In the end it was Kakashi that found Sasuke near the youth’s old apartment, not long after the twilight had faded. “Sasuke,” he called.
Turning, the younger Uchiha caught sight of the familiar presence he had felt nearing and stood waiting for his approach. ::I still don't sense Naruto.... what has that idiot done now?:: “What?” he asked shortly his attention more on sensing the Kyuubi-boy than anything else.
“There's someone who wants to see you at the training field as soon as possible,” he answered as he came up to Sasuke.
Sasuke's eyes narrowed a little but he nodded and turned for the field. “Let's go...” he murmured and moved off in that direction, expecting that Kakashi would follow.
It didn't take them long to get there and Kakashi didn't bother to feign surprise when he saw Tsunade was already there. “Any news?” he asked, knowing she would understand that he meant about Naruto. His own information search had turned up nothing so far.
“None,” she answered him her eyes never leaving the boy standing so unbelievably still beside Kakashi. Her eyes moved to the Jounin at a moment when Sasuke's gaze trailed off to the distant right and her expression spoke volumes. 'Prepare to move out of the way,' her body language screamed for the minute in which Sasuke was lost in his own thoughts and not paying attention to them. and then she lunged.
Though completely unprepared for such an attack, Sasuke's guard flew into being immediately, his forearms crossing in front of him protectively. Tsunade was the grand-daughter of the First Hokage, and she had inherited his Herculean strength undeniably... as Sasuke realized when his feet slid back many feet with that first blow. “What the hell are you doing, woman?” Sasuke snapped in an almost monotone. He was irritated at having his concentration broken just before he’d located Naruto. He hadn't been expecting an all out attack from the Sannin anyway. What the hell was going on?!
Now as curious as anything, Kakashi simply got out of the way to watch, trusting Tsunade's judgment. There was obviously something she knew that he didn't and he wasn't going to stop her unless he saw a good reason to. ::Naruto might have told her something...:: he mused, knowing that sometimes the blonde boy found it easier to talk to the old woman than him, as strange as that idea was.
She didn't answer him. His answers would come after she'd found her own. Holding nothing back Tsunade viciously attacked again twisting, kicking, punching, she even went so far as to use the usual kunai and shuriken. Any normal human, even a ninja like Kakashi himself, would be dead, or winded and injured badly at the very least...
The kunai and shuriken were torn mindlessly from his flesh no matter where they had impacted, and there were no marks left behind to slow him down. Tsunade's offensive actions had so far received only defensive responses from Sasuke, but the unusually level-headed Uchiha had just about reached his limit. Amazingly, Tsunade's strength hadn't done any damage to him, where she could crumple a good portion of a stone wall with one fist slammed into it backwards behind her she seemed to be unable to affect Sasuke.
::Have it your way, hag...:: Sasuke finally decided and felt the Power roil to the surface within him as he unleashed some of his iron-fisted control. Tsunade's next punch, aimed for his side, was caught easily. Sasuke's eyes were as set as his mouth while he crushed her hand without mercy. He'd moved far too fast for her to see his block-counter coming.
Tsunade's scream of agony echoed around them for the few moments it took her to recollect herself after so brutal a defeat. To her surprise he let her go and allowed her to retreat to the far end of the field. Like a wounded bird she cradled her hand to her stomach and stared at him “You...” she couldn't find the words through her pain, but now she knew.
At some point during the fight Kakashi had lifted his hitai-ate, but not even his Sharingan could catch Sasuke's lightning movements. Warily he looked from Sasuke to Tsunade and back, not sure of what to do. Sasuke had badly wounded the Hokage, but she had been attacking him without mercy so there was the argument of self-defense... ::But that speed just isn't human... not even Lee or Gai can move that fast!::
“Told you,” a gloomy voice called out to Tsunade from a tree. Naruto had found Jiraiya all right. Only to be dragged back to Konoha, his mentor yelling at him for being a coward the whole way home.
Jiraiya had Naruto by the collar and had witnessed the whole fight. He hadn't believed the brat when he'd said that Sasuke wasn't human anymore but now... he was leaning toward accepting it. He leapt down, pulling Naruto with him, and walked over to Tsunade, keeping a watchful eye on Sasuke all the while. He too vaguely remembered rumors. “Let me see,” he said softly, reaching for her had. Every bone was crushed. Returning his full attention to Sasuke he demanded firmly, “Explain yourself.”
Tsunade gritted her teeth and looked to Sasuke waiting. “This had better be good...” she murmured, wincing.
“She attacked me,” he stated frankly. They would have to fight for every inch. His cover wasn't blown until he admitted it was blown.
“That's not what I meant, gaki, and you know it,” Jiraiya ground out. Tell us what you told Naruto.”
He looked up at Kakashi briefly, smirking at seeing the Sharingan still trained on him, and then looked to Jiraiya. “What did I tell Naruto exactly?” he asked as his gaze slid to meet with sullen blue eyes.
“That you're dead. Un-dead. Whatever. What did you mean?” Jiraiya was short on patience at the moment, having used most of it in dragging a reluctant Naruto home.
Naruto turned away, refusing to look Sasuke in the eye, refusing to acknowledge that the other boy was there. He wanted too much to leave. Kyuubi began to growl again.
::A bluff will not work here I can see... and I can't use any tricks if I expect to stay until Itachi comes... Fine.:: Sasuke remained where he was, but his gaze drifted over each of them before he began. “I died. I'm living again. It makes me the un-dead, or living dead. I am Immortal. I will no longer age or feel sickness. As you have witnessed, my strength is incomparable. My speed is far faster than even an Anbu could reach...” ::I will tell you none of my weaknesses without being forced into it. It would be like asking them to stake me...::
Jiraiya narrowed his eyes, thinking quickly. He'd heard rumors about a situation like this a long time ago when he was traveling in the far north-west. A human turned immortal, a dead man walking the earth with abilities no normal man could have, not even a ninja... It clicked as he remembered what they had called such a creature. “Vampire...” he muttered, almost to himself.
Kakashi was at a loss of what to do. A student of his had given up his life - in a strange fashion - and come back more powerful than ever. It went against everything he'd learned in life...
“Yes. Vampire," Sasuke responded to Jiraiya's murmur as if it had been spoken at normal conversational volume. "The so-called "Gift of Eternal Life" was given to me by my Maker about two years ago. I could not find the power to defeat my brother any other way. You” and he meant of them, “Of all people should know what a powerful enemy Itachi is...” He didn't need their condemnation or approval. He wanted only two things, the death of his brother and the free life he would lead when the nightmarish memories of his family and clan stopped haunting him.
