How to Make the Most Difficult Decisions | By : Shaylilin Category: Naruto > Yaoi - Male/Male Views: 1082 -:- Recommendations : 0 -:- Currently Reading : 0 |
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
A/N: So, this is it…the last chapter. I actually finished something I started… I must be sick.
Anyway, for those of you that reviewed, make sure you get through this chapter. It’s sad, but happy. When I need another break from my original characters and my muses are completely worn out… I’ll see about getting out another story. Either that or when I do another medical study. Really, writing is the only thing that keeps me sane among a room filled with girls…girly girls. The kind of girls that put on make-up three times a day, even though they are only sitting in a room with other girls… *sigh* but I do write there, so it’s good.
Thanks to everyone who read this. It makes me happy when people enjoy what I’m writing. At least then I don’t feel like it’s a waste of time. :)
Thanks again!

Tobi paced his room. This was the last day that Neji could come back without fear of being harmed. Though he knew today would end like all the others this week, he was still hoping against hope that Neji would return. He hoped Neji would return, because he hated waking up in an empty bed. He had gotten used to the man he loved wrapping his body in strong hands, holding him close to that chest.
Still, Tobi knew that the day was going to end without his seeing Neji. He threw a vase across the room, shattering it instantly. No one had bothered him for a week. No matter how much noise he made or what broke, they kept their distance. It was good for them. He was not in the mood for stupidity.
“Madara,” Itachi called through the door, “Let me in.” Tobi sighed. Of course Itachi would not be afraid of him. Itachi wasn’t afraid of death. He supposed he should consider himself lucky that Itachi gave him so many days before coming to speak with him. Itachi knocked on the door. “Let me in, all ready.”
Tobi walked over to the door and opened it. “It better be good, Itachi. I’m not in the mood for a lecture of emotions being a waste of time.” He sat down on the bed and glared at the window. Maybe if he glared at it hard enough, it would just disappear and he could forget that the outside world existed.
Itachi sighed and sat beside his own flesh and blood. “Look, I know you cared about the Hyuuga boy, but you can’t just wallow in here. If he means that much to you, why did you let him go?”
Tobi turned his glare on Itachi, knowing full well it would have no effect, but still wanting to get his point across. “I had to let him go. You fucking know this. Why did you let Sasuke live? Same fucking point.”
Itachi smiled a rare smile, “I guess. I wasn’t fucking Sasuke though.” He stood and a small, sad smile crossed his face for a second before his features were emotionless again. “I’ll leave you alone, but remember that the day after tomorrow we are starting the attack on Konoha and taking the brat.”
Tobi nodded. As Itachi closed the door, Tobi groaned and threw his pillow over his face. Fucking great. The plan to attack Konoha had to happen. It was necessary to make sure the Akatsuki knew they weren’t going soft or anything like that, but still Tobi had no desire to bring this attack about. He knew if they attacked Naruto, Neji would be there to protect him. This would most certainly result in Neji’s death and he didn’t know if he could handle that.
Tobi threw his mask on and walked quickly to Pein’s room. “I want Hidan. He’s fucking immortal so I can kill him as many fucking times as I want.”
Pein smirked. “Working out pent up sexual frustration? I could help with that, you know.”
Tobi growled. “It’s not about sex. I can fuck just about anyone I want. I just want to kill something right now. Since no one else can survive my attacks, I want to kill Hidan. I’ll even pretend to be the fucking retard if you get me Hidan so I can chop his fucking head off.”
Pein laughed. “Just go wait in your room. I’ll see what I can do.” Tobi slammed the door shut behind him as he headed to his room to wait. At least he’d have a little fun today with one of his members. Maybe a fuck was a good idea. He’d have to see how horny he got while he was killing the bastard.

Neji sighed. Today was the deadline. He didn’t know what was going through Tobi’s head, but he was sure the man was hurting. He also knew this was the last guaranteed safe day that Naruto had. It broke his heart that Naruto was going to be a target once more. Naruto stirred on Neji’s lap. They’d been watching a movie when Naruto fell asleep. Neji ran his fingers through the soft blond hair, twirling small patches of it between his fingers.
