Hello everyone! Finally, after much waiting, my very first lemon is about to begin! Wish me good luck...

Sorry I didn't update sooner, but I've been having one hell of a workload lately. I barely have time to read other fics anymore! (T_T)

But don't worry, I made this chapter Extra-long to make up for the lack of updates (hell, it's more than twice as long as the other chapters).

Thanks to everyone who made a review on my story (there's not too many of you, but I really appreciate it), and to everyone who took some of their time to read it, even if you didn't comment on it. Anyway, without further ado, what all of you have been waiting for! The Lemons! Hooray for lemons!

And, yes, dear Kipling, you guessed it. This lemon is Lee/Ten (though that must be pretty obvious by now). And even though Neji is not completely out of the picture yet, I doubt there will be any jealous fights or threesomes. But I guess we'll have to read to find out.

Chapter 6 - That Night at the Hospital...

Lee and Ten-Ten remained silent and motionless, stating at each other with embarrassment. They were both suddenly confused and nervous by each other's presence, and the tension in the air was so thick it could be cut with a kunai. Fortunately for them, that awkward situation didn't last long, for a nurse came in carrying a lunch tray for Lee shortly after.

While her teammate ate his lunch with a voracious appetite, Ten-Ten went to the bathroom to allow herself some time alone. When she looked at her reflection on the mirror, she saw her cheeks were still a little flushed for being caught in such an embarrassing situation.

She brought a hand up to her face, and while cupping one cheek in it, she spoke to herself. "Boy… what am I doing?" The faint smile in her face proved that though she was quite embarrassed by what happened, she didn't regret a second of it. "At least he didn't wake up during the kiss..." said Ten-Ten with relief. Such a thing would have surely left her with a lot more explaining to do.

Ten-Ten took a deep breath and calmed herself down. She didn't really have to explain anything to Lee right now. It was common knowledge that Lee was very naive, and though he could be quite smart at times, he was easily deceived. It wouldn't be hard for Ten-Ten to avoid this embarrassing episode… until she was ready to tell him the truth.

Regaining much of her usual confidence, Ten-Ten put up a tough exterior and walked back to the room she had just left.

When she entered, Lee's chopsticks froze halfway to his mouth, and his cheeks started to flush again. He gave Ten-Ten a questioning gaze, and she felt the impulse to avoid it and hide her face in her hands, but remained impassive. She walked towards the bed and sat down on a chair next to it.

"Come on, Lee" she said in a cool yet cheerful voice. "Finish your meal. We can talk afterwards". The young ninja didn't argue, lowered his eyes and started eating silently as if Ten-Ten's friendly advice had been a strict order. Meanwhile, the kunoichi carefully planned what to say to her friend and which words to use in order to stop him from hurting himself further.

Ten-Ten remembered both Neji and her teacher saying Lee was more aggressive than ever before, so she decided to be subtle and not touch a sore spot just yet. She decided to distract him talking about something else, but then, that left her in a bit of a loss about what to say about Lee's awkward awakening.

She was still planning what to say when Rock Lee finished his meal. Both ninja remained quiet and that tense atmosphere that they had felt earlier fell upon them once again. Though the brown-eyed kunoichi was dying to break the silence, she realized she was feeling some unusual nervousness, her stomach fluttering and her words dying unspoken on her throat.

However, much to Ten-Ten's surprise, it was Lee who spoke first, almost catching her off-guard as she struggled to get her words out of her chest. "Ehm… Te-Ten-Ten? I… I need to know… what were you..." he made a brief pause to gather some courage, and finished his question. "What were you doing when I woke up?"

Ten-Ten felt her cheeks flush again and her mind totally blank. "W-well... that... ehm... that is..." she started stammering, hoping a coherent answer would suddenly appear in her mind. Much to her surprise, it did.

She regained her cool and started speaking normally. "Well, it has something to do with my arm" she said, looking down to her immobilized right arm. Lee's eyesight followed hers, and he finally seemed to notice the reason his female friend was wearing a hospital gown.

"Oh god! Ten-Ten! What happened to you?" said Lee, suddenly ashamed he hadn't really noticed her arm before. "Did someone attack you? Are you OK?" His sweet and caring nature was getting the best of him, and he was raising his voice to the point he was almost yelling.

"Hey, hey. It's no big deal" said Ten-Ten, motioning for him to calm down. "It was just a training accident with Neji". She then proceeded to tell her teammate the whole story, except for the parts concerning her sleepless night, her jealousy towards Sakura and her feelings for him.

