******************* Chapter 7 *******************
Kakashi and many other jounin had never
been so pleased in their entire lives. Their loveable little school teacher was
on the market again and up for grabs.
The thrill was gone though.
Iruka didn’t blush at the carefully
planned innuendos. He didn’t yell at crude descriptions. And he didn’t shriek in
rage and strike out when he was fondled. At most he would give a barely audible
sigh and wait patiently until the jounin felt bad and stopped. Sometimes if
someone was being particularly aggressive, the small man would just lower his
eyes and say that please, he had reports to finish.
All of this would happen in such a
broken way, that everyone felt immediately guilty for touching the chuunin and
stopped.
The days bled into weeks and there was
still no change.
Iruka was as depressed as ever and not a
word had been heard from Jiraiya.
It was a month later that Anko and
Kurenai finally felt terrible enough to do something for their beloved friend.
Anything to cheer him up. Even Naruto couldn’t get a smile out of the
heartbroken man.
The kids in the Academy didn’t know why
their sensei was so sad and none of them could find it in their deviant little
hearts to take advantage of the situation.
************
“So what do you suggest we do Kurenai?”
Anko asked as she groomed the other woman’s long hair. The red eyed woman had
invited Anko to come to her apartment this Friday evening for just some talk and
get together kind of thingy. They had shared a dinner and a bottle of wine and
were now seated on Kurenai’s sofa, listening to soft music and just took it easy
even if their souls boiled to get revenge on the toad sannin.
“We could get Tsunade-sama to give us a
mission to hunt the bastard down, drag him back to the village in chakra-chains
and tie him up in one of the dungeons in the Hokage-mountain. Dress the toad in
a sexy outfit and then display him for Iruka-chan to have his way with him,”
Kurenai said as she relaxed back against Anko’s bosom.
“That would be an idea, but do you
really Iru-chan would go for it? I mean, just look at him, he’s beyond
heartbroken. If only he would talk about it but he won’t say a word of what
happened.”
“So what do we do?” Kurenai closed her
eyes. She wanted so badly make Iruka happy again. He didn’t fit the gloomy,
depressed, and down right broody profile. “I can barely stand to see him so
miserable, Anko-chan.”
“I hate it too Kurenai. I want him to be
happy. But I don’t know how we can make it happen.”
They sighed simultaneously and felt the
air just push out of their lungs. There was nothing they could do really. If
Iruka didn’t tell them what had happen then there was a slim chance of even
guessing to what went on that night.
They were brought out of their depressed
state by a violent knocking on the door. Kurenai groaned and moved away from
Anko and went to open the door.
Anko dragged her fingers through her
hair as she listened to whom ever it was that dared to interrupt their little
girl-night. And what she heard made her jump out of the sofa and run to the door
too.
“NARUTO??!!” Kurenai’s voice echoed
through the hallway.
“Kurenai-sensei, you must come, and
quickly,” the blond boy breathed. “I need you to follow me back to the top of
the Hokage-mountain.”
“Naruto-kun?” Anko said as she appeared
behind the genjutsu-master.
“Anko-sensei, good you’re here too… now
hurry!! I can’t hold this clone forever…”
“Kage bunshin?” Kurenai blinked.
“Yes, yes… now get going… please!!”
The pleading sound of the young lad’s
voice was enough to get the two women out of their stupor and confusion and they
put on their sandals and moved out of the apartment, following the blonde
Kyuubi-vessel.
**********
30 minutes earlier.
Naruto had been training all evening and
decided he would cool down sitting on top of the Yondaime’s head. It was then he
had heard a strange noise coming from one of the bushes and he had hurried over
only to find a certain Toad sannin.
Naruto went into shock when he realizes
that the perverted man was in a very bad shape. He was barely clothed and he was
bleeding from numerous wounds across his body. Naruto could see that the man had
lost some weight and that there were still open scratch wounds around his ankles
and wrists.
Jiraiya must have been held prisoner
somewhere.
“HEY ERO-SANNIN!!” Naruto yelled and
managed to drag the half dead toad master from the bushes.
“N-Naruto?” He mumbled.
“Don’t worry Ero-sannin, I’ll get
Tsunade-baachan to come here and help you,” Naruto said and formed the familiar
seals and poof – a perfect replica of himself stood next to them.
