Naruto looked in the mostly empty room, his blood boiling.
He was just about to slam his fist in the vault door when a firm hand was placed on his shoulder, stopping him instantly.
“Now is not the time little brother.” Akio’s tone left no room for argument.
Naruto looked back at the older man to see his dragon eye was fully activated as he scanned the contents of the vault.
“What do you see Akio?” Tsunade asked with a raised eyebrow.
“The room is untouched; there may be evidence that can be collected.”
Akio then pulled out a small container full of a dark powder, and then blew the entire contents into the vault. The cloud of dust flew into the vault, covering everything until it reached the back wall.
“If you will observe, the powder will cling to anything, including the oils from our skin or substances that people step in, revealing both finger prints and footprints together.
Akio then channeled chakra into the room, the powder began to glow for a moment, and then faded revealing several footprints and finger prints, some were colored red and others were colored blue.
“Akio, what’s with the different colors?” Naruto asked.
“The different colors is the difference in age, while I cannot pinpoint the exact age, I can round it to the nearest.
The blue prints are the oldest ones, there is just enough to make the imprints visible, I can only assume they were made by the first people to enter the vault.
The red prints have the most substance to them, meaning they are the newest, but being red means they are still a number of years old, I would surmise between three and six years.”
Tsunade glared at the vault for a moment.
“The third Hokage would have been aware if anyone tampered with the vault, It would have had to been after his death and before I took office.
The only one that would have been able to do this is Danzo and his root.”
“What is this root that you speak of?” Akio asked still looking in the room.
“They are a splinter organization. When a man named Danzo was alive, they operated outside of the law, assassinating anyone that was seen as a threat to the village.
Problem was that they didn’t care who the target was, any threat would be eliminated, even if it was a member of the feudal lord’s family or other people of important position.” Tsunade said with a satisfied grin.
“A problem to deal with I’m sure.”
“Thankfully the old bastard is dead now, his root has been mostly reabsorbed into the main ninja forces, but his ghost still haunts us and probably will for many years to come.”
“If Danzo is the only one that could have done this, then that just leave us with one choice, we go to what remains of root and take what belongs to me, even if I have to beat everyone that crosses my path.” Naruto growled.
“I couldn’t agree more Naruto, its time that we actually take a look at what root has been up to all this time, and for that we will need someone that knows about the inner workings of root, they will meet us there.” Tsunade said with an evil smile.

After entering a network of tunnels and passages, Naruto and the others were joined by Kakashi, Yamato and the rest of Akio’s team.
The small army quickly found themselves in a large opening with dozens of pipes and other obstacles, below was a four way platform with a single root AMBU standing on it waiting for their arrival.
“Hokage-sama, how may I be of service to you?” the masked man asked with a respectful bow.
“I am investigating the disappearance of the clan scrolls of the forth Hokage and his wife, that rightfully belong to Naruto.
We have reason to believe that root might have some idea to where they might be, so I am asking nicely if you happen to know anything about that.”
The man was silent for several seconds until Tsunade began to crack her knuckles in annoyance.
“Forgive me Hokage-sama, I do not personally know what scrolls specifically belong to Naruto-san as Danzo-sama had acquired a great number of them and many other items over the years.
However I do know that there were two scrolls that he did find most infuriating in his possession, as he was unable to un seal them to find their contents.”
“And where would these scrolls be?” Naruto asked in a growl.
The root member stood up and pointed in a direction.
“Down in that direction is the location of Danzo-sama’s personal collection as he called it, things that he felt were of importance that only he should have access to.
If you will allow me, I will lead you to the area in question.”
Tsunade gave the man a nod, and then looked at Akio.
“He is telling the truth, I also do not detect any seals on him that would compel him to lie or trick him into thinking he is telling the truth.”
“Oi root, if that old bastard has been dead this long, why are you still stalking these halls?” Naruto asked.
“We have not been reassigned yet, or released of our duties here, until such time; we will continue with the last orders we were given.”
“That is the other reason I’m here, I want to see how many root have not been accounted for.” Tsunade added in.
“Only a dozen or so Tsunade-sama, including doctors and other scientists, the others were already reassigned into other divisions under your direct command.”
The contingent of people made their way down the passage until they reached a large door.
The root AMBU quickly performed a number of signs and dispelled a seal and gently pushed the door open.
Inside, Tsunade growled at the large number of scrolls that were locked up in the room she could only think of as a library, they continued on to a display in the far back where a stand held four scrolls, three with the Uzumaki clan seal, the forth had the seal of the Forth Hokage.
“These are the scrolls obtained from the vault, Lady Tsunade.
However, there are a number of other Uzumaki scrolls that Danzo had obtained from other locations.” The Root ANBU said as he pulled another six scrolls from a nearby shelf.
