888 Sasuke pulled Kyu up by the neck of his shirt. “I have warning traps on the windows and doors, Kyusuke. When I said you stay in your room until you can speak respectfully to me, I meant it. I did not mean stay here until you think I’m not paying attention. For the record you will never be faster then me until your father decides to teach you teleportation.” Sasuke glared down at his son. The rules that he and Naruto had established were not many, nor did he feel they were difficult to follow. “Put me DOWN! You stupid jerk. Respect is earned you haven’t earned my respect.” The smaller raven growled. “Have I done something to earn your disrespect? I have been patient, kind, and rather tolerant.” The Uchiha scowled as he toted his child back to the house. “You abandoned me and dad!” As soon as he was down the four year old went to ‘his’ room and slammed the door. “I HATE YOU!” Sighing Sasuke called out, “Don’t slam the doors.” He fell onto the sofa and groaned. Rules were his idea, keeping Kyusuke full time was his idea, when had he gotten that stupid? He’d never wanted this responsibility, never desired a family or anything resembling what he was currently fighting so hard for. So why, he wondered, was he fighting for it now? Looking over at the framed photo of Naruto and Kyusuke, Sasuke’s eyes softened and he sighed. “Damn it.” Getting up he started dinner after resetting the traps to let him know if anyone entered or left the house. Naruto was on another mission and this was Kyusuke’s third night in a row with Sasuke. Things were starting to get tense. So far Kyusuke had tested Sasuke on each and every rule. No sneaking out; if he wanted to go somewhere Sasuke or Naruto needed to know and he had to have an adult with him. Always treat his elders with respect. No jutsus in the house. Sasuke was still fighting for a ‘No marrying Nara’s’ rule but Naruto insisted Kyusuke could marry whomever he chose. More and more Kyusuke was lashing out at Sasuke. The more stable Sasuke’s role in his life became the more his anger at the Uchiha’s apparent abandonment of his father and him became evident. Mostly when he was angry at Sasuke or trying to hurt him. They had great days. Movies, games, reading and especially training but any time Sasuke tried to enforce the rules the little hellion would rare back and let loose a fury that made it entirely obvious who his father was. Hell hath no fury like an Uzumaki scorned. Snorting Sasuke began chopping the salad which they would have with a ginger steamed fish. The elder raven had learned not to storm back and have it out with his son. That had been a hard lesson for him to learn. He had to give the boy his space and time to fume, then when he was ready Kyusuke would return to the main house and apologize. Still the child’s words stung. It was a harsh truth Sasuke was sure he would never get out from under. Naruto had warmed to him but even now the blond was wary and distant. Much to Sasuke’s irritation he hadn’t stopped dating Sai or Neji either. Though, he supposed, that was a good thing. If he gave one or the other up, Naruto might be considering a serious relationship with whoever had won. Sasuke couldn’t allow that to happen. He was sure of many things and that he and Naruto belonged to one another was at the top of the list. As he finished making plates the Uchiha heard the door down the hall click open. Tiny feet padded down the hall. “I’m sorry, Sasuke.” The whispered words made black eyes dart up. “You are having to say that a lot lately Kyusuke. If you keep having to apologize for the same behavior over and over it will lead people to believe you are not truly sorry, just saying it to get out of trouble.” Sighing he passed a plate over to the child. “If you are really sorry, do not do it again.” Pouting Kyu nodded and settled at the low table. “How come your place is so traditional?” Naruto had an apartment full of western style furniture. Beds, table and chairs even sofa all in a modern trendy western style. While Sasuke had futons, floor pillows and a low table, even his living room furniture was more traditional in style. “Uchiha were rooted in tradition. Some of these things are from my childhood home and some are simply what I am comfortable around.” He answered honestly. Nodding Kyusuke smirked and asked. “If you and dad got back together would you make him give up our furniture?” “If it meant having you and your father I’d give up whatever I had to.” Sasuke didn’t even look up to answer. His son blinked in shock. Frowning, the small raven asked softly. “Do you love him that