Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Ok, FINALLY I’ve got another chapter done. Sorry it took so long. Party of Three kind of monopolized my time. If you haven’t read it yet, you should! I worked very hard on it. Hopefully updates will be more frequent now. Side note: I think I spelled all the character’s names right this time. If not, just bear with me. Hopfully they are close enough that you can distinguish what they are actually supposed to be. Enjoy!

Let Me In
‘Shit shit shit shit shit shit SHIT!’ Sasuke thought to himself as he flew over the rooftops towards the hokage’s office.
The rate at which he was moving would put even Lee to shame but despite his light feet, his heart felt heavy. He had a feeling he knew exactly why Tsunade had summoned him and it had everything to do with the letter clutched tightly in his hand.
“Hey Sasuke, what the hell? Slow down will you?” Called Shikamaru from behind who was barely able to keep up with the speeding Uchiha.
Sasuke didn’t even look back as he raced towards Konoha’s central building that was rapidly drawing closer. Slowing down was not an option. He had to get there NOW. He had to fix this.
He had to fix it because it was all his fault.
~~~~~
Much to Tsunade’s annoyance, Naruto had taken to pacing back and forth in her office restlessly while waiting for Sasuke, all the while grumbling things that Tsunade could only hear bits and pieces of. From what she could make out, they were very unflattering remarks about his sharingan using team mate.
The hokage was just about to tell the blonde shinobi to sit down and shut up when her door flew open with a bang and Sasuke barged into the room. Naruto whirled around was ready to open his mouth with a barrage of questions. Sasuke sent him a warning look that wordlessly told him to can it if he knew what was good for him before returning his attention to the blonde woman behind the desk.
“That was quite a dramatic entrance Sasuke,” She said with a raised eyebrow. “I assume Shikamaru briefed you and why you were summoned here?”
“Before you ask me any more questions, please read this.” The still pale ninja said, offering her the letter with slightly trembling fingers.
Tsunade silently took the letter but gave the Uchiha a strange look. Sasuke just folded his arms and waited for her response.
Naruto took his place beside Sasuke and scrutinized the hokage’s expression, noticing how her eyes widened in shock, no…fear?
“What does it say?” Naruto asked eagerly. “Is it about Sakura? Where is she?”
“Shut up.” Sasuke said sharply.
Tsunade took a deep breath as her eyes slid shut after reading the words on the scroll. The situation was suddenly far worse than she had expected. Sakura hadn’t just gone missing; she had been kidnapped by one of the most dangerous ninjas that ever walked Fire Country. Even with all her power and knowledge, she highly doubted she could beat Itachi. She didn’t think Sasuke and Naruto stood much of a chance either, even after all the strength they had gained over the years. She let her head rest in her hands and tried not to succumb to the hopelessness and helplessness she suddenly felt.
“Come on Granny, what does is say?” Naruto whined impatiently.
The hokage wordlessly pushed the scroll towards the young shinobi, urging him to read it himself.
Naruto plucked the scroll off the desk and began to read the characters hand written in strong, elegant script.
“Hello little brother.
It’s been some time hasn’t it? I hope you didn’t think I’d forgotten about you because nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact I count the days until I can see you again and finish what I should have done long ago. I will face you in battle and kill you as I killed the rest of our clan, that is, unless you have found a way to overcome your pathetic weakness and defeat me. You will meet me in two weeks time at a place of my choosing and you will bring Naruto with you. To ensure you adhere to my rules, I have taken a little cherry blossom under my wing for the time being. Don’t worry dear brother, I have been taking good care of her. I find you quite foolish for turning away the affections of such a lovely little thing, a mistake I do not intend to replicate. If you wish to see her alive and unharmed you will do as I say. If not, I guess I could always take on an apprentice. I’m sure I could bend her will quite easily. The choice is yours little brother, but if you don’t come to me, I will come to you and I can’t promise our meeting won’t ensue in a place where others might get hurt. I will see you in two weeks.
Itachi
Naruto let out a breath he hadn’t realized he had been holding. Itachi? Wasn’t he the same man who had put both Sasuke and Kakashi in a coma-like-state for over a week? The one who had come with a funny fish-like man and tried to take him away to who knows where? That guy was beyond evil and now he had Sakura? And why did he want HIM to come along too? Naruto’s mind was slowed by shock as he struggled to process it all.
