A/N: I've been gone for so long and I am sure that what readers I had are probably long gone. I am so sorry for that. I guess there's no real excuse for it. I just got caught up with stuff in real life, and when this story was almost deleted I saved it just in time, only to step back and think, “I don't even know what I wanna do with this story anymore.” BUT, I am back and I am going to try to continue it, because for months I found myself thinking back to it and found that I still loved the idea, and I hated myself for letting it slip through my fingers.
So, without further ado, the long-awaited chapter six of “The Good Stuff.”

Chapter Six
Sasuke had opened his eyes to the bright, but not horribly so, light of the sun masking his face. He had almost wanted to close his eyes and turn over onto his side and let sleep drag him back down for round two, but quickly decided against it as soon as he looked at the clock on his phone. It was already half past twelve, and he was certain that if he had went back to sleep, now, he wouldn't wake up until later that night.Reluctantly, he sat up and groaned. He gave a stretch, then looked over to the other bed in the room. Suigetsu was not there, but he was more than fine with that. Still, he thought to himself, I must've been knocked out. Suigetsu was a loud person when it came to waking up, for whatever reason. He'd lay in bed and groan and toss and turn and yell and then finally grunt his way out of bed and into the bathroom to piss or shower or whatever the hell he felt like doing. It usually woke Sasuke up, but not this time around. The Uchiha tossed the blankets off of himself and turned to let his legs dangle over the side of the bed. One pale hand moved to rub at his eyes, and he stood. Just as he did, Suigetsu stepped into the room. The man blinked, then smiled.
“Well, finally,” he said and closed the door behind him as he stepped into the room. “Man, you slept like you got hit with a brick.”
“Yeah,” was all Sasuke could manage at that point. He stepped past Suigetsu and stumbled into the bathroom, his train of thought fixed on a hot shower.
Even the great Uchiha had admitted to himself that he, in fact, was quite rank at the moment.
Suigetsu watched Sasuke for a moment, that smile never faltering. The pale-haired man moved over to his own bed and sat down quietly. Just as Sasuke was about to shut the door, he spoke.
“So, your brother called while you were asleep.”
The door jerked to a stop and Suigetsu could just barely see the look of irritation and distress on Sasuke's face. The Uchiha fiddled with the handle of the door for a moment before turning his head to look at the other man. A deep frown settled on his features. “And?”
“He just wanted to know how you were. He said he missed you.”
Sasuke tried not to look like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Ever since he had fallen into this lifestyle, he had spent less and less time with his family. His father was never the type to voice his concerns for anything, but his mother had probably lost three years worth of sleep over it. Itachi was similar to his father, Fugaku, in that he didn't really voice his concerns, but when his mother, Mikoto, was troubled about something, Itachi's own emotions would seemingly be linked with hers. If Mikoto didn't call Sasuke, it was only because she didn't want to poke and prod and force herself into his life. But as soon as Itachi saw Mikoto was upset, he would try to get some sort of good news or update, just to settle her nerves.
His family knew about his “career.” However, them finding out was a mistake that Sasuke should have seen coming from a mile away. One of Fugaku's business associates had seen or heard about one of Sasuke's little movies and everything after that could be explained just as well by a tea kettle's high-pitched screech once the water came to a boil. Fugaku yelled, Mikoto cried, and Itachi looked at the floor with a powerful look of both disappointment and worry.
This memory was just one out of two reasons why Sasuke truthfully hated his line of work.
He hated talking to Itachi. His big brother only inserted magnificently subtle hints that what Sasuke was doing was wrong.
Fugaku hardly ever called at all, but the one time he did and Sasuke had been brave enough that day to pick up, the man only said a gruff “hello” and followed it with, “What you've chosen to do with your life has upset me.” Sasuke promptly hung up.
And his mother.
Dear God.
Sasuke couldn't even handle that. Mikoto would try desperately to avoid the topic. Anyone could tell that she was trying her best not to even think about it, but she did and it was painfully obvious. She would choke out chuckles and ask him how he was. She'd sniffle and try to mask the sound of her own crying. She'd make silly little “mama jokes,” asking him things like, “Are you wearing clean underwear?” and “I hope you're not talking to strangers!” Sasuke couldn't even bring himself to smile, even though that's what she wanted for him. The guilt had pasted a permanent frown on his face when he'd talk to her. He'd always pick up for her, though. She was the only one that he guaranteed an “always answer” policy to, and if he missed her call, he'd call back.
And while Itachi had asked twice why Sasuke was doing what he was, the younger Uchiha sibling wouldn't tell him.
How could I tell him, Sasuke would think. I haven't even come to grips with the reason, myself.
After the few minutes of silence, Suigetsu frowned and looked off to the side. “Are you going to call him back?” When Sasuke shook his head and closed the door, Suigetsu sighed. He figured that was to be expected. After all, he knew what Sasuke was feeling to some extent. His own family wasn't too happy with his choice of work, but Suigetsu still visited and talked to them. In his experience, that helped cushion the ever-lasting blow.
This was clearly one of those things that Sasuke had to come to terms with on his own, and Suigetsu understood that.

It was turning out to be a slow day, but Naruto was perfectly fine with that.
The blond stood behind the counter and heaved a loud sigh. Beside him, Tenten was doing her weekly “make sure the cash registers aren't fucked up” check. Once she was done, she pushed the machine closed and smiled when it gave a soft “ding.” Only a few people were eating inside today, but much like Naruto, she was fine with it. Even though she had been working there longer than most of the other people that were there, she still wasn't used to days when it was crowded.
