ANBU Cellar
Chapter 5
“I’m sorry Kakashi, we can’t let you see him” the masked ANBU replied
“I don’t care what you can or cannot let me do” I moved to within inches “I’m going to see him whether you like it or not” then I pushed past and headed down the hallway “Don’t worry about escorting me, I remember where I’m going” then I disappeared around the corner, I could here him calling after me trying not to start a scene, then he voice stopped.
“Kakashi why are you here?” there leaning against the wall was another ANBU officer
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m here to see Naruto” I replied walking past the masked ANBU
“Please Kakashi don’t make us have to use force”
“Then stop arguing with me” I called back “He’s my responsibility and I’ve let him down” there was a moment’s silence
“Then let me come with you” I sensed them appear to my side “At least then we wont have to worry about unnecessary injuries”
I nodded in agreement and kept walking without any further acknowledgement that I would not cause a scene if anyone tried to stop me. I walked another 200 meter’s until I came to the cell where I was sure Naruto would be held, I stopped outside waiting for my escort to open the door.
“Can you leave us alone for 5 minutes” I spoke to the door I could sense them nod in approval then I turned the handle and entered.
The room was darkened the only source of light coming from a dusty light bulb, I could see Naruto sitting in the corner running his hands over the grooves in the wall.
“Naruto looks like you’ve done it this time” I moved to the center dragging a stool from outside.
“Kakashi-sensei … why are you here?” he continued to stare at the wall
“If you prefer to be alone in this dark cell I can go”
“Why did you cause such a fuss to come see me?”
“Because there are people who are worried about you Naruto, I made a promise that I would get you out of here”
“But I did …”
“No you didn’t, I know the whole story Naruto” I interrupted “Sasuke is really worried about you” Naruto quickly spun around and stared at me in surprise
“You know about me and Sasuke?” I nodded moving closer
“I’m your teacher Naruto, it’s my job to watch over you and protect you” I placed my hand on his orange hair “And know what my students get up to in their spare time”
Naruto bowed his head in embarrassment as his face began to heat from a deep blush forming.
“What did he tell you?” he spoke to the floor to embarrassed to raise his head
“Well depends on what you’re asking Naruto. If you want to know about the reason you’re in here or if I know that you are in some sort of relationship”
“Either will be fine”
“Ok lets just get everything out in the open” I moved him to the stool “Sit and spill everything” he lowered himself carefully making sure that I was leading him in a trap
“Did Sasuke tell you about us Kakashi-sensei?”
“I already knew Naruto, he just confirmed it” I crouched down in front of him so that I could get a better look of his face.
“Ok, now on to the reason you’re in here”
“I won’t let Sasuke get in trouble because of my fears”
“I didn’t ask you about what you want Naruto” I looked him straight in the eyes
“What happened, if you don’t come clean I can’t help you”
Naruto lowered his head trying to avoid direct contact with my sole grey eye
“If we hadn’t been … why is it that we never really truly appreciate what we have until it’s too late? If that stupid brat hadn’t been following us none of this would have happened … He jumped straight into it the idiot” Frustration began to flow into his voice
“It was his fault!” Naruto screamed out through clenched teeth
“Calm down Naruto” I placed my hand on his heaving shoulder “I will sort this out, I promise”
Naruto leant forward his hands clenched tight into fists by his side I could see the beginning of tears forming in the corner of his eyes.
“Kakashi-sensei … I want to see Sasuke … please get me out of here” his tears finally took over his tough exterior as he fell into my arms nearly toppling me over as he silently sobbed into my chest
“I’ll try Naruto”
