Chapter
7 - Living
Time went
by fast.
And though
life was rarely easy, neither of them would switch a moment of it away.
~*~*~
Sasuke’s
house arrest lasted almost a whole year. In that time he proved that he was not
going to betray Konoha again or leave the village. Naruto was on his side every
time he was called to appear in front of the politics. Those were always nerve
wrecking times for them both.
Sasuke had
decided not to lie, not even if the politics tried to hurt him with their
questions. But Naruto shut them up if they got too insulting and Tsunade was
always there to quiet them down if things got out of hand.
Nobody else
could see the pain Sasuke felt except for Naruto, who took the suffering Uchiha
back home and healed his wounds over and over again.
Naruto
continued his practise as the next Hokage and soon took the position completely
from Tsunade. He didn’t want to hold the official naming feast until Sasuke was
free from the house arrest.
After half
a year the politicians finally seemed satisfied and granted Sasuke the freedom
to come to the Hokage tower with Naruto and take shopping trips outside the
Uchiha estate. It was another half a year before they freed him completely, he was once again a free citizen of Konoha.
As soon as
the news reached Naruto’s friends ears, they threw them a big party, which
ended up being also the occasion where Naruto’s headshot in the Hokage Mountain was revealed to the village. Of
course for him it wasn’t a big surprise, he had been modelling for the artists
for weeks already and still thought the stone face looked nothing like him.
They danced
and drank and ate all night, sitting on his spiky hair on the mountaintop, all
of their friends visiting them and wishing them all good things.
~*~*~
Soon it was
confirmed; Sasuke would never be able to act as a ninja of Konohagakure.
This made Naruto so angry he exploded in one particular political conference
where he was told the final verdict. He had to be dragged out after Tsunade had
beaten some sense into him. Slowly he learnt to keep his calm and became a very
good negotiator.
It took
Sasuke a long time to find a place for himself in the society, no matter what
he wanted to do, people regarded him warily. Not because they wouldn’t have
trusted or respected him, but because they felt ashamed to have the great
Uchiha ninja doing normal work. They
all felt he should be much more and all Sasuke wanted to do was to blend into
the village.
Which
seemed like an impossible mission.
The
politicians never completely accepted the fact that their Hokage was gay and
that his lover was the great Uchiha heir.
But they
didn’t have much to say about it. When they tried to complain, they got a very
harsh reply from the ANBU, that anyone who threatened their Hokage would be
considered a traitor and would be charged with treason. Eventually they shut
their grumbling mouths.
Sakura’s
child was born during all this mess. Soon after the birth of his son they moved
to the Uchiha manor, to a room on the other side of the building and so became
neighbours to Naruto and Sasuke. The previous Team Seven was re-assembled, but
not for work, now they were each other’s family.
The kid had
black hair and he soon started to remind Itachi so strongly that nobody had any
doubts about who his father was. But rarely anyone dared to tease him about it, everyone knew he lived with the Hokage and Sasuke, who
was still respected despite the fact that he didn’t really have any real power.
Sasuke no
longer worried about continuing his family, as far as he thought, he already
had an heir. And Sakura didn’t seem to mind. She was happy of the attention and
support he got from her friends. Sometimes Sasuke seemed to be disturbed by the
boys looks, he looked so much like his father, but
slowly he made himself used to it.
One night
he told Naruto that he would have never believed he would be helping in raising
his brother’s son, the son of a man who had killed his whole clan. Life was strange, the Uchiha chuckled and received a tight hug of
comfort that said more than words ever could.
Soon after Sakura
and her son moved in, Sasuke installed new, heavy locks to all the doors
leading from Sakura’s side to theirs. He didn’t mind them staying in his home,
she was after all Naruto’s kind-of-sister, but he didn’t want to see her all the time.
~*~*~
During
Sasuke’s long home arrest, he was continuously visited by friends who he had
thought had forgotten and abandoned him, not that he would have blamed them.
First to
arrive, just weeks after their return, were his fangirls, in the head of them Ino with her long blond hair that was so much uglier than
Naruto’s bright mop of yellow hair. Sakura had tried to turn her head and
explain that no woman would ever claim the younger Uchiha as their own. But Ino was stubborn and thought Sakura just wanted him to
herself. The pink haired medical ninja of course could not proof this theory
wrong because she didn’t want to reveal who she really was in love with.
