Here's the next chapter. This chapter was tricky to write...because well you'll see. I respond to reviews here: http://xiophelia.livejournal.com
~~ Naruto grinned as he noticed the leaves beginning to turn on the trees. Fall was his favorite time of year, not because of his birthday, but because of the beautiful colors and the holidays that came with it. While he wouldn’t get to spend them with Iruka, he was going to be celebrating Halloween in true vampire fashion. Things had gotten better between him and Sasuke, but neither of them mentioned the kiss. The blond vampire wouldn’t look Sasuke in the eye anymore while the Uchiha would only grunt in answer. Things were awkward yes, but at least they weren’t at each others throat. Mikoto had noticed the shift in energy between them, but didn’t mention it. The lessons were at least better now and Naruto had finally learned how to catch a human in a trance. It was a neat trick and Sasuke had promised that if he could trance the next three people that he brought to him, then he would let the blond vampire go out with him in public. But of course, Naruto had to do it without the older vampires supervision and guidance. But the blond was confident that he was able to do it. He looked up at the moon and was glad that it would be full for the masquerade that Sasuke would be holding. Between Mikoto and Naruto begging, Sasuke had given in. Claiming that they would drive him crazy if they didn’t stop. Mikoto had giggled and Naruto had only smiled. He was grateful for Mikoto since she had made things bearable in this desolate place. Even though the garden was beautiful, it was fall and that meant that most of the flowers were dying. And the young vampire knew that even though he wouldn’t be able to tell if it was cold, he wouldn’t be spending much time out in the garden anyway. So that meant that he had to find a new hobby. He had tried talking Sasuke into getting him a gaming console, but the Uchiha had flat out refused. Naruto had grumbled for days about not being entertained enough. So Sasuke had opened the doors to the library and given him free reign of all the books that were inside. So Naruto had been spending whatever free time he had reading. But the books weren’t to his taste and he had to force himself to read them. His mind would constantly roam to what he could be doing right now if he were alive and of course to Iruka. According to Gaara he had gone missing a few days ago and no one knew where he had gone. This had Naruto worried greatly, but Iruka had done the same thing when Kakashi had gone missing, but he had Naruto with him and they had went to his parents old farm house. The blond shut the book he was reading and stared up into the sky, the stars glittering brightly. He was finding himself becoming more and more restless. He wanted to hunt badly. The blond could feel his instincts building up within him, screaming at him that this was a most beautiful night to go feed. But he couldn’t since Sasuke hadn’t deemed him ready quite yet. His instincts roared at him that the Uchiha was wrong and that he was very much capable of hunting on his own. The blond scoured the garden and noticed that no one was there. Mikoto had told him that there was some sort of family meeting tonight and that it would more than likely take up the whole night. And it was only midnight, he could hunt and be back before anyone noticed. There was a little voice in the back of head that sounded suspiciously like Iruka telling him that it was a bad idea. But he was hungry and he was successful with his last two trance attempts. He was more than ready. The blond put the book down on the bench and gave a cautious glance to the mansion. There were lights on in Fugaku’s study and it seemed that there was some movement. With his mind made up, Naruto stood and made a dash for the forest. While he wasn’t certain if there were any humans nearby, he was confident that he would at least find a town somewhere. Of course the mini Iruka in his mind was screaming bloody murder about this decision. But Naruto ignored it, enjoying the wind on his face as he ran at speeds that he never could when he was human. The world blurred around him as he increased his speed, his feet touching the ground every so often before kicking off again. As the young vampire entered the forest, he noticed that these trees were not only old but very tall as well. He crouched low and then kicked off the ground with power. Naruto laughed as he landed on a branch far above the ground. He grinned as he caught sight of the other branches in front of him and kicked off, jumping from branch to branch. He felt a freedom that he had never known before now. The weight of life no longer held him back. And that was an exhilaration that he would never forget. He jumped from tree to tree for a good while before he spotted lights in the distance. And he knew that those lights meant that there were people out here. He carefully came