It was ridiculous for her to be nervous. She'd seen the man when she'd been completely naked almost every night for the last three weeks. It didn't make sense for her to be nervous now, when she'd be fully dressed in normal clothes.
Kakashi and Yamato watched her pace the bedroom again and Yamato leaned over. "Do you think if we kissed it would get her attention again?"
Kakashi shook his head. "Unfortunately, no. I think that's lost its shock value." He looked over at his friend, "and if you want to kiss me, you don't have to be sneaky about it." He chuckled at the blush on Yamato's face. "Anyway, the only thing that might get her attention, I'm not sure I'm ready to do yet."
Yamato looked at him, an eyebrow raised. "Do I want to know what you mean?"
Kakashi just stared at him a moment, waiting. He saw the exact second that Yamato got it and blushed. Then Yamato cleared his throat. "Yet?"
"I think if there's one thing I've learned during this mission, it's to stop saying 'never'." Kakashi went back to watching Sakura pace.
"You've got a point there." Yamato said, then sighed. "What I don't get is why she's nervous."
"I'm not sure she does, either. That would explain the muttering." They went back to watching her pace a moment, then Kakashi got an idea. He leaned back over and whispered something into Yamato's ear.
Yamato stood up and picked her up before she could say anything. He turned to the bed and laid her back. Kakashi took her hands, Yamato stripped her shorts and panties off of her and had his mouth on her in a few seconds flat. A few moments after that, she was shuddering through her orgasm.
"What…" she tried to catch her breath, "was that about?"
"You were working yourself into a full-fledged panic attack." Kakashi said, releasing her hands.
She sat up and Yamato handed her shorts to her. She pulled them back on, then pulled her little pink skirt over it and she sighed. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I'm so nervous."
"I've been thinking about that while Yamato was working on you."
Sakura blushed at that. "Oh?"
"The costume, make up, the whole thing is something of a shield. It's a role you play and allows you to be different. I think you should at least put on the 'street clothes' you've been wearing here." Kakashi frowned slightly. He didn't really want her exposing more of herself, but that was ridiculous, considering the man had already seen her completely naked. Revealing clothing was certainly nothing compared to that. He shook it off mentally and smiled at her.
She blinked at him. "I didn't even think of that." She smiled at them and planted kisses on each of them. "Thank you. You guys are way too good to me."
"Don't thank us yet. Wait until we get through dinner. If we don't kill him, then you can thank us." Yamato said, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
She shook her head. "Be nice. He could help us. And it might mean we get to go home sooner."
Yamato pouted. "Okay."
She laughed and kissed his pout away. "Come on, he's due any time."
She ended up putting on makeup, too. So when Sho got there, she was at least closer to what she was as a dancer. She'd never done anything even remotely ninja-like in the kind of sandals she was wearing, much less a skirt, but she'd seen other kunoichi do it, so she figured she could, too. Besides, she didn't plan to do that much.
There was an extremely awkward few moments when he saw her. "Hi, Sakura."
She smiled up at him and couldn't help but remember the night before. The memories of the way he'd made love to her surfaced in vivid detail and she fought the blush with everything she could. She glanced at Kakashi and Yamato before dropping a quick kiss on Sho's cheek. "Hi, Sho."
She stepped back and took her spot next to the guys. Jirocho cleared his throat. "I'm sure you've figured out that these people are not quite what they seem." At Sho's nod, Jirocho continued. "They're ninja from the Hidden Leaf Village."
Sho's eyes went straight to Sakura and widened. "You're a ninja?"
She nodded and Kakashi stepped forward. "I'm her former sensei, this is her team captain," he said, indicating Yamato. "She's apprentice to our Hokage, who is one of the legendary Sannin - the three most powerful ninja to ever come out of the Five Great Shinobi nations. And, in my opinion, well on her way to surpassing her master."
Sakura blushed and elbowed him. "You're laying it on a bit thick aren't you?"
"I don't think so." He said, glancing at her, then he turned back to Sho. "And yes, we are really getting married. That's not part of the mission." Kakashi added.