Something outside caught Neji’s attention. There was movement in the bushes. Most likely it was the ANBU watching the house, but he wanted to make certain. He slowly shifted up and gently placed Naruto’s head on the couch. He kissed the sleeping man’s forehead before making his way to the door. He sighed when he caught a flash of pink. He opened the door, “Sakura, there are ANBU watching the house. You can’t sneak in.”
Sakura stood up. “I wasn’t trying to sneak in. I was just trying to find out if Naruto was here with you. I haven’t seen him in a week.” She glared at Neji. She’d heard the rumor about him and the Akatsuki. She didn’t think she could trust him with Naruto anymore. “So, when are you leaving? Your deadline is today, right? Won’t your Akatsuki boyfriend be angry if you don’t return to him?”
Neji’s glare turned venomous as he thought about ways to kill Sakura without anyone knowing it was him. “Fuck you, bitch. You don’t know anything about it.” He turned to walk away, but Sakura grabbed his arm.
“No, Neji. Tell me about it. Was he a good fuck? Did you think about Naruto at all while you were seducing a man who wants to murder him? I want to know. I mean, there isn’t a person in this village who doesn’t think of you as a traitor.” Sakura’s eyes were haughty. She knew she had him against a wall and he wasn’t getting away.
Neji’s face fell for just a moment. He wanted to tell everyone to go to hell and just run back to Tobi. Sure he was an evil bastard out to kill his first and only boyfriend, but he hadn’t judged Neji. He wondered what it would be like to be with Akatsuki and just be accepted, but then his heart ached over leaving Naruto.
“Yes there is, Sakura.” Both Sakura and Neji gasped and turned at the sound of Naruto’s hate filled voice. Naruto had his fists clenched as he tried to keep his temper under control. “I don’t think of Neji as a traitor and I don’t need you fighting battles for me.”
Sakura stuttered and took a step back. “Naruto, you don’t deserve to be labeled as a traitor because you are with Neji. That’s what will happen when Tsunade finds that Neji is a traitor. How do you know he hasn’t set up an elaborate plan that will end with your being handed over to Akatsuki?”
Naruto walked over and took Neji’s hand, as much for the calming effect as to show his loyalty. “I don’t, other than my trust in the words Neji has told me. I believe him when he says that he loves me. I believe him when he says he was a prisoner, and regardless of what he felt for anyone of the members there, I believe him when he says he came home because he wanted to. If you don’t want to get flayed by ANBU then leave.” Naruto slammed the door shut and drug Neji back to the couch.
Sakura stood staring through the glass of the door. Couldn’t that idiot see she was only trying to do what was best for him? She had been there for him after he had broken up with Neji. She understood everything that was his pain; why couldn’t he understand where she was coming from? She sighed and left before the ANBU really did show up. She knew they were watching his house.
Neji turned to Naruto. “Are you all right, Naru? I know that can’t have been easy for you.”
Naruto turned angry eyes toward Neji. He immediately began to calm down as he looked into Neji’s fear filled eyes. He nodded. “I’m fine. I just know Tsunade will clear your name.” He held up a finger to Neji’s lips before he could interrupt. “As for anything to do with the Uchiha you were with, I don’t care. You’re here with me now and I know you are not leaving me.”
Neji smiled a real, big smile. “You really are too good to me, you know.” He pulled Naruto down into his lap again. His heart calm again for the moment. “Want to finish that movie now?” Naruto nodded and wrapped his arms around Neji’s legs, snuggling closer to his love.

Tsunade called Kakashi into her office. “What information have you been able to gather regarding the story Hyuuga Neji told us?”
Kakashi sighed. “From the villagers around the area where we found Neji we have learned that he was with a man always. They said that he seemed comfortable with this man and that he was not being forced to do anything. This would be consistent with Neji’s story he was intimate with the man. They said this man always wore a mask, so they could not see his face, which makes it difficult for me to determine if he is truly a man in Obito’s body.”
Tsunade nodded. “It also makes it difficult to rule out the idea that Neji is a willing participant isn’t it?”
Kakashi nodded. “If what Neji told us is true, he would only have until today to return to Akatsuki. However, his staying here is not enough reason to believe his story. He could have lied about the time frame. He could have lied about any number of things.”
Tsunade sighed. “I had been hoping to clear this matter up without resorting to interrogation techniques. However, Neji said he was willing to submit to them. Perhaps it’s time to use them?”
