A/N: I would once again like to thank everyone who reviewed. Knowing that you appreciate my work enough to tell me leaves me with this warm, fuzzy feeling in my chest. My very manly chest. Disclaimer: I do not own Sekirei or Naruto. The only thing I own is my awesome ass computer complete with two over-clocked ATI graphics cards, a liquid cooling unit and completely pimped out Star Wars covering. It's my totally bad ass computer where I write my fanfiction.
Chapter 4: The Rescue
XoX It was later in the evening and the sun was beginning to set. Naruto and Akitsu had gone back home and gotten Musubi, informing her of the situation with the Sekirei that had reacted to Naruto, as well as their plan to rescue her that night. Their schedule had to be shortened, however, when Naruto had received a text message claiming that the 'green girl' was in the Arboretum and that anyone who got to her first would win. The message had been sent by Hiroto Minaka, obviously, especially when considering the fact that he had even signed his name. It was also just as obvious that Naruto was in all likelihood not the only person to receive this text. More then likely every Ashikabi in the Sekirei Plan had received it, and now knew that Kusano was in the Arboretum. No doubt this was Minaka's attempt to amuse himself further. It was just one more thing about the man that pissed Naruto off. It also meant they would need to move much more quickly then Naruto had desired. It had been his hope that they would be able to use the cover of darkness to disguise their movements, as well as disguise his abilities if it became a necessity to use his jutsu. He did not know much about MBI's surveillance systems, but at the very least he had been hoping it would be dark enough that no one would be able to see him well enough to identify him. That way if he used his jutsu they would mistake him for a Sekirei. Surrounding the Botanical Garden were dozens of MBI soldiers and several armored ATVs. As far as Naruto could see they were blocking off all possible entrances into the Arboretum, meaning anyone who wanted to get to the green girl would have to go through them. This had most likely been Minaka's plan all along, the blond figured. Even though he had not spoken to the man since he first winged Musubi, he was learning more about the President of MBI through word of mouth. It would be just like that man to send out a message to all of the Ashikabi in Japan and tell them about the Sekirei hiding in the Arboretum, along with making it a challenge and then sending several dozen if not a hundred armed soldiers to make things more difficult for those trying to get in. Yes, it was just like that sick man to do this for his own entertainment. Naruto had changed his look from what he had been wearing during the day for this mission. Now he was wearing a pair of pants that were tight around his waist but flared out the farther they went down, allowing him more range of movement. Strapped across his outer thighs were two pouches that were carrying smoke bombs, flash bangs, explosive notes, kunai, shuriken and ninja wire. The shirt he had on was black with long sleeves and a built-in face mask that hid the lower half of his face from view as well as a hood that was currently put up, covering his hair so it would be harder for anyone to recognize him. A pair of black fingerless gloves were being worn on his hands. Strapped across his forearms and ankles were metal protectors with a dull black finish, and his outfit was finished by a pair of black shinobi sandals he had custom made from a retailer in France and a pair of kodachi strapped across his back, forming an X pattern. All in all Naruto looked like someone who was planning on storming a fortress. 'How many thousands of years has it been since I've worn these clothes,' he wondered to himself. 'While I've always kept my ninja outfits I don't think I've worn anything of this style since the Fourth Great Shinobi War. I'm actually beginning to feel a little nostalgic.' Of course, that nostalgia also brought with it an acute pain to his chest. He never liked thinking about his past, the deep sense of pain and loss it brought to him. And had done his best to forget about it. However, because he had also refused to form bonds with anybody else, knowing that they would just die and he would once again be alone, it was almost impossible for him not to think about the past. It was unfortunate, but because of his inability - or his desire not to get close to anyone - the past was truly all he had, and while he didn't let it stop him from living, his inability to move on made it so that he was never truly alive. It was also for this reason that he had not turned away Musubi after he had winged her. When he was with her and Akitsu, the visions that haunted him, his nightmares of the past and his failure to protect the things that had been important to him, were almost non-existent. It was his hope that things would stay that way and maybe, just maybe he would truly be able to move on and find something worth cherishing, something worth protecting. Shaking his head Naruto looked over at the two girls with him. "Alright, let's go over the plan one more time. Akitsu-chan, your going to start things off by freezing the vehicles and people down there, also, it will be up to you to keep any Ashikabi who come for Ku-chan out of the Arboretum for as long as possible once Musubi-chan and I get inside." When Akitsu nodded, he smiled and said, "and remember, try not to kill anyone if at all possible. I don't want any unnecessary violence if it can be helped." He had made it a point of reminding the two that he did not approve of senseless killing, even violence was abhorred by him. The blond had long since come to hate fighting – spars were different as there was no maliciousness in a spar – thanks to his past. However, he was not stupid, he knew that sometimes fights were inevitable and when such was the case, it was best to end the battle as quickly and with as little bloodshed as possible. "Meanwhile, Musubi-chan and I will go into the forest and search for Ku-chan. Because she's a fist type, Musubi-chan is better suited for the closed in spaces of the Arboretum. If all goes well we should be in and out of there in less then an hour. Now, are you both ready?" "I'm ready, Naruto-Sama!" Musubi said with a cheer. "...Me too," Akitsu added. "Then start us off Akitsu-chan." Akitsu did as told, raising her hands towards the collection of people and vehicles down by the front gates of the Arboretum. For several seconds it looked as if nothing had happened, there was no great change, no phenomenal difference to be discerned. For all intents and purposes everything seemed as normal as normal could be. Then it happened, almost at random, several