The rest of the day went by as if nothing happened, even the first practice they had was pretty calm. Kiba and Naruto acted as if they never met Sasuke prior to that day and that almost didn't bother Sasuke. Well, until the end of practice. The coach, an older gentleman with shaggy white hair, paced in front of the silent team that was sitting on the bleachers. He cleared his throat and looked at them with a smile.
"I have decided to try something for our team bonding." he explained, "I will pair you up with someone and you two will be partners for the first week, then each week afterwards you will partner with another player. The reason I am doing this is to prevent cliques from forming and older members bullying on younger members. You will be a team so you have act almost like a family. So.. I guess some playful bullying is alright, but you guys know what I mean, right?"
The members of the team nodded, murmurs of "yeah" coming from the group. The coach nodded and looked at his clip board. He listed the pairs for the first week and at the end Kiba, Naruto and Sasuke were all quietly shocked. Kiba was paired with a guy named Sai, who was eerily like Sasuke and it unnerved him; and Naruto was paired with Sasuke, which made him uncomfortable.
"Alright, now you pairs, hang out for the weekend! School doesn't start for 3 whole days and you have lots of bonding time! Start right now!" the coach said as he sent them to the showers.
In the locker room, Kiba and Naruto paired up like usual. They were chit chatting as they showered, dried off and dressed. It was quite obvious they didn't care to be in the pairs, but Sai appeared out of nowhere and tapped Kiba on the shoulder.
"Where we going, Kiba?" he asked, with that wide smile on his face.
Sai found Kiba amusing and honestly did want to befriend the shorter man. While Naruto watched Kiba get dragged away he chuckled to himself, wondering what he'll be hearing about tonight.
"Naru! I'll be home later" he said as he struggled to slow the taller male down, "Call me if anything happens, alright?"
The blond nodded, waving at his lover with a smile. Naruto decided that if he quickly got outta there, he might not have to hang out with him tonight or the whole weekend.
Sasuke had other plans and slowly walked up to his former lover, tapping him on the shoulder and greeting him with a "yo". Naruto turned and looked over his shoulder, the shocked wide eyes turned into glares. "Hey" was the reply he gave, all the vibrancy he usually had in his voice gone.
"Let's go eat some ramen, my treat" Sasuke said, trying to make peace with the blond, "You still like ramen, right?"
Naruto bit his bottom lip, brows furrowed. It was true they needed to make peace, plus he got some free ramen in the process. With his decision changed. he nodded and picked up his duffel bag.
"I don't have a car, so you'll have to either drive me or pay for a taxi or something. I don't wanna walk anywhere far" he said quietly, still giving the brunette the cold shoulder.
Sasuke nodded, his lips slightly upturned into a mini smile. He knew for sure he still liked the blond as he felt his heart pound in his chest, all because he was being spoken to. He secretly leaned down from behind the other and caught the scent of Naruto's hair, making him want to hug him from behind.
Naruto was determined not to give into anything that Sasuke may pull. He simply did not trust the man. As he was about to turn around to say something to Sasuke, the taller male collided into him. Sasuke was too caught up in his thoughts to realize the shorter blond stopped and when he bumped into him, his arms instinctively wrapped around Naruto's waist. His face was in the soft spikes of Naruto's hair and for a moment he didn't want to let go.
Naruto's body completely stiffened. His heart started to race and it bothered the shorter man. After a few moments of silence he pulled away, his face showing how emotionally distraught he was.
"Let's go eat now, none of that stuff" he said, trying to make the ache go away.
Naruto and Sasuke both felt their chests hurt and their bodies felt as if they were magnets trying to stick together, but with an invisible hand pulling them apart. They walked over to a car and slipped in.
"I.. don't like you like that anymore" Naruto bluntly said, not sure if it was the truth he was speaking. He wanted to make things clear from the get go.
"Hnn.." Sasuke said as he looked at him through the corner of his eyes, "I remember you said you loved me, do you remember those days?"