“No… not her…”
“But Ero-sannin, you’re wounded and
badly at that. You need to be healed,” Naruto cried.
“J-just not her.”
“O-ok, I promise.”
The young boy got his clone to lean over
and he whispered into the clone’s ear to get Anko or Kurenai to come here. He
knew that both were jounins and had had some form of education in healing
jutsus. And since they had been the ones to bring Iruka and Jiraiya together
Naruto figured that they would probably help out.
The clone nodded and disappeared down
the hillside in search of the one or perhaps both of the female teachers.
Meanwhile Naruto tried his best to take
care of the bleeding wounds he could find on the sannin.
“N-Naruto… how’s Iruka?” Jiraiya managed
to squeeze out between clenched teeth as the boy tried to stop the bleeding, man
it really hurt.
“Miserable,” Naruto said without
hesitation. It was the truth. His kaasan had been miserable and it didn’t matter
what Naruto tried, the man just refused to smile or be happy.
“My fault ehh?”
“Yeah, you stupid pervert. Have you no
sense of honour? You were supposed to marry Iruka-kaasan and then I would have a
tousan but no, you just had to leave us to go on one of your journey’s… and look
what that got you to!! You look like shit!”
Jiraiya tried to laugh but it hurt so
damn much that it all came out as a groan and then he had a coughing fit.
After the coughing he looked up into
Naruto’s face. So much alike they were… The Yondaime and Naruto. Actually the
only thing that separated them was Naruto’s whisker-marks. Otherwise they were
just the same.
“Y-you know Naruto-chan… I love him.”
“W-what? Who?”
“Iruka… I love him.”
“Then why the fuck did you leave?”
“B-because I thought… I thought I
couldn’t g-give up my travelling,” Jiraiya mumbled. The blood loss was making
him very dizzy now.
“But if you love him…?” The equation
really didn’t add up in Naruto’s head.
“I was stupid… I… I just hope he can
forgive me,” Jiraiya mumbled as his eyes began to close. He was so tired.
“Ahhh, Ero-sannin!!! Don’t close your
eyes!!” Naruto yelled.
“S-so tired…”
“No, don’t go to sleep… you must stay
awake… AHH!! ERO-SANNIN!!”
A poof was heard and Naruto looked up
and he felt relief wash over him.
“ANKO!! KURENAI!!” He called out.
“Shh, don’t worry Naruto-kun, we’re here
now… now let’s see what the old toad has gotten himself into.” Kurenai kneeled
next to the fallen white haired sannin.
“Shit, Kurenai, he looks like he’s in a
very bad shape.” Anko said as she sat down next to the genjutsu master.
“We must get him to the Hokage,” Kurenai
said.
“No, he don’t want her to know,” Naruto
protested. “Can’t you heal him or something?”
“Naruto-kun, he has lost a lot of
blood,” Anko said and put an arm around the crying boy.
“B-but I promised you would help him.”
Both Kurenai and Anko sighed. The boy
was too strung up on his promises. But they hated to see him break any of them
so they did their best to heal the wounds on the old man’s body, praying that it
would be enough to help him get through this.
But what could’ve happen to him? Jiraiya
wasn’t so easily defeated.
“Oh, oh!” Naruto suddenly cried, jumping
up to his feet. “Sakura can help!”
The two women smacked themselves on the
head, wondering why they didn’t think of that first.
******************************
‘All ye maidens, hear my warning,
never trust the hearts the men, they will crush you like a sparrow, leaving you
to never mend…they will vow to always love you, swear no love but yours will do,
then they’ll leave you for another, break your little heart in two….’
Iruka looked up.
‘Little sparrow, little sparrow,
precious fragile little thing, little sparrow, little sparrow, flies so high and
feels no pain…..’
No one said a word as the kunai shot
through the air and busted the small radio in the corner of the office.
Kakashi watched the pretty chuunin
wearily as he handed in his report, on time for once. Iruka said nothing, and
gave him a nod when he flipped through it to see that everything was in place.
Hours later, when his shift was over,
the school teacher walked home, ignoring the saddened gazes that followed him
out of the office and the ones that preceded him on the streets. He felt numb on
the inside and out. Every night would be the same. Iruka would go to work,
teach, and then go to the office, file, and then walk home.