hundred shards of ice rained down from the sky. Appearing out of no where as they were formed seemingly out of thin air, striking in what looked like a random pattern with no discernible rhyme or reason for their selection of targets. However, for those who were watching from above, they were easily able to notice that each and every shard of ice struck with purpose and intent. The ice shards that rained down on the hapless soldiers only ever hit the vehicles, piercing them with pinpoint precision. They penetrated the hull, punching through and striking at the components necessary for the vehicle to function; fuel valves, fuel injector, radiator, the wheels. Every part of a vehicle that was important to the propulsion of said vehicle was struck by the frozen shards. Then to add even more damage, the areas the shards hit began to freeze as well. It would be impossible to repair those vehicles any time soon. The chaos caused by the ice shards was substantial. The soldiers who had been patrolling the area, speaking with their comrades, or just standing around looking board were now running in every direction as they tried to escape the circumference the attack was taking place in. It was in this moment of pandemonium that Naruto and Musubi came in. The two jumped off the roof they had been standing on, leaving Akitsu behind until they had finished their task. Naruto twisted and rotated his body in mid air, twirling around like a professional acrobat. His body turned, feet pointed down as he let gravity take him and landed on the ground feet first, his knees bending, not to act as a cushion for the blow, but to use the inherent momentum created from the impact to push himself into a sprint. His body exploded into motion, actually gouging a chunk out of the earth as his entire form seemed to become nothing more then a blur. Unlike Naruto, who had all of the grace and instinct that was born from his ninja training, Musubi simply jumped straight into the air, not bothering to flip or twist her body as she plummeted to the ground. Her feet hit the pavement, indenting it and creating several cracks on the pavement she landed on before rushing into the mass of running soldiers. The pair weren't even noticed until Naruto made his appearance, his form appearing in a blur, wavering like a ghost before becoming solid right in front of one of the soldiers. The man didn't even have time to open his mouth for a scream, much less make any sound as the blond hit him in the chest with a double palm. Naruto had kept the majority of his strength in check, so rather then make the man's entire chest cave in like someone had dropped and anvil on it, he was merely sent flying backwards. It was the loud whoosh, followed the cracking noise of the soldier hitting one of the ATVs hard enough to leave an indent in it that caused everyone in the vicinity to notice them. Not that it would do any good. Even as the M.B.I. soldiers began to train their weapons on the pair, Naruto was already on the move. His form blurring as he rushed through a throng of armored men. The blond's fists were a literal blur as he dispatched each and every person in his path with a single attack, the strength of which was always enough to send which ever soldier he hit flying backwards, unconscious before they hit the ground. Along his side was Musubi, who while not as graceful or agile as the blond was, more then made up for it with her insane strength. Her fist quickly smashed itself into the face of one of the soldiers, a large resounding crack as the man's nose was shattered following seconds before he was sent flying backwards. The soldier hit the ground with earth shattering force, his body rolling and tumbling nearly fifteen feet along the roadside before coming to a stop thanks to a lamp post that he hit, which indented and bent at the point of impact thanks to Musubi's strength. Undeterred and uncaring about the blood that now covered her gloved fist, she lashed out at her next victim. Hitting a man who had tried getting the drop on her from behind with a back hand blow that shattered his jaw and sent him to the ground with a scream. The sound of clicking alerted her attention to someone having their gun trained on her. Out of instinct her body forced itself into a sprint, avoiding the barrage of bullets before she spun her body and closed the distance with the man attacking her. It was through a swift combination of punches to the torso, followed up with a powerful upper cut with enough force to sent the man sailing through the air that finished the soldier off. There was a lull in her fighting and for the first time since the combat had started, Musubi got to see Naruto in a battle. "Oh wow..." she muttered to herself as she watched the blond dodge the bullets from a machine gun by rolling forward. He ended up rolling under the legs of one man, right into the middle of a throng of people. Then he pushed himself up and, in a show of incredible arm and upper body strength Naruto defied gravity for several seconds as he used his arms to hold himself parallel with ground. Before completing his push into a fully formed hand stand. His legs latched themselves around the waist of the man he had gone under, taking that man with him as the lower half of his body was launched into the air. The soldier screamed as he was used as a hammer to pile drive another of his comrades into the ground, his head smacking into the other guys armored breastplate. Both of them were sent crashing into the pavement, but the blond wasn't even finished by a long shot. Still standing on his hands the blonds feet lashed out at the other soldiers around him, first kicking their guns out of their hands, then smashing them in the stomach with what had to be incredibly painful kicks. As the group of soldiers doubled over, the blond began to twirl, spinning his body around with his hands as his feet split apart nearly one hundred and eighty degrees, his legs forming a T shape in conjunction with his body. Naruto's enemies all received a heel to face, each blow hitting them in either the neck, or the temple, knocking each and every one of them out cold as they were sent sailing. By the time the blond Ashikabi was finished, none of the half a dozen or so enemies were in any condition to even talk, much less battle. The entire attack her Ashikabi had launched only lasted somewhere on the average of ten of fifteen seconds. So quickly that only a fist or weapons type Sekirei would have been able to keep up. Even then, Musubi couldn't be sure she would have been capable of accomplishing what Naruto had. It was an awe inspiring sight and made her realize just how lucky she was in choosing the whiskered blond as her Ashikabi. 