Naruto stiffened once again, his eyes closing as his head dropped. Feelings he thought were gone started to rush in and it was all unwelcome.
"Stop fucking with my mind" he spat back, his voice heavy with emotion, "I regret saying it to you. I regret feeling that way."
It was Sasuke's turn to stiffen, his hands gripping the wheel so tight his knuckles turned white. The words Naruto said hurt him much more than he expected. He wanted to grab the blond's collar and kiss him like he used to, he wanted to show him that he was wrong. He wanted to prove to Naruto that he didn't really regret what they had and shared.
"I love Kiba" Naruto explained, "So don't even think if I'm nice to you, I want you back. I don't want you as anything but a teammate and I don't want you as a friend or anything of the sort."
"You are full of shit" he murmured as he pulled into a parking lot of an unfamiliar condo building, "You can't stop loving someone like the way you loved me."
Naruto's hands that were shoved into the front pouch of his hoodie formed tight fists. He was infuriated.
"It was my mistake to love someone who doesn't have the ability to love anyone but himself" he said in a low voice, eyes cast downwards. He wasn't sad by anymeans at that moment, he was just trying to calm himself down.
The blond looked out the window, his emotionless mask-like face reflected in the sideview mirror. Sasuke never saw Naruto look like that, not even when he saw him the day of Lee's party.
"You're so fucking vain..." he stated, face still a mask, "You think with your dick, your brain and well you do what ever your fucking parents want you to do, but definitely never with your heart. So shut up, feed me my ramen and let's pretend we're friends for the sake of the fucking team"
"Let's go into the condo" he said as he turned the ignition off and pulled out the keys.
The blond's expression changed into slight shock, head snapping to the left to look at Sasuke.
"I thought we were going to eat ramen?" Naruto asked, panicking on the inside.
"We can't be out when we're fighting. We need to calm down and try to atleast pretend we're friends or else we'll make a scene," he said as he unlocked the door and got out.
Naruto's mouth opened, then closed. He was going to protest and then he decided that maybe it was true.that they needed to try to be "friends", but that didn't mean Naruto was going to forgive him. He did as Sasuke did and followed the man into the building, then onto an elevator. Naruto left his bag in the car with no intention on staying at this place long.
The ride to the top floor was quiet, air filled with tension. As the last ding was sounded, doors opened and they walked down the hall to the condo. Naruto wondered why Sasuke lived here and the dorm, but didn't ask.
"This is my brother's place" he explained once they were both inside, the door shut behind him, "He's gone until next semester, so this place is open to me for the next few months. You can sit on the couch and I'll grab us a beer."
Naruto did as suggested and sighed, feeling uncomfortable. He wanted that beer to ease the tension, but he had to be careful not to get drunk. Sasuke returned with two ice cold beer bottles and handed one to Naruto. The blond took rather large gulps and with in seconds the bottle was empty. Sasuke handed him his untouched beer and went to get two more.
After three beers Naruto felt calmer, dizzy but way more at ease. He looked over at Sasuke who was still nursing his first beer.
"Why'd you do it?" he asked out of nowhere
Sasuke glanced to the side, finding the blond flushed with a serious look on his face.
"I kind of thank you for doing it" Naruto added, "I found Kiba after you and now.. I'm happy with him."
A drunken smirk appeared on Naruto's face as his blood started to push more of the alcohol through his system. Sasuke looked at him with a straight face, his teeth biting the inside of his bottom lip. He was jealous. They had what he wanted to have with Naruto. He wanted to admit to himself that he loved Naruto when he was 14, but what Naruto said was true. Sasuke did what his family told him, even if it was to his detriment.

OKAY! SO SORRY FOR THIS PART TO BE SASUNARU! I needed it to be to explain more about what I concocted in my tiny brain! I swear I'll get to the smut. I just need plot and character development! ^^; R&R please! I really need it!