“Sasuke?” he said a little lamely, hoping the Uchiha could clear things up a bit.
At first, the shinobi beside him didn’t answer. He stood, jaw clenched, fists balled at his sides in barely contained rage as he struggled to keep himself calm.
“He’s really gone too far this time.” He said darkly, softly, his voice laced dangerously with venom. “It’s one thing to threaten me but to take Sakura…I WILL kill him for this. I swear it.”
Tsunade could hear the hate in the young Uchiha’s voice and winced. That very same emotion is what had destroyed him the first time. After all these years, she had hoped that he might have realized that hate did more damage to one’s self than to make one stronger, yet his brother seemed to want Sasuke to embrace his hatred and feed off it and had found the perfect way to manipulate him into doing just that. Although Sasuke had never shown much affection for his pink haired team mate, he was now clearly worried about her and probably regretting taking her for granted, especially after what Itachi had written. The younger shinobi was being taunted, dared to try and stop his brother’s actions and Tsunade had no doubt that the enraged Sasuke would play right into his brother’s plan, throwing caution to the wind. That was precisely why she wasn’t about to let him go.
“Sasuke,” she said sharply, raising her head from her hands. “You will NOT go off to meet him, do you understand? Despite the vast improvement in your skills and techniques, you are no match for your brother and I will not have this village loose another ninja if it can be avoided.”
Naruto, for once in his life, sat quietly, watching the conversation between the blonde woman and his team mate. Sasuke’s features were unreadable, his head tilted downwards slightly with his hair obscuring most of his face. The cold, steely tone he spoke in however was unmistakable.
“This is not your fight Tsunade.” He said, his voice as cold and dangerous as the point of a kunai blade.
If the hokage was angry at Sasuke’s lack of respect in using her first name, she did not show it. She just stared at him levelly, making her own voice as hard as his.
“But your well being IS my concern, and I will not have you throwing your life away after this village risked so much to bring you back.”
“My life is mine to do with what I please.” Sasuke growled.
“Your life, first and foremost, is serving your village as a Konoha ninja!” Tsunade countered, raising her voice angrily. “The moment you put on that forehead protector, you made the promise that you would fight for something bigger than yourself Sasuke. I am going to make you keep that promise. You will not go to him.”
“And what about Sakura?” Sasuke yelled in outrage, is calm resolve finally broken. “Are you just going to leave her with…HIM?” he spat the word as if it were the most disgusting thing imaginable. “You don’t know him like I do. If we leave her with my brother, he WILL kill her. He may have some fun with her first, but he will dispose of anything that is no longer profitable to him. Look what he did to my clan, to my family!”
Sasuke couldn’t believe what he was hearing. How could the hokage abandon her own apprentice like this. Didn’t she care for her at ALL after all the time they had spent together? Sasuke admitted he had been mean, hell, downright cruel to the girl at times and now he regretted every moment. He was determined to bring her back safely because, no matter what anybody tried to tell him, it was his own fault she had been taken in the first place. If only he had walked her home that night…
“I will not abandon her Sasuke.” Tsunade answered quietly. “I will send out every scout we can afford, I will meet him myself if I have to but you will not go Sasuke. That is final.”
Naruto finally ended his silent streak with “Gosh Granny, do you really think you can beat him? I know you’re tough but…”
“You’re a fool.” Sasuke interrupted, lifting his head to fix angry black eyes on honey brown. “Do you really think Itachi would waste his time with anyone but me? The instant he sees that I’m not coming, he will snap Sakura like a twig, and then perhaps, destroy the whole village just to punish me for breaking disobeying him.”
Naruto’s eyes widened at the thought of such harm coming to his friend. He blurted out, “Granny Tsunade, we HAVE to save Sakura! Sasuke and I are supposed to go together anyways together! Maybe the two of us can—”
“You idiot! Don’t you see he just wants you for the demon that’s inside of you? All you mean to him is power.”
“Well you can’t beat him by yourself so having me there is something you’ll have to accept!” Naruto countered.
“Who says I can’t beat him? And what makes you think I’d ever need YOUR help?” Sasuke yelled.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” Tsunade yelled, standing up so abruptly that she knocked her chair over as she slammed her palms flat on the desk, threatening to dent the very solid wood. “Sasuke, I have HAD it with your insubordination. I am placing you under constant surveillance until we can clear up this mess.”
Sasuke opened his mouth to argue but she cut him off.