He had avoided Anko and Kurenai and even
Naruto for the past week, unable to handle their attempts at cheering him up.
All he wanted to do was to lie down and not ever have to get back up. Was that
so much to ask really?
The brunette shifted in his vest for his
keys and let himself inside. He toed off his sandals and set down his satchel,
going about his usual routine of making himself dinner, but not eating it and
showering before dressing in his sleep wear and sitting on the couch to grade.
But something was off tonight.
For one, Kakashi was in his bedroom
waiting for him as he came from bathing.
Iruka blinked slowly, wrapping the towel
tighter under his chin as he gazed at the lanky nin. “Kakashi-san, was there
something you needed?”
The older shinobi winced at the polite
voice and lowered gaze. If he had ever dared to show up in the chuunin’s home
uninvited before, he would have been beaten to a perverted pulp. Now the smaller
man just seemed to accept things without fighting. He was counting on it
tonight.
Kakashi took in Iruka’s soaked state,
marvelling jealously at the droplets of water that clung to the darker man’s
skin. He honestly wanted nothing more than to be able to lick every ounce of
that delicious body, to feel it writhe under him and make it cry out.
“I’m sorry Iruka,” the copy nin said
softly as he dropped his eyes and shrugged off his vest.
The smaller man blinked, drawing his
brows together in worry. “What are you doing?”
The jounin stripped off his shirt,
leaving his mask on as he took off his forehead protector and kunai pouch.
Iruka watched the taller shinobi undress
to his pants and backed up toward the door, not liking the vulnerable feeling
whirling in the pit of his stomach. He reached behind him for the handle,
tightening his other hand firmly on the towel.
“Kakashi…what are you doing?!”
The cycloptic man took a step forward,
eyes still not meeting the chuunin’s. “I’m going to touch you. And I’m going to
make you like it.”
The air went very still as Iruka dropped
his mouth open slightly, tears brimming at his large doe eyes. “Kakashi…that’s
rape.”
“I know,” Kakashi said, suddenly pinning
the brunette against the door. “But I have to make you feel something. Hate me
after this if you want.”
The school teacher hadn’t seen the
jounin move, and now the handle was digging into his lower back harshly. Kakashi
pressed up against him, melding their bodies together until there was no space
between them. Iruka pushed as hard as he could, trying to get himself free by
thrashing about, but it was no use.
“Kakashi! Damn it!” the chuunin cried
out, bowing his head.
One arm was still trapped behind him
against the door while the other was stuck between their chests. The taller man
worked his knee between Iruka’s clenched thighs, parting them slowly and
stepping closer, pressing his groin flush against the school teacher’s.
Iruka could feel that the copy nin
wasn’t aroused even as the elite shinobi ground into him. “You don’t want to do
this…so why?”
Kakashi paused at the broken voice as
the brunette dropped his head and wept openly. “It’s because…I want you to feel.
Anything. I don’t want you to be like me.”
The chuunin looked up slowly, catching
the older man’s gaze and holding it desperately. The sharingan was whirling
quickly in short bursts and Iruka was captivated by it. That eye wasn’t like the
darker one beside it. This one seemed…The smaller man couldn’t find a word for
it, but it was intense.
“W-what…do you mean?” the school
teacher asked.
“I don’t feel things. Not like you do.
To many missions, too young when I killed, I don’t know why,” Kakashi said
simply. “But I can’t let you become like me. If you stop feeling things, then
there’s no point.”
“What?”
The jounin stared like he was confused.
“You represent everything that is good and decent in this village. People can’t
look at you and not fall in love. Everyone in this damn place cares for you. You
affect us all even when you don’t mean to. You’re the reason most of the jounin
continue doing what we do.”
Iruka made a weak sound of protest, not
understanding what was being said to him.
Kakashi cocked his head. “When you’ve
killed as many as I have, you only live for the small things. Most everyday life
doesn’t matter. I for one have come through many missions because to come back
alive would mean I get to see you blush when I hit on you.”
The school teacher furrowed his brow.
“That….that isn’t a reason to live! Kakashi, you have your students! Your
friends! Your…your porn!”
The jounin shrugged. “I don’t expect you
to understand. It might be complicated. But it’s the truth. So I have to make
you feel something. So I feel something.”
Iruka let out a small noise as the
taller man started grinding forward again. “Then…then…Kakashi please…there are
other ways to…make me feel better.”
