Kakashi tried to acclimate himself to the idea of Sasuke not only as a student, but as a housemate.
"Look. I'm used to living alone. I haven't lived with anyone else since I was a kid, so don't be underfoot too much."
Sasuke looked around the small spare room, obviously unimpressed. Boxes sat haphazardly, and it was dusty and smelled musty and unused.
"I know this isn't what you wanted," Sasuke said, "but I'm glad Sakura-sama ordered this. We have a lot of catching up to do. I'll have to marry, but you and I can..."
"Can nothing," Kakashi said. "You're my student. You need to focus on your future, not on me."
"I already have some plans for my future."
"So far you haven't mentioned anything specific."
"I need to find some people to associate with. I can't get anywhere here without networking. I need to find a way to meet some eligible kunoichis if I want a family."
"You can't date anyone who looks your age," Kakashi said.
Sasuke dropped the henge and cast another one, looking like the same person but taller and slightly more mature in the face.
"I look 18 now. It shouldn't be a problem. I'll find someone a little older than I look."
"I want to hear you say you'll only date adults," Sasuke said.
"If this is about what happened with Orochimaru, I didn't like it and I never plan on having any students."
"I told you that's not what teachers do," Kakashi said.
"I'm not sure I believe you," Sasuke said. "I don't know why you're lying to me, but it doesn't matter after what happened when you were injured. You gave yourself to me. You're mine now. You'll come around to the idea."
"That was rape," Kakashi said, "and the only reason I let you get away with it is because the village’s needs are more important than my own."
Sasuke smirked. "If you say so, Sensei. You seemed really into it the second time."
"There won't be a second time," Kakashi said.
"There might be a third. Do you really not remember the second?"
Kakashi had begun to move boxes out of the room, but he stopped to give Sasuke his full attention.
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh come on," Sasuke said. "You were on some pain meds, but you weren't that high."
"I guess I was! I want you to understand this clearly. It won't happen again. If I wasn’t under orders you wouldn’t be here in the first place.”
"I thought you were working out a fantasy when you called me Gai while your dick was in my mouth, but maybe you actually thought it was his mouth on you, making you come. You were really into it."
Kakashi shuddered. "You had no right, and Gai and I aren't... We aren't going to discuss this anymore, but I'm going to kill you if you ever try anything like that again."
"As you wish, Sensei," Sasuke said, smirking. "What instructions do you have concerning me?"
"I'm going to help you reintroduce yourself to Konoha, and we're supposed to make it appear as if I'm teaching you."
"And you'll be reporting to Sakura about me?"
"Hokage-sama to you. You'd better get used to it, and of course I'll be reporting to her."
"I didn't expect anything else," Sasuke said. "I'm not good at showing it, but I'm grateful to you and Sa...Hokage-sama for accepting me here."
"I hope it works out," Kakashi said. "I need to clear my head and think. I'll be back later. You can get settled in, but don't move my stuff."
"I don't have many belongings," Sasuke said. He looked around at the sparsely furnished apartment. "You don't seem to own much more than books and weapons anyway."
Kakashi didn't like leaving Sasuke alone in his home, but it might as well be sooner than later. Sakura-sama has no idea how much trouble she's causing me. Or she might. She was angry at me for forcing Sasuke back into her life.
He usually wandered about the village and ended up in the cemetery when he needed to think, but tonight he found himself heading another direction. He didn't even realize where he was going until he was almost in Gai's neighborhood.
He half hoped his friend wasn't home, and when Gai answered the door in green sweatpants Kakashi felt unusually nervous.
"I'm sorry to have disturbed you," Kakashi said. "I'll come back another time."
"Nonsense! Come in and watch a movie with me. I finally have a bit of time to relax, and what better way to do it than with you!"
As always Gai's enthusiasm amused him and made his problems seem a little less heavy, his life a little brighter. "I just need to get out of my apartment. I brought someone back with me on my latest mission, and I'm already feeling cramped."
Gai put the movie in the player and sat on the big green couch. "Girlfriend?"
"No."
A fuzzy eyebrow shot up. "Boyfriend?"
"No. What makes you think...? Never mind."
"I have occasionally wondered," Gai said.
"I'm not against it," Kakashi said. "I just... haven't."
Gai went to the kitchen and brought them both beers.
"Have you ever been with a guy?" Kakashi asked. "I'm just curious," he added quickly.
Gai opened his beer and took a long drink. "I needed information out of someone on a mission about 10 years ago, and he'd been flirting with me, so seduction seemed like the best tactic."