'An Ashikabi who can and will fight for and alongside his Sekirei. Someone who would gladly fight for for me and Akitsu-chan. Naruto-Sama, I hope to one day prove myself worthy of being your Sekirei,' Musubi thought to herself, her already high level of awe and respect for the blond going up several notches. However, the momentary peace was over as the sound of a gun clicking was heard. Musubi rolled along the ground just in time to avoid another salvo of gun fire. Kipping to her feet she spun her body along an axis before finding the source of her troubles. Three soldiers who had decided to train their sights on her, likely due to the fact that Naruto had once again found himself in the middle of a large horde of soldiers. Well, she could deal with this. Rushing them, Musubi used her immense leg strength to speed herself past the point that most humans would be capable of following her. To them they would only see her form as a blur, with several after images following in her wake. It would be impossible for them to even see the real her, much less actually manage to shoot her. Her first attack was aimed at the man in the middle of the formation. Her fist shot out, a straight jab that caught the man in the gut. There was a loud thump as her fist made contact with the soldier, followed quickly by the sound of whooshing air as the man lost his breath before coughing up blood. The man doubled over the fist she had implanted into his gut for all of one seconds, before being launched backwards, landing on his back several feet away. He was out like a light before his body hit the ground. These attacks were quickly followed up with a left hook to the face of the man on her right. Unable to follow her when she had first moved, the soldier was completely unprepared for Musubi's attack. The fist plowed into his face, the entire right side of it indenting itself and pushing into the other side of his face, giving the man an almost comical look as his cheek became displaced from the hit. That look only lasted a second as her fist pushed against the man, causing his head, soon followed by his body, to fly into the air. He spun around quickly, his body parallel to the ground as he did so, making him look like a human drill. Right before he hit the road face first, his body following and sprawling against itself, twitching from the pain. By this time the last soldier left standing had noticed her presence, and couldn't help but feel fear, which was easily seen in his eyes. His legs tensed as he prepared to run away from this... this thing that was disguising itself as a beautiful woman. But before he could take even one step, Musubi spun around on her left leg, her right hand lashing out in a backhand that caught the man flush in the face. There was a loud crack as the soldier was sent sprawling into the ground, his mind blacking out as his face ate the dirt. It was with a start that Musubi realized she had just finished off the last opponent in the area. Looking around she saw all of the men that she and Naruto had fought sprawled along the ground, some moaning in pain, others were sunk into such deep levels of unconsciousness that the pain of their injuries couldn't even reach them. She looked over at Naruto who was dusting himself off. 'It's been a long time since I've been in a battle of any kind,' the blond thought to himself as he looked around at the devastation he and Musubi had caused. 'And even to this day I can still say with one hundred percent honesty that I hate fighting. It's unfortunate that there is no way to avoid this, not without leaving that poor girl to her fate, and that is simply something I can not do.' He felt Musubi's eyes on him and looked over at her. She was staring at him with stars in her eyes, and though the blond had a good idea of why, he just had to ask anyways. "Is there something wrong, Musubi-chan?" "Naruto-Sama... that was, so COOL," Musubi squealed out the last word before getting right up in his face. Were it not for the fact that Naruto was growing used to swapping saliva with her, he might have actually been uncomfortable at just how close she was to him. Not that she was paying attention as she continued praising his skills in fighting. "I had no idea you were so strong! The way you beat those guys like they were nothing! You just pounded them into the ground!" "Yeah well, I've always been good at fighting," Naruto said with a frown. "To be honest, it's not a skill I'm particularly proud of." "What? Why not?" asked Musubi, confused and curious. How could he not be proud of the skills he showed? "Because I dislike senseless violence," he said, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "I told you before but the only reason I will ever fight is when I have something precious to protect." "Ah, you said something like that before," Musubi said, the look on her face akin to a light turning on in her head. "I remember!" "I'm glad, because that's something I want you to keep in your mind forever," Naruto said. "The only time fighting is in any way justified is when you are protecting something important to you. It is only when you are doing that, that you will come to learn the meaning of true strength." Musubi's face gained a thoughtful expression. "True... strength..." "That goes for you too, Akitsu-chan," Naruto said as he looked at the ice user who had just arrived at their position. Akitsu merely nodded, acknowledging his words and that she would do her utmost to follow them. "Now then, the guards are taken care of so Musubi-chan and I will be going into the Arboretum. Akitsu-chan, do your best to make sure no one else comes in here during that time. Ok?" "Yes, Ahikabi-Sama, I will not fail you," Akitsu said gravely. Naruto smiled at her. "I know you won't. I have faith in you." His words made Akitsu blush prettily. "Alright, let's go!" Naruto said and he and Musubi quickly ran towards the gate. The pair both launched attacks at the closed gate, a fist from Musubi and a flying heel kick from Naruto. Unable to stand up to the combined assault the gate blown back, having been literally knocked off it's hinges. Unknown to the pair running into the Garden and the Sekirei who made to guard the gate, several different groups were watching them. XoX Homura, dressed in his long trench coat and black mask watched on as Naruto and Musubi made their way inside of the Arboretum. "Haa... It looks like a might not be needed for this after all." While he still didn't trust the blond, he couldn't deny the man didn't seem to hold anything but good intentions. Crossing his arms, Homura decided to stay and watch the proceeding events. Hopefully, he would be able to rescue Kusano before anyone else got to her. XoX "Man, did you see that?" asked a lean, brown-haired man of average height with a gruff, wild look to him. He looked fairly average, with clothing that consisted of a white undershirt with a pair of jeans. Were it not for the two at his side, most would think of him as nothing more then a lazy man without a yen to his name. With him were Hikari and Hibiki, the two lightning using twins who were back in their dominatrix outfits. "Yes, Seo, we did see it," Hibiki said. Though she kept her voice as nonchalant as possible, she was actually shocked by what she had seen. "Man that kid in the strange clothes kicked those peoples asses!" Seo said, pounding his right fist into the palm of his left hand. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone kick ass quite like that!" "And he was with that girl we weren't able to defeat," Hikari narrowed her eyes as she spoke. "Does that mean he's the blond boy who managed to escape us?" "It does seem likely," the other sister said. "So what should we do now?" "I say we go in there and see if we can't find this green girl ourselves!" Seo said. The two girls growled as they sent lightning at the man, shocking him so much his skin blackened before they stopped and he felt to the floor, twitching violently. "No body asked you!" XoX "Well, well, well, that was an interesting display. It looks like we're not the first ones here," said a slim teenager of average height with brown hair. He was wearing clothing that exuded an aura of wealth and arrogance, a long sleeve white shirt with gold edgings and a pair of spotless white pants with crisp creases. He held the look of a typical spoiled rich kid. "It looks like getting the green girl will be more of a challenge then I thought." He looked over at the three Sekirei he had brought with him. "I trust you three will be able to handle this?" "Of course." XoX "It's so hard to see anything in this forest," Musubi complained as she and Naruto walked around the what was more or less a sea of green. Everywhere they looked there was nothing but plants and large trees, and almost all of them looked the same making it nearly impossible to figure out if they were going the right way. This was made even harder by the simple fact that neither of them actually knew where they were going. "It is rather difficult," Naruto admitted reluctantly, his eyes still scanning the many trees as he looked for something that might be intrinsic to what he had seen in his dream. "And unfortunately I can't track her signature thanks to all these trees." Because all of the foliage in the area was made by Kusano, everything had her chakra (for the sake of not getting confused Naruto decided to call Sekirei energy chakra) signature on it. To make matters worse it was all spread out evenly, much like his kage bunshin, so even if he was using Sennin Mōdo it would not be possible for him to find her within the maze of trees. Thankfully, they received a helpful hint when an apparition of the young girl they were searching for appeared before them in a green flash of light. The figure pointed off into the distance some ways off to her left. Naruto looked over there before looking back at her. "You're over there somewhere? Is that what your telling me?" he asked, getting a nod and a smile from the girl. She disappeared a second later and Naruto looked over at Musubi. "Did you see her too?" he asked. "See who?" asked Musubi, blinking as she stuck a finger to her mouth in a pose of curiosity that made her look undeniably cute. "I see, only an Ashikabi can see her," Naruto muttered, causing his Sekirei to tilt her head in confusion. He ignored the girls mystification however, as he continued moving. "Come on, Musubic-chan. Ku-chan is somewhere over here." "A-ah right!" XoX Akitsu watched as Musubi and Naruto disappeared inside of the forest. Now that the first part of the job was done, aka taking out the MBI soldiers and allowing Naruto and Musubi to enter the forest, it was time for the second phase of her job. Ensuring that no one managed to enter the Arboretum while her Ashikabi and Musubi were inside. Her sleepy-looking gaze moved away from the Arboretum to look at the surrounding streets and buildings. Despite her face not shifting emotions, Akitsu's mind was on high alert as she watched the city block she was in. This was the first task her Ashikabi had given her, and she didn't want to fail. She did not think Naruto would throw her out - she could feel the sincerity in his emotions when he told her he would not abandon her - but that just made this more important. Naruto, the person who had given her a purpose and become her Ashikabi needed her. And she was not going to fail him. Just then her instincts flared into existence. Akitsu jumped back just in time to dodge the whip that came at her. As it struck the ground the concrete cracked and broke, sending a cloud of debris and dust all over the place. It was barely even a moment later that the light-haired Sekirei was forced to move again as several chords came at her, making a relentless attempt to capture her. In retaliation she launched a sheet of ice shards at the woman they were attached too. "Heh, you react pretty fast girly," said one of the Sekirei that had attacked her. Long blond hair. She was wearing black stockings, a black Chinese styled dress with one yellow vertical stripe in the middle of it. "But don't think that means anything in the long run." "You will not get past me," Akitsu said in a plain voice. The entire area around the woman was quickly covered in ice, which soon began to spread out at an unbelievable pace. Shooting out of the sheet that moved along the ground were ice spikes that were set to pierce the woman with the whip. However, the girl proved to be nimble, moving into a series of back flips before she jumped up the wall. Akitsu was just preparing to launch a hail of ice shards when she was forced to dodge more chords from the other woman. "Hold still you!" she shouted. This particular Sekirei looked very similar to the one using the whip. She had long blond hair. Her outfit consisted of black stockings, a black western styled dress with one yellow vertical stripe in the middle of it. The two could have been twins they looked so similar to each other. "There's no way your going to be able to get away from the two of us." Akitsu didn't respond as she sent a hail of ice towards the woman who began back pedaling in an effort to get away from the ice before dodging to the left. As the sleet of ice blew past the woman once more sent her chords towards the light-haired Sekirei. These chords were soon blocked when a large block of ice shot up from the ground in front of them, forcing the many silvery strands to wrap around the ice and not the Akitsu. "What the –" shouted the girl as she yanked on her chords to no avail. They were stuck. It was during this time that the woman wielding the whip used the moment as a distraction and tried to hit Akitsu from behind. It was not