"...and then I woke up in here, with my arm like this. The doctors said I lost a lot of blood". She didn't feel like telling Lee (or anyone) about the part where Neji had found her almost naked, so she stopped her story there.

Lee nodded as his brain absorbed all of her story. He didn't seem to notice that what she had said didn't really answer his original question, and Ten-Ten smiled to herself, content that she managed to avoid the topic.

Both Genin talked the afternoon away, while Ten-Ten carefully steered the conversation to make it go where she wanted. Finally, as the sun was starting to set and the room was filled with the sunset's orange light, Lee seemed to have returned to his usual self, as no trace of anger or frustration could be seen in his face.

The brown-eyed kunoichi thought he was relaxed enough so she decided to subtly try and convince him of taking the painkillers.

"Say, Lee. Gai-sensei came to visit me earlier today" she said, while looking intently at his face for any change in his features. "He seemed really upset, like something terrible happened to him". She let her sentence hang in the air, expecting Lee's guilt moved him to answer.

Although Rock Lee's face pretty much said 'pain' and 'guilt' all over, he remained quiet. Using a soft voice, Ten-Ten tried to encourage him to speak, without pushing him too much. "You want to talk about what happened?"

The ninja in bed looked sadly out the window and shook his head slowly. "No. I don't feel like it".

Ten-Ten though it was quite understandable. "You want me to tell Gai-sensei you're sorry?" Lee nodded, but kept facing away from her. "OK, I will. But… you know what would really brighten him up again?"

Upon hearing her words, Lee turned quickly to face her. His eyes shone with hope. It was rather obvious that hurting his teacher was tearing him apart, maybe even more than his physical pain. "What is it? What should I do?"

The brown-eyed ninja hesitated. *Please, don't get mad, please, don't get mad* she thought over and over again as she began to form a sentence. "Well… you should…" Lee stared at her expectantly. Ten-Ten sighed and finished her sentence. "You should listen to him. Take those painkillers and do your best to recover".

The quick change that swept over Lee's face instantly told Ten-Ten her plan had failed. *Damn* she managed to think before she prepared herself to face her teammate's anger.

"Do my best to recover?" asked Lee loudly. "You think I'm not trying hard enough? You think I can just miraculously heal if I stay in bed a few days?" He was getting louder and angrier every passing second.

Ten-Ten kicked herself mentally for her less than perfect choice of words, but she wasn't just about to give up without a fight. Though her voice wasn't as calm as she would have liked when she answered, she managed not to give her feelings away along with her words.

"Well, by the looks of it, you're not really in a rush to heal, since you're not taking your medication or following the doctor's orders". She kind of hated herself for being so harsh on Lee, but part of her felt defied, as her friend never would have dared to raise his voice to her, or ignore her advice. Not that she liked to boss Lee around or anything.

Lee seemed as though he was about to say something terrible, but held himself back and looked away. "Damn it, Ten-Ten. I thought you of all people would understand what I'm going through" he said with a little less anger. "I was wrong. Go away! I want to be alone now".

Ten-Ten looked at him with a mix of sadness and anger. She knew all too well what he was going through. At least, she thought she did. "Hey, I don't care what you say or do, but I'm not leaving" she said defiantly. "I'm not letting you push me aside like you did with Neji and Gai-sensei!"

Lee was reaching the limits of his patience, and Ten-Ten knew it. It was just a matter of time before he snapped, and though the kunoichi knew one of them would get hurt when that happened, she was willing to bear anything if it meant her friend would be himself again.

Ten-Ten could feel the tears forming in her eyes as she waited for Lee to answer. When he didn't, she thought his silence was a good sign, so she spoke again with a softer voice, but not managing to conceal her sadness completely.

"Can't you see we're your friends? We love you and care about you" she said, not realizing what her words were about to bring. "Why do you want to be alone on this?"

Suddenly, Lee's mind went blank and every bit of self-control he had went out the window. Without even knowing what he was doing, or why he was so angry in the first place, he heard his own voice shout back at his female friend. "Alone? ALONE? Well I'd rather be alone than surrounded by a bunch of useless bastards!" He spat every word with an anger Ten-Ten had never seen before. "You can't bear this pain for me, and you can't heal my bones either. You can't help me! Now get the hell out of here!"

*SLAP*

Since his body was still numb due to the painkillers, Rock Lee didn't feel any pain, he just felt his head forced sideways and heard Ten-Ten's hand hit his face. Allowing himself a slight pause in his rage, the Genin in bed turned his head slowly back to its former position. He then caught a glimpse of his teammate, whose eyes were brimming with tears of both fury and sadness.

