Sakura was thoroughly disgusted, exhausted beyond measure and near tears. She hadn't let them fall yet, couldn't do that. There were still people to heal, still things to do.
They'd started going through rooms on the bottom floor and Sakura had thrown up in the second one. The bottom of hell had been that, literally. They found corpses, some newly dead, some having been so for a while. She hadn't been able to stay in the room long enough to see what had happened.
Gai had surfaced shortly thereafter and he, Kakashi and Sho had gone through the rest of those rooms. Sakura had no idea what they did and even years later, she never asked. She'd even refused to read the mission report.
She, Tenten, Lee and Yamato had moved up to the next floor. They'd found a room full of dogs who seemed, oddly enough, well taken care of. A few of them shied away from Sakura, but mostly they were fine. There was a similar room of cats. When she turned a puzzled look on Yamato, he simply said, "later" and left it at that.
No, that wasn't the bad part of the fifth circle. She found a room with three little girls in it roughly ten years old, all of them having gone mute at some point. They cringed away from her, frightened beyond belief, but after some major coaxing, she finally got them to let her look them over. They'd been used sexually, and would never have children of their own but other than that, there wasn't any physical damage that she could see. Emotionally, they'd never be okay.
By the time they were done, Sakura was on the point of chakra exhaustion. They'd found two boys in another room near the little girls, but thankfully, the rest of the level had been empty. Sho had found several others tied up on the level where Gai had been kept. It took a while for them to get all of them out and checked over.
She sat in one of the booths up in the Neko Club for a few minutes, desperately needing to rest a little. They'd moved everyone up out of Jigoku so that they could be looked over and cared for. But Sakura was frustratingly out of chakra and there were still a few left from the fourth level that needed help. She popped a soldier pill, her third so far, stretched her neck and got up again.
Jirocho had arranged for help to find the children's families, as well as clothes for those who needed them. The animals had been collected by the local shelter, and Kakashi and Yamato reported the…remains for the local authorities to take care of. The only thing left was to help the adults still in the club.
"Does she ever rest?" Sho asked Kakashi.
He shook his head. "Not if there's someone who needs help. She'll keep going until she literally collapses. I tried, once, to force her to stop."
Sho stared at him with wide eyes. "What happened?"
Kakashi chuckled. "I flew about fifteen meters before I hit a wall. Which only succeeded in pissing her off more because then she had to heal me, too."
Sho laughed. "I would have left you sit."
"She was tempted." They watched her a few more minutes as she moved from person to person, healing what she could. When she started to sway, he sighed. "If I go through a wall, will you see if you can get her to rest? She won't punch you."
"If you say so." Sho laughed.
He picked his way across the room, trying to avoid the people. "Sakura."
"Hi. I still have people to help. Those three over there still have bruises and cuts on their back. And the two guys over there have fairly major bruising in…other areas." She finished.
"Sakura, you can't take responsible for all of these people. You need to send them to the hospital." He grabbed her hand when she would move.
"But…"
"No. Come on, you're about to fall over. You haven't slept in almost forty-eight hours, you're bordering on chakra exhaustion and you, yourself, are injured."
She sighed and frowned. "I guess." She looked around in frustration, a few tears leaking out, then finally gave in. "Help me get them there."
He rounded up their team with Sho and together, they got the injured to the hospital. Yuri helped as well and finally, long after the sun was up again, they were crawling back to the boss's house, almost literally. Sakura made it inside the bedroom door before swaying again.
"Start the tub, she won't want to sleep like this." Kakashi said to Yamato. Yamato headed into the bathroom while Kakashi undressed her. By this time, she was only half awake. Between the two of them, they managed to get undressed themselves and climb into the tub.
They took turns cleaning her up and as the water washed over her, she woke up more. She turned to clean Yamato and Kakashi helped, and somewhere in all of that the washcloth was forgotten, lost down in the water. They took turns kissing each other, touching each other and then the tub got frustrating.
By the time they made it to the bed, they were damned near desperate. "I need you. Now." She pushed Yamato back onto the bed and their lips crashed together again. She straddled him and took him into herself in one motion.
"God, Sakura." He moaned, his hands going to her hips. She felt the bed move behind her and she looked over her shoulder to see Kakashi getting close to her. Yamato pulled her down and spread her open for him.
