The city building was only a couple of blocks away. None of them hurried, but let the local merchants see Fushinji as they passed. He was slung over Gai's shoulder like a sack of rice, bleeding a trail down the street.
Several of the shopkeepers stepped up to their windows or even came outside to watch. There was some grumbling from a few dockworkers standing outside the bar. Kakashi thought it was probably a lack of wages they were contemplating.
Inside the city building, Gai took him straight to a jail cell while Kakashi and Kenji talked to their local police and made arrangements for him to be held while they waited for the daimyo to arrive. They were all very glad to be rid of him, but the day was far from over. They quickly headed to the inn to see about the women.
Hitoshi, Yuki and Tan were sitting on one end of the room while the women grouped around a few tables set up in the back. Sakura approached Hitoshi. "Was anyone hurt?"
Hitoshi stood up and shook his head. "Nothing that I could see. At least outwardly. Inside..." he trailed off, but Sakura knew what he was thinking.
"I'm going to need to eat something. Could you talk to the older lady, please?" Hitoshi gave her an odd look, but headed over.
Kakashi approached her. "Sakura?" She turned to him, but at seeing the look on his face, she raised a hand to stop him.
"I'm fine. I'll check them for internal injuries, eat, and go from there, okay? If I don't counter the drug somehow, though, they'll go through withdrawal." Kakashi considered her for another moment before nodding. He leaned down, pulled her into his arms and kissed her thoroughly once again.
Flustered, Sakura blushed. "Kakashi!" She glanced around pointedly, but he just gave her an amused smile.
She sighed and threw her hands up. A moment later, the older lady came in with a small box containing a rice ball and some vegetables. Sakura went over to the women. "Hello," she said and they looked up at here. "I'm a medic ninja from the Hidden Leaf Village. I can help you if you have any physical pain or problems. Are any of you hurting right now?"
They all glanced at each other, not doing anything. Sakura waited a minute, then one hand went up. Shortly after, several more followed. "Is that all? Please, don't hesitate. I want to help you." Two more hands joined them. Sakura met the gaze of each of the others who shook their heads, one at a time.
She separated out the ones who had raised their hands. Then she grabbed an uncomfortable-looking Tenten who was standing between Kenji and Gai and started setting up a triage situation. When she knew what was wrong with each of them, she sorted out the ones who were hurt worst and healed them as much as she could.
Next, she turned to the others and did as much as she could for each of them, giving them standard pain killers when she realized that her chakra was getting very low. She had to eat, or she'd be useless to the rest of them.
While she ate quickly, she thought over the drug and its effect. She worked things out in her head as much as she could, then requested paper and pen from the older lady. She made a list, a few quick illustrations and sent Gai, Tenten, Kakashi and Kenji out in search of the herbs she'd need. With any luck, they could find them quickly and make something to counter the drug instead of depleting herself completely of chakra.
It didn't take them long to return with the things she requested. The older lady led her into the kitchen behind the dining room and showed her around so she could find what she needed. Sakura tied her hair up and got started.

Tenten was at a loss for what to do. The women were currently as comfortable as she could make them until Sakura finished her work. She wandered out onto the small porch in the front of the inn and sat down.
Her mind was still in turmoil. It was, for all intents and purposes, over. They would help the women get home and Hitoshi would be going along with Kenji and his team to their country to continue his search for his sister.
She wanted to get home to Konoha and put it all behind her. She wanted to be away from Kenji so she could stop being distracted by him. Because she cared about him more than she should and she didn't like it.
The object of her thoughts chose that moment to step out onto the porch. She looked up at him and her heart did a little flip. "Hi."
He smiled that same damn smile at her again. "Hi. May I?" He asked, then motioned to the porch next to her.
She moved over a bit and he sat down. "How are you doing?" He turned to her and leaned back against one of the porch columns.
"Oh, I'm fine. None of the blood was mine." She grinned. "I'm better than that."
He laughed. "That's good. But that's not what I meant."
She sighed. "I know." She looked away from him, choosing her words carefully. "I will be. Gai will do a lot to help me through it. What about you?"
Kenji was silent for long enough that she looked back at him again. "I don't know, to be honest." He paused and stared at the ground between his feet. "I...think I love you, Tenten."
Tenten closed her eyes and fought tears. She didn't want to hear this. She didn't want the extra confusion, the temptation. She needed to walk away from him, with Gai, and forget all about it.
She wouldn't be able to, though. Not forget. She'll get past it, put it behind her, but she isn't likely to ever forget him. She sighed.
"I've been thinking. I'd like you to go back with me." He was so quiet, she wasn't sure she heard him right.
"What?" She stared at him, at a complete loss for words. "But. Um. I..."
"Come back with me. I don't know if I can just walk away from you. Don't answer now. Just think about it. Please." He leaned forward and kissed her forehead while she sat in shock. He whispered, "I love you," and a moment later, he'd disappeared into the inn.
Tenten stared at the ground in front of her unseeingly. Now what was she going to do?

