Outside of the inn, he pulled her aside. "We should look excited about what's coming up." He grinned down at her, watching her reaction. She looked suspicious at first, then he thought he saw a nervous look pass over her face before she looked...resigned. He didn't know what to make of it, but then she seemed to make a decision and a moment later, she wrapped herself around him and they turned to go inside.
He smiled down into her face and pulled her to him long enough to plant a kiss on her lips. She grinned back up at him and he thought briefly that she was laying it on a bit thick. He heard someone clear their throats behind them and he turned to look at the old desk clerk.
"Good evening dears! We'll be having dinner in the dining room in about twenty minutes. You are absolutely required to join us!" She beamed at them.
"Of course, ma'am." Kakashi managed. He glanced down at Sakura. "Shall we go up to the room for a few?"
"Oh, please!" She smiled over at the clerk before turning her adoring eyes back on Kakashi.
They got upstairs a few minutes later and as soon as the door was open, Sakura bolted for the bathroom. She took a few minutes to calm herself down, then stripped and stepped into the shower. Letting the hot water wash over her, she let herself dream a bit.
What would it be like to really marry Kakashi? Not quite like this. She didn't think either of them would be so sloppy and stupid with it.
She wished she could stop thinking about him for just a few minutes. She closed her eyes and leaned against the wall, but all that did was make her feel his hands on her. He caressed her body, lingering on her breasts before leaning in to kiss her thoroughly. Her eyes flew open, but she was alone. Her overactive imagination again.
But now she had some real experience to draw from. How was she supposed to stop dreaming about him when she really did know what it was like to kiss him? To be in his arms?
Annoyed with herself, she washed her hair and scrubbed off quickly, then stepped out. For one horrible moment, she thought the towels were outside the bathroom, but then she found them in a small cabinet. Breathing a sigh of relief, she dried herself off, brushed her teeth and considered herself in the mirror.
She was no beauty. She was just...Sakura. She could handle nasty fights with Akatsuki, bring people almost back from the dead. She could heal almost anything. But when faced with Kakashi... She shook her head and turned to the door.
She opened it slightly and leaned out. He was sitting over at the small table, reading his book. The bags were on the bed, so she padded over, snatched up her two and went back into the bathroom.
She pulled out the black dress and hung it up. Next, she took out the only pair of shoes they'd had in her size. The heels were ridiculous, but she thought they'd match nicely with the dress. Next, she took out the corset set and the pair of stockings.
She pulled the tiny panties on and it took her a moment to settle them into a comfortable place. Next, she pulled out the corset. She stared at it another moment, then followed the lady's advice and loosened the cords a bit. She wrapped it around her and worked up the row of hooks until it was on. Then she reached behind herself the best she could and worked the cords until it was tight. It took some doing, but she finally managed to tie it behind her.
She turned to the mirror and noticed it didn't look quite the same. She puzzled over it a moment before she remembered that the clerk had adjusted her boobs. So, she reached in and pulled and shifted until she was satisfied with the way it looked.
She examined the garter straps on it for a moment. They looked easy enough. She carefully took the nude set out of the package and pulled them on. She managed the front strap easily enough, but the back one didn't want to cooperate. After five frustrating minutes, she managed to get it hooked. The second one didn't take quite as long, but she was still annoyed when she was done.
She paused to take a deep breath before taking the dress off of its hanger. She carefully pulled it over her head, then zipped it up the back. In the front, the neck strap criss-crossed over her chest before going around her neck. When it was in place, there was a small keyhole right over her cleavage. The black material nipped in at the waist, then flared into a fuller skirt. She twisted this way and that, examining herself in the mirror.
Next, she brushed her hair out carefully, then shoved the hangers and things back into the bags before pulling on the heels. They were high-heeled sandals with satin straps and three inch heels. She looked down at her legs and was amazed at how they looked with the heels on. She grinned evilly, then stepped out of the bathroom.
She tossed the bags on the bed, then walked over to Kakashi. She cleared her throat and he lowered his book. She grinned cheekily. "Want to go to dinner?"

Kakashi was fairly certain that all of the blood drained out of the upper half of his body. What the hell was she playing at? He stared at the peek-a-boo neckline, the narrow waist, the full skirt. His eyes continued the trip down, taking in killer legs clad in silk and the three inch heels.
He couldn't move. He couldn't think, he could only stare. This was no young genin or chunin still apprenticing under him anymore. This was no young girl. The person standing before him was all woman.
