----------A couple hours later----------
Sasuke stirred and pushed up on his elbows slowly looking down at Naruto below him. He looked a little disoriented and confused at the moment, not having experienced that kind of rest in a long time.
“Welcome back, sleepyhead,” Naruto teased and lifted his head to kiss Sasuke's nose. “Y'know, you make a really good blanket.”
Smirking slightly he rolled off of Naruto and onto his back beside him. “How long...?” he asked still not fully awake and feeling better than he had in many, many months.
“Couple hours.” Already missing Sasuke's warmth Naruto rolled on top of him, folding his arms on Sasuke's chest and resting his chin on top of them. “Dream anything?” he asked curiously.
An elegantly long fingered and pale hand came up to caress Naruto's cheek and then slid up to tangle in the hair just above Naruto's ear still partially cupping Naruto's cheek. “Just you...” he murmured looking into Naruto's eyes and let his thumb stroke over the fox-boy's cheekbone.
Naruto gave him a loving smile and scooted up to kiss him tenderly. When he broke the kiss he climbed off him and began to fish through his things for clean clothes. “C'mon, lazy bum,” he teased. “Let's go to the festival. I promise I'll win you something.” He gave Sasuke a playful wink.
“I can win something on my own...” he grumbled but got to his feet and pulled on some clean clothes. They just happened to be his old blue shirt and white shorts and he stretched feeling a lot more comfortable in the old outfit than he did in the one piece black suit he'd taken to wearing while training with Kakashi.
Laughing Naruto hugged him and gave him a quick kiss after he'd pulled on his orange pants and a black undershirt. It was a little too warm tonight for his jacket. “But aren't you supposed win your date something when you go to a festival?” he asked with a grin as he grabbed Sasuke's hand to pull him out of the cave. This was going to be so much fun!
Falling into step beside Naruto after making him slow down a little he pulled his hand away and draped that arm over Naruto's shoulders. “Then I'll make sure to win you something good and you can win me something good and we'll call it even...” he muttered and kissed Naruto's temple as he pulled his arm off Naruto's shoulder and then took off for the festival at top ninja-speed expecting Naruto to be able to keep up.
Naruto did and just as they got there beat Sasuke to the small village's gate with a quick burst of speed. “I win,” he fox-grinned at his lover before dragging him by the hand to the closest food booth. Naruto hadn't had anything to eat yet and was hungry.
Sasuke bought Naruto everything he could possibly eat and promised to buy more ramen before they left. It was while they were playing one of the games that Sasuke felt the hair on the back of his head rise. They were being watched. Slowly he turned his head enough to look from one side to the other getting full range of vision with his peripheral sight, searching for whoever it was watching them.
“Alright!” Naruto cheered as he won the game and chose a really neat animal mask for Sasuke. “Here you go!” He noticed the serious look on Sasuke's face and his own fell a bit. “Sasuke, what is it?” Something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and he turned his head just in time to see a bit of red-on-black coat disappear around a booth. He felt his mouth go dry. ::Chikuso... I hope that wasn't what I think it was...:: “Did you see that?” he asked under his breath knowing that Sasuke could hear him, his lips barely moving.
Sasuke reached out and caught Naruto's wrist pulling him close taking the mask and putting in on the side of his head, since there wouldn't be any reason for him to wear it and try to move with it on. “Let's enjoy ourselves... and if I know Itachi he won't flee simply because we're looking for him. He might even bring the fight to us... Knowing my brother.” He tugged Naruto forward over the last little distance and kissed him lightly on the lips before letting him go completely. “Have you seen anything you'd like me to win you?”
Naruto just raised an eyebrow at him and gave him a wicked smirk. “Maybe.” A mischievous look in his eye he turned on his heel and headed for the next game booth. He'd focus on having a good time with Sasuke and deal with Itachi when he showed himself.
Following the blond Sasuke set himself to the task of winning Naruto anything the blond wanted. It was way into the wee hours of the morning when Sasuke's senses prickled again and he came up behind Naruto wrapping his arms about the blond's waist nuzzling behind his ear affectionately. “We've got some company...”
