A/N: Wow, okay… So I just want to warn you to enjoy this last little mostly happy chapter and the mostly happy chapter following because after that the story goes a little dark for a while. It made me mad writing it, and now I need to take a break for a while. Maybe I won’t write again until Monday, so that’s why I’m not going to post more than one chapter a day. That way you will have something new to read each day this weekend and Monday. I think chapter 10 will be just as hard to write as chapter 9 was. I don’t think it’s going to get any happier any time soon, either. At least not as far as Sasuke and Naruto have let me know…though there may be some happy things in the chapters just to balance out the need to commit suicide after reading.

Ero-Sennin: When do I get new material from you? Did you muse die? I could lend you one of mine. Mine are being dark and depressing right now though. Last I checked you were still on chappy 10. And yes, let’s hear it for stay at home moms that don’t go crazy and kill their children and instead do productive things like write smut. *wink, wink*
Jess249: Thanks for still reading. At least I haven’t lost my nice reviewers. It can’t be too boring yet.
SEVEN
I sighed. It had been almost three weeks since I’d been in Minneapolis with the band. I’d had no further run-ins with either my family or Pein. People took my black eye a little worse than I had hoped, especially Sakura.
“Sasuke!” Sakura shrieked at me. I sighed and just rolled my eyes. “Sasuke, who did this to you?”
I sighed. I knew that Sakura was going to make a big deal about this, but I had hoped that she would have had the decency to do it once I got into the back room and not in front of customers. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Tsuande came out to see what all the fuss was about. When she saw my face she dragged me to the back room. “What’s up, Sasuke?”
I shrugged. “Don’t worry. The situation is being handled. Just so you know, my uncle has deemed it necessary for me to have a body guard so there will be a bulky guy sitting outside the store while I’m working.”
She eyed me suspiciously but let it pass. “If you need anything for your eye or a break or anything, just let me know. Is someone staying with you?”
I nodded. “Itachi moved in last night. He’s got some remodeling going on and is crashing at my place.” She nodded and let me go back to work.
I sighed again and took a sip of the coffee Shikamaru had brought me at the tattoo parlor. I turned to my friends. “No one has been bothering you guys, have they?”
Everyone shook their heads. Neji turned toward me and put his hand on my shoulder. “You’re really in big trouble aren’t you? That black eye may be gone, but I can’t help but notice the bulky bodyguard is not.”
I nodded. “This whole mess is big. I promised my uncle that I wouldn’t tell you much about it though. He seems to think you’d be targeted if you knew.”
Neji nodded. “I’ve been involved in quite a few family scandals. I know nothing as big as this, but still, I understand.”
The bells chimed and I tensed for just a moment before seeing Itachi walk in. “Hey, ‘Tachi.” I said offhandedly. “What can I do for you?”
He smirked at me. “You forgot your cell at home and Naruto called. I thought you might like to call him back.”
I blushed. Naruto and I had talked every night on the phone. I missed him more than I’d ever admit to anyone, especially him. If I told him how much I missed him, he might just quit the tour to take care of me and I couldn’t have that, both because I didn’t need to be taken care of and he needed to be with his band. Still, I couldn’t help but tell him that I missed him when I spoke to him. Nothing more than one line, a simple ‘I miss you’ which was always instantly returned. This was his life if he wanted to date a famous rockstar and he’d have to accept that.
I loved the man; I could finally admit that aloud even to someone other than Naruto. It was nothing to call a man my boyfriend, but to use the word love, well that was something that Uchiha Sasuke had ever done before. Naruto was something special though; he made me do lots of things that I had never done before.
I had softened towards my friends before meeting Naruto. They had seen my smiles and my relaxed attitude. They had seen the person I would have been if I’d never been born an Uchiha. However, until Naruto, no one else had seen that side of me. I was still a heartless bastard toward everyone else; I just didn’t make as much of a deal out of hiding when I was happy about something or when I was sad.
“Thanks, ‘Tachi,” I said with a small smile. “You going to be home right away tonight or should I bring the muscle home?”
Itachi smirked. “You could bring him home anyway. I wouldn’t mind. You know how well we get along.” He waved and headed out the door.
I sighed. Neji cocked an eyebrow towards the hulk in the corner. “What’s that all about?” He asked me.
I smirked. “’Tachi and Baki get along really well, if you get my drift.” Neji and Shikamaru smirked at the now obviously uncomfortable man. Temari and Shino were caught up in conversation as usual, but I could see that they had both caught the mental image of Itachi and Baki in bed together.
I turned to Neji, “You don’t mind if I take this in the back room, right?”
He shook his head. Iruka sighed, “You do realize I’m the one you should be asking that question, right?”
I shrugged my shoulders, “Well?” He smiled at me and jerked his thumb in the direction of the back room. I redialed the last number in my missed calls. I waited anxiously until I heard, “Hello?” from the other end of the line.