When Sasuke,
one miserable afternoon accidentally opened the door to his squealing fangirl
mob, he was asked if he had come back to find himself a wife and to bring his
clan back to life, because of course the fan girls refused to believe any
rumours of him and Naruto.
He smiled
coldly at the girls and said with his eyes flaring with red “I suck cock and
take it up the ass ladies, so no thanks.” and slammed the door to their faces.
Of course
the fan girls didn’t give up that easily and there were rumours that Sakura’s
child was really Sasuke’s. They said that Sakura wasn’t really kidnapped, she had been with Sasuke all this time.
Finally
Naruto got tired of the rumours and once, when the giggling group of fan girls
came for a nice little Sunday visit, he offered them all printed versions of
naked pictures of himself and Sasuke in bed, together. Though he had covered
Sasuke’s private parts, he didn’t want to show those to the girls.
His plan
failed slightly because soon these scary fangirls were squealing for them to
kiss or hug or do anything in front of them so they could get photos of them.
Women, Naruto thought, were creatures that he would
never understand.
Sasuke
didn’t quite understand his great plan and for a few nights Naruto had to sleep
on the floor. Soon Naruto admitted his mistake and was let back to the bed
where he was greatly missed already. He promised never to print their private
pictures again, but got the permission to continue taking the pictures, as long
as nobody else would see them.
Soon the photos
were one of the most guarded property of the ANBU office, the secret everyone wanted to see. After all, it
was too risky to keep them at home where anyone could get their hands on them,
the village was full of ninjas, all
capable of breaking and entering a simple mansion without any trouble.
Soon Jiraiya
released a new Icha Icha
book that had scenes that strangely resembled some of their nightly photos
session and finally Sasuke forbid Naruto to take any photos of them at all… in
those kind of situations. In other times they had a camera ready in all times.
They loved to take photos of each other and their walls were soon full of
framed photos.
All their
other friends came to visit too. All the people they had been in school with.
Once, when Sasuke’s house arrest was still on, they arranged a party, inviting
everyone in and everyone, drunk as they were, almost destroyed the great hall
of the Uchiha manor until the ANBU was called in and things calmed down.
Shikamaru
was seeing them more often than others. To his horror Sasuke realized that he
kind of liked the mans company and they were becoming real friends. Shikamaru
was so calm and quiet that they could all hang together for hours watching
movies and playing cards without saying a word, Naruto kept up the conversation
and they just enjoyed the company.
Though Sasuke
always ended up kicking the bored man out at the end of the night when he
didn’t seem to realize it was time to go.
But a few
days later he was back again. Naruto was happy Sasuke was making friends and
settling in.
~*~*~
The friends
visiting and Naruto’s constant cheerfulness kept Sasuke happy, but it was
slowly getting at him that he could no longer act as a ninja and soon he
started to ask around for a little more complex job than just preparing broken
ninja gear or cleaning weapons. Immediately he was asked if he wanted to start
teaching the ninja students. And immediately he refused. He could not work with
kids.
A few
months later he was asked to teach a few ANBU’s to
learn better to control their secret ninja arts and he agreed to help. At first
he thought that he couldn’t really do much, only give some advices, but soon it
proved to him that he had learned more about control than ordinary ninja’s knew
and could really teach these people new things.
In a few
years he got a reputation as a skilful and respected sensei who everyone turned
to if they had trouble with their individual ninja arts. He was considered
higher rank than the well respected Jounins, but in
all actuality he was still a Genin and would never be
able to rise higher in rank.
But he was
satisfied, respect was all he needed and once again he felt like he was part of
the village. Naruto was happy for him. They often got to work together as
Sasuke was called as an expert to meetings and conferences.
~*~*~
Their life
at home was as blissful as ever.
They still
fought verbal fights and Sasuke still had nightmares and those fits of doubt
when Naruto had to shake him back into reality. Slowly they got to know each
other better and the more they did so, the more they felt they were falling in
love with each other, again and again.
The things
nobody else knew about them opened completely new sides of their personalities and
they were both thrilled to discover those hidden secrets that made them such intriguing
and complex persons. There was no such pleasure as exploring each other’s
secrets and getting to know new things, physical and emotional, hurtful and
funny, sad and happy.
Sasuke was
finding out more about Naruto, and started to realize that as much as Naruto spoke,
he rarely spoke of himself, nobody really knew anything about the blond. He was
a lot smarter than he had seemed to be when he was younger.