"Did you like it?" Kakashi asked.
"I felt guilty - not about the sex, but about the seduction. I didn't like misleading him into thinking that I cared about him. There were a few other times."
Gai fidgeted.
"So what movie did you get?" Kakashi asked to break the awkward silence.
"I got the new Icha Icha movie. As much as you talk about those books I thought I'd give the movie a try."
"You know what kind of movie it is, right?" Kakashi asked.
"A romance. Have you seen it before?"
"No," Kakashi lied. Why did I lie to him? He wondered as he remembered several of his favorite, steamiest scenes. One of those scenes involved two men.
The movie started, and it wasn't subtle. Two samurai fought with swords as a doe-eyed woman held a dress that had been strategically ripped together in a way that barely hid her breasts.
The samurai won, and he claimed the woman roughly, mocking her for thinking she might be rescued. She screamed as he pulled down the remnants of her dress to her waist and threw her on the ground. He pushed her onto her back and reached under her skirt.
"I don't like this," Gai said.
Kakashi glanced sideways. Always so noble, he thought. He wondered how Gai managed to be so naive, or was he just a good person?
A knife struck the villain in the neck, and he fell beside the girl. The man who had been beaten staggered over to her, bleeding from the head, and after pulling her to her feet he wrapped her in his cloak to cover her nudity.
She touched his face. "You're injured," she said.
"There are bandages in my traveling gear," he said, "but your love is the best salve of all."
The title screen rolled a picture of mountains and mist with soft music.
"Ok. I'm glad that turned out better than I thought it would," Gai said. He finished his beer and fetched two more. Kakashi finished his first and started on the second, thinking that a little alcohol might help ease the tension.
It was a beautiful movie, combining a carnal story with some of the best wire work he'd ever seem. If he hadn't known better he would have sworn the actors were using chakra instead of special effects.
Kakashi didn't pay nearly as much attention to the movie as Gai did. He looked at Gai, trying not to be obvious. He had always admired his body - professionally of course - but after what Sasuke had said he looked at him in a different way. Gai was a powerhouse, and without a shirt his supple muscles were attention grabbing. I think Sasuke noticed something that was always there. Now that he thought about it there had been signs; a nervousness when he was at the baths that he only felt around Gai, the tension of their bizarre rivalry, and how safe he felt when they were together on missions. It wasn't how he felt with other trusted comrades. There had always been another dimension to it, something deeper.
He felt dirty at the thought of Sasuke discovering a secret he didn't even know he had, but he set the thought aside.
He was on his fourth beer when he realized he was starring to get drunk.
I'd better be careful what I say, he thought.
The scene he'd been waiting for showed up, the one where the two peasants made love. It was a little side plot, but Kakashi watched Gai as much as he watched the scene.
The two farmers were in a barn, and when one kissed the other roughly Gai let out a soft sound of surprise.
The farmhand reached inside the other man's pants, and while nothing was actually visible the movement of his hand under the fabric and the look of ecstasy on the other man's face made it plain that he was giving him a hand job.
When they ended up on the ground one of the farmers mounted the other one and slipped his hand into the back of his pants. The scene was done in such a way that actual penetration wasn't shown, but it was implied so strongly that it was still steamy.
Gai leaned forward, blushing and intent on the movie.
"Pretty hot, huh?" Kakashi asked right before he realized that he was too drunk to filter his thoughts properly.
"Yeah...yeah," Gai said hesitantly and with a slight slur in his voice. He shifted slightly, but not before Kakashi noticed his erection.
"Why did you decide to become my rival?" Kakashi asked.
"How else was I supposed to get you to notice me?" Gai asked.
"You're a hard person not to notice," Kakashi answered. "But why rival? Why not friend, or something else?"
"Do you really want to know?" Gai asked.
"I think I already know," Kakashi said. "Someone said something to me recently and I've been thinking about..."
He stopped talking when Gai reached for his mask, pulling it down slowly and then kissing him. Gai pushed him down onto the couch and pushed his tongue inside his mouth, and after overcoming the surprise Kakashi returned the kiss with passion, running his hands over Gai's back and then pulling him closer.
He was hard, which at once surprised him, but also didn't. "I guess I always knew," Gai said, "but you always seemed so cool and detached."
He nuzzled Kakashi's neck, which was odd because of his scratchy stubble, but also oddly satisfying.
With Gai's body and head in the way Kakashi couldn't see what he was doing, but the Green Beast began sucking on his neck while he unbuttoned Kakashi's pants.