Tsunade took all the scrolls, and then handed them to Naruto.
“These belong to you by all right; I hope you understand the responsibility of having them and what it symbolizes.”
The root ANBU then handed the six smaller scrolls also bearing the Uzumaki seal to Tsunade.
Naruto started to scan the area around him, shelves loaded to the brim with scrolls, some looked older than Konoha its self, when his attention was directed to another corridor, something pulling him in that direction.
“Naruto, is something wrong?” Kakashi called bringing his attention away from the corridor.
“I don’t know, there is something over there.” Naruto then looked at the ANBU. “What’s over there?”
“That would be one of the labs, the only one actually active in the entire facility. Do you wish to see it?”
“Yeah, I can feel something in there that isn’t right, and if it’s one of Danzo’s little projects I don’t think it’s something that should go unchecked.”
Naruto walked down the short hall and entered a massive libratory, in it there were hundreds of large glass vats, many of them were empty, some were smashed and others were just missing all together save for the components on the floor and ceiling.
Naruto then came across two of the tanks that were different, they were still in use.
Inside each one, was a young woman about his age, one with long black hair, the other had red.
The only thing that really bothered him was that each one actually had an umbilical cord that connected to a mass of flesh, fused with components of the vat.
He was just about to reach for the controls when a voice stopped him.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you, unless you plan on killing both of them.”
Naruto turned to see a man sitting at a computer desk with his feet up, in the dark room carelessly reading a news paper.
“Who the hell are you?” Naruto asked with a growl.
“I am the only one that keeps the two of them alive, Seishu Hanaoka, the only one still here, with medical knowledge.”
Naruto could hear footsteps behind him as Tsunade and the others entered the lab.
“Just what the hell is this?” Tsunade roared.
Seishu just turned to the next page of the newspaper, then let out a soft sigh.
“This is clearly a laboratory, if you want to know what the operation is; it’s a genetic cloning experiment that was ordered by that cock sucker Danzo.
He had obtained the genetic materials of a few people of interest to him; the first three were from sound village during Chuunin exam that the Third Hokage died.
The other five were also from the sound village, after little Sasuke ran away from his problems.” Seishu turned another page and continued to read.
Tsunade growled at the man. “What was that bastard planning with these genetic samples of his?”
“I believe he wanted to create some special shinobi, special abilities and what have you that would be very hard to counter, and he wanted a few different versions of them.
The first batch was to be perfect clones of the originals; the second was to be hybrids between them, then the third was going to be a different kind of special tasked clones.” Seishu then turned to the next page.
“What happened to the other clones, why are there only the two of them?” Naruto asked.
“The first batch had a problem, because of the modifications that Orochimaru had done, normal cloning was not possible, so other samples had to be obtained; specifically the unfertilized eggs of the two women were harvested and used to create the clones in a different way.
Sadly one eventually broke out of his vat and began to attack; in the process he destroyed the other subjects, the rest of the samples and would have destroyed these two had he not been killed.”
“What is it that you plan to do with them then, now that Danzo is dead?” Kakashi asked watching the doctor very closely.
“Nothing really, considering I don’t have any new orders, I will continue with the standing order that he gave me, and wait for new ones.
Till then I will keep them alive, healthy and read the news.”
“If you grew them from an embryo, how is it they are so much older than when they died?” Tsunade asked.
“I used an enzyme that accelerated growth, primarily used in plants, but altered for the use of this project. I am happy to say that it was all destroyed along with the formula as it caused the subjects great pain.”
“What were the enhancements for these two?” Naruto asked, not taking his eyes off of them.
“They were made for more advanced diversionary tactics, enhancing their already existing abilities in Genjutsu but also making them more adapt to physical combat too by strengthening their bodies.
But seeing as now that you are her Tsunade-sama, what are your orders for me? I did put in a request for new orders some time ago, and what is to become of the two women?”
“There are only three logical choices to make here.” Akio said standing next to Naruto.
“The first is to leave them and abandon them to their fate. The second is to just kill them and let it be done, but the third option would be the hardest is to release them, tend to their needs and when they are ready to make the choice themselves, allow them to walk their own path.”
Naruto was looking back and forth at the two women in the tanks, their faces just visible under the breathing masks on their faces, as they floated lifelessly.
“If they are just genetic clones, what good are they to even keep alive? Would they not be empty shells that would have to be trained and educated like a child?” Yamato asked.
“Even if they are just empty shells, they are still living beings. It doesn’t matter if someone has to teach them everything from day one, they are alive and nothing is preventing them from being able to leave the tubes.” Naruto said glaring at the older man.
