Summary: Sasuke has a nightmare. Pairing: Light Naruto x Sasuke Rating: PG-13 Warnings: Pre-time skip, nightmares, blood. Hm… A/N: This is ‘’Convictions’, the third vignette I’ve made. So far it’s up to eighty-two. Here’s the third short story. I’ll Be Your Distraction Blood was everywhere. It was on him, on the floor, splattered on the walls. Itachi stood in the center of it all, looking at him blankly, seeing right through him. Sasuke started to back away, his body trembling as tears ran down his face. Itachi pulled a long sword from his back, the blade shining threateningly in the moonlight filtering in from outside. “Aniki.” He sobbed, clenching his eyes shut to will the image of his dead parents away as Itachi started to move towards him. “Aniki, no. P-Please don’t kill me. Please, Aniki!” Sasuke shot up in his sleeping bag, eyes wild and stained with tears as he looked around, slightly disoriented. He remembered where he was and relaxed, but only by a smidgen. “Y-You okay, bastard?” A shaky voice next to him stuttered out, making Sauske turn abruptly to hide the tears he knew were there. He hadn’t cried in front of Naruto before, and he wasn’t about to start now. “You were screaming in your sleep, Sasuke.” “Shut up, dobe.” Sasuke hissed in a watery voice, angry when more tears started to fall. He turned his back on Naruto in his sleeping bag, wiping his traitorous tears away with the back of his hand. A hand on his shoulder made him flinch, and when a warm body slid next to his, Sasuke elbowed the loudmouth in the ribs, trying to get him to move so he could sleep. “Just relax, asshole.” Naruto whispered against his neck, his breath making the raven’s skin erupt in goose bumps. It was an odd feeling. “I’ll stay here until you fall asleep again.” The blonde nuzzled his forehead into Sasuke’s hair, tightening his hold on the boy. Sasuke reluctantly let him stay there, too exhausted to argue. He sighed in resignation, burrowing himself further into Naruto’s warmth and closing his eyes.
