“Yes … what rooted hideouts could a bug find?” Jade chuckled playfully as she reached into her pocket and pulled out a fake bug …

“This was a massive failure.” Hiruzen whined as he looked through the reports in front of Danzo, who was the only one on the council able to come to the meeting. Everyone else was helping to clean up the mess or in the hospital with wounds from the failed festival.
Danzo scoffed, “Yumi and Yobaba are ok.” He muttered, not really caring about the aftermath of the festival madness from the day before. Yes, it was his ROOT agents that leaked the information they learned while spying on Naruko and it led to the festival. However, that plan didn’t work out and since it wasn’t helpful in completing his goals he refused to take responsibility.
All things considered Danzo had just as many reasons to be pissed. However, the reasons weren’t the same. Hiruzen wanted to mend a few bonds. Danzo wanted the festival to lure Naruko out into the open to capture her. Both plans were ruined one way or another.
“Yes … but they were only safe because of their bodyguard, who isn’t a Leaf ninja.” Hiruzen grumbled.
“Very true.” Danzo muttered not really interested in the conversation. “That could lead to problems in the future. It wouldn’t be good if our sponsors thought we were weak.” Danzo said before getting bored with wasting his time here. He left without another word leaving Hiruzen to his thoughts. “Any news?” He ordered the ROOT who ran up to him the moment he went into the ROOT hideout.
“Yes, sir. Tsunade and Shizune agreed to help in the hospital. Jiraiya got a letter from his publisher and went to deal with that. It’s only Kakashi and the demon vessel in the house. There was also a sighting of the Akatsuki in the area.” The ROOT agent reported.
Danzo nodded slowly as he pondered how to best use this chance, “Add several false reports to the hospital. Plus, add a false sighting of Naruko running from the village to distract the Akatsuki before you collect her. That should hopefully give us a day, at least. Tell Sasuke to get here.” He ordered and saw one ROOT agent leave to deliver the message. “Has a way into the house been found?”
An agent nodded, “We think we can get in through the basement floor.”
“Do that the second the sun goes down. Don’t let Kakashi discover you. This has to be done before the Akatsuki enter the village.” Danzo ordered.
The last thing he needed was for the Akatsuki to find his breeding stock. Everyone knows that the demon vessel was staying with Kakashi and everyone knows exactly where that is. It will be too easy for Itachi to get one villager to reveal everything. That meant he had to get her out of the way.

“Damn.” Sasuke grumbled before he suddenly launched a fireball and destroyed an innocent tree he was using to train with. As the tree crackled in the flames. ‘That entire festival was a waste.” He grumbled, ignoring the startled bird, who was eating a bug in the very tree he was training with. It was just pure luck that the bird got away before being set ablaze.
At this point the festival only happened a few moments ago. He decided to opt out of helping and train all his frustration away instead. After all, his only concern was getting to Naruko.
For a moment he considered just killing Kakashi, Jiraiya, Tsunade and Shizune. However, the reasonable part of his mind told him it might not be a wise idea. No matter how much he wanted to just remove the obstacles in his way and take her he knew it would cause too much trouble.
“Danzo had better report something soon.” Sasuke muttered in annoyance as he went into his manor on the edge of the deserted Uchiha compound. The very compound he desired to fill up with Uchihas. Sure enough he was visited by a ROOT agent the next day.
The agent kneeled in front of Sasuke as he was training on another defenseless tree, “Sasuke-sama, we’re going to take advantage of a weak point in the seals on Kakashi’s home. Danzo-sama wents you in the hideout when we do.” The ROOT agent reported obediently.
Sasuke scoffed, “Of course.” He said more than a little annoyed that the old fool thinks he can order an Uchiha around.
A smirk came to his lips as he followed the agent who was sent to get him. It was only a matter of time before these agents would all be following his orders. As he mused over his future army he never noticed that he had a follower already.
A follower in the form of a bird. That bird had slightly singed feathers and a bug in its mouth. It was there for him all the way up until he disappeared into the ROOT hideout. After that it flew off to deliver its bug.
“So when are you bringing her?” Sasuke asked as he walked over to Danzo, who was enjoying a tea in his office.
“When it becomes dark.” Danzo said and immediately gritted his teeth when he saw the Uchiha scowl. “You can train until it’s time.” He said hoping that’d be enough to satisfy the impatient 16 year old.
Sasuke scoffed, “Fine. ROOT agents are better than trees anyway.” He said and smirked as Danzo ordered 5 ROOT agents to go with him and train.