He was also
incredibly fierce and loyal and gentle.
Sometimes
they spent whole nights sitting close to each other under a thick warm blanket
in dark rooms only lit my candlelight or in a hot bath in their private
beautiful garden and whispered secrets into each other ears, debating each
others theories about life.
Of course
not everything was just bliss.
They still
fought. And those were bloody fights. Once Sasuke broke Naruto’s nose, but
Kyuubi fixed it quickly. It hurt Sasuke more than Naruto,
the Uchiha was mortified of his actions for weeks after it and was afraid to
touch Naruto, so he wouldn’t hurt him again. It took one rough afternoon of
making love for him to admit that he couldn’t stay away from the blond, no
matter how hard he had tried.
Most of
their fights were made up from words. They called each other names, screaming
and yelling so loudly the whole village must have heard them. Sasuke liked to
break down stuff and throw things at Naruto. Naruto liked to mope a lot. Most
of their fights ended in fierce kissing and more than often to a laughter or
crying that took hours to stop. The more they got to know each other, the less
they could hate each other.
Once they
tried a play that was suppose to be a fun little game of bondage. But
everything turned horrible wrong as Sasuke’s past gripped him into a nightmare
he had trouble waking up from. The tied up hands and feet were too much for
him.
With panicky
eyes and almost yelling he asked Naruto to release him. As he massaged his
limbs back to life he mumbled out horrible memories from his past, shaking his
head and ripping at his grown long black hair.
He had
found out that the best way to get over the nightmares quickly was to share
them with Naruto, though he knew his memories always hurt Naruto and made the
blond cry.
During the
peaceful years he found out that there were memories he had surpassed and
forgotten from himself and now, with all the newfound happiness in his life
they were crawling back into his memory and when he least expected it, stormed
to surface making him feel unbearable horror and, from his own point of view,
act like a lunatic.
After that
night Naruto threw all the bondage gears they had to garbage and slowly Sasuke
recovered again. He no longer panicked if Naruto grabbed his arms tight or
pinned him down. He trusted the man with everything he had and was and Naruto
loved to hold him close and tight and tried to do so as often as he could. More
than once Naruto grabbed Sasuke into a tight embrace in the middle of an
important meeting with diplomats from the neighbour country. The one who was
always the most shocked seemed to be Sasuke, but as soon as the embarrassing
situation was over, Naruto could often see a small smile on the mans lips when
nobody else was looking.
Though it
was not the same thing with everyone else and Sasuke. Anyone else who even
dared to touch him received a lethal, red eyed glare as a reward and knew not
to do that mistake again.
~*~*~
Sakura’s
son was growing up fast and before they knew it, he was big enough to walk
around the house. He banged their locked doors until someone opened them and
soon they had to remove the locks from the doors. The boy learned not to come
into their side before he got a permission to do so but he was also loud enough
to disturb Sasuke’s nerves from the other side just as well.
Sasuke and
Naruto both suspected something was going on with Sakura. She never dated,
never wanted to get serious with anyone, and it wasn’t that there wouldn’t have
been those who wouldn’t have wanted her. She was beautiful and cheerful and
strong, but still, she kept to her own most of the time, sometimes going on
long walks outside the town to relax
with her son.
Deep down
Naruto and Sasuke both knew what was
going on. Itachi was back. But nothing bad had happened. Nobody was threatened.
One night
Naruto finally brought it up and Sakura was pale with horror. She was sure they
wanted to finally finish him off and begged them to spare his life, crying
hysterically. He was blind, he wasn’t a ninja anymore, he lived quietly in a
small hut with Sai. They grew rice, had chickens and a cow and never made any
trouble.
Sasuke told
her to keep quiet about it and Naruto laughed at the image of Itachi and Sai as
farmers. Sasuke would do nothing as long as Itachi didn’t raise any trouble.
But he knew that the politicians of Konoha would not be this forgiving if they
heard about it, so he asked Sakura to never talk about him to anyone, not even
them.
Soon it was
too late. Sakura’s son had learned how to talk and his first words were
“Itachi, dada.”