“If you utter one more word Sasuke Uchiha, I will personally strip you of your title as a Konoha shinobi and make you work at the ramen shop for all eternity!”
Naruto began to snicker before the blonde woman turned her rage on him.
“And YOU! You are NOT setting a foot outside of Konoha until this is resolved. Is that clear? Disobey me and I will BAN you from the ramen shop for all eternity.”
The smirk was instantly wiped from Naruto’s face.
“And as for you Shikamaru,” Tsunade said, turning her attention to the man standing calmly just inside the open door. “Fetch Kakashi for me. He has a new assignment.”
The pony tailed man had been standing there listening to most of the conversation, smart enough to know that that fiery fight between Sasuke and the hokage was not something he should get involved in. At receiving his orders to get Kakashi, he gave a nod and left.
“You wouldn’t.” Sasuke said, wide eyed.
“Oh she would.” Naruto said, impressed by Tsunade’s deviousness. “Looks like Kakashi is going to be your baby sitter Sasuke.”
It took every fiber of the Uchiha’s self control not to kill Naruto on the spot.
“Naruto, you are dismissed. Sasuke, you will remain here until Kakashi arrives and he will then escort you back home. Shizumi?”
“Yes Miss?” her assistant asked as she poked her head through the door.
“Get me a list of all available ninjas of all levels.” Tsunade commanded. “We have a lot of area to search.”
~~~~~
Itachi smirked as he sent the petite ninja flying through the air to land on her feet in a cat-like crouch several dozen feet away. The little kunoichi proved to be more skilled than he had first thought. She even managed to disable his entire left arm with a single blow, obviously a medical technique that shut down all the nerves in his tingling appendage temporarily. Not that it really mattered. He was still easily deflecting her attacks with one hand, but he had learned that underestimating the pink haired ninja was not a smart thing to do.
Her skills weren’t the only thing he’d been wrong about. The strength of her will also proved greater than he had originally conceived. He thought after her initial breaking, she would be as good as his, bound to him by treacherous thoughts he had planted in her mind. However, he soon discovered that the oddest things would trigger a relapse back into her former self. Sometimes it was something he said or something she saw. Sometimes it was a blow she received during training and one time, she even turned against him as he was using her body, causing him to have to force her back down to the bed before she tried to make an escape. Each time the situation had been easily rectified by forcing the sharingan on her on her once again, re-tainting her mind and returning her to her state of submission. It was easy enough to fix and it’s not like she posed any real threat, even when she wasn’t on his side. But still. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. She wasn’t supposed to continue fighting him. This turn of events flawed his previously perfect plan and the fact unnerved him. Everything had been under his control and now it wasn’t. She had put a small crack in the ornate vision he had created, yet he highly doubted it was enough to make it shatter. All the same, he was forced to keep an extremely close eye on the kunoichi, especially since she could turn any minute.
Sakura was now charging him again and leapt into the air only to teleport behind him. He was too powerful to need the sharingan to see such a trick and easily caught her punch in the hand that wasn’t hanging uselessly at his side. He flung her away but she bounded right back, attacking him with a flurry of rapid punches but he blocked them all, each connecting with his forearm that was moving just as rapidly to absorb the bulk of her blows. He then countered with a swift elbow to her jaw that sent her sprawling backwards to the ground where she lay momentarily stunned.
It hadn’t been the first, fifth or even fifteenth time that Itachi had knocked her on her ass today. Even with only one arm and the sharingan deactivated he had thrown, kicked, blasted, pushed, hurled and now elbowed her to the forest floor more times than he could count. He stood over her now, watching her heaving chest and her quivering body, a sign that betrayed her fatigue. Itachi wasn’t surprised. They had been at it for nearly five hours.
He sunk to one knee and crawled on top of her exhausted form, holding his weight with the hand that wasn’t limp.
A thin trickle of blood oozed from the lip he had just split, and he dipped his head to lap it up, excited by the sight of it and the pain he knew he must have caused. Further aroused by her feeble struggles to push him off of her, he wedged a knee between her thighs forcefully, prying them apart so he could grind against her, instantly earning himself an astonished gasp.
Her body instantly responded to him, arching against his touch as he pushed his knee against her core. He knew she was this responsive only because he had programmed her to be, but her reactions didn’t make it any less fun or her any less enticing. She was his toy and he intended to use her well and use her hard before he had to get rid of her.
