Sakura almost literally ran into Tenten as she headed into the dressing rooms. She would have passed her up, wanted to be alone, but the other woman couldn't have missed the look on Sakura's face even if she were blind. "Sakura?"
Sakura just shook her head, and tried to keep going, but Tenten wasn't going to let her. She grabbed her arm and put chakra behind it, pulling her back. "Sakura!"
She stopped and sighed, then turned back to Tenten. The look on her face caused Tenten to drop her arm and take a half step back. "What happened? Did someone hurt you? Are you okay?"
The bit of panic in Tenten's voice helped to calm Sakura down. "No, no! No one hurt me." She sighed and glanced around. Seeing they were alone, she grabbed Tenten's hand and led her to one of the benches. She frowned, not quite knowing where to start. "I… I think I fell for Sho."
Tenten closed her eyes and put her arms around Sakura. "I'm so sorry."
"Sorry? I should be publicly flogged. I betrayed Kakashi and Yamato! God, after everything else, after all my jealousy and I do this?" Sakura couldn't figure out if she should cry or punch something.
Tenten pulled back. "How is this different from last night, Sakura?"
Sakura blinked at her. "Where should I start?"
But Tenten just shook her head. "Don't you see? That's why you were so upset last night. Why what happened between you then hit you so hard."
Sakura looked down at the floor and laid her head on Tenten's shoulder. "He told me he's going to stop seeing me. How stupid is it that that hurt almost as much as him wanting to see me?"
Tenten chuckled. "I know. I just came out of a session with Takumi. He apologized to me. Told me how bad he felt for putting me through everything he had. Then told me that he thought it was probably best if he stop coming to see me. And damned if that didn't hurt. I don't think I loved him. Cared about him, yeah, didn't want to hurt him, but not love. Certainly not the way you love Sho."
Sakura shook her head, then sighed. "This sucks." She'd run out of words, her emotions too raw, too much. "And the night isn't half over." She sniffled.
Tenten hugged her tighter, then let go. "I know. Listen, go get your makeup fixed up. I'll be back in a few."
Sakura raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "Okay."
Tenten disappeared through the doorway and Sakura turned to the makeup counter.
Sakura finished with her makeup and inspected herself in the mirror. She still looked a little rough around the edges but she knew that most of her customers wouldn't even notice, much less care. With any luck, she could get away with just a few more, then get the guys and go home. She wasn't looking forward to that talk, but she needed them badly. She sighed, tamped down hard on the tears that threatened and headed back out to the club.
And stopped dead. Kakashi and Yamato were waiting for her at Yuri's booth. She turned a confused look on them, then at Yuri. They both smiled at her and she took the last few steps. "What…?"
"These gentlemen are your next appointment, Sakura." Yuri said and made a come here gesture, so she stepped closer to him. "They have you for the rest of the night. I'm sorry about Sho."
She stared at him a minute, still confused, but grateful nonetheless. "Thank you, Yuri. Very much."
He smiled. "I understand."
She turned to the guys. "Hi…how…?"
"We'll talk inside." Kakashi said and took a hand. Yamato took the other and they headed back.
When the door was closed, she turned to them, bewildered. "What's going on? Didn't you go downstairs? Why…how? Um…"
Kakashi pulled her with him to the bed. When he'd settled down, Yamato sat next to him and together, they pulled her onto their laps. "We know what happened."
She blinked at them. "How?"
"Well, we had two very interesting visitors to our booth this evening." Kakashi shook his head. "I think we're going to end up paying rent on that thing."
Yamato chuckled, then the smile faded. "Sho stopped to talk to us on his way out of the club."
Her eyes widened. "He did?"
Kakashi nodded. "Brave man, he is. But rest easy, we didn't kill him."
"We didn't even hurt him. Though I wanted to. Are you okay, Sakura?" Yamato smoothed the hair back from her face. "You've repaired your makeup, but I'd bet it's just a cover."
She looked down at her hands, playing with the engagement ring. "I betrayed you."
"Oh? How is that?" Kakashi asked, tightening his arm around her.
"I…" she took a deep breath. "I…" she swallowed, angry with herself. "I love him."