“I noticed,” Naruto muttered, leaning back into Sasuke as if nothing was wrong. Kyuubi had alerted him to the malevolent presence just before Sasuke had mentioned it. There were eight people coming towards them and two of them felt very familiar. “How about we go welcome them?”
“Ha~…” Sasuke murmured and together they headed out their expression that of Ninja going to battle. They stopped in a relatively low populated area of the town, a part that wasn't part of the festival grounds and Sasuke braced himself. “Are you ready, Naruto?” he asked sensing the nearness of their enemies.
Naruto just grinned at him, revealing elongated canines. His eyes went red and cat-pupiled as Sasuke watched. “Yes.”
“Looks like you two have gotten very... friendly... since I saw you last,” a cold, emotionless voice said from behind them.
Sasuke smirked turned to face the voice and reached over hooking an arm around Naruto's waist pulling the foxy blond in front of him and wrapped his other arm around Naruto's waist sliding one hand under Naruto's shirt to rest on his stomach. “A little more than friendly, aniki...” he purred and nibbled Naruto's ear. ::How far can I push you... shoving it in your face that in the end I didn't need you or anything from you?::
If Itachi was one to bristle, he would have done that right then. As it was his old-blood red eyes narrowed as he glared at Sasuke. His pride was still sore from when Sasuke had knocked him out and just left him there, not even putting the effort in to kill him... and that he'd managed to take his "prize" away from him. But the major blow to his ego had been when the leader of the Akatsuki had ordered that the next time he face Sasuke, Itachi had to have the rest of the Akatsuki with him, not just his partner. "This boy is a danger to us," their leader had said, "and if you cannot take him out on your own then you will take backup with you." Itachi's glare shifted to Naruto when the blonde moved.
Naruto put his hand on his stomach over Sasuke's hand and tangled their fingers together, giving all eight of the ninja in front of them warning looks. He had never liked killing but he would if he had to... and he had the hunch that there would be deaths very soon. Turning his head he captured Sasuke's mouth in a hungry kiss. “Be careful,” he breathed against his lips. If any of them so much as scratched his Sasuke they were going to be fighting a fully Kyuubi-fied Naruto.
Kisame fidgeted. Itachi was pratically radiating Killing Intent. The blatant display of non-chalance and defiance thrown in his partner's face by his little brother and their escaped mission... Things were about to get ugly.
“You too...” he murmured and licked Naruto's lips his attitude possessive. His eyes turned to blood then and he looked up over Naruto's shoulder his fangs indenting his lower lip boldly. *Do you remember our plan?*
“Yes,” Naruto murmured as his attention focused on Itachi and he began to glow with blood-red chakra.
Calmly Itachi stepped forward, carefully watching Sasuke and Naruto. Especially Naruto. He knew that when Naruto started tapping on Kyuubi's power it meant trouble. The others stayed where they were, except for Kisame. Earlier they had come to the agreement that the other six would leave the two young ninja to Itachi and his partner, only stepping in to assist if they absolutely needed it.
Stepping around Naruto Sasuke took a couple steps towards Itachi prepared to lunge and then when Itachi crouched to meet him... he leapt. For Kisame. He had nothing to fear from the Samehada. He wasn't going to use Chakra, and the Sharingan deactivated as a warning. Sasuke lunged at Kisame by-passing Itachi easily and leaving him to Naruto. The rest of the Akatsuki were staying off to the side, but Sasuke knew they'd end up in the fray anyway. It was no matter. Sasuke's objective right now was to break the Samehada!
The fact that Sasuke came for him and not Itachi caught Kisame off-guard, but he brought his Samehada up and swung it at Sasuke, catching the youth in the mid-section forcefully. Kisame's expression darkened as Sasuke caught onto the Samehada and held it effectively slowing and then stopping the swing. “Nanda...” he began when Sasuke flexed his body and pulled. Kisame was hard put to keep the sword in his hands. Essentially it broke down to a fierce tug of war... although Kisame had the sinking feeling that for the moment he was simply playing with Kisame and giving Naruto time to deal with Itachi. Growling Kisame pulled harder and felt his frustration build as the Samehada failed to weaken Sasuke even a little bit.