Gai slipped back into the shadows of the inn. He wasn't paying attention to where he went, but found himself in their room. He sat heavily on the side of the bed, dropped his head into his hands and stared into nothingness.
He'd often worried that someone else would tempt his blossom away from him. He had done everything he could think of to make her happy and for her to want to be with him. He loved her so much, and it scared him as much as when he thought he was going to lose Lee all those years ago.
He didn't realize he'd forgotten to close the door until Kakashi was standing over him. He looked up, stared at him a minute, then dropped his head back into his hands. He never noticed when the tears started to fall.
"You're not going to lose her." Kakashi said quietly.
"He asked her to go with him." He sounded hopeless, even to his own ears.
"And? Does that mean she's absolutely going to go with him?" Kakashi tilted his head to the side as he considered Gai.
Gai just shook his head. "I don't know."
Kakash squatted in front of him. "Is she married to him?"
"No." He said, the word muffled by his hands.
"That counts for a lot. Did she give him an answer?" He kept his voice matter-of-fact.
Another muffled "no" came out.
"Well, then, she trusted in your vows while she was back in Fushinji's warehouse. I think you need to trust in them now." When Gai didn't move, Kakashi watched him another minute before standing and heading for the door.
"You are right." Gai said and stood back up. "Go back down. I will be there in a minute." Kakashi gave his one-handed wave and closed the door behind him.
Gai took a minute to splash water on his face and calm down. On the way out of the room, he paused and stared at the bed a moment where they had made love just the night before. She would stay with him. She had to. He didn't know what he'd do if she didn't.

Sakura finished up her first batch of the counter to the drug and portioned it out into several tea cups. The irony of it was not lost on her, but she imagined the women would just be happy to be past that part of things.
She found Tenten on the porch looking as if someone had punched her in the solar plexus. She tapped Tenten on the shoulder and Tenten looked up. "I could use some help. Are you okay?"
Tenten wiped her face and stood, nodding. "Yeah. I need to do something, anyway."
They headed back into the inn and together handed the tea out. With the help of the innkeeper, they found beds for the women who were worst off. There were a couple who were from farms very nearby and Tan and Yuki offered to help them get home. The rest were given mats, blankets and pillows and they laid down in the dining room with Kenji's team members and Hitoshi watching over them.
A few of the women still looked at Hitoshi suspiciously, but Sakura did her best to assure them that he was only trying to help. After quite a bit of shuffling, they settled down.
Sakura went back into the kitchen to mix up more of the antidote. She figured they'd need two more doses, at least. After she was sure she had enough, she checked on the women once more before stretching her back and going up to her room, Kakashi's arm around her.
By the time they made it to the top step, however, Kakashi could wait no longer. He pulled her to him and the kiss crashed through them. "I..." Kakashi started, no idea how to say what he wanted to say.
"I know." Sakura answered him. She nibbled on his lip, and he lifted her up, holding her as close to him as he could. They stumbled the last few feet to their door and, once inside, he pinned her up against the door and began nibbling on her neck.
Sakura couldn't touch enough places. Her hands flew everywhere, re-learning his body while her lips tasted anything they could reach. She felt something rip and realized it was her shorts. A moment later, her underwear joined them and he was inside of her.
He groaned at the feeling of her, and they both felt that sense of home that came with being together. Their lips met again and he began moving, but it didn't take long. Before she knew what hit her, Sakura came hard, and Kakashi couldn't hold back when he felt her squeeze around him.
They stood there, panting, unable to catch their breath as the storm subsided. "Good grief..." Sakura mumbled into his shoulder.
Kakashi chuckled. "That's one way of putting it." He steadied himself and carried her directly into the bathroom. He let her down long enough for her to finish getting undressed before he turned the water on. He stripped himself out of his clothes in a few seconds and then he picked her up again and stepped under the hot water.
They spent a long time loving each other under the spray, taking their time just looking and being reminded of their love for each other. Kakashi was infinitely grateful that she was back with him and he was fighting the urge to keep her tied to him for the rest of their life.
Back out in the bedroom, they went straight to bed, though neither would get much sleep that night.

When Gai and Tenten headed up to their room a short time later, they were much more subdued. Despite the things he said to Kakashi earlier, he was still worried about losing his blossom. He held her close to him and he took some comfort in the fact that she didn't seem to want to stop touching him.
Inside the room, she turned to him and started kissing him, almost desperately. Whatever else happened, he would not let her down now and he poured all of himself into the return kisses. He picked her up and carried her to the bed, before slowly removing her clothes and doing his best to show he just how much he loved her.
Tenten soaked up the adoration from Gai and knew that her decision was the right one. In the end, it had never really been a choice. Whatever she felt for Kenji couldn't begin to compare to what she felt for Gai. In the meantime, she tried to show him, through her actions, just how much she loved him.
It was intense and scary all at the same time, but hours later as they drifted off to sleep, Gai began to have real hope.