I smiled. “Hey, baby. I forgot to bring my phone with me, but ‘Tachi saved me.” I waited through the laughter on the other end. “What’s up?”
Naruto laughed. “Nothing really. I just wanted to talk to my amazing boyfriend for a while.”
I smirked. “You’re just sad that we didn’t get to finish that last time and you’re looking for wanking material, aren’t you?”
Naruto blushed. I swear I could hear it. “Well, yes, I wish we wouldn’t have been interrupted for more reason than one. And I guess yes I have been wanking to images of you, but what kind of boyfriend would I be if I were imagining anyone else?”
I laughed appreciatively. “True enough. Did you have a good show today?”
“Yeah, I did. It was great.” He paused a little and snickered, “Kisame calls Obito almost all the time. He does a good job watching over us though. There’ve been a couple of experiences that make him nervous, but otherwise it’s been fine.”
I sighed again. “Well, that’s good anyway. My father hasn’t made any moves on me here. Neither has Pein. I don’t know how much of that has to do with Baki and how much is them thinking I’m suddenly going to go of my own free will, but it’s nice not being hassled.” I pouted a little, sticking out my bottom lip. “I miss you.”
“I miss you, too.” I could hear that Naruto was wearing the same look on his face. “It’s only two weeks now though. You’re coming earlier, right? Not just for the concert but as soon as we get in.”
“Yeah,” I couldn’t keep the excitement out of my voice. “The first thing I’m going to do when I see you is pull you into the nearest bedroom or bathroom and fuck you until you’re retarded.” I couldn’t help the little smirk in my voice as I said, “Which shouldn’t be too hard.”
Naruto growled. “Oh shut up you bastard.” He whined a little and said something to the background. “Fine,” he sighed. “Kiba said I have to go. Apparently we have a photo shoot or something. I miss you, and I can’t wait to see you again.”
I frowned. “Bye, baby. Thinking of you until next time.” I clicked my phone shut and wiped the stray tear from my eye. I took a deep breath and went out to the front again.
“So,” Neji smirked from his spot in Shikamaru’s lap. “How’s your boyfriend?”
I managed to keep the blush from my cheeks and fix Neji with an ice-glare. “Fine, thank you. Said he can’t wait to get more of my great cock.”
Iruka blushed. “Um, Sasuke, you have a customer.”
I looked over to the chairs and saw a guy with kind of long blond hair, bangs swept over one eye and the rest pulled into a high pony tail. “You next, sunshine?” I asked him. I was in a good mood from talking to Naruto and it bubbled over into my attitude.
He giggled a little. “Yeah, I guess so.” He stood up and walked over to the counter. “I want to get a tattoo of a bird on my arm. Probably like a dove or something.”
“Sure,” I nodded. I noticed he had open mouths tattooed on both hands. I nodded toward them, “Those mouths are fucking cool.”
He smirked. “My boyfriend tattooed them on for me.” He sighed. “We broke up a while ago though, so I guess no more free tattoos from him.”
I shrugged. “This one won’t cost you too much.” I showed him the sketch I had worked up while we were talking. “You like this one?”
He nodded. “That looks great. How much?”
I looked down, “You said arm, right?” He nodded. “$100. It’s a little lower than it would be because of the location. Arms never take me quite as long.”
The blond smirked. “That sounds good. My name’s Deidara, by the way.”
I extended my hand and led him back to my room, “Sasuke.” I sat him down in the chair and organized the few things I needed for the simple tattoo.
I finished the tattoo very quickly. I was a great artist and the design was simple. “All done,” I said as I squirted his arm with a little water and wiped away the excess ink. “Check it out before I bandage it up.”
He went over to the mirror. “It looks good.”
I bandaged it up and set about cleaning up some of my equipment while saying, “Four hours before you take that off. You’re good to go though.” I continued cleaning my space and equipment until I realized he hadn’t left. I turned around and saw he was holding a rather large hand gun. “What the fuck?”
He smirked and walked a little closer to me. “I have a message for you from Pein.” He stuck the gun into my stomach as he licked the shell of my ear whispering, “I’m not afraid of that muscle following you around. It’s time for you to accept your fate and make the transition to the Akatsuki family.” He backed away and put the gun back in his jacket. He licked his lips. “You know, if you don’t want Pein, I’d take you.”
I was shaking, and I couldn’t find my voice. I hadn’t even suspected this man of anything and he pulled a gun on me. Apparently when Obito said never to be alone, he meant never be alone. This Deidara walked out the door calmly, as if he hadn’t just attacked me. I gulped once before yelling out, “Don’t let him leave.”
Baki stood in his way. “What the fuck did you do to Sasuke?”
Deidara smirked before pulling his gun on Baki. “Nothing. I’ll do nothing to you, too, as long as you don’t stop me from leaving.”