to be however, as another pillar of ice sprouted from the ground and blocked her attack. Though it didn't truly block the attack, as the ice being used was much weaker then normal due to Akitsu not having enough time to harden it. Instead, when the whip hit the ice cracked and shattered, sending shards in every direction. However, this was all done by design. The moment the ice pillar was shattered the many hundreds of shards that had gone flying all stopped. They quivered for a moment, as if held by an invisible force. That soon stopped when all of them pointed at the whip wielding Sekirei, and launched themselves not a second sooner. "Damn it!" she growled as her whip was forced to flash out in constant intricate patterns, destroying ice shards before they got too close. However, the number of spiky tips of ice being shot her way were in legion, and far too many for her to hit with simply swinging her whip. Having realized this, the woman began spinning, like a tornado as her body began a blur and her whip lashed out an uncountable number of times. The maneuver she used had the effect of creating a barrier around her that none of the ice shards could get through. However, there were so many of them raining down on her that it was bound to hold her up for a little while. By this time the one with the chords had managed to free her weapons. She then launched them at Akitsu in the hopes of catching her off guard. It was not to be as a pillar of ice sprang out to intercept the attack, however, the chords simply changed direction, avoiding the ice and continuing on it's path towards the light-haired Sekirei. "The same trick won't work on me twice!" This did not seem to deter the ice user as more and more pillars sprang up in the hopes of trapping the chords. By now, however, it seemed as if the wielder of the chords had figured out her pattern, for they did an excellent job of avoiding her defensive assault. They soon reached Akitsu, lashing out in their attempt to grab the woman. However, by this time all Akitsu had to do was jump away, landing on one of her ice pillars before moving to another, then another. Eventually the many chords being sent towards the light-haired Sekirei seemed to reach their limit, snapping taught as they were unable to move forward. That did not mean Akitsu was safe from harm however, a fact which was proven true when a whip cracked at a pillar she had been standing on just a few seconds prior. The ice was shattered, exploding in small shards of ice. Thankfully, by the time the whip had struck Akitsu had already left that position. She had even more to be grateful for as the ice shards that were thrown every which way in a half hazard manner thanks to the whip wielding Sekirei were able to be controlled by her. With naught but a thought the ice that had been blasted in all directions began to swerve, changing direction in mid flight before going after the two girls. "Damn! This girls pretty good," said the whip wielder, gritting her teeth in anger at not being able to take one woman down. They had attacked with the woman without warning, hoping to take her by surprise and take her down easily. But it seemed this lady had more bight to her bark then they initially thought. "She's fighting against us two on one and we still haven't hit her once yet." "Maybe we should try changing tactics," suggested the chord user. "She's a simple type with the ability to control ice. So long as we keep her from using her powers and keep her off guard, we should be able to beat her." The two seemed to find the plan agreeable as they both charged towards the ice user, readying their respective weapons as they prepared to attack Akitsu simultaneously. It wasn't to be. While for most of the battle it might have seemed as if Akitsu had been on the defensive for most of the time, and in some cases that was true. The real truth of the matter was that she allowed herself to be on the defensive in order to learn more about her foes, and eventually find a way to trap them. And now she had her chance. As the two other Sekirei began moving in to attack her, Akitsu launched several shards of ice at them. They were dodged with relative ease, but that was fine with her, she was just using the ice to make them go where she wanted them to, directing the way they dodged so they would come ever closer to her trap. This eventually happened when the pair landed on a sleet of ice that had been covering the ground inconspicuously. The next moment when they tried to move the two of them found themselves unable to. "What the –!" Looking down the pair saw ice crawling up their legs at a fast rate, much more quickly then either of them would have expected. "Damn it, what is this!" "I was waiting for you two to land their so I could spring my trap," Akitsu said plainly. She pointed at their feet. "That ice is being powered by me... when you stepped in it... you fell into my trap..." She wasn't really much for explaining things, but felt they at least deserved an answer. It wasn't like they could do anything now anyways, what with the fact that the ice was now covering them up to their neck. "U-Ugh... d-damn you... so cold," muttered the one who had been using the whip. "You two should consider yourselves... lucky..." Akitsu said. "Ashikabi-Sama told us to resolve our fights using as little violence as possible... had he not, I would have deactivated you both by now." The two gulped, both unsure whether they should be relieved they wouldn't be deactivated, or shamed that they were beaten and now stuck in ice. None of them noticed the figure that slipped past the group at some point during the battle. XoX Naruto narrowed his eyes as he and Musubi continued searching. They had been walking for a little over half an hour now and he could tell they were getting close. He wasn't sure how but he knew they were going in the right direction. "Hey, Naruto-Sama?" asked Musubi, gaining the blonds attention as they walked. "Do you know how much farther it is until we find the girl you're looking for? We've been walking for a long time, and all these trees look the same so I can't tell where we are." "It's not much further I think," he assured her, his eyes constantly scanning the foliage for any sign of threats. He cursed the fact that all of this nature hampered his senses, especially since it wasn't natural so he wouldn't be able to gather nature energy from it to act as his passive sonar. The blond looked back over at Musubi and continued his explanation. "I don't know how but I can feel her getting close. She's just up ahead a little ways." "Then let's go!" Musubi said, grabbing Naruto's hand and moving into a run. The blond stumbled for a moment at the unexpected burst of speed, but easily righted himself and kept pace. They didn't have to run very