The copy nin paused at the blush that
tinted the brunette’s cheeks. “Like what?”
The chuunin worked his mouth and then
bit his lip, closing his eyes in shame. “Would you just…hold me? Sleep next to
me…please? No groping, no molesting…I just want to feel someone hold me.”
Kakashi tilted his head and stared down
at the large doe eyes that held his gaze. “Can I kiss you?”
Iruka blushed again and his voice grew
very soft. “I don’t love you.”
The taller man nodded as if that were a
given. “But I want to kiss you.”
Iruka stared into the strange eyes,
looking at one and then the other. He closed his eyes after a minute and pulled
at Kakashi’s mask. The jounin leaned down and pressed their lips together
softly, curling a gloved hand into brunette’s long hair.
The smaller shinobi let out a choked
moan as he opened his mouth to Kakashi’s tongue, letting it glide over his own
slicked muscle. He pulled away a moment later, eyes still shut tightly.
Kakashi watched the school teacher
silently, pulling his mask back up. “Do you want to sleep now?”
Iruka touched his reddened lips and
nodded. “I love Jiraiya.”
The jounin ushered the brunette into bed
and climbed in after him, lying on top of the blankets instead of under them.
“He’s lucky then.”
Iruka blinked as the copy nin turned off
the lamp, he rolled to his side, facing away from Kakashi.
“Thank you Kakashi-san.”
His response was a low snore. The
chuunin smiled very softly to himself and sighed, rubbing his scar before
getting more comfortable and falling into a fast sleep.
********
“Sakura-chan, please say you can help
him?” Naruto begged as they entered the young kunoichi’s house.
“Help him? Why?” Sakura snorted when she
saw the unconscious pervert lying on her floor.
“Sakura-chan, I don’t think we should
write him off just yet. He might have hurt Iruka but he still needs to be
healed,” Kurenai said softly.
“Then afterwards he must apologize to
Iruka-sensei.”
“Please, Sakura-chan, just heal him or
else he’ll die and then Iruka-okasan will be even more miserable,” Naruto cried.
Sakura sighed but knew that her blond
friend was right. If Iruka knew that his former boyfriend had died that would
probably kill the last shred of sanity her old teacher had. So she set to work
and healed the wounds.
A couple of hours later the white haired
sannin began to come to life and once he was awake he saw four people around
him. One tear eyed blond boy, a girl with pink hair and blazing green eyes.
‘She looks like Tsu-chan when she’s angry…’ his befuddled mind thought as he
looked over to his other side and saw the genjutsu-master and the snake-charmer.
‘I’m in hell right?’
“Glad to see that you’re still alive and
no you’re not in hell Jiraiya, you’re at Sakura-chan’s home. You should be glad
to be alive at all,” Anko said.
“What happened to you Ero-sannin?”
Naruto asked. He was still angry with Jiraiya but he wanted some answers too.
“Yes, we all liked to know how you ended
up like dog shit run over,” Kurenai said.
Jiraiya for once was not the one willing
to talk. He didn’t want to tell them that when a gang of rogue ninjas had caught
him he was so depressed that he couldn’t fight them. His heart was not with his
soul. He had left his heart here in Konoha; he had left it with Iruka.
‘I was so stupid. I should never have
left in the first place. Such a fool I am….’ he thought and closed his eyes but
like every other time he only saw Iruka’s sad face and it tore him apart.
“Jiraiya-sama?” Sakura spoke.
“Just say I was a fool and still am and
leave it at that,” Jiraiya mumbled and tried to get up and with Naruto’s help he
got up in a sitting position.
“You’re an idiot alright, how could you
leave Iruka-sensei like that?? Have you any idea to how much he’s suffered
because of you?” Sakura growled and clenched her little fist. “He’s not even
fighting back when the pervert squad is groping him.”
Suddenly you could hear a needle drop on
the floor and then there was a crackling noise of chakra.
Everyone’s eyes widened when they saw
the sannin glow with fierce force.
“What did you say?” the white haired man
said as he got up.
Sakura gulped. He looked scary.
“He’s not fighting back; he just sighs
and asks them to just hand over their reports and nothing else.”
“It’s true Jiraiya, he looks as if he
lost all his will to live,” Kurenai said.
