Leaf Café Chapter 4
--
Itachi slightly smiled as his lover tried to pull himself closer to him. He always found it adorable how Kyuubi would try to press their bodies closer together even though he was already half way on top of him. It was times like these that he felt relaxed. But he knew it wouldn’t last long. The talk he had earlier with his father was still buzzing in his head.
Itachi wasn’t sure what to do about his father’s request. He didn’t want to accept for his own selfish reasons but he didn’t want to decline for his brothers sake. If he declined then it would all fall onto Sasuke’s shoulders and that was a burden he didn’t want his little brother to have. But he had his own dreams and ambitions to carry out. And then there was Kyuubi. If he accepted, Kyuubi couldn’t be a part of his life anymore.
The thought of being without him was like death. Kyuubi became his light and warmth. He became his strength. He could keep going as long as Kyuubi was there. So many times he felt like giving up, but the thought of Kyuubi’s warm smile kept him strong. And he needed to stay strong not only for himself but for Kyuubi and Sasuke. Sasuke is his only reason for staying in that hell called home.
Itachi knew he couldn’t leave Sasuke there for his father to prey on. To mold into the perfect tool that would succeed him. Sasuke would become just as cold and cruel as their father and just as manipulative as their mother. Sasuke has already become quite cold and uncaring and very manipulative but he still has a long way before he could become what their parents want. Itachi sighed as he thought about it.
These thoughts were burdening him more and more each time he thought about them. He wasn’t sure what to do. His thoughts were leading him nowhere. Kyuubi heard his dark-haired lover sigh and cracked his eyes open.
“What’s wrong love?” Itachi placed a kiss on Kyuubi’s forehead then smiled reassuringly at him.
“Nothing. Go back to sleep.” Kyuubi frowned as he quickly sat up and spoke in a low menacing tone.
“You’re lying! Now tell me the truth.” Itachi sighed as he ran his hand through his hair.
“Fine.”

Neji panted as he watched Sasuke from the corner of his eye shoot the ball. He was exhausted from practicing and wanted to take a break but Sasuke just seemed to keep going. He never thought his raven haired friend could have so much stamina.
“What’s wrong? Is the great Hyuuga Neji tired already?” Sasuke asked in a mocking tone. Neji huffed as he wiped the sweat from his brow.
“Shut it Uchiha.” Sasuke smirked as he watched Neji walk over to the park bench.
“Done already? And I was just getting warmed up.” Neji growled as he sat down on the bench.
“I’m taking a break.” Sasuke shrugged his shoulders and started to dribble the ball.
“Whatever. You take your break and I’ll keep practicing.” Neji snorted as he watched Sasuke continue practicing for a moment before pulling out his cell phone. He looked over to make sure Sasuke wasn’t looking and quickly sent a text message to Itachi. He put his phone away and stood up to stretch before walking back onto the basketball court.
------------------
Naruto yawned as he opened the café door with Gaara trudging behind him. He quickly smiled as he looked over to the counter to say his normal greeting but faltered when he noticed the worried look on Iruka’s face.
Gaara noticed Naruto didn’t say his normal loud morning greeting and looked over at the blonde then over at Iruka. He frowned as he walked over behind the counter and started to get things ready for the morning rush. He decided it wasn’t his business to find out what was wrong with the brown haired man and he wasn’t about to get involved. Naruto couldn’t help but want to know why Iruka was so sad looking and walked over to the counter and sat down in front of him.
“Are you ok?” Iruka looked into Naruto’s blue eye’s and sadly smiled.
“I’m just worried about Kakashi. He didn’t come home last night and he hasn’t called. Nothing for you to worry about but thanks for your concern.” Naruto frowned a little but nodded. He didn’t want to press the issue but he was still worried. He slid off the stool and went into the back room to put his stuff away.
---------------------------
Sasuke felt a vein throbbing in his head as some lady spread hot wax on his legs and his brother stood there to make sure he didn’t leave. Some times he wished he was an only child and right now was one of those times. He would make Itachi and Neji pay for this. Yes Neji would pay too, because he knew it was Neji that got this little information from a certain panda looking freak! Information about a certain blue-eyed blonde liking guys with hairless legs.
--------------------------------------
Gaara groaned as Naruto lead him through the crowd of people by his sleeve. He really didn’t want to go but if he didn’t Naruto and Temari would be sure to make the rest of his life a living hell. Not that it already wasn’t but they’d make it much worse. Naruto wasn’t very happy. They were late because Gaara had to be slow about getting around so the game had already started.
Naruto smiled as he saw Temari and hurriedly pushed his way to her while pulling Gaara along behind him. Temari smiled when she saw them and laughed when she saw Naruto pulling Gaara along like he was a pouting little kid that didn’t get his way. Temari moved her stuff off the spots she had saved for Naruto and Gaara as they got to her.