far before the blond felt they were in the center of the Arboretum. At least he assumed it was the center. The trees were a lot thicker and there was a large knothole of trees combining their branches together to form what could more or less be described as a living cave. As they walked into the small tunnel, a voice that had become familiar to Naruto in the past few days called out. "H-Hello?" Naruto blinked as the soft voice resonated in his ears. Then he called out, "Ku-chan?" Upon hearing her name being called, Sekirei number one-hundred and eight, Kusano, looked out from the small spot she was hiding. Upon seeing Naruto standing there, her eyes widened. "Onii-chan?" she asked, carefully moving closer towards him. "Is that you, Onii-chan?" Naruto scratched the back of his head at being called Oniichan, he hadn't been called that since little Hanabi had taken a liking to him and gained a rivalry with Konohamaru. It was a bit embarrassing to say the least. "Yeah, it's me," he said, grinning in that fox-like way that Naruto was wont to do. He crouched down and beckoned for Kusano to come over to him. "Come here, Ku-chan. Onii-chan's here now." The girls eyes widened and a smile lit her face at those words. "Onii-chan!" she cried as she began to run forward. However, it was in that moment that Naruto's danger sense went haywire. Acting with a speed that was bred from years of training, the blond pushed Musubi out of the way, then jumped away himself just in time to miss being split in half by a scythe. Moving himself in a series of back flips and whirls the last shinobi of Konoha spun in mid air, simultaneously reaching into his pouch and pulling out several shuriken. He flung them all at the figure who had attempted to slice him and his Sekirei in two, and was surprised when the person yelled out and released a blast of what looked like a vacuum wind from her scythe that blast his shuriken away. Landing on all fours in an animalistic crouch, Naruto finally got a good look at his attacker. His attacker was a woman, with long brown hair that was tied together in the back by a black ribbon and brown eyes. She was wearing a black and white dress with puffed out sleeves and a length that reached her mid thigh. Her legs were covered in a pair of black stockings and high heeled shoes. Her outfit was finished by a pair of black gloves and the large scythe she was wielding. "Heh, you've got some fast reflexes for a human," she commented with a smirk. There was an arrogant look on her face, one he had seen on people like Orochimaru and Kabuto before. At least she didn't have the 'oh my I've found a little boy to play with' look that they had, otherwise he would have been worried. "So I've been told," Naruto replied with the kind of nonchalant tone that made it sound like he was discussing the weather and not about to fight someone wielding a weapon as tall as he was. He moved in front of Kusano, protecting her as he eyed the woman in front of him. "You know, it's rude to attack someone without introducing yourself first." "Hmph, not like it matters since your going to die, but my I'm Sekirei number forty-three, Yomi. Now, my master has had his eyes on this Sekirei for some time." She pointed at Kusano who tried to hide herself behind a tree root. "So it's time for you to say good bye!" The woman was shouting by the end as she charged at Naruto who remained still as she rushed towards him. Yomi swung her scythe at him in a sweeping arch that would have impaled him through the head if it had hit. If being the key word. While Naruto would have never let the scythe actually get close enough to cut him, he needn't even have to worry about moving. This was because as soon as the scythe came swinging at him, his own Sekirei, Musubi, was already standing in front of him. She caught the scythe in between her hands, her immense physical strength making it impossible for the other woman to even move the massive weapon more then a millimeter. "W-What! Hey, let go of my scythe you bitch!" shouted Yomi as she tried with all her might to remove her scythe from Musubi's grasp. Naruto could actually see the Sekirei's muscles twitching and straining as she attempted to pull it free. However, Musubi's grip was far to strong and no matter how hard she tried, Yomi just could not remove her weapon from the other Sekirei's grasp. "This things sharp," Musubi countered with a look of admonishment on her face. "It's too dangerous to have around. So let's fix that. Ok?" Then without any form of fanfare, she snapped the scythes blade like a twig. "Ah! You just broke my precious death scythe you witch!" Yomi cried in shocked outrage. While the girl cried over her now broken scythe, Naruto turned to Kusano and knelt down. "Are you ok, Ku-chan?" he asked, placing a hand on her shoulders. "Onii-chan I... help me..." she muttered before collapsing into his arms. "She must be exhausted," Naruto said to himself. The girl had likely passed out from a combination of exhaustion, fear and an overuse of her powers. She was young, couldn't be more then maybe nine or ten, possibly even younger then that. And while Naruto would not claim to know much about Sekirei physiology, he felt it was safe to assume that someone so young might not have full control over her own powers. He carefully scooped her up into his arms and stood. "Aw! She's so cute!" Musubi said, looking over his shoulder at the now sleeping girl. Naruto might have said something to his companion, but whatever that possible retort might have been was lost by the angry and nearly apoplectic sounding scream from Yomi. "You stupid bitch! I'm gonna kill you for ruining my scythe!" she screamed, swinging her scythe at the pair of them. Despite the weapon being broken a large blast of wind was launched at the two. They were both forced to leap out of the way, Naruto with Kusano in his arms ended up jumping the opposite way from Musubi, who Yomi attacked once again. "Take this!" she sent another powerful blast of wind at the large chested Sekirei, hitting her straight on. Musubi gasped as the top half of her clothes were ripped apart. Yomi smirked as she laughed at the other woman being exposed. "Hahahaha! That's a good look for you! However, I only seem to have taken off a small section of your clothing. Don't worry though, this small oversight will be corrected soon!" Swinging her scythe around, Yomi sent a wind blast towards Musubi, who rolled to the left to avoid it, then jumped over the next attack. Dodging each attack sent her way the large chested Sekirei managed to get in close. When Yomi sent her scythe out at Musubi again in an attempt to slice her up with another vacuum attack, she jumped up, grabbed onto the weapon, and using it for extra leverage managed to pull herself into a kick that knocked Yomi