Jiraiya turned to Naruto to see the boy
nod with a sad look on his whiskered face.
“Well then… Something has to be done to
make him happy again don’t you think so too brat?” Jiraiya said and you couldn’t
believe that the older man was half dead just hours ago.
Naruto just blinked and the three ladies
just gaped in confusion.
But then Sakura got angry and she grabbed hold of the torn yukata that Jiraiya
wore. She looked up into his eyes.
“No, no… don’t you dare do that to
Iruka-sensei again. I’ll fucking kill you!!”
“Sakura-chan, please…” Naruto looked at
his pink haired friend.
“No, I will not allow it. It was your
goddamn fault that he’s like this. It’s your fault that he’s so miserable that
he won’t even smile anymore.”
Jiraiya laughed and felt the spirit of
love engulf his soul. He just shook his white mane and put a finger under
Sakura’s chin and smiled down at her.
“Don’t fret my little blossom. Because I
will not allow him to be unhappy any longer, nor am I going to make him unhappy
in the future. The reason of my defeat was because my heart wasn’t in the fight,
I left it here with Iruka and I realized something just moments before Naruto
found me…”
Silence.
“WHAT? You realized what??!” Anko
grumped.
“That my home was here. I have no reason
to travel any longer.”
And with that the old sannin disappeared
in a pillar of smoke, leaving four confused persons behind him.
***********************
The next day, when Iruka found a box of
chocolates (with all the coconut ones missing) on his doormat, he didn’t think
much of it. He mused that it was an apology or something from Kakashi, or maybe
the copy nin was trying to pursue him again.
The chuunin shook his head at that idea
and devoured the savoury sweets in a short but fierce dolphin feeding frenzy.
It was a brighter day for all of Konoha.
The sun was shining, the weather was warm, but not unbearably so. Birds were
singing their joy and flowers blossomed radiantly to show off. Iruka decided
that he was going try to act normally today. He still missed Jiraiya terribly,
of course. But he had ended it, not the other way around.
He loved the old pervert like he loved
nothing else.
But he could live without him. He’d been
doing it for twenty-five years now, he could continue on. At least that’s what
he told himself.
The school teacher filled the void and
ache in his heart by delving into his work almost obsessively. His students
found their learning schedule for the next year filled to the brim and
overloading. Meaning that homework was probably going to be tripled.
Many furious little glances were tossed
at Konohamaru since he was the one that convinced everybody not to take
advantage of their sensei. The young boy slunk down in his seat and hung his
head.
Later he was yelled at for not paying
attention.
Iruka paused only for a moment when he
found a large paper cut-out heart on his desk with a rather lewd poem on the
back. He threw it away with a roll of his eyes and glared ferociously at any
jounin that neared him with impure intentions.
Not that the other shinobi had much of a
chance to fondle their beloved chuunin. Iruka hit the mission’s office in a
whirlwind, even going so far as to clean out the lounge’s refrigerator while
simultaneously writing reports for the Hokage’s inspection.
He finished his work load in an hour in
this fashion.
Even Gai was impressed by the smaller
man’s speed as Iruka scurried about.
When the school teacher finished his
backload, he started on Kotetsu’s. And then Izumo’s. Even Shizune found herself
bereft of files to sort through.
“I don’t know if I like this Iruka any
better,” Genma said lazily as he and the other jounin’s watched the brunette
flitter about.
Raido stepped out of the way just in
time to not get bowled over when the chuunin rushed passed him. “Think he’s
overcompensating.”
“When did he get so fast?” Gai muttered.
Asuma leaned back against the wall as
Iruka came pelting through again. “I’ve always wondered what it’d be like to see
a chipmunk on crack.”
Kakashi looked over the edge of his
book. “He’ll be fine. He’s not like us.”
The older men shared a brief nod and as
one jumped out of the way as the chuunin flew through them, shouting for them to
turn in their reports or leave.
A week later Iruka found more chocolate
on his doorstep as he stepped outside in the morning, again with all the coconut
flavoured/filled ones gone. Now he was getting a bit suspicious.
And when he got to the school he found
another little love poem or whatever the hell it was supposed to be.
“Blood is red…
Your uniform is blue…
But your tanned ass…
That’s mine to woo…”
Iruka’s eyebrow twitched. That was just so… so lame… He growled and twisted the
little piece of paper and threw it in the waste basket.
