Chapter 3 for you guys. Thanks so much for all the awesome reviews I got; I'm so glad everyone likes this story since it is one I feel written very close to my own heart. I really appreciate all the positive feedback I got. *giggles* Smint- Give me about half a year and some faith and ecouragement and I'll have the painting of Jiraiya that you like so much done. I've been inspired to do one. I'm just not sure whether it should be oils or water colours.
Here are my two promenant pieces of Naruto on DA if you want a look: http://ratchets-sparkling.deviantart.com/#/d3j90kw http://ratchets-sparkling.deviantart.com/gallery/30331652#/d3gv5gz Any how on with the story ----------------------------------------- Minato's heart was beating fast as a blush stained his cheeks. Naruto was holding his wrist and dragging him behind the blond. He was distracted when they entered the underground parking garage and headed towards the darker parts of the building. "I'm sorry I kept you so late Minato, will it be alright if at least treat you to dinner? I don't want your parents to worry." Naruto asked as he headed for his black car. Coming to halt and unlocking the doors, surprised when he found Minato staring at his car with wide eyes. "P-p-p-rofessor is this your car?" Minato asked with awe in his voice. Naruto nodded and opened the passenger side door for his guest. Minato was beside himself; their family may be considered rich but never before had set foot in a brand new Maserati GTS; sleek and black with orange pinstripes running on the sides. As he slid into the passenger seat he heard Naruto chuckle. "Yes it is my car. Now are you hungry or not?" Naruto inquired. Minato nodded as he observed the inside of the car, the smell of leather and the feeling of ultimate luxury a new experience for him. Momentarily he forgot his wildly beating heart at going out with Naruto-sensei. As his awe slowly faded and his senses returned to him, he observed Naruto from the corner of his eye. The seemingly younger looking man was humming to a tune in his mind and for a second he could have sworn those electric blue eyes slitted and shimmered red before turning blue again. ~ "Two bowls of miso pork ramen, Oyaji." Naruto declared happily as he ordered his meal. Leaving Minato to order what he wanted to himself. "Yes, Naruto-sama anything for you friend?" The bar owner inquired. Naruto nodded as he indicated to Minato to place his order. After a quiet few minutes Minato turned his attention to Naruto and blushed at the scrutiny that he was under. Those blue eyes seemingly being able to see into the depths of his soul at their sorrowful intensity. "A-ano, Naruto-sensei; that painting are you going to sell it?" Minato asked as he remembered the painting that his sensei had taken with him in a rush. Naruto seemed to frown at his question before shacking his head. "No, I hardly sell my stuff unless someone begs me. That painting I intend to give away later tonight to someone who would really appreciate it." Naruto murmured; head turned downwards to avoid the clear gaze of Minato. He didn't want Minato to see the tears that threatened to leak into his eyes. "I'm sorry if this is an apposing question Naruto; but who is the man in the picture?" Minato asked; hoping that Naruto would tell him and maybe forget about the sadness that now seemed to surround his teacher in a tangible darkness. "I suppose I could tell you. He was my godfather, a rather dirty old man but we became very close before he was killed." Naruto murmured softly and turned blue eyes towards blue and felt a sad smile whisper across his lips. "Sensei, if he meant so much to you. Why are giving the picture away?" Minato asked confused at the sorrow that shone in those beautiful eyes; intense and full of regret. Naruto gave another sad smile before giving a soft whisper. "I loved Jiraiya very much. Don't mistake me but there are others who would appreciate that piece more than me." Naruto said and turned his eyes towards the oncoming waiter with their food and drinks. Minato observed as Naruto seemed to seal his emotions away and happily dived into his food. Following suit Minato thought it best to not mention anything sad again and maybe Naruto would not try to hide so much behind fake smiles and over exaggerated gestures. Somehow their conversations always seemed to affect Naruto in a negative way. "Naruto-sama; your bill." Naruto nodded and handed over the notes before turning towards the ramen bar owner. "Stop calling me that Oyaji. We've known each other a long time now." Naruto said with smile as he chatted to Minato all the way towards the Namikaze house. The conversation was light and easy flowing and Minato was happy to see Naruto smile a real smile for the first time. It warmed his heart to observe Naruto's careful mask