"We knew that, Sakura." Kakashi said.
Her head snapped up. "What?"
"You're not very honest with yourself." Yamato said. "You didn't want to admit you loved us, either, if you'll recall."
She looked from one to the other. "Aren't you mad at me? Aren't you hurt?"
"We're not happy about it." Kakashi said, glancing at Yamato. "But why should we be mad at you?"
"But…" She stared at them in confusion. "But…I already told you! I betrayed you!"
"You said that already." Yamato said. "But that's not how we heard it."
"What? From who?" She shook her head, not following things very well.
"Sho." Kakashi said. "He told us what happened. Maybe not every detail, but most of it."
"The pertinent bits." Yamato put in.
"Sakura, you're a caring, loving, generous person. And he set out to make you fall in love with him. You wouldn't be who you are if he hadn't succeeded." Kakashi pulled her even closer, wrapping his arms around her tighter.
She shook her head. "He's not the only one at fault here. I should have refused him long before now."
Yamato nodded. "That may be." He paused, "Sakura, no one is completely blameless. But I'd have to say that your part of that is very small, compared to his."
"Which is why we would really like to beat him into a pile of goo." Kakashi finished, smiling cheerfully.
She stared from one to the other and lost the battle with her tears. She was so sick of crying, but couldn't seem to help it. "I don't deserve you." She buried her face in her hands, at a loss for how to deal with this.
They held her, then, silently, and she let it all out again. But this time when the tears started to slow, when they cleaned her face up, she really felt better. She looked up at them, these men that loved her and knew that even if she loved Sho, and she knew she did, it was nothing compared to what she felt for them.
"I really don't deserve you." She said, then leaned up and kissed them. "I'm so sorry." She held up a hand when they would stop her. "No, I am for my part. Yes, Sho had blame. But so did I. And I'm sorry."
"Well, I think that we can forgive you." Kakashi leaned down and laid a very soft kiss on her lips.
"Especially since we'd already figured it out and done so." Yamato took his turn kissing her. "Now, I think it's been a difficult enough night. Let's go."
Later that night, Kakashi lay wrapped around Sakura. Yamato faced him, the two of them cuddling her as close as they could. She'd fallen asleep finally, after they'd made love to her, working to fill her with themselves as much as they could. "Are you as angry as I am?" Yamato whispered. He was on his side, his face once again only a few centimeters from Kakashi's. He glanced down at Sakura.
Kakashi sighed. "Yes." He lifted a hand and made a fist. "It's only because of her that I won't go after him."
"Yeah. She wouldn't appreciate it too much, would she?" Yamato shook his head. "What the hell do we do with this? She's going to be our wife." He clenched his jaw, working to control himself. "I don't remember ever wanting to hurt someone this much before."
"Me, either." Kakash frowned. "Maybe we can just use it like Jirocho-san suggested. Channel it into the mission." He shook his head. "It doesn't help that there's nothing to fight on this mission. Not yet, anyway."
Yamato sighed. "I know battle. I know how to fight. We know how to work as a team when we're up against an opponent, but this?" He shrugged. "I'm supposed to figure out how to fuck someone - a stranger - instead? Do things to them that I never would have considered doing to anyone before. What is that?"
Kakashi reached over and put his hand on Yamato's clenched fist. "I know. I don't like it, either. The only comfort I can offer is that we can look at what this mission has given us."
Yamato forced himself to relax and turned his hand so that he could hold Kakashi's. He blew out a breath. "Yeah, I guess it has." He looked up at him. "I never would have fallen in love. With either of you, were it not for this. Or, at least, not have admitted it. I think I've loved you both for a while."
Kakashi caught his breath. He let go of Yamato's hand and brushed the hair back off of his face. "Exactly. Neither would I. But we did fall in love. All of us. And now we're going to get married - all of us. We have a family now - are a family now. And that came about because of this."
"I'm not sure how much it'll help me get through the nights ahead, but I'm glad you guys will be there after it's over." He closed the tiny distance and laid his lips over Kakashi's.
