A/N: This story is forcing itself to the forefront, along with a yet released story. The other two are still writing, just not as quickly.
Review Responses:
Nejislady: I hope you like it when I finally get the new Sasuke/Gaara story up for you. As for this story, I let you know how it’s possible that Minato didn’t know about Naruto to be part of his life. I had to get them a baby somehow, and I couldn’t convince my fingers to type a natural pregnancy, so I had to come up with something for them. I hope this isn’t anything too disappointing…I hope this chapter doesn’t disappoint either.
Na-Chan: Thanks for the review! They are my crack, and make me write so much faster.
The Simi: I love having Zetsu arguing with himself. So far as my muse has thus far seen, the baby is safe. I hope this chapter effectively answers your questions about Minato. You always seem to ask the questions I plan on answering in the next chapter (which is what I hope to accomplish), so thank you!
Chapter Seven
Naruto groaned. The pain pills were effectively doing their job, but there was still discomfort especially since he refused to stop trying to do things for himself. Sasuke sighed and pushed his husband back down on the bed. “The doctor said to rest this weekend sweetie. I’m here with you. Let me take care of you, please.”
Naruto smiled at his extremely attentive husband. Seeing the look of pure love and concern on Sasuke’s face, Naruto relented. “Fine. I was trying to get the remote so I could change the channel.”
Sasuke smiled and grabbed the TV remote and crawled up into the bed next to Naruto. “What do you want to watch, baby?”
Naruto shrugged. “Videos?” Sasuke nodded and turned the music videos on. Naruto wrapped his arms around Sasuke’s waist. “You’re happy with this right?”
Sasuke smirked and kissed Naruto passionately. “Extremely happy. I know that you lost your parents very young and I know you know about my family. I want to give a kid a normal childhood, you know?”
Naruto nodded. It had taken him almost a year to tell Sasuke why he’d even ended up with a boyfriend who would sell him off and why there were no parents to search for him. When his mother and father had died in a car crash when he was two he’d been sent to an orphanage. Eventually he got moved into foster care and was bounced from home to home. When he went missing his foster parents just told the system he’d run away. They pretended to search for him, but they hadn’t really cared. They just got another foster child and kept going with their lives.
Sasuke cuddled closer to Naruto. “Do you want anything to eat yet? You slept pretty hard last night and didn’t seem too hungry.”
Naruto smiled softly. “I am kind of hungry. Can I have some chicken soup and some crackers?”
Sasuke nodded. “Is that all you want?” Naruto smiled and nodded. “All right then, I’ll call room service up for you.” Sasuke left the room and Naruto couldn’t help the enormous grin spreading across his face. He knew his body and could feel that there was something different. His body had taken the egg. They were going to have a child.
Sasuke returned and crawled back onto the bed. “What’s that smile for?” He smirked. “You know don’t you? Did the egg take?”
Naruto laughed softly. “I wouldn’t be smiling if it hadn’t.”
Sasuke bent his head to Naruto’s chest so he wouldn’t see the tears falling. Naruto still felt the slight shaking of his body though, and the wet tears soaked through his shirt. “Sasuke, please stop crying. I know they’re happy tears, but tears of any kind make me sad.”
Sasuke took a deep breath and centered himself. “I can try, Naruto.” He smiled at his husband’s disbelieving blue eyes. “All right, fine. I will.”
Naruto smiled. “Can I ask you something? Did that doctor remind you a lot of me?”
Sasuke laughed softly. “Yeah, he did. Blond hair, blue eyes, cute muscles.”
Naruto growled. “You better not have been checking out his body.” He started pouting. “I told you that you wouldn’t like me once I was pregnant.”
Sasuke laughed. “Shut up, you big baby. Just take a nap while we wait for the food to arrive.” Naruto wanted to argue but his body was sleepy. Before he knew it Sasuke was rubbing his stomach lightly. “Food is here baby.” He smirked. “Babies, I guess.”
Naruto laughed softly as Sasuke helped him sit up. “I love you, Sasuke.”
Sasuke smiled fondly at Naruto and brushed his hair out of his eyes. “I know, baby. I know.”