to a stop on the outskirt of the lights. He didn’t want humans to see him up in a tree and then have to explain himself. He carefully watched them with curious blue eyes. These were hunters judging by the guns they had packed on their back. But the curious thing about them was that they had what seemed to be silver stakes. The blond could feel his vampire survival instinct kick in. These humans hunted vampires as a lifestyle. But that wasn’t the part that bothered him. What bothered him was that Sasuke had never mentioned them. He didn’t know if the Uchiha was waiting to tell him or if they weren’t really a threat to them. They could have been crackpot crazies for all Naruto knew. He stayed perched on the branch and watched their every movement. They were certainly organized that was for sure. But even with his vampiric hearing, he couldn’t pick up what they were saying. He wished that he could read lips. He scouted the other trees around him and found one that was slightly closer, but there was still the danger of being discovered. He threw caution to the wind and jumped to the tree, silently landing. He could certainly make out what they were saying now and he didn’t like what he was hearing. These people were the real deal. Somehow they knew of the existence of vampires and had traced their origins back to the Uchiha clan. The blond knew that he had to do something about this. But what could he do? He could of course warn Sasuke’s family of the impending hunters. But then he would have to come clean about how he knew about them. He didn’t want to face Sasuke’s anger. Theoretically he could take them on his own since there were only about five of them. He was still considered a newborn and was still strong. He could take these people out in a blink of eye and hey he had a buffet right there in front of him. The blond didn’t even pause about what he had just thought. The idea of drinking blood no longer bothered him and Sasuke had said he was starting to act like a vampire more. The vampire tensed his legs muscles and was about to jump when he felt something pierce his shoulder. He hissed at the object that burned his skin. The blond narrowed furious blue eyes on the human’s below him. One had a gun that had him in its sights. As they were about to pull the trigger once more. Naruto was a blond blur on the wind as he ripped the gun from the offending humans arm, snarling in rage. The blue of his eye receded and red became the dominant color. His rage was uncontrollable as he ripped the offender’s arm from it’s socket, blood spurting across his face. He could hear the alarmed cries of the other humans and turned his attention to them. They had their weapons pointed at him and he growled in warning. When they didn’t relent, the vampire crouched and attacked the biggest human first, tearing the head from its shoulders. He licked his lips as the blood hit them. He turned a crazed look to the others and they had dropped their weapons. They seemed wary of him as they should be. He decided that since they weren’t a threat, he would leave them alone for now. They were smart enough to surrender. He ignored them for the time being as he turned his attention to the man who was missing his arm. He was still alive and the vampire was still hungry. He ignored the protests of the humans as he drank from the man who was in shock. It felt great to have this sort of power over others, making them fear you and holding their lives in your hands. He relished in the blood and the fear, it was invigorating. He hungrily drank from the human to the point of death and stopped. His guide, for lack of better word, was very clear that they could not drink a dead human’s blood. While it wasn’t deadly, it would weaken a vampire considerably. He could still feel the stinging in his shoulder. The wound wasn’t closing, but instead of being concerned it angered him further. Did they not know that he was a greater being than they were? Agitated he approached them, his hands extended ready to strike. It was then he heard a very familiar voice call his name. But he couldn’t replace it had seemed like he hadn’t heard it in forever. The vampire turned his head and saw a man with long brown hair and pale eyes. He knew this human, in fact they were close at one point. He backed away from the cowering figures before him and stared at the man. His rage fading as he stared into the pale eyes. Naruto blinked his blue eyes in confusion. He could smell the blood, its scent heavy on the air. It was then he noticed humans shivering in fear, their lips twisted closed afraid to scream. He looked around the rest of the area and noticed that their were two dead humans. He groaned sadly, he had fucked up again. This time it would not only be him who would suffer the consequences, but Sasuke as well. “Fuck,” he whispered sadly. “Naruto?” The familiar voice asked again. The blond whipped his head to his left and saw a friend from his human