Darkness to Darkness Ch. 4 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Naruto's eyes opened to the almost darkness that was knows as twilight. He looked at his watch and realized that the two had slept away practically the whole day. Naruto looked down to see Sasuke still asleep in his arms and wondered how often he'd get this chance, to be with Sasuke like this... He hoped it was often. Deciding that it was probably time to get up, he leaned down to gently press kisses to Sasuke's forehead, then cheek, and finally the raven's lips before bringing his own lips against Sasuke's ear. "Time to get up, gorgeous..." Shifting on the swinging couch and Naruto, Sasuke kept his eyes closed and muttered sleepily. Naruto shook his head and pressed his lips to Sasuke's again, this time running his tongue softly across Sasuke's bottom lip. ‘That should get him up.’ "Mhmmm..." Sasuke moaned out softly and his heavy lidded eyes opened up to see Naruto's face above his own. "That's what I call a wake-up call..." "Glad you approve. But it's almost six... I guess we were more tired than we thought." Naruto ran his fingers through Sasuke's hair, loving how soft the strands felt. "You don’t have to be anywhere, do you?" "Not really, no." Sasuke yawned as he sat up. "Annett probably figured out that I left and didn't call...so...she might be at her place. With her family. It's a Saturday night. She must be. It's movie night there." Naruto just nodded and sat up a bit. "I want to take you out. You know, on a real date... And I promise I won't open any doors for you." He looked at Sasuke, really wanting this for some reason. "We already went on a date." He said a bit confused. "Another, so soon? I know you’re rich Naruto, but you can't keep doing this." "Last night... was a chance date. I mean, I wasn't even sure if you wanted to go out with me. But if you don’t want too... it's up to you." Naruto shrugged, he could deal with it if Sasuke said no, after all, they DID already have a date the previous night, AND spent all day together but Naruto just could not get enough of the raven. Sasuke yawned again and nodded after flopping back on the pillows. "After five more minutes..." Naruto chuckled but nodded anyway, pulling the blanket down over them. "We can stop by your apartment on the way, I want to take you somewhere nice. And no complaining, I have the right to treat a gorgeous man to whatever I want." Leaning on the blonde's shoulder and pulling the blanket tight, Sasuke muttered a simple ‘whatever’ and fell asleep again. Naruto slid out from underneath Sasuke to take another shower. He wasn't about to dress up in his best after sleeping on a bench all day. Once he was out of the shower and dressed in a navy blue silk shirt and black slacks with his best cologne (a very subtle yet still a bit noticeable scent), he made his way back to the balcony where he found Sasuke still asleep. That crying must have taken a lot out of the kid. Naruto placed a hand on the other's shoulder and shook him gently. "Come on... you've had your five minutes and then some." Being shaken awake, Sasuke looked up at Naruto and his jaw dropped as his heart jumped to his throat. "You...are...so...handsome..." He forced himself to sit up and speak coherently. "Damn...if you didn't look sexy before, you sure as hell do now." "Again with the compliments; I swear you're just one big suck up. Not that I mind." The blonde smirked before pulling the raven to his feet and wrapping his arms around the other. "Ready to go? I'm sure you'll want to change. But you can go in that if you want, you look good in anything." He was half teasing of course but Sasuke really did look good in anything, even paint stained tee shirts. Sasuke stretched his arms to the sky trying to get the lethargy out of his body. "Ok....back to my place it is. I got to look good to compliment you." The blonde just shook his head and led the way back inside before locking the balcony doors. He headed toward the front door, grabbing a pad of paper, his reading glasses, and a pen, just in case inspiration hit him, before ushering Sasuke out the door and to the parking garage. It didn’t take long to reach Sasuke's apartment, Naruto being anxious to take the hottie out once more. He parked before getting out and following Sasuke up to the apartment. After receiving a questioning look from the younger man, Naruto simply shrugged. "I want to see what you pick out." Sasuke looked at the door and blinked several times. There was an envelope taped to the door. "Very funny Naruto...Haha. I get it." He took the letter off the door and gently slapped Naruto with it. "Tickets to a concert?" Naruto blinked then took the envelope. "What are you..." He looked inside then