upside the head. "Gah!" Yomi cried out as she stumbled back several steps. There was an angry red mark where Musubi's foot had smashed into her. Naruto was only slightly surprised that the attack had not done as much damage as it had to the soldiers outside, but chalked it up to this woman being a Sekirei and therefore much stronger then the average human. "Damn you! Damn you! Damn you!" In her anger she began sending more and more wind blasts at Musubi, hoping one of them would strike. However, the younger Sekirei managed to dodge each and every one of them, rolling, twirling, flipping and jumping about like an acrobat. It was beginning to piss Yomi off. "You think jumping around like that is going to help you! Take this!" With another large swing of her scythe another blast of wind was sent Musubi's way. In an attempt to create several combinations, Yomi spun her weapon through a series of intricate patterns, launching several blasts of wind at Naruto's Sekirei. From up close it would look like the woman was just launching attacks without rhyme or reason, however, when taken in from the perspective of an outsider to the battle it would be clear for anyone to see that Yomi was actually placing her wind attacks in such a way that it would be impossible for Musubi to dodge one without getting hit by another. She was in essence boxing the other Sekirei in. These hypothetical observations proved to be true in the next few seconds after the series of wind attacks were launched. The first two that came in were located slightly apart from each other, about a one foot distance between them being in a straight line. Musubi dodged the first one, moving to the left and almost ran into the second one. Only instinct had saved her, making her roll to the side just as the attack passed and crashed into the wood behind her. However, those were not the only attacks she had to worry about. Six more had been launched in quick succession mere seconds after the three Musubi had just finished dodging passed the short-haired Sekirei by. Each one was just slightly out of place with the other and finely timed with the fist type Sekirei's reaction time and movements already in mind. The first blast of wind came straight at her, forcing Musubi to roll left as was her instinctive reaction. This caused her to run face first into the second attack, and it was only thanks to her lightning quick reflexes that she was able to dodge the attack, cartwheeling out of the way. However, her maneuver once again took her straight into an attack and once again only her instincts saved her. She managed to avoid that attack and even jumped over the next one that came her way, and it was then that she ran into the problem. The last attack, carefully timed and positioned in the air where Yomi predicted Musubi would end up in the end smacked said Sekirei straight on. The attack ripped through the rest of her outfit, leaving Musubi in nothing more but her panties. The large chested brunette let out a shout of pain as the powerful blast of wind also sent her sailing back through the air. With a grunt of pain Musubi smashed into the wooden walls of the many trees that made up the tunnel, sliding down to the floor a second later. "Oh my it looks like I missed something!" Yomi said with a blush on her face as she hugged her scythe to her chest. She was shaking in a way that said she was enjoying the sight of Musubi's nearly naked body far more then she probably should. It was becoming somewhat clear that this girl was something of a pervert, and the grin on her face did nothing to lessen that belief. With something of a lecherous look on her face she continued. "You still have one piece of clothing left. That's an oversight I intend to correct. By removing it and your head at the same time!" 'Now's my chance!' Musubi thought as Yomi swung her scythe and released a giant blast of wind at full power. Acting without hesitation, Musubi jumped up and over the attack, the power she had placed in her jump helping her reach the ceiling. She flipped herself around so that when she touched the ceiling it was with her feet, then pushed off, aiming right at Yomi. The other woman had no time to react as Musubi launched a kick that hit her in the face. The scythe wielding Sekirei stumbled backwards from the hit with a cry of outrage. Flipping around the fist type Sekirei bent low to the ground, launching a heel kick that forced Yomi to double over. As a finisher Musubi jumped, flipping over the woman who was trying to regain her breath. Her hand lashed out, grabbing onto the back of Yomi's clothes and ripping them off as she landed. Her opponent gasped and attempted to cover herself as best she could, while Musubi placed a single finger on her Sekirei crescent mark. "By the fists of my contract, let the perils before my Ashikabi be shattered!" Musubi pronounced in a clear voice. The Sekirei mark on her opponents back began to glow before disappearing entirely. Yomi fell onto her front, tears in her eyes as she felt the world around her growing dark. "I-I can't believe I lost... Mikogami..." As her eyes closed for the final time Naruto walked over to Musubi with Kusano still in his arms. "Are you ok?" he asked. Musubi looked over at him with a cheerful smile. "I'm fine! Great in fact! Now that I've won my first battle I feel like I can take on the world!" Naruto smiled, he didn't like fighting, in fact it would be accurate to say he despised fighting more then anything else. But he was also very proud of how Musubi handled the fight, and would never deny her this victory. "You did an excellent job, Musubi-chan," he said. Leaning in he gave her a kiss on the cheek, not just showing affection on the outside but using the bond he shared with her to promote the feelings of pride he had for her through that. "I am so proud of you." Musubi's entire body flushed and radiated happiness. Were it not for Kusano being held in his arms, there was no doubt she would have pulled her Ashikabi into the worlds largest and most bone crushing hug. The kind of which none of the women Naruto had known in the elemental nations would have been capable of competing with. Not even Tsunade. As it was, Kusano was in his arms, and so she settled for giving him the most cheerful smile anyone had ever seen. So bright was it, that it seemed to literally light up the entire area with it's radience. "Thank you, Naruto-Sama. Hearing you say that means so much to me, words alone can never express just how happy I am to hear you say that." A chuckle escaped Naruto's lips before his ears picked up the sound of helicopters. Looking up he saw several M.B.I. choppers flying around the Arboretum. "I wonder, are they coming for us due to what we did to their men outside?" "No, their coming for the scythe girl," Musubi said, bringing his attention from the sky to her. When their eyes connected she continued, saying, "you see, when a Sekirei loses their crest they can no longer be with their Ashikabi." "I see..." Naruto frowned as he looked at the downed girl. The more he learned about the Sekirei Plan the more he began to hate it. The thought of someone taking people who had bonded on such a deep level away from each other for their own sick amusement was disgusting on so many levels that his entire body seemed to rebel against the very idea of something like that happening. Worse still it made him think about his own situation. If either Musubi or Akitsu lost they would be taken away from him, and he would never get to see them again. 