“Actually, the process of cloning the individual’s results in them retaining all memories until the time of death, the one named Tayuya would remember the last battle she was in until the time of death in the forest, she will in fact wake up rather startled and confused, the last three versions of her did that. Kin will remember being betrayed by Orochimaru for the reanimation jutsu. She will wake up screaming for mercy and will need to be sedated quickly.” Seishu said finally getting up from his chair.
Akio stood next to Tsunade and whispered something to her, earning an evil smirk from the woman.
“Then it is decided, Naruto you will be the one that will take care of them, Sakura, Ino and Hinata will assist you to prevent any embarrassing situations.”
“What?” Naruto shouted.
“None of you have any missions, especially considering your current conditions; it would also allow you to develop diplomatic skills to individuals that will be personally hostile, but completely dependent on you to survive. It will give them the choice and you the challenge to cooperate with each other, these are standard skills for a Jounin, if you cannot master them, then you will never be able to reach Jounin rank.”
Naruto closed his eyes as he processed the information.
“Naruto, these women just like Orochimaru’s other subjects have been experimented on, imprisoned and used as expendable tools, they have no one to turn to, alone and isolated. Something I think you know all too well.” Seishu said also looking at the women.
“I understand and accept the responsibility; I will do everything in my power to help them cope with the changes they are going to face. Please release them.” Naruto politely asked with a bow.
Seishu walked over to a master control and began to operate the device as several other machines came to life.
The umbilical cords from each woman were connected to a mass of flesh with a picc line attached, the IV lines connected to another device sticking into the mounds as fluids were feeding into them, in turn supplying the women with unknown necessities.
Both women began to slowly move in the tanks, their fingers toes and eventually their arms as they began to wake.
Another sound was heard as the tanks the girls were in began to drain of the liquid that kept them adrift inside, their bodies starting to move more as they began to regain consciousness, the tubes lifted up from the base of the main vats.
Seishu and Tsunade rushed to the two women and severed the umbilical cords as they would a newborn infant, then proceeded to cover them both with over sized lab coats while removing the breathing masks.
“F...F…fucking hell you limp dick bastards.” The red head stuttered with a cough.
“P…P…Please Orochimaru-sama, don’t do it.” The raven haired woman pleaded.
“Its ok girls, you are safe now.” Tsunade cooed both women.
Tsunade and Seishu both used a medical jutsu on the girls to keep them unconscious, and then cradled them both bridal style while they slept.
“We will take them to the hospital under light guard, Naruto I want you to stay there and be the first one they see from the village when they wake up, we will keep them together to hopefully have someone they can connect with from their days with Orochimaru.”
As the leaf ninja and their dragon clan allies began to leave, the root ANBU began to smash the remaining devices, rendering them useless.
Tsunade looked at the masked man with a questioning expression.
“Forgive me Hokage-sama, but such technology should not exist for it will be misused by someone, even with good intentions at heart.”
Tsunade gave a nod and signaled for him to follow along.

After leaving the two women in the hospital under Naruto’s watch, Tsunade sat at her desk reading over the legal documents that were left by Shan when a knock on the door diverted her train of thought.
“Enter.” The older woman called.
Shizune followed by Akio and Juro entered her office, Juro holding a number of scrolls immediately caught her attention as she held the bridge of her nose as a headache started to form.
“Do not fret Tsunade, the scrolls are just here to provide proof that what we say is in fact true, you need not read them all.” Akio assured her.
“Alright Akio, I’m going to hold you to that.
Now I assume that this is related to Naruto and his clan status, so what sort of plot were you able come up with?”
“First off my lady, there is no plot. We are simply following the word of the law, as it is written.” Akio assured her before stepping aside.
“During the meeting regarding Naruto-san’s clan standing, Justiciar Shan had said several times “as the law is written” indicating there may be a loophole that could be exploited. As I conducted my research into the legalities of the land of fire, I also expanded my search regarding treaties between the both of our nations and clan traditions.
I have discovered the very thing that Naruto-san needs, and should we be able to find the willing individuals, Naruto will be able to have the clan that he has desired for so long, and a family to go with it.” Juro said in a most official tone.
Tsunade just looked at the man, absorbing everything he had said.
“Ok I want to know everything that you learned that will help the brat.” She smirked.
Juro gave her a bow.
“In accordance to the law, as it was written, a clan cannot be created with fewer than ten fertile members, ones that are able to have children.
It does not state how these clan members are a part of the clan and according to the laws of marriage, marriage to a male member of a clan immediately puts a woman under the husband’s clan banner as well.
In accordance to the nations laws regarding clan traditions, the traditions of a clan must be respected and cannot be discriminated against, even if the standing laws of the nation in question frown on an act, assuming there are no human sacrifices or other dark rituals involved, they must be accepted.