Sakura held onto her patience carefully. "It's not that big of a deal." She glared at Kakashi and glanced at Yamato, daring him to add to it. "Yes, I'm a ninja. I can take care of myself, which, I think, is what he wants you to understand."
Sho was still in a bit of shock. "Well, um, I have to admit that's not quite what I thought." He blinked at her. "You're a ninja. Well... um." He shook his head, at a loss.
She put a hand on his sleeve. "It's okay. I know it's a shock. But I also want to show you something. You're going to hear a lot tonight about what's going on down in that club and the kind of things that I may be up against. I want you to keep this in mind when you hear it, okay?"
He nodded and she led the way down the hallway and out through the courtyard door. Earlier that day, they'd had a large rock moved in and set in a corner away from the main garden. She pulled her gloves out and approached it. It was about the size of a small dining table. "Sho?" She waited until he caught up to her. "See this rock?"
He nodded. "Lift it," she said and he stared at her. Then, willing to do anything for her, he tried. He was, of course, unsuccessful.
"Um, I can't." He blushed, glancing over at Yamato and Kakashi where they were leaning against the wall, watching.
She nodded. "Right. I didn't expect you to be able to. And, for the record, they couldn't, either." She said with a grin and both of them rolled their eyes. She took a deep breath, then closed her eyes and focused her chakra. Then she lifted the rock off of the ground.
Sho stared at her, his mouth hanging agape. It would almost have been comical, if it wasn't such a serious situation. She set the rock down carefully and pulled her gloves on tighter.
She pulled her fist back and Kakashi called out. "You might want to have him move."
"Oh, right. You should step back, Sho." He looked at her with an eyebrow raised, but moved back to the wall next to Yamato.
She pulled her fist back then and sent it into the rock, crumbling it to tiny pieces. A few of the shards flew in different directions but, fortunately, didn't damage anyone or anything.
She pulled her gloves off and walked over to them, going to tuck the gloves into her waistband before remembering she wasn't wearing her uniform. Sho picked up her hand and looked it over, noting not a single scratch on it. "How?"
"We can talk about it over dinner." She smiled up at him and turned into the house, grinning cheekily at Jirocho, where he'd watched from the door. "See? No damage."
He laughed. "Yeah, but I'm reminded again not to make you mad at me." He leaned down and said into her ear, "and I'm glad I didn't see that before I visited you at the club."
She laughed and dropped a kiss on his cheek, then threaded her arm through his to walk to the dining room. Gai, Lee and Tenten were already there, settled on their cushions. Jirocho took his place at the head of the table and Kakashi and Yamato made sure she sat between them. Sho sat awkwardly between Gai and Kakashi at the other end.
Jirocho offered introductions to Lee and Tenten, then they waited patiently until Mae had served dinner and left. "Okay, I'm going to let the ninja explain what they know already and we can go from there."
Kakashi, Yamato and Sakura took turns filling Sho in on all that they knew. There were quite a few red faces by the time they were done, but the seriousness of the situation was fully understood.
"I had no idea just how bad it was down there. I had heard rumors, of course, that things were ugly. But very few people would put voice to the actual acts." He shook his head. "I don't understand that sort of thing."
"Most of us don't. It's bad enough that we're having to visit the upper levels of the place. That's been a real challenge for us." Kakashi said and couldn't hide the blush, "but we've managed to get to the third level. Well, Gai has, anyway." He glanced up to see the normally exuberant man very quiet, for once. Gai glanced up at him, but didn't say anything, he just reached over and took Tenten's hand in his own.
Sho looked over at Sakura. "This must be extremely difficult for you." He glanced at Tenten, "and you. I had no idea. I'm… I'm sorry, for my part. Tenten, I would offer apologies for Takumi, as well. I know it's been even harder because of him, too."
"Sho," Sakura sighed. "You couldn't have known. And…" but she trailed off. What could she say? Especially in front of the whole group.
"That's not the point right now." Kakashi said, steering it back to the problem. "We have to find the nin, and we need to witness the lower levels of the club so we have some proof of what's going on. Part of our problem is that we don't even know much about the nin running it. We know he's formerly of the Leaf because of the headband he wears and that he's male. That's about it."