Kakashi nodded. “I can’t see any way otherwise. This story is just too hard to pin down the truth. I don’t want to believe Neji would do something to hurt Naruto, but at the same time all my concern is for Naruto.”
Tsunade nodded. “Uchiha Itachi is proof enough that being from a prominent family is not enough to prove loyalty.” She sighed again. “Naruto cannot be with Neji for his questioning. Will you and Iruka keep him busy?”
Kakashi smirked. “When did you find out about Iruka and me?” He smiled at her when she blushed. She murmured something under her breath. “What was that, Tsunade-sama? I missed it.”
Tsunade blushed deeper and repeated a little louder and slower. “I saw you at school over his lunch break a few weeks ago. You were very relaxed together, and then you kissed him.”
Kakashi shrugged. “I guess we weren’t really doing a good job of keeping it secret anyway.” He waved at her as he headed out the door. “We’ll go collect Naruto and let ANBU know to bring Neji here after we’re gone.”
Tsunade put her fingers to her temples. She knew this was not going to end well, even if she did find Neji to be telling the truth. Naruto would be furious that he was taken in for interrogation, regardless of the reason or how hard she tried to find the truth without resorting to manipulation techniques.
It was only 20 minutes before Neji arrived with an ANBU escort. “Neji, I presume you know why you are here?” She asked him before sitting him in a chair across from her desk.
Neji shrugged a little. “You’ve either made a decision as to my innocence or find the need to interrogate me further.”
Tsunade nodded. “We are having a difficult proving your story as legitimate. It is difficult when you were a captive who was not really a captive, if you understand.”
Neji dropped his head. “I do. It’s hard to prove I wasn’t there of my own free will when I had a good relationship with my captor. Whatever is necessary, I will endure it. I only want to prove to Naruto that I never willingly betrayed him. The village is unimportant compared to that.”
Tsunade smiled. “Let’s begin then. The ANBU are going to use some hypnosis techniques on you. I will have you back here when they are finished.” She motioned the ANBU in the room to take Neji away.
Two hours passed before there was a knock at the door. “Tsunade-sama, we have Neji and the results of our interrogation.”
“Enter,” she said. Her heart felt like it was going to explode. That wasn’t very long. Either they had discovered that Neji was lying, or there had been nothing he hadn’t all ready told them.
The ANBU lead Neji to her desk. “We’ve been able to determine that the details provided by Hyuuga Neji regarding the status of his detention by Akatsuki to be true. He was never physically harmed, but he was informed that he was a captive and death was the punishment for an attempt to escape. However, there is still some confusion in his heart over who he wishes to stay with.”
Tsunade let out a sigh of irritation. “I can’t take off the chakra blockers then, but I’ll end your confinement period.” She looked at Neji with a little bit of pity in her eyes. “You need to decide which of them you love, Neji. You need to decide before I can take off the blockers.”
Neji nodded and sighed. His ANBU guard was also taken away from him. “Naruto is at Ichiraku with Kakashi and Iruka. You can go to him. You are free to move around the town, but you are not free to leave. There will always be someone tracking your movement, though they won’t be watching your every move.”
Neji walked to Ichiraku with a heavy heart. The ANBU had seen through the confusion in his heart, and he supposed they would. He had never considered the fact that he loved Tobi, but the fact that he was still thinking about him probably proved otherwise. He wanted Naruto; he just was beginning to realize that he may want someone else more.
Neji sat down next to Naruto. “Neji! What are you doing out of confinement? Tsunade will freak out.”
Neji shook his head. He saw Kakashi looking at him strangely. “Failed the test, Neji?” He was a little shocked to see Neji still in confinement.
Neji nodded. “Not my intent to village, though. That’s why I won’t be in trouble, Naru. Tsunade said I could come here and go anywhere I like in the village.”
Naruto was exasperated, “Then why are you still wearing chakra blockers?” He looked from Kakashi to Iruka and back to Neji but couldn’t seem to put the pieces together. “They don’t know if you love me or are going back to Tobi.” He was slow on the uptake, but the looks on the other men’s faces were black and white.
Neji nodded again, looking at the ground. “I’m sorry, Naru. My heart is still confused I guess. When I first saw you again, you were all that was on my mind. As the week has moved on and people like Sakura have been harassing me, I keep thinking about him. I’m sorry. I told you I didn’t deserve you and your forgiveness.”