Usually, the sight of Ten-Ten crying would be more than enough to turn Lee into the perfect gentleman, willing to do anything in order to make his dear friend smile again. Not this time though. His rage, bottled up for so long, had finally found its way out, and it would take more than a slap or a few tears to cool him down.

Still, although he was enraged beyond belief, his female teammate's tears did have some impact on him. Gathering the force of his unshakable willpower, Lee managed to hold back some of his anger. He looked away from Ten-Ten, and with a surprisingly calm voice, he said "Go away".

Ten-Ten was really surprised by his sudden change, but his words didn't convince her. "I told you I'm not leaving. You're going to listen to me, whether you like it or not" she said firmly. Even through her tears, she could see Lee clench his teeth in barely suppressed rage. Deciding it was just too painful to watch him like this, she got up and walked to the feet of the bed, where she leaned facing away from him.

Once there, and without the image of her friend and teammate to distract or hurt her, she began to speak again, somewhat surprised Lee didn't try to interrupt her. "Come on Lee" she said between small sobs. "I know you're frustrated, but you can't just throw your future out the window". No answer.

Grateful for Lee's silence, Ten-Ten continued to speak, slowly calming her sobs and tears. "Just be patient. The doctors in here are very good; I know they'll come up with something" she said while staring out the window. "And if they don't… well, then I'll go myself to other villages and bring the best doctor I can find!"

The last rays of sunlight were quickly fading away in the darkening horizon, and Ten-Ten wiped her tears with her good arm to get a better view of the dusk. "I promise I'll get the best doctor ever! Just… just wait, ok? Please do this... do it... for me"

She stood in the darkening room waiting for an answer. When she didn't receive any, she turned back to her teammate, somewhat expecting Lee to have plugged his ears in order to ignore her words. Her eyes however, presented her a rather different sight.

Rock Lee lay in bed, his body trembling, his eyes tightly closed and his teeth still clenched, but for a different reason this time. As soon as she registered the image her eyes presented her, Ten-Ten's voice quickly changed from sad to worried. "Lee? Are you OK?" The only answer she received was a strangled 'argh' from her friend's lips.

She hurried back to his side, not really sure what to do. "Lee, what is it? What's wrong?" she asked, though she already had a good idea of what happened. While she was facing away from him, during some point of her talk, Lee's pain had returned. Ten-Ten couldn't help but wonder if her friend had even heard what she told him.

"Damn! Don't move, Lee. I'll go get a nurse or something" said Ten-Ten as she quickly turned to leave. However, she didn't get far, for as she turned around, a hand grabbing her left arm held her in place. She squirmed and moved trying to break free, but Lee spoke to her in a husky voice that instantly stopped her movement.

"No... don't. I... I… won't let you do it..." he said, obviously with much effort. Ten-Ten turned to watch him again, and felt her heart shrink as she saw him wincing and squirming in pain. Still, even through her pain and worries, she was impressed by how far Lee was willing to go to get what he wanted.

"Come on, Lee! Let me go!" Ten-Ten started moving again, struggling to break free of his grip, but, though wounded, Lee was still much stronger than her. Realizing it was useless, she decided to yell, hoping someone would come to check what happened.

Unfortunately for Ten-Ten, Lee realized what she was up to, but since he had no other way to stop her, the black haired ninja pulled her forward before she could open her mouth to yell, making her fall flatly on his chest. Then, to prevent her from yelling out, he put his right hand over her mouth and his left arm around her shoulders to stop her from leaving.

Ten-Ten struggled to break free, but the ninja beneath her was having none of it. However, as she moved and squirmed in her attempts to escape, Lee's pain got sharper, deeper and more intense, to the point he felt his strength falter and a painful scream growing in his throat.

Making use of the great force of will that made him a genius of hard work, Konoha's green beast managed a few words to his teammate without allowing his scream past his lips. "Ngg… stop… argh… stop moving... you... you're hurting me..."

His words had the desired effect, and Ten-Ten stopped moving, since the last thing she wanted was to cause her friend more pain. She almost started crying as she realized just how cruel her teammate was being. If she moved to break free, his pain would only increase, but if she didn't, there was no way to get painkillers for him.

They both lay quietly for a few moments, with only Lee's ragged breath breaking the silence. Just as Ten-Ten thought she couldn't take the situation any longer, the wounded Genin beneath her stared into her eyes and whispered softly to her. "Shh... please... promise you won't scream..."