looked at Sasuke. "Not me..." Opening the door, and tossing the envelope to the coffee table he walked to his room not looking back to see if the blonde was following him or not. Once in his bedroom he made his way to his closet and opened it up. "Hmm...Black slacks...and yes." He took out a jet black silk shirt. "I think this will do nicely..." Naruto picked up the discarded envelope and read the note that was inside aloud. "Too my beautiful artist. I have watched you from afar for a while now and while I know that you will probably never know who I am, I hope that you will take the time to get to know me. I will be at this event listed below tonight at 8pm and would very much like to meet you. I have enclosed a ticket for you to attend as well. I hope that we can have the chance to meet, I have liked you for so long and would love to..." Naruto stopped reading and threw the paper back down on the bed. "Yeah... that doesn’t sound like a stalker at all..." His sarcasm evident in his voice. "Yeah...doesn't have your ring to it." Sasuke said as he brought his clothes over to lie on the bed. "Computer printed, no ID, but...the place. That address is where my first art was sold. The Gallery De Artso. It’s meant to be a fancy place, with up and coming artists' works in there. I don't remember what piece they bought. But I bet if we go, we find the person.” Naruto sighed and sat on the bed. "Honestly Sasuke... I don't think that's a good idea. I don't want anything to happen to you, what if this guy or girl is a nutcase? They already sound like one in this letter. Plus... I had a place in mind already." Naruto didn't like to think that he ever pouted but he had a sinking feeling that he was this time. Sitting next to the blond on the bed, Sasuke looked over the letter again. "I guess that you’re right. I just don’t want this to escalate into anything worse.” "Has this ever happened before?" The blonde looked at Sasuke for the first time since the raven had changed and he openly stared at the gorgeous man. "Holy shit... How can you be so good looking?" "Call it genetics. And no, this is a first." Sasuke said as he looked over the letter. He wasn’t too worried about it. He got invitations to different shows all the time. Usually they were directed through Annette though. With a final shrug the raven ripped up the letter along with the ticket and threw them away in the trash. No need to worry about now. The blonde let out a puff of air but remained seated. "Hopefully that’s the last of that. But if you keep getting stuff like that you should probably get the police involved. I don't want anyone stalking you. Not to mention I'm the jealous type." The last was added with a smirk. "Oh really now?" Sasuke said playfully as he crossed his arms and stared at Naruto. "Jealous of what exactly?” Naruto stood and sauntered over to the younger man, wrapping his arms around Sasuke's waist. "Of anyone who tries to get in my way of convincing you to be mine.” "Well that’s going to be hard then Na.Ru.To." He said as he uncrossed his arms and kissed him after each syllable of his name. "And why's that... Sas. Uke..." "Simple. I'm jealous of others too. Don't think I didn't notice how that barista looked at you in the coffee shop that night." Naruto gave Sasuke a raised eyebrow. "Her? Don't be ridiculous. I've known her since she was sixteen and first hired there. Trust me; I don't think of her that way at all." He kissed Sasuke once more before letting go. "Come on, I'm hungry." "And just where are we going to eat?” Sasuke asked as he locked his front door up tight. "I mean...you keep telling me a great place but… You aren't going to blind fold me are you?" He returned the blonde’s raised eyebrow, loving their little banter. "That comes later..." A tan hand wrapped around pale fingers and headed down the stairs. "But the place we're going is a surprise, I'm sure you'll like it." "I don't think I like that later answer..." Sasuke muttered more to himself as he was pulled outside and looked to the night sky. "Nice evening..." Naruto smiled before kissing Sasuke yet again. What could he say? He loved Sasuke's lips. "The blindfolding was a joke. Unless you don't want it to be." He smirked before unlocking the door, letting Sasuke open his own, he promised after all. Sasuke nodded his acknowledgment at the older man’s effort and slid into the seat, putting on his seatbelt and shutting the door. Once the blonde saw Sasuke was in his seat and buckled in, he started the car and pulled away from the curb, making his way toward the busier part of town. It didn't take long for him to get to where he wanted to go and drove up to the doors where a valet was waiting. He got out and handed the keys to the driver before