Naruto growled, obviously missing part of the point. “I’ll teach her to keep her nose out of my business! If people weren’t giving you a hard time before it was necessary…” He couldn’t continue. He was too angry. He looked at the pained expression on Neji’s face. “Neji,” he gently took Neji’s chin in hand, forcing him to look at Naruto. “Neji, I love you. I’ll stand by you no matter how much time you need.”
Iruka sighed and whispered to Kakashi, “Poor Naruto. Poor Neji. They both have problems that need to be addressed. I don’t think there is anything we can do to help.”
Kakashi nodded, but refused to take his eyes from the pair before him. Naruto had taken Neji’s hand and pulled him close, planting soft kisses over Neji’s face. Naruto was going to be the one to be hurt from all this. The rest didn’t matter.

Itachi smirked as he saw Neji with Naruto. Madara hadn’t correctly predicted all of Neji’s actions. The week he had given the boy was out of courtesy of whatever it was their relationship had been, but if Neji weren’t so stubborn he may have come back. Itachi moved back into his cover and to the small group that was with him. Madara had insisted on coming along, though he hid his chakra perfectly to make sure Neji wouldn’t know he was there. Pein came along, only because he was the one who wanted to take the Kyuubi. Hidan was there to serve as a punching bag to Madara, as Itachi could see no other reason for involving the man and ‘Tobi’ had killed him six times on the way to Konoha.
Madara looked up from behind his Tobi mask. “Itachi’s back! Leader-sama, Itachi’s back. Tobi’s a good boy!”
Pein shook his head but turned his attention toward Itachi. “What’s the news you have for us, Itachi?”
Itachi smirked. “It seems our old captive has decided to stay with Naruto, though the village still doesn’t trust him as his chakra is still blocked. They are currently at a ramen stand with two of their old senseis: Umino Iruka and Hatake Kakashi. Tomorrow morning he may be at either his uncle’s estate or Naruto’s apartment. Naruto’s apartment would be much better for us, though.”
Pein nodded. “Is Hyuuga restrained in any way or has the village given back his status?” He knew Madara was dying to know how his lover was being treated. He would want to know if there was any way to coerce cooperation.
Itachi shook his head. “Naruto had mentioned something about them knowing he was telling the truth. All I can assume is that they had suspected him and now they feel whatever information he gave them was mostly the truth. They still suspect him of being in love with Tobi, though.”
Tobi spoke up. “Tobi told Neji the truth about everything, always. Neji probably told the village everything that Tobi said. If Neji still loves Tobi, though, it was good.”
Hidan threw a rock at Tobi, who just barely avoided it. “You stupid fuck! What did you tell him everything for? You’re a dumb fuck if you spilled out Akatsuki secrets just because you were in love.” The mocking tone wasn’t missed on anyone.
Tobi bounced back to his original place. “Tobi is a good boy. Tobi loved Neji so Tobi had to tell Neji everything. Otherwise, Neji wouldn’t have done all those naughty boy things to Tobi. Tobi liked it when Neji would use his lips on Tobi’s pee-pee.”
Hidan jumped up and ran towards Tobi, “Shut up you fucking freak. I don’t want to hear about what you did with that fucking kid. I’m going to fucking kill you!”
Itachi and Pein exchanged a knowing look. Madara was trying to rile up Hidan to have another excuse to kill him. Tobi ran around in circles while Hidan followed. He started chanting, “Neji-kun had a really big pee-pee. Tobi liked when Neji used his pee-pee in Tobi’s butt. Neji made Tobi happy. Tobi will hurt anyone that says anything bad about Neji.”
Hidan growled. “Shut up you goddamn fucking retard!” He stopped running and turned to Pein and Itachi. “Will one of you fucking help me stop this goddamn idiot? I don’t want to listen to him give details about his fucking love life.”
Itachi smirked and shrugged. “Why not? Jealous someone like Tobi had a boyfriend and you couldn’t even find an easy fuck?”
Hidan snapped and threw another rock at Itachi. “Shut up, Itachi. You’re nothing but a clan killing fucktard! I just want that fucking freak to shut his trap.”
