know how many times I wished that what I knew was not true; that I would not have to resign my child to a fate of pain after the ultimate love? It hurts Sasuke; because I know it is true. It is not impossible because every Deity can tell you the story; can you remember it? I'm sure you can but then again now you will finally be able to understand the pain behind the story." ~~(SSP Says it's Story Time)~~ "Long ago before Deities were warring for the five elemental counties; it was peace that ruled these lands - but sin was rife in the lands. All under the watchful eyes of two very powerful Deities; one -Tsuki - a demon that had a warrior's soul - with the ability to control fire, lightning and use his katana to punish and take the lives of those he thought unworthy. He was blind; but his katana skills were unmatched - no one could survive a fight with him. The other - Taiyo - was a natural healer that was hated for his ability to control all five elements; he had been born with nine tails and his origins could not be mistaken. He had been chosen as the sole carrier of the 'Will of Fire' - giving him the ability to create life. Just as Tsuki could destroy it within a blink of an eye." "They were the complete opposite and yet; Taiyo's love for life was a spark that awakened Tsuki's black heart. They were destined mates and were connected the moment they met." "However, Taiyo's family disapproved of his 'dark' mate and set out to kill the blind warrior. After being gravely injured - Tsuki nearly died - yet, at the hands of his beloved he was saved by the healing power of the sun. In making a pact with three of the ruling gods; Taiyo begged Tsukiyomi, Amaterasu and Susanoo for the power to heal his Tsuki. They agreed but for a price; Tsuki would go on living but Taiyo had to do the bidding of the god's as they saw fit - even provide entertainment if they so wished it." "Each god granted a power to Tsuki; Amaterasu gave Tsuki's eyes the red glimmer of her sun and the ability to call forth the fires of hell. Tsukiyomi was generous in the fact that she gave the blackness of the three most important phases of the moon and the ability to control the time and space of Tsuki's choosing but it was Susanoo - the mischievous god - that gave Tsuki the power to summon the god himself - but at a price; immense pain, and every time he did summon him Tsuki's heart would beat a little slower." "Years went by and Taiyo never told Tsuki how he had healed his eyes; but despite that their love grew stronger. A rainy day when time was slow and the god of the sea was bored; Susanoo decided it was time for Taiyo to pay his dept. It would be the fate that sealed the souls of the two strongest lovers." Taiyo was strong; a strength he had hidden since birth. But after Susanoo asked for his body, Taiyo refused and he challenged the god who wanted to take back Tsuki's eyes a punishment for his refusal. With chakra he sealed away the mischievous god; banishing him to the deepest parts of hell. Taiyo knew he would be punished for his deed and when it was announced Taiyo would never be the same again; Taiyo was forced to kill Tsuki with his own powerful katana." "Taiyo was a kind hearted soul but that broke him to pieces. After killing Tsuki, Taiyo ran his beloved's sword through his own heart and committed suicide; his last tears of blood created a string of golden chakra that bound their souls together for eternity. A spoken Jutsu that Taiyo learned from his father; made sure that they would be reincarnated every thousand years when their power was once again needed to stabilize the lands of the Heavenly Realm and seal away a dark danger that kept them apart. It was this event that triggered the first great Heavenly Realm War." "The death of the two lovers’ sparked hatred amongst Deities and many died; the sorrow, pain and hatred had become too much for even the gods to control and Amaterasu eventually cursed the Heavenly Realm to live in the darkness of her sister's pale rays of silver." ~ "Sasuke I know this is difficult to believe but please; go to the library whilst Naruto is still in Kaji Arashi with Itachi to take the scroll of history and folk lore and tell me if what I have been telling you is not true." Fugaku finally finished. Standing from his seated place next to Sasuke's bed. Leaving the youngest Uchiha ot maul over the words his father had just spoken. Could it really be? --------------------------- Naruto patted his stomach happily; he had eaten enough ramen to satisfy his appetite but Itachi had yet to be seen. With a happy sigh; Naruto jumped from the bar stool after paying the man who declined. Saying that Naruto had been good company for an old man who was never graced with the presence of the powerful Uchiha Clan. Naruto had insisted; leaving the money Itachi had given him on the counter. He had no idea what the old man was talking about but he was no Uchiha; his tails swayed behind him in irritation and Naruto wasn't paying attention to where he was going and yelped when he collided with someone. "Watch where you're going!" A squeaky voice shouted and Naruto's ears pulled back against his head; it was too loud. Brushing off his clothes he managed to get to his feet; completely and utterly surprised when his hand shot out and grabbed a swaying fist. How he had managed to catch or even see the fist he could not distinguish but blue eyes locked with jade. Frowning when he recognized candy pink hair and the white cat ears and tail. It was the girl Itachi had been avoiding. "Let go of me! Wait; why do you smell like Sasuke-kun?" Naruto snorted; letting go of her hand and crossing his arms over his chest. "Of course I do; I'm wearing his clothes after all." Naruto started at the murderous aura that came from behind him; maybe turning his back on the girl hadn't been such a good idea or was it what he had said? He had no idea how things worked in the Heavenly Realm but could it be that they didn't understand sarcasm? Oh dear... "WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Naruto flinched violently; power surged to the surface of his veins and he expelled it - a circle barrier enveloped him in his fright. It was like the barrier remembered his father had cast around him before the elder Namikaze had been killed. The pink haired girl was pounding on the barrier but got nowhere. His heart had jumped to his throat and his was pounding erratically; just as fox tails puffed up to thrice their size before they wound around his waist. "Naru-chan; she's gone. I was hoping you wouldn't encounter them today. They can be a bit overbearing." At Itachi's voice Naruto stood from the ground; feeling the tingling in his veins fade as the barrier faded with the calm that drifted from the Uchiha that had once again appeared out of nowhere. "Who was that?" He asked softly; truth be told he was a little afraid of what he had just witnessed. "That, little Naru-chan, is the bane of Sasuke's existence. Obsessive fan girls." -------------------------------------- 1* - Tsukiyomi - Moon Goddess just like Amaterasu is the goddess of the sun and Susanoo is the god of the sea 2* - The brightest Taiyo in a home of Tsuki - The brightest sun in a home of the moon