going around the car to NOT open the door for Sasuke... He had almost forgotten. Sasuke made his way out of the car and looked at the large building. "Naruto this is...the finest restaurant in the whole city. I'm...not. This is too much." Naruto just smirked. "Shut up and let's go." He grabbed Sasuke's hand, not caring who saw and entered the restaurant. He had no worries about not having a reservation, a table always awaited him if he ever needed one; courtesy of his editor and consequently, owner of the restaurant. Passing the hostess with a wave, Naruto led Sasuke to his table. It was a bit secluded, but not so much so to feel overwhelmingly isolated. It was a perfect spot for him when he felt like writing and wanted good food. Taking a sit in the soft chair, Sasuke still looked around tensely. Here he was; an up and coming artist on a date with the most popular porn writer, Naruto Uzumaki. Who knew something like this could ever happen to him? “So… this is a date…?” Damn it, why was he so awkward? Sasuke frowned inwardly and scolded himself for being such a weirdo. "I thought that was established already." Naruto reached across the table and took Sasuke's hand. "Don't think of this as a fancy restaurant. I know it is but to me, it's really not. My editor owns the place so I eat here a lot." Sasuke shook his head to clear his thoughts and saw the blond holding his hand, his heart melted a little. He was usually never this awkward with other people. Then again, he hadn’t had a date since before he graduated college. He nodded at the older man’s words. A bit surprised at how much the blonde was trying to make him feel comfortable. “Thanks for being so tolerant… I’m kin d of new to all of this.” "Tolerance has nothing to do with it. I like you, a lot, and I want to do things for you... I mean, if you don't like it then I won't but I like doing things for people. Especially those I really like.” Sasuke looked up at Naruto’s words, a bit overwhelmed at the man’s confession. “I’m thrilled to be on a date with you. I’m just not used to being here with all these different kinds of people; the rich and the snooty. Not that I'm calling you that.” He added quickly. "This is just a different world to me." Naruto chuckled at how cute Sasuke was. Did he really not know how highly people thought of him? "Just trust me. No one is going to think anything of it, you fit in just fine. Not to mention you are well known in the city. I mean, you are a very successful name in the art world." "I didn't think so. But if you say so Naruto." Not really the one to talk about his fame, or lack thereof, the raven haired artist decided it was probably best to change the subject. "What do you recommend here then?" The blonde browsed the menu. He usually just got a salad since he was usually writing when he ate and he hated getting food on his work. But for Sasuke... He figured Sasuke seemed like the salad type, but he wanted to treat the younger man. Looking through the menu, Naruto tried to guess what Sasuke might like. The man didn’t seem to have much of an appetite from what he noticed “Try the spinach stuffed salmon. I think you'll like it." Quirking an eyebrow up, Sasuke scanned the menu and read the description. "Sounds intriguing. I think I shall." He closed the menu and looked at the restaurant, finally letting his eyes take everything in. The building had an elegant charm to it without it being overly fancy. Red walls with low glowing wall mounted lights surrounded the patrons. The tables were set up in an elegant pattern that left enough room for the waiters and waitresses to make their way through them and each table had a burning candle in a red glass holder, creating a romantic atmosphere if the particular person wanted to see it that way. Over all Sasuke had to admit that he liked the place. Their waiter came by and Naruto ordered his usual salad and let Sasuke order his own before the blonde focused his attention back to his date. "If you'd like, I could introduce you to my editor, I think he's in today. He's very... eccentric but nice." Sasuke looked up at that. They had only known each other for two days and Naruto was already going to introduce him to his work associates? "Your editor? Well...I guess meeting him wouldn't be problem. It might be good since I would see him often with you, I assume?" Naruto nodded and looked around. "He's usually wandering around the restaurant..." Finally he spotted the man and stood up. "I'll be right back." Getting up, he headed over. Sasuke took a sip of water from the wine glass to try to ease his nerves. ‘Will you relax Uchiha? There is nothing to worry about! The editor will just want to say hello and get to work with Naruto, end of story.’ Naruto sat back down, joined by a tall silver haired man, not much older than Naruto himself. The blonde smiled at Sasuke before winking at him discretely. "Sasuke, this is my editor and owner of the restaurant; Kakashi Hatake. And Kakashi, this is Sasuke Uchiha, my... friend." Fuck, he didn't mean to hesitate like that. Sasuke nodded and stretched out his hand for the silver haired man to shake. "Hello; pleasure to meet you." His hand was slightly wet from sweat and was shaking very subtly. Kakashi glanced at Naruto for a moment and then back at Sasuke. "Nice to meet you as well Sasuke. I have to admit that I've heard of you, through your artwork of course. A lot of passion in your paintings." Naruto let out a silent sigh of relief. He wasn't even sure why he was nervous at having Sasuke meet Kakashi. It wasn't as if they were a couple or anything... yet. Withdrawing his hand from the table and back at his side, Sasuke smiled. "I'm glad you enjoy my style of art.” Why was he nervous around the editor/restaurant owner? He saw Naruto’s expression and noticed how nervous his lunch date was as well. It was strange though, they were only dating after all… "So I'm guessing you two met last night. Naruto told me he was going to your art show. Who knew it would have these results?" The silver haired man winked at Naruto and jabbed the man in the side. Naruto looked a bit startled. "What results? I'm taking him to lunch, is that a crime?" Hostile now... definitely nervous. Kakashi just chuckled and shook his head. "No crime. It’s just that you haven't been on a date in a while.” The blonde just glared. Sasuke tried to hide his blush by looking down at his silverware. "Is it that obvious?” Naruto continued to look at his editor. "Who cares if it is? He just likes to pry into other people’s business." Kakashi held up his hands in mock surrender. "I meant nothing by it really, but it is a bit obvious. I mean, the way you two look at each other…" Naruto rested a whiskered cheek in his palm. "Here we go..." Sasuke looked up, meeting the gaze of both men. "Alright, if this is some kind of ‘thing’ you two do with new acquaintances then I’m not amused whatsoever.” Naruto’s gaze showed astonished surprise. "Don't be ridiculous. Kakashi's always like this. Especially with people I like." The last sentence was directed to the silver haired editor, along with a smack to the arm. Kakashi rubbed the abused spot on his upper arm and waved the words away. "Hitting, Naruto?" "It's not like you can't take it." Naruto grumbled before looking at Sasuke. "Just ignore him. Really, he means nothing by it." Sasuke nodded and just kept quiet, wanting to change the subject. He thought for a moment and then finally came up with a question. "Excuse me Mr. Hatake? I have a question about your editing style." Naruto thanked whatever god was out there for Sasuke. He sure knew how to redirect a conversation. At that moment the waiter came by to drop off their meals. Seeing the owner, the poor man almost dropped Naruto's salad in his lap in surprise. "Mr. Hatake! I didn't realize you'd be joining Mr. Uzumaki... would you like anything sir?" Kakashi just shook his head and gave the waiter a $20 for being so polite and sent him on his way. Glancing back at Sasuke, the editor smiled encouragingly. “So, you wanted to ask me something Sasuke?" "Yes. Your editing style; rather, how do you mange to read Naruto’s writing? I have read a few of his notes and frankly I find them indecipherable.” "Ok, no one said you could be rude." Naruto tried not to visibly pout at Sasuke’s comment. Everyone was against him today it seemed. Kakashi just laughed. "It's not too difficult. I just demand a typed version. It's nearly impossible to read his handwritten notes. But apparently he has the ability to do so himself." The raven nodded at that and smiled knowingly at Naruto before he took his knife and fork and started to cut into his fish. "You know Naruto; I'm not being rude, merely truthful." He winked and popped the piece of fish into his mouth and almost moaned at how delicious it was. Naruto sure knew how to eat. "That seems to be the collective favorite here; although Naruto never orders it." Kakashi said, noticing the utter bliss in Sasuke’s expression. Taking out a folder from his briefcase, the silver haired man handed it to Naruto. "I figured you'd be by today so I brought your next edited installment. Pretty good, but there's a spot toward the end I need you to look at." Naruto nodded and took the folder. "Thanks. I'll have the rest for you on Monday." The silver haired man nodded and stood. "Well, I don't want to interrupt your date any further. It was very nice meeting you Sasuke and I hope to see you again soon." With that, the man took his