The kunoichi nodded slightly, and Lee withdrew his hand from her mouth, though he didn't let his female friend leave his forceful embrace. Still looking into his eyes, Ten-Ten whispered back to him, fighting hard to keep herself from crying. "Why? Why are you doing this to yourself?" though she didn't cry, she couldn't hold back a small sob that left her lips. "Why are you doing this to me?" she said so softly that Lee barely heard it.

A little confused, Lee thought Ten-Ten meant the less-than-gentle way he had held her, and released her from his grip, but she didn't back away from him. Instead, the kunoichi closed her left hand, grabbing a handful of Lee's hospital clothing, and lowered her head, so he couldn't see her eyes brimming with tears.

"I'm sorry" said Lee as he saw her reaction. Ignoring his pain was easier now that Ten-Ten's actions and tear-filled eyes burned a hole in his heart, and his emotional pain eclipsed his physical suffering. "But this is the path I've chosen. It may be lonely and painful, but it's my own shinobi way".

The brown-haired kunoichi sobbed louder. She was on the verge of tears now, and her friend's words weren't helping at all. "I'm really sorry about this Ten-Ten, but I won't let anyone stand in my way" said Lee cold-heartedly. "Not even you".

That was just too much for the already sobbing girl. As soon as she felt the first of her tears flow down her cheek, she slid her good arm underneath Lee's right shoulder and held him tightly, while crying her heart out on his chest.

As she once again rested her head on her teammate's chest, Ten-Ten found it really strange that this same position, which had brought her great calm and happiness just a while ago, was now shattering her heart into countless tiny fragments.

As he felt her sobs and her embrace, so filled with emotion, Lee put her arms around Ten-Ten's shoulders, holding her gently and caringly. His resolve hadn't changed at all, but he wasn't going to stand idly while his best female friend was suffering. He tried to comfort her, stroking her hair and whispering soft and soothing words, while Ten-Ten's sobs slowly died away.

After some minutes passed, Ten-Ten had stopped crying, though a few sobs escaped her mouth every now and then. She seemed to have calmed down a bit, but in the meantime, Lee's pain, which had been pleasantly ignored, came back with a vengeance. Making a huge effort, Rock Lee tried to ignore it and remained both completely still and quiet, not wanting to disturb his teammate, as she finally seemed to have found some calm and comfort on his arms.

Ten-Ten however, was far from being calm. Though her body was tired and spent due to all her shed tears, both her mind and heart were restless. Her heartache was almost unbearable, and she was willing to do anything to relieve herself of such burden, when she remembered the kiss she gave Lee while he was still asleep.

She couldn't honestly say she knew why she did it. Maybe she thought that, if her dear Lee returned her love, her broken heart could be mended. Or maybe she thought that she could somehow heal him with this. Anyhow, before Lee noticed what she was doing, Ten-Ten pressed her lips against his for the second time that day.

Even though it was a short kiss, it was full of meaning and emotion. As Ten-Ten poured all of her feelings into that loving kiss, the black-eyed Genin felt his body freeze and his brain shut down. Though he was too confused by his friend's unexpected but welcomed lips to move, speak or do anything that required his brain, Rock Lee could feel something changing inside his body.

Ten-Ten broke the kiss, and as she held him closer and rested her head on his right shoulder, her long-suppressed feelings found their way out of her chest in form of a soft whisper. "Please Lee" She needed to tell him, although she felt the rational side of her brain yelling for her to stop. But she couldn't, she wouldn't stop. There was no going back now. "I... I love you... I can't bear... to watch you suffer like this..." she said in between small sobs, which made her words even more touching.

Meanwhile, Lee's body and mind were a mess. The sharp pain on his bones no longer seemed so important or intense. Ten-Ten's words had quickly managed to get to his heart, which he felt pounding excitedly on his chest, and a wonderful warmth ran through his body, momentarily erasing all pain. But on his mind, things were far more complicated.

Part of his brain was still hell-bent on making him refuse the painkillers, while a small voice kept telling him to give up and accept the medication, as his emotional side struggled between images of Ten-Ten as a friend and a lover.

Instead of answering, Lee just held his female friend tighter against his chest as he fought to find some order among the chaos on his mind. However, it wasn't a wise move, because as soon as he flexed the muscles on his left arm, the searing pain that shot through it almost made him scream.