One night
Sakura came home pale and sick with worry, telling that the hut where Itachi
and Sai had lived had been abandoned and she had no idea where they were. It
wasn’t long until she started receiving anonymous letters from around the
country. Naruto and Sasuke never asked her where they were from and what they
said, but soon Sakura cheered up again and started travelling, taking medical
missions to the far sides of the country. She took her son with her and the men
had the whole house all for themselves again.
~*~*~
Naruto and
Sasuke never seemed to grow tired of being together. Naruto’s cheerful and imaginative
personality assured it that they were never bored.
They made
meals to each other, sometimes ate out, visited Kakashi and Iruka
frequently and took care of the house. They made the garden blossom again and
restored the glory of the Uchiha manor. Sasuke bought them a huge wardrobe of
new clothes, most of them decorated with the Uchiha symbols and Naruto’s
trademark, the orange spiral pattern.
The serious
Uchiha gate got a new refreshed look when they decided to paint the spiral
pattern around the Uchiha symbol. The manor was their house.
They
enjoyed meeting friends, but most of all they enjoyed the quiet afternoons and
nights when Naruto was free from his busy work schedule and they could cuddle
and make love hours and hours at a time, or just enjoy each other’s company
inside the quiet of their huge house.
~*~*~
Though
Naruto could control the Kyuubi better than anyone would have thought possible,
there were still times when his concentration broke and the demon fox surfaced.
It didn’t
happen often, the seal that he had on his stomach seemed to grow every year and
kept the demon locked in his cage. Naruto didn’t know how it was done, but he
didn’t complain, it could always be worse and the seal could be breaking.
Sasuke suspected it was Naruto’s determination and strong mind that kept the
seal changing into stronger and stronger year after year.
One day
Naruto came home early from work and avoiding Sasuke’s worried looks he trotted
to the bathroom and sat to the floor of the shower. Of course his actions made
Sasuke sick with worry and finally the blond had to confess what was happening.
He was in
heat.
Kyuubi was
a demon fox. With the senses of an animal.
When Sasuke
heard about this for the first time, he almost rolled on the bathroom floor
laughing. But soon he realized that Naruto was really suffering. They spent the
whole day having sex and long after Sasuke was too exhausted to get himself up anymore, Naruto was withering on the floor, begging
for more.
They locked
themselves into the house for three days until the heat was over. Naruto tried
to defuse his extra energy by fighting exercises and yoga. He didn’t feel
thirst or hunger and he couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t wear tight clothes without
feeling like he was suffocating and even a slight touch on his skin made him
too horny to even stand up.
Sasuke
couldn’t remember when he had been this tired in his life.
But they
managed to get over it and before it could happen again, they prepared for the
next time. Naruto assured this didn’t happen often and they were both glad
about that. When the time came about a year later, Naruto locked them inside
the house and they asked Sakura to bring them food. ANBU watched the house from
the outside, both the keep people outside and to keep Naruto inside.
For Sasuke
these times were always very tiring, but secretly he loved it. Despite of being
in heat and ruled by a crazy demon, Naruto was still Naruto, gentle and loving
and full of passion and longing for his attention.
Though
sometimes Sasuke had to kick Naruto off from him when he was too tired to even move anymore.
~*~*~
The never
ending nightmares still continued haunting Sasuke, even when he was awake.
Once, in a
meeting with the politicians of Konoha, a foreign guest had made a rude joke
about Sasuke’s past at Orochimaru’s place. Naruto had seriously asked him if he
enjoyed raping underaged children and the man left Konoha quickly, never
returning, forever shamed in the eyes of everyone.
The worst
moment was once when Sasuke came to get Naruto for dinner from the Hokage tower
and stumbled into a stranger in the hallway. The man was surrounded by
bodyguards and almost ignored Sasuke, in the last minute stopping him with a
violent yank of his arm.
It was a
face of a man Sasuke had never wanted to see again.
He had been
gang raped by this mans former group. It was one of those times when Orochimaru
had offered him as a business gift and this man had gotten a sick satisfaction
making him suffer. And now those same amused, horrible, cold eyes were staring
at him like from a nightmare. He could say nothing, just stumbled backwards
until he hit something. He felt hands around his shoulders and turned around
with horror. No, no no!
It was
Naruto who was holding him and in an instant the blond could tell something was
terribly wrong. He cancelled everything for the rest of the day and walked
Sasuke home. They spent the rest of the day and night talking. When the
darkness settled over Konoha, Naruto called the ANBU to a meeting.