Seeing the new flush in her cheeks and knowing she was sufficiently turned on, he moved off of her.
“Get up.” He ordered, as he himself took up a fighting stance, minus the use of one arm.
Aroused and obviously a little confused, Sakura righted herself on wobbly legs and prepared to attack him again.
When she did, Itachi smirked. She had grown careless and was making too many mistakes, no doubt because she was distracted by the liquid heat between her legs. Roughing her up was growing boring anyway so he decided to change tactics.
When she unleashed a roundhouse kick directed at his face, he easily caught her foot and hauled her off the ground, spinning her around his own head twice before hurling her against a tree. Her back connected to wood with a sharp WHACK before she sunk to the ground, motionless.
Itachi was emotionless as he casually walked towards the beaten kunoichi, save for the small smirk on his lips. He crouched down at her side and lightly caressed her cheek as she struggled to open her eyes.
“You get distracted too easily my dear.” He aid softly, pushing a lock of bloodied hair from her face.
Sakura was silent except for her labored breathing and he searched her eyes carefully for any signs of rebellion in them. Finding none, he presented her with his limp arm.
“Fix it.” He commanded.
When she continued to sit unmoving, he grasped a fistful of her hair and jerked her towards him firmly. “Sakura.” He growled warningly.
Forcing her battered body to comply, she drew from her nearly empty chakura reserves and touched his useless arm with glowing fingers, correcting the nerves and muscles she had previously disabled.
Itachi flexed and stretched his arm experimentally, satisfied with her work. Having a jutsu like that at his disposal might not be such a bad idea, but for now, his attention was on other things, like how blood was running from her lips again and how her breathlessness was not due entirely to exhaustion. She was still worked up and Itachi knew it.
Keeping a hand tangled in her hair, he brought his lips to hers, smirking as she winced at his tongue running over her cut. He tasted her blood, coving his tongue in the coppery sweet taste of it. For some reason, it made him want her more and he was in no mood to be gentle about it.
In one movement, he flipped her so she was facedown in the grass, with her knees bent and her tight little ass presented to him. He grabbed the waistband of her shorts and slid them down over the delicious curve of her butt and down to her knees, not even bothering to take them off completely. Just as he had expected, she was already wet for him, betrayed by the glistening moisture that had gathered around her entrance and Itachi was willing to bet a small puddle resided in her shorts as well.
He let two fingers move to spread her lips wide, his smirk growing as more of her juices oozed out onto his fingers as she tried to suppress a needy moan.
“Your mind has been on other things when it should have been on training.” He said almost reproachfully, even though he had purposely worked her into a frenzy.
“I-I’m sorry.” Sakura whimpered, squirming at the feel of being touched.
“Such disobedience deserves punishment.” Itachi sneered, letting his free hand deftly undo the fly of his own pants and pull out his rapidly hardening length.
“Itachi?” Sakura panted, wanting his fingers spreading her apart to be buried in her instead, she cold feel the cool air on her sex and it only served to make her more painfully aware of the heat and wetness emanating from her core. She pushed herself up in her hands and pushed back against him, hoping to find some relief from her burning arousal.
The Uchiha grabbed both of her wrists and pinned them behind her back with one of his own hands in a way that would prove very painful if she struggled. She turned her head to the side to avoid getting a face full of grass and let her cheek lay softly in the greenery. Seeing her like this, helpless and obviously horny caused Itachi’s member to throb in his hand. Tired of wasting time, he guided it to her dripping entrance and pushed into her forcefully, sinking into her deliciously silky body with one hard stroke.
Sakura let out a guttural moan of pleasure and writhed as much as her restrained position would allow.
Itachi once again smirked at her obvious need and easy compliance. Her scalding insides instantly gripped him, sucking him deeper into her greedy body. Not a resistant bone resided in her and that’s how Itachi liked it.
“That’s it Sakura,” he crooned as she continued to moan as he pulled is hips back only to thrust forward again roughly. “Show me how much you like it when I’m inside you.”
Sakura continued to cry out as he took her forcibly from behind, twisting weakly in his iron grip. The wet sound of him entering and exiting her body was clearly audible above the twittering birds and wind in the trees.
“You’ve been waiting for this all day haven’t you?” The dark shinobi asked smugly thrusting his hips sharply to earn a cry of surprise. “Admit it, you like it when I do this to you, force you take me into you like this.”