Baki swallowed noticeably before nodding. Deidara walked outside and hopped into a waiting black sedan. Neji growled, “What the fuck was that?”
Baki sighed. “I pack, but I won’t open fire in a shop like this. Don’t worry; we’ve got a good look at his face. I’ll have some people work on tracking him down and having a chat with him.”
I growled. “I guess this means you have to come with me when I do tattoos now, too.” I kicked the counter, “Fuck this shit. I’m going to my father. I’m telling him to go to hell. I’m so fucking sick of it all.”
Baki shook his head. “Don’t do something stupid. Obito told you to stay away from your family. He meant it.”
I sighed and shook my head. Itachi and Obito had laid ground rules for me as soon as we got back.
I shut the door of Obito’s car and drug my suitcase inside. Itachi was standing at the window and opened the door for us. “I don’t want to hear it ‘Tachi,” I sighed.
Instead Itachi turned to Obito. “How much did you tell him?”
Obito shrugged. “Everything. He needed to know it. He’s in deeper than any of us realized, even if he didn’t know it himself.”
Itachi nodded and helped me set my bag down and plopped me on the couch before drawing the blinds. He sighed. “I checked the place out for bugs and found some. It’s clean now. Father will know that we are more or less declaring war against him now though.”
I gritted my teeth. “I’m going to kill that bastard. He’s putting Naruto in danger, and I won’t stand for that.”
Itachi sat down in front of me on the coffee table. “You will not go near that man. If you do, he may just kill you on the spot or worse. He’s been known to be abusive, and not just fist fights.”
Obito sighed. “All right, here’s what I’ve learned about the family that is after you. They are the Akatsuki family. They pretty much dominate every continent but North America. The only reason they aren’t as strong here is because of Madara and your father. They plan on joining forces though, and who knows what after that. They may even try to take over the government. I wouldn’t put it past your father.”
Itachi frowned. “We don’t have enough information on the family yet. I don’t know how many are here or what they look like.”
I clenched my fists and ground my teeth together. “I don’t care. I’ll kill all of them if I have to.”
Itachi placed a hand on my shoulder and I calmed a little. “Look, little brother. We can’t have you going back to father’s. I know why you want to. I understand. Still, we need to establish some ground rules. 1) You are always with someone in addition to having your body guard. 2) Never go to the family mansion, ever. 3) Don’t take any trips until you go to LA. 4) Just watch your surroundings and try to act like nothing’s wrong. 5) No phone calls from the home line. The cell can be bugged too, but the home line will most likely be bugged first.”
I nodded. I didn’t want to think about not being able to go and demand the right to kill people for threatening Naruto. I didn’t want to think about not being around Naruto for five weeks. I didn’t want to think at all. “Fine,” I sighed, “I agree and I’m going back to sleep. I feel depressed right now. Don’t worry I’ll be back to work tomorrow.”
I growled again. “How can I just sit by and let this shit happen? I am an Uchiha goddamn it.” I was shaking rage by this point. Temari came up in front of me and wrapped her arms around my shoulders. She whispered the soothing words she’d long ago learned worked to calm me down.
When I relaxed she pulled away. “Here’s the thing, Itachi told you not do something. He only looks out for what’s best for you, so he must know. Just trust the man, all right?”
I nodded. “Fine. I’ll wait for them to make the next move.” I turned around and went to cleaning the cases. I needed to do something physical to keep myself from dwelling on it. I sighed and stood up, looking at the friends who were looking at me with concern. “Don’t worry. I’ll be good. I’ve got you guys to think about anyway.”
Neji nodded. “Look, Shikamaru and I have room at our place if you just need a change of scenery sometime.”
I smiled. “Thanks guys. I think I’m just going to jet though. Shop closes in 10 minutes. ‘Tachi probably wants to hear everything that happened tonight before I go to bed. I’ll see you in the morning.” I shrugged and glanced at Baki. “Ready?”
He nodded and we headed off to tell Itachi what happened. When got inside the house I could tell that Itachi was waiting for us. He sighed, “When and who?”
I shook my head. “How do you always know everything like that?”
He laughed a little, “I can see it in your face. Since you met this new boytoy of yours, you’ve becoming increasingly easier to read.”
I sighed. “Fine, you can get the details from Baki tonight. I was attacked at the studio. I’d been taking appointments without bringing Baki into the room. One of my appointments belonged to the Akatsuki’s. He threatened me; that’s it. Everyone kept me from breaking rule number 2. I’m going to sleep.” I left the room, knowing full well that Baki and Itachi would figure everything out without me.
I flipped my cell open after I was nestled in for the night. I sent a text to Naruto, not knowing if he was still at his photo shoot. Miss you. Call if you’re not busy.
I shut the phone and closed my eyes. I got text back not much after that. Busy. Miss you, too. See you soon.
I growled and closed my eyes. I just wanted to sleep and have pleasant dreams for once the last three weeks.