leave. After Kakashi had vacated his seat, Sasuke scooted his chair over and looked at the folder. "May I sneak a peek?" Naruto looked up. "Huh? Oh, yeah sure." He slid the folder over to the raven and started to focus on his own meal. "Sorry again about Kakashi. He's just out to ruin my life apparently... or at least what I have of a life." Pushing the fish to the side, Sasuke opened the folder and started to read the notes among the blonde's typed work. "I see what you did here. The interaction with the two characters is very complex to the observant reader but for the everyday reader, it's simple enough to follow." Naruto's eyebrow went up in slight surprise. "I didn't know you were so analytical with literature. But I appreciate the complement nonetheless." Sasuke looked up and closed the folder. "Art comes in many forms. From my works with paints to your work with the English language. Some even say that certain sciences are an art in itself." "I guess..." Naruto took another bite of his salad before he took the folder back from Sasuke, putting it away in his bag. "But I don't need to worry about this now. I'm on a date after all." Sasuke nodded and smiled at the obvious affection in Naruto’s words. He had almost forgotten that this was a date and that he was supposed to be good company. "I'm sorry if I’m being too chatty.” "Don't shut up on my account. The whole point of dating is to get to know one another, right?" Naruto smiled. "Plus, you're voice is sexy." Rolling his eyes and picking up a tomato from the blonde's dinner plate, he waved it in front of the writer and smirked. "Mine now." He placed it slowly in his mouth, savoring the juices and putting on a display to tease the older man a bit. "If public indecency weren't wrong, you'd be under me on top of this table right about now." Naruto tried not to let himself get aroused in such a public place but it was very difficult when his potential love interest was so damn hot. Gulping the tomato down, Sasuke eyes went half lidded as he leaned closer to Naruto and whisper in his ear, "Just wait. If this dating thing works out, you could have me for dessert one of these days.” Naruto looked up at Sasuke, a smirk on his own lips. "Apparently I can't take you anywhere. We may just have to stay in on our next date. With the way you're acting, you're going to make me embarrass myself in front of a lot of people." Winking, the Uchiha placed his hand on the blonde's thigh and squeezed gently. "I'll take that offer. Your food is rather tasty." "Fine... back to your meal little Uchiha." Naruto leaned up and placed a quick kiss to Sasuke's cheek before resuming his meal. This kid was going to be the death of him. "After a trip to the restroom. If you’ll excuse me…" The raven then stood up and made his way to the said men’s room. The blonde breathed a sigh of relief that he was sure wouldn't last long. He couldn't take much more waiting. It had been a LONG time since he had last been intimate with someone and he was craving it. Of course he would never do anything the raven didn't want to do, considering the Uchiha's past; he had to tread lightly with Sasuke. Several minutes had passed and Sasuke walked out, a hand in his pocket and a hand swinging loosely at his side. He was singing a song under his breath, the words being heard by the blonde as he sat back down. "Two in love can make it, Take my heart and please don't break it...." Naruto stared at Sasuke for a moment, not quite sure if the words were directed at him or not. He was pretty sure they were, but he didn't want to say anything about it at the moment. "I think we should go... back to my place. If you want that is. If you need to work on something you can always bring it over but I'd like to spend a little more time with you." Sasuke blinked a few times. "What? You want me to come over again?" The Uchiha looked around and finally his thoughts came together. "Naruto, I would like to ask you a rather...personal question. It's not really appropriate for a place like this. I think I will take you up on that offer so I can discuss it with you." Naruto just nodded and took money out of his wallet and placed it under his plate. It was enough for both meals plus a generous tip for their waiter. "Let's go then." and with that, he led Sasuke back out of the restaurant, anxiously waited for the valet to bring his car around and eventually began the drive back to his apartment, his mind running a mile a minute the entire drive. TBC I’m so sorry I haven’t been updating recently. I’ve had little to no motivation to write these days. Please review and comment! I love reading what everyone thinks and it really does encourage me to continue! Thanks to everyone who has commented! ~Xasus