"Well, the first thing I can do is talk to some people. Wasabi-sama may not get into the shadiest side of business, but the position I am in has certainly allowed me to make a lot of contacts. I would suggest you keep doing what you're doing and I'll see what I can find out from the outside of the club. I can make contact with Sakura, if that's alright with you." He said this last to Kakashi, his gaze steady. The unspoken message was clear: I still want to see her.
Sakura blushed a little and looked down at her soup. That answered that question, but definitely brought the other back - how would she handle it? She didn't know, and really couldn't at this point, so she pushed it aside. She'd have a chance that night, undoubtedly.
Kakashi considered him a moment. He didn't like the fact that he'd still be seeing Sakura, especially knowing how he felt about her, but Kakashi had to keep in mind that they had to worry about the mission. And the sooner the mission was over, the sooner Sho would be out of the picture and they could all concentrate on their relationship. He glanced at Yamato, who nodded almost imperceptibly. "That would be fine." Kakashi said.
Dinner wound down shortly thereafter and as Sho was leaving, he paused in front of Sakura. Kakashi and Yamato had kept her firmly between them, so she couldn't help but admire his bravery for approaching her. "I'll see you tonight." He said, quietly. He stared, obviously wanting to do more, but thought better of it. He smiled at her, nodded to the guys and left.
When they got back into the room, she sighed. "Well, thank you for not killing him."
"I thought we did very well." Kakashi said.
"Me, too." Yamato said.
Sakura laughed. "Yamato, you managed to, only because you didn't say much outside of the mission summary. And, then there was the fact that I was kept firmly between you two the whole time. You couldn't have staked your claim better if you'd tattooed your names on my forehead!" She sighed in exasperation.
Yamato glanced at Kakashi. "Now there's an idea."
She growled and Kakashi laughed. "We wouldn't really." He said, holding his hands up at her. "You can't really blame us, can you? We love you."
She sighed. "No, I guess not." She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him, then turned and grabbed Yamato's hand, pulling him closer. "I suppose I'd feel the same if Riku or Moe or someone showed up."
"That's not the same, though." Yamato said. "Riku isn't in love with me."
She shook her head. "In the end, I don't think that matters. The fact is that I don't like the idea of either of you having sex outside of this relationship. Any more than, I'm sure, you guys do. For that matter, think about this," she said, looking at Yamato, "if you saw Kakashi kissing another man, how would you feel?"
Yamato frowned. He had to admit, he wouldn't like it. He shook his head. "Confusing, complicated and definitely bizarre," was his only answer.
"Yeah," Kakashi said, his own thoughts occupied with the idea of being jealous over Yamato's lips on anyone besides Sakura…and himself.
"All we can do right now is try to push these things aside. I don't want to be okay with you guys going outside our relationship, so I don't want to get over it, per se. The only other option is to try to push it aside while we're forced to. And pray we don't ever get sent on another mission like this again."
"Thankfully, missions like this are not common." Kakashi said.
Sakura nodded. "Yeah. Good thing, too. Anyway, we need to get ready. When I get to the club, I'll make sure Yuri schedules you guys first, okay? That should help, at least a little."
They hugged her close, both kissing her softly. It took a major struggle on all of them to keep from getting lost in each other and get ready for the evening instead.
After she'd seen the guys that night, and paused in the dressing room to get cleaned up, she'd found herself nervous once more. She knew who was next. Yuri had asked her if she wanted him to tell Sho she was booked, but the mission depended on him making contact with her, so she'd told him it was okay. But now that she was faced with seeing him again, she was very nervous.
Maybe it was all for nothing. Maybe he didn't love her anymore, knowing what she really was. Maybe he would pull back a little, visit her for a bit, discuss what he knew or found out and leave. And it irked her that the thought of that hurt.
She took a deep breath and got a hold of herself. Pacing the dressing room did no good, regardless. What would happen, would happen and she had to face it. She sighed and headed out to the club.
And had to force herself to keep moving when she saw him at Yuri's table. When she got there, he stood. "Hi, Sakura." He said, quietly, his eyes drinking her in.