Tobi snuck up behind Hidan while he was yelling at Itachi and stabbed a dagger through his neck. Tobi bounced up and down as Hidan pulled the dagger from his neck. “Hehe, Tobi wins again, Hidan. Tobi wins!”
Hidan sat down and muttered under his breath for a few minutes before he addressed Pein, ignoring Tobi. “So, what is the plan for tomorrow? We just try to sneak the fox out or we make it obvious what we’re doing and take out some villagers, too?”
Pein shrugged. “What do you think, Itachi?” Itachi shrugged. Pein sighed. “I suppose we just try to sneak out the fox so we can at least accomplish that much. If we make too much of a ruckus, they’re sure to keep us from obtaining Naruto.”
Tobi bounced. “Tobi likes the plan, Leader-sama. Tobi likes the plan. Tobi will be a lookout to make sure no ninjas from Konoha get in the way.”
Pein shook his head. “It’s time we all got some sleep. Itachi, take first watch.” Pein laid down and shut his eyes. He knew Madara was confused at the news Neji hadn’t immediately been found innocent, but at least the jackass was making an effort to be himself. The real test would come tomorrow. If he could take Naruto, killing Neji if necessary, he would be redeemed from this love thing.

Naruto sighed contentedly as he stretched. He’d been spending all his nights at Neji’s since Neji couldn’t leave, but he’d gotten to spend the night at his apartment with Neji last night. Neji had insisted they clean before they did anything else though. He smiled as he remembered the conversation.
“Naruto, did you clean at all while I was gone?” Neji eyed the bugs and trash with a look of disgust. Even if he hadn’t been brought up in a high-class household, he would not have been able to live in this kind of filth. “I can’t stay here unless this place is clean.”
“Nejiii,” Naruto whined. “Do you know how long it will take to clean this place? I mean, after I got your message, I barely lifted a finger to clean.”
Neji shook his head, but smiled softly. “Still, do you really think it’s healthy for us to sleep in this?” He cocked his head and winked, “Or to do other things in here…”
Naruto laughed. “Neji, you’re so bad.” He sighed and looked at his apartment. “I guess it really does need to be cleaned, huh?”
Neji nodded. “I’ll help you, though. I’d much rather wake up here and not feel like I’m a prisoner in my own home like I have this past week.” He’d immediately moved to get a garbage can. He picked up a half eaten apple that was covered with mold and other things, “What is this? Ugh, this is disgusting.” Neji dropped the food in the trash can. “Screw it. I’ll get someone to clean this.”
Neji had called his uncle and asked for one of their maids to come over. He promised to pay for her extra work, since this was so horrible. When she’d arrived, she’d kept her professional manners, but you could see she was horrified. Neji had paid her a large sum of money before she left. The apartment had been perfect. “Never let it get that bad again, baby. I don’t care what the reason is. I want to be able to come home and see a nice place to live, not someone’s barn.”
Naruto laughed. “Okay, okay. I get it.” He moved over wrapped his arms around Neji’s waist. “Now, what were you saying about other things we could do in a clean apartment…”
He went into the kitchen and started a pot of coffee. His mind kept wandering back to the night before. Neji let him top. It was the first time in their relationship, and though he had enjoyed it, he knew he wanted to go back to being bottom. Neji was the more dominant one, despite Naruto’s more fiery personality.
Naruto walked back into the bedroom to find Neji just waking up. He slid the coffee
mugs on the nightstand and crawled back into bed. He kissed Neji softly, “Good morning, Neji.”
Neji smiled. “Morning, Naru.” He looked toward the coffee, “Is one of those mine?” Naruto nodded. “Good, I could use one.”
Naruto laughed as he handed Neji a mug. They sat together in silence, enjoying the coffee. Neji smiled at Naruto. “Did you enjoy yourself last night?”
A smirk and blush crawled across Naruto’s cheeks. “Yes, but I think I like it better when you take me. I just love what that cock of yours does to me.”
Neji laughed softly. “Well, if it’s any consolation, your cock is amazing. I’ve never come like that in my life. I thought I was going to explode. The way you were moving in me felt like magic.”
Naruto blushed deeper. “Shut up and drink your coffee.” He snuggled under Neji’s waiting arm before taking another sip of his coffee.