Gaara rolled his eyes as he sat down next to Temari while Naruto sat down on his other side placing Gaara between the two basketball crazed idiotic blondes. Naruto smiled at Temari as he yelled over the crowd of people.
“Thanks for saving us a place to sit!”
“Your welcome!” Temari yelled back. Naruto turned his attention to the game and immediately started looking for Sasuke. It didn’t take long for him to spot him and he smiled happily as noticed that Sasuke’s hair wasn’t blonde anymore. To him Sasuke looks better with his black hair. Naruto frowned as he realized he just thought Sasuke looked good. He wasn’t supposed to think that about another guy. The half time buzzer rang and the teams got off the floor and went to their locker rooms.
-------------------------
Sasuke was happy half time was over. He wanted to get back on that court and get this game over with. His team was already ahead in points and he was getting bored. He should have known that this game wasn’t going to be anything challenging but he couldn’t turn down a challenge. He’s an Uchiha and Uchiha don’t turn down any challenges. As Sasuke walked back onto the basketball court he looked around at the crowd of people there and smirked when he saw Naruto.
He didn’t expect to see the blonde there but that’s fine. The third quarter of the game started and everything seemed to be normal to him. Boring, dull, no challenge to his skill at all, but there was one thing different. He noticed that Naruto was watching him. The blonde never watched anyone else, just him. Sasuke inwardly smirked as he decided on showing off a bit.
-----------------------
Naruto watched anxiously as Sasuke stole the ball and took off down the court with everyone chasing after him. But they weren’t fast enough as Sasuke got to his end of the floor. Naruto stood up as he watched Sasuke jump up and dunk the ball. Naruto stood there in awe for a moment as he watched Sasuke hang from the hoop while the people around stood up and cheered while the girls screamed about their undying love for the raven. Naruto couldn’t help but think how amazing Sasuke looked at that moment.
----------------------
Sasuke could care less for cheers and screams of the crowd as he hung from the basketball hoop. He looked out from the corner of his eye hoping to see a certain blonde still watching and was delighted when he found that Naruto still was. He smirked as he turned his face so Naruto could see him looking at him and let go of the hoop to drop down to the floor.
He continued to stare into Naruto’s eyes as he dropped down to the floor. When he landed on the floor he ran a hand through his hair causing all the girls to scream louder. Sasuke didn’t care for their screams of devotion to him. His objective wasn’t one of them. Naruto was the one he wanted swooning for him. Sasuke then winked at blue-eyed blonde causing Naruto’s face to turn red. Sasuke’s smirk grew bigger as he saw this.
------------------------
Naruto couldn’t stop himself from blushing like a shy school girl as he sat back down. Gaara looked at him questioningly but Naruto just avoided his gaze. He wasn’t sure if Sasuke actually winked at him or even if the raven was staring at him throughout that entire time, but the thought of it made him feel like he had butterflies in his stomach.
Naruto could hear the girls all around him arguing that about whom Sasuke winked at, even Temari claimed that Sasuke winked at her. The thought of Sasuke winking at any of them made Naruto feel a little depressed. He felt the butterflies in his stomach dying the more he thought about it. “What the hell am I thinking!?” Naruto thought as he shook his head furiously. “I’m not gay! So why should I care who that bastard winks at or even flirts with!? I don’t care!” Naruto smiled as he nodded his head.
Gaara, who was watching the whole thing, was starting to wonder about his friends sanity. Sure he wasn’t exactly the sanest person but Naruto looked as if he was conversing with someone invisible. Naruto noticed Gaara was looking at him strangely.
“What? Is there something on my face?” Gaara shook his head.
“No.”Gaara answered before turning his attention back to the game. Naruto shrugged as he realized that was all Gaara was going to say. He then started to watch the game again and immediately found Sasuke.
---------------------
Sasuke stood at the three-point line with very little time left on the clock. The people in the stands stood up as he shot the ball. The entire place was silent as they watched the ball hit the backboard then the edge of the rim before falling in through it just as the buzzer signaling the end of the game sounded. Sasuke just smirked as everyone cheered their hearts out and his team-mates ran over to him, all saying praise about how good he was and what a great shot that was.
Even though the ball went in and the points counted, Sasuke knew it didn’t matter. They were already winning by twenty-eight points. Sasuke then looked around at the bleachers, searching for Naruto. He was disappointed though when he didn’t see the blonde anywhere. He pushed his way through his team-mates and the group of people that had ran down there to congratulate him. He didn’t want their admiration, he wanted Naruto to be admiring him right now, but instead the blonde wasn’t.
Sasuke looked around until he spotted Naruto and his red-head friend with some blonde girl and started to make his way over there but was stopped by a microphone being shoved in his face along with cameras’ and lights. It was the press. Sasuke moved his head until he could see where Naruto was and was disappointed to see that the blonde was no longer there. He frowned as he turned around and walked toward the locker room with the press trying to keep up with him as they asked questions only to be ignored.
