The blindfold around Naruto’s eyes prevented him from seeing, the darkness a little disconcerting as Kisame drove, the sound of music filling the SUV. He had no idea where they were going, only that this was a surprise when Kakashi had given him a clean bill of health a few days ago. Kisame had immediately started making plans behind Naruto’s back, showing him just how devious he could be. It almost put him to shame with the way Kisame snuck around the apartment.
Naruto wasn’t sure how it happened, but it seemed the larger man was moving in with him. Every few days he would find more of Kisame’s stuff strewn about his apartment. While it didn’t bother Naruto, he had to wonder just what the man was doing. When he had found Kisame’s toothbrush next to his, a thrill of joy surged through him. The last few weeks had Naruto on cloud nine, the way Kisame looked after him was something new and exciting. The smell of Kisame’s aftershave filled Naruto’s nose after he had heard the door open and he was guided out. Naruto had seen in some pictures Kisame had shown him and had known immediately it was Kisame’s personal boat he used for his research.
“What is this?” Naruto asked in awe as he was led to the boat, Kisame’s hand holding a bag of supplies as they made the short trek.
“Something I put together just for you, Naruto,” Kisame answered as he helped his boyfriend on the boat. His assistant, Deidara, was there and ready to go. He had been planning this for weeks now, waiting for the go ahead from Kakashi for Naruto to enter the water.
“But why?” Naruto asked as a breeze ruffled his hair and he looked up to Kisame with large, surprised blue eyes.
“Because I wanted to,” was the only given answer as Kisame undone the rope tying them to the dock and Deidara took that as the signal to go out to sea. The warm ocean breeze was amazing on his skin as they sailed further out into the blue body of water.
Naruto enjoyed the view of the slowly rocking waves and the occasional dolphin that decided to break above the surface. He was wowed by what he was seeing and the smile that crossed his face couldn’t be helped. “You really went through all of this for me?” Naruto asked awed at the admission. The fact that Kisame had thought ahead to his problems and had found a solution warmed his heart. No one had ever put this much effort into a date, not for him at least. He had to stop with the comparisons though, the two situations were totally different and he couldn’t compare them, not really. But Naruto was sure of one thing, he was more than happy he had found Kisame.
“How could I not, Naruto? I want to see you happy. Now get changed, we’re going to dive soon. I’ll be right there with you the whole way. Just tug on my arm if you get too uncomfortable.” Kisame said as he found the bag he had brought with him and began to pull swimwear out. They wouldn’t need much today as he hadn’t planned on Naruto being underwater for too long.
He handed a pair to Naruto who eyed them with a curious glance. He wasn’t sure where he should change, he didn’t want to here in the open because of his scars. As if sensing his dilemma, Kisame guided him to the cabin and allowed him to change. His head was reeling from the measures his boyfriend was taking to make sure he would be safe on this trip.
As Naruto glanced around the cabin, he noticed there were three small aquariums filled with different fish. The one by the window was filled with tropical while the other two were filled with fresh water. His eyes were wide as he gravitated towards them and watched them with fascinated eyes. As he observed the fish he couldn’t help the excitement that bubbled up within him, he was actually getting to do something he’d always wanted to do, dip into the ocean.

“We will stay like this since I know you can’t swim that well. This way, you won’t float off and I know you’ll be safe.” Kisame said as the cage jarred as it was lifted into the air and they started their descent down into the ocean.