And before long, they were once again making love together. Once again trying to give to each other, and in there was a feel of desperation to it, a reminder that, despite all they'd seen, despite all they'd done, that this was where they belonged. They were alive, they loved each other and they were going to be alright.
They lay in the aftermath, the three of them a little stunned at the force of it. As they settled in, Sakura curling up between them, the tears finally fell. They cuddled her close, trying to comfort as much as they could.
The sign on the door said, "Closed for Private Party."
The interior of the club didn't look any different. But tonight instead of the Neko dancers on the tables with customers watching, the employees of the club formerly known as Jigoku were dressed in regular evening clothes. The music was a little quieter than normal, the lights a tiny bit brighter, there was a makeshift dance floor set up on one side and against one wall was a long table of food.
Tengoku would still feature options for all tastes. The premium services would still be available, in varying degrees, for those who were interested in them. But only to a point. Nothing like the lower levels of the former Jigoku would exist. Those floors had been sealed off, never to be reopened. Tengoku was consensual, period.
Boss Jirocho stood off to one side, surveying his new establishment. "Happy with your new acquisition?" Sakura asked as she approached.
Jirocho smiled down at her. She was wearing the black dress she'd bought for her dinner date and he gave himself a moment to appreciate the sight. "Yes, I am. I think this will be a very lucrative venture. Too bad I'll be shy my two best dancers." He sighed.
Sakura laughed. "If they ever stop using ninja, I'll keep it in mind."
"Thanks." Jirocho chuckled. "Are you going back tomorrow, then?"
Sakura shook her head. "Not quite. Apparently, there are still a few things to straighten out with the local police, so at least an extra day."
Jirocho nodded. "I'm certainly not upset about that. Don't supposed you'd work tomorrow night for me…?"
She laughed. "Full of it. I'm telling you." She dropped a kiss on his cheek and he laughed with her.
"Can't blame me for trying can you?"
She smiled. "No." She paused. "Thank you for everything."
"You're very welcome. I still think it was the least I could do." He shrugged. "Especially since I ended up with another successful business out of it."
"I sincerely hope I never have to do a mission like this again." She sighed.
"I hope so, too. I think you are an incredible woman for doing it." He leaned over and kissed her cheek.
She shrugged. "I did what I had to do. That's all." She smiled up at him a moment. "You're a great guy, Jirocho."
He blushed and waved a hand. "Now I think you're full of it."
"Are you okay?" Tenten asked for the millionth time that night.
"I'm fine, Tenten. I told you that." Gai was in danger of actually getting annoyed. It had been almost a week since they'd gotten him out of hell, and he had healed just fine. Physically, at least. There were some things that he would probably never want to go near again. Switches, for one. Whips, for another. He'd also be happy if he never saw another ball wrap again. And leashes. Those, he would be perfectly thrilled to not ever have attached to any part of him.
But surprisingly, after giving it some thought, he hadn't gotten over his other appreciations. While he'd been laying there, tied to that bed, he'd suspected he would never get turned on by that kind of thing again. He'd told himself that he was cured completely of anything like that. But despite his ordeal, he'd found himself fantasizing about it again a couple of days ago and he had to admit that it was still something that interested him.
Tenten stared at him a moment, then sighed. "I'm sorry." She frowned.
He considered her a moment. "Come here." He said and pulled her into a quiet corner. She looked up at him curiously and he paused to look her over again. He still had trouble believing sometimes that she loved him. He'd been attracted to her for quite a while and when she'd asked him to train her, he'd been sure he was dreaming. It took quite a bit for her to convince him she was serious and he was awake.
She'd bought a dress for the night. It was very conservative compared to the clothes she'd been wearing, but she'd insisted that she'd be happy never showing her breasts off ever again, at least in public. Gai didn't mind that one bit. The dress she chose was long and white with red trim, much like her normal ninja clothes were. It had a high Chinese collar, t-shirt style sleeves and a straight, split skirt. He and Lee had spent a solid five minutes staring at her before she had to smack them back to attention.
He brought his thoughts back to the present. "I'm sorry for snapping at you. I am fine. I'm more than fine. In fact, I was hoping that tonight, after the party, you would stop avoiding me."
She blinked and looked away. "I…"
"I know why, and I appreciate it. But I've missed you. I've missed being with you. Lee even said something to me earlier about it." She looked up at him. "In fact," he cleared his throat. "When we get home to Konoha, there are other things I'd like to try with you."