life. “Shit, Neji?” Naruto asked warily. If the Hyuuga was in on this, then the blond was fucked. He could never hurt his friend, even if they were pulling a trigger. “How are you here?” The pale eyed human asked as he approached the newborn vampire. He reached a hand out and touched the cool cheek gently, snapping his hand back when he realized exactly what Naruto was. “You were turned.” “Yea,” Naruto said sadly as he looked up into the night sky. “It wasn’t by choice. I guess since you’re here with these guys that you’re a hunter.” “Yes, my clan has been hunting since its creation.” Neji supplied as he too looked up into the sky. “Then you know the quickest way to kill a vampire,” the blond said as he turned pleading eyes to the Hyuuga. “Well yes…but,” then it hit him what his friend was asking for as met those blue depths. “Naruto…” “I’m going to be killed anyway for what I did here. And you kill vampires, what’s the big deal?” “The big deal idiot is that you’re my friend and even though you’re a vampire, I couldn’t kill you,” Neji turned furious pale eyes on his friend. “At least you could kill me quickly! I’m sure that when they get wind of this, my death will not be quick!” Naruto yelled, clenching his fists in anger. The hunter turned and pulled the blond close to his body, resting his chin on the soft hair. “Naruto I love you. I always have that’s why I can’t kill you. You’re the first person who ever saw me. I can’t just let you go. I was so upset when you were proclaimed dead. But you’re here in my arms and I can’t let you go. Come home with me.” The blond cried into the chest in front of him. Neji had always been there for him when things didn’t go well. And now he was here as well for this. But he couldn’t do as the human asked, his life was forfeit now because of his actions. And if Neji wouldn’t do it, he was certain that one of the other clan members would as soon as they realized what he was. “I can’t Neji, I don’t belong in that world anymore,” the vampire responded as he withdrew his head from the chest. He couldn’t believe that he ran into someone from his old life here. He felt his emotions warring at the contact from his past life. Neji smiled sadly. “Then let me make love to you before…” Naruto’s cool hand cupped the human’s cheek as he returned the same smile. “I’d like that. It’d be nice to feel love before I go.” As Neji leaned down to kiss the vampire, he was ripped from him. He landed on the ground, his arm jarred from the impact. He glared up at the vampire that was standing protectively in front of his old friend. It was then he noticed the red eyes with the black spinning circles. This was an Uchiha, his target. “Move and you die,” the older vampire snarled, his fangs glinting in the moonlight. “Naruto head back to the mansion. I’ll deal with this pest.” The younger vampire grabbed onto the Uchiha’s shirt and turned him around. “Please don’t kill him. He’s my friend.” Sasuke sighed. Of course the moron would be friends with the clan that was trying to kill his. “Moron, he’s a danger to our family.” “So? Wipe his memory of this night. Please, I know you can do it. Just don’t kill him,” the blond pleaded as he burrowed his head into Sasuke’s neck. The Uchiha wrapped his arms around the shaking vampire. Sasuke would have preferred killing the Hyuuga, but for Naruto’s sake he would wipe his memory. “Fine, I’ll do it.” Naruto pulled back and smiled brightly. “Thank you so much.” “Go say goodbye because this will be the last time you’ll ever see him.” Sasuke growled as the Hyuuga got up. Naruto nodded and approached Neji. He didn’t want the Hyuuga to live with the fact that he was still alive and couldn’t tell anyone else. Furthermore, he couldn’t let Neji go on knowing that he was a vampire and forever out of his reach. That they couldn’t be together because he would die while Naruto lived on. “I’m sorry Neji, this was the only way I could save you,” Naruto whispered as he leaned up placed a kiss on the Hyuuga’s lips. Neji’s arms wrapped around Naruto as he kissed back fervently, letting the blond know his feelings one last time. The hunter could feel a heated gaze on them, but he ignored it as he licked the blond vampire’s lips, asking for entrance. Naruto gave him access and he plundered his mouth, reveling in the taste of Naruto even though there was a hint of blood. He pulled away from the vampire when the need for air became too great. He rested his head against Naruto’s. “Don’t let him push too far and remember that we all love you no matter what.” Blood began fall from Naruto’s eyes at Neji’s words. This was almost worse than dealing with Iruka. Neji was actually here and knew what he was now, was aware that he was alive and yet they had to wipe this night from his memory. He clutched Neji’s shirt tight in his hands, not wanting to let go of his friend. “You have to let go now Naruto. It’s time.” Neji said as he placed his warm hands over the cool ones. “Maybe if fate is kind