**********************
Sasuke and Naruto sat across from Doctor Namikaze. They hadn’t told anyone yet just in case the procedure failed. There was no reason to get everyone excited before they knew whether or not it would work. They had told Yamato; not to get his permission, but as the band manager, he did need to know what kinds of things the band was doing. He thought the fans would be receptive of it as a whole. They had been very receptive of Naruto and Sasuke being a couple after all. Naruto smiled at the doctor. “So, do you know whether or not the pregnancy took?”
Dr. Namikaze laughed. “I do know, but I have to discuss something with Sasuke first. My nurse needs to run a few more tests on you, though. We need to make sure that your body is not rejecting the fake uterus.”
Naruto smiled and nodded. He squeezed Sasuke’s hand left the room with the nurse. Dr. Namikaze sighed. “I should come clean before this goes any further. I want to be your personal doctor. I’m sure you’re interested in knowing why.”
Sasuke nodded. “I would like to know. I’m so distrusting of people, yet you seem to be immune to that distrust, and I’m a little troubled by that.”
The doctor chuckled again. It was so much like Naruto’s. He dropped his eyes. “I’m Naruto’s dad.”
Sasuke’s eyes bugged. “I didn’t hear that right.”
Doctor Namikaze sighed. “No you did.”
Sasuke’s face immediately fell into the trademarked Uchiha glare. “You’d better explain yourself quickly. How could you let Naruto live the life he led?”
The doctor at least had the decency to look ashamed. “Here’s the thing, I never knew about Naruto until he was four, and then I never knew his name or where he lived. I hired private detectives the world over, but no one could find any information for me.” He put his hands in his head and seemed to age in front of Sasuke’s eyes. “I didn’t know his mother was pregnant when she left me. She put her new husband’s name on Naruto’s birth certificate. I received a letter from her almost two years after she had died. I don’t know why or how, but it didn’t show up until then. She told me she left because she thought I was too immature to handle a child. She’d been seeing someone else and was putting his name on the certificate as Naruto’s father. The first time I actually saw Naruto was after he was all ready a part of the band. He looked so much like me that I had someone go try to get a DNA sample for me so I could run a paternity test. Needless to say, I failed. I can’t say for certain without DNA testing that he’s my son, but that was her name Uzumaki.”
Sasuke sighed. The man truly seemed devastated about missing out on his son’s life. “Look, I can’t forgive you for Naruto. I don’t know how much you know about his life, but it hasn’t been pretty. He’ll probably be pretty angry at you for never coming to find him. I assume you didn’t just check his DNA since you said you still need the testing to be certain. I’ll ask him to give you a sample. I want you to take him out for supper and talk to him. I’ll leave the two of you alone so you can get to know one another, but as I said, I’m not suspicious of you, and I can only assume that means you are a good man. I was not kidding when I said I’m suspicious of everyone.” Sasuke shrugged and let a small smile grace his lips. “What’s your first name?”
The man who was probably going to be his father-in-law one day smiled. “Minato. Thank you, Sasuke, for giving me this chance.”
Sasuke shrugged. “If you truly are a good man, Naruto deserves the chance to know he’s not alone in the world. I mean, he has me, but he would like knowing he has family. He would like knowing our child has a biological grandfather somewhere. He’s always going to have Kiba’s family and my brother, but neither of us have parents left, or we thought we didn’t.”
The door opened and Naruto returned with the nurse. “What did I miss?” He was still smiling from ear to ear. Sasuke really hated the thought that he might ruin that. Naruto shrugged, “What?”
Sasuke smiled. “Naruto, Doctor Namikaze needs a vial of your blood.”
Naruto shook his head. “Why? What’s wrong?”
Sasuke pulled Naruto toward him and kissed his temple. “Nothing, love.” Sasuke turned to Minato. “You talk to him tonight. Take him out tonight. If he’s upset when I get him back, past a reasonable point, I’ll send people after you.”
Doctor Namikaze smiled, collected the blood, and nodded. “I’ll be by your room around eight.”