Getting only moans in response, he slapped her ass hard enough to mar her creamy skin with a red welt. “Answer me!” he growled.
“Yes Itachi!” Sakura cried, tears beginning to leak from her eyes at the combined pain and pleasure from being used so roughly. “Yes I like it.”
The Uchiha was pumping into her so hard that her cheek was dragging back and forth in the grass. Her back wall inside of her was beginning to feel a little raw from being rammed into so harshly but the pleasure kept intensifying. No matter what Itachi did to her, she always managed to find pleasure in it. Sometimes he took her hard and fast, almost violently so, and sometimes he would move torturously slow until she thought she would go mad. The worst is when he put her on top but only allowed her to move at his pace, which was usually so slow she was literally crying in need by the time he allowed her release, but the experiences were always filled with intense, mind-numbing pleasure that left her totally drained, yet craving more. She could feel that pleasure wash over her now as her muscles started to contract around him.
“Don’t cum until I say.” Itachi ordered, feeling her tighten around his pistoning length, intent on making her beg a little before allowing her full release.
Sakura moaned in protest. Already the heat and pressure was growing unbearable. She longed to feel the wonderful waves of pleasure she knew he could grant her.
After a few more moments of rough pounding and no permission from him, Sakura grew desperate.
“Itachi please…” she panted, feeling her stomach clench as the ball of fire residing there begged to be released.
“No.” The Uchiha smirked as she trembled helplessly under his assault.
Sakura fought to blink back the fresh set of tears that were spilling from her eyes at the feeling of being so close but so far. Her body was his and she couldn’t do anything if he didn’t allow it, but god she needed it so bad.
“Itachi PLEASE! Let me cum!” she moaned as he released his grip on her wrists and placed both hands on her hips to hold her steady while he hammered in and out of her violently.
“Just a little longer.” He smirked, loving the raw need in her pleading voice that made it so obvious she was totally under his control.
Hands now free, she pushed herself up on all fours and arched her back as he continued to take her from behind. Her core felt white hot and ready to burst at any second, the pleasure bordered on pain as the heat threatened to burn her in its intensity.
“ITACHI PLEASE!” she screamed as her body began jerking of its own accord as it sought release.
“Very well. You may cum Sakura.”
He had hardly finished the sentence before she was screaming at the top of her lungs as her body shuddered in contractions that were just as violent as the thrustings of the man behind her. Her hands fisted in the grass, uprooting it by handfuls as she experienced wave after wave of blinding, soul shattering pleasure.
“OH GOOOOOD!” she cried out as she collapsed to the ground, overcome by the sensations that coursed through her.
Itachi felt her energy signature dwindle to nearly nothing and knew she had passed out. He pumped in and out of her a few more times before he emptied his body into hers with a growl. Exhausted, he pulled out of her lifeless body and sat back on his heels, watching the milky liquid of their combined juices leak from her now enflamed opening.
Today had been a good day of training. Despite her inability to land more than a couple of punches on him, she was indeed improving. Her speed and strength had grown and she had all but mastered the few ninjutsus he had showed her. He didn’t doubt that if he spent any long amount of time seriously training her, she could easily surpass his pitiful brother, even without the sharingan. But alas, time was not something either of them had a lot of, Sakura especially. Her days were numbered.
She had already been with him for over a week and in just a few days, this game would end. Sasuke would be dead, Naruto would be in his possession and his pretty little kunoichi would have to be eliminated from the picture. A pity really; he had come to enjoy the presence of his new pet.
Itachi sighed inwardly as he tucked his now wilted length back into his pants and pulled Sakura’s shorts back up into their proper position.
Poor Sasuke, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
It wasn’t that he hated his brother, in fact, the opposite was true. Sasuke was still his little brother after all, the one who had looked up to him all those years they had grown up together. He could still picture him now, wide eyed and in wonder of his older brother, the Uchiha prodigy. It was just disappointing his brother was so weak. He had so much potential and yet last time they had met, Itachi found he was still the whimpering child he had spared all those years ago. The older man wanted to test his skills against that of the last authentic sharingan and if Sasuke was found lacking, then he deserved to die, plain and simple. However, Itachi couldn’t resist the prospect of making an interesting and enticing game out of it, especially when it could gain him the boy with the kyuubi and a sexy little kunoichi to make his personal plaything. He did these things simply because he could, because he was capable, and he wanted to see just how far he could go. In a few days, he would find out.