enough, we’ll meet again.” Naruto only nodded as his hands were removed from the human’s shirt. Naruto reluctantly headed back to the mansion, not wanting to witness his friend loosing his memory. The trees were blurred as he jumped from branch to branch. His heart felt heavy as the distance between him and Neji grew. He wished that he had never taken off. It wasn’t long before he came to the garden and he noticed Mikoto’s presence immediately. He ran straight into her open arms and began to sob. The female vampire wrapped her arms around Naruto and held him as he cried. She had no idea why the blond was so sad, but she would comfort him the best she could. When he collapsed against her, she slid to her knees bring the young vampire with her. She ran her hand through his hair as she sung lightly. ~~ Naruto awoke the next night and didn’t move from the spot on his bed. He stared listlessly into the room, not noticing that Sasuke had already risen for the night. When the Uchiha had returned the previous night, he had explained that he wiped Neji’s memory and that the human did not remember a thing and believed that the blond was still dead. Sasuke had been short with him and that had hurt the most. The Uchiha had yelled at him in length about his stupidity and that the blond was inconsiderate for the safety of the clan. The older vampire had also suggested that he would have kicked him out after the incident if it weren’t for his mother protecting him. Naruto wailed at the turmoil that welled up within him. He resented this existence and felt that if he was not wanted here then he would leave. He never asked Sasuke to take care of him. He remembered back to the first time he had met him that night at Gaara’s. The vampires were arguing about Itachi and having some vampire track him down. The blonds eyes widened as he remembered the name that was mentioned. He tore out of the bed and went in search of Sasuke, deadly intent rolling off of him in waves. As he stalked through the mansion, the others that were staying there scurried out of his way. The rage was welling up within him again. He couldn’t believe that he had ignored Kakashi’s name during that first meeting. He should have recognized that name the first night but he had been too concerned about himself at the moment to care. He stopped in front of library before forcing the doors open and entering. His angry blue eyes scanning the room for his prey. And when he found him, Naruto attacked. He tackled Sasuke to the floor and began to punch the Uchiha in the face, his lips curled up into a snarl. The Uchiha wasn’t going to take the sudden attack lying down and flipped their positions. Naruto was now starting to lose some of his newborn strength so he was easier to maneuver. The older vampire held the blonds hands under one hand and above his head. His legs were interlocked with Naruto’s so that he wouldn’t be able to buck him off. “What the fuck is that about moron?” Sasuke snarled, his eyes burning with anger. “The Kakashi Gaara mentioned the first night I met you, is his last name Hatake?” Naruto growled. “What business is it of yours?” Sasuke asked as he leaned closer. “Because he was Iruka’s boyfriend you fucktard!” Naruto yelled as he brought his head up and head butted Sasuke hard, knocking the Uchiha off him. The older vampire roared at the pain. And swiped Naruto across the face, nails digging into the skin. “So what? He’s not the same man you once knew!” “I want to see him!” The younger vampire yelled, bringing his hand up to the wound on his face. “Kakashi hasn’t set foot in this mansion in years, he won’t come to see you.” “Yes he will! Tell him what I am now, or are you too afraid? You know of our connection and you purposefully kept us from one another!” The anger was ignited even further and the blond went for Sasuke once again. “Fuck Naruto stop this now!” Sasuke yelled as the blond took a chunk of flesh from his shoulder as he dodged the hand. “Naruto! Stop that right now!” A voice shouted from the doorway. The blond turned his head and stared in disbelief at the figure. “Kakashi?” The blond asked and then ran to him. “Kakashi!” He said once more as he hugged the man that he had considered a second father. “Naruto…” Kakashi said as he hugged the younger vampire. “I came as soon as I heard. I’m sorry I’m late, but you see I had to pick up a dolphin.” The younger vampire pulled back and blinked his eyes in question. His eyebrows furrowed together as he tried to think on what Kakashi had meant. It was then he saw a familiar pony tail peaking out from behind the vampire. Naruto shoved Kakashi out of the way and pounced his father, crying as he did so. “Naruto!” Iruka cried happily as the blond nuzzled him, ticking the skin with his hair. The brunet brought his arms around his son and held him as he began to sob. The other vampires in the room were silent as father and son had a reunion. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