Sasuke nodded and pulled Naruto up. “The baby took, Nar. We can tell everyone about him now.”
Naruto smiled. “How do you know it’s a him?”
Sasuke laughed as the door shut behind them. “We only have Y chromosomes, so neither of us can give the X chromosome necessary to make a girl. Does it matter?”
Naruto shook his head. “Nothing matters as long as I have you.”
Sasuke smiled. “I hope you still feel that way later.”
******************************
Hinata shrieked and carefully hugged Naruto. “A baby? Oh my god! I’m so happy for you, but it’s going to be the funniest thing in the world watching my male friend go through what I had to go through.”
Itachi smiled and put his arm around Sasuke’s shoulders. “I’m happy for you, Sas. I know you really wanted this.”
Sasuke smiled and leaned over Naruto to give him a kiss. “I did. I’m glad it worked. We’re going to be very happy.” He nuzzled Naruto’s neck. “Are you ready to go?”
Naruto nodded. “I still don’t understand why you want me to have dinner with our doctor though.”
Sasuke smiled, but managed to hide his worry and fear and sadness. “Just humor me, okay? And if you want to kill me when you get back, you can.”
Naruto cringed. “I don’t like the sound of this. Who’s coming with me?”
Sasuke shrugged. “I think Obito is sending one of the less intimidating people with so that he’s not too afraid to talk to you.” Sasuke smiled sadly. Hopefully his uncle would send someone who wasn’t imposing, but was still strong enough to protect Naruto if he needed it.
Kiba smirked. “You’re sending your husband out with the doctor that impregnated him?”
Sasuke smirked. “I impregnated him. The doctor just made sure it worked.” He sighed. “Get up, Nar. He’ll be here soon.”
Itachi watched their interaction with veiled interest. He knew when Sasuke was hiding something. He’d been reading the boy his entire life. Naruto was just finished dressing when the phone rang to inform them they had a visitor in the lobby. Naruto smiled at Sasuke. “Are you sure you won’t come with?”
Sasuke shook his head. “I think this is something you need to do. Trust me, please?”
Naruto nodded and gave Sasuke a kiss before heading to the hallway. Sasuke caught the familiar face of Deidara in the hallway. “Thank you, Deidara. Watch him closely, please.”
Deidara waved to Sasuke and nodded. The door shut behind Naruto. Sasuke sighed and hung his head while riffling his fingers through his hair. He was nervous. He had no idea how Naruto would take the news. He knew this man had to be Naruto’s father though. It was just too painfully obvious. Itachi sat beside Sasuke and stopped his hands from pulling on his hair. “Sas, what’s wrong?”
Sasuke sighed and looked at the gathered members of the band. “At least I’m only going to have to say it once. God, I’m so nervous that he’ll be mad at me for not telling him, but I really think it’s better coming from Minato. Oh fuck.”
Kiba growled. “Is this something that will hurt Naruto? I like you Sasuke, but I’m not afraid to fuck you up.”
Sasuke shook his head. “I hope it will be something that makes Naruto happy, eventually. I just don’t know if he’ll see the pain in those eyes or if he’ll just feel the pain in his own heart.”
Itachi backed Kiba off with a glare and kneeled in front of Sasuke. “Sasuke you need to tell us what’s going on.”
Sasuke sighed and dropped his head again. “He’s Naruto’s father.”
Jaws dropped all around the circle. The faces contorted, feeling the same way as Sasuke. No one knew whether to be happy Naruto had family or beat the bastard for not finding Naruto sooner.
*****************
Naruto smiled at Deidara. Once he realized the man didn’t have it in for Sasuke, and was working for Obito, Naruto had grown to like the guy. He was kind of an airhead, but he knew really good jokes. He also was very devoted to the band. He’d become a body guard for them over any of Obito’s other jobs. He was always somewhere near the band. He also didn’t seem all that imposing. Naruto shifted again as he looked at the man in the seat next to him. “So, what’s this meeting for? Sasuke wouldn’t tell me.”
Minato smiled fondly at his son in the seat next to him. The DNA test had confirmed his suspicions. “I’ll tell you once we’re eating. I just wanted to spend some time with you.”