The man was
arrested that same night. Sasuke visited him in his cell. He wanted to get rid
of his fear for this man. He was just a
man.
Naruto and
a few reliable friends, Shikamaru, Kakashi and
Tsunade, were listening outside as the man spilled all his crimes out without
knowing he was been listened to. He had come to Konoha after hearing that
Sasuke had returned. He had wanted to destroy him because he had killed Orochimaru, the snake man had been very useful for him.
This was
more proof than they needed to charge him with treason and throw him to jail
for the rest of his life. Sasuke was there when they told him his judgment and
took him away. He didn’t even blink as the man raged at him, screaming of
betrayal and of whoring, lying bastards.
That night
Naruto held him close, whispering loving words into his ears and he wept until
he fell asleep and slept all night trough, waking feeling rested and a bit more
healed again.
Secretly he
wished he could avenge all the others the same way, but really, it wasn’t
necessary, he was already healing. He didn’t want to waste his time in revenge, it had already ruined so much.
Now he
wanted to enjoy life.
~*~*~
Still, often
Sasuke woke screaming from horrible dreams, clawing at the sheets and sobbing
against Naruto’s chest as the blond tried to calm him down. His first reaction
was always to fight against the comfort, to push Naruto away, and never the
blond let go, only held him tighter and slowly Sasuke melted into his embrace.
Afterwards
he was eager for heated embraces and fierce lovemaking,
nothing could drive the nightmares away as efficiently as Naruto’s closeness
and tender touches.
Past was
always a subject that brought pain, for both of them. And they knew how to hurt
each other. But they also learned how to say sorry, something neither of them
had really known how to do before. They realized that they were growing as
persons, complementing each other and learning new things every day, growing
closer every year they spent together.
As time
went by, it became obvious for both of them that this was what they wanted to
do for the rest of their lives.
Danger had
always been part of their lives. Hurt and pain and suffering and loneliness had
never left them alone when they were younger. And now they felt whole and happy
and at peace for the first time in their lives.
~*~*~
Finally
Naruto asked if the law could be, well, not broken, but bend a bit. There were no laws about men marrying other men, but
there had never been a marriage between two men, even Kakashi and Iruka, who had been a couple for forever, were just living
together as lifepartners.
Naruto
wanted more. He wanted to marry Sasuke so they would really be a family in
everyone’s eyes.
So he
proposed the Uchiha in the middle of one of his training sessions after it had
been exactly eight years since they had returned. Sasuke had wanted to
celebrate, after all.
The black
haired ninja was shocked beyond words as Naruto landed on his knee and
proposed. Then he walked away from the room. Naruto ran after him only to find
him outside, too happy to express himself calmly in front of everyone. He
dragged Naruto into a small closet and they kissed and hugged and embraced each
other for hours without wanting to come out and face everyone.
When they
finally got out, all their friends were waiting outside, cheering. Word
travelled too fast.
It was the
first time the people of Konoha saw Sasuke laughing without care if anyone saw
his real emotions.
Their
wedding was one of the best parties ever held in Konoha, though only a small
group of people were invited; their closest friends and their families.
The Uchiha
estate was decorated for the event and that night the house was full of music
and laughter and dancing and happiness. Sasuke finally pushed back his pride
and danced with Naruto, holding him close and didn’t care about the eyes that
were all turned to them. This was an important event for Naruto.
Sasuke
never felt any necessity to marry, he had promised years ago to stay with
Naruto forever but it felt good to really bind themselves
together so everyone could see they were really an item and nothing would
separate them.
Really, life
in a small ninja village should have been quite calm and almost boring, but for
them it never felt like that. Every day brought new things to talk about, to
experience and to see and feel.
Sorrow
always came unannounced. They lost friends who meant a lot for them.
It wasn’t a
surprise; they lived in a hidden ninja village and even without any wars
raging, there were still those casualty losses that gripped everyone’s heart. A
few who were lost were people who meant a lot for Naruto and the goodbyes he
had to say to them for forever were always unbearably painful. If anything good
followed from those deaths, was the fact that every day he grew to cherish his
life with Sasuke more and more.
Naruto felt
as if every single loss in Konohagakure was somehow
his fault and for years he felt depressed when the dark messenger birds came
flying with their notes of sorrow. But death is part of life and slowly he
realized that he couldn’t safe everyone.