Knowing better than to meet Itachi's gaze, Naruto focused on his gaze on Itachi's feet and his attention on his presence. Now that Sasuke wasn't next to him he let Kyuubi's chakra flare and lowered onto all fours, his whiskers thickening and his canines extending past his bottom lip. His nails grew into three-inch claws. The fox's chakra pulsed once more before surrounding him in the shape of a four-tailed fox.
Itachi got out of the way just in time as all of a sudden Naruto leapt, almost clawing his eyes out. Naruto had never done this before and his instincts screamed at him that he was in serious trouble. He couldn't even predict Naruto's moves and that... unsettled him. All his energy had to go into evading the fox-holder's attacks. He was actually beginning to consider calling in the other Akatsuki ninja for assitance.
“ITACHI-SAMA!! We NEED to call in the others!!” he shouted and tried to pull the sword back from Sasuke who wasn't budging even a centimeter.
“Tch.” Sasuke snorted and yanked hard enough to pull the sword away. It wriggled madly in his grasp the filanges scales waving crazily. Sasuke grasped the edge at one end and then the opposite edge at the other end and twisted. The blade practically screamed and then it snapped in half as if he had torn a piece of paper. Kisame came to a dead stand still and Sasuke smirked wickedly smug as the sharkman stared openly.
Grunting softly as Naruto's fierce chakra grazed his face, leaving behind an angry red burn, Itachi gave the signal that he needed help - he pulled out his katana and began to fight back almost desperately. But any hit he scored on the demon-holder healed instantaneously... he was fighting a losing battle and he knew it.
Naruto opened his mouth to let out the demon's howl as he attacked, forgetting about everything but the ninja in front of him that deserved to die - for all the pain Itachi had caused him, for all the pain he had given Sasuke...
Turning fast, Sasuke chucked the Samehada's pieces in Naruto's direction, sensing instantly Naruto's fading consciousness. He wanted to end this soon if that was what was going to happen while Naruto was like this. The two halves ended up on the ground at Naruto's feet between the demon-holder and the Mangenkyou Sharingan User. *Naruto!* his mind shouted into Naruto's thoughts hoping to bring him back to himself faster.
Kisame almost cheered - silently to himself of course - when the rest of the Akatsuki poured out into the battle. He prepared himself to lunge for Sasuke but something changed in their opponents.
Knowing what the sword at his feet meant Naruto leapt for Kisame, not even giving him a chance to react before claws were digging into his throat. None of the Akatsuki dared to get near him or his powerful chakra that was currently burning Kisame to the bone.
Itachi turned to help his partner but came face to face with his brother. “Looks like you've aquired quite the pet,” he grit out, glaring murderously at the vampire.
“He isn't my pet...” Sasuke stated his voice chill and venomous. “He's my mate,” the vampire growled and bared his fangs reaching for Itachi. The Akatsuki was almost on them when Sasuke's Telekinetics kicked out creating an invisible but tangible barrier keeping the other members of the Akatsuki out. “And you... are no longer worthy of the name Uchiha....” he added in a voice filled with vengeance as his fists sank into Itachi's cloak and hauled the older but no longer taller Uchiha to him. Blood red eyes met blood red eyes and Sasuke bared his fangs. “I claim my vengeance and the retribution of my Clan!” he declared and jerked Itachi up his fangs sinking deeply into the struggling Itachi's neck. The blood that spilled over his tongue was sweet and heady, drenched in power and soaked in strength. Sasuke's mind retreated from Itachi's leaving his unwilling donor cold and without the wonderful sensations it gave those of the willing variety. But as he brought Itachi down to a weak and helpless level Sasuke really reached into the traitor's mind and ripped apart every channel of power, destroying the Chakra circulatory system's triggers in the brain and rendering Itachi incapable of the able use of any Ninjutsu or Genjutsu. Finally he permanently laid the Sharingan to rest in his brother's mind and let Itachi drop to the ground at his feet. Itachi had never stood a chance.