Her eyes widened. "Really?"
He nodded. "Yes."
"You're…okay with that?" She asked and Gai fought the grin that threatened at the flush spreading on her face.
"Yes. As long as it's you."
She grinned and practically tackled him. "Yes!" She laughed, then blushed. "Sorry, you'd think you just proposed or something."
He chuckled, but didn't say anything. The ring was back in their bedroom at the boss's house. That would wait until it was more private.
"Well, I'd say this was a successful mission." Kakashi handed Yamato a bottle of sake and looked him over. Yamato was wearing the suit he'd purchased for their dinner out. He shifted his focus to something else so he wouldn't feel the need to adjust himself.
"Yep. And the best part?" Yamato asked, as he sipped his drink. His eyes roamed over Kakashi in the dark suit and he couldn't help but think the man look really good in it. He looked away to keep from actually drooling.
"Hm?"
"It's over."
Kakashi laughed. "Right. Now we just have to worry about telling the village that we're marrying Sakura and we love each other. Oh, and plan a wedding. Easy."
Yamato snorted. "Yeah." He glanced at his best friend. "Are you ready to announce that?'
Kakashi looked back at him. He knew he wasn't referring to the engagement or the wedding. "I am. Are you?"
Yamato looked back over the crowd and took a deep breath. Then he reached over and took Kakashi's hand in his own as his answer. And then he nearly panicked. "Kiss me."
"What?"
"Kiss me." Yamato said and looked back at his friend.
"I know I said I wanted to let people know that we loved each other, but kissing in public is n…" he was cut off as Yamato snatched his mask down and their mouths crashed together. And despite his assertions about public displays, his arm went around the other man, his eyes closed and he returned the kiss.
A moment later, they broke apart and he looked at Yamato with an eyebrow raised. "Care to explain?"
"The sisters are watching us."
Kakashi blinked and glanced over. "Oh." Shigeko and Yashina were standing about ten meters away with twin shocked expressions on their faces. Yashina apparently came to her senses before her sister did, because she grabbed Shigeko's arm and pulled her along toward them. "Shit."
"You can say that again," Yamato murmured and adjusted Kakashi's mask as they approached. "Where's Sakura?"
"I don't know. This could get ugly." Kakashi cleared his throat and tightened his arm around Yamato.
"Hello!" Yashina greeted them. She looked from one to the other. "So…not just regular customers?"
Kakashi shook his head. "No. We were part of the group that was investigating the lower levels."
"Oh." She said "And you're…gay?"
Despite himself, Kakashi blushed. "Not exactly. This is Yamato, my…" he paused and looked over at him. "My future husband. Our future wife was posing as a dancer here."
They blinked at him almost at the exact same time. It was a little creepy. "Your…future wife?"
Yamato nodded, spotting Sakura standing near the main stage with her arm around Sho, talking to Yuri. He was glad, for once, that she was distracted. He pointed with his free hand. "Over there with the pink hair."
They turned at the same time to look over at her. When they turned back, they looked at each other, then back at the men. "Well, um, congrats." They said at the same time and turned away.
"That could have gone worse. And been a little less creepy. They didn't seem that creepy downstairs." Yamato said, then looked over at Kakashi. "Husband. I guess I didn't think about it, but that's what we'd be, isn't it?"
Kakashi shrugged. "Titles. I guess if we have to have them, it's the best one."
Yamato shook his head, not realizing that neither of them had dropped their arms yet. "Bizarre."
"I still can't quite get over the fact that you're a ninja." Yuri said. He shook his head, chuckling. "Well, I'm sorry to see you go. You really were one of my best dancers."
Sakura blushed. "I wasn't trying to be so good at it." She cleared her throat.
"She's just a natural." Sho said and Sakura colored even more.
She elbowed him. "Stop it."
He laughed. "I'm sure Yuri will be able to find someone to replace you. Though they'll never quite measure up."
"I'll do my best, boss." Yuri said, laughing.
"You do that." Sho chuckled. "Now," he said, looking down at Sakura. "Let's dance."
He led her out onto the dance floor and pulled her into his arms. "I'm going to miss you something fierce." He said, as they started to move.
She smiled up at him. "I'll miss you, too." Her smile faded. "I know I said I wouldn't do this, but I am sorry. For deceiving you, for all that we've had to go through. And yes, I'm sorry that it's ending the way it is. I'll always love you."
