Part 4: New
mutiny
Itachi had been
very unhappy with the failure of the mission and reprimanded Orochimaru
severely, which annoyed the snakelike man greatly. He knew that Itachi was more powerful than him now, but he
hated grovelling in front of someone who had once been so far below him. He still remembered Itachi as the
prodigy child, and he felt angry for letting himself becoming so subordinate to
this Uchiha brat. As his angered
flared, Orochimaru's crooked mind began to plot and soon he was chuckling
creepily.
*
Once
a year all the gangs gathered. It
was a day of truces as the gangs tried to settle their disputes non-violently
once annually. Most of the time
the agreements made were quickly broken, but the purpose of the meetings was not
peace, even if it was the pretence.
The real purpose of the meetings was to size up the enemy. To actually see the Kage's and their
potential successors in person, and to judge their leadership abilities from
their conduct and control during the meetings.
Because of that
fact, Naruto felt extremely proud as he sat with the Hokage at the Leaf's head
table. This showed that he was
finally being recognized as a strong fighter, who might one day be Hokage
himself. He knew he wasn't the
next in line, he suspected that one of the two geezers he had never seen
before, who were also sitting at the head table with them was. But he didn't care; just a little
recognition was enough for him.
Even though his father had been a Hokage, Naruto had always felt looked
down on by the rest of the gang.
He didn't know why, and could only blame it on being an orphan, though
that didn't really make sense.
Naruto had worked extraordinarily hard to get all the praise and
recognition he could, he'd been starved for it, and now he'd reached a position
where he was respected by most of his peers and gained the acknowledgment of
some of the adults, including the Hokage himself. He was grinning to himself as he watched the other gangs
take their seats at the tables in the warehouse.
His attention was
first drawn to the Sand gang's table and a very creepy boy with red hair and
murderous aquamarine eyes. Naruto
couldn't help but feel nervous looking at this boy, but his attention was soon
taken away by the entrance of Red Moon, and with them Sasuke.
For the sake of
knowing who belonged to which gang, everyone wore a headband with a metal plate
attached to it bearing the symbol of their gang. As Red Moon entered it caused a stir through the other
gangs. Red Moon was relatively new
and this was the first year they had been asked to attend. But Red Moon had neglected to make
their own headbands, instead they took the ones they had been given by their
former gangs and made a deep slash through the symbol upon it. The place soon filled with angry
murmurs as the other gangs recognizes their former members who had betrayed
them to join Itachi.
But Naruto noticed
that Sasuke wore no band of any kind.
This made sense, as Sasuke hadn't been old enough to be an actual member
of Leaf when he'd been taken away, and the bands were given upon initiation
into the gangs, which usually happened around age twelve.
His eyes met
Sasuke's briefly, though both kept perfectly blank faces, and Naruto pretended
to find something more interesting to look at than Sasuke and the man next to
him, who could only be his brother.
The resemblance between them was uncanny, Itachi was just as pretty as
Sasuke and the only major differences between the two was that Itachi had long
hair that he pulled back into a ponytail and that he looked older, already
having a deep crease running under each eye.
But Naruto was
snapped out of his thoughts of Sasuke and his brother by the realization that
one if the Leaf geezers was scrutinizing him intently.
"Hey granny, watcha
looking at?" He questioned rudely.
"Granny! Why you
brat!" The woman was older, but
still very pretty, with long blonde hair and bright eyes. While she berated him for his lack if
manners, the man with bushy white hair next to her laughed in good humour and
the Hokage smiled secretly, mostly ignoring what was happening at the other end
of table, pretty confident that Tsunade wouldn't kill Naruto, not yet anyway.
Tsunade let Naruto
off with a sharp tap on his forehead, and soon the meeting was underway.

Kakashi was
supposed to be at the meeting, making sure the place was secure and keeping a
lookout for police, but as he was confidant that the security was by no doubt
extremely tight even without him, so he had let himself run late as was his
usual habit.
Kakashi passed Iruka on his way at gave
smile and a wave to the brunette who returned it with a cold frown. "That won't do," Kakashi thought and
stopped to talk. "Still mad at
me?" he questioned while continuing to smile, his eyes shining brightly.
Iruka's scowl grew deeper, "I had a right
to be concerned."
"And I had a right to tell you not to be."
The way Iruka looked at Kakashi would have
terrified lesser men, but Kakashi stood his ground. "You're just mad because I
was right. They did a great job,
and were perfectly qualified for it.
You can't baby the kids forever Iruka, we're in a gang for gods sake!"
Iruka just turned on his heel and left
without saying a word, his fists clenched. Kakashi yelled after him "you know I'm right!" but Iruka
ignored him and continued to walk away.
Kakashi could only watch Iruka forlornly
for a little while as an energetic pink-haired girl soon called his name.
"Kakashi-sensei! You're late!"
"Ohayo Sakura," he smiled as she pouted.
"Shouldn't we be at the meeting already?"
she said anxiously.
"Actually, I was thinking that you should
stay here and help Iruka-sensei with the younger kids."
"What!"
Kakashi only nodded at her, while she fumed
at him. "But Naruto's going!"
"Well, Naruto's Naruto."
This answer was not good enough for her,
and Kakashi had to listen to her rant for a good ten minutes. Eventually he managed to calm her down,
and she begrudgingly agreed to help her former sensei.
But as she walked off in the same direction
Iruka had gone off in prior, Kakashi could hear her still grumbling. "I must have a knack for pissing people
off today," he thought as he finally left for the meeting, really quite late
now.