crack little by little and somehow the real Naruto was showing through. ------------------------------------ "Would you like to come in for some tea sensei?" Minato asked, not wanting to give up the conversation that was so easily flowing through them. With every word Naruto spoke Minato could feel the place in his heart reserved for Naruto grow bigger. Naruto seemed to hesitate for a second, but he needed to apologize to Minato's family as well. So he glanced at the clock; it was three hours to midnight. He still had some time before he needed to summon the large toad. Naruto gave a nod and followed Minato into the traditional house. Heart aching at the familiarity it brought to him; if only he could have grown up in a family such as this. "Tadiama." Minato said and Naruto was startled by a happy cry as a silver blur threw himself at Minato's legs and seemed to hug tight. "Hey Kashi, is mom still in the kitchen?" Minato asked and his brother gave a nod before turning his attention towards the guest standing behind his brother. "Ne, Nii-san; who's this?" Kakashi asked but before Minato could answer his mother came storming in and smiled warmly at Minato and Naruto. "Yes, Mina-chan who's this?" She asked and beckoned their guest in side towards the tea room. "Oh, I'm sorry. This is Uzumaki Naruto; he is my arts professor." He said lightly as he allowed Naruto to follow him. Naruto chuckled at Minato's mother's reaction; she stared at him with wide eyes and then back to her son before declaring in a delighted voice. "Mina-chan he's adorable; you be good to him now. I'll go get the tea now." Naruto blushed a deep crimson at that declaration before sinking on his knees at the table. "I'm sorry Naruto-sensei, she gets a bit over enthusiastic." Naruto merely gave a chuckle; at least he knew where his enthusiasm seemed to have sprung from. "It's fine," he chuckled. "It's fine. My ego may be a little bruised but I'll survive." Naruto declared in a mocking tone of hurt. Only to stopped by two mismatched eyes and gravity defying hair. "Hey there little man. Who are you and how old are you?" Although Naruto already knew who he was; no one could mistake Kakashi's features anywhere. "Kakashi and I'm ten." Naruto nodded before ruffling his hair. "I see, well considering you're getting big now. You should look after your Nii-san; he needs you even though he doesn't like to admit it." Naruto said in a staged whisper. Laughing at the indigent 'hey' that Minato shouted. Conversation was slow and pleasant as time ticked on but Naruto was interrupted by the clock as he saw the time stand at 11:30. "I'm sorry Namikaze-san but I need to go. Thanks for the tea." Minato's mother nodded before signalling her son to show his professor out. "I'll be off now Minato-kun. Keep safe and sweet dreams. I'll see you in class on Monday." Naruto gave a final wave goodbye as he got into his car and drove off towards the shrine. The Kyuubi No Kitsune Shrine that he erected two centuries ago on top of the ruins of Konoha. ---------------------------------- It had been a long time since he needed so much chakra but with careful concentration and the right hand seals Naruto executed the summoning technique as if he had been doing it everyday. Jumping back from the jutsu markings so that he would not land on top of the large toad's head and startle Gamabunta. His chakra stained the air in a dark sorrow that was hard to miss just as a large puff of smoke erupted seemingly from nowhere to signal Gamabunta's arrival. "It's been almost a century since I was last summoned. I would ask who it is but knowing that only you are the keeper of the contract between us. It can only be you Naruto. It's been a long time. Why the sudden summons? I don't feel danger." Gamabunta seemed very talkative tonight as he puffed at his pipe and his dagger already drawn at the slightest feeling of danger. "I came to give you something in memory of Ero-sennin. It is his death day today and I made this for you since I know you miss him as much as I do." Naruto said as he took the painting beneath his arm and jumped straight onto Gamabunta's nose. The large frog observed the small painting, but his good eyes made out the tiny details. "Thank you Naruto; I'm sure he would have loved it, had he seen it." The large toad boss rumbled and Naruto murmured a sad 'yeah' before sitting on Gamabunta's nose. "How are you Bunta?" Naruto asked quietly; needing to know that the toad mountain was still safely hidden from all eyes. "As alright as we can be. We're still hidden and out of harms way and the village goes on as usual. I can sense your unrest boy, something is wrong and you are bearing the burden by yourself again." Gamabunta berated his only human friend as he watched those sad blue eyes flicker with many different emotions. "I'm