After she clicked her teeth together softly, she leaned on the counter and looked at Naruto. Said blond shifted his gaze to her nervously. The woman was smiling, almost evilly. Naruto smiled with furrowed brows and turned his head to look at her.
“Are you about to fire me?”
“Wha—No, of course not!”
“Then what's with that look, 'ne?”
Tenten pursed her lips, one hand moving to rest on her side. “Sorry, I didn't know smiling was illegal.” Naruto scoffed, and squinted at her. She got his point.
“I was just wondering,” she said. “Did you make that guy angry?”
“No,” Naruto answered flatly. At least, I don't think so, followed in his thoughts. He looked up and thought back to last night. He was sure he hadn't pissed Sasuke off. He probably just...
“I might have creeped him out, though.”
“How did you manage to do that?” Tenten squinted.
Naruto didn't want to explain, so he shrugged. The woman seemed to be, surprisingly, satisfied with that and pushed herself off of the counter. Her arms crossed over her chest. “That kind of sucks. He was pretty cute.”
Naruto released a groan and closed his eyes, turning his head to face away from Tenten. The woman laughed and patted Naruto's back lightly. “I'm sorry, but I can't lie about it!”
“Why are you even asking about him?”
“Well, he's been comin' around here for the past few days. It's already after noon, and he hasn't shown up.”
Naruto only saw this as reason to celebrate, in all honesty. Maybe now he wouldn't have to worry about a flaming homo and his peeping sidekick coming after his butt-cherry anymore. Still, he was still admitting to himself that it felt damn good to have all that money in his hands with no strings attached. While he still felt incredibly iffy about it, but he couldn't deny that if Sasuke had offered it again, he would take it without as much hesitance as last time.
Still, there was that iffy feeling. That feeling where he just knew that, even though that money had been a supposed gift, there was an ulterior motive behind it. And it wasn't just an iffy feeling. Naruto was not an idiot. He knew that Sasuke was plotting something. He knew that Suigetsu was most likely in on it. He could just picture the two, clad in rainbow-scaled armor, hiding in the bushes while they plotted to “invade his fortress of purity.”
But maybe Sasuke had realized that it was pointless to keep trying. After all, Naruto wasn't even too confident in his looks himself. He'd only ever had sex with one person and his own insecurities had convinced him that poor Sakura had probably faked her orgasms.
What is self-esteem? How do?
Sure, Naruto was confident in some aspects of life, but sex and physical contact and kissing and “coochie-coochie-coo” and all that blegh made him shrink into a ball of “nope.”
So, surely, Sasuke had picked up on this. Naruto had also made it clear that he was not interested and his hunting knife had backed him up. He didn't know how much money it took to make a porno, but Sasuke had already blown a good wad of cash on Naruto for something unrelated, so maybe he had realized that it would be economically retarded to keep trying.
The small ringing of the bell over the door shattered all those possibilities. Sasuke Uchiha strode into the restaurant with his sunglasses on, along with a tired frown. Naruto tried not to groan. Instead, he grinned and leaned over the counter a bit, Tenten still beside him.
“Well, good afternoon, sir. How can I help you?” the blond asked in a surprisingly cheerful tone. Sasuke quirked a brow.
“When do you get off?”
“Five o'clock. Why?”
“I want to take you out.”
“Like, on a date?”
“Hn.”
Naruto scrunched his nose up and squinted, and Tenten blinked in surprise. After only a few mere seconds, the woman pointed a finger at Sasuke and spoke. “So you do like him?”
Sasuke seemed reluctant to answer that question. He only blinked behind his sunglasses and looked to the side, hoping there would be a clock there so he could pretend to be checking the time. Tenten furrowed her brows slightly and lowered her hand. Naruto sighed.
“Where will you take me?”
“Are you agreeing to go?”Sasuke asked with a smirk. Naruto scoffed.
“As long as it's not a date, I guess I wouldn't mind.”
Sasuke's smirk grew a centimeter wider and he released a puff of air through his nose, as if he tried to hold back a chuckle. He tilted his head and looked at Naruto's hands for no particular reason, trying to think of where they could go. The Uchiha hadn't bothered looking around the town, yet. All he knew about was the park, Naruto's apartment, and the blond's old family home. He blinked.
“Your place---?”
“No.”
Sasuke let out an annoyed sigh. “Movies?”
“That's too... date-y.”
“You're not leaving me many options.”
“What's that supposed to mean?”
“There's not much here,” Sasuke stated, trying not to sound as if he were mocking the blond. “I mean, what do you want me to do? Take you to an open field and watch the grass grow?” Oops, it slipped out, anyway.
Just before Naruto could open his mouth and yell an insult at Sasuke, Tenten leaned over and folded her arms on top of the counter with a polite smile. “There's the bowling alley,” she said. Sasuke blinked and looked over to her with an almost questioning gaze. She nodded. “Yeah, it's down on main street. They've got a big arcade and a diner and a skating rink. Since it's a week day, it shouldn't be that crowded.”
Sasuke almost audibly thanked the woman. Almost.
Instead, he lifted his brows with a smirk and gave a crooked nod to Naruto. Said blond looked at Tenten with a look that said “traitor.” After Sasuke cleared his throat expectantly, Naruto leaned back and sighed with a thoughtful expression. After a minute or two, he tossed his head back with a groan. “Fine,” he nearly shouted. “But don't try anything--” he sent a quick glance to Tenten. “--funny.”
Sasuke nodded his understanding while the two of them ignored Tenten's questioning gaze. A few customers walked in, and Sasuke turned to leave, but before he could, Naruto spoke to him once more.
“I'll be there at five-thirty and if you're even a second late, I'm leaving.”
Sasuke smirked and walked out, waving to the blond over his shoulder.