He pulled her a little closer. "I'll always love you, too." He placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. "But I'll be okay. So will you."
She smiled. "Yeah, I will. I really hope you find someone, Sho."
He shrugged. "Maybe. But until then, I have some very nice memories to take with me." He grinned and she blushed again.
"I'm not going to go kill him. I'm not. But I want to." Yamato said and dropped his arm from around Kakashi to pick up a fresh bottle of Sake.
"It's the last time he'll get to see her." Kakashi reminded him.
Yamato sighed. "I know." He glanced up at him. "Doesn't it bother you at all?"
Kakashi chuckled. "You're jealous enough for both of us."
Yamato couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah." He sighed and spotted Riku heading toward them. "Oh boy," he muttered.
"Hello." She said with a grin. "I thought you weren't quite what you said you were."
"Hi, Riku." Yamato said with a blush. He turned to Kakashi, "did anyone believe us?"
Riku laughed. "I didn't say I knew what you were just what you weren't." She turned to Kakashi, "so, can I know your real names?"
"I'm Kakashi." He said, chuckling. "And this is Yamato."
She nodded. "Very nice to meet you. How about a dance?" She asked Yamato.
He glanced at Kakashi and handed him the Sake bottle. "Alright." He led her onto the dance floor and pulled her into his arms.
"So, what are you? Can you tell me?" She asked, smiling up at him. She was wearing a wrap dress of some sort and he found it a little odd to see her fully dressed. Her hair was twisted up and she looked…normal. He shook his head slightly.
"I'm sorry. I'm a ninja. From the Hidden Leaf Village." He said as he turned her.
"Ahh. That makes sense." She sighed. "I suppose that means you're going home, then?" She looked a little disappointed.
He swallowed. "Yes. With my future wife. I wasn't lying about the girlfriend part." He didn't think he needed to tell her about the future husband part, too.
She frowned. "Oh, well. That must have been…odd. Visiting the club and really having a girlfriend."
He considered her a moment as he thought it through. "In a way. Kakashi and I both found ourselves struggling with things a little bit. Over the course of the mission we had to work our way down through the levels. It wasn't so bad with you, but by the time we made it to Sanenjin…" He cleared his throat. "But at the same time, Sakura was posing as a dancer up here." He sighed. "These types of missions are rare, but we go into our careers knowing we may have to do something like this someday." He shrugged. "It's not easy, but we do what we have to. Err, not that it was difficult to…with you…um…" he snapped his mouth closed and his face colored even more.
She laughed. "You really are a cutie. Especially when you blush."
He did so now and she laughed. "I can't help it. I'd honestly never done the stuff I'd done with you before."
"Well, that explains why you were so shy." She grinned. "But you did just fine. If you use your new knowledge on your future wife, I'm sure you'll make her very happy."
Yamato colored even more. "Right." The song ended and she leaned up and laid a kiss on his cheek. "Good luck to you, Yamato. It was nice knowing you."
As she walked away, he found himself with Sho standing next to him, staring after Riku with an unmistakable look on his face. "Who…was that?" Sho asked.
Yamato looked over at the other man. "Her name is Riku. Would you like me to introduce you?"
Sho nodded quickly. So, Yamato hurried to catch up with her. "Riku," he called and she turned.
"Yamato?" She smiled, expectantly.
"I'd like to introduce you to someone." He turned to Sho, then elbowed him so that he'd close his mouth. "This is Sho. Sho, this is Riku. She's ---"
"Delighted to meet you." She interrupted him, staring at Sho. She held a hand out and he took it, both of them completely forgetting Yamato.
Yamato stared after them as they moved off of the floor, completely lost in each other. "Should we be jealous?" Sakura asked in his ear.
"I don't know," he said and looked down at her, then shook his head. "No, no, definitely not. I have something much better here." He said and pulled her into his arms.
She grinned. "So do I. Where's our other part?"
They glanced over to see Kakashi approaching them. He took each of their hands and kissed them. "Well, looks like things will work out. Our rings should be in tomorrow and with any luck, we'll be heading home the day after that."
"I'm ready to go." Yamato said.
"So am I. I don't care if it's Heaven or Hell, I've had enough. I'd rather stick with something a little more normal. Like Leaves." Sakura said.
"Here, here." The guys chorused.