trying to sort through my emotions but they seem to be overwhelming me lately. Especially today; I can barely keep the tears away at the single thought of Jiraiya-sensei." Bunta made a humming noise in agreement before using his tongue to deposit Naruto on his back where he felt the human curl up against his hakama and slow tears fell on him. He knew Naruto was tortured and there was nothing much that he could do to help his friend as he was too big to live in this world and he wasn't very good with emotions. Maybe his familiarity to Naruto's past would help bring comfort but the large toad doubted that. ~ As the sun shimmered on the horizon Naruto felt wrung out after his emotional turmoil stained with his tears. Naruto bent his head and whispered a soft prayer for his dead sensei. Gamabunta was quiet and supportive and helped Naruto to the ground before preparing to disappear again. "Thanks Bunta; I needed that. That painting is larger; I just compressed it to be able to carry it around. The seals should be released by the time you reach home. Look after it for me and say hi to everyone there and tell them I miss them." Bunta gave a nod; waved goodbye and disappeared in a poof. Taking with him a part of Naruto's sadness that the Kyuubi container didn't even know he had. The lonely ride towards his estate was filled with conviction and sadness and it felt as if Naruto was returning to a whispered nightmare. Feeling tired and worn Naruto's eyes were blood red with Kyuubi's chakra and yet the familiar warmth through his body was a welcoming feeling. It was the large fox's manner in giving him comfort by letting Naruto know that he was still there. ------------------------------------------------ 'Ya know kit; at least you found someone important to you.' Kyuubi said as Naruto got ready to climb into bed. Naruto gave a wary sigh as he turned on his side, the feather pillow hugged close to his chest. The feelings bubbling up in his chest at the mention of Minato's presence; could it be so wrong to love in such a short period of time? Guilt bubbling up in his chest at the mere thought of his father. Naruto had to admit that his love no longer ran platonic at all; with every charismatic smile and a look from gentle eyes Naruto felt his heart beat faster and his breath hitch at Minato's beauty. "Kyuubi is it wrong to love someone in such short amount of time?" Naruto asked with sorrow laced in his words. Fear and conviction clearly resonating from within his soul. He heard Kyuubi chuckle at his words before answering his question. His answer not many would expect from a demon. 'Love is love, kit. Whether it is a day in the making or a thousand years. But I think you know how long you have been in love don't you kit?' "Close to a thousands years Kyuubi." Naruto admitted softly. The moment he dared not erase from his memory; the moment that meant so much to him and gave him strength when time seemed to cease for his existence. A forbidden love that he now realised he had harboured for more than nine hundred years. "Is there something wrong for harbouring romantic feelings towards my father?" Naruto asked brokenly, the consequences of his emotions seemingly to take their toll on his awareness of love. It hurt him and felt as he needed to dismiss these feelings and cast the aside as the guilt of seemed to eat him from the inside out. 'I cannot answer than kit and you know it. You need to learn that by yourself.' Naruto groaned; Kyuubi could be so vague sometimes that it left Naruto frustrated and helpless. "Fine you fur ball. Be like that; see if I talk to you for the next week." Naruto warned as he turned on his stomach, still hugging his pillow close and promptly fell into a deep sleep; even as the sunlight streamed in-between the gaps of his curtains he did not wake nor did he stir. The days events were tiring and after his revelation Naruto had no more strength to even think properly. Into his dream he fell with a welcoming embrace. For once urging happier memories to visit him. Sleeping peacefully and dreaming for once of a nostalgic moment in time where he was acknowledged for the first time by Iruka-sensei. 'Naruto is one of my best students. He's hardworking and kind; therefore he will never be the monster you perceive him to be!' Those words like a soothing waterfall across his aching heart where he thought love and happiness had faded completely and was replaced by only sorrow and unhappiness. A peaceful and calming dream to sooth his spent emotions and his inclination to bring himself harm in any way possible. Maybe this time he would finally be able to die happily. ------------------------------------------- Thanks for the read and let me know if you enjoyed this chapter. I did, especially writing Gamabunta; I have a secret crush on the big toad lols.