No more chance than Kisame who lay melted beneath the fierce burn of Naruto's immense Chakra. The other Akatsuki were prepared to fight and as soon as the barrier dropped they lunged in, but Sasuke was heady with his victory and drunk with his brother's blood and the power it had once contained. Mindlessly he caught up another of the Akatsuki and drained him dry, moving from one to the other leaving only those that Naruto took care of, but when the last Ninja of the Akatsuki fell, Sasuke turned empty Blood Lusting eyes looking for the massive body of people he could Sense so nearby. More blood, was the only thought in his mind.
Completely helpless Itachi could only watch as all his companions died at the hands of his brother and the demon-holder. His entire body burned with pain. Not even the pain of a broken jaw and nose came close to this... and it certainly didn't help that his sudden depletion of blood was making him very light-headed. It wasn't long before he slipped into unconsciousness from deprivation of oxygen to his brain.
Naruto paused in shredding Kisame's body when he noticed the bloodlust practically coming off Sasuke in waves. His instincts screamed at him to establish his dominance and he lept onto Sasuke's back, sinking his teeth into Sasuke's neck after subconsciously getting rid of his chakra shell. It wouldn't do to kill his mate, after all.
Sasuke hit the ground flat on his stomach and laid there panting, the Blood Lust taking almost entirely too long to leave him. It was a long time before he was calmed and when that time finally came he shifted a little beneath his mate and groaned feeling overly full. “Naruto?”
When he bit into Sasuke's neck, Naruto's mouth filled with Sasuke's blood and he reflexively swallowed. He lay there on top of Sasuke for a long moment, feeling strangely heady, before getting up very unsteadily. He tottered for a moment, not quite able to find his footing and feeling very light-headed, and then fell flat on his back unconscious.
Naruto's head landed in the lap of one very concerned vampire. It took him a moment to realize what the problem was, but in the end he chalked it up to the exact same but in the end he chalked it up to being the exact same reaction he had to Naruto's blood the first time. Gathering the blond up in his arms carefully Sasuke stood and cradled Naruto to his chest and without a backwards glance he headed back to the Onsen to wait out Naruto's drunken stupor.
---------Three days later--------
A deep sigh signaled Naruto's awakening and he slowly opened his eyes for the first time since he'd fallen unconscious into Sasuke's lap. Feeling a little disoriented he looked around. He was in the cave by the hot spring, and judging by the faint light coming in it was twilight... or predawn. He couldn't tell.
“Good morning,” Sasuke greeted his lover, kneeling beside him and reaching out to caress Naruto's cheek gently. “How are you feeling?” he asked, concern in his voice.
“Hungry,” Naruto grunted as he stretched and sat up, raking a hand through messy spikes. “How about you?” he asked as he pulled Sasuke close for a quick good morning kiss. “Is it really morning?”
“Ha~…” he murmured and kissed Naruto back softly. “I went to the town again yesterday and got you more Ramen since we ran out of time at the festival.” He ran his fingers through Naruto's hair lightly and then kissed his brow. “I'll make some for...”
“Wait a sec,” Naruto cut in, confused. “If it's morning then how come you're still up? You should be Resting, shouldn't you?”
“I haven't had to rest for the last few days...” he answered and brushed his lips over Naruto's brow. “Between feeding from you for the last little while and then my gluttony that day...” he shrugged a little. “I'll be right back. I have to get you some water.” and he stood as he said it, reaching over to grab a waterskin and then turned heading right for the mouth of the cave and the bright day beyond.
“Wait!” Naruto called, jumping up to his feet and dashing after him into the light. “You're gonna get... burned...” His warning died as Sasuke walked right into a ray of sunlight and it didn't hurt him in the least. His look of confusion deepened. “Well, that's new... When did this happen?!”