Suddenly Yamanaka Ino came through the
doors, her arms full of flowers of all kinds. She put them on Iruka’s desk and
just smiled angelic and suppressed a giggle.
”What’s the meaning of this?” Iruka roared.
“Looks like Iruka-sensei has gotten
himself a new admirer,” Ino said and blinked and hurried out the door before
Iruka could throw a basket of flowers after her.
Iruka fumed. He looked over the mountain
of flowers and dared any of the kids to laugh at him. Konohamaru got the message
and bit his lip hard and so did many of his comrades. Iruka was not to be teased
in this state. That would mean a very sore bum.
Iruka found a little card amongst the
jungle of flowers and he snatched it and read it angrily. Another lame little
poem.
“I refuse to wait in line…
For you to be mine…
Just you wait and see...
The one you’ll be with…
Will be me…”
“This is just ridiculous. Who the hell
writes poems like this anyway?” Iruka growled and blew smoke out of his nose out
of frustration.
‘And what will Jiraiya say when he
comes back..?’ A little soft voice whispered
inside Iruka’s head. ‘IF HE COMES BACK, THAT TOAD BASTARD!!’ another
voice screamed viciously. He just shook his head to get rid of the annoying
voices of his good and his bad side. He needed to know what was going on. And as
if a stroke of luck he saw Gai stroll pass his classroom.
“Gai-san!!” Iruka called out and before
he could blink he had the green spandex-dressed jounin in front of him.
“You called my youthful Iruka-san?” Gai
said with a blinding smile.
Iruka tried not to cover his eyes and
cleared his throat.
“Hrm, I was wondering… could you do me a
favour and watch the class for me for just half an hour?” Iruka asked.
“Why of course, I will be happy to take
care of Konoha’s future ninjas. I will teach them about the wonderful life of a
youthful ninja and the springtime of love!!” And suddenly there was raining
flowers around him.
‘I think he just killed my flower
gift with that move,’ Iruka thought and just
nodded and exited the classroom. He could only hope that the children would
forgive him for leaving them in the clutches of the evil green ninja-man.
************
Ino was not surprised when the
scar-nosed teacher came bashing through the door to her family’s flower shop.
She had actually expected him to show up, only not so quickly after her
delivery.
“Yamanaka-san, please tell me – who sent
those flower-baskets?” Iruka demanded with his most firm voice.
“I’m sorry, Iruka-sensei, but I don’t
know. The request was made by a summoned animal… I think it was an animal…” Ino
said and smiled nervously.
“What?”
“I’m not sure if it was an animal at
all, actually it looked like a thing made out of several animals.”
Iruka just sighed. It was of no use. Who
ever it was that was sending him chocolates, lewd poems and now flowers, it was
clear that he wanted to be unknown. Iruka was sure it was a male individual.
‘Unless of course that freaky toad king summons has gone overboard and is trying
to woo me,’ but Iruka didn’t really think so. Iruka’s threats with Temari’s
large fan probably had given to poor frog permanent mental scars.
‘Not that he didn’t deserve it… but
dammit… what is going on here?’ Iruka cursed
silently as he walked back to the academy. The children had endured the green
bogey man far too long. For a weak moment he really wished that Jiraiya was with
him. He just wanted the older man to take him in his arms and carry him away
into a sunset, to a place where it was just the two of them.
‘Keep on dreaming Iruka-chan and you
might find it happen one day,’ the softer side of
him gently spoke.
“Yeah, I can dream can’t I?” Iruka
sighed and dragged his fingers across his scarred nose. ‘Yeah, I can always
dream, because he will not come back for me. I left him and he left the village.
It was never meant to happen to begin with…’
The brown eyed teacher just sighed as he
prepared to enter his classroom, fearing the worst. But to his confusion the
classroom was empty. He checked the watched and realized that he must have
wandered around far too long to get to the academy. The school day was over.
‘I wonder if they will ever forgive
me for setting them up with a substitute teacher from a green hell?’
He thought as he gathered the papers from underneath flower baskets and flower
petals. He was glad that he didn’t have to do time at the missions office today.
He had manage to work his way through several stacks of reports last evening and
tonight he was free to do anything he wanted.
Iruka put the papers into his bag and
left for home. His quiet and very lonely home. He could only hope that Naruto
would stop by and breathe some life into his house. But that was never for sure.