Ten-Ten noticed this, and concerned by the strangled groan her friend made, she got up slightly to look at his eyes again. "Please, let me go" she said softly, and as she looked at him with shining eyes despite the room was almost dark, Lee realized it would take all of his remaining willpower to deny anything to such a beautiful and loving girl.

And yet, he couldn't allow himself to let her go. As his pain increased in intensity, Lee lowered his gaze from her eyes, down her wet cheeks to her soft and inviting lips. The last kiss she gave him had been unlike anything he had ever felt before, and when he remembered the wonderful sensations that Ten-Ten sent through his body with just that kiss, her lips seemed like an oasis of pleasure amidst the desert of his suffering.

"No..." he whispered back. "Please stay here... Stay with me" said Lee as he brought their lips together for a deep and passionate kiss. Though Ten-Ten didn't expect it, she didn't try to back away, since it was the first time her beloved Lee showed feelings towards her other than friendship.

Lee could taste the salty tears that had managed to reach his friend's mouth, and as both ninja reveled in the feelings and sensations their joined lips brought upon them, he brought both his hands to her back, and softly pulled her forward to deepen their kiss as he caressed her long and silky hair.

Both ninja felt in heaven, as they finally found a solace from their suffering on each other's lips, but, much to their displeasure, their bodies pleaded for air, and they had no choice but to break their kiss. They remained still, panting slightly and staring into each other's eyes. This didn't last long though, for their instincts pushed them forward, making them lose themselves on each other's lips.

Even though Ten-Ten's kiss was heavenly, unlike anything he had ever felt before, Lee felt his body asking for more. As he brushed his tongue slightly against her lips, he let his hands travel her back, feeling every curve of her lean body, and was delighted to notice that despite the fact she wore a gown, it was so thin that it was almost as if she wasn't wearing anything.

Ten-Ten's heartbeat was out of control, but just when she thought things couldn't get any better, she felt the wonderful warmth of Lee's tongue on her lips, and his strong yet gentle hands exploring her body. She shuddered as a pleasant chill ran up her spine, and parted her lips to allow her teammate's wet muscle to enter her mouth.

Both Genin reached a new level of pleasure as they let their tongues dance together and their hands explore each other's figure. Lee still felt an unpleasant aching on the left side of his body, but it wasn't as bad as before, and was quickly fading away under the delicious sensations surging through his body.

As he enjoyed the sweet taste of Ten-Ten's tongue on his lips, Lee instinctively slid his hands down her back until he reached his teammate's ass, and gave it a soft squeeze. The kunoichi almost yelped in surprise, and before the black-eyed ninja could do anything about it, she slid out of his embrace and out of his reach.

Ten-Ten stood a few feet from the bed, blushing so deeply it was clearly visible in the almost dark room. She suddenly felt really nervous, as she realized that, while kissing was enough for her, Lee probably wanted much more. "A-a n-nurse... I'll go... get a nurse..." she said shyly as she stumbled to the door.

"No, wait!" There was something in Lee's voice that Ten-Ten just couldn't ignore, something that made her stop in her tracks and turn back to him. "Please, don't go". His voice was filled with… longing… for her! Though his words and the emotions that filled them made Ten-Ten's stomach flutter, she wasn't really sure she wanted to continue with this.

It wasn't like Lee's hands on her body and her ass felt bad, it was quite the opposite. It was really nice, it's just that... it felt kind of strange. She would need some time to get used to such feeling.

Ten-Ten tried to fight her nerves and find an excuse to leave Lee's presence, which was once again confusing her and making her uneasy. "Bu-but... your pain... I'll go get some painkillers..."

Lee gave her a warm smile and spoke softly. "I don't need those anymore. I'm no longer in pain". Though that wasn't completely true, his pain had receded enough so he could speak and act normally. Ten-Ten stared at him disbelievingly, trying in vain to see if her friend was lying, but Lee was hiding it real good. The black-haired ninja threw the bed covers off his body, and then threw his legs over the edge of the bed. "And it's all thanks to you". That said, he stood up and walked slowly towards her.

Ten-Ten's mind was still a huge mess. As Lee got closer and closer, she started backing away as if scared, until she had her back against the wall. Though his pain was growing quickly with every step, Rock Lee managed to get to his female friend without showing the slightest sign of suffering or even discomfort. When he reached his nervous teammate, the young Taijutsu master put his arms around her waist, and held her to his body with great care.