She smiled up at him. "Hi, Sho." Her voice shook a little. Dammit. She cleared her throat. "Are you ready?" He nodded.
Sakura glanced at Yuri who gave her a smile and she turned back toward the private lounges. When they stepped into the room, he didn't say a word. He pulled her against him and his lips crashed onto hers. She wanted to push him away. She didn't want to feel his lips on hers. Didn't want to want this.
She returned the kiss, her arms wrapping around his neck, and their tongues warred. She felt her heart break a little. She didn't want this, it wasn't right. She couldn't care about him this much.
When they broke apart, hearts pounding, breath coming in gasps, she couldn't look at him. She swallowed hard and cursed herself for fighting tears. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself a little.
He felt the tremor go through her and kicked himself. What was she going through? What was he putting her through?
"I can't love you."
He closed his eyes, holding her against him. He heard the subtext, heard what she didn't say. He pulled back and tilted her chin up, drawing her gaze to his face. "I'm so sorry, Sakura."
She shook her head. "I can't blame you. I want to…but I can't. Except for the fact that you are such a good guy." She gave a half-smile. "Entirely aside from Kakashi and Yamato, you know why it would never work for us."
He nodded. "Yes, I do now. Do…" he sighed and swallowed hard. "Do you want me to find another way to contact your team?"
She closed her eyes. He was giving her an out. She should take it, it would make things a lot easier on her. And hurt him. A lot. "No. I told you I'd see you. But Sho, when it's over, I'm going home to Konoha. I'm going to marry Kakashi and Yamato." She looked up at him, then and couldn't miss the relief on his face.
"I know, Sakura." He pulled her close again, wrapping his arms around her.
"It's still going to hurt. Whether it's now or later," she said to his chest, playing with the button on his shirt.
"I'd rather take what I can get." He shrugged. "Can you understand that?"
She sighed, looking up at him. "Yes, I can."
He drew her over to the chair and she settled into his lap. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her again, slowly this time, softly. When he pulled back, he sighed. "I've made some initial inquiries, but I haven't learned anything yet. I hope to hear something tomorrow."
She nodded. "I didn't really expect anything that fast. Thank you." She looked up at him, meeting his eyes. They sat like that, not moving, neither quite willing to take the next step. Sakura fought with herself, she shouldn't, she knew that. It would only hurt him more in the end.
But then Sho lowered his face again, and this time when their lips met, his hands started to move over her body. He undressed her slowly, starting at the collar and disks, teasing her skin. When he slipped his fingers under her panties and touched her clit, she closed her eyes on a moan, his name slipping from her lips. He worked her, but it didn't take much. Despite her nervousness from earlier, the liquid and her future husbands' attentions made sure that she was very ready. And so just a minute later, she came, shuddering in his arms.
Sho could wait no longer. He managed to slow down enough to remove her tail carefully and pull the panties off, but then he was fighting with his own clothes. She pushed his hands aside, helping him out of them, then she was back on the bed and he was inside her. "God, Sakura." He moaned.
She wrapped her legs around him and tilted her hips to take him further into her. Her hands rested on his shoulders, her eyes met his. "Yes," she hissed out. Their lips met again and he moved faster.
"Sho." She moaned, and lost it, her orgasm crashing into her. She held him close, trembling through it. A moment later, he let go, filling her with himself, her name a shout.
He rolled with her, gathering her close and they lay together, neither saying anything. She knew then what she'd refused to admit and she couldn't stop the tears from falling. She cursed herself silently, angry, frustrated. She'd betrayed Kakashi and Yamato, betrayed herself. And for what? When they finished this, she'd go home to the Leaf and never see Sho again.
He tightened his arms around her, wishing desperately he could take her pain away, wishing in that moment that he'd stayed away when he first knew he was falling in love with her. "I'm so sorry." He swallowed. "I think it would be better if I stayed away."
It should have comforted her, it should have made her feel better, but it didn't. She sighed. "I don't want to hurt you. I told you I'd see you."
"I can't keep from making love to you, Sakura. I can't keep from touching you, loving you. I thought I could, I thought I'd manage to somehow, but…" he stopped and took a deep breath. "I can't hurt you like this."