He didn’t
want to risk his own life in revenge either because he had someone waiting for
him at home, so he didn’t take unreasonable risks and he always had his
bodyguards with him if he suspected any foul play.
They found
new friends and people they admired. They got to meet a lot of travellers in
their jobs and they travelled a lot. Once they even met Sai and Sakura. Sasuke
still refused to meet Itachi, he was worried his hate,
that was long lost, would return if they met.
One of the
most powerful trips they took was to Orochimaru’s hidden base. It was many years
after their return and they travelled with a big group of trusted friends and capable
ninja’s so they had no worries about their safety.
They had
heard rumours that Kabuto had left Orochimaru’s dwellings and was forming a
group for himself. They had to check it out and make sure Konoha was not in
danger. The rumour was half true. Kabuto had left, but there was no proof of
him gathering anyone to him. The enemies of Konoha had spread and disappeared.
Inside
Orochimaru’s place only Sasuke and Naruto walked the long hallways. Sasuke
spent hours staring at the small room that had belonged to him. When he
returned to Naruto, he didn’t want to let go of him for a long time.
He didn’t
cry, but rarely had Naruto felt such pain and sadness and suffering in his
lover. That night he was gentler than ever, quietly tormenting all emotions out
of Sasuke and finally he wept helplessly in his arms. After that he rarely saw
the nightmares anymore.
After years
and years of healing and sinking back to the nightmares it finally seemed that
he had made his closure.
After
returning to Konoha the citizens of the village could see a very strange sight;
a smiling, happy Sasuke walking along the streets of the village or eating
dinner in one of their favourite restaurants, laughing aloud with Naruto.
Nobody
really thought of him as a traitor anymore and even those who had had trouble
accepting the relationship they shared with Naruto,
were agreeing that it was their choice and nobody should intervene. Naruto was
a respected and trusted leader, his weaknesses and unique personality only
managed to make him stronger in the eyes of the people.
Many of
their friends had children now and their families were growing.
Sakura was
once gone for a long time in one of her trips and when she came back, she had a
small girl with her that looked frighteningly much like another Itachi clone.
Naruto and
Sasuke of course didn’t have children of their own, but they watched after
Sakura’s kids and never felt sorry or left out. Life was busy and happy and
filled with new wonder.
~*~*~
~*~*~
The men
were sitting on the veranda, sipping tea and listening to the quiet sounds of
nature. Naruto’s head was on Sasuke’s lap and he was drawing lazy spirals on
his muscular thigh on the silky blue fabric of the man’s kimono. Sasuke was
waving his fan.
The sun was
setting but the summer day had been warm and both of them felt hot. Though they
could blame their furious plays in the bedroom for that too, Sasuke thought
back, smiling lightly and stroked Naruto’s long bangs away from his face.
His own
long ponytail was tied back. He had not had bangs for years after realizing how
much easier life was without them and after getting over the fact that he
didn’t need that spiky rooster tail hair to be gorgeous.
Naruto
still thought he was gorgeous with the long ponytail, though it had taken some
time to get used to this new look and not see Itachi in the mirror every time
he saw his reflection. But he was getting over that trauma.
He combed
all his hair back, he didn’t really look the same as
his older brother had.
He was
woken up from his thoughts as Naruto tugged at the sleeve of his kimono and
asked him to pass the tea cup closer so he didn’t have to get up. The blond was
feeling lazy. He looked up into his husbands black eyes and smiled as a thank
you as he sipped the warm tea.
He enjoyed
it greatly when Sasuke stroked his long hair like this. Everyone said he looked
like Minato with the longer hair and every time the thought made him smile.
His orange
kimono was loosely tied on his hips but still let the cooling air freshen his
heated skin. Sasuke had been fierce that afternoon, he felt himself getting
excited even from the memory of it and he smiled up, setting the cup to the
stairs and reaching for Sasuke to give him a kiss.
They were
interrupted by a bang on the garden door and Naruto dropped back to lean on
Sasuke’s thigh “Some things never change” he mumbled and Sasuke chuckled as a
reply.
Then they
saw a black eyed young man with pink-black hair peak in from the door. Isata saw the two men lounging on the veranda and slung the
door open, walking in and carrying a big package with him. A girl of
twelve-years with the same black eyes and the pink-black hair followed behind.