Itachi discreetly
watched the red head from Sand and the blonde from Leaf. Yes, these were the ones he wanted; he
could sense their power. But
before he could get too happy about his discovery a loud explosion rocked the
place and one of the walls collapsed.
The white haired Leaf, Jiraiya quickly hauled Naruto out of danger from
the toppling concrete, to the outside where Sand ninja's were attacking. "Sand treachery" the old man mumbled,
and he and Naruto started to fight. Handguns flew out of their concealed
holsters and as the shots were flying Jiraiya couldn't help but note the
abilities of the young blonde, and smiled.
Inside, shots were ricocheting everywhere,
and Tsunade was trying her best to get her leader out uninjured. But as they dodged rubble and bullets,
a man that appeared to be Sand's leader, the Kazekage, grabbed him. "Teme!" she yelled after the man and
started to chase him, but her path was blocked by a blonde boy in glasses who
wore a Leaf headband. "Get out of
my way," she commanded.
"I'm sorry, but I cannot allow you to
interfere, Tsunade-hime"
"What! You traitor!"
"Call me names if you must, but you cannot
pass."
"We'll see about that!" she yelled as she
attacked.

When Kakashi finally made it to the
warehouse the attack was in full swing.
After overcoming his initial shock, Kakashi soon found his place
fighting beside Jiraiya and Naruto.
Meanwhile groups of Sand and Red Moon were attacking gang bases all
across the city. Ino, Shikamaru,
and Choji were on patrol of part of the compound when the attack started. They quickly flew into action guns
blazing; they didn't even have time to think about what was going on. Sakura was with Iruka when they heard
the gunfire. They quickly shuttled
the children into the safe house of the compound. Everyone was scared, but Sakura was frantic, she had no idea
what was happening but knew Ino was on guard duty and was worried out of her
mind. But Iruka wouldn't let
Sakura out. "It's too dangerous!"
he shouted at her.
"I'm just as strong as everybody else!
They're all fighting, why shouldn't I!" she retorted.
He shook his head at her, "I know you are Sakura. But please stay with me and help with
the children." The look of sadness and desperation that was in Iruka's soft
brown eyes convinced her too stay, though even as she comforted the children
she worried about her lover. Iruka
was worrying too, and for some reason he couldn't get his mind off a certain
man with white hair. "Why am I
thinking about that idiot?" he thought to himself, blushing a little, but still
hoping that Kakashi would make it out alright.

The
Sandaime fought his captor the best he could. But he was too old for things like this nowadays, and was no
match for the other man's strength and youth. "What is your grudge against me, Kazekage?" he demanded as
the man threw him down roughly. He
was answered by a creepy laugh as the man tore off his perfect disguise. Long black hair fell across his
shoulders and yellow eyes glinted at his former sensei.
"Orochimaru!"
"Heh, good to know I haven't been
forgotten."
"What are you trying to do?"
"Trying? Not trying, doing. I'm going to destroy your precious
Leaf." He grinned evilly at the old man, whose face had filled with anger.
"Leaf is strong, Orochimaru! It will not
topple so easily. It won't matter
if you kill me, the gang will still continue."
"So conceited." Orochimaru hissed, "but my
plans go beyond you. I will destroy Leaf gang."
He than kicked the Hokage viscously, and
the old man coughed up blood. "Why
do you hate us so much, Orochimaru?
Weren't we good to you? I trained you myself. You were one of my most treasured children."
"Hah! Treasured children! Leaf is full of
squandered potential. That's why I hate it. It could be the strongest off all the gangs. It could force
out all other gangs. It could be
rich and powerful. Instead it just protects it's own territories and only makes
enough money to survive. A gang
should command power and respect.
Leaf is a joke of a gang!"
The Sandaime simply shook his head. "Don't you remember the story of Leaf's
founders? Our gang was founded for
noble reasons. We have always
sought to continue that nobility."
Orochimaru sneered and kicked the man
again, the Hokage continued despite his pains.
"Listen to me! The first and second Hokages started as policemen, good
honest men. But one day they made
a big catch, and were able to lock up the leader of a prominent gang. They were proud of their victory, but
the gang retaliated and killed family members of both cops. They knew who did it, but because of a
loophole in the law the culprits got off.
They could not find their justice in the law, no matter what they tried.
So they retired from the police force and went after the men themselves. They
finally were able to avenge the dead, and then formed this gang. It was made to be an agent of justice
where the law could not go."
Orochimaru only sneered more and continued
to beat the man. "Justice? That's
your excuse for weakness? It's stupidity!
Leaf is a pitiful excuse for a gang. You could be making tons of money drug trafficking, but
instead you only deal with silly things like medicinal marijuana."
"We want to help people!"
"Help people! That's not what gangs are
for!"
"Don't you understand at all
Orochimaru? We are the light in
the darkness!"
"Still so noble. It sickens me! But I will turn out your light." And
with that last word he whipped out his gun and shot the Hokage fatally in the
chest. The old man's eyes went wide as he gripped at his heart. "Sayonara Sarutobi," he sad as he spat
on the dying leader. His smile was
even more wicked than usual as he walked away; an evil chuckle was building in
his throat.
By the time Tsunade had managed to knock
Kabuto unconscious she reached the Sandaime too late. The man was too far-gone for her to save, and all she could
do was hold him as he breathed his last.
But before he died he managed to croak out one word, "Orochimaru."
Tsunade understood, and silently swore to finally finish off that bastard for
good.