He swallowed hard and tried to remember how to breathe. He kept staring at her another few moments before he finally found his brain, somewhere south of his belt buckle. He blinked a few times, then smiled. "I..." he had to pause and clear his throat. "I take it you're ready for dinner?" It was all he could manage to keep himself from dragging her over to the bed and taking that dress off. Then the thought occurred to him that she'd taken both bags into the bathroom with her.
He closed his eyes in defense. He started thinking about the ninja rules, about Naruto, anything he could to find his sanity. When he felt he could safely look at her again, he opened them. She had a strange smile on her face. He considered her a moment before getting up and retrieving one of the bags off of the bed.
He pulled a small box out of it and turned to her. "Sakura? I just happened to see these and thought they'd look good on you." He handed her the box.
She opened them to find two small emeralds dangling from silver earring hooks. Around each one was a tiny bit of silver scrollwork. They were beautiful. She looked up at him in surprise. "They're beautiful, but... I can't take these." She tried to hand the box back to him.
He stuck his hands in his pockets. Then he turned his smile on her again and said, "think of it as a wedding present."
That got the reaction he wanted. She glared at him a moment, but there wasn't any real heat to it. She took the earrings out of the box and put them on, first the left, then the right. "There. How do I look?"
His first thought was "good enough to eat." But he managed to catch himself. "Beautiful."
She snorted at that. "Okay, you're laying it on a bit thick." She laughed, then went over to the bed to clear the packages off of it and put them away. "Let's head down to dinner?"
He was staring at her, but then shook his head. "Yes, let's."

It took her a bit to get used to the heels. But she was better at it than she thought and managed to get down to the dining room without falling once. When they went through the door, though, they got a surprise.
No one else was in the dining room. In fact, there was only one table in the center of the room. It had a white table cloth over it, place settings for two, crystal wine glasses and two taper candles, lit.
The ancient clerk shuffled out from a door in the back.
Kakashi turned to her. "I'm sorry, did we miss dinner?" He asked politely.
The older lady cackled. "Of course not, dear! This is for you two!" She indicated the table with a wave of her hand. "Please, sit! Sit!"
Kakashi put his hand on the small of Sakura's back and they walked over to the table. He held her chair for her and helped her get settled, then took his own seat.
"Very good, very good. I'll be right back!" She ambled back through the door.
Sakura tried to think of this as a mission. She tried not to think about sharing a candle lit dinner with Kakashi. She was not going to spoil their cover. It was a job. And she thought if she kept saying that to herself, she might just believe it.
The old lady came back out, toting a wine bottle. She uncorked it and poured a glass for Sakura first, then for Kakashi. She set it into a small bucket next to the table. "New import. Very good wine! Enjoy! Dinner will be ready in a few minutes."
She looked at her glass. She could hold her liquor, no doubt about that, but in her current state of mind, she didn't know what she might do if she over imbibed. She shook the thought away and decided that she could relax for a bit for the evening. She picked up her wine and took a good long drink.
Kakashi watched her and tried not to think about what a drunk Sakura would be like. He'd only seen her drink once, and he'd carried her back to her apartment, slung over his shoulder. He'd put her to bed, then sat in her chair for the rest of the night to make sure she'd be okay.
Although, when he thought about it, a drunk Sakura might just be safer than a sober one. He could more easily resist her if she was drunk. He would not take advantage of a drunk woman. Sober...
He shook his head and picked up his own wine. "It is good." He grinned at her and held up his glass. "To us, my dear," he said.
She looked at him over the rim of her glass before smiling and holding hers up, too. "To us," she said and they clinked glasses and took another drink. She set the glass down and, deciding to go for it all, she reached her hand across the table.
He saw the movement and took her hand, holding it perhaps a bit tighter than he should. He had an idea. "Sakura?" He said and leaned in.
"Hmm?" She moved a bit closer.
"Why don't we just relax and enjoy this evening? We already have a good start on the investigation. Let's just enjoy the food and company." He smiled that dazzling smile again.
Sakura had a moment to wonder if she'd ever get over seeing that smile. She turned her thoughts to his suggestion. "I think that would be very nice." She said. She didn't know how to take the 'company' part, but decided to just take it a face value. She smiled at him.
The older lady chose that moment to come in pushing a small cart. She smiled at them, showing her missing teeth. She lifted the lid on two bowls and placed first one in front of Sakura, and another in front of Kakashi. "Soup first." She also placed a small side salad for each of them on the table before turning and going back into the other room.