She let herself go for another minute and lay in his arms. She rubbed her face in the soft hair on his chest, then pulled back and sat up. "It's the right thing to do." She looked over at him as he leaned up on one arm and she ran her fingers down his face. "I'm sorry."
He caught her hand and kissed it. "No. It's my fault, Sakura. I'll still help your team. I'll do what I can for you. And that means that I'm going to have to stop seeing you. I love you." He shrugged, "and I can't keep myself from showing it."
She opened her mouth and fought with herself over what to say, but he put a finger over it. "Don't. I know." He pulled her to him and kissed her so tenderly, it broke her heart again. "Thank you, Sakura. For all that you have given me."
She stood up and turned away from him. She picked up her costume and fought with shaking hands to put it back on, but she couldn't. She couldn't straighten the stupid panties out through the blur of tears. She was about to rip the damn things instead when they were pulled from her hands and his arms came back around her. She fought it, they wouldn't take over her, she wouldn't let them fall freely.
But it was bullshit and she knew it. A moment later, she let go. He picked her up and carried her back to the chair and held her as she cried. She poured out the weeks of frustration, emotional turmoil and heartache onto his chest and he took it all for her. And then the fact that it was Sho, not Kakashi or Yamato, that was comforting her came home to her and she cried harder. This just wasn't fair.
Finally, she didn't know how much later, they slowed. As she pulled back from his chest, he held out the box of tissues to her and she took one. She mopped at her face the best she could, not wanting to look at him. "I'm sorry. That wasn't fair to you."
"Don't be sorry, Sakura. This whole thing is wrong on so many levels. But… the blame here lies with me. I knew what was happening by the third time I was with you. I should have put a stop to it then."
She glanced up at him. "Sho, you thought I was still just a prostitute then."
He shrugged one shoulder. "If you'll recall, I suspected something from the first night." He chuckled quietly. "Maybe there's a bit of a fairy tale knight in shining armor in me. I ignored it, pushed it aside and subconsciously thought maybe I could take you away from this." He shook his head. "I knew better, and I could have stopped it, but I didn't."
She swallowed and looked at the decimated tissue in her hand. "But…"
"But nothing, Sakura. I did my damndest to make you fall in love with me. I wanted you to." He shook his head. "And all I've managed to do is hurt you."
She shook her head this time. "No. That's not all." She looked up at him and their eyes met. "I did."
He sighed. "I know, Sakura. That's why I'm so angry with myself. I succeeded. But all it's done is hurt you. It wasn't worth it. What kind of man hurts something he loves so much?" He pulled another tissue out of the box and wiped her face off a little more. "But now it's time for me to face the consequences. I've created this mess and I can fix it." He kissed her gently on the forehead, then her cheeks and finally placed a soft one on her lips.
She sniffled and wiped again at her tears, then stood and picked up her panties from where they'd landed near the door. She turned back to him. "I don't know what to say, Sho. I don't know how to deal with this. Before Kakashi, I'd never loved like this."
He was pulling his own clothes on. "I haven't, either, Sakura, not like this." He pulled his shirt on and left it hang open. "But I know this. You're a strong woman." He chuckled. "And I don't mean how much you can lift, either. And your relationship with them is strong. You'll be fine."
They finished dressing in silence, then he turned to her. "I can't promise you won't see me again. If I can't figure out how to get the information to your team without drawing suspicion, we may still see each other. But I will promise not to do this again. We won't make love. If I have to refrain from touching you at all, I will."
She nodded. "Th…" she cleared her throat. "Thank you, Sho." She stood up on her toes and he pulled her into his arms.
"One more kiss?" He asked and she nodded. As his lips moved over hers, they parted, their tongues touched and the sweetness, the tenderness tore at her again. But she pushed it away, and threaded her fingers through his hair. She gave him everything she could for this, showed him what she couldn't say. And when they broke apart, she smiled.
"Thank you. Take care, Sho." She touched his face once more.
"Take care, Sakura." He dropped his arms and took a half step back and she made her escape.