With Sakura once again properly clothed and still passed out, Itachi rose and slung the woman over his shoulder carelessly, heading back to his make shift headquarters with plans to make the pretty young shinobi scream his name again and soon as she regained consciousness.
~~~~~
“Would you stop reading those books already? It’s getting ridiculous.”
“While some people prefer vengeance and power, I prefer Icha Icha.”
“I think my interests are a little nobler that yours Kakashi.”
An uninterested “Hmmph.” Was the only reply Sasuke recieved.
The younger man gritted his teeth and for the tenth time that day forced himself to remain calm instead of beating his former teacher to a pulp.
Ever since Tsunade had ordered Kakashi to keep watch on him, the Uchiha hadn’t known the definition of privacy. When he ate, he slept, he brushed his teeth, hell, even when he peed, Kakashi never let him out of his sight and slept only when he was sure Sasuke was asleep. The slightest change in the younger man’s breathing pattern would awaken the Copy Ninja so Sasuke was literally watched his every waking moment.
Well, almost every moment.
Since Sasuke preferred to stay home more instead of being seen around town with Kakashi constantly babysitting him, Naruto had begun visiting the Uchiha estate and for once, Sasuke was glad for the overly zealous blonde’s company. Anyone’s company was better at the moment than his pervert watchdog who at the moment was reading by flashlight on his bedroll on the floor while Sasuke stared up at the ceiling from his own bed.
With no one else to turn to, Sasuke had grudgingly formed an alliance with the whiskered man, conspiring against their former teacher much like in the days when the three members of Team 7 had tried to see under his mask. Only now things were much more seriously and hopefully this time they would be a bit more successful.
Their first victory had been just a few days ago. Naruto had come to visit and had tried to drag them both out for ramen. When Sasuke had sulkily declared that he hated ramen, they had settled for a shop that offered a little bit of everything, although Naruto whined about how their noodles weren’t nearly as good as Ichiraku’s.
During their meal, Naruto had subtly jerked his head towards the bathroom with finesse unusual for the blonde ninja. Kakashi hadn’t even noticed it, so minute was the movement; but it read loud and clear to Sasuke who, after finishing his meal, announced he was going to use the shop’s bathroom in the back.
“I gotta go too!” Naruto added crassly and Kakashi sighed.
“Can’t it wait until we get home?”
“No.” they boys answered in unison, Naruto beaming like a naughty child and Sasuke just looking annoyed.
As they walked to the men’s restroom, the blonde nudged Sasuke in the ribs teasingly.
“He even keeps an eye on you while you pee? That really must suck!”
“Shut up idiot.” Sasuke grumbled, although he noticed that his friend’s action displayed the tiniest bit of paper sticking out of his sleeve, obviously part of a larger document. The Uchiha suddenly realized that the whole point of this bathroom excursion was to find a way to give it to him without Kakashi noticing. Sasuke was mildly impressed by Naruto’s plan which was, for once, skillful.
When the two shinobi took their places side by side at the urinals, Kakashi stood facing them with his arms crossed.
Sasuke growled with aggravation. “Turn around Kakashi, we aren’t going anywhere. You don’t need to watch EVERYTHING you know.”
“Aw, am I making you uncomfortable Sasuke?” the Copy Ninja asked with an eye crease.
When the younger man’s face darkened with anger, Kakashi sighed and turned around.
“Alright, but make it quick.”
And they had, so quick in fact that their sensei didn’t even know it had occurred. Smoothly and soundlessly, as if they had practiced it a dozen times, Naruto slid the rolled document from his sleeve to Sasuke’s kunai pouch as they both relieved themselves. When they zipped their flies and began to head home, Kakashi was none the wiser.
The next challenge had been actually reading what was on the paper, since there was hardly a moment when Kakashi’s eye wasn’t on him. Sasuke finally got the opportunity when the jounin allowed him to take a shower by himself instead of hauling him down to the public bath house where he could constantly keep him in sight.
Though it had still been a risk, Sasuke brought the paper into the shower with him and kept it away from the spray long enough to determine there were in fact two pieces of paper. One was from his brother, the small hole in the top proving it must have been pinned to his door when Naruto found it. He was thankful Naruto had taken it before Kakashi discovered it because on it were instructions of where and when to meet Itachi to exchange a battle for Sakura’s life. The other piece of paper was in Naruto’s nearly illegible script, outlining a plan for the two of them to make an escape from Konoha and rescue Sakura together. After committing the contents of the papers to memory, Sasuke let them disintegrate under the shower’s spray and wash away down the drain.