They ate in silence for a bit, neither sure of where to start. Sakura took a deep breath. "So, what book did you buy?"
He smiled at her. "Not Icha Icha but it is one of Jiraiya's earlier works." He waited for her to roll her eyes. When she didn't, he paused.
"What's it about?" She asked, finishing her soup and starting on her salad.
"It's a little different than the Icha Icha series. More pure romance, than the adventure that the later books include." He stabbed at some lettuce and chewed slowly.
"Romance? Jiraiya wrote romance?" She looked up from her salad.
He nodded. "The Icha Icha books are actually mostly romance. Don't roll your eyes!" He said, then continued. "Anyway, there are some mature scenes in the books, but the central theme is romance. If you'd ever give in and read one, you'd know."
She watched him eat another minute, and took a sip of her wine. "Okay. Loan me one of yours when we get back to the Leaf."
He looked up in surprise. "Okay." He finished his salad and right on cue, the older lady came back out with the cart.
She cleared the salad and soup and turned to pull the lids off of the dinner plates. There was some savory fish, rice and vegetables. Despite the soup and salad, Sakura's mouth watered. The lady re-filled their wine glasses, then retreated back to the kitchen.
Sakura picked up her chop sticks and sampled the fish. "Oh, my. This is wonderful." She grinned, "we picked a good place for our honeymoon."
He smiled back. "Yes, yes we did." He sipped his wine and watched her eat a moment before turning back to his own plate.
The soup and salad had only succeeded in whetting their appetite, and both spent some quiet time just concentrating on eating. After they'd both eaten quite a bit, Kakashi said quietly, "that dress is really beautiful on you. But I suspect you could make a burlap rice sack look good."
She stared at him, open-mouthed a moment before taking a sip of her wine. She paused a moment and, despite disagreeing with him, she said simply, "thank you."
Kakashi reached over and picked up the wine bottle. He refilled both glasses, then picked his up. He took a sip, then said, "one more toast - to the leaf." He said quietly and held up his glass. She smiled, "to the leaf," she repeated and they clinked glasses once more.
She drank her wine down and was mildly disappointed that she didn't feel anything. She set the glass down and laid her hand on the table once more. Kakashi took it, but this time, he lifted it to his mouth and kissed it.
She wanted to close her eyes, deny what was happening to her, but she couldn't. She was falling for him. She cursed herself to the four winds.
He watched the play of emotions move over her face. "Sakura?"
"Impossible. I'm impossible." She sighed.
He raised an eyebrow, but she just shook her head. "Never mind. I'm fine."
He didn't buy it, but decided to let it drop. The older clerk came back out, cleared away the dishes and disappeared into the back. A moment later, they heard the beginning of soft music. He smiled at her and stood. Holding his hand out to her, he said simply, "dance with me."
Sakura did allow herself a moment to close her eyes now. The thought of being in his arms. To hell with it, she thought, and stood up, taking his hand once more.
He guided her into his arms and they started swaying slowly to the music. She wouldn't have thought of him as being a dancer, but if what he said about the books he read was true, then it shouldn't surprise her.
The soft, slow music wasn't something that called for a lot of foot work. So, they did little more than move back and forth a little. He held her the old fashioned way, one arm around her waist, the other holding her hand against his chest.
She closed her eyes and laid her head against his chest, savoring the feeling of being in his arms. She pretended for a few minutes that this wasn't a play, she wasn't undercover, he wasn't pretending. She felt is arm tighten a little and then he kissed her on the temple.
It was just a light brush of his lips, but it sent chills down her spine. She opened her eyes and looked up at him. Their eyes met and neither made a sound. Instead, he dipped his head and kissed her on the lips.
It started so softly. They brushed their lips, then just a tiny bit of pressure. Her hand moved of its own accord, and she wound her fingers through his hair. He tilted his head and slanted his lips more firmly on hers and he let go of her other hand to pull he closer and wrap both arms around her.
Any thoughts she had about how much this would hurt her when it was over were shoved into the back of her mind. She was determined to enjoy it. She poured a lot of her turmoil into the kiss and he took every bit of it. A moment later, they broke apart.
"We should..." he paused to clear his throat. "We should probably go up."
She nodded and started to pull away, but he kissed her once more, gently this time, before he released her. Even then, he took her hand and led her up the steps. He pulled the key out and unlocked the door, then opened it, and allowed her to proceed him.
She stopped dead and gasped. As he stepped through the door, he understood why.