The young boy had a life of his own too.
‘And I’m going to sit on the glass
mountain like a lost hime…’
***************
“How I love you oh so much,
For all the charms you do possess.
Let a man behold a beauty as such,
And he can do nothing but obsess.”
Iruka blinked at the note taped to his
front door and glanced at the box of chocolates that was beneath it.
It was…sweet. The note, it was
almost….well cute. The chuunin glanced it over again, this had been going on for
a full week now. Every morning he’d find a box of heart-shaped chocolates on his
doorstep with all the coconut ones taken out and a little poem taped to it. And
every night he’d find a red rose with another rhyme.
He went back inside, wondering if this
much candy (though delicious and life-giving) was going to make him fat. The
school teacher didn’t want to turn out to be like some women who substituted
love with food. That just wasn’t like him. Of course, it also wasn’t like him to
spend so much time moping and being obsessed with his work, he reminded himself.
Iruka was a strict person by nature. He
liked rules and abided by them. Well after he had grown out of that destructive
phase of his in his younger years. But he also knew that spending so much time
grading papers and filing reports.
If filling the void of Jiraiya’s absence
with chocolate was bad, filling it with work couldn’t be much better.
He sighed and stepped over Naruto’s
prone form in front of the television, walking over to the couch and sitting by
Anko.
Kurenai looked up from her needling.
“Did you get another one?”
The chuunin held up the box. “Yes.
Whoever this is, they’re trying to fatten me up.”
Anko clicked her tongue. “Well if you’re
not going to eat them, hand ‘em over.”
Iruka did and went back to his knitting.
Yes knitting.
Kurenai and Anko had shown up the night
previous to spend some quality time with Iruka. And by “quality time”, they
meant “tie him up and not let him work”. The small man had put up quite a fight,
but eventually had no choice but to give in when Naruto came by, asking for
dinner with his large blue eyes.
So they had spent the night over,
knitting little hats socks for Naruto. Iruka had to admit, it had been fun. He
hadn’t spent time with his friends since he met the toad sannin. It was nice to
not think about anything other than what type of ramen he needed to make for
dinner.
Naruto had kept them amused with his
tales of heroics and daring saves before he had passed out while watching
movies.
Anko clawed at the box until the lid
popped of and instantly dove in, growling like an angered cat when Kurenai
reached for a treat.
“Your hips don’t need to be any wider
Kurenai,” Anko said, licking the chocolate off her fingers. “Trust me, I’m doing
you a favour.”
The red-eyed woman snarled. “You’re the
one getting pudgy dearest.”
Iruka grabbed away the box before a cat
fight could ensue and wake up the sleeping boy. “Both of you stop it, I didn’t
want to say anything, but the two of you are putting on a little weight.”
The women gaped while the chuunin
laughed and was pelted with have finished socks.
Anko snorted and glanced at the table
where she had stacked all the little love letters. “This one’s still my
favourite.”
She leaned over and snatched up the
small paper to read aloud:
“You may call me a sap,
For all these letters I write.
But it’s your ass I’ll tap,
Through morning, noon, and night.”
Iruka rolled his eyes. “You would like
that one.”
“At least he’s consistent,” Kurenai
said. “And they are quite cute.”
The school teacher went back to his
knitting and furrowed his brows. “I just wish I knew who it was. At first I
thought it was Kakashi, but I don’t think he can write things like that. Think
them, yes. Write them, no.”
“But who can it be? I mean the guy sound
more than possessive if you ask me,” Anko said with a frown on her face. “And he
sure sounds like a stalker.”
Iruka nodded. He had thought the very
same thing, but he never had seen, heard or even felt anyone stalk him since the
usual molesters had stopped their little attacks. And of course, Anko and
Kurenai were a big help too. He had seen them take on the guys on more than one
occasion in the past, all in order to protect him.
“Don’t you worry Iruka-chan, Anko and I
will not be far away, just scream from the top of your lungs and we’ll be there
in a flash to kick his sorry ass,” Kurenai said with a reassuring smile.
“Thanks, it feels good to know I have
such good girlfriends,” Iruka answered with a soft smile of his own and he meant
what he said.
“Who has a girlfriend?” Naruto grumbled
as he slowly sat up.