Naruto shrugged and turned back to the front of the car. If Sasuke trusted the man, Naruto would as well. “Thank you, again, for our child.”
Deidara choked in the backseat. “Child, Naruto?”
Naruto smiled at the ponytailed blonde. “He made it so Sasuke and I can have our own flesh and blood child. I’m carrying it right now.”
Deidara’s eyes bugged out. “Wow, freak of nature, but good for you.”
Naruto laughed. “You should talk about freak of nature. You and your obsession with mouths.”
Deidara chuckled. The trio pulled up to a sushi restaurant and Naruto smiled. “Thank you for this. I love sushi.”
Minato shrugged. “Let’s just try to have a good time.” Naruto nodded and left the car followed by Deidara. Deidara sighed. He had to pee, but he’d have to wait for Naruto to go. They were seated at their table and made small talk until their order arrived. Minato took a deep breath and looked straight into Naruto’s eyes. “Naruto, I’m your father.”
Naruto choked on the sushi he’d just been cramming down his throat. Deidara clapped him on the back and he managed to swallow the bite of food. He looked at the man. “What kind of sick joke is this? My father died when I was two.”
Minato shook his head. “No, I’m sorry, Naruto. He wasn’t your father. He may have been by marriage, but not by blood. I did the paternity test after you left my office today.”
Naruto sighed. This was what Sasuke didn’t want him to be upset with him for. He couldn’t find it in his heart to be angry at Sasuke. He glared at the doctor in front of him. “Why didn’t you come for me after she died?”
Minato shook his head. “If I had known you had existed, I would have. I didn’t find out I had a son until you were four. Then no one could find you. I didn’t know your name or where your mother had moved. I would never have let you be used the way you have been if I had known where you were. I tried to get in contact with you when I first saw your band, but I couldn’t get through. You have very dedicated friends in that band who refuse to let anyone through they think might hurt you. I can see your husband is the same way.”
Naruto smiled at the mention of Sasuke’s name. “Yeah, he’s great. I just wish that he’d have told me why I needed to go on this meeting.” He sighed. “Don’t think I’m not angry with you, because I really am outraged. I just have the feeling that you’re telling me the truth. I want you to keep being our doctor, okay?”
Deidara groaned. Naruto looked over and quirked a brow. “I have to go.”
Naruto laughed. “Go. I’ll be fine for the time it takes you to pee.”
Deidara looked skeptical. “If something does happen, Obito will skin my hide for it. You want me to get into trouble, blondie?”
Naruto shook his head. “No, but I don’t have to go, and I know you have to wait for me. I’m giving you permission to take the piss before you go on the floor.”
Deidara glared at Naruto but then smiled. “Thanks, Naru. I’ll be back in like 30 seconds. Thank you. Thank you.” He got up and sprinted for the bathroom. He would only be gone for like 2 minutes at the most, what kind of trouble could Naruto get into?
When he exited the bathroom he just knew something was wrong. His eyes scanned the restaurant, but he couldn’t find either Naruto or his father. He ran outside and saw Zetsu pulling Naruto into a van and Minato running, trying to catch up with them. The van squealed out of its parking space and Minato collapsed to the pavement. He was crying hard. Deidara picked him up and brought them to Minato’s car. “We have to follow. Can you drive?”
Minato shook his head. His tears wouldn’t subside. Deidara tossed him into the passenger’s seat and got behind the driver’s seat. He chased the van through the streets. It was difficult with all the traffic, but they had to get Naruto back. “That fucking split-personality fucking fuck!” Deidara screamed as they chased the van. “I’m going to personally see to it there’s nothing left of the stupid fucker.”
Suddenly, the van was gone. Deidara was stuck behind a funeral procession out of nowhere. Where had the van gone? How could he have missed it? “FUCK!” he hollered.
Minato seemed to realize what had just happened was serious. “What was that? Why did they want my son?”
Deidara tensed, “They?”