As she rested her head on his shoulder, she felt once again the warmth and comfort of Lee's strong arms protecting her, but her uneasiness remained. Lee could feel her squirming in his embrace, and he lowered his head to whisper in her ear. "Please don't go..." he said again, the longing on his voice even greater than before. "I need you..."

Ten-Ten felt her heart skip a beat. Did he just say he needed her? Upon hearing those words and the meaning in them, the brown-eyed kunoichi felt most of her nervousness melt under the warmth of her love. Of course she still felt uncomfortable, but the thought of helping Lee was more than enough to push her forward. Using her good arm, Ten-Ten returned Lee's affectionate hug, and after a few seconds, she raised her face to kiss him.

Afraid he might scare her again, Lee kept from moving his hands or using his tongue too much, as they shared a soft and loving kiss, and waited for her to make the next move. That proved to be difficult, however, for she wasn't moving at all and his strength was starting to falter. Finally, despite his efforts, Lee's legs almost gave in under his weight, and he had to hold on to Ten-Ten in order to avoid hitting the floor.

The brown-eyed ninja was surprised by the sudden way Lee's lips left her own, and almost fell forward as his weight dragged her down. "Oh, Lee!" she said as she tried to keep both of them from falling. "You shouldn't be out of bed. Here, lean on me". Ten-Ten passed her friend's left arm over her shoulders and held on to him as they both walked back to the hospital bed.

Once she got him laid back on his bed, Ten-Ten took a moment to go through her feelings once again. Though her nerves still had her knees shaking, what Lee had whispered in her ear really calmed her down, and if what he said about not being in pain thanks to her was true...

Ten-Ten sat on the bed again, and when her teammate threw his arms around her shoulders, she didn't put up any resistance. However, instead of joining her lips with his, Ten-Ten avoided Lee's mouth and placed her head on the crook of his neck. He felt a bit disappointed, but didn't want to force her into kissing him.

"Say it again" she whispered in Lee's ear. The black-eyed ninja was a little confused, since his pain was once again growing in intensity. *Say what again?* he thought. After a moment's pause, Lee realized what his teammate meant, and holding her closer to him, with a voice filled with tenderness, he said again: "I need you..."

Ten-Ten felt his words and the softness he treated her with warm her up inside, and she cast away her remaining doubts. Unfortunately, love truly is blind, for she didn't realize her friend's words were born out of desire, fueled by his instincts and strengthened by the promise of even greater pleasure.

Ten-Ten giggled softly, reveling on what she thought was the reciprocation of her love. She wanted to kiss him again, but Lee's shoulder was so comfortable and warm, and filled with that sweet yet masculine scent that emanated out of his whole body, that the brown-eyed kunoichi decided to stay still for a while, inhaling more of that intoxicating aroma.

As she lay on Lee's chest, a sudden and daring thought crossed her mind, turning her cheeks a light shade of pink. She had already tasted Lee's lips and enjoyed doing so, but Ten-Ten surprised herself with her own bold thoughts as her instincts pulled her forward, inciting her to taste his skin as well.

Lee gasped in surprise when he felt his teammate's warm and moist lips on the skin of his neck. The mentioning of the painkillers made Ten-Ten remember they were still in Konoha's hospital and that besides the fact that anyone could walk in on them any second, she still had to convince her teammate to stop refusing his medication. "Alright, I promise" said the black-eyed Genin. Content with his answer, she walked to the door. Opening it a little bit, she turned to give his friend turned lover one last look. "I'm going to take a shower, ok? I'll see you tomorrow". once again, sleep had caught up with Lee, who let out a big yawn. "Thank you, Ten-Ten. You're a great friend".

Ten-Ten froze on the doorway, but Lee was too tired to notice. "Friend?" she whispered while looking at him with bewilderment. She stood in the doorway for a few moments, trying to put some order in the chaos that filled her mind, when a nurse came by carrying a tray with a warm meal and a syringe with painkillers. "Excuse me" said the nurse, looking over Ten-Ten into the room. "Is Lee-kun awake?" The brown-eyed kunoichi was startled by the nurse's voice, and spun quickly to face her. Pushing her thoughts aside, she managed to form one coherent sentence. "Y-yeah... come in". Having said so, she moved out of the way and left the room while the nurse approached Lee's bed.

As she walked away from her teammate's room, Ten-Ten was oblivious to the world around her. She got to her room walking like a zombie, and despite the feelings clashing inside of her mind, she didn't even feel like crying. It was like her heart was suddenly and violently ripped out of her chest, leaving behind the great emptiness of knowing that what Lee and her just shared didn't mean the same for him as it did for her.