“Hi guys, you’re
back! How was the trip?” Naruto smiled at the kids, finally sitting up and
closing and tying his kimono better. Sasuke took the teacup from the stair just
before the young man kicked it down.
Isata had
walked hurriedly to them and let the large package drop to the ground. “Happy
birthday uncle Sasuke” he grinned down at them and offered the package. The girl
smiled at them shyly from behind her brother.
“Actually the
birthday isn’t until next week.” Naruto reminded them with a grin and the boy showed
him his tongue, flopping down next to them “I know, but uncle Sai says that you
turn forty only once so you must celebrate a lot.”
Naruto reached
for the girl and pulled her to sit on his knee. She was still so incredibly shy
and quiet.
Sasuke
chuckled and took the package, studying it. “Who is this from?”
“From Sai, mom and dad. And us, of course.”
“Do you know
what it is?” Sasuke asked sceptically and Naruto groaned, rolling his eyes.
“Another painting of Itachi I’m sure.”
The boy
laughed “Nah! He sends those for mom, not for you, pervert!”
“And still our walls would be full of naked Itachi’s if we would hang all those paintings up.” Naruto
growled and squeezed the young mans cheeks between his hands. He struggled and
giggled like a boy. The girl jumped up and came to the rescue, pulling Isata away from Naruto. All of them laughed as Naruto
scrambled to the floor on his stomach.
Sasuke
ripped the paper open and turned the painting around to see what it was, still
suspecting to see something he really didn’t want to see. Sai had a weird sense
of humour.
But his
eyes turned round as the painting was revealed.
It was a
picture of them; of Naruto and Sasuke. They were young in it, maybe twenty-five
or so and both smiling faintly at the camera. He could easily see that the
painting had been painted from a photo.
Naruto
peeked from over his shoulder and yelled out “HA! I remember that photo! Sakura
took it of us when we had just been living here for a few years. You look funny”
he poked Sasuke’s cheek and Sasuke poked his ribs.
They were
both silent for a while. Then Naruto laughed happily. “It’s a good painting.”
Sasuke nodded as a reply. He would hang it on their bedroom wall. He observed
Naruto’s smiling eyes and his own vary smile and doubtful eyes. He had been so
lost back then.
He had to
smile and ignoring the kids he reached for Naruto and ruffled his blond hair,
kissing him softly. The girl giggled and Isata yelled
out. “Cut that out, you’re gross!”
“Thank you.
That was a good present.” Sasuke said to the kids and they both beamed up at
him. “Yay, you liked it!” Isata
laughed and suddenly ran towards the door, dragging his sister after him. “Mom
is coming soon so we have to go. Oh and-“ he turned to
face the men and grinned cheekily at them “-she’s pregnant again!” he squealed,
running out of the door and banging it shut after him.
The men
turned to look at each other with wide eyes.
“Itachi is
taking over the world.” Sasuke said, bursting into
laughter as Naruto hugged him into a tight bear hug. “And isn’t Sakura a bit
old to have kids?” he asked. Naruto look horrified. “Don’t say that to her or
she will beat you up.”
“I know
better than that” Sasuke chuckled, hugging Naruto back.
Then they
heard another knock on the door and Isata peeked his
head in again “Mom is making ramen” he said, grinning and shut the door again.
Sasuke turned to look at Naruto. Of course the blond looked like a puppy, he laughed and took his hand “Yeah, yeah, let’s go
eat.”
He grabbed
the painting and put it inside on the way out.
They could
hear the loud, wild yelling of Isata from the other
side of the house and Sasuke sighed “That boy reminds me too much of another
wild little boy I used to know…” he glared at Naruto but soon the glare turned
into a soft smile. The blond grinned his foxgrin “He’s just had a proper Uzumaki upbringing.”
Sasuke
laughed as they closed the door behind them and walked out of the door, heading
around the house to the other side where the smell of ramen was already filling
the air.

There it
was. Oh sigh. I feel really empty now. ^^ This was my first longer fanfic ever and I enjoyed greatly writing it. I hope it was
as enjoyable to read <3
Of course
comments are appreciated.
And I’m
pretty sure this won’t be the last fanfic I write, I
love these boys way too much to stop now.
Of course I
have to use this opportunity to shamelessly advertise that I am also drawing
these guys, not just writing about them; http://zardra.deviantart.com/ … I need
to draw some pics from the fic
soon. I am going to do it. Yesss!