Kakashi threaded his fingers through the soft brown hair and held him close as the kiss deepened. Yamato's arm came up to wrap around Kakashi's shoulder as much as he could without crushing Sakura and he tilted his head a little. His lips moved over the other man's, letting some of his frustrations out and Kakashi took them, all of them. When the broke apart, Yamato frowned. "I'm sorry, you have enough. You don't need to take my shit, too."
But Kakashi just put his fingers over Yamato's lips. "That's part of being married, you know. Get used to it. There will be plenty of time where you'll take mine, too."
Yamato blushed. "Yeah, I guess." Dark eyes met mismatched ones. "I love you."
"I love you. Get some sleep, we still have a lot of work to do." He kissed Yamato's forehead and they settled down, hands clasped, tangled once more with Sakura and each other. But it would be a long time later before Yamato finally slept.
"Sato Toshio." Kakashi said, tossing the paper onto the table. "He disappeared years ago, shortly after passing the Chunin exam at age ten."
Gai picked up the sheet and read over it. "The Bingo Book says he is presumed dead."
"I'd be willing to bet that at least half of those 'presumed dead' in the Bingo Book…aren't." Yamato said.
They were sitting at dinner later that night. One of Sho's contacts had given him the name earlier in the day and he'd brought it to them at the boss's house. Sakura had been simultaneously grateful and disappointed that she'd been asleep when he came by.
After sending Pakkun back to Konoha with the information, he'd returned with the Bingo Book entry that they were looking at now. "So, what does that tell us?" Lee asked.
"Not much, truthfully. He'd been kidnapped as a young child by Orochimaru, but that had happened so much back then that it wasn't much of a surprise. When ANBU found him and brought him back, they didn't see anything different with him, even after being examined and tested at the hospital. He was nine at the time and went back to the academy." Kakashi paused to sip off of his tea.
"After that, he was fairly unremarkable outside of the talent he'd already displayed. Graduated six months later, made Chunin six months after that." Yamato shrugged.
"Earth type." Gai said. "But there isn't much here about his other abilities."
Kakashi shook his head. "Either he didn't have them or he didn't use them before he left."
"Well, we know who he is now. Is there any more information on where he might be?" Sakura asked as she finished her rice.
"Nothing yet." Kakashi sighed. "So, until we know where, we…keep going with what we're doing."
"Well, we have a name. That's a lot more than we had last night." Sakura said. "We need to take what progress we can get. Frankly, it helps me feel a little better."
"You're not the one who has to go back downstairs." Yamato muttered.
Sakura chuckled. "Is it really that bad?"
Yamato's only answer was a blush.
"Okay, well. One goal down. We need to witness the lower floors, that's our next goal. Let's see if we can't get this one out of the way soon. Gai, keep at it if you can and Yamato and I will see what we can do. With any luck, we'll manage to find the nin when we get down there."
"So, we both know what's on Sanenjin." Kakashi said as he sipped his sake. They'd just finished with Sakura and were trying to figure out what to do down on the third level.
Yamato sighed. "Yes. And as far as I can tell, there's only one thing that I could deal with."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Yamato blushed. "Um, well, I know I'm not much of a breast man, but, well…"
"Ah." Kakashi said, nodding. "Well, then, let's get this over with, hmm?"
Yamato downed the rest of his drink and stood. "Yes, please."
They made their way down the three flights of stairs and stepped through the double doors. Kakashi saw Gai head into a room on the other side of the balcony and turned away. He did not want to know what the man would be up to.
The manager on this level was as quiet and watchful as the other two. He reminded Kakashi more of Yuri than Akeno of Ichienjin, tall and thin as opposed to Akeno's short stature, but he had the same keen eyes that the First Circle manager did. Kakashi was quite sure he didn't miss anything, either.
They were led down the first hallway off of the main balcony and glanced at each other when Tsukasa motioned to one room. "The ladies you'll be seeing share this room." He bowed and headed back down the hall.
Kakashi turned to Yamato. "This is different."
"Yeah. Well, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised by anything by now, should we?" Yamato said, with a raised eyebrow.
Kakashi shook his head. "I guess not. Well, at least I'm here with you and not Gai."
Yamato chuckled. "No doubt."
Kakashi pushed the door open and stepped through.