As an ally to this nation, our clan’s traditions must also be respected under the treaty that was signed between the nations daimyo protecting our tradition of making Naruto and Kakashi-san our sworn brothers, and in part members of our clan. This if you remember allows Naruto to follow our own traditions including being able to marry as many people that will agree to the terms, if he was also willing to as well.”
Shizune stood there for a moment before her eyes crossed and she needed to sit down.
“So you are saying that because Naruto is a brother to your clan, he might be able to get the ten people he needs to revive his?” Tsunade asked trying to clear things up.
“Yes, according to the laws, Naruto-san has the right to follow our traditions as if he was a full clan member, and one of our traditions is the following of happiness and love.
If Naruto-san is able to find at least ten women that would agree to marry him, either for love or political reasons should suffice in meeting that requirement.” Akio explained.
“I can’t think of anyone else that would have an interest in Naruto.
Shizune, find me every mission report involving Naruto and any women close to his age that are currently available.” Tsunade ordered.
Just before her assistant could leave, a voice spoke up.
“I think I can save you the troubles Hokage-sama.” Kakashi said sitting at the window reading one of his books.
“Before his mission with Jiraiya-sama, Naruto made an impression on a number of young women, some of whom live in Konoha still to this day.
During his mission to search for Sasuke in land of rice fields, according to Jiraiya Naruto had made an impression on a member of the Fuma clan, a young woman named Sasame.
Jiraiya also believed that Naruto may have taken a shine to her as well, and that could be a doorway into another matter.”
“What other matter?” Tsunade said glaring at him.
“The Fuma clan has been having problems stabilizing themselves for a long time, even before the mission to find Sasuke. If Sasame was to marry Naruto, the village could use that as a means to assimilate the Fuma clan into our ranks, as I recall they did submit a request to join Konoha some time ago but is stuck in the bureaucracy.”
Tsunade rolled her eyes then signaled for him to continue.
“On a mission with Anko as leader to deal with a monster in sea country, Naruto met a young woman that was turned into a monster. She is receiving treatment from you personally to reverse medical alterations that made her into that thing, we only know her as Isaribi.
Then there is the young Kurama Yakumo, a very talented Genjutsu specialist that he technically saved both the girl and Kurenai, earning him some level of affection from the young women.
These are the only women that I know of who Naruto has charmed before leaving, that are not part of a political circle of some kind.”
“What sort of political circles are you referring to?” Juro asked.
“Well he has helped a number of feudal lords and other individuals of importance, many of them women that appeared to have hidden desires for him. Though asking for him to remain with them to rebuild or help rule their land, there were clearly other intentions. Playing the fool he was able to work his way out without offending the women in question.
Though I did just list the women of his relative age, these other women are generally a few years older than him and I am sure he could influence them on some levels because of his friendships with them and his general nature.
In Konoha there are a few other and older women that are not exactly related to any missions, yet Naruto has caught their eye for a number of reasons.” Kakashi said glancing back to Shizune who was sorting papers on Tsunade’s desk.
‘Maybe it is time for her to settle down, I’m sure Naruto could would treat all the women right, and I’m sure he would help her reach that goal of hers too.’ Tsunade thought looking at her apprentice.
“Who else in the village has interest in Naruto?” Tsunade asked.
“Aside from some obvious individuals, Ichiraku Ayame appeared to have some kind of big sister relation to him, though I have suspected for years that there might have been a secret attraction between them.” Kakashi replied.
“Of course as a young man, Naruto has influenced a number of young women as well. Though at the moment there are already currently five connected to him, being Ino, Hinata, Sakura, Shion and Amaru who have direct romantic desires for him.”
“So all he needs is another five women that will willingly marry him, romantically or for political reasons, do we have the numbers to do that?”
“Humm, there might be some that are personally connected to political individuals, a daughter or even a sister to someone of interest, others will have to be found later sadly.”
There was then a light knock on the door; Tsunade giving Shizune a nod quickly opened the door revealing Kazekage Garra, Temari and Kankuro.
“Garra, what can I do for you?” Tsunade asked with a smile.
“I understand that Naruto has been trying to obtain his clan status but is running into legal setbacks. As Kazekage and his friend, I offer my assistance in any way that I can.” Garra bowed with respect.
Tsunade then glanced at Temari for a moment as thoughts began to form in her mind.
“Very well, I will tell you what we know so far, the legal loop holes that exist that should provide Naruto with the means he needs to obtain his clan status and what other requirements exist.
Kakashi, I would like for you to investigate into any additional targets located in the village, anyone that meets the requirements, Shizune I want to have a meeting with all clan heads tomorrow, no exceptions.