Neji suddenly went rigid, his heart beating faster not only out of concert for his lover, but also at the cause of the concern. “Naruto, get out.” Neji started scanning the windows. He grabbed his weapons pouch and a pair of pants. He put the pants on quickly before grabbing Naruto’s arm. “You need to leave.”
Itachi appeared at the window. “Too late for that, I’m afraid. It’s been a while, Neji-kun.”
Neji growled. He put Naruto behind him, away from Itachi. “I know he’s here, Itachi. I can feel all of you. Leave him alone, please.” Neji didn’t like begging, but he didn’t know what else to do. The two of them were no match for four Akatsuki.
Tobi crawled through the window. His voice nearly cracked on him, but he kept it strong. “We can’t do that, Neji. I told you if you didn’t come back to me, I’d have to kill you if you got in my way. I told you it’s Kyuubi and not Naruto that I want, but I can’t take one without the other.”
Neji sighed. He dropped his head for a moment, collecting himself. He looked Tobi in his eyes, realizing that Tobi had his mask off and his heart threatened to betray him. “I know. I can’t let you have him though. He’s my boyfriend again.” Neji’s voice failed him there.
Pain flashed across Tobi’s face before he could stop it. Those were words he had wanted directed at him, not Naruto. “I would have killed to hear you say those words to me about me.” He sighed and put his mask on. “I’m leaving this to you, Itachi. Don’t disappoint me.”
Neji saw the pain on Tobi’s face and couldn’t stop the one tear that escaped. Itachi nodded. “Well, shall we?” He threw a few shuriken to try and separate Naruto and Neji, but Neji held firm to Naruto’s wrist as he dogged the weapons.
Naruto wanted to fight, but Neji just wanted to get to the outside. He knew if he could attract more ninja, they stood a chance. Neji made it to the door and opened it. He stepped outside with Naruto, just barely blocking the blow delivered by Hidan. He ran down the street toward the Hokage’s tower. He pulled Naruto closer, “We need to get help!”
Naruto nodded. He made some shadow clones, transforming half them into Neji. They all ran in separate directions. It was difficult to tell which set was real, except for Madara, who followed the real pair.
He cut them off before they could reach the tower. “Neji,” Tobi whispered, “I loved you. I wish you could have loved me back. I will grant you the privilege of dying with your lover though.”
Neji shook his head. “I won’t let you kill him. More than that, I can’t do much to block anything you throw at me since I haven’t been given freedom because I still l-care for you.”
Tobi shook trying to control his emotion. It was a mixture of sorrow and rage and hope consuming him. “I’m sorry. I love you.” Tobi began activating his Sharingan.
Just when Neji thought they were done for, Kakashi popped up out of nowhere. “Yo,” he greeted calmly. “I heard you needed a hand.” He looked up and saw the mask. “This is the man in Obito’s body?”
Neji nodded. “Yeah, he’s Uchiha Madara. Are others after the other three Akatsuki that are here?”
Kakashi nodded. “Our job is protecting Naruto, with our lives if necessary.” Kakashi threw a kunai at Tobi. “Get him to Tsunade. I’ll keep this bastard busy.”
Neji nodded. “Good luck, Kakashi-sensei.” He grabbed Naruto’s hand and ran as fast he could toward the Hokage’s tower. They just arrived when Neji felt Tobi’s presence. He spun around and shoved Naruto through the door, blocking the shuriken from piercing Naruto. Instead they pierced him. He fell to his knees, coughing up blood. “Go, Naruto. Get Tsunade.”
Naruto ran up the stairs with tears in his eyes. He knew if he didn’t get Tsunade, Neji was as good as dead. Naruto flung the door open, startling Tsunade. “Neji’s being attacked by that guy with the mask. You need to help him. He’s been hurt all ready. He can’t die. I can’t lose him.”
Tsunade ran down the stairs and stopped short. The man, Tobi or Madara, had Neji’s head cradled in his lap. “You stupid son of a bitch! Why did you make me hurt you?” She heard him crying.
She stopped when she saw Neji’s hand come up and caress Tobi’s cheek. “I wanted to see you again. Please, leave Naruto alone. Take me home. Take me where no one judges me because I’m not main branch or because I fell in love with a monster.”