'That's not going to happen,' he thought determinedly. It was in that moment that Naruto made himself a promise. No matter what happened he would continue protecting the two that had bonded to him, even if it cost him what was left of his humanity. And he would destroy the Sekirei plan, even if he had to show everyone what a true monster was to do so. XoX Akitsu was forced to jump back as another sword slash came her way. She put up a block of ice in the hopes that it would slow the weapon down but it was all for naught as the blade tore through her ice-wall defense like paper. Thankfully, while the ice did not slow the attack down, she had already been out of the swords reach and had merely hoped the ice wall would have let her use a counter attack. She took a small moment to swear in her head, even though her face remained as impassive as always. Things had been going well for her until just a few minutes ago. She had been guarding the two Sekirei she had frozen with her ice when a man had come and freed them, right before attacking her. The man she was facing was tall, easily a head taller then her and likely around Naruto's height if not a tad taller. He had light hair and gray eyes, and was wearing a long sleeve black shirt with bands around his biceps. The shirt was open at the front, showing off his muscles and the crisscrossing straps that ran along his chest and stomach. A loose fitting blue belt wrapped around his waist, with a smaller brown one crossing under it around the other side. He also had a pair of black pants, blue gloves and was wearing a light orange scarf around his neck. Finally, he had a sword that he was carrying around in his hand. The fight had only started a few minutes ago, but Akitsu could already tell that this man was stronger then her. Not only had he managed to free those two Sekirei with ease, but he had destroyed all of her defenses with the same ease and had dodged any attempts she made at attacking. Not that she had been able to launch many of those. So far he had been doing most of the attacking, keeping her almost completely on the defensive. The battle was also beginning to takes it's toll on her. Between the fight she had with the two girls and now this man, she was starting to tire and her body had several cuts to show for her lack of energy. "Because your Ashikabi managed to defeat Yomi and has in all likelihood captured number one-hundred and eight, I'm going to have to end you. Don't take this personally," the man said as he drew his blade. Faster then the eye could blink the man rushed her. Akitsu hastily put up a wall of ice to help shield her. However, even she knew such a flimsy defense would not hold this Sekirei. Closing her eyes Akitsu let a tear fall down her face as she realized that she had failed her Ashikabi. Before she could wallow in grief, however, a large blast of fire erupted in front of her, forcing the man to jump back lest he get caught in the blast. "Considering this Sekirei has just been in a rather strenuous battle before you came along, I think it's safe to say this fight is a bit unfair. Don't you think?" asked Homura as he walked towards them from behind Akitsu. Said woman eyed the man with white hair and the masked face. However, Homura kept his eye on the man with the sword. "While I don't like getting involved with Sekirei battles of this nature, I won't let you hurt the Sekirei of the person who helped number one-hundred and eight just because your spoiled brat of an Ashikabi wanted her." "I see, then I guess there's nothing I can do. A two against one battle means the odds are no longer in my favor so a battle would be ill advised. Kasaiten!" The man slammed his sword into the ground, creating large fissures that nearly knocked the two off balance. Using that chance, the man quickly escaped from the scene, running into the dark of the night until the pair could no longer see him. Now that the battle was over, Homura began to walk away. However, Akitsu quickly called out to him. "Wait!" she said, making him stop, though he did not turn to face her. "Why did you help me? I know who you are, the one who calls himself the guardian of unwinged Sekirei's. You don't step into fights between two winged Sekirei's, so why did you help me?" "Do not look to into it," Homura said. "I am merely helping you as a way of showing my thanks to your Ashikabi for rescuing number one hundred and eight. Nothing more, nothing less." Just then, Naruto with Kusano in his arms, and Musubi came walking out of the jungle. Homura saw this and gave one last parting comment before leaving. "Consider this a sign of my gratitude." With that last parting commented he jumped onto the roof of a building and took off, disappearing into the distance. "Hey, Akitsu-chan!" Naruto called out, getting her attention. "Who was that man just now?" "I... don't know..." Akitsu shook her head negatively. Naruto sighed as he looked to where the man had disappeared. He didn't like unknown variables. In battle an unknown of any kind could prove invaluable or disastrous, depending on who they were fighting for; you, your enemy, or themselves. However, he had seen what the man had done for Akitsu, at least he had seen the end. Whatever the case on this man was, whether he was fighting for himself or had done it to help Akitsu, Naruto couldn't help but feel grateful to the man. If they met up again, he would have to find some way to thank him. But for now, they had to get back home. XoX So Naruto, Musubi and Akitsu have rescued Kusano from the Arboretum. Homura aids in Kusano's rescue when Akitsu fights against Sekirei number five, Mutsu and is outclassed. Things are moving forward but now we must ask ourselves, what will happen now? Who will Naruto's next Sekirei be? And what kind of perverted ass situations will our blond protaginist get into now? These are questions that only the author can answer, but won't, because I'm an asshole like that. However, if you stick around for the next chapter you are bound to find out eventually! ^_^While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