Minato nodded. “There were two of them. One had a lot of scars and one had a tattoo covering half his face. They came in, stuck a knife to Naruto’s neck, and dragged him out to the parking lot. I tried to get to him, but they were too quick. I don’t even know where they came from.”
Deidara nodded. “Don’t worry. This isn’t your fault. It’s mine. It was my job not to leave Naruto unattended. Let’s get back. Sasuke has to be informed as soon as possible. Obito will want to start forming a plan as soon as possible. I need to go back and face my punishment.”
Minato closed his eyes. “You shouldn’t have a punishment. You didn’t do anything wrong. Naruto told you to pee. We thought we were safe.”
Deidara shook his head. “After what happened to Sasuke, Obito made us all swear we’d never leave our clients alone. I failed. I deserve whatever comes my way.”
Deidara and Minato both pulled up to the hotel. Obito was waiting in the lobby with Kisame. Deidara hung his head as he entered one Naruto short. “I failed. Punish me as you see fit,” he whispered to Obito.
Minato shook his head. “Please don’t punish him. He had to pee. Naruto pretty much forced him to go. We, Naruto and I, didn’t think anything could happen in two minutes.”
Obito’s eyes were dangerously sharp. “He should still have known better.”
Deidara hung his head in shame. Nothing Obito could do to him would be worse than the pain he was feeling at losing Naruto. He’d come to think of the blond as a brother. He couldn’t believe he’d let Naruto get captured. “It was Zetsu and an accomplice. I don’t know who he was. Minato said he had lots of scars.”
Obito sighed and nodded. “Deidara, take Minato home. Then come back here and straight to me. Kisame and I will deal with you how we see fit.”
Deidara nodded and brought Naruto’s father back to his home. “We’ll find your son and get him back.”
*******************************
Zetsu sighed as he stroked Naruto’s hair. Kakuzu had knocked the blond out so he’d be easier to get into the van. He didn’t want to do this to a man he loved. He wanted to give Naruto back to Sasuke, but even the second he thought those thoughts his other self would reign him in. He sighed. “Please be all right, Naruto.”
Naruto cracked a blue eye and tried to move. He found he couldn’t. “Where am I?” He asked groggily.
Zetsu sighed and pushed Naruto’s hair back out of his face. “I’m sorry, Naruto-kun.” “I’m not. We’re holding your scrawny pale answer for ransom. Either your pretty boy husband pays us the money we ask for, or we sell you to the highest bidder.” “Shut up! It’s not going to happen. We’re not going to hurt Naruto.” “No, but only because Kakuzu said not to. If he gave me the go ahead to kick blondie’s ass, I’d be all over it.”
Naruto groaned. It had to be Zetsu. “Sasuke will pay whatever you ask of him. Just make sure he has time to get the money withdrawn from his account.”
Kakuzu chuckled from across the room. Naruto was scared when he heard the dark, almost demonic, voice. “Sasuke has three days to get it. We spoke with him moments ago. He will not be disappointing us.”
Naruto recognized the next voice as his bus driver. “Kaku, baby, we really should let him up. He’s going to be having a baby after all. We should make sure he doesn’t lose the baby. I think Sasuke would be pissed off, and we’d have a bounty issued by Uchihas on our heads.”
Naruto looked up as his bonds were loosened and he was brought to the couch. He saw the purple eyes of the bus driver. “Did you touch Sasuke’s camera?”
Hidan laughed. “Not even close. I let Zetsu on the bus.”
Naruto groaned. He was feeling sick. “I need the bathroom.”
Hidan motioned Zetsu. “Go with him. You can let the good twin out for the trip. If he tries to escape, let evil back out.”
Zetsu sighed and shook his head as he helped Naruto to the bathroom. “I’m so sorry, Naruto,” Zetsu cried as he led Naruto to the bathroom.
Naruto exhaled deeply. He could tell there was something wrong. One part of Zetsu seemed to be mourning this and the other side seemed to want him to die. He bit his lower lip and refused to let the tears fall. He had to be strong for Sasuke and their baby. After all, these goons were only after money, and Sasuke had plenty and he knew it didn’t mean much to Sasuke. “Just help me so nothing happens to the baby.”