Sasuke was hesitant to once again become a fugitive and even more hesitant to be stuck with the whiskered blonde, but had to admit, Naruto had actually used his head and cooked up a decent scheme this time. Now all they needed was the opportunity, which he hoped would come soon because time was running out before they were due to meet Itachi and it would take a couple of days to get where he had requested.
Bringing his mind back to the present, Sasuke cursed himself for the hundredth time for letting this happen. Why was it so hard for him to show a little affection, or at least sensitivity? It seemed the only things that ever came out of his mouth were cruel and belittling, especially where Sakura had been concerned. He was perfectly aware of her childhood infatuation with him and had lost count of the times he had deterred her none too gently. Now he was regretting taking her for granted. She was pretty and smart and strong in her own way and not in the least undesirable. Why the hell was he pushing her away?
‘Because you’re protecting her.’ His mind nagged, but Sasuke knew that wasn’t entirely it. Let’s face it, he’d done a swell job protecting her recently. Look at where she was now!
Put simply, he was afraid of anyone seeing the REAL Sasuke. While most people liked and admired him, even after all that had happened with Orochimaru, he knew they only like the façade Sasuke allowed them to see. He never talked about himself, about his past, about all the pain and suffering he had endured and still shouldered today. What would they all think if they saw how weak he really was?
‘Sakura wouldn’t think you weak.’ His mind nagged.
No, she wouldn’t. She could already see his pain and wanted to bear it with him. She wanted to find out everything about him and discover what made him tick. Most of all, she just wanted to be his friend, which in fact was all Sasuke had ever wanted: a friend.
‘Yet you’re afraid that loosing her would be more painful than never having her at all.’
Sasuke tried not to heave a frustrated sigh. His inner voice sure was talkative tonight.
He probably could have continued debating with himself for hours but a frantic knocking on the door roused him from his thoughts.
Kakashi put down his book and looked at Sasuke questioningly. “Expecting someone?”
Sasuke shook his head. “No. I don’t know who would be stupid enough to come calling this late either.
Kakashi made a move to get up but Sasuke stopped him.
“You’re already my babysitter. I don’t need you acting like some weird butler either.”
Despite his words, Kakashi still followed him to the entryway.
When the ornate door was opened, there stood Naruto, looking as cheerful as ever.
“Well, I guess that explains the ‘stupid’ part.” Sasuke muttered.
“Well this is unexpected.” The Copy Ninja said. “What are you doing here at nearly 11 at night?”
“Well,” Naruto said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. “Granny Tsunade sent me on an errand over here earlier but I kind of forgot about it until now. She’ll be pissed if I don’t bring back what she wants by tonight.”
“What do you want baka? I’m trying to go to sleep.” Sasuke said impatiently, acting as if he would slam the door in the blonde’s face at any second.
Seeing this, Naruto stepped inside, positioning himself on the other side of Kakashi as if to put a human shield between himself and his grumpy friend.
Sasuke let the door swing shut.
“She wanted to know if you had been contacted by Itachi again in any way. I mean, two weeks has almost passed and he said he would tell you where and when to meet him. Did he leave another paper on your door or something?”
“We haven’t seen anyth—” Kakashi started to say but Sasuke interrupted him.
“Oh, you mean THIS piece of paper?” Sasuke said, pulling a piece of paper out of his pocket.
“Wha—” Kakashi said astonished, unable to believe that Sasuke had managed to receive something so crucial without alerting him to it.
Sasuke had the Copy Ninja’s full attention and held the document out to him. Kakashi took the paper and had just barely read the single sentence on the page when he felt the dull end of a kunai hit him in the back of the head…HARD.
As he slumped to the floor unconscious, the paper fluttered to the floor from his lifeless fingers. The words scrawled across it ironically read:
Rule #1: Never let your guard down.
Omg I’m done at last! What an evil way to end the story huh? This chapter ran totally smoothly until the last scene, and then it was like pulling teeth trying to finish this thing. I had no idea the story was going to turn out this way but actually, I kind of like it. Yay, go me! I hope you guys enjoyed it but even if you didn’t, review it and let me know anyways. Part 5 coming…who knows when.