Tobi pulled his mask up and smiled, “You fell in love?” Neji nodded and looked toward Tsunade in the door. “Tobi, we need to get out of here if anyone is going to get out alive.” Naruto was behind Tsunade, and dropped to the ground in tears. His heart was breaking again.
Tobi nodded, pulling his back down before he picked Neji up bridal style. Pein, Hidan, and Itachi appeared before the pair. Tobi laughed. “We’re leaving. We’ll get the Kyuubi another day. I just want to make sure they don’t stop us from leaving with Neji.”
Neji pulled his head away from Tobi’s chest, where he had buried it. He looked directly into Naruto’s pained blue eyes. “I’m sorry, Naru. I loved you so much. I did. I just don’t know when my love for you turned into the love for a friend. The only thing I can swear to you is that I’ll never be a member of their organization.” Tobi and the rest of the group poofed out of the area and ran back to the Akatsuki base as fast as they could.
Kakashi saw Naruto in tears as he arrived and sighed. Neji had broken his heart again. Tsunade came over. “They’re gone. The ANBU can’t even find a trace of them. Neji’s now a traitor. He saved Naruto, but he left of his own free will.”
Kakashi sighed again. “I knew he would hurt Naruto again. Uchiha appeal, especially that of Obito’s body, is hard to fight. At least he still cared enough to keep Naruto safe.”
Naruto walked up to Kakashi who had just greeted Iruka as he arrived. “I want to get drunk tonight. Just let Neji go. We’ll encounter each other again. I hate that it will be as enemies, but until then I just want to drown my sorrow. Maybe someday Gaara will give me a chance again, when my heart has healed. For now though, for now…just let me have my pain.”
Iruka nodded and squeezed Kakashi’s hand. The three of them nodded to Tsunade and headed toward the nearest bar, buying lots and lots of sake for Naruto. When he could barely see, Naruto stumbled home with the help of Iruka and Kakashi, crying himself to sleep.

Tobi smiled as he and Neji walked into his room. He pulled his mask off and gently placed his lips to Neji’s. “I love you, Neji.”
Neji smirked a little before he whispered, “Then take care of these injuries you gave me. They hurt like fuck the entire way back here.”
Tobi growled and went to grab the first aid kit. “Fine, but you know if you hadn’t saved that kid, I wouldn’t have hurt you.” He smiled softly as he saw some sorrow in Neji’s eyes. “I won’t go after him for a while, if it makes you feel better. Maybe we’ll figure out how to do this without killing the host. Either way, I’m taking the Kyuubi. He’s my servant. I just – out of love for you, I’ll wait.” He began cleaning Neji’s wounds.
Neji took hold of Tobi’s hands and smiled a soft, warm smile. “Tobi. No,” he stopped and corrected himself, “Madara, it means the world to me that you would wait in this plan for me. My heart is still conflicted, but it’s made its final choice.”
Madara smiled hearing his name, his real name, come from Neji’s mouth. “Shut up and lay back so I can fix these wounds.” There was no malice or spite in the voice. There was no longer anger and hurt. The only thing in that voice was deep love and appreciation.
Neji sat up after his wounds had been dressed. “You know, these pajamas are the only things I have left. Do you still happen to have any clothes here that are mine?”
Tobi blushed. He pulled the mask down and called out for Deidara. “Deidara, Tobi needs the clothes he put away back. Tobi wants you to go get them for him. Leader-sama said you had to do whatever Tobi told you, so get the clothes Deidara-sempai. Tobi wants Neji to be naked, but not around Hidan or Itachi.”
Deidara cursed but left the room to get the clothes Tobi had packed away that had belonged to Neji. Tobi cut the chakra blockers off of Neji and pulled him close. Neji smiled and pushed Tobi’s mask off. He gave the lips in front of him a searing kiss, knowing at the instant calm to his soul that he had made the right choice. “Sorry I was a little late with my decision. This damn Hyuuga pride keeps getting in my way.”
Madara smirked as he pulled his mask back down. “Don’t worry. I know the perfect way to repay that pride.” He began to dance around the room. “Tobi can be Tobi day and night for a few days. Tobi thinks that will be punishment enough for Neji. Tobi wants Neji to do naughty things to Tobi’s pee-pee.”
Neji laughed softly. He looked around the large and comfortable room and let out a breath. He glanced at the moron dancing around him and smiled. It was good to be home.