much?” “I love you both. You are my family.” This time black eyes met blue. “You know that. You made me the album.” “Then… why did you leave us?” The words hung in the air while Sasuke tried to think of the simplest way to answer the question. “I hate this village. They hurt my family. They destroyed my brother. They lied to me. In the end they abandoned me. I knew I couldn’t take your dad away from here though. So I thought I was doing the right thing by letting him go. I didn’t want to end up hating him like I hated this place. I didn’t know about you. Not until that day in the Hokage’s office.” Sasuke was opting for honesty. The kid had a way of knowing when he was lying. “I was wrong. I’m here, I’ve been here for a while now and what they did still hurts but it fades into the background when it is compared to what I have here. With you and him I’ve got a new family.” The silence reigned at the table for a long time. The clink of chopsticks against china was all that could be heard. “If you love him how can you watch him be with Neji and Sai?” “First of all, I do not watch that. I would likely put my chidori through both of them if I had to. Second, I learned a long time ago that trying to control your father or get him to do what I want by force never works.” Sasuke’s lips tipped up slightly when the mini raven snorted. “I hurt him a lot and I know he needs more time but I also know he hasn’t stopped loving me.” “What if he had? Would you stop wanting to spend time with me?” The words were soft and whispered. Sasuke was up and around the table with the sort of swiftness that forced the wind around them to sweep. Kneeling he looked right into the worried blue eyes. “If your father married another and I had no chance of ever regaining his love, I would still be your father. You would still be my son. I would never want to lose that. You are important to me Kyusuke. If you never believe another word I say, please believe that.” Sasuke went back to his seat once his little boy nodded. “I don’t really like steamed fish.” He complained finally. Sasuke didn’t respond, instead he smiled. 888 There was an uneasy truce between the Uchiha and young Uzumaki. As Kyu became more familiar with the rules and how far he could push his parents. Naruto gave him much more room to run than Sasuke which caused the two men to argue. It didn’t take Sasuke long to realize that when Kyusuke wanted certain things he would pit the two against one another. Once it had been pointed out and proven to Naruto the young ninja had been grounded for a full week. Kyusuke was so angry he hadn’t talked to Sasuke for four full days. So when the chibi showed up on his doorstep furious, Sasuke could only raise a brow and wait for an explanation. “WE have to stop this now. I am NOT having Sai as a step dad. He’s creepy!” His words caught Sasuke’s full attention. Sitting down next to his son Sasuke swallowed. “If your dad finds out we collaborated to break them up we’ll both be in the dog house.” He pointed out. “Hn, do you care? We’re joining forces for his own good. Sai is weird and gross. I don’t like him.” Kyusuke grumbled arms crossed defiantly. “If you don’t help I’m gonna do it on my own.” “That is a bad idea. If you could get rid of him on your own you would have done it already.” Sasuke muttered knowingly. “And if we get rid of him there is still Hyuuga to deal with.” He pointed out. “Uncle Neji isn’t so bad. Plus I don’t think he would push Dad. Sai is clingy and pushy and I don’t think he likes me.” Kyusuke pouted. “I don’t think Uncle Neji wants to get married, he’s trying for ANBU soon. If he gets it he’s already told Dad he can’t have more because it’s dangerous. I think when you came back Uncle Neji pretty much gave up.” Kyusuke leaned back into the sofa looking much like his dark haired parent. “Even you are better then Sai though.” “Thanks, Kid.” Sasuke looked out his window thinking. He knew all of Naruto’s buttons. He knew the best ways of getting the blond wound up so how was he to ensure that Naruto would hate Sai enough to break things off without implicating Kyusuke or himself? “We need a good plan.” “I know who to go to for great plans. Uncle Shika is a genius.” Kyusuke glanced at his father and smirked when Sasuke’s face twisted into a dark scowl. “The worst part is you’re right. How is he on the Naruto and Sai front?” Sasuke sighed rubbing his temples to ward off the headache he had coming on. Shrugging Kyusuke pouted. “He’s Uncle Shika, I don’t know that he has opinions one way or another.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
