I know I've been gone for forever, and this isn't a very long chapter. I just figured I might as well put it up. For those who read and enjoy it, thank you.
Chapter Four: Grasp “Are you feeling the hunger pains yet, Sasuke-kun?” Haku smiled down at Sasuke. Sasuke glared up at him, his eyes dark. Haku sat next to him on the engawa. Sasuke eyed the onigiri in Haku’s hands, but would not let his ravenous hunger show. Haku set the platter of onigiri in his lap. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell Kakashi-san. I know he can be a little harsh, but he really is a good priest.” Sasuke didn’t answer as he let the sticky rice slide down his throat. It was better than he expected. “In a funny way, I think he actually likes you.” Sasuke gave him an annoyed look. “Why are you helping me?” “Why shouldn’t I be? I don’t hate you, Sasuke-kun. I may not agree with you, but we’re all part of the priesthood, and I would do this for anybody else.” Sasuke finished the last of the onigiri and handed the platter back to Haku. “Thank you, it was very good,” he said stiffly. Haku smiled softly, “I’m glad you liked it.” Sasuke leaned his back against one of the wooden pillars then trained his eyes on Haku. “What is it that you like about Kyuubi?” “I don’t particularly know anything about the Kyuubi, so I couldn’t tell you if I like him or not.” “Then, why do you seem so happy to take care of him?” Haku gave him a puzzled look, “I’m not happy to take care of Kyuubi. I’m happy because I get to take care of Naruto.” “Like you said before, ‘they’re the same thing,’” Sasuke intoned with a smirk. “Yes, that’s true, but…” Haku shook his head with exasperation, “You wouldn’t understand because you’ve never seen Naruto.” “It’s not as if I’m not trying.” Haku laughed, “I guess that’s true.” “What exactly do you know about him?” Haku’s eyes clouded, “Not much, actually. It’s not as if I can talk to him or anything. The priests don’t allow that. Plus, he’s only awakened for one or two hours at a designated time. I’ve only seen him awake once since I became a priest.” “Awakened,” Sasuke said coldly. “I wasn’t supposed to say that.” Haku said suddenly, “only the people who enter the sanctuary are supposed to know. Don’t tell anyone.” “When is he scheduled to be awakened next?” “I don’t know.” Haku said, “We are only told the times we are assigned to guard over him.” “Guard over him,” Sasuke looked up at Haku, a serious expression on his face. “Who’s guarding over him now?” Haku gave him a puzzled look. “The senior members of our order guard him at night. Most of them were former ninja, and all of them have received battle training. You’ll have a hard time if you go up against them.” Sasuke stared at Haku with a fierce expression on his face, “I’m not afraid.” “I guessed that would be your answer, but there is still the problem of how to get in.” “I was hoping you could help me with that,” Sasuke said with a smirk. “That’s too bad, “Haku said with a mock pout, “I’d really like to help you out there, but your not cute enough to seduce me.” He smiled coyly before walking away. “What a strange guy,” Sasuke thought shaking his head. As the morning sun sent barrages of brilliant light through his shoji, Sasuke was already tying his black obi. “You wake pretty early, I see.” “Is there is reason for your visit Kakashi?” An object came whirling straight for Sasuke’s head. In a split second, he caught the bamboo pole before it collided with his forehead. “I think you have some work to do.” Sasuke sent him an angry glare. “Well, get to work. The courtyard’s not going to clean itself.” Kakashi smiled annoyingly. Again he pushed the broom along the craggy stones that comprised the courtyard. His eyes continued to be glued to the enchanted door. “Stare all you want, you’ll never be able to open it,” Sasuke broke out of his trance to stare at Kiba. Kiba’s thin mouth was curved into a smirk. “Kiba was it. If you’ve come here only to hinder my work, then I suggest you leave.” Kiba’s smirked at him, “Maybe you’ll actually get finished with your work today, or do you like staring at a door you will never enter?” Sasuke stared at him icily. “You may think however you wish, but no manner of beast is going to keep me from my goal.” Kiba laughed, “Even if you try a hundred times, no one is going to let you near Naruto.” “If that’s all you came to say, I think I’ll finish my work.” Kiba scowled at him as he walked away. Sasuke’s eyes drifted once again to the enchanted door. He refused to let what anyone said annoy him. He would get through that door or die trying. That's all I got so far, sorry it's so short. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