Sana gasped in horror as she heard the hotel staff talking, “Was it that bad?” She asked as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
The clerk sighed, “Actually the full extent of the damage is still being figured out even though it happened yesterday.”
“The injuries were pretty bad too.” A member of the cleaning staff said with a shudder. “I believe I heard that nearly everyone had burns from hot curry and that’s only the beginning.”
The clerk smiled apologetically at Sana, “I’m sorry to say that all the businesses in that area were shut down so whatever caused the chaos could be figured out. If you were looking forward to seeing the hot springs then it’s closed for a little while.”
Sana sighed, “That explains a lot. Can’t be helped. Just our luck huh?” She said innocently as she sipped her hot beverage to keep herself from laughing. “My friends and I saw only a glimpse and we immediately got out of there.”
A delicious aroma caught her attention. As Sana listened to the surrounding chatter she went to investigate the smell. She found the smells and bought some things before returning to the hotel room.
“I’d say that festival was a success. I heard all the gossip when I went for coffee.” Sana said cheerfully when she came back into the hotel room with a box of baked goods. “The restaurant downstairs had some fresh baked goodies so I grabbed some. I got some different, almost exotic, butters too.”
Naruko looked up from the medical exam she was doing on Kimimaro on the floor and smiled, “That sounds delicious.” She said and followed Kimimaro, who decided to try to get up and walk to the food. It was clear he was getting stronger.
“Smells good.” Jade said as she came out of the bathroom after clearly having a shower. Everyone heard a click and looked at the sill in their hotel room and saw a bug. “Oh! Hand me a danish.” She said when she walked to the window and saw the selection of pastries.
“Sure!” Naruko exclaimed happily. She was extra happy simply because Kimimaro had improved a lot.
As the bug was retrieved the baked goods were handed out. Jade took a bite of the cheese danish before opening the bug. The line of code that was pulled out seemed to Jade.
“The Akatsuki have arrived.” Jade muttered absentmindedly and she took another bite of her.
“Mmm?!” Kimimaro yelped through a mouthful of a buttery croissant. He quickly swallowed the flaky goodness. “The Akatsuki are here? What should we do?”
Jade hummed casually as she finished reading the report, “To be exact, they’re less than a day away and approaching our side of the village. They’ll definitely try to find out where Haru is, but that shouldn’t matter. The report mentioned ROOT agents got the information so Danzo will grab her first.”
Kimimaro blinked and tilted his head curiously, “Isn’t that a bad thing?”
“Only if we don’t get there in time.” Naruko said as she glanced out the window. “It’d probably be best to not be seen leaving the hotel.” She commented as she ripped a piece of her buttered roll and gave it to her spiders.
Jade shrugged, “Shouldn’t be a problem. I’m sure Jiraiya followed the instructions to a tee.”
With a quick jump Naruko was now on the ceiling. After a few minutes she finished a seal that took up the entire surface of the ceiling. Once she finished a second bug landed on the window sill and it held a video of Sasuke going right into the ROOT hideout including the password to open the door.

A team of three ROOT agents watched the home where their blonde target lived. They obediently watched the home until the sun went down. Right around the end of dinner they could see Kakashi stretch and head to his bedroom. Once they were sure that Kakashi was asleep, or at least busy with whatever he was doing, they located Naruko. With one look through the front windows they found her lying on the couch reading a book. It seemed like the coast was clear so they made their move.
Only two ROOT agents headed around the house first. The third agent waited to see if Kakashi would notice anything. After a very subtle rumble one of the other ROOT agents looked around the corner and nodded. Of course the other ROOT agent made sure Kakashi wasn’t alerted, but then quickly joined the two other ROOT agents.
After turning the corner the three agents descended down a freshly made tunnel. The earth jutsu that must’ve created the tunnel was able to go deep enough so the agents could stand up straight and went all the way under the house. At the end of the tunnel they saw the basement floor right above them.
Thankfully, the basement floor was wood. One of the ROOT agents pulled out a scroll. After unsealing a little jar and backing up a bit they made a hand sign. Some of the liquid in the jar sprang to life and coated the wood. It soon became clear as to why this method of applying the liquid was used. After all, the wood quickly started to disintegrate and that didn’t sound like something that should be applied by hand.
By the time the jar and scroll were put away there was a hole in the basement floor. The liquid was allowed a little more time to silently eat away the wood. However, once the hole was big enough they leapt through. Unfortunately for them their feet touched the floor and they regretted it. In an instant the ROOT agents collapsed as a very heavy force dragged them down to the floor. They never saw the seals on the floor or, more importantly, the ceiling above them. Before they could even recover and try to stand, two people raced into the basement and broke their necks.
“That was easy.” Kakashi said as he tapped the seals on the ceiling. It glowed once and immediately after three people, Naruko, Jade and Sana, appeared on it. “Naruko!” He exclaimed happily when the blue eyed women dropped down from the ceiling. Naruko hugged him and he noticed her three spiders weren’t with her right now. After the hug ended the air became more serious.
“Are there any others watching?” Jade asked as she, Sana and Naruko helped Haru strip the dead bodies.
Kakashi shook his head, “There doesn’t seem to be any others. Our clones are going around the house to look for any signs, but it seems they all came in at once.”
“Good.” Jade said as Sana and Naruko changed into the agents’ uniforms. With a few tweaks no one would notice a difference and they also created a third ROOT uniform. “Ready for your end?” She asked Kakashi who simply nodded.

A group of people with black cloaks with red clouds entered the village under the cover of very dim early morning light. Without any concern they grabbed the first civilian they found. One of the cloaked figures held a kunai at the terrified civilian’s throat as another leaned over.
“Please don’t hurt me!” The civilian cried out only to freeze in fear and pale when he recognized the person in front of him. “Itachi?”
“Yes.” Itachi said without any emotion as he looked into the civilian’s eyes and activated the Sharingan. “Where is the demon vessel for the nine tailed fox?”
A dazed look came over the civilian’s eyes, “Naruko Namikaze lives with Kakashi Hatake in his seal enforced home.” He said and proceeded to give them the exact address and a quick description of Naruko.
“Exactly what we need.” The blue skinned man in the group said right before killing the civilian.
Itachi and the man with the orange mask led the entire group towards the address mentioned. Just as they were getting ready to completely destroy the home to avoid wasting their time on seals they saw two people jumping out of a tunnel carrying someone. The unconscious person being carried away matched the description of the demon vessel.
Itachi raised an eyebrow, “ROOT is involved.”
“I’ll thank them personally.” The blonde bomb user said and immediately sent an explosive bird at the retreating ROOT agents and the unconscious demon vessel.