“The battle with my brother and the Akatsuki ended early morning. I didn't even notice it was daylight until I got you back here and settled and then I realized I wasn't affected by the light,” he squatted near the fresh water river that ran unusually close to the onsen and dipped the water skin. “I'm not sure why... the power in the blood I drank the fact that some of it was my brother's blood.... your blood on top of everything else...” he shrugged one shoulder and stood the water skin full and headed back towards their cave. “Whatever. I haven't seen the sun in three years.”
“O...kay...” Naruto just stood there for a moment before re-entering the cave and flopping onto his bedroll, muttering things about strange dreams and how he woke up soon so he could return to reality.
Smirking Sasuke settled down to make the ramen and when it was done he turned to Naruto. “Breakfast? It's Cup Miso Pork.” The way he figured it Naruto would figure it out on his own after he was more awake and had had his three or four cup ramen.
“Quiet, I'm trying to wake up from this weird dream...” Naruto had an arm over his eyes to block out the light and was trying to force himself back to sleep. Of course it wasn't working since he'd just finished three days of solid sleep.
With a sigh Sasuke slid over to kneel beside Naruto and reached out grabbing both of Naruto's wrists pulling them away and apart. “Naruto... you need to eat, dobe. And this isn't a dream. It's accelerated evolution.”
Naruto gave him a blank look. “Huh?”
“I think that the amount of power I gained from feeding from you and then glutting on the Akatsuki shoved my Powers, tolerances and abilities into an accelerated growth meaning I don't think I'm a fledgling any longer.” He leaned down resting his forehead to Naruto's as his body hovered over the other boy's.
“I'm going to pretend I understood that,” Naruto murmured, tilting his head up to kiss Sasuke. He'd woken up hungry for more than just food.
Sasuke agreed and purred against Naruto's mouth his lips pressing against Naruto's eagerly. He'd missed this and having had to wait until Naruto woke out of decency had been very difficult.
The moment was completely ruined by the loud roar of Naruto's stomach. He broke the kiss and gave Sasuke a sheepish grin, but it quickly turned wicked. “We can continue this as soon as I've eaten, ne?” he murmured.
“Eat up,” was Sasuke's immediate answer and then Sasuke settled back in the bedrolls to wait for Naruto to finish off however much of the ramen he needed.
While Naruto devoured his breakfast he asked Sasuke all about what had happened at and after the end of the battle with the Akatsuki. The last thing he clearly remembered was digging his claws into Kisame's throat. He wasn't surprised by the fact that he'd slept for three days, but he was surprised that Sasuke had left Itachi alive. “Are you sure that was a good idea?” he asked around a mouthful of noodles.
“There is no way for him to restore the channels I blocked in his mind. He's at less than Lee's level right now, being unable to use more than Taijutsu, but he does not know the 8 gates. What can he do now... weak as he is?” Sasuke asked having answered everything else as in detail and explanation as possible.
“Point,” Naruto conceded and downed the rest of his breakfast. Settling down next to Sasuke he gave him a fox-grin. “So... now that we have all the time in the world to do whatever we want - at least until the old hag sends people looking for us... Any ideas?” he asked, playing innocent.
Sasuke turned his full attention on Naruto and actually grinned. “Just one. We move away from this village here and find a nice, quiet, and secluded cabin somewhere.” Sasuke reached out and pulled Naruto to him then and kissed him soundly. “But the best idea I've had so far was the idea where you and I spent most of our time in each other's arms in the most passionate of embraces,” he purred and turned to face Naruto entirely leaning forward and kissing him gently, but suggestively.
Naruto kissed him back eagerly, tangling a hand in Sasuke's hair to hold him close. “That's the best idea I think I've ever heard...” he purred against Sasuke's lips. “Whaddya say we get the finding a cabin over with right now so we can go and 'embrace' all we want?”
The temporary impulsive grin left Sasuke's face entirely then and he licked at Naruto's lips, going from unusually expressive to enticing. “Ha~…” he murred and then stood slowly helping Naruto to his feet and together they began to pack up. It would be a long time before they headed home to Konoha, but it was vacation time that they well deserved and needed badly.
